Early in the morning, just as dawn was waking up, Ayu left her home and took a long, very long walk into the area of Break Wasteland. However it sounded, she needed to be alone for just a moment... For only a moment until it would pass. Sun was barely rising and the air was still fresh, cool, and crisp thanks to the breeze from the night. Everything around her was so quiet, merely the wind was howling its song. It wasn't a small distance by foot by any means, from the rural outskirts of East City to this place, but Ayu was feeling restless since midnight and hoped that maybe a stroll would ease her mind a little... It did not. A lonely silhouette walked through the barren land, now and then a small patch of grass and flowers would mark Ayu's path. The energy in her body was wavering - and more than ever before. For the past few days, the young woman was on edge, afraid of being... Found out? It wasn't the right choice of words, but she didn't want anyone to see her in this state. She just needed to stay away from people, only for a moment, only how long it was needed... Until this fit of weakness and throbbing energy would pass. Not that it was a drastic change - she was a little paler, quieter if it could only be possible, with painful pulsing within her head and chest. At the times like this, her Ki would leak out of her body as if she was a cracked vase, her aura uncontrollably creating a green mess of plants everywhere. Sometimes it was an armful of gently blooming flowers - the other time cruel vines have again crumpled the toolshed in the backyard to pieces. It... It was concerning, to say the least.
Something wrong was happening with her lately. That much was obvious and it wasn't a matter of the past few days, but weeks... Maybe even months? She wasn't able to say for sure. Ayu's energy was growing rapidly, without hesitation like there was no limit to it... But alongside this power, the power she never wished for, she was developing this aching sensation that was often leaving her breathless. Like every bit of Ki that she gained had a price, putting a strain on her physique. There were moments when Ayu could feel herself losing strength and it wasn't an easy matter... The nosebleeds were confirming that this issue wouldn't pass without leaving her fatigued. The more powerful she was becoming, the weaker and more fragile her body was - until she reached this point when it was harder and harder to control her energy. She was sick from being too strong, so ironic... Her small frame couldn't possibly contain all that might. Was all this training to this point fruitless? She couldn't do anything to calm down the Ki dwelling in her body, only wait for the fit of pain to pass.
And once again, it was time to clench her teeth, breathe deeply and hope that this sickening sensation will pass soon. Ayu could feel hopeless tears gathering in her eyes as she walked. Convincing herself that they were caused by the cool breeze, she wiped them away quickly. She felt herself being torn by fluctuating Ki... Her energy signature was jumping - raising high then dropping low - to start it all over again, stopping for mere seconds before it started pulsing in a chaotic, uncontrollable manner once more. There was nothing she wouldn't give to get away from this sensation, which with each passing moment was pushing her into an anxious, full of panic state. This acuity of foreboding was stuck with her ever since she woke up in the middle of the night. It wasn't a mystery to people around her that Ayu wasn't feeling too well lately. Most of her time she would spend resting, taking it easy, and not doing more than house chores or the garden needed... But today was different. Nosebleed wasn't even that strong this morning, her head wasn't feeling like it was being penetrated by a heavy-duty drill. Just... Ayu felt weak. Pathetically so. The fact that this vulnerability was tied to the heavy pressure in her chest wasn't making it any better... Or easier to understand.
Still, in her weakened state Ayu decided that she needed to leave her house, to stay away from others until her energy would calm down. Like many other times, her Ki would slip away from her grasp, affecting her surroundings... At first, she was unconsciously creating small patches of grass, now the vegetation around her was growing thicker, denser. Her path was marked by a long and thin strap of bushes. She could feel her heart fluttering in her chest like a fearful bird, painfully hitting the ribs and hastening her pulse. Though right now she started to feel that taking a walk first in the morning wasn't the best idea... But it needed to be done. One thing that could point to her not feeling the best was the fact that Ayu took a stroll empty-handed. She didn't bring along anything with her - and she never left home without her trusted basket or the bag filled with necessities. Not only her Ki but also her thoughts were all over the place... Her fingers were getting numb, so she rubbed them together. Brushing away those symptoms, the only thing that was of real concern was her energy, unstable and wavering. Like a flag in the middle of the tempest... Yet, it was enough to find herself shivering and worried to her core.
"This place will do," she quietly said to herself after Ayu reached an oasis in the middle of the wasteland... Well, not exactly oasis. It was a wide patch of greenery she created last time here during her training. Let us be honest, it basically was a vast forest that sprouted from the ground, but it was better than nothing. After reaching the border of the greenery, she stopped walking, taking a deep, pained breath. Ayu sat down heavily under the nearest tree, resting her head on the warm bark and closing her eyes, gladly listening to the whisper of leaves. It felt nice... There was comfort in this silent, cool place, where the sun barely started to warm up the dried soil. But she wasn't here to simply rest, no. She tried her best to calm down her mind, but her fluctuating energy wasn't making it easier. It needed to pass. It needed to pass. Focusing on her breath, with time and patience Ayu was able to quieten down the storm enough to somewhat feel better. She stroked her wrists, finding herself with less strain on her chest and body than before. The clothes she was wearing weren't longer keeping her in check as she hoped... For some time now she didn't feel any difference when she was putting them on, but she still hold to them as if they were her anchor. Funny how a habit could work.
For now, it was passing. Ayu needed to rest a bit longer, enjoying the solitude and silence, though despite the pain lessening its grasp, her Ki... It still was a chaotic mess, wavering and jumping with her slightest gesture or thought. Contrary to that, she was calmly sitting by the tree, concentrating on breathing exercises. Maybe with more time and luck, she would shake this uneasiness off and go back home like nothing ever happened.
Little did she know, that she was being followed.

Post by Majin Liari on Aug 2, 2022 6:07:38 GMT -5
SUPER HEAVY WEIGHTS ACTIVATED
Tonight was a night like most others for the majin: a restless one. She tried her hardest to block those images from her mind, to keep them from surfacing, to FORCE THEM SO DEEP INSIDE HER HEAD, THEY WOULD NEVER RESURFACE...
...And like all the times she tried to muscle her way out of a situation... it failed. Harshly. Akin to an alarm-bell for those that slept soundly, Liari hitting the FLOOR after flailing out of her hammock was the way she woke up, a noise that would usually send Ayu RUNNING into her room... was met with nothing this morning! It took Liari several seconds to realize the missing piece in this puzzle, and several more for her to realize there must have been SOME reasonable explanation for this! She... probably was still asleep! YEAH, that must've been it! Ayu was probably having a REALLY GOOD AND DEEP SNOOZE after all the training they had done before! YEAH...
...That made sense and stuff.
Liari stumbled out of her room sleepily, and Gandalf-ed her way through several door-frames, the whack of each one against her forehead sending a different pitch of *KLONK* through the house as if it were some oddly built Xylophone.
...And still nothing...?
Even while STILL sleepy and perhaps slightly concussed, Liari was starting to worry now! EVEN WHEN Ayu slept tighter than a bug in a rug, after the SECOND *KLONK* She was awake! ...Something wasn't right here.
"Ayu...?" Liari whispered, just in case her sister REALLY WAS knocked out!
........
...No answer.
"Ayu...?"
Coming to her room, the majin felt... small again, as if she were that little girl-version of herself once more... She... She couldn't feel her sister's ki behind this door... OR ANYWHERE for that matter! Liari ALWAYS knew where she was, she could FEEL IT! With how truly powerful she was, the majin should have been able to pick her up like a spotlight in the abyss but...
...Why couldn't she...
"Ayu-..." Liari opened the door... and FROZE. ...She wasn't there... Wha... where had she...
It took ALL of Liari's strength not to SHOOT UP THROUGH THE ROOF OF THEIR HOUSE TO GET OUT INTO THE SKY, instead RUSHING out the front door, her hands surrounding her mouth like the lips of a megaphone!
"AYUUUUUUUUUUUU!" She screamed, her heart RISING in her chest in compliment to her heart rising in her throat! "WHERE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARREEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU!?"
...Her head whipped this way and that, it tilted at an angle to perhaps pick up on ANY small sound... A response, an answer... even... *gulp* a cry for help... But she heard NOTHING! AYU WASN"T ANYWHERE NEARBY! But... How could this BE!? She never disappeared on her like that... EVER before! Usually, it was Liari who ventured out on her own and she ALWAYS Knew where Liari was WHEN she did that! This was new. This was new and it was bad and Liari didn't like it!
...After crying out of her sister to the point of breathlessness, Liari's eyes... would turn to the ground... Overgrown grass...
Now, Liari and Ayu lived out in the wilds so this wasn't an uncommon sight, but when you live with a botanist/with botany for as long as Liari had, one would come to pick up on a few things! For example, this grass wasn't LIKE the others around here. it was too... grainy, as if resembling wild wheat, a light shade of brown in contrast to she softer, greener grasses here. SECONDLY, this wasn't here before. At all. And plants NEVER cropped up instantly overnight on their own! They took their time, allowed their roots to sink in and stuff!
"So that means..." ...Ayu left...? Liari's eyes flicked up, spotting a trail of overgrown patchwork plant patches leading off in some vague direction! Ayu HAD left... and she left a trail for her to follow! But... why did she leave at all...? Had Liari's sleeping habits disturbed her that much...? Whatever the reason, Liari wasn't just gonna wait for Ayu to come back on her own! She was going to find her! SHE HAD to go and find her! ...If only to be secure in the knowledge that her sweet, gentle sibling would come back to her safely...
With Liari's speed and her mind focused on something important, it wasn't long before she picked up on Ayu's signature. It was... so small, she had almost lost track of it! But... but how could that be!? Ayu had grown stronger than she when- SUDDENLY Ayu's signature SWELLED for but an instant, REACHING A FEVER PITCH AS HER POWER FLUCTUATED... before shrinking back down! Liari stopped DEAD in the air, her silver eyes WIDE with shock, with fear... with confusion! WHAT WAS GOING ON, EVEN!?
"...Ayu..." Liari mumbled. "...Please be okay..."
SHOOTING OFF EVEN FASTER, Liari would eventually trace the signal down to a small patch of life in the desert, an oasis born around a small, crystal-clear lake, a single brightspot in an ocean of nothing... and the source of her treasured sibling's energy signature! Without wasting a moment, the majin, like the little blue girl she once was, would SHOOT down to ground-level, quickly, but gently pushing past all the plants until she found her sister standing there... SAFE... but... contemplative, as if she were trying to figure something out... GOOD! BECAUSE LIARI WANTED ANSWERS!
