Day as any other. At this hour Ayu was after a reading session and at least two times she visited the Pendulum Room for some very uncomfortable training sessions. Dende was quietly reading in his chambers. Mr. Popo tended to plants on the Lookout, from time to time gazing at the sky above them. Cress and Celric decided that it was best to swing around the temple on some leftover vines Ayu used lately and after making them help with cleaning, it was already this time of the day. Telling the siblings that they should quiet down before supper, she was glad that Mr. Popo volunteered to read to them. It would make things easier to make them busy and less chaotic. Leaving the three of them in their room while listening for a while to elf reading one of the classic Earth's fairytales, Ayu smiled a bit. Day as any, right?
Walking up the stairs she entered the highest level of the Lookout - the wide, circular space adored by plants, a delicate temple, and an amazing view. It was empty today. How convenient...
Ayu stopped by the edge, looking at the world quietly. Feeling the breeze playing with her hair, she raised her head to look ahead, further and further away. The view from the Lookout was the most unique thing she ever witnessed, every time she gazed over the horizon it gave her the same captivating feeling. The uneven line of the planet, with mountains, silver lines of rivers, blue oceans, and sky above... The evening sun painted this side of the world in a golden warm hue. Shine reflected by her opalescent eyes turned pale, melancholic. Scarce clouds above were lit by the very same light, turning into vibrant shades of orange. It was a warm evening. On the opposite side, the line of the horizon started to darken, yet it still was a long way before the night would spread and stars would start watching over the Earth.
Everything... Seemed so eerily quiet. Peaceful to a fault. The sound of wind, the murmur of water, the nature she felt deep down on the surface... The world itself was calm, in an indescribable way awaiting the moment that would break the silence. People's hearts were one thing, the pulse of the planet seemed to hold its breath and stay in a gentle suspense. Waiting for what the future will hold. Namek was no more, Vegeta had fallen victim to the cruel ambition of one person. And the same presence, sinister and ice cold, was making their way here - to the blue planet. Toward Ayu's home.
The calmness was betraying the heavy expectations that were weighing above everyone who called themselves the Earth's defenders. Because it was going to be the very moment to put everything on the line. Their life, future, and the fate of this planet.
With an even heavier heart, Ayu closed her eyes. There was nothing she could think of that could bring comfort or a ray of hope to the rugged warriors, still training and pushing their limits. And her presence... Her words could cause unnecessary expectations or obligations that she wished not to burden anyone with. There were way more than enough things to deal with as is. As much as she might have missed those dear to her, it was better this way. They shouldn't be held back by her tears. Her sadness will not add to the guilt of fulfilling their duties. They can't concern themselves with how would she feel when they go to the battlefield. They shouldn't concern themselves with her at all. Simply it would be best... If she meant less and less to them. Even if she cared and loved, it wasn't bringing anyone strength or comfort - it wasn't better than doing nothing. With the emotional nuisance she has become, Ayu couldn't wish for anything else but for herself to stay in the shadows. Out of everyone's way... Because what good could a tearful, overly sensitive mess of a person do, the one that needed only to be comforted, in return only burdening those around?
In a way, it was a blessing that for weeks... Months even, no one ever visited. They were too busy training and let it stay this way. There wasn't anything much to do with her around anyway.
A deep sigh raised her chest but Ayu could feel herself smiling. A faint, melancholic, and slightly bitter smile curled the corners of her lips softly before it faded away. She turned away from the edge, walking toward the temple unhurriedly as if the weight on her chest was slowing her down.
It was the time to start thinking about training and finishing today's duties as Junior Guardian.
The routine was slowly sinking in.

Opherla had ditched her weighted clothing after her last endeavor, now wearing her normal red jacket again instead of the weighted one. She had no need for the weights anymore, as she could feel they did nothing for her training, and were a burden more than a help to her in this moment. Opherla was flying her way over to the Lookout, with high hopes of utilizing the Hyperbolic Time Chamber that Volda and Basireous mentioned, as she was hoping that she could at least get access after talking to the people on the Lookout. She knew Liek was coming as well, since Opherla knew that was something that Liek himself wanted to do, was to utilize the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
As Opherla approached the Lookout, she saw the green skinned woman who was looking out across the horizon, as Opherla suddenly recognized her. That seemed to be the woman that was at South City, and used her plants to help people escape! Opherla couldn't help but notice the fact she seemed to be walking at a slow pace... she wondered if the woman was okay. If not physically weighed down, perhaps she was emotionally weighed down, and Opherla didn't like to see that. She soon descended down onto the Lookout, looking around a bit before approaching the woman. She even had plushies in hand for a moment like this, as she approached the green skinned woman with a warm smile.
