A full day of rest was exactly what Shorette needed. After the events that transpired from being ran out of her home and finding a new one to acknowledging that she needed to "brush up" on her skills as both an archaeologist and a treasure hunter. In reality, she needed to get stronger. Two young men found the young woman when she collapse from the immense pain she suffered through her injuries and bruises, then she was taken in by a man named Athren who not only restored one of the young woman's outfits, but allowed her to stay in the village, and also gave her her own room. There was a lot she'd want to change, but that'd mean never meeting the man initially. Perhaps later down the line, but it was all wishful thinking. She couldn't go back to the past. As always, she stuck with her motto: to live with no regrets and never look back. She wasn't going that way.
When Athren offered her training, Shorette gladly accepted it. She had to use everything given herself to exceed her limits. There were multiple things that she could learn; how to defend herself, how to increase attack speed, try to improve her flying skills, and maybe even learn how to utilize ki properly. She had a plan, once she felt like she was ready to get back on her feet, and that was to get at the thugs that chased her out of her own home. The humiliation she felt when she was outnumbers and there was nothing else to do but run away.
Throughout her day of rest, Shorette went over certain conversations she had with the Saiyan from their first meeting. It was anything but dignifying, given on how they met. There was one line that the young woman replayed in her head over and over.
Handling danger and handling yourself in a fight are two very different things, now aren't they? I'd hate to say it, but if you need to get the jump on somebody to be ready to handle this.. 'danger', then you're really not prepared for it at all, are you?
Then another,
Practically the same? Isn't there people who drown? People fall from heights, people face all kinds of danger all the time. Though when you're placed against somebody who's actively trying to hurt you in a fight, it's a completely different thing.
Bullshit. They were all the same. Fighting, earthquakes, if it was a situation that Shorette had to defend herself in, uncontrolled, she was in danger, and she knew how to handle herself. She was in the game of treasure hunting for as long as she was when she followed her father's footsteps when she was young. From pickpocketing, to various encounters of random armed soldiers that were in pursuit of the same artifact she was after. To be one step ahead was what Shorette did best. It was important for her to be prepared in advanced. And if things don't go her way? Well, she was always best at improvising, even if said improvision was not as perfect.
That was why Shorette made the request to start her training today. In a partly cloudy afternoon, after the young woman settled in and gotten somewhat used to the environment around her and... lack of plumbing after awakened from her slumber. She stood by the river, on her phone while she patiently waited for the Saiyan to arrive. As expected from having no electricity and far into Mother Nature, Shorette had no service, which meant being on her phone was virtually a waste of time. She groaned to herself in frustration as she fumbled around with her phone before she eventually shoved it back in her pocket.
Alright... now to play the waiting game. Tick, tick, tick.

Shorette, the newest addition to Crimson Rivers and one of the most powerful people in the village. While she still had a long way to go to be a contender on the planet defense scale, she had shown massive potential and Athren could sense that she had a lot more to offer in terms of power. While she was cunning and very intelligent, she had lacked the power to back it up and that's where his promise came in. He wanted her to be strong, not only to protect herself but to protect his village if he were gone, and he couldn't help but be paranoid about that now. While the power level in the universe was a mystery, Athren knew that it couldn't have been good. He felt it in a way that was far beyond his ki sensing abilities, he felt it in his stomach, in his every nerve. That along side Callion's message, it was clear that there was a danger in the universe that may very well be on it's way to Earth and Athren knew he wasn't a match for it, he felt death was on it's way for him and there wasn't anything he could do about it. All he could do was train to his hearts desire and prepare to meet his end, while also preparing Shorette to help the village if needed. He hoped that it would go under the Radar, but if it didn't at least it would have one more chance. He had found himself in his Super Saiyan two form training out in the wilderness, his gravity chamber no longer being beneficial for his own training. He had outgrown that a long time ago. Though his hopes was that training in this Super Saiyan two form would get him comfortable with it, it would get him mastery over it and he would be able to use it to it's fullest extent like he did with super saiyan, though while he was out training, he couldn't help but remember that Shorette had requested a training session and set him up with a time that he was already running late for. On the bright side, he had one method to get there without wasting anymore time. Athren quickly used his Ki sensing and sensed out her exact location and used his instant transmission technique to appear right with her. Though he assumed she'd be caught off guard by this, what was more likely to be surprising was his attitude. He had now been a man that knew death was coming, it was just a matter of time until the power had taken focus on Earth and brought everything it had to bring it down. There was work to do, but Athren was ultimately ready to accept his fate.
He immediately extended his hand to her and cut straight to the point. His tensions were high and he was very eager to get her into the gravity room. "Give me your hand and we'll start your training, we've got a lot of work to do." He had every intention of letting her know what could be on the way, but he'd at least wait to explain when they were in the gravity chamber. Once she had taken his hand, he'd use his instant transmission to bring them both into the gravity chamber.

