It was a bright and sunny morning when a saiyan pod crashed landed onto Earth, tearing through the dirt and vegetation on Papaya Island before coming to a halt. After a few moments of silence, the door opened up. Out stepped a 5' 11" male wearing what was clearly saiyan armor. It was Captain Quash, who said he was coming to Earth to "check in" with relations between this planet and his own, but in actuality was looking for other saiyans who might be on this planet. It wasn't uncommon for saiyans to make Earth their home if they had left Vegeta. In fact, sometimes they would even have children with the natives here.
In any case, it was on a recruiting mission. To join the Saiyan Army? Not quite. It was more like the Saiyan Rebellion Army. Things were heating up back home, and he took it upon himself to make sure their numbers were in order. After all, he thought he might have luck recruiting those who had long abandoned Planet Vegeta after falling out of love with it. He couldn't blame them. Right now, the people were a shadow of their former selves. In fact, the fact he was allowed to come to Earth for the sole purpose of a "friendship update" was already telling of the state of the situation.
After Quash took a minute to stretch his legs, he looked back at his pod and had a disappointed look on his face. Yeah, this was definitely a one-way trip. He was honestly surprised it didn't blow up when he entered the atmosphere. It would probably be a while before he was able to return to his home, but that was fine for him. After all, this mission wasn't exactly going to be short. He had a lot of ground to cover. He closed his eyes and used his Ki Sense, trying to see if he could detect anyone or anything in the area.

It was a bright and beautiful sunny morning on the Planet Earth, Athren of course had been up and at it for hours. His morning typically consist of a long workout session and a hardy meal. That was always how he had started his day. It had been when that was concluded that he would go about further preparations for himself. He had a lot to do in a very short period of time but he wanted to make sure that he was ready to go for the attack that he had been planning for months.
Through scouting and observing the Planet's fighters, he had felt like there wouldn't be too much resistance given to him during the actual attack on the USD base but he did expect numbers of individuals at the base. Along with that, he did account for a few of Earth's more powerful fighters showing up to defend a part of their planet. Though even if they did, he had felt more than prepared to handle them. This mornings goal was to improve upon a few more of his techniques and even add a new one in order to evade incoming attacks easier.
This morning he had wished to improve upon his Nova Punch technique and his Nova Cannon. He had also wanted to learn how to leave an image of himself behind in order to fool his opponents. He felt that the more techniques he had at his disposal the better and nothing he wanted to do here had been of high difficulty. He just needed to find the time to do it all and that's what kept it being pushed back. Today, he had made no other plans. His goals and wishes were to do it all today, he had left his camp behind and took off in a direction that he wouldn't normally go. He intended to find a spot where he wouldn't be bothered by those he knew or strangers, he wanted to train alone and in peace without any kind of distractions.Of course with the luck he had, that wouldn't be the case today. Everything he had planned would absolutely go out the window.
Athren headed a direction he didn't frequently go, Athren had headed south towards the tropical islands. As he flew through the morning sky, his ocean blues would see something that he didn't quite expect to see. A pod had been entering the atmosphere, the ball of fire descended rapidly as it hurled towards Earth's surface. Athren of course stopped right there, hovering in place as the warm breeze kissed his skin and ruffled his hair. "You've got to be kidding me, again?" He mumbled aloud as this was the second time in a short period of time that he'd witness a pod coming to the planet.
What was it with Earth that was attracting so much attention? Athren couldn't help but wonder if the planet had always been like this or if it had just been recently that interstellar travel had become so damn popular. Athren had hovered their watching as the pod collided with the Earth, the loud crash and bang echoing throughout the island landscape which it had crashed upon. Athren couldn't help but want to simply go his own way and ignore it, he wanted nothing more than to go ahead and proceed with his training in order to get himself squared away for what was to come but another part of him was just too curious. He wanted to know who was coming to Earth and why? Could it have been another saiyan like Jorey, or was it something else completely?
After giving it a brief moment of thought, Athren had decided to investigate. Though he very easily could have went off to continue his own plans, something about saiyan style pods had caught his attention. After all, maybe this could be another saiyan he could add to his cause? Another saiyan to unleash upon the USD in their most mightiest form! Maybe it was just a chance meeting that was far too good to pass up on.
It was at that moment that Athren flew towards the landing site, his boots touching down against the ground where the individual could see him. Of course Athren's ocean blues would immediately pick up on something, they had rested on the saiyan's tail. At first Athren couldn't help but arch a brow and wonder what this saiyan had been doing here. Was this saiyan similar to Jorey, or was his reasons for being here meaningful or relevant to the saiyan empire? It was a very curious thing and if this individual was here on business, what exactly could it be?
