Gonna try and learn "Gum-Gum Bombardment " and "Gum-Gum Apocalypse" this topic XD
PL: 1,150,000
After what happened in the city, seeing another or being REMOTELY around another person was the last of the Majin's desires. She craved PEACE, SILENCE, a place to meditate, of all things! Callion must have been tugging at her ear from the grave or something (or at least, her stomach), these feelings coming like cravings, commanding that she obey! The Desert seemed like a suitable enough place, given the lack of human or fighter traffic... and the fact that what few forms of life could survive here typically kept to itself. Sitting herself atop a flat-headed stone pillar, the GIANT 8'3'' Majin sat cross-legged upon its upper face, her hands resting upon her knees as her sanguine eyes fluttered shut...
...Silence... for the moment. Not a voice, not a face... but the blackness of her eyelids. Did... Did something happen when she absorbed those two sayains...? Besides the obvious, SOMETHING just HAD to be keeping those visions at bay for now! Was it... perhaps Callion's discipline, unconsciously keeping those torturous visions out? Could it have been Kombu's sayain blood keeping her focused at the tasks at hand? ...Or could it be that in her original shape, Liari was just INSANE and was slowly losing herself to her own madness...?
"Tch. This doesn't answer any of my questions..." Liari grumbled, flicking her eyes back open and hunching over in disgust. "...It all leaves me with more questions than answers. How did I come to be here...? People are NOT just born in a crater." Flicking through her (or rather, Callion' and Kombu's) memory, watching the images, the assumptions, both realistic and graphical representations of how a child was made! Before, Liari might've blushed and laughed at such a sight, not having the maturity to HANDLE it!
...Now with two adults supplementing her intelligence, all she could do was grunt at it all.
"...I am not a human... or a Sayain... There is something... unique about me... More than the average alien freak on this planet..." Liari raised a hand to her face, rolling it over one way, then the other before CLENCHING her fingers into a fist. "...Who am I? Why am I able to steal the power of others...? Why can't I remember where I came from?"
Existential questions... USELESS questions, but the Majin couldn't help but ponder. Her curiosity only grew with her power, her desire for answers swelling with her intellect... but she must wait... Results, no matter how direly important, did not come at the beck and call of those who sought them. They needed to be uncovered... and Zero had best come up with the goods.
"...Pffft-HA!" Liari smirked, realizing something! "...I went from one of the most pathetic creatures on this planet, losing every serious fight I got myself into.... And now I am a GIANT of power, FAR beyond anyone and ANYTHING else on this planet! I can feel the power in my veins... in my skin... the sheer ENERGY at my command... I can feel my potential just beyond my sight but.... all of that only makes me wonder why I still work for ...him..."

Quash was sitting at the cockpit piloting his ship, with Jorey presumably inside. As looked out into the distance, he saw nothing but sand for miles. He sighed, getting a little bored. Now that Quash had gotten a partnership going, he thought that they could finally make some real progress. Next stop, finding Athren! Or at least, that was the plan. There was one problem though: They had no idea where he could possibly be and they didn't know where to start. It looks like they might just have to be blindly looking until they get lucky.
Athren had to turn up eventu-
Suddenly, all the hairs on Quash's body stood up and he could feel his heart skip a beat.
He was frozen in fear, eyes widening in shock as he almost couldn't believe what he was picking up. His palms immediately began to sweat and his body began to fear. What he was feeling... he couldn't quite describe it. It was as if there was an enormous mass in the middle of the desert. His Ki sense was overwhelmed by what he was detecting, it was like this energy was boundless with no end in sight. It felt as if whatever abyss was present in this barren wasteland had wrapped around his entire body and had begun to pull him in. Feeling like he was being physically dragged into the center of it, Quash used the controls to fly the ship towards it.
It was at this point Quash realized he forgot to exhale.
Letting out a deep breath that came from the bottom of the diaphragm, Quash was in horror as he could see his breath as he got closer and closer to the source of the energy. His teeth chattered as his body began to shiver as it called out for warmth. Was it really that cold? Or was his Ki Sense so overloaded that this was the only way his body to figure out how to process what he was feeling?
The intensity of the energy began to increase more and more the closer he got. It put a certain weight on him that felt like it was getting heavier every second. He felt like he was going to be flattened by raw power alone. He couldn't tell if Jorey had noticed or not, because his brain had blocked everything else out.
After coming within a close enough distance, Quash forced himself to land the ship. He didn't want it to be too close to the source of this energy. As the ship touched the ground, Quash found that it was almost impossible to stand up. Maybe someone left the Gravitron on? Wait no... the artificial gravity didn't cover the entire ship.
It was almost painful. He could feel himself moments away from a panic attack. The Saiyan's primal instincts began to kick in at this point. They were telling him to run, put as much distance between him and this pressure as possible. Any longer and he might even crawl out of his own skin.
Calm down. Quash. You're freaking out. Stop and think.
Quash closed his eyes and counted. Even actively shutting off his Ki Sense.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six. Seven. Eight. Nine. Ten.
He slowly opened his eyes. He was still a little shaken, but at least he could think now.
Quash hesitantly opened up his senses again, trying to see if he could get a better idea of what he was dealing with. He had to do it gradually, or else it would overtake him again.
There was something incredibly strange about this energy... it was unlike anything he had encountered before. He was feeling an amalgamation of sorts. It felt familiar, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. There were three energies that he could make out. He had to actively try and isolate each one to see if he could recognize them. One of them he didn't recognize. The other...
Callion?
Quash was already confused.
What's Callion doing here? Why is his energy so- Hold on. Something's not right. I-It's... suppressed by something? The hell? What is this? Something's forcing me out... I can't hang onto it-
Then came the third energy. This felt a lot more powerful and oppressive than the others. Out of the three of them, this was clearly the one in charge. This power he was now detecting was easily recognizable by Quash, but it only gave him way more questions than answers.
L-Liari?!
Quash pressed the button at the controls in front of him to open the doors to the ship. He stood up, immediately feeling dizzy. He stopped for a moment to regain his balance. He looked at Jorey and nodded to the now open exit to the ship, trying to tell him to get out. He'd make his way towards the exit himself, now outside and exposed. Quash's aura flared to life, though you could visibly see it being tighter than usual as if it was being compressed by something.
For the most part, the energy felt like it was all around them now that they were on the ground. After taking a moment to regain his sense of direction of where the source was, he took flight and headed towards it.
Quash had to see this for himself.

Jorey PL: 29,798 (Current at 7,450) Super Heavy Weights in use Pre-Workout Mix in use (1) Current Location: Diablo Desert Current Timeframe: Daytime
Flying at speeds that he felt could easily be outmatched if he decided to get out of the ship and fly himself, Jorey sat in the middle of the cockpit, behind Quash, who was piloting his ship/training chamber. Who knew that this thing could actually fly. It was a strange yet interesting piece of metal, to say the least. This lone wolf might even consider getting it himself. Regardless, he sat there, sitting on his tail with his legs crossed, irritated at their reason for flying around. They were now in the desert, and neither one of them were able to get ahold of Athren's power. While they hadn't checked everywhere, it felt like it was one of two things: either Athren was able to figure out where they were beforehand and avoid them, or he wasn't even on this planet, anymore. Definitely an irritating thought, but what was even more irritating was Quash's reasoning for trying to find him. Getting off of his tail and grumbling, Jorey turned around and looked at Quash to address him and give in his two cents. "It just doesn't make sense, Quash. Why in the space hell are you tryna find him, of all the people, of all the Saiyans? Wasn't he the one who tricked both of us into looking at that moon? I know I could give less of a shit, 'cuz I really do give less of a shit. He had his reasons, I'm sure. I dunno if they're good or bad reasons, but they're reasons. You, on the other hand, you CLEARLY hate him. So, why? Why even bother looking for him? It's a waste of energy, in my opinion."
