Name: Liek (Saiyan name) aka Rayleonard Thermidor (Demon name)
Age: 16
Starting Planet: Earth
Race: Saiyan/Demon Hybrid
Transformation Path: Saiyan SS4 Path (Flavoured)
Racial Traits: Saiyan (Zenkai, The Tail of a Saiyan), Demon (Looters -25%, Makyo Power -25%)

Fighting Style: Aerial Balanced (Furiemshinken)
Faction (Optional):
Sexuality: Straight Plus
Appearance: Link to Liek's Appearance
Face claim is Fang from Fairy Fencer F
Personality: Liek’s world is built on a foundation of his two natures and his upbringing, sometimes they align and sometimes they compete. As a Saiyan he enjoys battle as much as any other and finds a simple fulfilment in training and pushing the limits of his body. His Demon side yearns, seeking greater power, wealth, companionship. All the while his upbringing urges him to protect those weaker than himself, to aid those in need and never take what he isn’t owed.
He is naive to the world at large, knowing nothing of the major factions, their members or the people trying to change things, be they for the better or for themselves. His naivety extends to things beyond the Earth, with his awareness of things beyond the blue planet’s atmosphere barely extending beyond a vague awareness. He knows he’s half-saiyan and half-demon, but his understanding of those concepts are limited.
He is surprisingly cunning for someone who shows dominant Saiyan genetics. He would much rather think his way around a fight, to win with as little effort and damage taken as possible. As a result he is willing to use unorthodox tactics and the environment to his full advantage, especially when a foe would overlook such factors.
As far as ambitions go, his limited scope of knowledge also brings his ambitions down to a simpler level: He wants to find his place in the world, to meet new friends, have fun and enjoy life. After all, what more does one really need...?
History: To say Liek’s parents got along well would be an absolutely lie worthy of sending someone to HFIL. His father, Inion, was a weak Saiyan mercenary on the payroll of the PTO charged with finding new planets for the organisation to conquer and enslave, with a bonus if the man could do it himself. On one such expedition the man’s pod was caught in an anomaly that flung the pod into the Demon Realm where it crashed hard, severely injuring the man.
But it was not his fate to die that day as his pod crashed near the estate of one of the Demon Lords who ruled that dark realm. This Demon Lord, by the name of Fanchia Thermidor found the Saiyan appealing to her eyes and the potential of his blood an asset worth cultivating. Inion, immobilised by his injuries, refused to the best of his abilities.
Not that she cared.
Liek was born several months later.
Oh how Fanchia doted on her child. Despite being merciless towards other demons and harbouring ambitions of conquest of the entire Demon Realm, her child was all the more important to her, a fact that surprised even her. For the first two years of his life the child, who she had named Rayleonard, lived in comfort, his every need tended to promptly by either his mother or one of her servants.
But where was his father, one may ask? Seething in hatred while forced to toil as a lowly slave. He was powerless in the face of the monstrous power of the Demon Lord who had birthed his son, and although she had recognised his potential lying dormant within she had deemed his useless to her beyond menial labour and siring offspring due to his stubborn nature.
Weak though he was, it was that weakness that lead to Fanchia underestimating his resourcefulness.
One fateful day when Rayleonard was four years old his father snatched the boy when his watcher’s where distracted and fled the estate. This wasn’t some spur of the moment decision on Inion’s part, but a plan years in the making. In secret he had repaired his body piece by piece, researching how he was brought here in the first place and how to leave once again. And on that day it was the perfect time to act, the conditions for a portal to open back to the Mortal Realm where met, all he needed was to get to the pod and take off.
Rayleonard recognised the man as his father, he was the only other person around with a furry tail after all, and in his youthful innocence played along with his father’s ‘game’ and gave him no troubles. The boy’s mother was another matter entirely. She learned of the abduction just a little too late, only catching site of the pod as it began to transition back to the Mortal Realm. In a fit of fury and desperation to stop the pod she fired a ki blast at the pod, damaging it, but not preventing it’s departure.