With Athren's power level suppressed, the saiyan would have likely seen him before sensing him. Athren crossed his arms and casually spoke aloud. "Another saiyan coming to Earth? Here for a vacation or you got something else in mind?" Athren asked this lightly. He didn't want to come across as if he was digging to deep immediately, though he was curious. He figured he'd receive attitude, but he'd find out in a hurry.

It looked like Quash didn't have to sense anything, because he heard a voice call out to him from nearby. He opened his eyes, seeing a tailed man standing not too far away from. It was a little startling, as he hadn't even sensed his arrival. Judging by the tail and the armor, it looked like he was a saiyan. Well, that was pretty convenient, considering saiyans were exactly the type of people he was looking for.
In any case, this was quite the welcome wagon. He hadn't even said two words to him yet and this guy was already grumpy. From the sound of it, this individual had already run into saiyans arriving on Earth before and was clearly annoyed by it. Despite that, Quash was still willing to recruit him into the rebellion to fight against the crown. Before that though, he had to make sure that he wasn't talking to a member of the Saiyan Military already. That... that would be awkward.
"You know, on the brochure it said that one of Earth's best features, in addition to the pearly white clouds and the pretty sunset, was how welcoming its inhabitants were. Can't say I'm feeling the warm welcome yet." Quash replied sarcastically, faking a "karen"-like demeanor. He chuckled a little himself before answering seriously. Nothing like a good joke to break the ice and weaken the tension between the two. "Don't worry, I'm only kidding. Seriously though, at least take me to dinner first."
Quash bent over to touch his toes, wanting to stretch his legs some more. "How about we introduce ourselves first, yeah? I'm Quash. And you are?" While it certainly didn't seem like he took his visitor all that seriously, this was actually his way of dodging the question until he could learn more about who he was speaking to and what side he aligned with. Unfortunately, it seemed like he was dealing with one of the "super strong and uptight" types. That was never fun.

Athren didn't quite expect to hear what he did, it appeared that this saiyan was one of those over-the-top jokers who think they're entertaining or funny, the demon-saiyan couldn't help but roll his eyes at the comments that were made. Maybe it was the new environment and the new planet that brought him to this line of interaction or maybe it was just him, whatever it was Athren wasn't exactly laughing at all of it. Thankfully he was given a moment to introduce himself rather quickly and he saw it as his moment to change the entire direction of the conversation.
"Athren." He kept it short and simple, he didn't need to say much else or go back into the history or why he was here on the planet. He simply stated his name, point blank and rather cold, though he was aware that his question had never been answered and he'd once again ask. He genuinely wanted to know what this saiyan had been doing on Earth. Did he desert Vegeta just like he did or was he here on business? It was rather a curious thing. Though Athren had left his home planet he was still curious about the on going events, with the rumors he had heard regarding it before he left, he wanted to know if anything had developed and saiyan visitors such as this one was his only line of updates regarding Vegeta's current events.
Athren's posture remained strong and stiff, his arms crossed and his right brow arched curiously. "I'll ask again, what brings you to Earth? Is this a business trip or more of a vacation?" Of course Athren realized that saiyan's didn't really take a vacation. His assumption had remained, it was either he was here on business or he was simply a deserter. Either way, he didn't really give much of a shit. If he could guide the conversation to the current events happening on Vegeta, he would do that in a heartbeat.
It's what he really wanted to know, whether a battle had finally broke out or the current rulers were overthrown. He was invested in the planet, invested in its current events. He could only hope that this saiyan would make it easier or that he could tolerate his light hearted jokes. Though he'd have to admit, he wasn't impressed at this point and he felt like it'd take a lot for him to deal with this guy. The personality, though outgoing was just a little much for him.
He was so used to dealing with overconfident, proud, strong warriors from the elite side of things. The type of fighters who had always put their pride and their duty before anything else. They were a different breed but very common throughout the ranks of the elites. This guy on the other hand was completely opposite. Athren assumed he wasn't an elite, if anything he must have been a low class? Whether or not he was right on the hunch didn't really matter to anything going on, it wasn't a priority though. He was just trying to figure this guy out, why was he so light compared to most? He must've not been one to experience the life of an elite, or maybe he did and this was just his coping mechanism? Who knew.

"...Golly gee willickers Athren, you really don't play around huh?" Quash replied. It seemed like Athren didn't quite have the same type of humor he did. Still, it was a mystery why his purpose was anyone's business. Sure, he was a saiyan and he had done some... unpleasant things, but right now Planet Vegeta was allied with Planet Earth. As of right now, there shouldn't be anything to fear. If anything, Quash should be a little concerned because of how forward this guy was being!
"In any case, I've come to look for the legendary island of Noneya... None ya business!" Quash joked again, at this point just trying to get under his nerves. While he could acknowledge that he was dragging on the jokes for a little too long, to the point where he may even call himself a little childish, he cut himself some slack. After all, it was a really boring and uneventful ride. He needed some kind of stimulation and unfortunately this would have to do.