"Hello there!" Opherla greeted with a bright smile and a cheerful grin. "How are you? Do you remember me from South City? If you don't, I understand. It's been so long ago." Opherla chuckled sweetly before she happily extended a hand of greeting. "My name is Opherla! What's yours, ma'am?" Opherla asked, with hopes that she and this green skinned woman could get off to a very friendly start, and become very good friends with one another.

Things aboard the Gau-la-Furia had been rather busy since the Saiyan refugees had been taken aboard. In all less then twenty thousand had headed the Queens warning and made the journey to seek refuge aboard the Arcship. But that wasn’t to say they where the only Saiyan’s left, others had chosen to land on Earth and forge their own path while still others had scattered to distant stars, far from the reach of threats like Arctic. Of those who had taken up residence on the arcship Rutaba and most of his group, save one, had decided to go into stasis rather then accept Liek’s authority. Not without challenging him one last time, this time Rutaba attempted his ‘ultimate technique’ the ‘Rutabannhilator’ in an attempt to overthrow the boy, but was quickly put in his place.
Only the female member of Rutaba’s squad had chosen to remain outside of the stasis pods during their stay, and going by the way she kept looking at Liek he was starting to suspect she had less then pure intentions. The other Saiyans, almost entirely low class with a number of middle class with familial ties to those low classes, had made rapid headway in remodelling the interior of the Central Disk to their needs. Initial plans to expand the main training hall had been scraped over integrity concerns, but housing was rapidly set up among the decks along with communal eating halls. Secondary training halls where also well under way so the Saiyans could stretch their legs without needing to leave the ship.
Cauri was also proving to be a fast study, in the short time she had been his student she had already doubled her power level. While she was struggling to grasp the intricacies of Energy Materialisation she had managed to form a tiny crystal and maintain it for a few seconds. Not as quickly as Opherla had taken to the technique, but it was a respectable start given her young age. Liek had full faith that by the time it came to confront Arctic she would have gotten her skill advanced enough to control the Gau-la-Furia and take it far enough from Earth to keep it safe from harm.
Along with dealing with the Saiyan refugees Liek had gone to pay Master Roshi another visit to learn more about the Ancient Lookout that was home to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. With the information he’d learned the boy had decided that simply dropping in would be the height of rudeness for a newly appointed Prince. Instead he’d consulted with the Gau-la-Furia’s computer and selected two items to serve as appropriate gifts. After carefully packing these items he’d set out from the ship and followed the directions he’d been given, first flying to Korin’s Forest, finding the base of the tower and just flying up from there.
As he approached he sense Opherla had arrived before him and smiled, it was always a good day when she was around. Reaching edge of the Lookout the boy flew over to his girlfriend and landed next to her, giving her a kiss on the cheek as he did so, blushing slightly. He then turned to the green woman, which was odd, but he was a half-Saiyan, half-Demon raised as a Fury, who was he to judge? With a friendly smile he bowed politely and greeted, “It’s an honour to meet you, honoured one. I am Liek Galswith, and as Prince of the Holy Fury Empire I come bearing gifts for the residents of this Lookout.” He then set down the first of those gifts, a plant.
Not just any plant, a sprouting tea tree native to the Fury homeworld. Which, being from a destroyed world, made it exceptionally rare.
The second gift was strapped to his back and wrapped in cloth to protect it from the elements. It was quite large and rectangular, more then likely a painting of some kind.

Post by Ayu on Jan 2, 2024 18:04:03 GMT -5
It was so long since Ayu saw a face different than Lookout's dwellers, that when she sensed a foreign energy she froze midstep for a split second. The feelings that resurfaced in her heart were a mosaic of anxiety and uneasiness, shy hope that she tried to extinguish... And weariness. Her own emotions were weighing heavy on her but it was to be expected. It wasn't easy to kill the longing or the loneliness but she was trying hard to get rid of them and right now, facing unknown visitors she knew she would have to hold her ground. At least inside her own mind.
Turning around to face the approaching stranger, Ayu discovered that she had seen her before. A young woman, taller than her, fit and confident, with fluffy ears, a tail, and a beaming smile. Something about her was too familiar, was it a cheerful manner of speech or energetic gestures or her voice... Ayu realized she knew her suddenly, her memories falling into place - Opherla was the one who helped her gather civilians while the warriors were raging around South City. As long ago as it was, Ayu didn't forget her face or name.