"Oh, thank god..." Liari huffed, the revalating of her sibling's safety taking MORE WIND out of her than any punch to the gut! "...You're safe.... I was so afraid..." The majin would approach Ayu, her arms, held wide to either side to invite a hug... but she didn't outright approach her in case she didn't want it... Ayu seemed oddly... focused... Something was different here... What could it be?
"Wh... Why did you leave Ayu and... and what's up with your POWER!? It must have changed at least a half-dozen times while I was following you and know knows how many before that!? I'm... I'm worried..."

Post by Calot on Aug 6, 2022 2:17:54 GMT -5
"I curse my stars in bitter grief and woe, That made my love so high and me so low." So came the quoted words from a certain Demon Saiyan swordsman, who found themselves once more buried deep within the thralls of poetry by their tranquil lonesome, unexpectant of any visitors to such a remotely located area. ..At least, that was until someone had come along to break the comfortable silence. Calot Tirisfel was in need of a slight break. While the combative circumstances he had come to find himself constantly within were a welcomed (although not always particularly considered worthy) change of challenges in comparison to the lack of competition he faced upon his home world of Vegeta, there were times when even his body could not properly contain the power that not only he, but others he faced came to exert within their concertos of chaos and conflict. His body, while practically forged for fighting and combat at this point, was still a body plagued by the needs of a mortal being. That was to say, in layman's terms, even he got tired of the constant wear and tear at times. Which was why Calot found himself where he was at the moment, in the midst of the company of nothing but rocks and flora for the next few square miles or so, amongst the rocky wastes of the Break Wastelands deep within the heart of the Eastern continent. Yes, he was more than sure he could have replicated near perfect circumstances for himself back at home in the Bamboo forest if he so wanted, but, he was feeling a little nostalgic today. One would think that, due to his history, he would attempt to avoid the backdrop of the wastelands like a plague- but, this was not the case. Quite the opposite in fact, as most of the time, if not for poetry, the hybrid would find himself in such similar atmospheres to the one that had preceded such terrible childhood trauma all those years ago as a means of self penance for his lack of action way back when. But, thankfully, today, the calculating crossbreed was willing to cut himself a little bit of slack. Today, he wished only for a place for quiet self reflection, as well as an opportunity to return to his roots, and enjoy some lovingly written Earth-made poetry. Something that he was sure Ayu would be glad to hear him doing. It had been a week or so following the day the duo had their very first encounter with each other, but it had been impactful to the point where the bond between the two had been securely strong since its very inception. Ayu, perhaps being drawn to Calot due to his initially cold but eventually warmhearted nature, and with Calot having gravitated toward the girl of the greenery due to her inherently innocent and pure nature. Something that a former older brother such as himself ached to protect whatever the cost may be. Although, such things would prove hard for him to do, considering the day the two left each other's company, Calot had failed to procure even a single means of keeping continued contact with her. No phone number, no mailing address, no dice- something that he continued to somewhat regret even presently, as he laid himself across a select line of stones and boulders below him. He was more than sure she was doing well for herself though. If their time together was anything to go off of in regards to Ayu's ability to stand as an individual, besides her worryingly anxious persona, Calot knew that she was quite skilled in most practical areas of expertise that she would need to keep herself and her base needs completely fulfilled. Not only that, but her magical affinity proved to be something quite formidable as well, if the snippets that he gleaned from her treatment done on him were anything also to make note of, so even in regards to self defense the hybrid couldn't say he was worried in the slightest. Though, it wouldn't hurt if he could at least keep a close watch on her by some means, eventually. However, it seemed that this eventuality would be coming sooner than he believed possible, as during Calot starting to read another poem upon the same page of his mother's poetry book, his eyes were torn from the writings and immediately off to his right, where a sizable power signature began to surge in strength and volatility not too far off from where he currently was sitting. And along with every pulse in increasing power came an outpouring of familiarity with it. Indeed, Calot knew exactly who this was. The muddled energy mixture was undeniable at this point. Closing his book, the swordsman placed it back into his coat, cool blue aura emblazoning his body as he immediately took flight toward the disturbance's source, wasting no time in closing the distance between the two of them as soon as was humanly (well, Demon-Saiyan-ly, in this case) possible. Unfortunately, despite having reached the oasis in question that he sensed Ayu's energy hidden within, it appeared he was not the only person who took notice of this dispersal of distress, as upon gently landing a few yards away from the resting girl, his eyes caught notice of another blue-colored individual now present. Eyes widening, Calot realized this person was of the same race of people as was Shaza, the Majin menace that acted as his welcoming party back when he had first landed on terra firma proper. Gritting his teeth, he gripped the hilt of his katana, Kyoto, tightly, prepared to fight off this threat to his very last breath if needed, seeing as her strength signature seemed to outclass the hybrid's in every way imaginable. That was, until, he was able to catch at least part of what the alien-looking individual was now telling Ayu. Grip weakening, Calot eventually returned to a more calmed, standing posture, as he realized whoever, or whatever, this thing was, it didn't mean to harm his surrogate little sister. Apparently, it was here for the same exact reason he was- out of utter concern for the conduct of the Bio-Android sweetheart, and the thought of Ayu's kindness spreading in such ways that even random strangers came to care for her safety and wellbeing made a smile very nearly make its way onto Calot's face. Instead, however, the still mostly coldhearted crossbreed remained quiet, crossing his arms and finding a tree of his own to lean against as he awaited Ayu's explanation for not only her presence here, but also her appallingly pulsating Ki. Eyes closing, he waited, ever the patient guardian.----PL: 18,104 WC: 1131 TWC: 1131

Maybe she should have mixed feelings about straying from everyone at the very moment when she would need them the most, but Ayu just... Couldn't bring herself to ask for help. Not like this. That was a little ironic, wasn't it? She was the first one to hold out her hand and try her best to aid anyone who might need it... But she never felt comfortable burdening people kind enough to worry about her with her troubles. She was aware that this logic was flawed, but she was stubborn. That's why Ayu decided to spend the time here in the middle of nowhere, alone, far away from anyone who might have to get caught up with her raging energy. It would be better for everybody - yet it seemed that it wasn't a given.
She silently mouthed the name of the person that she felt nearby - and her energy was getting closer with each passing second. The timing wasn't ideal, but there wasn't much she could do about it... Ayu never avoided her little sister, but being aware that her state could only trouble her more, she wanted to keep her distance until the energy would stabilize again. Seemed that it won't work this time. Ayu slowly opened her eyes when a familiar signature approached her and she heard Bluebell's voice. She turned her head towards her, but her gaze couldn't exactly focus on the blue-skinned silhouette, pale yellow irises seemed mildly dazed. With a little bit of difficulty, Ayu shook her head and rose to her feet. Every step was marked by grass around her growing thicker, vines twisting and twirling on the ground like a spider's webs... No, it wasn't only the area next to her body - if one would look closely, they would notice that everything around her in a quite large radius was slowly moving. Blades of grass shivered as if they were under the breeze, trees were stretching their branches, and each plant breathed in anticipation. Ayu herself could feel it, but it didn't help her in any way... It was obvious by her every gesture that she was fatigued like she has undergone a lot of rigorous training, but it wasn't the reason - containing all the energy in her body was so draining she might have very well been close to her limits.
She heavily sunk into Liari's arm. The smooth skin felt cool to the touch, and despite her initial worry, she was glad that her sister was here. The young woman embraced her back, for a while holding to her like she was an anchor before Ayu was able to raise her head. Her blue expression was pale and worried... But there was something else at the bottom of the silver eyes. Ayu raised her arms, gently cradling her sister's concerned face in her hands. Maybe her concentration wasn't at its best at this moment, but she still felt the lingering worry and pain in Majin's energy, exactly in the same way it happened many times before. Guilt turned her expression into a worried frown when she realized what was going on and Ayu's eyes softened.
"... You had a nightmare again. I'm s-sorry I wasn't there..." That was the first thing that crossed her mind before her thoughts were able to register the reason why Liari was so worried about her. Her eyes were looking at her with so much concern, Ayu didn't know what to say. And she said something about power. Power..? What about it- Ah, right, right, her Ki. And she left home early without waking her up. Why it was so hard to recall that? Headache wasn't helping her at all... Ayu lowered her arms and held Liari's hand in hers, gently wrapping her heated fingers around her palm. "I will be a-alright after a moment..." the young woman assured her with a weak smile, but she didn't sound nor she didn't look convinced by her own statement. Her sentences were divided by small pauses when she had to make a break for each breath and it was a worrying matter on its own. "I left a note on my bed that I will be back soon. I did." Ayu explained and right after she said that, she frowned. She was trying to frantically search through her aching mind to find the corresponding memory, but couldn't. "D-Did I..? I was sure I did..." she gazed back at Liari as if waiting for confirmation if her memory was only that bad or if was she losing it... Ayu stroked her head, brushing away hair from her sweated forehead. Her eyes were much more conscious now than a moment before. Did she leave without leaving any information behind? "I'm so s-sorry Bluebell, my mind I all over the place... I was convinced I left you a message, so y-you wouldn't worry," the guilt only started to grow, almost tying a knot around her throat. "I didn't m-mean to scare you..."
It wasn't easy to get her focus fully ready to concentrate on matters at hand, while a moment ago Ayu was trying to calm down her breathing. Her mind was pulled back to reality, even if her thoughts and Ki were kind of scattered around. It wasn't that bad, but it kind of felt like Ayu's head was getting heavier. Her senses were somewhat dulled too... But it was alright, for now. The patch of greenery here was soothing, she was here, and Liari, and one more presence that was quietly watching over them from the shade of the tree nearby. In the back of her mind, Ayu noticed Calot's energy signature a while ago, but with her unorganized thoughts, her consciousness didn't register his presence right away. She was kind of slow today anyway...
