It became obvious rather quickly that Athren had put himself in a bad position, though his tactic was rather clever in theory, in practice it didn't exactly hold up. So far, his attitude wasn't getting in his opponent's head and he was still acting accordingly and being a really clever fighter. In this situation, Athren wasn't going to acknowledge that Quash may have actually had some potential but instead claim this had happened due to himself being too light with the fight so far. Athren's moves may have been clever but rather sloppy with his own positioning, he had put himself in harm's way with his basic outmaneuvers. Though foolish, so far none of his mistakes were fatal. He wasn't going to be put into a life-threatening situation that easily, there was always a way out, one would just have to figure it out.
What Athren didn't expect was Quash to press the attack while visibility was low, that was a gamble for either of them for it could go any way. Of course, Athren taking that gamble put himself in this position and there was an opening for Quash. Barely managing to get his foot Athren was SMACKED with a Ki blast on the shoulder. "Hmph!" A tiny grunt had escaped his lips, though this wasn't due to any kind of pain brought on by the blast, it was simply brought on by the collision on his body and the surprise of it. Though it left some smoke rolling off his exposed shoulder, it didn't really do much else than that. The next attack though Athren was a little bit more prepared for, though he didn't know what to expect, he knew to expect something.
Athren finally had seen what attack was coming, it was a Ki blade that had been wrapped around his opponent's hand. Now, this wasn't expected at all and it was a hazardous attack and one would need to take caution. A technique like that had the potential to cut limbs off and pierce through the skin like nothing. With the blade being lunged towards his torso Athren had little time to react but he had to do something.
It was at this point that both of Athren's hands extended in front of his body, his left hand wrapped around the back of his right as he used his ki to surround his hands. The blade collided with Athren's right palm, pushing it back as his arms slowly began to retract towards his chest, his ocean blue eyes locked onto Quashes as he slowly brought the momentum of the blade to a stop while grunting throughout the whole ordeal. Though once the blade was stopped it was time for Athren's counterattack!
Athren had kept his right hand where it was to guide the blade upwards as his left hand jolted forward in an attempt to get a solid grasp around Quash's wrist. Once the blade had been in a safe place Athren released it and in a very swift movement crouched and moved forward, his right hand joined his left in grabbing Quashes's arm as he pivoted in place and lifted himself up higher, using Quashes body weight against him Athren would attempt to toss him overhead and down on the ground in front of him! The movement would be smooth and almost elegant like.
If the plan had been successful, Quash would have been thrown over Athren and his back would have hit the ground hard and of course that would give another potential opening for Athren to use his Nova punch technique again, though the more Athren had used it the more he realized he REALLY needed to work on more techniques, he needed to expand his variety, his options, he needed more in his arsenal to deal with ANY potential scenario, for this fight he'd make due but he knew he HAD to improve on himself. He couldn't get caught up like this again with limited techniques to do damage or even avoid damage, he needed to be better!
With Quash potentially on the ground, Athren would cock back his right fist again, the Ki surrounded it once more as he prepared to unleash his devastating attack, it was at this point that he thrust his fist down towards Quashes location on the ground with rapid speed and force. He of course was aiming for his opponent's opened and exposed face. If this one collided, it would surely be felt. From a position standpoint, Athren had felt like he had the higher ground. He was on his two feet and Qaush wasn't, there was a lot of room for Athren to move freely to attack and try and keep Quash down, while Quash would have to get up somehow while avoiding it all. Then again, Quash could just be quick about it.
No matter how this went though, Athren felt he had dialed into this situation just a little bit better, he felt as if he wasn't going to be as sloppy or careless in order to get the correct attitude and determination displayed for his opponent, he'd play fewer head games and just intend on ending this fight the normal way, through a physical beat down. Athren was rather excited to see how his opponent would react, how would he weasel his way out of this situation? What would his counterattack be!? The excitement of the fight grew more and more, with every action and reaction it had felt like the weight of the stakes got heavier and heavier, that winning became more and more important with every passing second. It was all about outsmarting your opponent now, playing it all the right way and coming out on top. This fight wouldn't be settled with simple attacks, but how one would deliver them, how they would plan and execute them to the best of their abilities to gain a solid hit and gain the advantage, anything could happen now, it just grew more exciting.

Quash had a big, fat, excited grin on his face when his Ki blade met Athren's ki-infused palm. He felt a drop of sweat beat down the side of his face as his gaze met his opponent's, his momentum coming to halt as his foe had managed to avoid the attack. Was he gassed out already? No, it wasn't that he was running out of steam. They were... nerves? Wait. Worse.
Chills.
Chills at Athren's skill. In awe of how much more creative he was than the average modern day saiyan you might find on Planet Vegeta. Though, as much as it amazed him, it angered him as well. Seeing Athren fight the way he did only reminded Quash of how far the Saiyan Race had fallen. He knew none of their low class and even some of the elites that he met personally wouldn't fare very well against him, which was a damn shame. They used to be formidable warriors, their power was something that the galaxy knew of far too well. While some had feared them, for others their power was something that was respected. And now, they were being reduced to civilians!
The USD managed to get inside the King's head, causing him to allow the entire race to go down this slippery slope they've been on. Many saiyans, including Quash himself, can't even control their oozaru. This was something that was once a challenge for toddlers! The poor Captain, struggling against a soldier in retirement. Still, he couldn't put all the blame on the USD. After all, he was struggling to be flexible in this battle. He has barely learned any new tricks since recently, only having two real techniques of his own. He didn't take initiative to master the power of the Great Ape himself or even get rid of his "tail problem". As a result, he slowly found himself hitting a wall in this fight.
Still, that didn't have to mean it was over yet. The saiyans had the reputation for surpassing their limits. Quash was far from the point of giving up. There was a way to win against every opponent, right? He just had to find the right way against this one.
His body hit the ground with a thud as Quash was slammed onto his back. He felt the breath get knocked out of him, causing him to take a moment to get it back. Unfortunately, he didn't have a moment. An all too familiar energy punch was headed his way, and he missed his chance to dodge. Knowing what was coming, he decided to face it head on. He crossed his arms over his face, bracing for impact!
Quash could've sworn the attack had the same power behind it the first time, yet it somehow felt even worse the second time around. The force of the punch caused a shockwave against his forearms as it dug a shallow, body sized crater beneath him. He could feel his arms throbbing as a dull ache washed over the muscles in his forearms. He gritted his teeth as he forced himself to get up, managing to fire a ki blast at Athren to distract him long enough for him to get out from underneath him.
Whether the attack ended up landing or not, Quash would use the time to roll onto his feet. His heart was racing as he waited for Athren's next move, knowing that he was, for the moment, backed against the wall. However, he managed to hold fast against the odds that were slowly stacking up against him. He had something to prove not only to his adversary, but to himself as well. He had to prove that it wasn't too late, that he wasn't obsolete. That his kind still had room to grow and eventually rise to what they used to be. His rank may not mean anything here, but his strength did! Right now, he was going to do what he always did when he came across an obstacle: Overcome it!