"You know, you could try asking again. I hear the third time's the charm, you know. Or, and hear me out, you could help me find some food first! Maybe then I'll be in a better mood to put up with your prying ass." Quash said, a little sarcastic. He was hungry and tired, he needed to get something in his stomach quickly. Besides, he figured he didn't have to answer to him. As far as Quash knew, all of the high ranking Saiyan Officers were mostly on Vegeta. It didn't look like he was with the USD either. Basically, he was some random nobody, and the Captain didn't answer to nobodies.

If there was one thing Athren really didn't like or appreciate, it was somebody trying to devalue him. He knew what he was worth, he worked very hard throughout his life to make sure he was an elite, well respected, and stronger than most. Every ounce of his being before his children were born was put into his own evolution, he transformed himself from a reckless powerful boy into a very powerful, tactical and skilled man. It had taken years of effort and dedication and those who had to see him grow respected him. Those who had met him recently had respected him. He had tried to be the perfect balance of strength and strategy, he wanted his smarts to lead the way in combat and his power to back it up and that's exactly what he had managed to do. He wasn't just an average saiyan, he was something special and that was in terms of his demonic powers and his overall skill level. He was just one of a kind.
He wasn't going to let this idiot take that away from him, ask three times? This fool was lucky that Athren had bothered to ask twice. It was a benefit of the doubt moment in order to try and get Quash to find his place but it didn't look like that was going to happen. This fool had no idea who he was dealing with. The typical saiyan attitude was felt, it had seemed that this individual thought he was something else, something special. The truth was? He wasn't shit and Athren was willing to prove it.
He could feel himself being annoyed now more than even, every single word was spoken from the saiyan digging under Athren's skin. Getting right to his nerves, grinding him to the point of using massive restraint in an effort to not swing the first fist like this. Though he would have loved to do such a thing, he was going to give this individual a chance to step into line and learn his place. Was it the new planet and environment? Was it the way Athren approached or was it simply the chip on this guys shoulder? Whatever it was, it needed to be stomped out now.
Athren's posture remained cross-armed, though he perched up and straightened out his form a little bit more. Standing a little bit taller as his voice finally traveled the open air. His words were stern and ever so serious as his ocean blues locked onto Quash's eyes. "I'm going to tell you this once, only once and you better fucking listen." Athren paused for the slightest moment, following through with his recommendation. "I don't know who the hell you are on Vegeta, what you rank or how important you think you are but right here, on this planet. You've got no friends, no allies, nobody who gives a shit about you." Athren's right eyebrow arched as his ocean blues kept on Quash, though at this point he was scanning for any signs of body movement that would indicate a quick strike coming his way. "You're absolutely nothing here, you're irrelevant. So if I were you I'd drop your smart ass attitude and straighten the fuck out because I will have no problem shutting you the hell up myself, and nobody is going to come to save you from me." Athren's face was now covered by a very confident and cocky smirk. "You got that?"
Now there would be two ways that this could go. This guy would either shut up and listen and realize that he's actually dealing with a real threat or he could keep running his mouth and actually get into a fight. Of course with him being a saiyan and all, Athren had expected that it'd be the latter of the two choices and he was more than willing to see it through but if there was a chance that this guy would learn his place, Athren would give it a chance to redirect the conversation to avoid it. Athren still didn't want to make the planet known to what kind of power he had, he didn't need fighters coming out of the wood works to lock onto his power level and investigate but at the same time, he wasn't about to let some low level trash run their mouth to him like this.
If this saiyan had decided to choose the way of pain, there wouldn't be any holding back. Athren would absolutely make sure that this fight had ended with Quash face down in the dirt. Athren was motivated and prepared for whatever it was to come and he had planned on using his demonic side to completely outclass and embarrass this guy. If he wanted to talk like he was a cocky asshole, Athren would be more than happy to bring him down a notch and prove to him that he's truly nothing, that he's outclassed in every single way. There would be no mercy, no regard for this individuals general safety or their emotions. It was going to be about pain and embarrassment and Athren damn well knew that he could deliver on that. The only thing that would avoid that outcome, was this individuals choice. What was it going to be, a fight with the demon or something else completely? It was time to find out.

To be honest, most of what Athren was saying went in one ear and out the other at this point. Something, something, "nobody cares about you!", something, something, "you got no friends!", something, something, "I'm gonna beat you up!". In fact, he could've sworn he heard a "get rekt scrub" somewhere in all that. Still, out of everything Athren said, one thing that did stand out to him was the "saving" part. To a saiyan born and raised on Planet Vegeta, being saved was something that resulted in quite a blow to one's ego. After all, they were a proud warrior race that loved testing the limits of their abilities and conquering their foes. A lot of self-worth was dependent on their strength and capability and, as a result, being "saved" was an easy way to be labeled as a "weak link". And if there was one thing Quash was sure he wasn't going to be, it was that.