It was something Jorey didn't quite understand. If there was a dealer for the PTO that he didn't like to interact with, then he'd avoid him at all costs. It wouldn't be about whether he was stronger than him or not, or if he was scared of them or not, but only because of the fact that he didn't like them. It was simple: reduce interaction with all possible deterrents to a good mood. Yet, here he was on a ship with a guy he'd only met one time before, assisting him in his journey. Jorey looked down at his left wrist, glaring at the handkerchief that Ayu gave him a while back, as if it was the culprit for Jorey doing this. Ever since he met her, he'd been feeling different emotions, thinking differently. He was still cold, still edgy, still ruthless in many different ways, but there was something starting to awaken inside of him because of her. He was, even if it was just a little bit, more compassionate, more empathetic to those around him. He used to not care about his actions at all. Now, he thought about how his actions would affect those he was comfortable with, which at this point was mainly Ayu. The glare that he gave to the handkerchief was hostile at this point, and he clenched his fist as he stared at it. I swear, if I never met you, then I wouldn't be like this.
However, that thought was counter productive. He thought about if he didn't meet Ayu at that point in time, and became a little bitter about that thought. At the end of the day, he was pleased that he met her, even if she caused him to change a bit. Who knows, maybe the change was for the better. Realizing that he got bitter over that thought made Jorey embarrassed and a little pissed. Upon realization, he turned his head away from the handkerchief and got a little flustered. He quickly calmed himself down, and turned back to Quash again. The Saiyan started walking to the pilot of the ship, his brain tired from trying to understand his reasoning for embarking on this journey. At this point, he wanted to try and deter Quash from pursuing this matter further. "Besides, I've lived in the desert before. Trust me, if this is something Athren had experienced before, I doubt he'd wanna come b-"
The sentence Jorey tried to spit out was immediately interrupted. There was nothing more he could say. Something nearby was emitting an insanely high energy, more than Jorey could even hope to match up to where he's at right now. It was beyond terrifying. He couldn't even move after sensing this energy, and it felt like beads of sweat were pouring down his head. He watched as a couple of them per minute dropped down his nose, cheeks, and even off his chin. Oh, shit, I really am sweating buckets. Is this what 'fear' feels like? I don't like it, make it stop, please.
The real kicker for this part was that Quash immediately started flying towards the energy signature. Jorey's eyes opened even wider than before, and he glared at Quash, confused and almost pissed. "Quash, what are you doing? Why are you going to the freakishly, scary, high power level? Are you tryna get us killed?"
However, there was no answer coming from the pilot of this ship. Jorey stopped sweating profusely and gritted his teeth when he realized he wasn't getting to him. He was able to will his body to move again, but he couldn't get himself close to the cockpit considering the situation with Quash. He was a lost cause, and Jorey knew he didn't know how to fly this thing. There was no point in trying to stop him. "Tch, just my luck today. I shoulda stayed back at Yunzabit."
Jorey made his way to the doors of the ship and waited for Quash to open the doors. He knew what was coming next, and he didn't like it. The pilot was going to open the doors of the ship and go investigate what was going on in this desert. Classic heroic move, definitely something worth doing. You know, if this was a horror movie, we'd be the first ones to die. Usually, you run away from the danger, but y'know, when did common sense ever really play a part in any decision we make, nowadays? Totally overrated.
He tightened the handkerchief around his wrist, calming down a bit more and trying to take everything in rationally. Instead, he got distracted by the feeling he was getting from that power level. What the hell was that? It felt like two Saiyans, but then something else entirely was making up that energy signature. It felt like Plasma, a little bit. What the hell was wrong with this planet? Quash ended up joining Jorey at the door, wide open and giving way to the scorching heat of the desert. The look Quash gave Jorey only made him roll his eyes at the other Saiyan, looking back outside and preparing himself to make an encounter with the power signature. "If I die today, I swear, I'm gonna kill you."
This was quite possibly the dumbest decision ever made by someone Jorey knew. He didn't want to be here, for sure, but now that he was here there was nothing that could be done. He exited the ship, looking around at the vast wasteland, as if he didn't notice the insanely high power level practically right next to them. Yup, this desert is very desert.
Jorey watched as Quash took to the skies, following close behind, as they made their way to the insane power level. When they touched down, Jorey landed a few feet to the left of Quash, wary of the presence they were now almost face-to-face with. Word Count: 1,295

Liari's eyebrow twitched as the feeling of two energies ROCKETING her way touched upon her senses! One she... had a vague recollection of... It was so hard to sort though all her old and new memories... The other one, not so much. Her sanguine eyes stared off in the distance in the direction of these powers, a small, sharp-toothed smile coming across her face! They had to be coming here for her, right...? Even the Majin knew of how her power FLOODED this world! No doubt there wasn't a single person on the planet that couldn't feel her energy... it was only a matter of knowing who the cowards might be.
"Oh...? A pair of challengers...?" Liari mused, slowly climbing to her full height! "Well, then... Let's see if they can keep up with me." INSTANTLY, Liari would SHOOT towards the challengers to cut them off halfway... but, as she approached at UNFATHOMABLE SPEEDS... she became aware of how... WEAK they were! Like... UNDERWHELMINGLY SO! How disappointing... But then again.... Liari's sanguine eyes glowed a BRIGHTER RED, her smile WIDENING into an evil, chaotic smile!
...A little fear was always a fun time.
The MOMENT they got within sight, Liari would STOP DEAD before the two sayains, carrying with her a whirlwind so mighty, it might've kicked up a whole STORM had they been anywhere less dry! She towered over them both by at least two and a half feet, the deep blue majin smirking arrogantly! Voltage crackled around her form as her passive energy SPARKED charge within the air, a soft pink glow of power radiating around her hands! Liari's sharp, chaotic gaze first fell upon Jorey, her smile growing WIDER... before flicking her gaze over at Quash... that smile falling from her lips...
"Hm..." She rumbled, her voice low, throaty, far deeper than what Quash might remember. She stared at him, studying his face, his clothes, the fact he was practically sweating through his clothes!
"...I recognize you." Liari rumbled, pointing a finger at Quash, her sinister smile returning in force! "You were one of the ones who fought me before. A pity, I don't recall your name... You must be far too weak for me to remember! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Liari chuckled, crossing her arms over her chest as she enjoyed a good laugh! Of course, she knew who this was. Quash, Captain of the Sayains, that guy she fought during one of her moments of boredom. ...And now, little more than a throw-pillow to the giant blue majin. His companion, though, he was unfamiliar and even LESS notable... Probably a servant-boy Quash had brought along, a bullet-sponge for when he needed one.
In a flash, a mere half-instant, Liari would APPEAR behind both sayains, her back practically touching both of theirs as she stared straight ahead, the majin clearly thinking NOTHING of these two!
"...I wonder who might miss you if you were to just... disappear." Liari mused darkly... before WHIRLING around to grab Quash's head, aiming to THROW the man into Jorey and send them both CRASHING to the ground! If she succeeded, Liari would slowly lower herself to the earth, raising a finger with the smallest pink energy-sphere coagulating at its tip! "...Sayains. So prideful. So hungry. Always looking for the next fight even if it kills you." She leveled her finger at the pair of men. Firing a pair of thin, blade-like beams at their faces, aiming to cut BOTH across their cheeks shallowly, a display of control rather than anything else!
She looked to Quash once more.
"...But what about now...? You're afraid, scared of me... aren't you? Do you feel guilty... knowing your friend will die here with you?"

Quash had admittedly ignored Jorey's complaints. He was far too concerned with Liari's ki. Hell, he wasn't even sure it was really her yet. Her energy was nothing like this the last time they met. Normally, he'd be impressed that a friend of his was able to achieve overwhelming power, but... this was worrying. This power felt so unnatural that he couldn't help but be a little concerned. Did something happen? What did he miss?
As he kept flying with Jorey in tow, Quash immediately felt something wrong. The energy signature they were following, they were closing in fast. Too fast. Way too fast. He knew they weren't turtles, but Quash wasn't so arrogant to think that he'd be able to move at this speed after only a couple of days of gravity training. As he paid more attention to the energy as it was approaching at speeds he couldn't quite fathom, the horrifying truth suddenly hit him:
Liari was coming toward them.
She must've sensed them when they landed. This shouldn't have been so surprising, but this whole encounter felt so off that even common sense wasn't exactly that common at this point. Before he even knew it, he saw a figure in the distance. As soon as Quash blinked, he immediately came to a screeching halt. His blue carefree friend was already upon them, cutting them off. A powerful gust of wind blasted him right after her arrival, his hair waving in the opposite direction as he could feel himself being gradually pushed back. As Quash crossed his arms in front of his face to shield himself, he looked back in the direction he flew in. He could even still see his ship in the distance! They hadn't gotten far at all. Now that he was this close, there was no doubt the overwhelming energy was coming directly from her. His mind was still trying to wrap its head around how powerful she now was. He had no idea how to gauge her abilities or anything! At this point, she could literally fart, and it'd probably cause a hurricane!