Athren was pleased that his little maneuver had worked on his opponent and the fact that it was so quick and clean had even made it all the better, it was really a beautiful plan when your strategy had worked on your opponent and put them in a spot where you wanted them to be. Controlling positions in a fight was a very important thing to do, one wouldn't want to get themselves in a spot where their back was against the wall. It left few options to escape it and even the options that were provided would be hard to reach. Though Athren's positioning had worked, his Nova fist once again was blocked. It didn't come as a complete surprise as he had used it in this fight already, it was an easy attack to see and there really wasn't anything special about it yet, it was a move that would grow over time but for now, it was a simple technique to avoid. Athren just knew he'd have to stay sharp and prepare for the counterattack and the moment that Quash would attempt to get back up to his feet, after all, he knew it was coming, You couldn't fight from the ground so getting back to ones feet was a priority, regaining your stance and balance to push forward and continue fighting was a must and Quash was just about to do that, swiftly and rather elegantly. Hell, he'd even throw in a rather decent distraction.
When Quash began to move Athren had found himself eager to press in and try to prevent it but Quash had a little distraction tactic in mind, it was one similar to what Athren had been doing so it wasn't something that was difficult to navigate, but it would press Athren for just the right amount of time for Quash to get to his feet quickly. With the blast coming rapidly in his direction Athren would make a very swift move of his right arm to slap it away and off into the distance. Even if he could tank those blasts all day long, he wouldn't want to give Quash the satisfaction of getting those hits in. Whether or not they'd actually hurt was irrelevant, Athren knew they wouldn't but it was the point behind it all. By the time Athren had swatted the basic blast away his opponent had found himself on his feet and ready to continue the fight, it was a good thing too because it was getting more and more interesting. The fact was they could simply continue blasting techniques at one another in order to do some damage or they could keep it to basic attacks, but the fight wasn't going anywhere. Athren didn't know about his opponent but he knew with his weights on, this thing could last forever. It was time to try another approach, something a little more unique to a scenario to determine a winner, at least.. it was that or simply drag this on for eternity.
The plan that Athren had in mind was rather quite simple but again risky, he was going to target his opponent's tail in order to see if this saiyan was a little lazy with his tail training. If he was lazy there was a solid chance that Athren could end the fight that way, and if he wasn't lazy and his tail was trained, Athren could simply use it as another point to swing his opponent around and collide him with the ground again, either way, he'd make something work for him, it was just a matter of what was he going to do in the meantime.
Athren knew that he wasn't going to go straight for the tail, he wasn't going to make it obvious by no means. His conclusion was simple, for the meantime, he'd keep on the attack and wait for his opponent to give him a chance, give him one hell of an opportunity to sweep in and grip it. Though it was likely Athren would need to create that opportunity. Whether or not he could was a different story, but for now he'd have to try. He wasn't going to try any more diversions, instead, he'd let the fight take its natural course with basic moves and attacks, nothing to fancy. Hell, maybe it'd even be so lacking that his opponent would be thrown off by such basic moves and expose the tail. With those thoughts in his head, it was simply time to go onto the offensive.
It was at that point that Athren stepped forward to engage with his opponent once again, his first attack was a simple right fist that was aimed straight for Quashes nose, the second attack he'd send flying was a left kick, bringing it around and aiming it for Quashes midsection. Neither of these attacks were devastating or brutal, the best thing they had going for them was how they were executed. The form they were thrown and the way they were sent and delivered was all perfect and top notch.
Athren would assume Quash would have a quick and easy counter to this, they weren't anything special. What he anticipated was an exchange of very basic attacks for a little bit, but he would be ready just incase Quash had decided to go with more. Now that Athren had seem some of Quashes techniques, he would make a mental note of them and how they worked, he needed to be best prepared to deal with them again as he knew for a fact this wouldn't be the last time these two faced off against one another. He knew he'd need something to counter that blade, it wasn't a pretty technique to deal with and it was rather risky. Athren knew he'd need to be at his best to pull it off, especially if Quash had went and decided to improve upon it. He liked to know his opponent like the back of his hand, and this was just the start of Quashes chapter in Athren's mind.

It was a good thing that his little plan had worked. It would've been really bad if he was caught in such a compromising position against someone like that. He may as well have called it quits. It didn't look like his ki attack had done too much, but he remained unfazed, knowing that the person he was facing had already proved to be capable of taking just as much as he could dish out. Even so, there had to be a weak spot somewhere... He just had to know where to look.
Quash got focused as Athren began to move in again. Time for action.
Alright, come on. Here we go.
Quash cocked his head to the side, feeling a slight gust of air by the tip of his ear as Athren's fist soared right by the side of his face as he narrowly avoided the initial quick jab. Why did this guy like hitting him in the face so much? He knew that they had gotten off on all the wrong feet, but damn. In any case, he had to tread carefully now. His body had already taken quite the beating from his opponent's continuous, crafty attacks from earlier. Blocking the last hit didn't do him any favors either. Right now, it was clear that while holding his own, he was in a losing battle. Still, losing didn't mean he lost. Not yet at least. For now, Quash would have to relax on going on the offensive. As much as he hated to admit it, Athren's punches hit harder than his own. As a result, he couldn't recklessly trade blows with this guy. If he was going to attack, he was going to have to be smart about it. He was going to have to weigh every movement he made, making sure he didn't take any needless risks. It would probably come down to a battle of wits.
May the best saiyan win.
Once he saw Athren follow up with a kick towards his midsection, Quash's eyes ever so slightly widened. It was now or never. The saiyan immediately pushed off his front foot, bringing down his right forearm to block the attack as he moved very close to his opponent. To the point where one might even be able to smell his sweat from this heated battle. He gritted his teeth as he fought through the pain as his arm tanked the blow. Quash's arms were already in bad shape from blocking both energy punches earlier, and he knew that he was definitely at the very least bruising now. However, that's what also made this battle more exhilarating. He could only hope that he was posing a challenge for his adversary as well. If not, then it was time to prove his own worth!
Now at what would be essentially point-blank range, Quash had the pointer finger of his left hand aimed at Athren's abdomen. Ki flowed through his entire arm and rushed to the tip of his finger before he fired off another Lima laser! He figured he had a solid chance of landing a blow, but he reminded himself he was dealing with a pretty smart guy himself. At this point, the Captain wouldn't be at all surprised if the retired soldier had managed to slip out of this one. He reminded himself to stay on guard and ready at all times, because he knew that if his attack was avoided that his enemy would almost certainly be on the counter attack. He wondered if Athren had a plan for him?