"I don't know," Ayu admitted softly with a weary smile. She looked at the palms of her hands, closing her eyes for a brief second. Her breaths were lifting her chest regularly, but each of them felt slightly too long and too deep. "I-I woke up with my energy being like this, but it wasn't that bad b-back at home. R-Remember the toolshed? Or the boulder behind the training grounds?" Right... The infamous toolshed was wrapped with roses and each time Ayu lost control of her Ki, it was reduced to a pile of boards by twisting thorny vines. It happened like three times already, and each time they had to rebuild the shed... And the boulder was triple her height. It was reduced into pieces like butter because the enhanced roots dug into the rock's surface like jelly. That was one of the hardest cases of Ayu losing control, and she dreaded the thought of history repeating itself. "I was afraid I might do s-something like that again and damage the house or hurt you if I'd stay there..." Maybe her explanation wasn't too convincing, but at least the message was clear. "I wanted to wait here before coming home until it all would calm down..." Ayu's eyes narrowed slightly when her fidgeting hand grabbed the fabric of clothes above her heart. The pressure was rising. "I'd hate to go out of control again, I h-hoped I would be able to stay here alone before anything happens, but you two have found me anyway," she chuckled, gently despite her exhaustion. Not like it was in any way hard to find her with her fluctuating Ki.
Ayu turned her head to the side, to a tall, silent figure leaning his back against the tree. It's not that she could see the details, but the energy sensed was more stable and Calot seemed healthy. Good, last time she saw him he was in a very poor state and she was still worried that her aid wouldn't be enough.
"I'm glad you're feeling better," she smiled, before rubbing her temple again and her gaze slipped away to the side, to the thick bushes and greenery there. She thought...
... Was it her imagination?

Liari let out a long, soft sigh of happiness as Ayu fell into her arms, the majin crouching low enough so she could take her sibling in her arms. There was no better feeling in the world than one of Ayu's hugs, Liari was convinced, but especially NOW did it feel good to hold her close. She was terrified what it would mean if her precious botanist sibling didn't come back, what Liari might've done if her energy were to suddenly... disappear... All of that hope, that desperate clinging to the idea that somehow, things MIGHT get better... would come undone. And with someone restrained by nothing, with nothing left to lose... Terrible avenues would open up into darkness never before seen. ...But Liari needn't worry about such things for now... She had Ayu in her arms again, cradling her wonderful sister close... Everything was gonna be okay...
"Ayu, forget the nightmare..." Liari mumbled, gently cupping her face in her hands. "...Something is bothering you. Something is wrong. What is it...?" Ayu assured her that she would be fine... but the stern look Liari's face fell into wasn't exactly displaying the GREATEST MAGNITUDE OF CONFIDENCE in such a promise! Even when it was PITCH BLACK AND UNDER MINIMAL MOONLIGHT Liari could see Ayu was distracted. It was in the tremble of her voice, the lack of focus in her gaze, the distress displayed in her every action! Ayu was NOT okay... Why would she try to pretend any different...?
"Ayu..." Liari rumbled more seriously... before blinking, realizing how she sounded! She softened her tone a bit. "Ayu... Please. I'm not a child anymore... I'm... 'older' now... You can tell me... I can help! We'll figuring things out, alright...? We're a team..." The majin smiled softly, gently resting her forehead against Ayu's. "...Now please tell me: What's going on...?"
...The majin blinked... then her brow furrowed in distress and frustration as Ayu explained how her plant powers were STILL out of control... and even WORSE this time! The toolshed? She thought it was a fluke, a minor slip that would be brushed under the rug as an isolated incident! ...And the boulder. Liari didn't like to think about the boulder. PUNCHING it to pieces was one thing. Wrapping it in vines was another... but having it be DEVESTATED FROM ALL SIDES BY A WHOLE NETWORK OF TREES-WORTH OF ROOTS WAS A REEEEEEAAAAALLY BAD SIGN! ...Again, it was easier to think that this was just Ayu getting used to her power, that MAYBE she was just trying out new techniques or something... Ayu confirmed this wasn't the case... and her heart sank... Ayu was afraid that she might've hurt her, that maybe, in her sleep or something, their house would be CONSUMED in plantlife! They might've lost everything! She was afraid... so afraid... Liari was afraid too... and NOT for herself this time!
"Ayu... Lilly-Ayu..." Liari whispered, stepping in gently and hugging her sibling tighter than before, her aura gently glowing around her body hoping the soft, warm light of the Majin's ki might soothe her a little... "...I don't care about the house... and I'm strong enough that you won't hurt me... All I care about is you... You're all that matters..." Liari whispered before pulling back and placing a very soft kiss on the center of her forehead!
"...I don't care about the nightmares, the plants, the house... all those things can be fixed... We can mow the plants... I'll find some way to suppress the nightmares... We can rebuild the house better than before... But you...? If something were to happen to YOU, I..."
Ayu mentioned "you two" and Liari paused mid-sentence, her gaze sharpening, her red eyes beginning to GLOW in the dark, alert, suspicious! She followed Ayu's gaze across the way where they stood, her sanguine stare falling upon some stranger with a sword leaning up against a tree as if he were a deer in headlights!
...How did she notice him before Liari...? HOW did LIARI NOT NOTICE HIM AT ALL!? She... she observed that she couldn't get a reading from this guy whatsoever, from his face, all cool-as-a-cucumber, to his energy signature, coming up as... odd. Either it wasn't like anything she'd ever sensed before or he was suppressing it... Either way, she didn't like it.
"What's this punk doing here?" Liari grumbled, her teeth gritted in an a defensive (or perhaps aggressive) snarl. ...But Ayu seemed to know him. In fact, she even WELCOMED HIM, expressing her gratification at his improved health!
"You know this joker?" Liari grumbled, turning her nose up at his cool-guy routine. Look at him, trying to posture while Ayu was in the middle of a crisis! What was UP with this punk, anyway...?
"...Ayu, we need to figure something out..." Liari beckoned, only just then turning her attention away from the mute and distant stranger! "Your energy... I don't know what might happen if these fluctuations get any larger..."

Considering Calot's less than accommodating personality toward most individuals not named Ayu, one would expect him to perhaps attempt to show this Majin upstart what manners actually look like when it came to greeting a friend of a friend that said friend clearly enjoyed being friends with. Maybe an angered spitting of Demon Saiyan verbal venom, or perhaps a special kind of finger gesture that people often used to greet others that they didn't particularly like the presence of. But, surprisingly enough, the mere presence of the aforementioned girl of the greenery seemed to be just enough reason to withhold his venomous vitriol deep within.
Besides, he found the Majin's overprotective nature quite an entertaining display to behold, so, in place of sharing any words that would be means to start a potential conflict between the current company, Calot instead allowed himself an uncharacteristic chuckle, walking toward the two of them with a confident stride as he spoke in his ever cold, but still reassuring tone, "Calm yourself, Majin- If I wanted either of you dead, I doubt I could accomplish it at my level of strength anyways. Besides, it is clear we have an olive branch as is, in the form of Ayu's presence here."
Looking over at Ayu specifically now, the young man offered a nod of approval, face betraying him slightly as it displayed a clear sense of softness for the girl, despite no smile or any other sign of warmth being present in his posture. Continuing, he'd turn back toward Liari, stating in a matter-of-fact tone as he crossed his arms once more, saying, "To be frank, I hadn't even known Ayu was present around this area until I felt that fluctuating energy of hers that you speak of. I just so happened to be in the general vicinity, and so I came to check on who I believed might have been an unstable Ayu."
"Thankfully, it appears as though your condition remains, somewhat stable. However, the Majin is right- if this goes unchecked, little can be predicted- and a sense of chance is something we should all aim to avoid when it comes to your safety and security."
Now that he was closer, though, Calot decided to take a closer look at Liari- noting her softer disposition despite the more hostile persona she had approached him with just barely a few moments prior. Which was understandable, this was their little sister after all, and while he would never dare admit it aloud, the Demon Saiyan swordsman could see that Liari felt the same exact way that he did when it came to their shared sibling. That they would do anything for her to feel safe and sound, no matter the cost that would come upon their head in response.
And because of that, Calot already felt, at the very least, indifferent to the Majin. He wouldn't say he liked her right off the bat- it was much too early to tell. In fact, if she had approached him earlier with such an angry means of vernacular without Ayu being in their presence, the hybrid might've had half a mind to give her a lesson in manners right there and then. Thankfully, for both of their sakes, that didn't seem to be necessary.
Besides, he wasn't here for her.
Refocusing on Ayu one more time, Calot moved to sit himself directly in front of her. Lowering himself, he'd put himself onto one knee, staring directly into her face now as he tilted his head in a thoughtful manner, surveying the apparent strain and exhaustion upon her brow with a critically concerned eye. It was similar to that of the face she held following his treatment back within the depths of the Bamboo forest up East, and it was one that incited worry each time that it appeared.
"Enough of my current state of affairs, yours appear to be worse for wear. As your friend said, your Ki appears to be getting harder and harder to control even now, and with every moment past dilly dallying, we risk your condition becoming irreversible. Now, I myself have had such fluctuations before, and while your circumstance is completely different due to the nature of your origin, there are surely methods that have worked for me that will work for y-"
Stopping abruptly mid-sentence, just as Ayu's eyes were torn away from the group for a moment, Calot's own more finely tuned fighter's vision caught a modicum of movement deep within the bush barely a few yards away. His nerves heightened. expression tightening as vivid recollections of similar circumstance from his past then began to flash quickly through his mind, forcing the young man to address the source of his worry with extreme prejudice.
Getting up, he'd slowly stalk toward the bush, unsheathing his blade as he closed the distance between himself and the unsuspecting piece of shrubbery. Narrowing his eyes once he was basically in front of the piece of green, Calot slashed downwards upon the spot, with one swing suddenly turning into a ferocious flurry of cleaves and slices in quick rapidity.
Unsure of what he would find, the swordsman would not rest until the entirety of that area was now open and visible, leaves and rubble flying wildly around him as he made sure no one could hide from his gaze.
No one was getting the drop on any of them.
Not again.

The embrace felt so calming for her troubled soul, but it was only a passing sensation. Normally Ayu would chuckle and hug Liari back, and they would start chatting like many times before. Yet, not today. Instead, she could only rest her cheek on her arm, closing her eyes. The root of the problem was still deeply engraved in her weakness and no matter how worried they were, it wasn't going to simply fade away. Ayu sighed, nuzzling her cheek against Liari's arm. It would be good to stay like this, but it wasn't going to help and she was very well aware of that. The solution wasn't known yet, but the priority for her now was to make sure that Bluebell will stop worrying. Ayu smiled warmly at Liari, though her careworn expression wasn't leaving her face. How she wished she would stay in the bed, sleeping soundly... And now they were here.
