Inhale, exhale. Nothing but darkness, with eyes closed shut. It was very frustrating. Inside the mind of this Saiyan, there was nothing but buzzing and static. He couldn't feel anything surging through his body, he couldn't feel anything in his mind. Nothing was being read. Just like the darkness he saw all around him inside his head, the Saiyan was only being left in the dark. He felt his mouth curl up into a grimace, then into a sneer. He felt his eyebrows furrow, and his eyes clench closed tighter. His nose turned and his face turned a tad red with anger. Suddenly, he stood up and yelled into the sky, his Ki flaring up around him and pushing the air outward.
"DAMMIT!"
As his Ki calmed down, so did Jorey. The wind died down around him, no longer affected by the energy he was putting out around him in frustration. His breathing was heavy at first, but as he calmed down, it slowed until it was normal. He opened his eyes again and looked around him. There was no damage to the nature around him, the wind still howling ever so lightly, while the Saiyan stood in the middle of a vast, empty field. Mountains and hills dotted his surroundings, demonstrating how truly alone Jorey was out here. There most likely was life around here with Jorey, but he wouldn't be able to know without being able to sense Ki. That was his objective here. He set up a scenario for himself, with balls of his Ki hovering around him at different distances. He'd known he mastered sensing Ki once he was able to sense the distance between himself and the orbs of energy, and where exactly they were, and how strong they were. The thing is, it's been frustrating Jorey for a while. How do you learn how to sense Ki?
Jorey stomped his foot on the ground, leaving an imprint in the floor, cracking the ground beneath his feet a bit. His fists were balled up, and a sour grimace reappeared on his face. His criticisms came in the form of angry remarks, directed to himself and to the situation in general.
"Dammit! Why is it so hard for me to finally understand how to sense Ki? Is it supposed to be this hard? How come no one ever told me!?"
Jorey had spent weeks, maybe even months, trying to make sense of this skill. Was there some sort of shortcut to it, some sort of concept to be understood beforehand? There was one thing Jorey was able to do research about, asking other martial artists on the planet. He'd spent some time asking them questions about Ki, how to control it, how to sense it, and so many other things. He already knew how to use his own Ki. Now, he needed to understand what it was and how to actually master it. They all said the same things to him: they didn't know how to use it, it was almost impossible to. All that was known from them was that you could sense it, and you need to be able to control it before you're able to use it. They said that Ki was basically an extension of one's self, their life energy. When one loses all their Ki, they could seriously hurt themselves from it. There were many things about this situation that didn't make sense to Jorey, in light of what was said.
Jorey sat back down, his tail curling in the air behind him, as he adopted a pensive look on his face. His thoughts were about his Ki, and how he understood it. He trained his whole life seeing it as a tool, something that he was born with, that he was just able to use. It was a weapon, nothing more, nothing less. So then, what if it wasn't a weapon? What if it was an extension of himself?
How do I recognize this as an extension of me? How do I teach myself that Ki is something that's a part of me, that I was born with, but is more than just a thing that I own? Ki is just as much of me as my arms and legs. Yeah, that's what it is. It's like another limb, or another body part. If I start thinking of it like that, then controlling it and mastering it should be easy! It'll be just like...wait, if I couldn't control it, then how the hell can I even fly? THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!
Jorey stood back up again, enraged, and threw his hand at the air, as if he was trying to hit something in front of him. Immediately, a Ki orb behind him went into motion and started hurtling its way towards Jorey, unbeknownst to him. Surprisingly enough to the Saiyan, the orb never hit him, as Jorey instinctively moved his body out of the way very slightly, in order to dodge it. He felt it coming his way and he instinctively reacted to that feeling. His eyes widened in realization, and he looked behind him just to make sure the ball of Ki wasn't still there. Something was starting to click in his head, inside him in general, and a huge smile formed on his face.
Jorey had the balls of Ki start moving around him again, encircling him at different distances. He immediately sat back down on the floor and started to meditate, trying to concentrate on that feeling he had before. He concentrated harder and harder, making sure not to strain himself while doing it. He was close, he could feel it in his gut. After spending a couple of minutes sitting like that, something was changing inside him. Something was becoming more visible to his body's eyes, not just the ones in his head. He could feel the orbs of Ki orbiting around him, their distance, and how strong they were. He felt that some were stronger than others, and that all of them were weaker than he was. Hell, he could feel his own power. The Saiyan was more than ecstatic. The excitement couldn't be contained on his face, and he let out a triumphant roar as he got to his feet.
"Hell yes! What can I fuckin' say!? I'm him!!"