Once the wind began to die down, Quash was finally able to get a good look at her. From his facial expression, it was clear that he was at a loss for words. Everything about her was... different. The last time he saw her he was looking down at her, now he was looking up. She had gotten big, and not in the cute "awe, they've grown up so much" way either. On top of that, her face and hair-tentacle-thing had completely changed too. It was almost like he was looking at a completely different person. Her shirt, where had he seen that before... Callion! When Quash was learning the Three Section Staff, Callion had the exact same thing on. Had she become his student or something? Maybe that was related to the reason why Quash could sense his energy coming from her.
At this point, the only reason why Quash knew it was Liari was because of her ki and that he had only ever seen one blue gumball before in his entire life. It was unsettling, and that wicked smile didn't help either.
Liari began to laugh at how weak they were, and Quash couldn't help that she was acting oddly sinister. Before, she was just cocky and immature. This on the other hand... was largely different. Not only that, but she didn't even remember his name. They had an entire sparring session together! They even talked afterward! She looked so happy to have made a friend out of him, and they were even supposed to have a rematch when they met next! He couldn't have mattered so little to her... could he? He didn't think he came off that weak in their previous fight, but hell, maybe he was wrong.
"It's Quash. Liari, what happened to y-"
His heart stopped again.
The source of the energy was now directly behind him. He looked back, blown away at how quickly she got behind him! He didn't see her move! Since when did she learn teleportation? (And where could he learn something like that!). In any case, being this close was not good for him at all. Quash felt the seemingly limitless energy hug his body again, feeling the same chill that he had felt when he had arrived. He couldn't even shut off his senses at this point. It was as if her energy was forcing itself in!
Quash somehow already knew this wasn't going to end well. He knew a display of dominance when he saw one, and this was definitely it. Unfortunately, this was just the beginning. What happened next would only solidify his fear of what was coming next. Chills were sent down his spine as she spoke. Quash was starting to think he should've listened to his instincts when he had the chance. The red flags were crimson now, but it was far too late to escape.
Quash didn't even have time to react. He felt a strong grip on his head, and he was FLUNG towards Jorey. Whether or not he managed to hit him, his body would hit the ground with a loud "BOOM" the force formed a crater of sand around his body. After laying there for a moment to recover, he managed to get on his hands and knees. Feeling sand in his throat and his mouth, he looked down to the ground to cough as his body immediately rejected it and tried to get it out of his system.
Hearing Liari speak again, he looked up to spot her already on the ground gathering energy into her fingertip. She was already preparing for her next attack! Finally acknowledging Jorey, Quash could think of one thing to say:
"MOV-"
He didn't even have time to say that. He felt a sudden warmness on the right cheek that began to trickle down the side of his face. Quash raised his hand to touch it and immediately felt a liquid substance. Bringing his hand down and looking at it, he realized it was blood. He looked back to Liari, realizing that the glowing energy he saw before was gone. Had she... had she already fired her attack? Quash was overcome with frustration, confusion, and, while he didn't know her for very long, a hint of betrayal. The two saiyans were now faced with unfathomable power, and he wasn't quite sure what to do. How was he, how was ANYONE, supposed to stand up against something like that?
He worked his way up to his feet, clenching his fists as he stared her down. Quash didn't have the slightest idea of what kind of evil had taken over her, but he had to put that on the back burner for now. It was fight or flight and, despite what his instincts were beating into his head, he was choosing to fight. For a saiyan, that was the only option he would ever allow himself to pick.
Quash looked over to wherever Jorey might be and gave him a look that simply said, "get ready".
Fixing his gaze back onto the Majin, he got into his fighting stance.
It looked like he was going to have that rematch a lot sooner than he thought.

You ever have so many things go through your mind at once that you can't really process what's happening in real life? Ever have those moments where nothing really feels real just because of the insane amount of brain fucking you just went through? That is what Jorey is feeling at this current moment, as the insanely, never-before-seen power level is now hurdling towards them at never-before-seen speeds. Okay, so, this is where we die, I guess.
The power level stopped immediately in front of Jorey and Quash. As soon as Jorey laid his eyes on it, he was filled with confusion and fear all over again. His body wasn't even able to produce any sweat, it was all practically exhausted from his glands. Despite being on guard and squaring up a little bit in reaction to this creature showing up, he knew that there would be no point in doing so. With how fast she appeared to move, there was no doubt she could probably take him down in less than half a second, without him being able to even react to it. As it turns out, this creature, named Liari, and Quash knew each other. Oh, just my luck. If that's the case, Quash, please be a doll and have tone down the intimidating a bit.
Jorey couldn't help but to size himself up with her, both in power and in general. She was a giant, blue, menacing piece of bubblegum. The Saiyan bet that if he poked her skin, some ripples would form on it. He somehow was able to distract himself from what felt like impending doom by thinking about a bunch of different anatomical questions to ask her. I wonder how soft her skin is. Wait, does she even have any organs? What even is she? ...You think she tastes like bubblegum?
Unfortunately, negotiations and conversations weren't going well when Jorey suddenly blinked and felt her energy behind him. His eyes widened in reaction to her speed, and he froze up, not even bothering to try and look back at her. It was too quick, it was too sudden, it was too badass. So edgy, it spoke out to the edgy Saiyan on so many different levels. It made it all the more cool to Jorey when he realized she didn't even bother to look at them; she had her back facing them, as well. Holy shit, that's badass.
Liari asked a simple question, about who would miss them if they were to suddenly disappear. Too traumatized to stop himself, Jorey actually started to casually answer the question. "Eh, no one, most likely. I don't have a family any– Oh, crapbaskets."
As quickly as he could, Jorey put his arms up to guard, knowing he wouldn't be able to dodge. Quash's body was casually flung straight at Jorey, and it collided head on, sending both Saiyans to the sand below. Jorey tumbled a little more, in immense amount of pain already. He landed on his side, then pushed himself up as quickly as he could, despite the pain, looking straight down to the ground in astonishment. In a split second, his whole life flashed before his eyes, and he saw the face of an individual he didn't want to remember. "Mother, is that you?"
Jorey sensed Liari's power level get on the same ground as them, and he looked up to see her charging a technique. Immediately, the Saiyan channeled Ki throughout his entire body, attempting to use Rapid Movement to dodge the technique. However, he was a little too late in pulling it off, and he felt the attack cut right through his cheek. He felt the warm substance that flows through his body, giving him life, pouring slowly out of the wound he just received. Wincing, the Saiyan looked down at his cheek, trying to see how deep it was, and then looked back up at Liari. He knows Quash just tried to warn him to dodge the attack, and that just pissed him off even more. He looked towards Quash and reacted to his warning. "Dumbass, now's not the time to be worried about each other! We're both already way too weak to deal with her, as it is. You just worry about your ass, and I'll worry about mine."
There was something strange about the way Liari talked about Saiyans. She mentioned how proud they were, how they were itching for any single form of physical combat they could engage in, even if it meant it cost their life. He couldn't disagree with those statements at all, these situations definitely seemed like things Saiyans would do. Hell, if it meant Jorey could match up a lot better with Liari, he wouldn't have any problems with fighting her, even if it meant death awaited him. It's either he dies trying, or he gets a lot stronger out of the fight. However, it seemed like this monstrosity knew Saiyans. She spoke very familiar of them, and Jorey knew damn well she wasn't any sort of Saiyan. The wary lone wolf slowly got up to his feet, ready to face this menace once more. If Liari wanted to kill them, Jorey knew very well she could've done it already. At this point, it was a matter of them surviving her toying with them. Jorey's pride was shot, by this point, but he wasn't going to just let himself die. He still had other things he wanted to live for, one of them being tied around his wrist. He got back into a battle stance as Liari uttered one more statement, to which Jorey had to respond to. "Uh, you're making a lotta assumptions right now. If anything, I think I hate Quash for the situation he just put us in."