"I know, I'm s-sorry," she sighed. She hated to make Bluebell any more anxious, but she couldn't find any words to express or explain anything - because she herself knew nothing. Ayu has yet to receive any clue why her body reacted like that to her energy each time she felt her Ki growing, and she feared that maybe the revelation would never happen. It was a weird sensation, to be comforted, while she couldn't do or say anything to ease the worry of another person. Bluebell saying that she was ready to give up on everything they had, just to make sure she was safe brought tears to her pale eyes... But she couldn't say anything, because she noticed her tensing and her voice dropping to a defensive tone as soon as she spotted the third person near the other tree. "Liari, it's alright. I m-met Calot near the bamboo forest not so long ago," Ayu raised both of her hands in a calming gesture, smiling softly. She gently squeezed Bluebell's fingers, and with her other hand wiped out teardrops from the corners of her eyes. "I can vouch for him," she assured her little sister, her voice despite the weakness was honest about this matter. Liari was quite protective... And she wasn't taking any liking to strangers that approached both of them, that's for sure. Ayu could understand why Calot didn't make a good impression on the blue-skinned lady - he was always quite pragmatic and cold, seemingly standoffish and distant to everything around him... But he was here too, because he cared, even if just a little. Maybe it was to pay back the favor from the last time when she treated his wounds, but it made her glad - and worried all the same. Ayu wandered into this place to hide away from curious, troubled eyes, and it seemed that her plan failed. Now not only Bluebell but also him will see her in this feverish, uncontrollable state... Luck was on her side because so far nothing exploded with vines. She softly stroked Liari's hand in the last attempt of reassurance, turning her head towards the greenery around them.
In a moment of dizziness, Ayu rested her back against the tree and gently dropped onto the grass. The energy jumped high again and she felt her head growing heavy, while two more trees behind her started to sprout from the ground. Typical... She stroked her cheek, trying to focus her gaze on the two people that were keeping her company in this moment of distress. Her lips parted, she wanted to tell them something - express her thanks that despite all, they appeared there. Maybe try to comfort them even if she herself was on the verge of panic mixed with apathy, she wanted to say something, anything... But the words that escaped her mouth weren't bringing any reassurance.
"I don't know what to do..." Ayu answered with a hush, frail voice, her head resting on the tree bark.
She was lost. There was no way the whole sense of dread and confusion throbbing in her core could be translated into simple words. All this time her energy has been stealing her sleep, creating headache after headache, waking her up with nosebleeds, and weakening her significantly. It was growing with each day, but the side effects were too dangerous for Ayu to handle. The might that so many people were after was leeching on her health... There were brief moments when she was really afraid that she could die. Not so long ago she started to cough up blood too. Ayu wasn't good at controlling her Ki, that was sure, but she tried everything - and yet always failed and the recoil was affecting her body badly. Maybe it wasn't a matter of her energy only, maybe she was naturally weak... The young woman was training, but it didn't change her state. Meditation was making things only worse, and before she realized she run out of options. The only thing Ayu could do was to clench her teeth when it hurt and wait for it to pass, praying that the uncontrollable vines won't do too much damage.
There really was nothing she could do. They both were worried that if this continued, something bad would happen - Ayu agreed. Yet, there was nothing else she could think of. Calot did mention that there was another way to try, so... But that needed to wait a moment because he turned his attention to the rustling bushes nearby.
The grass was telling her that the ground was vibrating under significant weight, but she didn't know why... Was it an incoming earthquake? Or a stray animal? She couldn't sense energy there. That would be the last thing needed here right now. Something... Something didn't feel right. She slowly got up and was now again standing next to Liari, trying to focus on the plant life around her, but the fluctuating Ki made it hard for her to concentrate. Ayu brushed the hair away from her face, looking at Calot approaching the nearby bushes.
Then almost soundlessly, with a faint swish, something shot through the air and hit her arm. It happened too quickly, all she knew was that a sharp sensation pierced her flesh. There was a weak startled gasp and the young woman hold to her right shoulder, directly above the end of her collar bone. Because of the impact, Ayu's upper body leaned backward slightly and she had to take a step back not to fall, raising her head and wide eyes at the greenery around her. Her vision was getting blurry. Dark rose color tinted her clothing as she pried off the object that was sinking into her body. Blood now marked the grey fabric and her fingers. With each breath more ragged than the one before, Ayu glanced at what she was holding in her bloody hand, barely making out anything from this shape. The object was tiny, mimicking a dart in its appearance, but it was something closer to a syringe and a bullet than anything else. In a glass vial, the tiny piston was still pushing out the content outside, clear liquid dripping from the tip of the needle. It shot her. Something was injected into her body, that's why the needle mark was burning with fire. It wasn't a surprise that the view became even fuzzier and everything started to spin around. The dart fell from her hand and her knees started to weaken, and instinctively Ayu hold onto Liari's arm. It felt even worse than a struggle against gravity... A heavy veil was obstructing her mind, her breathing hastening with panic. Still, she was standing on her two legs, refusing to fall. A determined frown proved that she was fighting to remain conscious, though the fear and worry were becoming overwhelming at this point as her senses were becoming duller.
One of the slashes of Calot's sword met with a loud clank of something hard and metallic on the other side of the bush. A shove of brute force pushed his blade away, but the uneven shape responsible for that rapidly jumped away... And something else emerged from the shrubs with it. Vaguely humanoid figures filled with metallic plates, tubes, and armors, smaller and bigger. They were all dressed in the same black and red outfits. Some of them were people, and some of them only looked like people, with the shapes under clothing giving it away. They carried various equipment on themselves, something that Ayu has never even seen before. The ominous air accompanied them and she couldn't help but shiver. Earlier the plants were silently whispering to her that someone else was there, she just couldn't focus enough to hear their voices... Her mind was in shambles, she couldn't even do something as simple as that. She should have warned Liari and Calot before it lead to this, and now she couldn't get her breathing right...
The strangers were divided into two groups, surrounding the trio. More of them. And more... It looked like a whole troop of no less than twelve armed people was here hiding in the bushes, now approaching the three of them. The only thing was - not one of them was giving off any energy signature. They were all impossible to read like they weren't even there, but they very much were physical and ready to act. The mood changed drastically and Ayu found herself shaking. She couldn't focus her gaze on the silhouettes approaching, but even in this dazed state, she was aware that it couldn't mean anything good.
"Tch, the sedative isn't working that well," they could hear an irritated tone that carried the distinct pitch of a voice synthesizer. There were clicks of the weapons being prepared and the sound of branches snapping under heavy boots. "Remember the objective. The doctor needs the green one alive, the others are liabilities."
Ayu felt a cold shiver on her spine and her trembling hand held onto Liari's arm with genuine fear. They were here for her. The fluctuating energy reached a new height, harmonizing with the terrified beating of her heart. With each second the throbbing was jumping higher. She didn't know why or who, but she understood as much... That she was a target for someone and simply by being here, she was putting both Bluebell and Calor right now in grave danger.
"Time to do this old-fashioned way..." the more human voice could be heard from the person on the side, they muttered spitting out the piece of twig from its mouth.
And they all started to move.

Calot assured her that he was not here to bring them harm, that he had met Ayu some time before! Ayu backed up his statement with the odd swordsman even claiming he hadn't even sought Ayu out, rather the source of her fluctuating energy signature! ...This didn't much calm her nerves however... especially when the man was talking to her like an OBJECT rather than a person. "Majin this, Majin that..." He didn't even bother to ask Liari her name!
"'Calm myself...' Whatever." Liari huffed, turning her head away. What did she care about this guy anyway? As far as she was concerned, she could kick him down the road like a pebble if she wanted! It wasn't like she HAD to give this guy any respect... any that he wasn't giving her, anyway! He talked like a weirdo, he was POSTURING like he was some cool-guy with a mysterious past or something, someone small boys would want to be and someone small girls might FAUN over.
HMPH!
...With that whole... annoyance of an interaction aside, Liari would turn her attention back to Ayu while Calot started... whacking some bushes with his sword or something. ...Okay? Did that plant offend him or something? With the seriousness he was swinging that sword, Liari might've thought that he got grass-cuts on his leg or something and wanted revenge... Whatever he was doing, whatever he had noticed about Ayu's situation, it was the little green girl that was the most important! As the majin turned back to her, a mixture of confusion and frustration washed over her! Why...? WHY was this happening!? She shouldn't have been growing stronger if she couldn't control her ki anyway! It... It just shouldn't be! Strength was almost entirely DICTATED by how well someone can generate and control their energy but with Ayu... it was like her body was rejecting it!
A quick observation from Liari solidified this theory, from Ayu's general lethargy to her WILD spikes in power, to her inability to even GENERATE the stuff consistently! There was a condition some humans got, one where the body attacked itself MADLY and destroyed itself in thinking the important things inside were enemies... or BECAME enemies: Cancer. From what little Liari knew of it, THIS was what she pictured Ayu had! Some sort of... cancer-like affect her Ki had with her, something interfering with and ATTACKING her normal functions as if they were incompatible!
...And Liari had done it to her... insisting that it would help...
"Ayu, I..." Liari mumbled, slowly approaching her as the woman fell against a tree trunk! "I'm so sorry... I never knew this would happen... I..." Something FLEW just under the the majin's arm and STUCK into Ayu's arm! Liari blinked, surprised at the... the DART that manifested in her sibling's body... only for Ayu to collapse into her a second later!
"AYU!" Liari shrieked pulling her into her arms as she clung to one of them, the sound of metal-on-metal RANG OUT into the forest, Liari CRANING her neck its way and only barely catching the vague shape of SOMETHING fleeing into the forest!
"Blast it... It's an AMBUSH!" Liari ROARED, stating the obvious! "Calot! Get OVER HERE and help me cover Ayu! She was hit!" Liari glanced down to the needle Ayu held in her hand, a syringe of some kind... A knockout dart...? Why, it looked big enough to take down some of the large PREY than stamped around in these parts! WHO would want to shoot a GIRL with one!? ...her questions would be answered seconds later as a group of strange group of people stepped out of the brush and into the surrounding shadows, muttering something about the "sedative not working" and to "bring this one back to the 'doctor,'" referring to Ayu! Instantly, Liari POWERED UP, her eyes GLOWING a DEEP, UGLY, HATEFUL red, her aura BLAZING around herself and Ayu in a protective FLARE of MONSTROUS POWER! Her energy also gave her enough light to actually SEE who had intruded among them, Humans... mostly, from the look of it... though their energies... they had no signature! ANDROIDS!? SOMEONE SENT ANDROIDS TO STEAL HER SISTER!?