"I-I remember you," she replied carefully with a soft voice. Ayu's melancholic, distant gaze mellowed into a grateful and warm look that not without a reason appeared in her eyes. "I never had a chance before to thank you for your aid in rescuing civilians back then... Thank you for your hard work, Opherla," reaching out, she embraced her hand with both of hers, holding it warmly as both a greeting and a display of gratitude. The fact that she and Serena threw themselves to assist her in that very dangerous task spoke volumes of their resolve. If it weren't for them, Ayu might have never been able to create that bridge so innocent people could evacuate from the island. Indeed it was a long time ago and there were moments when it felt like the South City case happened in a different lifetime.
Letting go of Opherla's hand, Ayu rested her gaze on her face for a second... Yes, it was her. Now she was reminded of her cheerful and energetic attitude, of the focus she had back then. It wasn't something that they had in common, as she only could remember her own tears and hopelessness... But she could sense that they both, at least, shared a genuine and honest energy. Though it might have been a bit ironic to spot this right now as Ayu was trying her best to bury her every feeling deep down at the bottom of her heart.
She wasn't good at it though.
"Ayu," she reminded her with a gentle, albeit still sad smile.
The next guest was someone she only knew from afar. Ayu spotted the brown-haired young man training with Opherla and Callion on some occasions while she was looking at what was happening on Earth. Also tall, with a messy haircut and blue eyes, he had a serious and focused albeit cordial expression on his face. Both of her visitors seemed to know each other well... Perhaps really well. When he exchanged a small and fond greeting with Opherla, Ayu looked to the side bashfully while stroking her slightly blushed cheek, hoping that her presence didn't inconvenience them in any way. On the other hand, most people weren't as shy in front of others as she so it was a needless worry...
Anyway, he walked up to her to introduce himself right after. Liek was so polite it made her a little uneasy and a faint pink blush flushed her face again. She didn't really want to get shy again... It took a lot of self-control to not create a tree to hide behind it but Ayu should have grown up already from that habit. Honored... For some reason it prickled her heart - there's no way meeting her could be an honor of any kind. The warrior must have mistaken her for a Guardian when she was merely a disciple. Was it right for her to greet a prince or should she ask Dende to officially meet them..? She heard about the Holy Fury Empire before. Would it be impolite to leave to tell the Guardian about visitors? Though he most likely already knew. Well, common courtesy never hurt anyone...
"P-Please, there's no need to be s-so formal," Ayu raised her hands with a shy smile, sensing the heat on her cheeks. Interacting with strangers wasn't her thing, not at all. She joined her hands to stop her fingers from fidgeting. "I hope I am not b-being rude but as much as I appreciate your greeting, I am not the master of this place." She lowered her gaze. "I am Guardian's disciple, m-my name is Ayu," she explained carefully with a gentle tone. Opherla's greeting was more casual and relaxed while Liek's approach was very official. Perhaps that meant they knew about the Lookout and came here seeking something in particular... In that case, she wasn't the one they were looking for. "Right now my teacher is busy, so I welcome you in his stead," she smiled warmly, though still bashfully.
She was quietly planning to ask them for the reason for their arrival, so she could pass it to Dende, knowing he was more capable of helping them... But a gift caught her off guard. A present, a peace offering of some kind. And to make things more unusual - it was for her.
Ayu carefully took the gift from Liek's hands, bowing gratefully her head as she did so. Raising the offering closer to her face, she gazed at it with the look in her eyes changing to a tender one. The previous anxiety almost melted when her attention was caught by this tiny source of life. She wasn't aware that a soft, affectionate smile appeared on her face.
It was rare for her, a person connected to plant life of every kind, to get a piece of flora as a gift - people usually assumed she had an abundance of those - but she was genuinely going to treasure it. Especially something as rare and precious as this. It was a sprout, barely a sapling cozily hidden in an elegant pot among soft, warm soil - something already told her it was special. Ayu could feel its delicate stem, thin young leaves, the plant whispering to her a tale of a different air and heavier soil. There was unusual vitality in every cell she sensed... Something she didn't feel here on Earth. It didn't take her long to realize that the plant wasn't from this side of the universe. The tip of Ayu's finger gently brushed against the fragile, fragrant leaf... No energy was used, her presence was enough. With a delicate smile, she watched the sapling move, sprouting two new pairs of leaves and wrapping itself around her finger. It was safe to say that this little life liked her in return as much as she started to adore it herself.