None of this talk was going to change the situation they were in. At the end of the day, it wasn't a life or death situation they were in. This quite literally felt like a die painfully or a die quickly situation. This wasn't something Jorey was pleased to be stuck in. If he was somehow able to survive all this, there wouldn't be a single doubt in his mind that the rest of his days would be spent training. He didn't care about making a living, now. He didn't care about his mercenary job, or anything else. If he wasn't getting more powerful to match this speed, this strength, this raw power, then he was doing something wrong. He won't stop catching up until he's fully caught up and surpassed it, or until Liari was no longer a threat to potentially the whole universe. There was no point in trying to make a living and being carefree when the whole world could just end in a split second, and Jorey was of course on it. He glanced over to Quash, who gave him some sort of "get ready" look, and he became even more annoyed. The Saiyan rolled his eyes and groaned, upset he had to deal with this situation. "Don't you gimme that look. We're probably already as good as dead."

Liari couldn't help but outright LAUGH at these two monkeys as they COWARD (effectively) before her, one chittering like the creature he resembled, the other sweating his body dry! While they stood their ground, not-a-one appeared to actually BE happy to stand before her, to face a power so much greater than their own. Their saiyan blood, Liari assumed, must have run as thin as water...
...It was with that realization the majin's smile disappeared, replaced with a face of disgust and disappointment, her sanguine eyes glaring wrathfully in their blackened sockets!
"HA! This is PATHETIC." The majin snorted, slowly walking towards the two saiyans. "So, this is how you represent your race? By trembling in your BOOTS?" The majin raised her fist, her angular saiyan-like features truly coming out with her sharp-toothed snarl! "Where is that 'pride' you saiyans like to brag about? Where is your fighting spirit!? Why aren't you attacking me!?" Liari's aura SURGED around her with each question, its sheer intensity SHREDDING the earth around her feet by the third! "HERE I AM! THE BIGGEST POWER YOU WILL EVER KNOW! I. AM. WAITING!"
...But they would do nothing, Quash would only look to his friend, Jorey continuing to WHINE about how dead they were! ...Revolting. She wasn't even a sayain and she felt how utterly REPULSED the two monkeys inside her were. Callion was just disappointed with them, that these two would stand here, simpering like BABIES when there was a threat that needed stopping! IF NOT JUST FOR THEIR OWN SAKE, THEN FOR THE PLANET ITSELF!
...Kombu was... well... "outraged" was an understatement. WHAT a FARCE! What, did Liari have to bomb ANOTHER city for these dolts to get their asses in gear? Did she actually have to THROTTLE one of them before the other did something!? Liari might have not known the deep intricacies of saiyan society, but she DID know her blood BOILED for a challenge, HUNGERED FOR IT! Or.... at least a little bit of spunk! THESE TWO SHOULD BE EATING THIS STUFF UP!
...God, this cowardice made her want to SCREAM!
"I can't believe I ever thought you were cool, Quash." Liari hissed, raising a clenched fist in his direction. "If I had known you would just stand there like a statue when I surpassed you, fear and terror in your eyes, I.... BAH!" The majin SWUNG her fist to the side, the shockwave of the motion sending forth a BLAST of SHEER AIR AND FORCE RENDING FLAT THE AREA BESIDE THEM ALL TO NOTHING BUT A barren rock! "...I would have flattened you. JUST like that! And you..."
Liari's hateful gaze turned back to Jorey.
"You're pathetic. You joke and chitter like a frightened animal. You blame Quash for you following him and try to save only yourself. If there's one thing I hate more than HIM right now, it's YOU." SUDDENLY Liari would appear before Jorey, her arm SHOOTING UP to grab him by the throat and RAISE him over her head, her fingers DIGGING into his neck.
"...I'll kill YOU first."

Post by Quash on Jul 13, 2022 13:24:58 GMT -5
Quash was admittedly a little thrown off by Jorey's response. He thought they were supposed to be a team, but his "friend" wanted nothing to do with any of this. In fact, Quash found that he was blamed for them being in this situation. He felt a little betrayed, but he couldn't be too pressed about it. There was a legitimate point made, though who was to say that Liari wouldn't have followed them if they tried to leave? Their ship probably wouldn't have been fast enough to lose her. Hell, there might not even have been a ship anymore if she had gotten to it.
Quash decided to keep his thoughts to himself instead of responding to Jorey's comments, figuring he'd talk to him about the whole thing later. Right now, they had to address the elephant in the room. Liari had gone on about how cowardly their behavior was, saying that they were sorry excuses for saiyans. The captain was almost impressed, to be honest. The last time he saw her she didn't even know what a mom was, and now here she was preaching about saiyan pride. Who taught her about all of that? More importantly, how did she even comprehend that?
His nerves spiked as she flattened the area next to her in anger. She expressed her disappointment in him, hoping that'd be happy to see her this strong! As much as Quash wanted to defend himself against her words, he found that... he couldn't. Recently, he'd been feeling uncertain in his own power. Between Callion, Athren, Liari, and now THIS Liari, he had been shown that there was an entire region of power and abilities that he had never been exposed to until now. It was a lot to take in and, while he knew that he should be happy, he already had doubts over where he was in the pecking order. His race had fallen very far behind that they were at almost half the strength they used to be, but he had convinced himself that he was the exception.
It turned out that he wasn't.
Part of him had always known. He had been suppressing it this entire time. Ever since coming to Earth, however, he has no longer been able to. When he met Ayu, he had no choice but finally admit to himself that he didn't really know how to handle it. Ayu was able to give him advice in a way... But to be honest he didn't exactly take her too seriously given how naive she came off. What was it she said? You can't become better without changing? What kind of change would he have to make to be able to stop a living cheat code with boundless energy?
There was no more time for thinking about his own issues. Liari was already on the move! He didn't know whether to be a little pleased that she defended Quash from the blame Jorey tried to place on him, or be more concerned that she was gunning for him! He decided to take the more mature route (for now) and pick the latter, leaping into action! His right was enveloped in yellow ki before elongating and hardening into the shape of a blade. His signature Savoy Sword would appear!
He'd raise it into the air before bringing it down on the arm the majin was using to grab Jorey. There was reluctance in his movement, his body trying to fight through the fear. He knew being this close up to an opponent having this much power was a recipe for disaster, but there was no other option. If either he or Jorey died, the other would surely be finished. The only way they were going to even have a chance to get out of this was if they worked together.
"Let's watch each other's backs instead!" Quash replied, taking another swipe to the side of his sword to perhaps create some distance between Liari and them. He had fought her before, he knew how versatile and crafty she could be. Regeneration, elasticity, chopped-limb controlling, she could even copy moves! As far as he knew, Jorey hadn't had the same experience. While her power has gotten a lot stronger, with new abilities in store no doubt, Quash's knowledge was their best chance at survival.
The last time they fought, Quash remembered his plan was to use her own biology to her advantage. He never had a chance to test it out, but he figured he had to now. There were a few problems, though. It was easy to throw her off her game before, but she was much different now. Her attacks were much sharper and had a lot more precision. In fact, the only time Quash had seen those moves before was when Callion had taught him how to use the Three-Section-Staff. Considering she was now wearing his gi, that did make sense. What didn't make sense is why Callion would bother training someone like that? He was a good guy when he met him. He had to know that she was up to no good, right?
In addition to having learned many new skills, she looked and acted much older than she used to, which meant he probably wouldn't get away with "yo, mama" jokes again. He had to find another way to bait her somehow. She seemed pretty sensitive about her origins, maybe they could use that? He wasn't sure how he could craft that into a clever insult just yet, but right now this was the plan he had.
As things were right now, there was no way for him to tell Jorey the plan without her knowledge without also needlessly increasing the risk of getting killed. The best thing he could do was try and get him to follow his lead and help him out whenever he was able. As for Quash's own confidence, well, he'd have to figure out how to get it into gear. One slip-up could mean certain death in this mind, there was no room for those with only half of their heads in the game.