"GET AWAY FROM HER!" She SCREAMED, her voice ROARING loud enough to make the EARTHQUAKE beneath their feet, to cause the trees around them to RECOIL in utter fear! As Liari held Ayu close to her chest, tentacles would LASH OUT towards the strangers, one aiming to LASH OUT ACROSS THEM ALL, aiming to decapitate the LOT OF THEM with one scythe-like sweep!

Post by Calot on Sept 11, 2022 20:48:45 GMT -5
A slightly bemused, yet all the more amused furrowing of the brow followed Liari's evidently flustered behavior. Even after little Ayu's kind gesture of reassurance toward the bluebell, it appeared as though she still found no reason to trust the coldhearted swordsman that stood before the two presently. And, if Calot were to be honest with himself, he respected that in a way. While he would never speak it aloud to any living soul, he too at one point knew how it felt to care so deeply for another's safety. So it was a no brainer for the young man as to why the Majin acted in such a manner toward the less than welcoming persona that he had displayed.
Which was part of the reason why he didn't care to entertain her bad behavior with some sort of response, and instead chose to move his focus toward something that was much more important to the both of them presently- that of course being the continued welfare and health of their shared little sister. At least, that's what he had wanted to divert their efforts towards, before the sudden motion in the bushes behind the lot caught his attention.
The first thing, of course, that came to mind was that it was some sort of animal making all the ruckus. The Saiyan swordsman didn't think anyone to be foolish enough to try and goad the rage of three superpowered beings such as themselves all at once, and he also did not happen to sense any notable energy signature from within the greenery itself either. The last thing on his mind was that it was some sort of organized sneak assault on the sickened adolescent in their company.
And yet, it appeared as though that it was exactly that.
Impeccable hearing, as well as a gut feeling, tore his gaze from the shrubbery and back toward Ayu and Liari behind him, just in time to catch the foreign object lodge itself deep within his little sister's skin.
A pang of absolute pain tore at his heart as he watched Ayu immediately fall further ill, and his very skin began to crawl as he watched her fall to the dirt in an exhaustive heap. A cold sweat began to dampen the calculating crossbreed's forehead, his breath becoming erratic in nature, his mind traveling back to the last time he had fallen victim to failure when one that he had come to care about needed him most-
The clang of steel on steel being the only thing bringing him back to the present time, as he was soon rebounded backwards from the impact itself, and once more centered next to Ayu and Liari. Forcing his expression to remain as even as possible, his visibly shaking grip upon his blade betraying him, showcasing clearly the anger that boiled beneath his skin. Who dared to harm one who held the good graces of a son of Tirisfel?
He would get his answer soon after the question itself was asked, as grimly colored mercenary-type characters then began to crowd around the unfortunate trio, speaking amongst themselves as though each were merely objectives to be done away with. Which, of course, only made a person like Calot all that more furious.
Suddenly straightening his posture, Calot largely ignored the eldritch-like counter attack made by the now several-tentacled Majin of mayhem directly beside him, and instead chose to shut his eyes in pure concentration, laying his right hand upon the hilt of his blade as his left continued to grip the sheath with an iron-like grasp.
Immediately, in the midst of his meditative state, he sent his mind back to where he had been all those years ago- to the incident that had kickstarted the near two-decade long journey he had been on. The incident that left him a man with nothing much else to lose.
And in the mix of all that had been, what was now here ringed out loud and true, as the pain of potentially now losing one of, if not the only person he had come to give a damn about in years began to overtake every fiber of his being. Even with his coldhearted demeanor, and her own unassuming, anxiety ridden person, Ayu had done nothing but good for the boy in blue, and given him something that for years he had lived without out of fear of the repercussions that threatened to rear their ugly heads.
That being, companionship. Comfort. In a person other than himself.
Rather than the painful reminder that his constant loneliness brought him day, after day, after day.
Not willing to fall victim to such similar circumstances once more, Calot reopened his gaze with a wild flourish, his clothes beginning to ripple in the wind from the pure power he now began to exude as he took careful note of the growing number of fools that now stood unfortunately within his reach.
Slowly unsheathing his sword, and lowering himself to a near crouching position, the last son of Tirisfel looked upon the oncoming torrent of ill intent with a damningly determined glint in his gaze, before uttering the last few words these fools would ever come to hear.
"Eliminate ALL."
Soon after his declaration of war, Calot dashed through the near innumerable number of militaristic force that laid before him, cleaving through armor and person with deadly precision as fountains of red from the more humanoid of the lot and more mechanical innards from the lesser of their company exploded skywards from the sheer force of his attack. The very ground beneath their feet shaking as though out of fear from every savage swing, as Calot moved in a cadence of utter violence through every foe that fell to his blade, with the sky overhead soon becoming painted in a gory yet still somehow beauteous mess of red mist.
Even after all of this, however, Calot couldn't exactly call them misguided. Their plan was well formulated, and to bring someone as strong as Ayu down even for but a moment meant some sort of intellectual competency. However, they failed to take into account one, crucial detail.
And now, because of their shortsightedness, they would soon know firsthand this devil's power. A power greater than they would have ever imagined. The power of a son of Tirisfel.

Such was the thing about life, that it was quite unexpected... In one moment Ayu was talking to the two people she felt she was the closest to - in another, she was holding onto Liari's arm, drowsiness caused by the sedatives in her system, trembling in fear as to what was going to happen. Ambush. Why? For what..? Panic was raising and the stirred energy alongside it. Fighting with the fog in her mind she was at least aware that the androids around were here for her... Though that did not make Ayu feel any better. Once in a while, the images in front of her eyes blurred. The energies jumped, angered, feared by others. The tentacles swept through the enemies. A sharp blade started to cut through the robotic bodies, causing devastation on the enemy lines. The scent of blood and fear was thick enough to suffocate... She was protected, for now.
Due to the counterattack of Liari and Calot, the advances were halted, but not stopped. The group of androids around them was trying to divide into squads that were clearly focusing their firepower on neutralizing the unexpected opponents, while the others were attempting to get closer to Ayu. Sedatives did not work as well and she was more or less aware of her surroundings, but not enough to help in any way. The pain in her chest wasn't going to disappear like that... She could only watch, holding onto Bluebell. Letting herself be protected... Like a coward. Shivering, Ayu shut her eyelids, trying not to listen to screams. She was by no means a warrior, she wasn't used to that sight. The scent of blood and something metallic and sharp was wafting through the air. It's not like she tried, but she still could tell apart the sounds - Calot's blade swiftly slicing through both flesh and metal, and Liari's tentacles tearing through androids like butter. The splatter of blood, the clink of scraps against the rocks, the wet sound of body parts falling to the ground. The fear was causing nausea and weakness - because there was nothing she could do to stop it - Ayu knew it all too well.
"Remember, the doctor mentioned she might be stronger than she looks," another robotic voice grumbled loudly from the bushes, trampling over the nearest shrubs and a cascade of bullets exploded above their heads. "But we'll see about that..." the next shot in their direction was blocked by Liari's tentacle, and the smell of gunpowder sharply cut through the air. Bluebell was standing her ground, keeping the enemy at the distance - but not far enough to not hear what they were talking about.
"Doctor..?" Ayu opened her eyes and repeated unconsciously, her lips mouthed the word soundlessly. Doctor. It grasped her attention amidst the havoc around, but not in a good way... Her hold on Liari's arm started to shiver from something different than fear and the grasp of her fingers weakened. Ayu felt as if she was going to collapse at the sight of the blood and figures laying on the ground. It was simply too much...
"Fuck," someone else cursed on the side. "Wished Yibai would warn us about the others before he told us the objective. Regroup!" one of the combatants growled an order to others, spitting on the ground. There was another flash of light followed by a loud bang ringing in their ears. Some loose branches caught on fire, and smoke coiled above them like an ominous marking. There was yelling and the ground started to soak in the blood from the killed androids, while the rest didn't hesitate to continue their assault.
But it all blurred, slipping away from her awareness.
Doctor. Yibai. Doctor Yibai.
Her thoughts were fixed on that. At first Ayu's mind wasn't going to process what her ears have heard, but her eyes widened when after a heartbeat, it all sank in... And the realization, like a heavy pitch black fog, fell on her, clutching her lungs in an iron grasp. Everything went quiet despite Liari's and Calot's voices, the sounds of the fight, and the yelling all around them. Her trembling hands let go of the Bluebell's arm and held onto the fabric of her shirt, right above her chest. Her heart was painfully pounding against her ribs. It felt like it wasn't going to calm down anytime soon... Not now, not later. Panic started to pump adrenaline into Ayu's bloodstream, and any remains of sedatives that were still in her body were swept away by this sinister, sobering sensation. The metallic taste dyed her tongue. It was hard to breathe, but she spoke nonetheless.
"G-Grandfather... D-Did?" Ayu asked with disbelief, taking a step forward in hope that someone would hear her and deny this obvious sin. As soon as she heard herself talking, a brief hope withered in an instant. Despite her weak legs and throbbing pains, she squeezed away from Liari's protective embrace, staring in the direction where she heard the voices. Her shaking tone was full of sorrow as the tears started to gather in the corner of her eyes, streaming down her cheeks. The feeling of betrayal was vicious. It fell on her so suddenly with the awareness that no matter how hard she tried, how badly she wanted to be accepted... Her grandfather never saw her as his granddaughter, let alone a part of his family. Maybe he didn't even see Ayu as her own person, given how easily he ordered others to capture her. As if she was something less... Her lips were trembling while she was stopping herself from weeping loudly. All this time when he was gone, when she was worried sick, it seemed that he was alive and well behind her back, even going as far as to order someone to kidnap her. For what would Zhang do this? And why? For what reason was he endangering the lives of Liari and Calot, to simply capture her and bring her somewhere else..? Maybe it was a misunderstanding, perhaps, just maybe... Maybe he just wanted to call for her? But it was a bloody mess... No. No. Who was she trying to deceive? She was betrayed, facing the unknown, with death's chilling breath on her neck.