Once he had his chance to speak, Quash momentarily derailed the conversation, however he was no longer trying to deliberately beat around the bush. Instead, he was trying to defend his honor. He didn't have to take this from him! "Now hold on there mister, saving?" Feeling insulted and admittedly defensive, he put his hand on his hips and titled his head to the side. "Do I look like the type a guy who'd be dumb enough show up to a place that I wouldn't be ready for?"
And then, right on time, he had flashbacks to all of the times the saiyans had taken needless risks just because it meant they'd have a good fight on their hands. "Actually, don't answer that. The point is, I'm a Captain in the Saiyan Military and I've more than earned that title after 20 years of service. I can handle myself quite well, thank you very much. You know, you got some nerve showing up out of nowhere thinking that anyone listening will be at your beck and call. I don't tell you how to live your life. Did I ask you what you're doing here? I know Saiyan Armor when I see it, and that is definitely what you have on. Am I curious? Yeah, but you don't see me playing twenty questions. I mean, I wanted to, but that's not important! I'm tired, I'm hungry, my muscles are tight, and the last thing I need is some jackass who thinks he's hot shit expecting me to fall in line like I'm one of his little soldiers. How about you rip out whatever stick you got your ass and at the very least let me breathe a little before you start your little "interrogation"?"
If nothing changed after this, Quash was more than willing to fight him. He might've not been planning on it, but he was quickly getting in the mood.

Athren would rather be impressed with the fact that this individual had silenced himself long enough for Athren to get all of his words out, of course with the tensions rising that it was in fact the smartest move that Quash could have made and it would appear as if Athren had hit all the sweet spots to get under Quashes skin enough that he would feel the need to actually turn it into a real conversation. Unfortunately, though, it may have been a little bit too late for words. He had his chance but he kept running his mouth. Even though tensions had been raised, Athren actually listened to the individual as he spoke. It wasn't out of respect but more to see if his attitude would change, and it turned out that it did, ever so slightly that he was almost tolerable now, almost. Of course, he still had his dumb comments, but they had declined dramatically. Now Athren had a decision to make, did he continue to instigate the situation in hopes that he could dominate this guy in the battlefield or could he too change his format a little bit and take a different approach, one that would be a little more fitting to calm this down? Of course Athren couldn't help but be himself and without much though, he would move forward with his attitude but leave an opening. The fate of what would happen next would be in Quashes hands. It would all be determined on him.
Though Athren's posture didn't change, his tone had relaxed ever so slightly. It wasn't that he was looking to avoid a fight, but he'd give Quash an escape from it. "Interrogation? You're aware I asked you if you were here on vacation or something else entirely, and knowing the saiyan race it's probably business. Whether or not you wanted to give me details or not, I wouldn't have given a shit, and answer such as something else would have been fine." Athren had paused at this point, his ocean blue eyes still glaring upon Quash. "I didn't tell you how to live your life, I didn't even play twenty questions. I asked a reasonable question given the circumstances, I opened a line of communication and yet, you decided to run your mouth like a child."
It was at this point that Athren had shrugged his shoulders, he really didn't give a shit about this guys rank or status of the saiyan military. Athren wasn't a part of that anymore and he had no desire to return to that life, no decision he had made here could be used against him as a disciplinary action, he was free to do as he pleased without consequence and as far as his reputation had gone on planet Vegeta, it was simply no longer relevant. He didn't need respect there, he didn't need to be held above the rest. It didn't matter. What mattered was this moment and respect, and he'd get it one way or another. "And here's the thing, I don't give a shit about your rank, your status or your twenty years of service, It doesn't mean shit to me, I've put more years than that into it and I've got no problem wiping the ground with your face if you push me. So drop your smart ass remarks and maybe, just maybe we can manage a conversation."
With that being said, Athren had felt as if his words hit the mark, there was no need to continue going into what he'd do if he was provoked, surely this guy had gotten it by now and hopefully, he'd manage to wrap his head around the whole thing. Of course, Athren was very aware of how stubborn and headstrong the saiyan race had been and how headstrong they were, after all those were traits that Athren too though had carried with him. Though for him, it wasn't just in the DNA but more the culture had been exposed to for a vast majority of his life, it was only expected that he'd carry some of their traits with him. Though at times he had to admit maybe he was worst, the fact that he was half demon had given him some additional traits, like torment. He did admire getting under people's skins when they were pitted against him, he liked scratching open their wounds to watch them suffer, he liked hitting them where it hurt the most and of course, exploiting every aspect of somebody he could if they were deemed necessities to his own plans.