Post by Jorey on Jul 13, 2022 16:33:45 GMT -5
Confusion would quickly settle in on Jorey. He was sure Quash felt the same way, but he wasn't too concerned about that. Where did this tall piece of bubblegum get off trying to say all these things about Saiyans? What would she know about being a Saiyan and their pride? Truth be told, pride wasn't necessarily a thing Jorey held onto too much. Yes, he was a Saiyan, so he had his roots in his pride. It was a given, but he wasn't going to be arrogant and willingly send himself into suicide missions due to his senseless pride. He knew where to think with logic and with reason, and he knew where he could depend on his pride for situations. While it's true that he could use a little more Saiyan pride in his life, he wasn't really planning on doing that anytime soon. So, hearing Liari preach about Saiyan pride didn't piss him off, or make him want to be a better Saiyan. It annoyed him. To him, this was an alien creature, who wanted to group every single Saiyan into the same pod. She sounded like every other die-hard Saiyan hellbent on soaring to glory inside the capital, or at least, that's what Jorey felt like the Saiyans on Vegeta would be like. What do they expect of him? His family was killed at a young age, and Jorey had to live in a world with no family, with no Saiyan pride, for all his years, until now. Even despite all this, they expect him to adopt his Saiyan pride with no more than a second thought? It was annoying, indeed. To Jorey, it didn't matter that he was fighting the largest power level on the planet. Yes, he meant the largest power level on the planet. If anything else existed on this planet stronger than Liari, he might as well start worshiping it. It would have to be some sort of god or demon, at that point. The reason why Jorey wasn't jumping at the chance to fight Liari was simple: why would he do that when he knows he most likely can't even put a dent in her. He'll fight to his last breath if he has to, but like mentioned before, he's not going to send himself on a suicide mission. The shockwave sent from Liari's fist was impressive. All she did was swipe her arm, and she was able to send air particles outwards in a lethal looking way. The lone wolf wondered where the extent of her power would take her at this point. Of course, the words she had for Quash wouldn't stop her from looking straight to Jorey. He'd expect this to happen, and upon her looking at him, his facial expression tightened up, no longer gritting his teeth. He raised an eyebrow and glared back at the tall blue creature. Her words were a means to criticize Jorey's whole character, which didn't sit well with the Saiyan. Oh? What are you, my counselor? Who are you to tell me how to be a better person?
Jorey's Ki flared up immediately, anger flowing through his veins almost as much as being a Saiyan did. His face tensed up even more, the more annoyed he got. "Great, go on and hate me. Like I give a shit." Fuck it.
Jorey felt something snap inside of him, metaphorically of course. Not physically. At least, not yet. He wasn't pleased about the situation they were in, but he was even less pleased about being preached to by someone who doesn't know the first thing about him. That's when he suddenly felt Liari's energy dangerously close to him, and he was being lifted into the air. So, this is where he was going to die, huh? Jorey instinctively grabbed onto her hand with one hand, as if to try and pry it away from his own neck. Of course, that wouldn't work too well, with her being too ridiculously more powerful than him. It'd be like prying open a locked door with a toothpick. The pain was really settling in, but something inside of Jorey didn't want to give up. Not much for his pride, but for some sort of thrill he was feeling. He choked a bit, but soon, he was glaring right at Liari, with a smile on his face. With his free hand, he unloaded multiple Halo Busters straight at her face, back to back to back, without caring how fatigued he got. If Quash's attack was successful in cutting off Liari's arm, Jorey would fall to the ground, coughing some more. He would look up, leap into the air while spinning, and then kick Liari in the chest with all his might, pushing himself back away from her. If he was able to stun Liari in some way, or get her to let go of him due to his Halo Busters, he would do the same mentioned above, just from the height she held him at. Panting away from Liari, the lone wolf would grab onto his neck, massaging it a bit. Of course, he had a clever, edgy quip for this, as well. "Didn't think I'd be testing if I had a choking kink so soon. I gotta say, it seems very overhyped."
Quash wanted to suggest that they watch each other's backs, which only seemed to aggravate Jorey even more. He didn't want to take orders from Quash, not because he legitimately detested the Saiyan, but because he saw no point in them working together if this creature really was this strong against them. She could kill them whenever she wanted. If she didn't want to prove that in the first place, why would she give them the chance to cower in fear in front of her, right after shooting them with Ki blasts that weren't meant to kill them? What kind of game was this thing trying to play? Was she toying with them, training them, or trying to enjoy herself while she slowly killed them? Jorey didn't know what the hell it was, and by this point in time, he wanted nothing more than to go back into the ship and start training again. The power Liari demonstrated was unfathomable. It seemed impossible that someone could reach these heights. At the same time, there was excitement coursing through Jorey's veins. He remembered what he told Athren when they first met, about if he found someone so much stronger than himself, it proves as a sign that he could also reach those heights. The Saiyan's eyes widened, and an amused smirk grew on his face. "Fine, if you both wanna play this kinda game, then screw it! I'm down for it. Let's fuckin' get beaten bloody!"
With his Ki flaring up even more, blood trickling from his cheek, and the subtle feeling of death creeping on him, Jorey somehow felt more alive than he ever did. He laughed and held out one of his arms, channeling Ki into it, getting ready to fire a Shatter Beam. "This pain, it'll serve to make me stronger. And, if I do end up dying in the end, then fuck it! I'll get to meet my uncle a lot sooner in hell."
Quickly, the lone wolf directed his attention to his partner in this fight. "Quash! If you're gonna be that quick to try and free me from death, then be quick in attacking her, too. Let's just get this over with, as soon as possible."
Right then, he shot a Shatter Beam at Liari, letting it travel up to just before it would make contact with her. Then, he'd let the beam break into multiple pieces, in order to cover her whole body in multiple Ki blasts. Whether or not the attack hit its target, Jorey would use Rapid Movement to place himself a short distance away to Liari's left, where he would try and fire off another Halo Buster at her from there. In all honesty, Liari was SERIOUSLY considering tightening her grip, just enough so that Jorey's neck snapped within it. All these excuses... all this complaining... This man sounded more like a human being made to work an extra shift than a sayain warrior in his element! If this was what one of the strongest warriors had to say about being faced with THE strongest warrior... then he might as well hang up his stupid hair and monkey-tail and go home... Or in this case, GO TO HEL-
ZZZPT!
Liari blinked as she saw her hand suddenly detach from her wrist, the glow of a yellow ki-blade resting just beneath! Her hand still hovered in the hair, unmoved as if such a wound hadn't come to pass... but at the very least, she opened her fingers and allowed Jorey his freedom! Liari's sanguine eyes flicked over to Quash, still glowing FIERCELY, but perhaps a twinge of hope touched upon her expression!
"...And what was THAT supposed to be?" She questioned, the two saiyans quickly retreating! As if to show how irrelevant such a technique as, the majin would simply extend her arm a little further, reattaching her hand instantly! A futile... but commendable effort. Could it be that they were actually going to FIGHT now? Jorey seemed to be, LUNGING at the majin for a few quick kicks which, to the saiyan... must have HURT as they didn't move her an inch! In fact, she barely seemed to notice their impact as she merely observed his movements! There was... some technique to them, yes, but still FAR too WEAK to be worth the energy put into them. Jorey was still cracking his jokes, though it seemed to be more out of arrogance than fear, Quash encouraging they stick together because... you know... numbers were really all they had right now.
"FINALLY. I can't believe it took you two this much to want to fight." Liari huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. ...Now the tables had turned. Now JOREY was taking charge, showing more bravery while Quash appeared anxious and unwilling in the background. Perhaps the sayain in Jorey was stronger than that in the good Captain, only buried under a mountain of wise-cracking cowardice. What an unfortunate handicap that it took the threat of death... or worse to get him in gear, however. With heroes like these, the world may never survive a true invasion. Jorey would level his hand out towards the Majin, remarking how Quash better get his attacks ready too if they were going to survive this!
"...'Watching each other's backs...'" Liari repeated slowly, slowly dropping into a sitting position on the ground, lightly leaning back on her hands! "...With such pitiful coordination...?"
Well, Jorey didn't seem interested in such a question, firing off a beam at the majin that would suddenly split into MANY aiming to pepper Liari with impacts!
"How predictable."
SUDDENLY, TWO HANDS WOULD SHOOT UP FROM BELOW QUASH, AIMING TO WRAP AROUND HIM LIKE A PAIR OF SNAKES AND DRAG HIM THROUGH THE EARTH FROM WHICH THEY HAD SHOT! If either saiyan looked closely, they would notice the majin's arms pushed down into the earth where before they were used as supports... A DECEPTION!
If Quash was unable to react in time, Liari would PULL HIM OUT of the ground right in front of Jorey's blasts, letting the saiyan captain take the full brunt of the dozens of impacts!