When Athren had gone in for the attack he did it full of confidence, he didn't believe he'd be in much danger. After all, how could one such as Quash put enough power into any one move to do a significant enough amount of damage to put Athren down for good? It just seemed fairly unlikely and Athren was comfortable that he'd be able to handle most of the moves sent towards him by his opponent and even if he couldn't dodge them or block them, surely his body would be able to take quite a lot of abuse before it gave into the punishment and toppled over. When it came to this fight, Athren wouldn't accept defeat and IF he started being pushed back, if he was forced into a corner he'd unlock his power and force his way out, it was how it always was and how it was always going to be, some shmuck captain wasn't going to be the one to change that, especially not one with a loud mouth.
Athren's fist had slipped right by his opponent's head, it wasn't much of a surprise considering the attack was nothing more than a basic punch. It was something anybody could have dodged given they were fast enough, a quick movement of the head was more than enough to deal with that. Athren's second attack, his kick was in a very similar situation. Though maybe a little harder to dodge completely, it was still a really easy attack to handle. All one would have to do is position their body appropriately to spread the force of impact throughout instead of having it all collide with one single location and Quash did just that, he spread the force out appropriately. Though while Athren's leg was up he noticed his opponent left his hand and nearly touch him, his finger extended and ready to fire a blast.
In an instant, Athren felt it, the warmth along with the sting of a beam of ki piercing through his layer of armor, his shirt, and right into his skin. "URGG" It wasn't strong enough to go deep into his body and cause massive damage, it was just strong enough to dig in enough to cause some insignificant bleeding. Now Athren's reaction wouldn't have been something normal, it wouldn't have even been filled with surprise. He had tanked it, his body barely moving from the impact. He made a light grunt, his teeth clenched but he immediately got back into his fighting stance with a smirk on his face. Of course, his body was tender from the impact but it wasn't anything he hadn't ever dealt with before.
For a brief moment, Athren placed a hand upon his wound. The blood leaked from his body onto his hand as he gave his hand a glance. The bleeding wasn't all that bad but he knew he'd have to patch it up when he was done with this little fight. He wouldn't have to rush to finish this fight but he knew it would very slowly start affecting him. "Cute little move you've got there, though it barely managed to pierce through my body." Athren muttered as he started to chuckle as his mind began to think of potential options of what to do next. He wasn't going to push forward again and make a strike the way he was, it was pretty obvious now that Quash was a counterattacker and he really liked using his techniques.
He suspected that Quash would have had some sort of satisfaction within himself for causing some mild damage and seeing Athren bleed, even if it was almost nothing. Now Athren knew he didn't want to give Quash any more moments like that, he didn't want to let Quash think he was getting the upper hand just like that. Oh hell no, he was going to take that all away from him right now and demonstrate exactly how outmatched he was. "Pretty cute tricks you've got, but they aren't going to save you from me." Athren couldn't help but chuckle one more time. It was written all over his face, that he got hit. He wasn't down and out, hell. He wasn't even close to it. He wasn't even trying yet.
"Let me show you just how hopeless you really are." Athren's aura had flared up once more, glowing around his body but it slowly began to change it's color, it turned itself into a purple tone as his power increased by double. As far as the rest of his physical appearance had gone, nothing else would change. He had decided to unleash the demon into the fight, unleash his demonic form for his opponent to face off against. Now if Quash was just an ordinary old saiyan, he'd have nothing to counter this form, there wouldn't be anything he could do except transform into the might Oozaru to face off against him, and even then, he'd require a full moon or the power ball technique and he really doubted his opponent would have access to that kind of technique.
"Let's see how you far against this, shall we?" Athren had stated in his cool and collected tone of voice. It didn't matter that the blood from his body was slowly finding it's path of least resistance to drip onto the ground below, it didn't matter how they stacked up against each other before, or how evenly they met each other's techniques, all that had mattered now was where this was going to go. With Athren outclassing Quash in every single way under the sun, there would likely be zero competition. Athren suspected that now all he'd have to do was apply some pressure and show his opponent that it was over. As far as speed and strength would go, Athren was further beyond his opponent, no longer would they go blow for blow, this was now a one way fight and it was going to be in Athren's favor.

Holy hell, it was about time.
For the majority of this fight, Athren had demonstrated to be one versatile fighter. Despite seemingly having a small arsenal, he was able to throw attacks that were meant to catch the Captain off guard, react quickly and effectively, and avoid taking many direct hits. Fighting him was like fighting a fly in a sense. Simple, maybe even doable, but also incredibly frustrating and annoying. It felt like Quash was trying to pay him back for that kick to the face earlier for ages now. Now, they were even. Well, sort of.
While admittedly it might not have done anything that would be significant enough to put him down, as the attack didn't even manage to stagger him, it was still an achievement. It was only made sweeter by seeing blood drip from the wound and Athren holding it like it did at least sting a little. It looked like despite all that big talk before, he was still just a man. And any man can lose. Quash felt a smile force itself onto his face and butterflies in his stomach. Immediately after that, Athren quickly resorted to talking a lotttt of shit. Going on about how it was "cute", how it didn't do that much damage, and that it was all still "hopeless". It almost sounded like he was compensating for something. Who was the child again?
Quash chuckled slightly.
"Whatever man, cry about it."
The Captain wasn't about to let this kind of thing get to him. Quash wasn't as insecure as his foe seemingly was, and was more than willing to show him that that attack landing wasn't some kind of fluke. The fact that he had this kind of a reaction meant that he was doing something right. He wondered if the relationship was linear. Maybe the more damage he dealt, the more shit he talked? That would certainly be a sight to behold. Still, Quash would be a fool to get too cocky now. Athren was a fierce opponent who had respectable power, and this fight was no joke. If he managed to recruit him into the Saiyan Rebellion he was forming, he would certainly have a reliable ally by his side. If only this guy wasn't such a dick.
Suddenly, something very unexpected happened.
Quash had initially thought Athren was just talking like before, but it turns out he could really put his money where his mouth is. He saw his opponent's aura change color as he felt a significant power increase out of seemingly nowhere? The more Athren's energy rose, the more Quash was in awe. As far as he knew, there was no saiyan who could do something like that. Was it some kind of technique? Was he just holding back his actual power the whole time? He couldn't tell, but it didn't really matter right now. The gap between the two fighters had just increased dramatically, and now he had a lot more on his hands to deal with than before.
"This guy..."
Maybe one might've expected him to cower in fear, run and hide, or just give up. However, the exact opposite happened. Quash's aura flared up as he got back into his fighting position. It didn't matter how strong the enemy was, how skilled they were, or what the odds were. The defining trait of a true saiyan warrior was the ability to challenge what the numbers said or what the situation looked like. So, the wall he was trying to climb over got a little taller, nothing has changed. He strengthened his resolve, getting more excited. This was a big reminder about how much harder he needed to train. He needed strength that not only was comparable to this, but exceeded it. Athren was a saiyan just like he was. Does this mean Quash would be able to achieve something like that? Maybe he'd ask him about it after this was all said and done.
The adrenaline was rushing through his veins now, honored that Athren deemed him worthy of facing such power. No matter how much he tried to shit on him earlier, this is what it meant. Quash, despite coming from a group of saiyans that might've been weaker than previous generations, still got it. The last thing he wanted to do was run at a time like this. These were the kind of enemies that he wanted to fight! Not some random no name race from some random ass planet in the middle of nowhere.
"Oh, believe me, I'm more than ready to go. You have no idea how much I've been waiting to fight someone like you. I've been dying to fight someone like you for a long time. Back home, we don't get to fight people this powerful anymore. This is really, really refreshing. I almost want to thank you, to be honest. Let's see what this power of yours is really capable of."
Quash was currently trying to block everything else out. With this much of a power boost, it was likely Athren was about to move much faster and hit much harder than before. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to avoid his attacks anymore, hell even if he could he wasn't sure if there was any other power that he was hiding or not. Either way, there was no point in trying to play with hypotheticals such as this. Either way, the only thing he could do now is have faith in his own power. Besides, if he was going to lose this battle, the only acceptable loss would be one where he gave it his all.
With Athren's new power revealed, Quash was definitely going to stick to his defensive strategy. Not only would he get to see precisely what he was now dealing with, but he would be able to generally avoid critical injuries easier. It might be easier, and not easy, but the best way of going about something like this was to get as many things in your favor as humanly possible.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Come at me.”