"I'm going to treasure this," she told him softly with an honest thankfulness in her voice. Cradling the small pot against her chest, she raised her gaze again to the visitors. Ayu smiled lightly but the expression on her face soon changed to a more melancholic, reflective one. "I apologize f-for being so direct..." She closed her eyes for a second to gather her composure. "Not many people know about this place and as you can expect, we don't have many guests." Ayu doubted they were here for a cup of tea or her company. Even so, there were far more important things to do right now - and as soon as they had their questions answered, they should leave. It would be for the best to stay away from her... "Is there anything I can help you with?" The gift and friendliness were trying to weaken her resolve but Ayu couldn't simply get involved more than necessary. She should always stay as the neutral party, met only with indifference among the warriors who were already burdened so much. It was only fair.

Opherla was seeing an awful trend as of lately with most people she met. This constant trend of being a massive slew of negative emotions. Anxious. Fearful. Irritable. Stressed. Opherla had seen that in Callion, and did her absolute best to try and help him. She had seen it in Zaks, and tried her best to help her as well, and now, before her eyes, it was affecting Ayu, who seemed like the kind of person that you wouldn't take as being worried about anything, and yet here she was in a mood just like everyone else... Opherla was starting to wonder just how long it would be until everyone would be a-okay again, even after they defeated Arctic. She wanted to help Ayu, but there was a problem with that. For Callion and Zaks, Opherla was familiar with them. She had ideas on how she could try and cheer them up, and had used those ideas to help try and steer them from their more distressed moods. In the case of Ayu, Opherla didn't know much anything about her other than being, well, in her eyes, a badass plant lady! She didn't know much about her personality, her likes, her dislikes, none of that. So trying to get her out of this stupor was going to be a challenge in the eyes of the wolf Saiyan.
However, her worries faded away once she felt a familiar power level approaching, as she smiled upon recognizing who it was, as her heart fluttered and happily jumped for joy as she felt Liek coming towards the Lookout, her heart warming upon Liek dropping down and approaching them, as he even stopped by Opherla and kissed her on the cheek, as she giggled and returned the favor to the man she loved, before she watched him introduce himself to Ayu, and then he gave her a gift, a nice little plant. And Ayu seemed to love it! Of course, her anxiety returned, but Opherla had an idea now on what she could possibly do to help Ayu's mood.
Reaching into her jacket, Opherla pulled out a little cutie cat plushie. It was a simple round green cat plushie, but maybe it would bring some comfort to Ayu's heart. Opherla would soon hand the little plush to Ayu.
"I have a gift for you as well, Ayu. Here." Opherla smiled as she handed Ayu the cat plushie, smiling brightly as she did so, hoping the cat plushie would put a smile on Ayu's face, and keep it there for a bit longer of a time. Ayu would apologize to the duo for being so direct, as Opherla shook her head and smiled. "No, no, it's okay. I understand that us visiting here might be odd." Opherla smiled before Ayu would then ask them what she could do for them. Opherla hoped that her answer wouldn't cause Ayu more distress, but she needed to be truthful about the real reason why she and Liek were both here, as Opherla held her soft gaze, though her tone became slightly more serious.
"We're here because we wanted to ask about using the Hyperbolic Time Chamber." Opherla spoke with an honest tone. "We need to get stronger ourselves, in preparation for what is to come, which I'm sure you know about. So we were hoping that we might come here and be granted access to the Time Chamber so I can become stronger, as well as my lover here." Opherla stated, gesturing to Liek as it was the entire truth. While Opherla would love a tour of the Lookout any usual day of the week, this wasn't "any usual day of the week." This was a time sensitive situation. Arctic, for all Opherla knew, could be plotting away on Earth, and Opherla wasn't sure if, even combined, everyone would be strong enough to stop him. She hoped that they were... but until she knew for certain, she had to train. Everyone had to train, and train hard.

“Ayu? That’s such a pretty name!” Liek complimented, it would seem his experiences with Opherla had helped the boy immensely when it came to his manner towards females in general. No longer was he the awkward mess who felt intimidated simply being in the presence of woman around his own age. His smile widened as he added, “A fitting name for such a pretty woman!”
In all honesty, the boy hadn’t expected to meet the young woman here at all. When he’d spoken to Roshi he’d been informed of two residents who lived on the Lookout. A Genie who acted as groundskeeper and attendant for the Guardian named Popo, and the Guardian himself, a green man named Dende. The tea plant had originally been for Popo, but letting Ayu have it, who was apparently the student of Dende, was a perfectly reasonable idea to Liek. Fostering good relations with the future Guardian could only be a good idea.
The painting on his back was still being presented to the Guardian though, when the time was right.
The boy smirked at her questioning why they would be here and jokingly replied, “I can understand you asking that, this place is pretty out of the way and not exactly a tourist destination.” He then remained silent as Opherla gave the full rundown of why they where there, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Once she was done he spoke up to offer additional context, “The Turtle Hermit, Master Roshi, told us about the Chamber and how it was once used to prepare Earth’s protectors for great threats.” Which Arctic undoubtedly could be considered.