"...Try again. This time, consider everything I am doing before acting." The majin would utter, her eyes tracking Jorey's rapid movement to her left! If Quash had taken those impacts, Liari would HURL him back at Jorey as if he were a throwing-spear, aiming to STRIKE HIM with his friend before he could fire his Halo-Buster! "...And coordinate with your teammates if you depend on them."

Post by Quash on Jul 14, 2022 12:16:22 GMT -5
Quash was a little annoyed at Jorey's attitude towards the whole situation. It was just one thing after another. Sure, he was one who had flown them here, but I mean come on. Who wouldn't have wanted to check out who had all of this power? Plus, with how weird that energy was, he needed to get to the bottom of what was going on. He still hadn't, but it's not like he could just ask... right? I mean, it might be worth a shot. Maybe it'd be better to do so when he wasn't facing imminent death though. He'd have to wait until the fight calmed down.
Quash, ignoring Liari's comments about how weak his attack was, was kind of surprised that his attempt to free Jorey was successful. He knew that she could've easily stopped him from doing so, which was oddly kind of positive. The majin didn't seem to be fighting seriously, which was definitely a plus for them. They could use that to their advantage. He was a little agitated that Jorey had already wasted so much ki trying to hurt her. Quash knew that it wasn't going to work and, surprise, surprise, it didn't.
Quash backed up as Jorey did and let his Savoy Sword dissolve, now standing next to him. Miraculously, it looked like the latter did a complete 180 and was ready to fight to his heart's content. The Captain rolled his eyes when he was told that he had to be "quick to attack" as well. Sure thing, not like he just saved his life or anything.
"A "thank you" would've been nice." Quash replied, letting his own aura flare up as he was preparing himself to engage once again. It looked like Liari noticed Jorey's fighting spirit as well, as she seemed pleased that at least one of them had finally grown a backbone. Jorey launched yet another attack, despite it not working at all before! She even SAT DOWN as he did it! How disrespectful can you even get after that point?! Well, Quash didn't give him too much of a hard time. After all, at least his partner was actually making an attempt. He was standing there with his thumb of his ass shaking in his boots still! Where was his Saiyan Pride? Was he really scared of death now?
All of this thinking had allowed him to let his guard down, which was something that he should've known to NEVER do against someone like Liari. Quash felt a tight grip around both of his ankles. He looked down and his eyes widened in horror at what he saw. They were her hands, each one having grabbed ahold of him. Somehow, he knew what was coming next, and couldn't help but let out a disheartened sigh as he felt a very familiar feeling of humiliation from when he had to deal with her shenanigans the first time.
Well... shit.
The ground collapsed from under him as he was forcefully pulled underground. Pounds of dirt and rocks struck him in the face as he was tunneling through the ground. He should've seen something like this coming! Maybe he would've if he could manage to get his head out of his ass and actually deal with the threat in from him! He was playing a coward's game, using coming up with a plan to deal with her as an excuse to not have to fight! Wasn't he supposed to show an example as a higher rank and restore the honor of the Saiyan race? So much for that, because he was doing the exact OPPOSITE right now.
Quash finally pulled out from underground with sand, dirt, and whatever else in his eyes. Blinded by this, he had to rely on his Ki Sense to try to get a sense of position. Liari was obviously right on top of him, but now he was in front of Jorey. Wait, there's something else headed towards him. Oh no, they were ki blasts! Quash didn't even have an opportunity to respond to the incoming attack, he was struck by Jorey's energy attacks! He grunted in pain as chunks of armor and clothing flew off of him as a result the ki exploded as they hit their unintended target.
He could sense Jorey's energy suddenly move the side, which was conveniently where he was thrown. What was with Liari and throwing him into stuff? What did he do? Was this about the "yo mama" jokes? He thought she didn't understand what he was saying! Maybe with her seemingly increased intelligence, she had finally understood what he was trying to say and now she had this lust for vengeance! If that was the case, was it too late to apologize?
Probably.
Quash, presumably flung into Jorey, hit the ground again. His body rolled to a stop, allowing him to finally wipe away all of the junk from his eyes. He rearranged himself into a sitting position of his own, bringing his hands up and furiously trying to clean them up where he could at least see a little bit. After a moment, he made an attempt to open them...and he succeeded! Thank goodness. Now, where was he... Right! Dealing with a crazed lunatic! He got up onto his feet with an annoyed look on his face. Ah yes, dealing with an unfathomable amount of energy wasn't enough, he had to deal with an annoying teammate as well.
With all of this complaining, he figured it was best to finally start putting in some work of his own. He moved next to Jorey, trying to convince him to at least try to see reason.
"Listen, I get it. You don't like me for doing this, you don't feel like being here, everything sucks, whatever. I get it. But she's not an average fighter, obviously. We can't just rush in and "get this over with". We need to work together whether you like it or not. I've dealt with her before, just back me up with those nifty ki attacks you got there so that I can close in on her. I don't know what I'm gonna do when I get over there, but that's the best plan we've got right now. Okay?"
Quash looked toward the Majin again. He winched in pain as he a took step forward, still feeling the effects of Jorey's attack. It was time to put his big boy pants on. His fear was still present, but he knew that if he was going to overcome something like this, then the only way forward was to charge in head-on! Maybe if he did it this way, he'd be able to find his Saiyan Pride again.
"Alright, Liari. If it's a fight you want, then it's a fight you'll get."
The dirt and sand near him began to levitate. His aura came to life yet again as Quash began to power up!
"HAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Suddenly, Quash burst forward, flying directly at Liari at full speed. He'd fly in a zig-zag pattern as he approached her, trying to make himself a target that was harder to hit. Any piercing attacks were useless and slicing off any limbs was going to cause more trouble than it was worth. He had to stick to blunt attacks, but ones with more power! So instead of a punch or kick, what about throwing his ENTIRE BODY AT HER?! He'd attempt to wrap his arms around her as he made an effort to spear her into the ground!

The Saiyans' backs being against the wall wasn't the most ideal situation. To both of them, it was very obvious how strong Liari was, and how quickly she could kill them. Cutting off Liari's arm was barely doing anything to her, and the kicks Jorey sent into her chest did nothing to her. It only served to push the Saiyan off of her. It was like kicking a brick wall to destroy it, only to have yourself get sent flying the other direction. What in the hell is this thing made of!?
It was infuriating, the situation they were in. A being so much more powerful than them, playing with them and making light of them, trying to lecture them as if she wanted them to be better people. Nothing else more so spelled out annoying to Jorey; he wasn't sure about how Quash felt about this, but he could only imagine he felt similar. However, one thing seemed to stand out for Jorey. Sure, he was pretty pissed that she had the nerve to remark about it taking this much for them to finally want to fight. Who wouldn't be pissed off at that? With such a powerhouse they were facing, it wouldn't be much of a fight. Regardless, that stood out to Jorey, and something became apparent to him. Liari had no plans to kill them, just yet. She had an ulterior motive, right now. Maybe it was to torture them and break them? Maybe it was to test her strength on them? Maybe it was just to kill time in her boring day? Either one of these possibilities infuriated the Saiyan even more, but one thing was still for certain: she wasn't trying to kill them. At least, just yet. Jorey could only wonder when she decided it wasn't worth it to keep them alive. A part of Jorey kind of wished she was there to kill them. It was a warrior's dream to die in battle, and just because he's done shady stuff in the past didn't make Jorey any less of a warrior. He wanted to become stronger, to enjoy the fight, to relish the challenges put in front of him and take them down, head on. He also wanted to live, admittedly, but to die in the heat of battle was nothing short of badass. In the end, what was happening right now was what they should worry about. As pissed as he is about not being worth it to kill, right now, Jorey wouldn't back down from this fight. If this meant he could get so much stronger in the long run, then so be it. It's another ceiling to break down in his journey, and that concept excited him even more than anything else. Jorey would blatantly ignore Quash's plea for a "thank you." If anything, the lone wolf figured with the way he'd been talking to Quash, a "thank you" would be a long time coming. He still continued his attack, sending out a Shatter Beam towards Liari. It was then he realized an energy signature coming from the ground. He looked in Quash's direction and watched as two blue hands came out of the ground and grabbed onto said Saiyan, dragging him into the ground. Jorey followed his signature through the ground and watched as he popped back up in front of Liari, taking every single blast that he had sent out to the freak of nature. All of this happened in the span of a very short second, but for some reason, Jorey saw it all happen in slow motion. It felt like a minute had passed. He gritted his teeth in response, frustrated at her sheer speed. Let's see if I can match that speed.