"Whoa!" Shorette jumped as the Saiyan appeared right before her. She nearly lost her balance and almost fell right into the water. "Do people not value the art of just traveling by foot or fly anymore?" But that wasn't the only thing that threw her off guard. Once she got a good look at Athren, she noticed his hair color changed from black to blonde, along with his eye color that switched from ocean blue to green. Wait, she's seen this form before from a couple other Saiyans she had her run ins with. "Super Saiyan". At least, that's what she thought it was called. Either way, to come transformed meant serious business.
Shorette couldn't help but crack a smile despite her best efforts to stay serious as she stared at him, mainly his hair. A joke was about to erupt, but the young woman did her best to hold it in. Unfortunately, she eventually broke down into a giggle. "I'm sorry, but blonde does not suit you. You look a lot better in black. The green eyes... eh, you know what, you look pretty cute in it. I'd still prefer the blue, though." All lighthearted fun from Shorette's end, but as she stared at his face, it was all but willing to receive anything lighthearted.
The young woman's smile slightly wavered when he extended his hand. He really meant business, Shorette would've thought. Still, she had a few lighthearted jabs in her to continue. "I mean, I'm a big girl. I can handle myself, I don't need any handholding." Despite the joke, she stretched out her arm to hold his hand as instructed. Even when things seemed serious and potentially too dire, Shorette always found a way to attempt to be more positive. With all of her previous adventures as a treasure hunter, the young woman held her head out high and maintained an optimistic attitude.
When she held his hand, in an instant Shorette appeared in another location. "Whoa!" Thrown off again from the sudden quick change in scenery, the young woman looked around to try and observe her surroundings. "Like I said, so people not value the art of just traveling by foot or fly anymore?" Even though she could've flew, a small warning would have been very much appreciated. "If I have to guess though, I'm assuming this must be the 'gravity chambers' you've been referring to." She said.

Shorette's initial reaction to his instant transmission technique would've been more than enough to make him smirk if things weren't looking so dire. He had seemed to have lost some of his more playful and relaxed personalities and been adapting more of his saiyan warrior the last few days but who could blame him? With a threat like Arctic on the rise and potentially on their way to Earth, it was justified that Athren had found himself to be so serious. He knew that it was very likely the end how life was on Earth, he knew that it was also very likely to be his death. It was just a matter of time until he went face to face with the Changeling and according to the scales of power, it wasn't exactly in his favor. While he knew Callion was rounding up who he could to fight, Athren had simply just been training and preparing his own way. He didn't need to be involved in that, he knew he'd be in the fight regardless but he wasn't exactly going to settle down with his team.
"Flying or walking works, but if you're capable of something a little faster.. Why wouldn't you use it?"
Of course, he felt like he was in a rush. Even if he really had weeks, he was pressuring himself to do things as quickly as possible. There was a lot of work to be done and he still had a long way to go if he were going to fight Arctic, as he stood now, he wouldn't even hurt him. Though looking at Shorette, she had kept a playful attitude amongst his more serious one. It was a rather admirable trait how she didn't just soak up all his seriousness and let it consume her. Regardless of his attitude, she refused to change and remained herself and that was respectable.
With her playful flirts, Athren couldn't help but arch an eyebrow. If she would've caught him with this before he found out about the threat coming to Earth, he probably would've been more playful about it but he couldn't find it in him. He couldn't help but shrug his shoulders.
"Well, you're lucky I can turn it off then. Huh?"
He wasn't going too now, he was trying to adapt to his super saiyan two form and bring it to perfection. He had a long way to go, it didn't feel as easy as the Super Saiyan form did but he believed that if he kept up, he'd get it down sooner rather than later. When she had gripped his hand he had immediately taken her to the gravity chamber, it was a large room with plenty of training equipment in it and it would've been obvious that it was a perfect spot to get a whole lot stronger. To her question, he nodded his head.
"You'd be right with your guess. This is the gravity chamber and it's capable of making you a whole long stronger if you put the time in. In fact, it's even better than wearing weighted clothing." It was at this point that he paused for a moment, his eyes focusing on her. "Though before we get started, I have to ask.. Are you aware what's on it's way to Earth?" He paused for a moment, allowing her to answer.