Shaking like a leaf Ayu wrapped her arms around herself, feeling the nauseating weakness again. Lost. She was lost. The energy jumped again, stabbing her nerves, not letting her forget about the thing that lead her to the wasteland in the first place. Something was still happening with her body, and it wasn't going to stop even if the area will be safe again. Trying to get a hold of her breathing, she was doing her best to stand still... There was mayhem all around her and the fight continued, but Ayu couldn't focus on anything. Her head was still filled with an echo of the same thought - over and over again. A knife in her back from a person she never expected it. Zhang didn't have to love or care... She didn't wish for it anymore, but why he came to this length to capture her? Worse, what would he do to her if they'd catch her? Why he didn't bat an eye at the thought that people around her will get killed? Why...
As if guided by instinct, Ayu suddenly raised her head to see through tears more figures emerging from the greenery in front of them. They all were undetectable androids, some of them bloodied, with cut limbs, and smashed chests, miraculously still functioning. They were approaching them from every possible angle, quicker than anyone could spot... Fear kicked in as strong as lighting, shaking away the thoughts about Zhang.
"N-No," Ayu took a step back, standing closer to Liari's side. "Stay a-away..." she stuttered, raising her arms protectively. She did it in a weak attempt to shield them, but before they could do anything - as sharp as a blade pain hit her head from within and Ayu felt blood slowly dripping from her nose. She blinked, with a dreading gaze looking up at the androids in front of her.
Something happened... Even if the whole scene was unrevealing in a split second, Ayu watched in horror what just unfolded in front of her eyes. The heavily armored person that was the closest to them didn't even stop when the vines and leaves burst out of their chest. The roots dug into the flesh and mechanism quickly, ripping those apart, the robotic limbs were torn away from the body as easily as old rags. There were sparks and a splatter of fluids. The dark, sticky liquid, be it blood or oil dripped on the grass, and the parts of the flesh that the plants pulled out fell to the ground heavily - finally in the middle of the step, the rest of the figure collapsed, torso severed from the legs. The gore scene happened too quickly, there wasn't even as much of a scream, and the android was dead, inactive, gone. Ayu's face paled in terror. Her eyes widened, but unknowingly to her, the irises of her eyes started to glow faintly. Did she... It wasn't possible. No one here other than her could manipulate flora like that. Did... D-Did she just..? Her whole body was trembling as if spasming and the staggering Ki started to raise - in this chaotic, painful manner that betrayed that Ayu was losing it. How could she not..?
She killed someone.
"N-N-No..." Ayu paled more, her face looking akin to old porcelain. Now in full panic, she was glued to the spot she was standing, unable to take a mere step. Fear twisted her stomach in a painful knot. She raised her hands, holding her head that hurt so much she was scared it was going to split open - but it wasn't important now. She couldn't avert her eyes, despite bitter tears seeing with every vivid detail what have happened. What has she done? There was one body... Two bodies. A similar thing happened to another android that took one step too close to her - and they were blown to bloody pieces when a set of green vines ripped them in half. The tendrils sprouted from the ground shielding them from bullets and abruptly another person collapsed. Three bodies, because another enemy fell victim to the vines. Four. Five. And more - she couldn't count anymore as she wasn't able to calm down. "N-No... Stop..." an appalled whisper barely escaped her mouth.
Ayu never killed anyone. She wouldn't, she couldn't even bring herself to hurt or say something mean to anyone... She didn't wish for that. She never wanted her powers to hurt or kill others..! And yet, it was all out of her control. Drunk on fear and guilt, her spirit weakened. Guided by her dread the plantlife started to act on its own - creating a bloodbath, similar to the one Calot and Liari served a moment earlier... But Ayu couldn't stop it. Her Ki was a chaotic mess fueled by her dismay and dread, raising... And raising, with crackles of energy creating goosebumps on her skin. The vines and plants started to tangle all around, overpowering the enemy that seemed to realize that it was a matter of time before their number will be greatly reduced. More androids burst open when the flora claimed their robotic bodies, innocent flowers blooming on their remains. Sharpened roots were cutting the limbs sprouting from the ground to slash unexpected enemies. The thorned vines like barbed wires sliced through both metal and flesh, they twisted and crumpled whatever they touched. It was getting worse with every second...
And it was all Ayu's fault. The energy was not only leaking, but it was also pouring out of her body now and she had no means of stopping it. If she only could, she would scream - but even her voice betrayed her.
"N-No... Enough. P-Please, stop..." she pleaded weakly, painfully falling to her knees. Ayu was holding her head, her nails digging into her skin. She could feel the flora. Plants weren't angry. They were merely protective, but because she was still choking on her fear, they weren't going to calm down either... And the more damage was done, the deeper Ayu spiraled down into panic. "Stop. S-stop..." she begged... Finally, the Ki reached a certain limit - but it wasn't going to listen to her wishes and cease the mayhem. The fabric of the weighted straps around her waist, wrists, and ankles started to tear and it all snapped out of her body. Her energy skyrocketed now free from the safety anchor that was keeping her Ki in place. The ground around cracked like fragile glass. Ayu coughed up blood, quickly covering her mouth. Almost instantly a familiar pattern appeared on her skin, burning with a glowing marking way stronger than she remembered. The forest floor started to shake. Her power slipped away from her a while ago... It felt like a crack on a mighty dam - once the pressured Ki started to flow, she couldn't hold it back. "I-I can't s-stop it..." she cried in panic. The gap was growing wider and soon, very soon, the whole dam was going to collapse. That's how it felt. That's how it was.
She tried. Gods know, she tried, but when the energy started pouring out, she couldn't do it... Any attempt at even grasping the control that she lost hit her again with a very familiar, numbing pain, that stabbed her skull, and sharp aching echoed in her body. Were all those times she tried to focus on her Ki warnings? When energy ricocheted back at her, she never suspected that it could one day lead to disaster like that... It was all her fault. She should have done something, she should have looked for answers more, she should have... What was the point if Ayu wasn't even sure what she was searching for? The forest around was growing quiet, the blood and the sweat marking the soil. Did the enemy retreat? She didn't know, she couldn't see. It felt like nature was waiting for her move and soon, very soon - it would all go amok. Maybe there was something she still could do before that happens..? Even a chance for that would be enough...
"Get away," she mumbled with an unexpectedly loud and lucid tone, though her expression was dulled by pain and hysteria. Ayu clenched her fists, her pallid face contrasting with a hint of blood under her nose and mouth. The ribbon slipped away from her braid, and untied hair in long locks moved under the growing wind. Using a moment of clarity in her mind, she lowered her head, daring not to look anyone in eyes in this state. She wanted to stay away to not hurt them, to not worry them... And now? Ayu did not know what was happening, but even she was aware that she lost control and couldn't do anything about it. She t-took lives, even if unintentionally. If it continues - who knows how badly she could injure the two individuals that genuinely cared about her? The people she cared about..? The hot tears dripped down on her hands and the aching wasn't by any means near stopping. Her body was growing weak and apathetic... There was no time. "I said..." Ayu took a ragged breath, "Stay away from me!" she yelled frightened, abruptly raising her arms. The scarce blades of grass that were still unaffected by the frenzied energy grew into stalks as thick as trees. They pushed Calot and Liari away, almost tossing them in the air, alongside any androids that were still there - just at the right moment.
Because immediately after that Ayu screamed and everything around in ten feet radius blew up into a wild and chaotic jungle... The vines swallowed her, hiding her behind a solid, verdant wall while the area around, the whole wasteland, started to change. It was being covered in a thick layer of very uncontrollable greenery. The wilderness grew claiming the bare land one yard by second, spreading the Ki on the parched soil and changing the desolate place into vivid forests. The plants were reinforced by the inhuman energy, drawing the power from the source, changing this forgotten place into tropical woods full of life...
... But at what cost?

For every android Liari destroyed, two... or rather, perhaps one-and-a-half more took its place. These machines could be devestated, shredded in ways that would make even the most detached human being cringe in disgust and SOMEHOW they were still able to function! What even WAS this!? Did these things have redundancies in EVERY part of their body or something! A lash from a tentacle would RIP open the chest of a male android but it would quickly rise to its feet again. The majin would LOP off the head of another getting too close, only for the body to come at her still, guided by the cold, soulless eyes of its decapitated head!
What was WORSE, even, was that these things were STRONG as a unite. Their individual power would hardly pose a challenge to the majin herself... but between their persistence, their team-strategies and their lack of an energy-signature to lock onto, the majin was having to focus with SERIOUS intent just to keep the monsters away!
"GET BACK!" Liari ROARED, her aura FLARING ferociously, lighting up the night as Calot went to work with his blade, His sword glinted off the pink glow of her energy as he sliced through simulated flesh and metal in an effort to stall their advance!
...Trying... and failing.
They were coming from all directions and they were pushing in, walking over the bodies of their TOTALLY DESTROYED compatriots only to attack just as relentlessly as they. There was chatter amongst them, communications lost to the majin amongst the sound of smashing metal and discharging cables... but whatever they said, it caught Ayu's attention... and now she was fighting to get out of Liari's grip!
"Hey... What are you-" Liari growled, looking down at her older sister for a moment as she PULLED at her arm! This distraction got the majin a sharp CRACK across the jaw from a female android, snapping her face to the side! ...The next thing that android saw was a fist SMASHING across HER face, sending her FLYING over the horizon!
"AYU!? ARE YOU STUPID!?" Liari GROWLED in both desperation and outrage! It was like she was COMPLETELY oblivious to what was going on! "GET BACK HERE AND BEHIND ME! NOW!"
...Either Ayu didn't hear her... or she didn't care very much because she stood there in the middle of it all, blankly staring out into the chaos as if she'd just seen her own child die! The look on her face read like a woman who'd lost everything, her eyes wide, almost soulless between the shock and the pain, her body trembling like a dead leaf about to detach from a stem. A small detachment of androids moved in close around her and Liari TRIED to intervene, SPRINGING for Ayu in a desperate bid to pull her away, only for THREE MORE mechanical beasts to JUMP HER from the shadows and pull her away!