He couldn't help but think that if this situation could idle down and get redirected to a different tone, he could possibly lead this individual into a similar fate. He could make this Captain with twenty years of service his pawn for his own bidding, he could turn him into a tool to be used against the USD base and Athren wouldn't even have to get his hands dirty, that would actually be the perfect method of showing this individual just who each of them were. Though it would be a game, it would show Quash that even though he was a Captain, he was also just a pawn to somebody bigger. All Athren had to do was see if the cards would be in his hands. It would be a difficult task though surely, after all the way this started off it would be difficult to redirect and gain a level of trust, even if the said level was minimal. Then again, both of them were saiyan's and they could understand each other to a degree and Athren could surely figure out what this guy wanted, what he was here for and lead him into a false sense of security. Time would tell, for now, Athren would wait for his response. Whether it be more words or battle, he'd embrace and carry through but in the back of his head, the gears were turning and he was plotting.

"I sound like a child? Big talk coming from someone who's mental age is no higher than 16. You sound like a kid in their angsty-teen phase. "Nobody understands me, everything sucks, I don't care about your life, woe is me.". In fact, I think I almost cut myself on that edge. What's next, you're gonna dye part of your hair a different color?"
Quash sat on the grass in a "crisscross applesauce" style.
"Also, some piece of advice for your next encounter, people who actually don't care don't need to announce it to the world every five seconds. Seriously, I mean you "don't care about me" and yet you won't shut up about it. I mean, I can't say I'm surprised. After all, it's easy for my good looks to catch anyone's attention, but next time at least say "Hi.". Don't get mad at me for my attitude because no one taught you how to interact on the most basic level. Fact is, you brought this on yourself, pal. What is it they say? You reap what you sow? I already told you, I just wanna eat. I can literally feel my stomach starting to digest itself. You're lucky I'm starving, or else I would've really shown you who'd really "mop the floor" with who."
"Listen, let's cut to the chase. You don't like me, I don't like you. Hell, I don't even want to look in your general direction. To be honest, you're pretty unsightly. We both want to move on with our lives, so how about this. I'll cut you a deal. You can get one do-over, this time talking like a normal person, and then maybe I'll tell you what I'm doing here. You better hurry up though, cause the hungrier I get the more stubborn I become."

Athren really couldn't tell whether this individual was stupid or not, he was provided with an easy option out that really wasn't damaging to his pride but what he decided to do was continue to run his mouth, who the hell was this guy? He just didn't stop running his mouth and talking smack, even taking it to make fun of Athren being edgy, and dying his hair? Like c'mon, really and he's got the nerve to talk about a mental age of sixteen? Never in Athren's years did he meet a saiyan with this type of an attitude, sure there had been plenty clouded with the thought of their pride and had a loud mouth to go along with it but this? This was unbelievable, how was this guy even a saiyan? Regardless, Athren didn't ponder the content of the words too much as they really didn't matter to him, what did matter was his attitude and demeanor, and Athren wasn't going to let his guy speak to him like that, he was going to put him into his place, he was going to tear him apart.
"Alright then." Athren snickered, "Have it your way." It was instantly where Athren's power level spiked up to it's maximum in his weighted state, he wasn't here to play around lightly and warm up, he wasn't going to slowly let the battle escalate, he was going to prove a point. At this point he didn't consider the reading's he'd send across the planet for those to sense, he didn't give a shit whether or not he'd be put on anybody's radar and be detected. Plus, it's not like this was suspicious activity, if anybody did come around it was a simple fight between two saiyan's and nothing more, if anybody knew anything about the race, there wasn't a need for a reason other than that to justify a fight. After all, it was exactly what the saiyan race was known for, their brutal warriors, their love for fighting.
Even though Athren hadn't made the first move yet, he had already felt his adrenaline pumping up, he could feel his blood pumping as his excitement had fueled him. It had been a long time since had fought anybody seriously, to prove a point of who was the superior fighter in order to put somebody in their place, and though it had felt like forever, it was a welcomed and comfortable feeling. Athren had found himself in this very situation countless times, though the reasoning had never really come down to something so petty, the concept wasn't new to him, nor would it ever be. He was a fighter at heart, he had trained his entire life for moments like this to make sure that he had always come out on top. Even if defeat were possible, he'd learn from it and grow to ensure that it wouldn't happen again by the same individual twice, it wasn't his style. He'd fight and overcome all odds, no matter what it took out of him. He didn't give up easily, he didn't quit.
Though staring the fight Athren would make his move immediately after he showed off his power, he dashed in quickly and lifted his right foot. He was hoping to catch Quash in the face as he sat on the ground, this wasn't to keep an assault going, this was simply to get Quash out of his sitting position and to make him aware that he's about to engage in a fight. Though Athren wanted to put this guy in his place, he wasn't just going to start a barrage of attacks like that, one kick sure, but more? He'd at least let his opponent brace for what was really to come.