That said, Liek wasn’t entirely convinced that the Earth was in danger of being destroyed. Arctic was the leader of the PTO, an organisation motivated as much by the flow of money as it was power. From that perspective taking the Earth over, but leaving the social, economic and cultural potential intact, was a far more logical step for the tyrant to take. Earth products where popular even in the depths of space, by adding Earth to his empire he could tear down the red tape on trade and remove tariffs, leading to economic growth both on his worlds and Earth.

Post by Ayu on Jan 5, 2024 16:17:09 GMT -5
As time passed, Ayu was slowly getting used to the responsibilities she had to take care of. After all, she was a Junior Guardian. The pressure in her body that came alongside mismatched great power and a defective half-artificial body wasn't anything new either. She just wasn't made that well, that's all... Technically, she shouldn't be alive, though it wasn't something easy to say. Sense of loneliness, of longing that she struggled to kill inside, was like poison. In her eyes, she was a very flawed being, both inside and outside. The suffocating awareness of burdening people was the worst, she knew it all too well at this point. It would be hard to surprise her with anything, with a solemn and gentle disposition she was going to do what she had to...
Even with all this, even with everything she has gone through - Ayu still wasn't used to compliments. Like at all.
At Liek's remark that her name was pretty, she could feel a faint blush and smiled a little in response, though... Back then, when Liari hadn't eaten all those people, she used to tell Ayu that she was a pretty older sister. It was long ago, anyway, and her heart hurt when she thought about it. Terra and Cress, even Celric that one time said something similar - but they were kids. Their words were honest and full of meaning, yet their description was akin to speaking about the sky or a lovely flower. Ayu wasn't at all used to hearing someone else calling her pretty or to top that, calling her a pretty woman. Never. No, not with a genuine, friendly smile to that. It was obvious as to why her cheeks flushed a very intense raspberry-pink color, burning her skin so much. Avoiding their eyes, she raised the pot with a tea tree sprout that influenced by her bashfulness, sprouted a handful of new leaves and delicate stalks, hiding her face.
"T-Thank y-you..." A shy, both glad and puzzled murmur was the only thing Ayu was able to say, still covering herself with the precious plant - but it was no use. The tips of her pointy ears were all blushed too, telling the two warriors in front of her with cruel obviousness that the Guardian's disciple was a hopelessly bashful young woman.
Thankfully, Opherla pulled something out of the pocket of her jacket and presented it to her, granting her a distraction. One gift was already enough, but two..? After a moment of hesitation, Ayu lowered the pot and slowly reached out to receive the small, soft thing. Her blushed cheeks barely started to return to their regular, pastel-green color. Slightly tilting her head, she looked at the object she was given. The plushie wasn't bigger than Ayu's fist, it was very round and green like a pea... With beady black eyes, thread whiskers, and small ears, she recognized a squishy cat-like plushie, charming in its simplicity. Her yellow eyes softened. When she was a child, Ayu used to gather plushies to not feel lonely when she was alone at home, later she donated every mascot she had to Terra. She had... Matured too fast and too soon because there was no choice and never had a moment to think about plushies. Yet this straightforward gesture seemed to be Opherla's way of telling her to treat the inner child once in a while... No, most likely it wasn't that but it reminded Ayu of it.
"Thank y-you too," she smiled shyly. "It's a cute little fellow," Ayu cradled the Bean - as she decided to call the plushie in her mind - together with the tea tree pot against her chest.
That was a cordial part of their greeting. Soon enough a more serious matter was brought out. The reason they came all this way here was clear now - as so did many others before them. Ayu slowly nodded her head. The mood from lighter turned more pensive, and weighty again. People don't tend to visit the temple unless they need something... But that's how it worked all this time. Dwellers of The Lookout were the ones aiding warriors in their mission of protecting the Earth, while they lived in seclusion here. They were guardians, overseers, helpers - but their place was here, above the skies. They did not take part in the life taking place below, they were separating themselves to not forget their role. They didn't have the comfort to enjoy what the world has to offer. They lived long, lonely, dutiful lives on the Lookout, bounding their time to the responsibility that only a chosen few were aware of. Never seen by regular folk, rarely appreciated as non-fighters, easily forgotten and remembered when it was convenient. Never taking part in the major events but always watching them. Always guarding the planet as a whole but every time letting the consequences of the conflicts on Earth be resolved by people... Unless the whole globe was threatened.