Athren's power had now been unleashed and it had felt good as it pumped through his body, it was a transformation he was very adapted to and well versed in. This form had gotten him through plenty of brutal battles and usually, he had come out on top, it was a rarity to see this form struggle against an opponent. As he stood there watching his opponent, the words ringing through his ears, it had seemed that Quash still wanted Athren to be the aggressor and now, that would be so much easier. Along with the power level boost that would put Athren above Quash by double, it would also affect his speed. Combining speed and power? Well, t his fight wouldn't last very much longer at all. Athren suspected that there was absolutely no way Quash would have anything to handle this aside from throwing out his techniques again and again. Even if Quash did that though, they'd be so much easier to handle now that the gap in power was so different.
It was pretty obvious what his opponent had planned for this, he was going to stay on the defensive and try to take a crack at openings. Focus on not getting hit while getting in an attack when it was safe and practical, though Athren wasn't going to allow that to be so easy. The only option running through Athren's mind at the moment was a bombardment of power, never laying off the attack. He planned to put enough pressure on Quash that attacking would be incredibly difficult to do safely and even then, Athren was willing to exchange blows at this point, after all, he figured he'd be the harder-hitting one here.
Though the pause in the fight had been pretty brief, it had felt like it had gone on forever. The intensity of the rapid battle had been brought to a halt with little dialog and a breath taking transformation and those moments had felt like they had gone on forever, especially to a saiyan warrior whom got their adrenaline rush from the heat of battle, from the excitement of exchanging blows with an opponent but now it was time to get back to it, it was time to show Quash exactly what this demon could do and Athren intended on making this display about the power difference, the speed and everything in between. This wasn't going to be the same as before, this was going to be about complete dominance over the opponent to show them exactly how powerless they were in the face of such a threat. It was time to end this.
Athren wouldn't even speak back to Quash, the words he said not worthy of a verbal response. Athren's response would simply be through action and his bombardment was about to start! He wasn't going to be easy on this individual, he wasn't going to lighten up just because he had more of an edge, if anything it'd be the complete opposite. He was going to apply more devastating power and pressure than he did before, it was time to win.
He'd start by quickly forming his Nova cannon and tossing it towards his opponent in an under-armed style, the technique itself hovering along the ground and flying fast and rapid towards his opponent. When the attack had been thrown Athren had immediately taken to the attack, pressing off from his right foot and pushing himself towards the enemy. Given there wasn't much distance between them this time around Athren would get there quickly, especially with his newfound speed. Reaching his opponent Athren would have another attack launching towards Quash, this time it was once again his Nova Punch aimed towards his opponent's face but this was far from the end of his little chain of attacks, there would still be more.
Regardless of whether or not his techniques landed, Athren would be locked onto Quash. His eyes never leaving his opponent, After his Nova Punch would be thrown Athren would immediately follow up by bringing his left fist around, it was aimed at his opponents mid section, hoping to deal some damage to the stomach area and once that was sent, Athren would quickly light up his right hand again and throw yet another nova Punch towards Quash, this time it was the opposite side mid section. After that attack was launched Athren would throw his left fist towards his opponent's head once again, keeping on the hard pressure that he had been applying, he wasn't going to let it slip that easy.
For the final bit of attack, he'd use the pressure and range to his advantage. An orange orb of Ki would light up in his right hand once again as his Nova Cannon had quickly formed once more and from the close range and extreme pressure Athren would be demonstrating, he'd attempt to force it into Quashes chest to let him take the full damage, only then would he release it in an effort to send Quash flying backwards as far as the technique would take him.
It would be completely obvious that Athren was a little different of a fighter at this point, he wasn't being as tactical or fighting as smart. He was simply applying as much pressure as he could to cause some damage, though this wouldn't be his only plan. Of course, he'd fight smart when he needed too but for now this was a little more fun for him, being on such an offensive moveset was entertaining and he wanted to see his opponent hurt, injured. He wanted to see the effect of his attacks take their effect on his opponents body, see how he'd slow down due to damage, or breathe heavy after trying to catch his breath after doing his best to avoid damage. Either way, Athren had a hunch that Quash would get tired a lot quicker than Athren would and he'd use that to his advantage too.