It was truly a rarity for Athren to become this invested in a situation so silly, but he'd take it seriously. He wasn't somebody you could try and push around, he didn't tolerate foolishness or disrespect, he'd go to extreme lengths to maintain his image to all. If he would have just let this guy run his mouth without consequences, what would that say? That he was a push over? That he didn't have a back bone, that wasn't something he could live with, that wasn't something he'd let go so easily. Every single challenge he had ever overcome, to ever single fight he had ever been in had earned him that respect. So what if this guy didn't like the way he approached or spoke, why did it matter? His conversation was so light, poking the skin ever so lightly to start a conversation yet it had to escalate to this?
Of course with all hopes of de-escalation thrown out the window, Athren's only goal in mind was to win and it didn't matter how that victory would come. He had a few dirty tricks up his sleeve that he was more than willing to try. Of course, Athren wouldn't be intending on killing this individual, even if the Earth would be better without him but he would make sure that by the end of it, Athren was standing over him reaffirming what he had said previously, that there was nobody coming to help, there was nobody that could save quash from him. After all, Athren didn't really like to lie, he wouldn't lie and he damn well wasn't going to make a liar out of himself here. Though the fight had started over something so small, it had now meant something to Athren and the stakes were high. Plus, if he won.. it'd be a good story for his son. Celric would be absolutely pumped to hear that his dad beat the living shit out of some saiyan for running his mouth, maybe not being the greatest role model but for a half saiyan boy to hear that? Hell, that'd pump him up and motivate him for sure! All that was left was for Athren to deliver, to strike hard and make every hit count.

"Oof!"
Quash was sent onto his back, his body sliding across the grass before he was able to gain control of his own momentum and get himself back onto his feet. It looked like he had really struck a nerve this time, and now he had to get ready for a fight. While he wasn't really intending on fighting Athren, there was no way he was going to just let him get a free shot in and have him get away scott-free. He massaged his jaw for a moment with his eyes slightly widened, still processing Athren's action. He was a little surprised and even impressed. To be honest, he wasn't sure if the guy had any bite to his bark. Yet, there was actually real power behind that attack. This certainly wasn't going to be easy. Still, that was the best part, right?
"Okay..."
In classic saiyan fashion, Quash no longer desired food. He still had a great deal of hunger, but for combat. His white aura lit up around his body as he powered himself up. Suddenly, it was as if his entire demeanor changed. From an observer's perspective, it was obvious that the fun and games were a thing of the past now. Quash had a knife-piercing glare and took his own fighting stance. He had laser-focus, honing his attention in on his target. If it was a fight Athren wanted, it was a fight he was going to get. Screw everything else, all he wanted was to win.
Quash ran towards Athren and jumped into the air. As he descended upon his assailant, he'd spin his body around to put his whole body into his left leg as he swung it at the side of the saiyan's throat. He'd then let himself hit the ground, using what remained in his spin and to transition into a leg sweep to knock him off balance. The entire motion was very fluid, demonstrating that, despite Quash's attitude earlier, he was still very experienced and adept at combat.
While his opponent may not be interested in dragging this fight out, Quash was testing the waters himself. He wanted to size up his opponent, see what he was made of before he really began to cut loose.

Athren couldn't help but smirk when his foot had made contact with his target's jaw, it was just so satisfying. From the way, it felt on his foot to the sound the fool made all the way to the way he fell on his back. It was the perfect strike to get this entire situation to pop off. Of course, Athren was well aware that this action would have asked for obvious retaliation, after all he was dealing with a saiyan. It really didn't matter what the odds were for a saiyan, they tended to rise up and fight. Especially if they were physically attacked. More often than not, words were normally enough to trigger a saiyan to strike, whether that be in the form of an insult, pure annoyance or anything in between, Athren was proving that concept. Though in this case, it was more about the attitude behind the words that pushed him to make a basic attack, he needed to shut this fool up and simply remind him of his place, he needed to remind him that he was nothing here. Quash wasn't on Vegeta anymore, his rank, his pride, none of it really mattered anymore to anybody but himself and that was a foolish mistake to make on a new planet. For one, you never really knew who you'd run into or the threats that could be around at any point in time, you needed to play it cool and smart on a new planet, and evaluate the danger before running your mouth, this individual had failed to do that.
Athren's ocean blue eyes had locked onto Quash, observing and waiting for him to make a move. His fighting stance had been firm and strong. He was ready to move at a moment's notice as he waited for the attack to come in his direction. The glare he was getting in return let him know that things were about to get serious, the adrenaline rushing through his system as the first strike had drawn near. He was eager and ready. Athren watched as Quash had ran in his direction, it appeared that Quash was just as eager to get this fight going, he leaped into the air quickly and descended upon Athren with a hard spin kick towards Athren's throat. Athren knew he didn't need to move, he was just going to block it. He lifted is arm up and brought his forearm close to his bicep to make a tight V, he provided Quash with more surface area to spread the energy behind the kick through so it wouldn't be as hard. Athren was always a smart fighter, every single move that he had made was always well calculated and in his best interests. He never liked getting caught up in his emotions and letting his actions get sloppy due to that, he always needed to be better, superior, and in control of his thoughts and emotions at all times. It was simply the best way for him to move forward as the victor.
