The wind found its way around the hills and mountains of Mt. Paozu. It brushed through the grass and made the leaves sway on the branches. Various creatures of all shapes and sizes lifted their heads to bask in it. It was refreshing and calm, carrying clean mountain air unpolluted by modern civilization. The land was peaceful, the quiet undisturbed...Until that was interrupted by an explosive force blowing away the side of a mountain, leaving a huge crater like a gaping wound in the earth. Rock and stone crumbled to the ground in a plume of dust. The devastation was incredible. In the center of the giant divot was a single body, seemingly frail when compared to the size of the destruction around it.
Anastasia panted breathlessly, the ki of her transformation fluttering as she struggled to keep it maintained. She was trying to master her Adrenaline Rush. She needed to make this transformed state as natural to her as breathing. Instead it was a trial after only a few minutes. Her muscles burned and her energy reserves were like a fire that roared when lit, but quickly dwindled to embers. Her Adrenaline Rush had no longevity or utility. She needed to adapt and make her transformed state more practical.
And the only way to do that was for her to practice it. She needed stamina training. Ana needed to push her limits while in Adrenaline Rush. But when she was in Adrenaline Rush, her control was spotty, that made her dangerous and could cause a lot of collateral damage if she tried to train in a more populated area. No, it was safer if she traveled out in nature and released her powers more freely. Better that she destroy this mountain than a city block.
Anastasia panted raggedly before blasting forward, flying at top speed towards the clouds in the sky. She flew until her lungs burned and the atmosphere thinned. Then she turned and immediately flew back down, aimed straight for the very mountain she had just crashed into. The G-forces of her flight pulled at her, the weights under her clothes threatening to dislocate her limbs, and yet she still made her mad rush down to earth. This was a game of chicken against the earth. Obviously a game she wouldn't win, the earth was unflinching and Ana was made of flesh and bone. She held her insane trajectory until the last possible moment, then jerked herself free. It wasn't a clean break, Ana had gouged along the earth, deflected off it, and spiraled through the hair in a wild windmill of limbs. She found herself back again in a crater, but this time in a different mountain.
She couldn't keep Adrenaline Rush active anymore. The ki flickered and faded, and Ana fell limply from the mountain's face falling through the air like a rag doll before hitting the ground below with a muted thump.
Anastasia panted weakly and stared dizzily at the clouds above her. They drifted past slowly and looked so soft... she wished she could lay down on them and drift away. No, that was stupid. Clouds were water vapor and she couldn't lay on them. God, she was delirious. Ana ran a shaking hand down her face and tried to pull herself together. Maybe she had pushed herself too hard in that last stunt...