"Better than weighted clothes, you say?" Shorette felt herself grow stronger whenever she wore these clothes. Whenever she took them off, she was faster and more resilient. It did have some drawbacks when it came to confronting more powerful opponents, but it gave her the rush of further defending herself. Whether it was through determination or desperation, Shorette's overall power has significantly improved more than she'd ever thought. "Well then. I feel as if I came very far than when I first got here. Breaking the laws of physics with this thing we're in? Technology never fails to amaze me every time." She joked.
Then came in a weighty question that the young woman couldn't deny. She nodded in response and sighed heavily as she prepared herself to answer. "I do. Kind of. Some being named Arctic is planning to come to Earth and basically turn the planet into a trillion pieces. It's hard to try and focus what's being said when you're narrowly avoiding being gunned down." She answer. Something big was coming up that shook the planet into alertness, rounding up some of its strongest warriors for the threat that would invade Earth. It looked like Shorette had to put a hold on her "business ventures" and step up to help protect her planet.
"But hey, that's why you and I are here, so you can help me get stronger. Or as strong as I can get before doomsday." She added.

He couldn't help but just nod his head to confirm that gravity training was superior to weights in terms of gaining raw power, it was a fact. Though there was something that weights had on gravity and that was mobility. You could take training weights with you everywhere you went and used them at all times, this wasn't something that you could do with gravity. Gravity was something that you needed a chamber for and you needed to be in the chamber to use it. While it was a downside for some, it was a moment of peace for Athren. He had rather enjoyed excluding himself from the world in order to get much stronger, and what better place than his gravity chamber in his ship? There was nobody else around unless he invited them and he had found a moment of peace. He couldn't argue with that.
Athren couldn't help but glance at her, his eyes still meeting her own as she talked about her own growth since her arrival to the village. He could sense it, she had grown dramatically but the question remained, did she learn any new techniques? Did she manage to find more effective ways of fighting her battles or was she still relying on the element of surprise? This was all stuff that he wanted to find out but for now, he was going to focus on the gravity. He knew it was going to be a little much for her to bare at the start, so she had to adapt to that first of all.
"You've already improved drastically since you first stepped foot inside of this village, maybe even more than you thought. Though if it means anything, I know you've barely even tapped into your potential."
It was rare for a human to be as strong as her and he knew that she was only getting started. If she kept up training like she was, there wasn't any reason that she couldn't hit Pran's level or power or even surpass him. While most humans had lacked any form of motivation to gather this amount of strength, her and Pran were the clear exceptions. They just couldn't get lazy, they'd have to keep on training in order to reach those new heights.
When the conversation had turned to Arctic, Athren once again kept his eyes rested on her. "Something like that, yeah. I sensed his power not too long ago and if I'm being completely honest, I couldn't even touch the guy if I got into a fight with him. That means that we've got to use the time to prepare and get as ready as we can be." He paused for a moment, before being bluntly honest.
"Because whether or not I can hit him or even damage him, I know that I'm going to have to face him and when that time comes, I'll be going out on my own terms." He paused, allowing her to register what he just said before making his last statement on the subject. "That's why I'd like you strong, these people.. Crimson Rivers? They're going to need somebody when I'm gone."