A smirk still on Athren's face, he watched as Quash had hit the ground and used his remaining momentum to swing himself into a leg sweep to try and knock Athren off balance. Athren had a very simple counter to this one, he simply jumped back and took flight, he let the sweep go right underneath his body. At the same time that Athren had jumped up into the air his right hand had cocked back in an open position, forming a small Ki blast and tossing it downwards at his opponent. Though it was a very weak Ki blast, it was more to throw Quash off and make him focused on it instead of what was coming immediately afterwords.
The second that Athren had thrown the blast his right fist had cocked back and began to get surrounded by his aura, the orange, beautiful hue of it embracing his fist as he launched himself down towards Quash to unleash his Nova Punch technique! "HYAH!" Of course he would have aimed it right towards Quashes cheek, it would be the most satisfying place to hit him. Maybe it'd even be enough to finally wipe that grin off his face, or contain the attitude that Quash had continued to display, regardless. Athren could only hope but he knew this little battle was far from over.
Athren knew he still had a few trump cards under his sleeve if he needed them, though it was unlikely. If the battle started going in a negative direction for him, he could at first use his Demonic Presence to increase of odds of winning and even if that began to fail, he'd simply have the option of removing his weight and at that point? Well, he'd be so much more powerful than what he could possibly dish out now. It would be assumed that a combination of the two would instantly end the battle on Athren's terms, he couldn't imagine a saiyan being as strong as that on his own without the full moon. Besides the beautiful Zerori, he had never seen a saiyan capable of anything else besides the Oozaru transformation, and even finding her had taken twenty-eight years. It was highly unlikely that Athren would stumble into anybody else like them with such unique abilities for a saiyan, even on all his time on Vegeta there was nobody like him.
He was confident with his train of thought that he couldn't lose this fight and at this point he was willing to display a little bit more power than he originally had thought. After all, winning was kind of the most important thing in this moment and what was the likely hood of somebody actually investigating his power after minimal displays of it? He didn't think the chances were high, he assumed he'd be safe. The only risk in it all was if somebody managed to spot him and track him back to the camp, that could serve as a problem but then again, he had a problem right in front of him and that was to be dealt with first.

Athren managed to avoid Quash's simple attacks. Not at all surprising, considering the Captain was still warming up. He didn't like how high and mighty his opponent had been acting. So what if they were on a different planet? The last thing Quash was going to do was take any kind of shit from some guy in an orange outfit. Who even wears orange anyway? Blue is the new black, obviously. If he needed to earn respect, that was fine by him. He was planning on doing it the only way he knew how:
By beating it out of them.
Athren looked like he was quickly going on the offensive, firing a ki blast towards Quash while he was still down. He responded by blocking it with one arm. He had to say, the attack was particularly weak. Hell, the kick from earlier was stronger than that. Surely even the most experienced fighters would know that it would take a lot more than that to stop someone like-
FLOPPING FLOTSAM WHAT'S THAT!!
Quash had just barely managed to transition into a more braced block, crossing his arms fully over his head as he was hit with one hell of a punch. Despite having prepared for the impact, the attack hit him like a truck. He grunted loudly as the momentum had sent his body flying back. Gaining his bearings after flying back into around what would be considered "Mid-Range", he managed to fire off his Lima Laser technique, before he used his flight to cancel out the force, which would bring his body into a screeching halt. The piercing beam of ki would be directed at Athren's knee in an attempt to begin to cripple him. He dropped to the ground and got into his fighting stance once again. However, he could already feel his arms shaking slightly from that punch. He had to admit, his physical prowess was admirable. He made a mental note to try not to take too many of those.
"Woo!" Quash said, feeling his heart beating fast he hoped he could match the momentum. He was excited now, and there was no hiding it. "Gotta say, that one was a doozy. This is gonna be fun, I can already tell."
Quash had quickly come to the conclusion that he had to skip the warmup. Athren clearly wasn't playing around.

Athren wouldn't be one to admit it out loud but he was enjoying himself quite a bit already, it wasn't every day that he had an opportunity to actually try and hurt somebody, actually to try and put them down for good. It was quite the motivator, it was one hell of a reason behind the drive he had felt behind him. It was something that would push him to victory as it did so many times in the past. In this case though, the cost of failure wasn't as high. The spoils of victory or the sadness of defeat would play a role only mentally here, there wasn't any awards to win or crowds to please, there wasn't a promotion to try and get or a class to outrank, everything gained would be personal satisfaction and for a saiyan, though it was something important it wasn't a make or break it type situation.