It would be easy to grow bitter but she has never seen anything like this in Dende's eyes. Only tranquility that came with experience and time, something that she wished she could have. He kept reminding Ayu that it takes enormous strength to be kind when the world and its people are indifferent to them. Not loved. Not hated. Simply unconcerned about those who cared.
Still, she will have to be the one to break the news about the Chamber to Opherla and Liek... Ayu knew what was happening inside the Lookout better than anyone she knew. And yet, for a proper explanation, she needed to trouble Dende. He was expecting that she could tell already. Namekians did have an acute hearing - and without a doubt, he was aware of the presence of their visitors.
"Then please follow me. I'd h-hate to be the bringer of bad news but I'm afraid that your trip here was in vain." On Ayu's face, a small apologetic smile appeared and her eyes revealed a sense of sadness. With a gesture, she showed them the entrance toward the lower levels of the Lookout. "I will guide you to the Guardian," she spoke softly, before walking towards the stairs, listening quietly to the steps of the visitors behind her.
As they were descending between the corridors and many of the countless rooms of the temple, Ayu decided to share as much as she knew. They deserved it, even if she wasn't exactly the right person to be in charge... But Dende was busy, so she could at least take as much off his shoulders.
"Right now, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is inaccessible," she began her explanation as they walked towards the room that the Namekian occupied. The Lookout from outside didn't seem to be able to hold such enormous space, though it was also a form of sorcery. Orbs crafted from pure energy were lighting their way in the places where there were no windows to shine the sunlight through. In a way, it was a maze... But she lived here so long already that she knew every corner. "The magic spells that have weaved such place into existence, to my knowledge, are self-sustaining. Because of the universe's current situation, we were preparing the Chamber for everyone interested, as many warriors declared they wished to train here..." Ayu's voice grew quiet suddenly. So many lives were at stake and people wanted to be stronger for the sake of defending the Earth. Even if their intentions weren't always pure, the reasoning behind their desire wasn't an important thing as long as it all boiled down to fighting the same enemy. That's... That was how things were in this world.
Unconsciously, she pressed the tiny plushie cat against her heart. First Namek, then Vegeta. Since they opened the door to the Chamber, Ayu remembered the dread in Dende's eyes when they saw both of the hourglasses cracked. The unknown to them case has tempered with the flow of magic inside that very special place, making it dangerous for anyone that would dare to stay inside. Dimension within those walls was very peculiar. When it was damaged like that it would cause time to fluctuate and spiral instead of going slower as usual... A living being could age rapidly inside, or maybe stay frozen in time forever. They didn't dare to check, instead, the Guardian of Earth started repairs right away. Because of all that, her soundless wish to train inside the Chamber alongside others was dying out. They were short on time with Arctic coming and the current state of the Chamber left little to the imagination. The situation was dire. Ayu was going to step aside and give away her place to someone else. The warriors would surely make better use of the possibility of training inside than she could ever do, and she would never foolishly take their chance for preparation away. Earth needed them.
"Unfortunately... S-Something had happened in between our realm and the pocket dimension that holds the Time Chamber. I don't know the details... But as we speak Dende's magic is still fuelling the spells that are restoring the flow of time inside the Chamber," Ayu explained in a gentle voice, and the soft crack that shook her tone when she spoke about the Guardian betrayed her worry. Dende has been using his mana nonstop for quite some time now. With his power and experience, Ayu would never feel anxious but his age started to show, the work was putting its strain on his back. She just hoped that he was taking care of himself but selfless as he was, he was pushing his limits to make the door of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber open to everyone as soon as possible. "I... I p-please ask for your understanding," she lowered her head, eyes gleaming with concern. "As the Chamber is, it was an outside factor that caused damage, unseen from our realm. It didn't happen because of neglect," in a quiet voice, Ayu earnestly appealed to their forbearance. Her steps slowed down and there was a moment when she stopped in her tracks, her heart sinking into worry. "Dende has been working on getting rid of the issue ever since it was discovered. I am... Aware that the timing couldn't be worse, I-I really am..." Taking a deep breath, she slowly shook her head before resuming her walk toward Namekian's chamber. "But please, don't blame the Guardian. It was out of his hands."
They never saw it coming, nor Dende, nor Mr. Popo, nor her. Now the pressure was only growing stronger, with threat breathing on their necks and the very needed aid being under maintenance.
The rest of the way Ayu hadn't spoken a word until they reached the door to Dende's chamber. She barely knocked on them, when they heard the handle creak and the Guardian emerged.
Tall and old Namekian with a gentle gaze, was not one people would think when they heard about Guardian of Earth. Dende was a peaceful, hardworking soul, who chose to live on an alien planet and dedicated his life to protect it. His wrinkled face looked tired, circles under his eyes from exhaustion didn't hinder the aura of a wise and experienced sage. He might have been a presence that was easy to overlook by those who didn't know better... But for those who knew, he was the most important figure on the blue planet.