There was barely any time to react.
WHAM!
The blow hit Quash hard, spit flying out of his mouth as he took the hit. Between that moment and the next hit felt like forever. He hadn't even seen Athren move, let get close enough to get a hit like that in. He had felt his opponent's energy spike, so he knew how much stronger he was, but to experience it was something else. He hadn't seen anyone move like that before, especially while maintaining such decisiveness, aggression, and precision. This was not good at all, if he didn't think of something soon he was going to be down for the count in no time! Maybe he could counterattack. Yeah, surely he could gather his bearings and-
WHAM!
An audible "crunch" came from the region of impact he was slammed right in the center of the face. Yeah, his nose was definitely broken after an attack like that. Everything momentarily went black, Quash's brain had barely even registered that hit. Did he... Did he blackout for a second? Where-Where was he? What was this strong taste in his mouth...blood? Why was there so much blood? You're not thinking straight Quash! You're still in a fight! Get it together before he strikes again! Hands up Quash! Hands-
WHAM!
"Gah!" Quash cried out in great pain as he was struck in his mid section, this time spitting out blood. He reacted too slowly again. He tried to get his mind centered back on the battle, but his body was prioritizing catching its breath. He could barely breathe after that third strike, and every time he went for a breath his stomach lit up in agonizing pain. He gritted his teeth, finally trying to move for a counterattack. His hand reached for the ground, maybe he could gain control of his momentum if he had just-wait, air? His body was in the air? Since when? Wait, how long has it been? Oh no, too long! The next attack is-
WHAM!
Quash was struck in the midsection again, another shot of pain even greater than the last. Crap, was that his liver? He couldn't tell. At this point, all of his senses were beginning to blend together into mush. He could hardly tell left from right, up from down, hell he didn't even know he was in the air a few moments ago. His vision was getting blurry, not good either. Kami almighty, was this gap between the old and new generation? He knew Vegeta fell from grace, but he didn't know the drop was this far! Quash had a lot to do if he was going to have the Saiyans be brought back to anything remotely to what they were bef-Wait, isn't he in a fight right now?

Quick! Hands u-
WHAM!
Fuckin' hell Quash, you're getting torn up out here! Quash...?
...
Quash.

Quash.
...
QUASH, WAKE UP!
The Captain's eyes quickly opened up. Man, he could've sworn he heard something calling out to him. For a moment, he actually thought he died. Quash quickly noticed that he could only see out of one eye. What happened? Surely Athren wouldn't have ripped his eye out right? He could still feel his eye, so at least that was a good sign. Athren... where was he? The front right? He could sense his energy there. Barely conscious, Quash had to constantly command himself to do what he wanted it to. Eyes front. Eyes front. Eyes...oh no. Athren was clearly charging a ki attack, and something told him it wasn't going to another bluff like he had been doing this whole time. Captain Quash had assumed Athren was mainly a close quarters kind of guy, but it turned out he had some ranged stuff too. Typical.
As Athren got closer, Quash realized that the plan was to get hit at point blank range. He had to stay conscious, an attack like that at point blank range might be enough to put him down for the count. He had to dig deep and yell to himself, his soul! Come on, hands...UP!
Finally managing to swing his arms up to his chest, he took the initial impact of the Nova Cannon. He gritted his teeth as he internally screamed at the additional damage his body was taking on. Quash wanted a fight, but his eyes were way bigger than his stomach this time. As the attack was unleashed, the saiyan armor he was wearing practically shattered like glass against the raw power of his foe. At first, Quash thought he was going to feel tremendous pain, but instead he felt...nothing. Nothing at all, in fact. He wasn't even sure if he was still in his body at this point.
If it wasn't for his sight, he wouldn't have even known he hit the ground. His body rolled across the plain, coming to a halt. Quash laid there a moment, barely able to move. It was at this moment that he realized it wasn't that his attack hadn't done anything. It was that his body had taken such a beating that his brain had basically decided to spare him the suffering of feeling all of that.
Quash had admittedly underestimated Athren. Still, he was glad he was able to fight someone on this level. This fight was instilling a hunger in him that he hadn't felt in a long time. He wanted to get stronger, a lot stronger. He wanted to get strong enough to the point where this energy he sensed felt like child's play. He wanted to be strong enough where he felt like he could take on the entire PTO by himself! He wanted to be delusionally strong. Where had he gone wrong where he felt like his hunger was almost satiated? The species that he felt like the Saiyans should be fighting were strong, but not like this. What else was he missing out on?
It looked like the attacks had stopped for now, either that or his brain was still moving in slow motion. He looked up, seeing Athren's feet in front of him. He was still on the ground, but he knew he could still move. And if he could still move, that meant he needed to get the hell up and keep going. As he went to get up to his feet, he slowly began to realize the beating he took. Overall, he felt like he weighed ten times heavier than normal. He could feel something moving in his body that wasn't supposed to, that was definitely going to hurt later. On the bright side, at least he figured out why he could only see out of one eye. His other eye was so swollen that it had covered his line of sight.
His armor was completely destroyed, exposing his bruised, bloodied, and battered skin and muscle from the waist up. The bridge of his nose was dented and distorted. Quash went to say something, but then he realized how heavy he was breathing. He was practically hyperventilating. This much disassociation from what was going on was definitely not a good sign. He struggled to focus his sight on what was in front of him, barely managing to make out Athren.
He gritted his teeth, starting to catch his breath and fighting to stay on his feet. Gathering his bearings, his brain began to allow him to start feeling some of the pain. Quash clutched the side of his stomach hit by the Nova Punch. Yep, his ribs were definitely not in good shape, to say the least. The Captain took a step forward, almost falling on his face in the process. He gathered ki in his right hand, allowing his Savoy Sword to form. He glared at his enemy with a wicked, bloody, toothy smile. Something primal had taken over. His saiyan nature beckoned to keep going. The fight had just started getting interesting, he couldn't stop now, right?
Is...Is that all? I ex...expected more, fr-from an old s-soldier."
He weakly got into his fighting stance once again. He taunted Athren, motioning for him to approach with his left hand.
"C-Come on then... enough wi-with these love taps!"