Though the fight had still been in it's earliest stages, Athren was pretty confident that he could have this one in the bag using simple tactics. He saw the expression on Quash's face when the Nova punch came along and it wasn't something he had anticipated. Using a weak attack as a distraction and following it up with something a little more heavy-hitting was common, it was something Athren would always be looking for in a fight. Half of a fight was a mental game, figuring out your opponent's style and moves was half of the battle, once you could get a read on that, predicting movements became a whole lot easier. It would allow you to not only defend yourself easier but to dish out damage easier, of course you would have to remain unpredictable for it to work.
Athren had watched as Quash had gotten moved back from the force of the Nova Punch. It was one of Athren's most basic, yet hard-hitting techniques. It was a technique he wanted to improve upon further but had never really found the time to do so. If anything, watching the rather insignificant effects of it was just a motivator for him to get it done as soon as he could. Before the attack on the USD would have been nice but he knew his time frame wasn't so open. For now, he'd have to make the limited techniques he had at his disposal work. When the distance between them grew, Athren had expected retaliation, though he didn't think it would come so soon, before the fighter had even managed to get on his feet.
Athren walked slowly, step by step towards Quash as the blast had been shot his way. He could sense the power behind the technique, it was quite powerful given the circumstances, though it was nothing he couldn't handle. If he didn't have his demonic transformation to back him up, he'd play this a little more carefully but for now, he'd play the game the way it was laid out in front of him. "Alright then!" Athren exclaimed rather calmly, more so for himself than for Quash to hear. Quickly, Athren would create his Nova Cannon technique in his right hand and launch it to meet Quash's attack in the middle, though Athren would have used his Ki sense to get a reading on the incoming attack so he could match it perfectly, letting both the techniques dissipate between each other.
It was at this point that Athren pressed off his right foot and launched himself forwards to close the gap between the two of them, and as he launched himself forward, his right hand would have sprung up and a very weak Ki blast would have once again been launched. Though this time, it was aimed right at the ground before Quash. BANG! It crashed into the Earth's surface, just enough to kick up dirt and debris and create a cloud of dust to make it difficult to see what was coming.
Though this could work against Athren, given the fact that he was RIGHT there it was unlikely for Quash to reposition in time, though not impossible Athren kept his attack pattern VERY simple. He kept his momentum forward and went to CRASH into Quash's skull with his own in a very brutal style headbutt. Athren had expected that the force from it would have been more than enough to force Quash out of the dust, but plans didn't always go the way they were supposed too. If this had been successful, Athren would have found himself sturdy on his feet, ready to continue the fight and anticipating his opponent's next move.
Athren didn't just fight with powerful attacks, he didn't just try to overwhelm his opponents with strength or outclass them with strategy. He would also very commonly attempt to fight like nothing they've ever seen before, in an attempt to demoralize, to have them second guessing their every move. Athren wasn't a regular fighter, he didn't fight like any other saiyan who walked the planet Vegeta. He knew he could carry tremendous weight through his actions and confidence and sometimes, that alone would be enough to win a fight.
Of course he didn't expect Quash to be afraid of him, but if he could get into his head and play some head games. More of the advantage would be his, and he'd take every ounce he could get just to put this loud mouth in his place. There was nothing Athren had wanted more, than to do such a thing. He wanted to get into this guys head and show him, that he wasn't as good as he thought he was, that his rank had meant nothing, that his efforts throughout his life would not get him through this moment as the victor. Athren wanted to break him, mentally and physically, to prove a point, to prove to the two of them who was better. Athren knew it could be done, it was a matter of how and when.

Athren sure had some tricks up his sleeve. He managed to completely counter the Lima Laser! The Captain was getting more excited and was very much enjoying the thrill of battle. He practically forgot what started this in the first place, right now he just wanted to push his own limits and test his abilities. Athren had said something about being a part of the Saiyan Military before, even having served for a longer time than him. He was curious what the previous generation was capable of.
Quash admired a well-played maneuver, but this battle wasn't over yet and he wasn't about to let his adversary get too confident. As his opponent fired off another ki blast, he couldn't help but notice it was about as weak as the last one. Considering what happened last time, Quash was prepared for a stronger attack coming. The same trick wasn't about to work on him twice. This time, he was going to shake things up a tad.
This time, the blast had kicked up quite the dust cloud. This set off alarms in Quash's head immediately, already wary of the raw power his opponent had displayed moments ago. He, almost instinctively, pushed back off of his front foot with as much force as he could muster to dash out of the cloud he was in. It was a good thing too, because he could practically feel Athren's energy right on top of him! He managed to narrowly dodge his attack, firing off a ki blast at close range in response. His aura flared a little more as he immediately generated momentum back towards Athren, this time calling upon his signature Savoy Sword! He thrusted the energy blade forward to follow up in his effort to turn the tide once again. While he couldn't see his body clearly due to the dust that was still around, he used the energy he sensed as a way to stab at what would be "center mass". He figured he'd hit something.