Back in the Mortal Realm the damage was immediately felt. Inion had programmed the pod to take him back to planet Vegeta where he intended to raise the boy as a proper Saiyan. However, the damage threw the pod wildly off course and causing it to crash land once again, this time in a remote region of Earth.
This time Inion was not as luck as last time. His injuries were mortal. Although help arrived swiftly in the form of a female hermit Inion’s injuries where impossible to treat, his death could only be slowed, not prevented. Still, he did find solace in two things before he drew his last breath. The first was the knowledge that that accursed Demon Lord was going to be denied her prize and it would be hell for her to locate him now. The other was that he got to live long enough to grant his son a proper Saiyan name: Liek. He also told the female hermit many facts about Saiyans, things she would need to know in order to rightly raise the boy.
Grandma Fa, as she had Liek call her, took some of that information, such as the whole turning into a giant monkey under moon light, information to heart while categorically discarding other information, like Inion’s insistence Liek be trained to be warrior-for-hire like his father.
Instead she raised and trained him in her own way, she taught him to be empathetic and caring, to find joy and fulfilment in helping others, be they sapient or an animal. She taught him how to hunt, not with a weapon but with his sense, his body and his ki, both how to use them to find prey and to mercifully take it’s life. In between teaching him how to live in the wild she also taught him skills for living in society, like how to read, write, mathematics and how money works. She also taught him the nearly lost martial art she practised, the Furiemshinken, the Fury Style.
The Furiemshinken is a heavily flight based martial art form, as such Liek has spent the lion’s share of his life on Earth in the air. Flying is as natural to him as walking. So much so it’s not uncommon to find him flying in his sleep.
The years passed, and his days passed with the simple routine of waking early for morning practice with his grandmother before hunting for the first meal of the day. The two would then practice the fine control of their ki with various manoeuvres in the sky before sparring until it was time to hunt for dinner. Finally, in the evening they would meditate together and discuss Liek’s training, progress or anything else that came to his mind. Grandmother Fa was all too happy to help Liek learn to understand his training and the nature of himself and growing into a young man, even if it was awkward for him at times.
But, all good things must come to an end. One morning Grandma Fa simply did not rise from her bed. This wasn’t terribly unexpected, she was quite old and had been warning Liek that she wasn’t long for the world, that it was only a matter of time before she passed away. Even so, it hit Liek hard, and he was emotionally unstable for some time.
Even so, he honoured her last wishes and buried her atop a near the lake by their little home, right next to the grave markers of her friends who had departed for Other World before her.
He lived alone for a while after that, not knowing any other way. But he was still young and the silence and loneliness quickly got to him. Deciding that he couldn’t live that anymore he resolved to seek out whatever there was out in the world.
So begins the Adventure of Liek.
Techniques:
[ST2] Flight: the ability to use one’s energy to fly, whether organic or not. Liek’s training in the Furiemshinken has made flying second nature, granting him more control and making him faster and more agile while in the air.
[ST1] Ki Sense: The ability to detect other energy signatures, within a small radius.
[ST1] Tail Mastery: After having the weakness pointed out to him, Liek worked diligently to overcome the weakness of having his tail grabbed.
[DT1] Fury Deflection: Furiemshinken technique that allows the user to deflect an attack up 33% of their PL
[OT1] Fury Crash: Liek coats himself in a shield of ki before flying at the enemy and ramming with with all his might.
Roleplay Sample:
Sharp eyes gazed out across the domain they called home, surveying the green below as the winds caused the leaves and blades of grass to sway. To the watcher’s right ran a great river that the landed beasts, great and small alike, and sometimes the watcher themselves, would drink from. To their left was the fields and forests in which they made their home.
The gaze of the watcher drifted to below where the patient hunter knew sooner of later some hapless creature would soon become it’s meal for the day. After all, the watcher was the Great Ruler of these lands, none compared to their majesty, their strength, their speed or their precision. They where the eagle, the perfect predator. No beast in this domain was their equal! Indeed, all the ground bound beasts where their prey and nothing more.