"I welcome you, warriors," he greeted them with a tired but genuinely heartfelt smile. "I am Dende, Earth's Guardian. I trust, Ayu told you about the issue at hand already... If you have any questions about Chamber or different matters or additional concerns that could require my aid, please, speak."
It was impossible to see. It wasn't anyone's fault... But she knew that somehow Dende still felt responsible for the Hyperbolic Time Chamber's situation.

Opherla was glad her gift brought a smile to Ayu's face. She knew Ayu probably needed it, given the stress everyone was going through right now. Opherla was stressed in her own way with Arctic's arrival being near. Opherla wished she had an answer, a way to put everyone's minds at ease with one statement... but the answer was eluding her for the time being, as it made her a bit frustrated with herself that she firstly was too weak to do anything about Arctic, and frustrated that every defender of Earth was falling apart at the seams while Opherla was trying to be cheerleader for everyone. Well, her cheerleading capabilities were running low.
And then the news came that the Hyperbolic Time Chamber was unavailable to be used, first from Ayu, and then later with Dende himself. Opherla could only feel her heart sink as she heard this news. Arctic was so close to Earth... and the Hyperbolic Time Chamber... couldn't be used!? Opherla felt her heart sank like a rock as she heard this... the one chance she had to get stronger before Arctic arrived... was gone. Maybe not permanently but... for the moment... it was gone. Meaning Opherla was at a bigger loss than she had been when she and Liek got here.
She heard Ayu's soft voice apologizing to them for the fact that they couldn't use the chamber, as Opherla sighed, looking at Ayu with a soft smile of her own.
"It's okay Ayu... thank you for informing us anyways. We'll simply have to seek other ways of training for Arctic's arrival for the time being." Opherla said with a nod before they eventually reached Dende and Mr. Popo, as Opherla's eyes widened in shock at Mr. Popo, as she was a little creeped out by the man when she saw him, her eyes glancing momentarily at him. 'Is he even ALLOWED!?' Opherla spoke to herself, trying not to stare but she hadn't seen any... one? Thing? She hadn't seen an individual like Mr. Popo EVER! Quickly, she realized she was staring at him longer than anticipated when she heard Dende speaking, as she shook her head and focused on Dende.
"Greetings, Dende. My name is Opherla. As far as questions go... the only one I have to ask is... will the Time Chamber be opened up any time soon?" Opherla asked him with a hopeful expression in her eyes.

The unavailability of the Chamber was a setback, but at the same time merely getting this far could be considered progress. They had come chasing rumours, hearsay from an ancient old man who may have been a master martial artists but of dubious character otherwise. The young hybrid had come half expecting to be told they had been sent on a wild goose chase by a senile old man. Assume there was even a Lookout to begin with, but old Master Roshi’s words had been vindicated twice over. Not only did the Lookout exist but so too did the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
“A shame.” Liek noted, “But if nothing can be done we’ll just have to train that much harder with the time we have left.” He hoped there hadn’t been a wavering in his voice, as although he tried to present a confident exterior he felt the same nervousness and unease that his girlfriend did. The Chamber could have given them a significant edge that could have completely turned the tide against Arctic, but it would have been foolish to place all their faith in a single tactic.
That the Chamber could have made them significantly stronger in a short period of time was a presumption. One that still remained true.
The assumption that they could even use it was their error. Granted, there where not being told they where not allowed, only that the Chamber couldn’t be used by anyone.
If Liek was taken aback by the presence of Mister Popo he didn’t allow it to show. He wasn’t entirely unprepared for the sight, Roshi had warned him, and his Grandmother had made mention of similar beings in the past, calling them Genies. Powerful and magical beings of mysterious origin who had been witnessed on many worlds by the Fury.
To Dende the Prince of the Fury focused his attention and bowed formally, his right hand over his chest and his other behind his back. The boy spoke, “Greetings to you Guardian Dende, I am Liek Galswith of the Holy Fury Empire. It is my honour to meet you.”

Ayu was glad that she was able to introduce Opherla and Liek to Dende. Sometimes this place, even if it was the Lookout, the Temple in the Sky, felt just a tad too lonely - and a brief company could lift the Guardian's spirit. Even if only a little.