"AYU!" She screamed with fear! "AYU NO! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGH!" A massive BURST of power ERUPTED from Liari, BLASTING BACK her captors as she SHOT back to Ayu's side, her tentacles SLAPPING BACK the encroaching androids and BLASTING them once they fell back far enough! The majin huffed and puffed heavily, exertion setting in for the magical being. Too many... there was just too many to fight AND keep Ayu safe! Speaking of her... was she still there?
Liari spared a glance back to see that her older sibling had retained enough sense to stick close to her flank, the poor woman begging for the machines to stop, to stay away, to-
"Ayu, you... you're...." Liari blinked with shock and concern, blood dribbling down from Ayu's nose in a fresh and steady stream. Time slowed down for Liari as she beheld her sister, the only one who EVER loved her... beginning to fall apart. The majin's eyes shot wide, fearful, her lips contorted in a silent scream as Ayu held a hand up over her mouth... and HACKED UP a glob of blood large enough to splatter the ground if left unimpeded.
"AYU!?" Liari mouthed, but no sound came out, breath stolen from her. She... No... No... Not Ayu... Not her, no... A sharp KAIAI BLASTED back another wave of androids as Liari SHOT over to her sibling's side, crouching down before her arms extended to take her into an embrace... but the majin froze... Ayu's skin... it was HOT with power! The ground SHOOK and almost SPLIT underneath them as raw, unbridled energy PULSATED AND SURGED around them, GATHERING from within, and then throughout the ground around Ayu, bathing them all in natural... and unnatural energies!
"Oh no..." Liari gasped, her heart SIEZING in her chest, tears starting to roll down her cheeks. "AYU! STOP YOU... YOU'LL KILL YOURSELF! DON'T!" ...But she couldn't... Ayu said as much, begging for everyone to just get away! Liari could feel it inside of her, Ayu's ki like a tea-kettle on a burning stove for too long. Any minute now, she was gonna BURST... and Kami KNOWS what kind of damage it was going to do!
"AYU!" Liari screamed! "AYU!"
BOOM!
...And then, there was green. That's all that there was: Green.
Liari... awoke some time later, letting out a low, throaty groan, her eyes flicking open and... NOT seeing the sky... In fact, there WAS no sky to speak of only... a canopy so THICK and expansive over their heads, they might as well have been in a forest of green... and brown. Branches as thick as Liari's whole body ARCHED over head like the arms of god himself, his infinite fingers reaching UP and over the horizon... or at least seemed too with the ground twisted, torn and reformed around a still mass of roots. As she looked down at herself, she found that she was... impaled on one of these roots, its tendril arching up, over and into her chest, pinning her to the ground as she stared at it in disbelief...
...It hurt... It... She...
"NNNNNNNNNNGH!" Liari SCREAMED as she PULLED herself off the root, her body almost splitting in HALF before she was able to RIP herself free of it! Blood dribbled off the edge of the root in long, purple drops, Liari staring at them in shock... then down at the wound in her chest. Blood oozed from it in a small amount, even as it closed. She... She had never thought that... Ayu could...
"AYU!" Liari froze, realizing WHERE she was and WHAT was important! "AYU!" Liari screamed, desperately trying to sense here energy! "AYU! WHERE ARE YOU!?"

Why.
Why, why, why, why... WHY? Why it all happened? Ayu wanted to scream the pain out, yet her throat was barely swallowing any tears. The hot teardrops were running down her face and she could feel the unsettling taste of blood in her mouth. The soldier group that was made of androids and Earthlings wasn't here anymore, their Ki's died out, stifled under the raging strength of nature. The pained energy of the blue Majin and Saiyan warrior told her that they didn't escape unharmed... The vastness of the flora around was by all means terrifying. Ayu's body started shivering as if the fever was burning her every nerve. The vines were breaking boulders with ease, the roots clawed the soil while new unnaturally huge, and predatory plants were sprouting from the ground. They didn't know what they were attacking, they were simply running in amock - in hopes of getting rid of the panic that was overwhelming her right now. For the first time in her life, Ayu was scared of her bond with nature... Because what kind of people attack others like that..? Her knees were weak and there was no more strength in her arms. She curled on the bed of the greenery, in a small space that the plants left intact for her... They turned their might and destructive frenzy to the world outside but it didn't make it better.
It was a numbing fear. The sensation could be compared to a broken bowl that wasn't able to contain all the energy poured inside. Her strength has become the power of the flora, leaving very little behind for her... And as the Ki-fed plants were raging, fighting against the others without a rhyme or reason, she wasn't able to do anything to stop them. While her life force was slipping away, Ayu could only clench her trembling fists. She tried, gods, she tried to keep it in. Even now with whatever power she had left she relentlessly tried to stop this outbreak, yet while it was sent loose... It didn't work. The flora soaked so much of her energy they were acting on their own, trying to protect her from the pain and terror that she felt before - when she realized that her grandfather betrayed her.
Being deceived and backstabbed felt like a jab of fire to her chest. Ayu was laying on the cool grass, sensing every inch of her body being hot with power. And this place... It was dark here. Her head was splitting from pain so she was only able to look at her surrounding through half-open eyes. The light of dawn appearing on the horizon was visible through some spaces between the vines and branches, letting in a dull grey glow. It looked like an empty sphere, a bubble under all the vines that were created to keep her safe. Of course, by some bitter luck or unspoken law of nature, the roots and twigs around her didn't even scratch her. But Ayu was panicking nonetheless... Her anxiety was soundless, exhausting. She was terrified and her state was getting worse with every minute - it was hard to breathe. The more unstable she was the more uncontrollable energy was fed to the plant life. And what they did, what she did... The terror in Ayu's mind was only increasing, creating a cycle that wasn't going to be easy to break.
"I'm s-sorry, she whispered in a raspy, shaking voice.
All around them the roots, like giant snakes, were covering the ground, the raging Ki wrapped this part of Wasteland with a green, vivid blanket. Not everything was about plants raging - clear proof that Ayu herself was fighting the outbreak. The sea of poppies grew up between the trees. Some of the bushes, vines, and blossoms were sprouting taking over the dry, unforgiving soil of this part of the Earth. Each time a root as thick as a tree trunk broke the ground, the fragments were covered with soft vegetation, as if making up for the destruction that was still unfolding. Every element, every part of nature has so many faces. Be it a peaceful, serene side or the brutal and cruel laws that it used to rule the world... Maybe that's why, for better or for worse, she still was part of it, sensing every tiny sprouting in the area - alongside every Ki signature blurring into nothingness.
I'm s-so sorry... Ayu repeated weakly, not knowing who she ought to ask for forgiveness anymore.
While her voice was choking on tears, the trembling, frail sound of her heart had something to say... Even if all Ayu could mutter by telepathy was a distraught and doleful apology.
I-I'm so s-sorry...
Bluebell was still there. Ayu wasn't sure if she could hear her voice or not but her presence was nearby... She was sure about that. And that was equally reassuring and terrifying, as it was possible that she could be injured again. That felt pretty selfish... Being glad to know that her little sister was still here despite her hurting, while she should be running away for her own safety. Liari was injured, she sensed her energy dropping a bit and turning into a pained, worried, and somber hue. Ayu never wished for that... Yet in the end, her outbreak hurt and killed people around her. Liari was in pain because of her, because she couldn't control her energy and she broke down. She won't be ever able to forgive herself.
L-Leave, her faint, tearful voice could be heard from within Bluebell's mind as Ayu tried to speak to her telepathically. That was the only way, as her own voice had no strength left. Please. I'm begging y-you, she hid her face in her hands, laying there on the grass inside her green prison. Liari, p-please... G-Go. I don't w-want to h-hurt you... But she did - her voice painfully cracked. The noise of rustling plants and roots smashing against the ground was as vicious and powerful as a thunderstorm... Yet the loudest sound Ayu heard was the painful ruptures slowly breaking her heart apart. I c-can't control- she stopped speaking, feeling another cold shiver on her spine. The tears filling her eyes and the panic clutching her chest were making it harder to find the right words to say. There was no justification for what she did. I'm t-trying, I really a-am, I-I-
Ayu realized that she couldn't move. Not like she had any strength to... The vines wrapped softly but firmly around her legs, growing up to the hips and her waist. It didn't hurt. They were as hard as stone and weakened as she was, pushing them aside wasn't possible. There was no malicious intent there, it was impossible to say so about the plant life but... She closed her eyes. It didn't matter if the vegetation will swallow her and kept her deeper, she still needed to try to stop it. Even if it felt so hopeless.
I'm s-so sorry, Bluebell... Ayu apologized softly. All this was because of her... Because she wasn't able to keep her powers in check. It seemed that despite her high power level, she wasn't exactly that strong. I c-can't control it. My e-energy, it d-doesn't listen. I d-don't know h-h-how to stop it, I- she started explaining incoherently yet her inner voice grew weaker. Her Ki was all over the place. The energy that was building up inside of her for months finally broke out of her shell. It wasn't a leak. It wasn't like a bowl as she thought before, she couldn't compare it to shackles or a bond. It felt more like a dam collapsed and everything that was kept inside rushed flowing out.
As she heard another stone hill in the Wasteland crush down, she coughed up some blood. If this keeps up... Calm down. She had to calm down. She was clenching her fists so hard the nails were digging into her skin. How could Ayu quieten herself after everything that happened? Her grandfather wanted her neutralized and taken captive. She has murdered people in a very brutal way, a-and her power - power other warriors said they envy her - hurt those she held dear. It wasn't a blessing but a curse. Maybe she was broken from the very beginning, that's why her energy was so hurtful. How could she find peace of mind now? She tried, of course, she tried but... Perhaps it would be better to let her Ki run out dry like that so it could all finally stop. Without any living person nearby she won't have to fear taking an innocent life like that. But what if it takes too long..? What if it won't make any difference..?
Ayu won't hold it against Liari if she would have do whatever was necessary to stop this mess.

Liari winced as she waded through the ocean of writhing roots, branches and leaves, having to tear her feet up with each step lest she is pulled down by the ever-shifting tide of foliage! Energy signatures... they were off the charts and EVERYWHERE! It was like each and every tree, leaf, and root were all part of Ayu, flowing with her energy as much as they did sap! Liari couldn't sense the source... HELL, she couldn't see more than ten feet in front of her! Liari had to constantly cut, blast and pull her way through to where she had seen Ayu last... in the hope she could save her from herself. Liari's ears perked when she heard the weak, rasping voice of her sister reverberate through the dark, begging for forgiveness over and over!