A flash of movement caught the attention of the apex hunter and they focused their attention on the morsel; a foolish hare had stepped out into the field, exposing it to being seen from the air. If the eagle had possessed a mouth they would have smirked at how easy it’s foolish prey made thing for it.
A slight angling of it wings rolled the great hunter onto his back as he angled down and began diving at his prey. The Bird of Prey hurtled towards the ground with controlled grace, pulling up at the last moment with talons extended, unaware hare just inches from his grasp-
Only to be unceremoniously blown away, shrieking, by a sudden gust of wind as a black and red blur. After landing in a heap with a thud the dizzy bird stood up and shook it’s head, trying to figure out what in the world had just happened. Catching sight of the cause the eagle let out an indignant shriek.
It’s prey had been stolen by that damned dirty bipedal ape! AGAIN!
Liek grinned from where he stood with with hare in his hands before waving at the eagle, “Sorry Sky! Looks like we had the same idea!” he held up the rabbit and laughed, “You really need to work on your speed ol’ buddy!”
SKY?! That uncultured ape! The Great Ruler’s name was Galestorm the Omnifeathered! How dare he call the Great Ruler by such an undignified title!
That does it! This creature had insulted him for the last time! With a great battle cry the eagle launched himself at the ape thing only to pass through where the child had previously been standing. Blinking and looking around confused, not really understanding what had happened the bird didn’t think to look up until he heard a whistle.
There, in the sky, upside down, was Liek, grinning ear from ear. The bird’s irritation only grew as the boy taunted him with a sing-song, “You’re too sloo-oow~” eliciting and enrage roar from the great bird who took to the wing to try and catch the boy.
However, no matter how fast the eagle was the boy simply evaded with a giggle. Four more times the bird tried to catch the boy, only for him to get away with ease, only causing the bird’s rage to grow. However on the fifth attempt the boy seemed to disappear entirely again. Blinking in surprise it didn’t take long for the eagle to hear the boy speak, “Sorry Sky, I can’t stay and play longer. Grandma told me to come home as soon as I caught something, so… see you next time!”
The eagle had just enough time to turn towards the voice in time to see the boy zoom past with a visible mach cone trailing in his wake. Now, as an eagle, the Great Ruler, Galestorm the Omnifeathered, had no concept of what a mach cone was, but in that moment he could tell it was dangerous… and that he had no way to avoid it.
And so he was flung shrieking through the air to land unceremoniously in a tree.
Right next to a she-eagle who was diligently building a nest. A she-eagle who looked up from her nest building with hunger filled eyes. Not for prey to fill her belly… and in that moment Galestorm knew his life was over. Not that his heart would not continue to beat in his chest, oh no. But his life as a solitary ruler. No, now because of that meddlesome ape child, he would now have to share his throne.
Elsewhere in the forest the ten year old Liek gently landed on the ground near the home he shared with his grandmother. He looked up at the wooden building with a smile, he didn’t know much about how much or how little of a home it was, but it was his home and he liked it. But he didn’t enter right away, not with an unprepared dinner in hand, oh no, he had one stop to make first. Taking off again he flew around to the side of the house which had a shed attached precisely for preparing the meat they hunted. He grinned as he found his grandmother already in there.
“Grandma! I caught a hare!” He then laughed, “That eagle, Sky, also wanted it and tried to play tag with me for it!”
His grandmother laughed, “Oh? Is that so? Obviously he didn’t catch you…” She noted with a smile, “You didn’t cheat did you?”
“What? No!” Liek pouted, “I’d never cheat at a fair game!”
The old woman chuckled and patted her adopted grandson on the head before saying, “Of course not. You’re a better behaved boy then to do that.” She then took the hare off of him and place it on the bench, ready for her to prepare it. With a smile she then asked, “Now could you be a dear and prepare the kitchen and light the oven? I should have this meat ready to go by the time you’re done.”
“Ok!” Liek agreed, “Love you Grandma!” He chirped as he ran off.
Old Fa only smiled as the boy dashed away.