Now that Athren had fully embraced his demonic side, the fight was basically over. Quash had been taking all the hard and heavy hits and there didn't seem to be a damn thing he could do about it. In all honesty, Athren was pretty damn satisfied and the smirk on his face had grown even bigger than it was before, there was something about completely destroying an opponent in such a way that he was now that just brought him joy. Of course, this very well may have had to do with the fact that Quash had run his mouth before the fight and trying to be smart and had finally brought his words to a near stop. Though he was still chirping, the strain in his voice was enough to indicate that he would be completely silenced sooner, rather than later. Athren was amused, everything about Quash had changed now that Athren was able to lay this kind of a beat down on him, even his posture and his stance looked weak, all of Quash had looked weak and Athren couldn't help but keep on smirking.
After all the attacks Athren had launched upon Quash, he simply stood there and chuckled. He gave Quash his moment to speak and of course he kept trying to talk his smack but now it was coming from a different place, a place of defeat, a place where he was already beat down and nearly useless. Old Soldier? Love taps? Athren shook his head and chuckled again, dismissing all comments that were coming his way. Those love taps that Quash had claimed to be hit by sure were leaving their mark on him, they were weighing him down heavily at this point. Clearly, he was a talker right to the end.
Before Quash had spoke though, his sword had once again come out and Athren didn't even bother to move his body, his eyes didn't even shift towards the blade, he had simply stood there strong and proud as the wind crept the battlefield and ruffled his hair around lightly. The adrenaline pumping through his body was still high, the excitement still keeping him in the heat of battle but his confidence and power would now allow him to idle down and take a much slower approach. The damage had already been done, there was nothing Quash could do to come back from this and if he thought hit little sword technique would work now? Well, he'd just be crazy. It didn't work when both fighters were nearly on par, it wouldn't work now especially since the intention was displayed to use it. If anything, it just gave Athren more time to think about how to handle it on the approach, it gave him plans and a strategy to face it but this time, he'd make Quash come to him, for a guy who liked to talk so much he sure did like standing around instead of fighting.
Athren's posture straightened out and he even managed to cross his arms as he awaited some sort of attack, he was well aware that he'd have lots of time to shift his stance and get into a ready position before Quash would even close the gap between then. "You know for a guy that talks about expecting more and my hits being .. love taps, you do a lot of standing around doing nothing." Athren's shoulders would shrug ever so lightly now as he remained focused in on Quash. "I've gotta say, It'd be nice to have an opponent that actually fights, put their money where their mouth is."
It was actually rather entertaining to hear it, Quash was playing the defensive game for the last little bit instead of attacking yet he had the nerve to talk smack about expecting more? Like c'mon. "So, let's quit wasting time.." Athren had paused for all but a brief moment as he extended his right hand and curled his pointer finger in a fashioned to tell Quash to come at him. "Let's see what you plan to do with that little sword of yours."
It was at this point that Athren would cross his arms again and wait out his opponent, he didn't know what Quash was going to do but he did know that whatever it was would be slow and hindered due to his damaged body and mind. Given he wasn't at his maximum physical capacity, the rest of this little fight was going to be a cake walk. He figured he'd be able to do whatever he wanted to do and take his time doing so.
Athren had been rather comfortable with his knowledge on his opponent, he felt as if he saw the best moves and knew how to handle them all at this point. Whether it be the sword or the finger beam technique, Athren would have it handled. Athren didn't intend to let this fight carry on too much longer, he'd play around a little bit and hope Quash would make some attacks only to avoid them with ease and punish his efforts. He wanted to wear Quash out, mentally and physically before letting this come to an end. He wanted to break his opponent, he wanted to break his spirit and let the realization of just how outclassed he was set into his mind. For a saiyan that could be damaging, their pride could shatter, it could push them to a point where their drive to fight got crushed away and that would be worth this little game. Regardless of what happened next, Athren would be ready and prepared, awaiting Quash to make his move. He hoped it'd be soon, things were getting a little bit on the boring side and Athren had wanted something to happen fast. After all, they were at the end of a fight. What was the point of Quash stalling his defeat any longer? Maybe he just wanted a few last words to make himself feel better about his defeat.

From Quash's point of view, the world was starting to spin around him. His head had been rocked enough to where he had a difficult time just standing on his feet. The vision in his one eye was getting more and more hazy, almost like the world was set to 240p. His knees were beginning to shake, desperately clinging to the last bit of strength that they had left. His muscles were screaming at their host to give them some rest, wanting him to give up this pointless crusade. What was the point? Why keep fighting? Couldn't he see that it was already over?
Quash's ki flared up after listening to Athren, apparently still ready to give this another go. After hearing Athren taunting him, trying to goad him into attacking him with his Savoy Sword, he was more than ready to give him what he asked for. "Tch, alright..." He replied weakly, his Ki Sword beginning to glow brighter. It was clear that he was feeding it more power. It was likely that this was going to be the only chance he had to give him all he really had. It was imperative that he'd make it count. At the very least, he wanted to show him that despite him greatly lacking in power at the moment, he was still able to pack quite a punch.
His aura began to flare more violently, dust beginning to kick up around him. The wind in the area began to pick up, rustling the trees around them. Everything Quash had was going into this one. As he charged his attack, he put his attention back to Athren, grinning. "You know... for all that power, I can't help, agh, but notice... that I'm still standing. Tch, what's the matter? After all, I'm just "standing here doing nothing"."
Quash's bloody grin grew wider.
"It looks like... your little power up... isn't as powerful as you think it is. What was it... that you said before? That you'd "shut me up yourself"? It's rude to keep people waiting, you know." He kept going, taking brief pauses as he spoke to catch his breath.
"You want to see what I've got...? Well... don't you worry. You'll see soon enough!"
Quash kept telling himself that he'd keep getting up, no matter how many times he'd get put down. He had to. He wanted to show Athren that he wasn't all that. He may be fighting a losing battle, but he wasn't planning on throwing the towel in any capacity! He'd figure out a way to win, no matter what! He had to!
Quash didn't even care about being questioned at this point, now it was about principle. His adrenaline started to pump again as he forced his body to keep working, the shakiness in his knee beginning to slow to a halt. His aura was starting to increase in size at an increasingly fast rate. Come on Quash, you can take him. If you can stand, you can fight!