"I'm glad to meet you both. In my long life, it always makes my heart joyful to meet young blood devoted to protecting the Earth," Dende's nostalgic gaze looked at them with appreciation as they exchanged greetings. Though his face was now tainted with melancholy and worry - Ayu had delivered bad news already, but as Guardian, he was the master of the place. He was standing straight and taking the blame for lack of preparations on himself. Both his wrinkled hands tightened around his staff when a heavy sigh raised his chest. "Unfortunately, the magic that weaved the pocket dimension of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber started to fray. I apologize," he responded to the crisis genuinely. Ayu wouldn't expect any less but she still knew it wasn't his fault. Wasn't anyone's fault. "I will do everything in my power to make sure it will be ready as soon as possible."
The Chamber... So many warriors were waiting for it. No doubt that Dende was under a lot of pressure that caused him to go out of his way and use a tremendous amount of ki to maintain magic spells. Deep down she was worried about his wellbeing but at the same time, she knew he needed to do it. Even at the cost of his health.
"Ayu will inform you when the Chamber will be accessible again." A drop of sweat appeared on the side of his temple and he started breathing deeper. Mr. Popo carefully put his hand on his back, ready to support older Namekian if anything were to happen. Fixing the magic was exhausting more than it seemed so at first... "I apologize, I must excuse myself for now," Dende placed a hand on his chest and lightly bowed his head. "Stay as long as you'd need. Please take care of our guests." He looked at Ayu and she nodded solemnly, taking on this task. Though her heart ached at the sight of him in this state, she only could do everything he asked her for - there was nothing else that could lessen his burden. The Guardian needed some time alone. Although she started to feel bad that she made him step out of his chambers, she was glad to see that he was glad to meet Opherla and Liek. Maybe after a short rest, he could join them. For now, Mr. Popo was accompanying him and the door behind them closed.
It was them three now... The kids were busy taking care of their own training and learning at this hour, so no one would bother them right now. Though the situation was slightly awkward, she wanted to make them feel at home.
"I was wondering if you'd like to join me for tea... Though-," Ayu's voice abruptly stopped when an idea caused some hesitation. She stroked her lightly blushed cheek, torn between a usual hospitality consisting of cookies and cups of tea - or something completely different. Perhaps... If she could help them, why not..? She raised her gaze, looking at Opherla and Liek with uncertainty. The warriors came here hoping to train and even if the original plan was different, Ayu might been able to aid with that. At least partially. And luckily, this type of practice didn't need the Guardian's blessing, as long as she would tag along. "I-If you'd like to train," she started explaining, "there is one more place I could suggest. It's not as effective as Hyperbolic Time Chamber but I've been using it myself lately." Stepping to the side, she gestured towards the corridor on their left. "Please follow me."
A typical evening full of cookies, tea, and snacks could very well take place after training. Warriors were of different breed, especially those who had Saiyan's blood in their veins - so fighting was coming first and food second. Ayu knew that quite well. And she wanted to help them as much as she could, after all, that was Guardian's duty. With Dende's mind and energy being occupied with fixing the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, it was only right for Ayu to carry on the obligations in his place. That's why she guided Opherla and Liek deeper into the Lookout, stopping in front of the old entrance marked by a sigil looking like a clock. A fitting pattern to what was hiding inside.
She opened the door, letting them go inside first. It was a dark chamber filled with nothing but... Clocks. On the walls, floor, and ceiling. The sound of ticking was almost deafening - at least to her sensitive ears. The shade inside made it akin to a space consisting of a void and watches floating in midair. Three things only seemed to be constant in this place. The door they used to get inside, the ring on the ground, and the giant, golden pendulum swinging to the sides through the space of an entire chamber.
"This is the Pendulum Room," Ayu explained in a calm tone, placing the potted tea plant and Bean plushie next to the door. Standing up, she walked up to stop next to the warrior duo. "To activate it, one needs to stand in the ring here and think of the past as the pendulum reaches them. This place can show and transport you to a-any event in history," she smiled a little nervously, hoping that her description was clear enough. Herself, Ayu has been using this to re-live the fight in South City and also that one fateful night when her energy for the first time went out of control, almost killing Liari and Calot. With more experience, she knew now what she should have done... "Mind you, it's not time travel. No matter how things would play out inside it, the outcome that happened, in reality, will stay the same," she stroked her chin, thinking what words to use. "Please, think of it as... An interactive magic vision you can use to train."
Yeah, that sounded just right. Whatever happened in the Pendulum Room was going to stay inside. Training here was effective because it could show her over and over again the techniques that others used, and let her see once more the tactics utilized in fights... And Ayu's own mistake, that she could learn from. It wasn't so easy sometimes, to see so obviously what she had done wrong but it all was for the sake of learning and growing. And gods only know that when they have to face Arctic, they will have to be the best versions of themselves.
"Would you like to give it a try?" she asked.