"Ayu..." Liari whispered, her eyes starting to bubble up with tears... "Ayu... No... Please, don't apologize... You couldn't help yourself..." Another slice through the growing plants... She could almost see something now. It was like a nexus of sorts, a nucleus from which this new forest-like grove had sprung. Ayu stood in the center like a prisoner of her own making, enveloped from the waist down in vines and roots thicker than the majin's head... and they were slowly creeping their way upward! The majin stared in abject horror at what Ayu was doing to herself... It was like some kind of monster was slowly consuming her bit-by-bit, breaking her down with its infinitely many tendrils! Disgust flashed across Liari's face before she LUNGED for her sibling, GRABBING hold of the roots and DESPERATELY trying to pry them off! Ayu begged for the majin to go, to run, to SAVE herself! She didn't want to hurt her if Ayu lost any more control! Liari let out a growl of frustration in response, managing to RIP off one of the larger roots, only for a dozen smaller ones to sprout in their place!
"You're not ALLOWED TO SAY THAT!" Liari roared over Ayu, the smaller green girl still trying to shoo her away! "You don't get to give up! We're family... Aren't we...?" Liari locked eyes with her sister, cupping her face in her hands. She could feel the raw energy flowing through her like an overloading wire, as if a reactor were leaking out just beneath her skin! Fresh tears rolled down the majin's cheek as she leaned in and wrapped her arms around Ayu, squeezing her tightly as the roots began to creek around her as well!
"...I won't leave you..." Liari whispered, touching her forehead to Ayu's. "...No matter what. I will never leave you... I love you..." Liari winced as roots stabbed at her shoulders and side before deciding to creep over them, pinning the majin against Ayu's body as the forest closed in on them. Ayu whispered her fears to Liari, how she couldn't stop any of it, how she didn't know what to do... Liari sniffled softly and smiled, gently pulling her sister's head against her chest! "...Just listen to me... Just listen to my voice... We'll figure this out... We always do..." A root DUG into the Majin's back at a horizontal angle, piercing out the side of her chest... but Liari showed no concern... even as blood rolled down the corner of her mouth, Liari smiled soothingly as she cradled her sister.
"Focus on me... Please... Let your mind relax... let the energy slow to a stop..." Liari spoke slowly, her tone of voice low and welcoming. "...Do not let any of this distress you... don't let discomfort distract you... Focus on me... Focus-" Another root pierced into Liari's shoulder, Liari's expression contorting into a wince... "-...Focus on me... You can do it... I know you can... Your energy.... is you... Allow yourself to rest..."

Why Ayu had to put Liari through this ordeal?
The Majin refused to listen to her apologies, breaking her heart once more. Of course. She would have done the same, against all the logic and reason. There was no surprise in her behavior but Ayu couldn't help but feel conflicted. Everything in her wished for Liari to save herself, to run away... Yet, she was also glad that in this moment of panic when anxiety swallowed her and left her breathless - Bluebell was here for her. This only added to her guilt, because what right Ayu had to be glad about that..? That was selfish and egoistical... Maybe she was worth withering here, in this green prison silently.
As she thought about it, something else disturbed the sound of rustling plants. Slashing noises, roots were snapped in halves, vines were cut and broken to pieces. Someone, against all odds, was fighting.
There was some light, movement, and a clear voice she knew appeared right there, by her side. Liari. Her energy was next to her, she in person was pulling her closer while ignoring her own pain. The blank pale yellow eyes looked up at the blue face - Ayu barely recognized her. Her lips moved though no voice was heard as if she wanted to tell her something... And yet it remained outspoken. Maybe Ayu wanted to thank her, maybe again tell her to save herself... It felt like not so long ago Ayu was the one cradling Liari in her arms, so glad that she came back alive to her from what has happened in West City. Now, her little sister was comforting her when the storm of her powers was raging everywhere around her. And hot tears were silently rolling down her cheeks. Family. Among this hurricane of pain, this strong embrace brought some rare comfort and Ayu stopped shivering... Or maybe her muscles didn't even have the energy to tremble anymore?
She couldn't even weep anymore.
The young woman just couldn't believe that he did it... That he betrayed her. He gave her to strangers that came to fetch her like an object, ready to catch her or even hunt her down like a stray animal. Who with any amount of human decency would do that to a person they adopted..? Somehow Ayu wasn't able to get angry. She was heartbroken and disappointed, her hopes were trampled upon and yet she couldn't get mad. In the hindsight, there was nothing that Zhang owned her. He took her in, gave her shelter, food, and clothing and that was the end of the contract - anything else was simply Ayu's hope. Her delusions, perhaps... She quietly longed for his care and attention, like any child looking for love from their guardian. Yet, it never happened. It hurt her, but she learned to live with it and then stopped expecting anything from Zhang Yibai... But she was lonely. And in the end, she might have unconsciously held onto some expectations that were now brutally stomped to the ground...
And the lives she took? The sensation of energy fading to nothing, the sight of plant life bursting out of flesh, tearing humans apart while the vines twist and turn. Her stomach was already wrung into a knot and now she was certain she won't have the appetite for the next week. She was a murderer. She took the liberty to take lives... It wasn't her decision though, she didn't mean it - yet it burned her conscience all the same. The matter of calming down her heart and soul seemed to be out of her reach now.
Bluebell, Ayu's voice whispered in her head, she couldn't even move an inch. Her body was too weak to do anything, even the picture in front of her eyes was blurring into a grey mess. P-Please... Knock m-me out, she could only plead in a hushed, trembling voice. If her energy was soaked through and through with everything negative she felt, it was clear why the vegetation around went crazy while feeding on it. Ayu couldn't relax. Calming down was a problem, her anxiety and pain only highlighting the tragedy around them. She couldn't help her mind at all, too much has happened already and simply in the span of mere minutes. From someone suffering a headache, she was backstabbed by her adoptive grandfather and turned into a monster that not only killed people, but the plants she loved were also wreaking havoc and hurting Liari so much she wanted to cry her heart out. Majin was putting on a brave face to not let her see the pain... Yet Ayu could see the slithering movements of vines, branches, and roots, digging into her flesh. Her energy was in pain too. She felt warm and sticky blood though she couldn't tell who it belonged to. So maybe, just maybe, if her mind would slip into nothingness her energy could finally stop, freed from burdening emotions. But if that won't work...
I know... I l-love you too, the eyelids have closed as if they were made of lead. Ayu wanted to grab Liari's hand, held it, and thank her so much for staying here with her... But it wasn't the time for that. Her head was getting lightweight. She was sure that she won't just fall asleep anytime soon, the adrenaline pulsing in her ears wasn't letting her... That's why they needed to try. It was the only - almost the only way out. I need to be u-unconscious but if that w-won't work- there wasn't even a shiver on her body when Ayu paused for a second and then calmly finished what she wanted to say. ... Please d-do what you'll have to do.
She didn't want to put such a burden on her - of attacking or maybe finishing her off like that. But if that was the only way Liari could stop her powers from going berserk Ayu would take it anytime. She had Terra to look after. There were so many things Bluebell wanted to achieve... She couldn't let her die here just because her older sister figure was a failure and couldn't control her own energy. It was bitter and she dared to shyly hope for the best outcome. Yet if the worse would come, there be no regrets.

Liari's heart shattered to pieces the moment Ayu's voice touched her mind. Even before her request was made, the majin knew what she wanted her to do... and it was something Liari had been DESPERATE to avoid! Knock Ayu out...? Hurt the one person in the world that LOVED her...? Could she do it? WOULD she do it...? ...Was Liari the kind of person who would let her sister suffer... if it meant she wasn't directly responsible for her pain? ...Liari's heart THROBBED at the internal questioning... but the answer was obvious.
NO. If she stood by and did nothing, who KNEW the amount of pain Ayu would cause herself... WHO KNEW the strife, both physical and emotional, Liari would have all but inflicted by doing nothing? ...Liari knew she would never forgive Ayu if she decided to leave her there, festering in her own madness... How could Liari say she loved her... and refused?
"...I never wanted to hurt you..." Liari whispered softly, whispered, reaching out for Ayu's hand... It was covered in bark, barbed with thorns sharp enough to split EARTH... Liari grabbed it away. Blood seeped from the Majin's hand where the wooden thorns protruded, Liari's eyes filling only with tears of regret and sorrow seeing her sister like this. This was her fault... If she didn't encourage Ayu to use her ki... If she had just LET the darn girl do what she wanted, none of this would have happened! By now, Ayu would've probably still been asleep in her bed, Liari curled around her like a protective dog, warding off nightmares with her body! They would have woken up the next morning, making pancakes and talking about what they'd do today, maybe them all going out into the garden for a big family adventure!
That's how it would've been... if Liari had taken a DAMN SECOND to think what the consequences might've been.
"I hate myself..." Liari whispered, leaning in so that her forehead gently rested against Ayu's. "...This is all my fault... I... I thought I was helping... I'm so stupid..." Each word trembled, DRIPPED with self-loathing, The majin leaning fully against Ayu as if this realization sapped her strength away. "...I tried so hard, Ayu... I tried! I thought I was helping... I thought..." The words choked to a halt in Liari's throat, the blue majin simply shaking her head in despair.
"...I love you..." She whispered, touching Ayu's face. "...Please forgive me because... I don't think I ever can..." A soft pink light began to radiate from the majin, spreading first from the chest... then out over her body. The glow increased in intensity with each pulsation of light, growing brighter and brighter until it encompassed both herself and Ayu within the thorns! SUDDENLY, all the light would SHOOT into Liari's chest... BEFORE EXPLODING OUTWARD IN A BLAST OF PINK ENERGY, blowing apart the thorns the ground, the undisturbed plantlife, SCATTERING THEM ALL FOR MILES! The thunderous sound BLASTED across the landscape as if chasing the debris... leaving behind Liari standing in a crater... with Ayu resting in her arms. If all had gone according to plan, the bioandroid would lay asleep in her arms, roughed up considerably from taking an explosion like that so close... but she was alive.
....A cold comfort for a screwup like Liari.
"This is my fault..." Liari whimpered softly, tears rolling down her cheeks in buckets. "...I hate myself... Hate... HATE.... HATE!"