Athren's aura had continued to flare around his body, the sound it made could very well have been haunting to his enemies. It was a unique sound, one that indicated complete power and dominance, it was surely something else. Athren had continued to stand there, tall and proud of what he was capable of. Though he had used this form a thousand times, it was something that still managed to excite and surprise him and in this case, it clearly surprised his enemies. As Athren stood there waiting, he listened to Quash rumble off some more words, though none of them would hit any kind of mark with him. After all, Athren just proved to Quash that he was basically all just talk, he couldn't back up a single thing he had said previously. Athren had been right, there was nothing on this planet that was there to help Quash, he had no friends, no allies and nobody to save him from this situation that he got himself into, yet the man still continued to run his mouth. Didn't he see that he was beaten? That fighting at this point wouldn't bring the desired outcome for him? Or maybe, maybe he was just stupid. Either way, Athren had felt like this was about to come to a solid conclusion.
Though before it came to the end, Athren couldn't resist giving in to a little more of the banter. More or so to play with Quash just a little bit longer. Athren had beaten Qaushes body, but his mind was still open for attack. Athren wanted to throw him off his game in every single way and show off just how superior he was to the Captain. "Trust me, I've noticed that you're still standing. Barely, if anything." Athren's shoulders shrugged as he couldn't help but smirk. "And I've also noticed that you're much too afraid to attack, I guess my overwhelming power is just too much for you to handle, huh?"
As Quash had kept on running his mouth, he couldn't help but bring up the point about being shut up. "This fight is already over, in fact you're not even worth any more time. Whether I leave right now or decide to finish you off, the outcome is the same. You've lost, and you couldn't back up anything you said earlier. You just don't shut up because you're too stupid to realize it, it's over." Though Athren wouldn't usually do it, he was almost tempted to leave the situation as it was right now. After all, it was in fact over. Quash wasn't a worthy opponent, he couldn't keep up or deliver on his words, there was nothing else to gain from this. Athren delivered on his words and that's all that really mattered by the end of it all.
Even though he had been speaking and seemed rather relaxed, Athren had maintained focus on the situation. He was watching for any signs of movement from his opponent, down to the very simple twitch of a muscle. He wanted to be prepared for whenever that sword was coming his way. It wouldn't be difficult to deal with but he did want to be ready, he wanted to shut it down and inflicted some more damage, though this was truly Quashes last shot, his opportunity to strike. He was playing the clock and trying to stall in order to charge enough energy into his attack, Athren wasn't stupid and it was rather obvious, especially considering he brought out the sword that early. If he wasn't going to attack often, at least he'd attack with something on the powerful side, another opportunity for Athren to show exactly how superior he was.
"I'll tell you this, this attack you've been prepping for me.. It's your last chance. So make it count." Athren had left it open for Quash to make his move, whether he actually would or not was something that was rather debatable. So far Quash had displayed a very defensive fighting style, he wasn't the aggressor and focused more on counters. Athren was about to force him out of his comfort zone. If Quash didn't move soon though, Athren was probably going to leave him there defeated. For a saiyan, that would be an insult all on it's own, not even being worthy of having the fight finished? Athren knew that when he was a little younger, that would have pissed him off extremely, it would have made him feel insignificant, irrelevant, and weak. These days? Well, it wouldn't much matter. He had bigger and more important things to worry about now, such as his kids, his faction, and his responsibilities.
Though Athren had his doubts about what his opponent's next move would be, he knew he'd have his answer soon. All he had to do was wait it out just a little bit longer and he'd know exactly what kind of saiyan Quash was. Was he going to be a coward and hide behind his defensive plays or was he actually going to step out and try to make a move to shift this into his favor? It was something Athren couldn't know, but it was something he was looking forward to seeing. Either way, he knew he'd be fine as he still hadn't even tapped into what he was truly capable of. He still had a lot more to dish out and he could take even more than that. Athren had still been fresh in this fight with little damage taken and lots of energy left, he was good to go.
All that was left was to wait and see and it truly was now or never, he was fighting under his own terms and nobody else's. He was in control here, he was the lead role and both of them had to have known it. The fight had started like that, it was going to end like that. That's just how simple this situation really was. Regardless of whether Quash had realized it or not.

Quash's aura flared more violently as a response to Athren's words. Enough of the high and mighty talk, enough of all this complaining about how "oh so weak he was". As long as he could still draw a breath, he wouldn't quit. His blade grew even brighter now and got slightly larger, as he was getting ready to finish the fight with one hailmary attack! He focused more and more of his power into his energy blade, trying to gather as much as he could muster. If Athren thought he was better just because he did a color swap, he was going to be sorely mistaken.
"You know, after all that talk... I better not see you...Dodge this!" Quash wanted to have a direct confrontation with his opponent. He wanted to match his might against his! Who was the real saiyan here! From the PTO to the USD, everyone disrespected the Saiyans. And now, even if his own kind from foreign lands were looking down on him too. It was time to try to put some respect on the Saiyan Army name. All this work he had done, all the training, and all the blood, sweat, tears... it couldn't have all been for nothing, right? He refused to believe it!
"Alright, Athren... You wanted it! Then TAKE IT!" Quash flew forward at full speed, forcing himself to remain in a straight line as his body already wanted to keel over from such an exaggerated motion. As he closed the distance, he stared at him right in the eyes. Maybe his opponent was right, maybe he would lose, but this wasn't something he was about to accept. If he was going to go down, it was going to be with honor! It was time to put his pride on the line!
As he approached Athren, he launched his attack straight at his chest with a loud battle cry. This was the wall, and he was going to climb over it! All or nothing! "Let's see if you can even stand up to this one! HAAAA!" He shouted, showing his true warrior spirit. He really hoped Athren would face his attack head on, because Quash wanted to truly put his own power against his. He knew he was the weaker opponent here in terms of raw power, he wasn't an idiot. Still, what was truly the gap between them?

It had seemed as if Athren's words were finally hitting their mark and getting Quash to show evidence of that, the more Athren spoke the more Quashes aura flared up around him, it displayed all the emotions that Quash was feeling at this point, or at least that's how Athren had taken it. He assumed it to be rage, doubt, and his saiyan pride. Athren assumed that the one thing keeping Quash on his feet at this moment was his saiyan pride. A Saiyan's pride could very well push them past their limits, beyond what a saiyan would even begin to dream was possible. He was sure that this had wrapped itself around Quash and drove him to this point, pushing him to stand against a foe that had seemed all too powerful to defeat. It wasn't new to Athren, that very same pride had gotten him through some situations and now it was going up against him but the simple truth was, pride wasn't enough to get Quash through this, no matter how deep he had decided to dig, or how determined he was to win. This fight was over.
Quash had run his mouth even more and even though it was very much expected, it wasn't actually stale this time. Instead of just talking irrelevant shit, he had issued a challenge and Athren was more than happy to accept this one. "Don't worry, I've got no intentions of dodging." At this point, Athren's stance had shifted ever so slightly, positioning himself more forward of Quash. It was almost like Athren was welcoming this attack, exposing more of his body as the thrill of the challenge had forced the blood to pump throughout his body a little faster, a little more rapid. The excitement he had felt at the beginning was now back in full force.
Athren waited what had seemed like forever for this attack to come his way and finally Quash had given him a verbal warning that it was about to be on the way and Athren couldn't have been more excited. His stance was strong and he was determined, there was no way he was going to let Quash land this blow, not a single chance in hell. When Quash had finally flown forwards toward him, Athren prepared himself further, it had felt like time had slowed down and it was instantly that he reacted. Athren had lit up his right hand with his energy again, he fully intended on meeting Quashes technique with his own, though he planned on cutting through the sword, overpowering it, and following through with the same attack to cause some MASSIVE damage. Whether or not it would go according to plan would be a different story, but that was the choice he was going to make, this is what he was going to go with. Nothing would change his mind now.
Before Quash had reached him Athren would step off with his right foot and rush forward, he would press his attacker with equal speed and meet him somewhere in the gap that once existed between the two. Athren would UNLEASH every ounce of power he had to amplify his Nova punch, he put every ounce of spare energy into it and all of his being, he was hoping that this one attack would be the final blow and finally shut quash up for good. When Athren had met Quash in the middle, he swung his right fist straight towards the sword that was incoming and his attack would naturally cut through his Ki like butter, there was little to no resistance, Athren's attack was just that much stronger. The way he threw it was strategic too, it was meant to cut through the blade first and render it useless and then curve up to crash into Quashes face! Athren had hoped this had worked, he was betting on it.
If this attack had actually managed to collide with Quashes face, the impact should have been great enough to send him right back to where he was previously, if not further. Athren had harnessed the full power of his demon side in an effort to triumph over the attack that was coming his way and deal a solid amount of damage, he was basically done with this fight, he was nearly checked out mentally. The only reason he had even gotten a little more of a rush from this was the verbal challenge that Quash had issued, even from being in the losing spot, he had still managed to run his mouth and challenge Athren to stand his ground, it was almost like Quash was ignoring the circumstances, the complete difference in strength and the fact that Athren had been winning this fight by a landslide, yet he offered a challenge.
Hopefully the challenge had been met, hopefully, this last blow was enough to render Quash useless on the ground. He didn't care about knocking him out, only making him temporarily unable to fight back. That is where he'd truly be satisfied, even if the fight had already been won. Even if Quash truly had no chance to come back from this or cause damage, Athren had a certain amount of standards to actually be pleased with the outcome. Victory wasn't always a victory to him, he was complex like that and he often carried around with him a specific code of honor, one that came out in situations like this. Even if he did talk smack about his opponent, doubt him and straight up tell him that he was a fool, it was a one on one fight between two saiyans and at the end of the day, just being stronger wasn't enough. Maybe Quash would understand that, or maybe he wouldn't. It didn't really matter, but Athren had a feeling that Quash would understand it all if he couldn't fight any longer. Either way, Athren was pretty done with this whole interaction. The challenge was met and he was through.