Unfortunately, he could not. He emerged from his Rapid Movement to Liari's left, and started charging his Halo Buster, ready to fire at a moment's notice right to his opponent. However, he soon realized Quash was being flung right at him. Oh, okay. So, I can't match that speed at all. Good to know.
The Saiyan immediately stopped charging his Halo Buster, dispersing the Ki in a heartbeat. He braced himself, gritted his teeth, and spread out his arms, attempting to catch Quash. He let out a battlecry, and let Quash's body hit him, attempting to wrap his arms around him and stop him in his tracks. Of course, he wasn't able to keep up with the speed the Saiyan was thrown at, and he ended up getting sent backwards and rolling to a halt, skidding on his back. Ah, fuck. It doesn't feel any better the second time.
The Saiyan got back on his feet, glaring right at Liari. What was she getting at this time? What was her goal in all of this? She wants them to now work as a team to defeat her? Hell, I thought the whole point of this was to toy with us or test out your power! The hell do you mean, "try again?"
There was something about what she was saying that made Jorey lost in thought for a bit. Everything Liari said rang through Jorey's brain like a ceaseless bell toll. It buzzed around, putting different ideas and speculations into the beehive that was his mind. This was probably the most Jorey's brain had worked in a tactical sense for a long time. "Consider what you're doing?" The hell are you doing? Just standing there, menacingly! How am I supposed to consider what you're doing? Unless...is she not just standing there to intimidate us, or 'cuz she's bored? Is she doing something else? I can't see any damn openings, so what's the point in considering what you're doing?
The Saiyan felt like he was getting nowhere. He came to one conclusion: either she was trying to get them to coordinate and think of her actions before they react, or she was trying to get them to think about her goal in all of this. Either way, Jorey couldn't quite put his finger on what she's getting it. Jorey's train of thought was interrupted by Quash. He'd let him talk, hear him out a bit before even responding. Quash was speaking nothing but facts in his second sentence, and Jorey nodded at every single fact he mentioned. He really didn't want to hear anything else Quash had to say. If it was really up to Jorey, he'd love to beat Liari to dust with his bare hands, not having to rely on any outside help. That was what his pride wanted, but obviously, that was impossible. He abandoned that reality as soon as he realized what reality he was truly in, and that happened when he first sensed Liari's power. The whole coordination part would take a little more convincing, but with what the blue freak of nature was saying, he really didn't mind it. After all, there might be something Liari is trying to get at from having them work together. He doesn't know what it is, and for all he knew, it could just be the cue for her to finally kill them. However, it was worth a shot, just to find out what it was. Jorey responded by smiling, a cunning and excited one, and responded to Quash in a joking way. "Yeah, sure, whatever. Just try not get in the way of my attacks like you did last time."
The Saiyan chuckled at his own comment, then took a deep breath and balled his fists up. With Quash standing next to him, Jorey started letting his power surge through himself, the dirt and sand being kicked up even higher with his additional power up. He roared as his Ki, a light red-violet color, flared up and surged around him. "HYAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Quash immediately sprang to action. This wasn't the most ideal situation for Jorey, but he felt that he could make it work. If Quash was going to get up close and personal, Jorey would be more than fine with doing the same, but from an opposite angle. Jorey soon found out that his partner's motive was not to hit Liari with some attacks, but to charge into her completely. Was he planning on tackling her? Maybe a German Suplex, or something? The lone wolf didn't think either of those would really work, but whatever, at this point. Jorey touched down some distance behind Liari, shooting some basic Ki blasts straight at her from behind, before Quash made it to their opponent. From there, he would charge straight at her, wary of her every movement. If he saw her reacting in some way he could react to, he would take necessary measures to dodge or block. Jorey knew this woman had a tendency to literally throw them around like rag dolls. He wasn't going to let her throw Quash into him again. If there was an opening from Quash's attack, Jorey would follow up with two Ki blasts in his hands, sliding in-between Liari's legs, attempting to shoot through them and have her fall on her back. Quash went TUMBLING into his partner, the majin smirking at the sight of the two saiyans barreling end-over-end! Well... at least her aim was on point, even though she wasn't really trying all that hard. Quash and Jorey, seemingly, would take this time to get their priorities and plans in order, it seemed, the two hanging just out of earshot as they discussed... whatever they were discussing.
"Could it be they're listening to me?" Liari mused, slowly rising to her feet, her stance still half-hunched over and casual. "Perhaps I should weaken myself just a bit... give them a chance." Slowly, her OVERWHELMING PRESENCE would begin to recede fromt the saiyans' senses, retracting to barely over double their collective strength! At first, she had thought this was a good idea! After all, the last thing she wanted was to break their spirit! At that point, they would become little more than immobile throw-pillows to kick around! At least THIS WAY they could actually fight back and MAYBE even hurt her!
...then she realized just how WEAK SHE WAS NOW! IT WAS LIKE SHE COULD FEEL GRAVITY PULLING HER DOWN AGAIN! Narrowing her eyes and frowning in displeasure, Liari would throw a QUICK punch in front of herself to gauge her speed and power... AND GOD DID IT FEEL LIKE SHE WAS PUNCHING THROUGH MOLASSUS!
"...Was I EVER this weak before...?" Liari questioned, her eyes tracking her fist as she brought it up to her face! "...How did I ever survive...?"
Quash would declare his intentions to BRING THE FIGHT FOR REAL THIS TIME, SHOUTING over to her as she turned her head in his direction again!
"I don't suppose you're holding back any special power, Quash?" Liari asked back, staring down the saiyan intensely! "...Because that might just get you out of this mess."
...But no. He simply CHARGED HER DOWN! Even at this level, where Quash was MUCH FASTER to Liari than he had been before, it was a simple enough matter for the majin to CROUCH down so that they were about level and that her center-of-gravity was low, the saiyan captain CHARGING into her with the attempt to spear her torso, the majin's ARMS shooting out instead so her palms could CATCH Quash's shoulders, STOPPING this bull-charge DEAD! At the moment of impact, Liari's feet GROUND back in the dirt, her tentacles absently BATTING away Jorey's blasts at her back one by one!
"What are you... supposed to be...? The distraction!?" Liari grimaced, a hand SHOOTING UP TO GRAB Quash by his hair before her other SHOT forward, aiming to CHECK him in his stomach! "Please. An attack from two sides... is a BASIC flanking strateg- huh?" Liari looked down to see the weaker sayain SLIPPING between her legs, two blasts aimed right at her face! Her eyes shot WIDE, her lips curling back in a genuinely surprised snarl, Liari raising her boot to STOMP him into the ground... but Jorey, at her current level of power, had more than enough time to let his blasts loose! With the majin's hands occupied, her only recourse was to JERK her face back, ONE blast shooting WIDE, arching off into the big open sky. The other, though... it struck home!
"GAH!" Liari GROWLED as Jorey's blast struck her RIGHT in the eye, her hand shooting up to CUP her face as her foot shot out to kick both Quash and Jorey away! Liari, her face twitching from both the impact of the energy-sphere AND from anger, would pull her hand back, revealing that side of her face singed, her eye clenched shut... but not blown away! A basic ki-attack from such, even caught by surprise, couldn't wound Liari alone... It could HURT, CERTAINLY... but nothing that would call for immediate regeneration!
"Nnnnngh... Very good..." Liari mused, a smirk flashing across her lips! "...I suppose... coming down to YOUR level... is worth it in the end... if you can keep this up."

As Quash inched closer and closer to Liari, he couldn't help but notice her energy drop significantly! He didn't know exactly what that meant, but if it really was lowered then they would have a better chance at stopping her. Perfect! Either that or, she was trying to bait them. In which case, then that'd be FAR from perfect because that'd mean they would be running right into a trap. The best he could do in this kind of situation was proceed with caution and hope for the best. She was still stronger than both of them, so he figured that not much had really changed in their gameplan anyway, right?