Quash's attack meant nothing to Athren.
His already broken nose got even worse as his opponent's Nova Punch hit him once again. His body was flung back, flying passed where he was initially standing in the first place. His body rolled on the ground for a little more before coming to a halt. His body was motionless as he lay there, but it was obvious he was still alive. His energy was weak and his aura was long gone. Quash tried to get up again, but even so much as a twitch of his finger managed to light up his whole body. His muscles were once again begging him to stop, this time forcing him to. They were done, and now the Captain had realized it too.
Physical pain wasn't the only thing that was damaged now. His pride had taken a huge hit, as this loss had more or less confirmed everything Athren had been saying. He was very reluctant to accept defeat, as he wanted to stand right back up and prove him wrong again, but he had no other option. He couldn't even speak at this point, let alone take another hit. Still, despite taking such a crushing loss, he was still happy at the same time. After all, he had gotten the opportunity to fight a strong opponent. Now, he knew what his weaknesses were, and what he had to do to get better.
If there was anything that he was shown here, is that the sky was the limit.
Tch, enjoy this victory while you can. Next time I promise it won't be so easy.

Though the fight was finally over, Athren's pride didn't really spike up. He wasn't proud or overly excited about his victory. Though he was grateful that he managed to back up his words. He had warned Quash immediately of what would happen, about how nobody could save him from the demon saiyan, that he'd have no help or any friends to get the job done. He was alone, and Quash didn't have the strength alone to meet the challenge. Though now that he was on his back and laid out flat, the realization must have finally come to the pure saiyan, the realization that Athren was right all along and that he had more than enough power within him to finish the fight ten times over.
Athren had found himself rather pleased with the outcome of his attack, it had come together just as he had planned. His Nova Punch had cut through the technique of Quash like butter, with little resistance before it broke through, only to collide with his enemies already battered face. The blow had been delivered with expertise and Quash had found himself pushed back and knocked down with a loud thump. It was the moment that both fighters knew that this little battle had come to an end. Athren had seen it himself, the saiyan pride that had kept Quash determined and ready to keep fighting had faded from him, the desire to win had left his body as he was faced with a seemingly unbeatable opponent. Though Athren would have to acknowledge, he rose to his feet in attempt to beat somebody much greater than him. He was a true saiyan to the core and it was a respectable feat, even if he was foolish from the start.
Though Athren would also have to admit, he liked Quash a lot better now that he hadn't been running his mouth. There was a peacefulness brought by his silence, a serenity to Athren's ears no longer being attacked by the words of his opponent. It was the nicest reward from this victory, it was the highlighted one, the best one. Though as Athren had stood there strong and tall, his eyes had glared upon his defeated opponent and it was finally at that time that Athren slowly made his way over, step by step, he closed the distanced between the two of them. When Athren had finally got to Quash his transformation would have vanished, his aura fading and his power level would have decreased once again, bringing him back to his base power level.
It was at this point that Athren would lower himself to a crouch beside Quash and speak, though his tone would rather be calm and collected. There had been not a single sign of hostility or anger in his voice. "It doesn't always have to be like this." Athren paused for a moment as he went off to set the bait so he could exploit Quash and use him as a tool for his own benefit. "Orange City, May Sixteenth. Meet me there at nightfall. We'll talk. Just leave your attitude here, yeah?" Whether or not Quash would accept the offer didn't really much matter, Athren had a plan and it didn't need to incorporate this saiyan, or anybody else besides himself. He'd handle it on his own if he had too, nothing was going to stop him from wiping out the USD base from the Earth. It was his end game, the goal for retirement, the one thing he needed to stop living the life he did and live a calmer, more peaceful one.
With that being said Athren stood up tall once more, ready to take his leave and blast off back home. He had a small wound to take care of, though it was small, it wouldn't stop bleeding. It was at this point Athren's right hand pressed against the wound for all but a second before lifting it for his ocean blue eyes to see the blood on his hand. "And maybe you'll rest easier, knowing you manage to get one decent blow in." This here was all the show of respect Quash would get, there would be nothing more for him from Athren. It was a miracle he was even getting that amount.
It was at this moment that Athren's ocean blue eyes rose up to the sky, scanning around as the clouds had passed them by. Thinking of how different his life was going to be soon, one more job and it'd be completely different, it wouldn't resemble his current life in the slightest and that was something he couldn't wait for. Even though moments like this would fade, the moments that got him excited and eager, ready to duke it out until he or his opponent dropped, he thought that it was a fair trade, one he'd made any single day for his kids, over and over again. There was nothing he wouldn't do for them, it was unlike a saiyan but then again, he wasn't just all saiyan.
"Maybe we'll meet again soon, who knows." It was at this point that he lifted himself up off the ground, only to look down at Quash one more time. Athren figured they'd cross paths again, whether it be on the sixteenth of May or at a later date, the universe had a strange way of working, a way that Athren didn't know how to explain. There was no certainty on their futures, but it was a confident guess that something would unite them again, they were both saiyan's after all and the Earth was only so big, it was nothing more than a matter of time. Whether the circumstances be good or bad, whether they met again as rivals, enemies or allies, fate would decide it all. There was so much out of their control that one could never be so sure, they'd have to leave it up to time and circumstances, and that's all there was left. Finally, Athren rose up and blasted off into the air.