Quash thought that Liari would've had a harder time trying to catch him, but it looked like he was wrong on that. His entire body felt like it had hit a brick wall as it came to an immediate halt when he slammed right into Liari's hands. The vibrations that ran through him as a result made him really weird. They were almost like chills. Well, so much for that. He thought. He wished that he had a cool neat power in store for her. Unfortunately, he couldn't do any fancy aura changes as he had seen from certain fighters. He really was never able to figure out what that whole thing was about, was he? Questions for later. For now, he was in deep doo doo... Or so he thought?
It looked Jorey was sticking to the plan, albeit in his own way. Quash was kind of expecting to stay where he was, but honestly as long as he was backing him up in some way, he figured it didn't matter all that much. Quash saw that he had made an attempt to attack the majin from behind. While admirable, that attack wasn't able to break through Liari's defenses. Nothing new there. They really had to start coming up with some galaxy brain plans soon, or else all hope would be lost! Speaking of defenses, Quash really had to start worrying about himself, because she was getting ready to attack him again! She had gotten ahold of his hair and had reeled back her arm for a heavy punch towards his stomach!
Quash placed his forearms over his stomach and grunted as her punch struck them. He may have prevented some real devastating damage, but he still felt the force move throughout his entire body. One thing was for sure though: He was right with his initial theory. She really had lowered her power. If she had attacked him as she had earlier, his arms would have been surely broken behind the momentum of that hit. It appeared she was being even less serious than she already was! They may still have their work cut out for them, but at least he could imagine a win now.
In any case, it looked like Jorey was already a step ahead of him when it came to galaxy brain plans because he performed a real clutch maneuver and actually managed to land a blow that did something! It was satisfying as all hell to see Liari feel some real, actual pain for once during this fight! He had to hand it to his partner, that was a pretty unique display of combat intelligence there. He really had to stop underestimating him and start trusting him more often.
Quash couldn't celebrate for too long, because Liari was immediately on the offense again! She had been pummeling him for a while so far, but not this time! He wouldn't waste the chance that Jorey gave them! The kick she fired at him would go completely through his body like it was nothing, almost like he was intangible! The image of him would fade away shortly afterward like he just vanished from existence.
It was his afterimage technique, perfect for this exact kind of situation! It was his first time using it in a real fight too. He had just begun to get a hold of the technique, so he could only create one image at the moment, but it was good enough for now! Liari was way too fast for it before, but with her now weakened power it was just barely doable! Quash had to act fast before she could figure out his new position and get a chance to attack him again! He could only hope that Jorey was alright.
Quash was now a considerable height over where he previously was, flying straight down towards Liari's head! He had his right fist cocked back and ready to slam right into her face! When he'd be almost right on top of her, he'd figure it would be a good time to reply to her latest taunt.
"CAN YOU JUST SHUT UP FOR ONE GODDAMN SECOND?!"
He'd throw his haymaker as he yelled at her, hoping his own attack would connect. His aura would flare up as he'd generate his own momentum downwards, doing his best to get his attack to force her into the ground. If he was successful, he'd try to climb on top of her and tie her arms together like he was tying his shoelaces. He didn't know how effective this was going to be, but it was better than nothing.
"Holy hell, you'd think a student of Callion would have more humility! What do you think he'd say if he saw you right now?"
Quash had still assumed that the gi she was wearing was something she was given from some kind of school she went to in order to learn from him, so he was still going off of that assumption. He hadn't known Callion outside the one day he spent with him learning how to use the staff, but he felt confident in saying that he wouldn't be too happy to see Liari attacking her former friend and acting like a general pain in the ass. Besides, being that this was a fellow saiyan they were talking about, it was only right that the Captain would help uphold the standard that his comrade had set!

Post by Jorey on Jul 16, 2022 15:57:35 GMT -5
As Jorey and Quash were charging their Ki to go back in for their onslaught, he noticed something that almost made him want to step back and see her next move. Suddenly, Liari's power dropped down immensely. It was nowhere close to where it was at before. In a split second, a million thoughts ran through Jorey's mind, questioning what just happened and for what purpose. Her power just dropped. Was she powered up this whole time in some sorta transformation, or is she doing this intentionally? No, there's no way that power was only temporary, right? I wouldn't be able to believe that. She has to be lowering her power intentionally. So then, why? Why was she doing that?
The questions kept on pouring into Jorey's mind, like if he should even keep on with the attack. He almost hesitated, but ultimately decided this was the best course of action. No, with her power this low, we'd be able to do some serious damage. I just hope she doesn't decide to shoot it back up to max right when we get there. Then, we're really fucked.
Quash's attacks didn't really do much to Liari, unfortunately, but it was perfect enough for Jorey to slip in relatively unnoticed and shoot some blasts at her face. Both blasts left Jorey's hand, but only one of them made contact with Liari's face. Still, that was more than enough for Jorey to be pleased. He didn't show it on his face, but the lone wolf saw this fight being more worthwhile, if they were to continue fighting with Liari at this strength. There was no time to celebrate at all, as Liari's boot was coming straight down to Jorey's face. She must've tried to use that as a way to stop the Saiyan in his tracks before he shot her, but he was still able to let out his Ki and land an attack. He did not want to get hit by that, however. He knew that would hurt far too much, considering he wasn't able to block at all. In the blink of an eye, Jorey shot two Ki beams above him, under Liari's legs and towards the way he came from, in order to give him another burst of momentum and dodge Liari's foot. After narrowly dodging her leg, the Saiyan planted his feet in the ground and did a full one-hundred eighty degree turn, sprinting right towards the tall blue creature again and jumping in the air. Jorey saw Liari reacting very quickly, and she sent her leg straight to the two Saiyans. Quash was hit, but also not hit at the same time? Wait, what the hell just happened to his body? Did he just die!?
There was no time to think about that. Quickly, Jorey put his arms to guard against Liari's kick. It was powerful, really powerful, but it was nowhere close to her strength beforehand. Jorey was knocked backwards, but he was able to quickly regain his balance and plant his feet and hands into the sand, eventually coming to a halt. Quash seemed to be already back on the offensive. This would be a good time to add on some more damage, if Quash was able to do some damage, that is. Flaring his Ki, Jorey would shoot to the sky, some distance above Quash and Liari. He stuck out his hand and harnessed Ki into it. This time, he'd make sure he'd hit his target, and not his teammate. The Saiyan shot out another Shatter Beam, traveling directly to Quash and Liari. At the same time, he yelled out to Quash. "Move outta the way, Quash!"
Then, the Shatter Beam would break off into multiple Ki blasts, raining down on top of Liari, assuming Quash would get out of the way. Jorey made sure he gave him ample enough time to evade this attack. If Liari was going to weaken herself to this much, it actually seemed possible for Jorey and Quash to leave this alive. If they both attacked her with their strongest attacks, it might be enough to make the blue creature want to back down. Hell, they might even be able to put enough force to do some serious damage to her. Although, after seeing Liari literally put her hand back on her arm after having it cut clean through, Jorey started wondering exactly how much she could heal of herself. Maybe if they hit her with everything they got, it still wouldn't be enough. It was scary to think about, something this strong. However, Jorey was also looking at a goal for this. If they were able to force her back to using her full power, or literally anything higher than what she's using now, he would deem that as a victory. Well, not an actual victory, but a win in the sense that they were able to push her to use greater strength. It would mean Jorey's making progress and getting stronger, even though these weights were really holding him back. He could only assume the same applied to Quash. He knew that wasn't Quash's full power. If it meant being able to survive this, Jorey wouldn't really have any problems taking off the weights, but his pride held him back. No, I want the challenge. I NEED the challenge.
Smoke seeped from Jorey's hand, after the Shatter Beam had long since left his palm. He was breathing heavily for a moment there, knowing he used a lot of Ki in the few minutes beforehand. Now would be a good time as ever, seeing as he was a considerable distance away from Liari. Nothing was considered a safe distance from her, as long as she was around and dangerous. Jorey took this opportunity to start charging his Ki, a reddish-purple aura engulfing his and flaring around him. While charging his Ki, he knew that there could be a moment where Liari went back not the offensive. If that meant he had to stop and react in a moment's notice, he'd be prepared to. He didn't want to get caught off guard while he was charging up again. It was only supposed to be enough to make up for the amount of Ki he wasted when he shot multiple Halo Busters point blank at Liari. Word Count: 1,055
