Name: Shorette
Age: 25
Starting Planet: Earth
Race: Human
Transformation Path: Human
Racial Traits: Good Bargains, Intelligence, Wealthy
Items: One Time Use Space Pod
Fighting Style: Brawler
Faction (Optional): N/A
Sexuality: Pansexual
Appearance:
Personality: Having a wealthy father with an occupation that inspired the path she took, Shorette can be described as an opportunist with a little bit of heart. Often enough, she only values herself above all else and tries to see what she could get out of something or someone. She’ll do anything to get what she wants, adapting a more survival mindset. It highlights her selfish tendencies, surprisingly when she unintentionally doesn’t mean to. It doesn’t mean she has little to no care for others as she does demonstrate worry for other’s well being, something that has recently developed over the years as she began working with other fellow mercenaries. She isn’t afraid to express care and concern when needed, or at the very least, well deserved. When she was out on her own as long as she was as well as working solo, it can be a habit to be selfish.
In her line of work, Shorette sees herself as a survivor. It's very much displayed in her attitude frequently. She’s able to recognize her limits and know when to walk away from a situation she may not have control over and danger that is above her own handling. In defiance of avoiding scenarios that may not work in her favor, Shorette is no stranger to sometimes throwing caution to the wind if there is something waiting for her on the other side, aka, if she could get something out of it. Even then, Shorette could do it out of the kindness of her heart, or just straight up for the thrill of it when she feels like it. It isn’t all the time Shorette demonstrates carefulness and takes on danger with no fear of the consequences when she’s in the moment.
No matter how dire something is, Shorette always stays positive and keeps a cool head in dangerous situations. It’s a complement to her more laid back and casual attitude when it comes to most encounters. She taught herself that all situations are best handled with a calm front, even if there are times where she wants to scream and break everything in her path. But she’s not immune to losing her cool or losing the temper that was . She can panic, maybe go a little hysterical if she can’t handle it, and even go as far as to harshly snap at someone.
Regardless of Shorette’s seemingly selfish nature, Shorette is a surprisingly considerate individual even if she may not display it properly. She’s aware of her selfishness along with her other flaws of ignorance and getting caught in her lies. She takes pride in not just what she does, but also who she is as a person. She’s a woman who regularly has no regret in most actions done, but she has enough integrity to admit her wrongs, even if it kills her on the inside. She’s very friendly and always plasters on her mischievous smile. Her playfulness and banter may be seen as charming or absolutely annoying, maybe both. She usually has something fresh to say, but she normally doesn’t mean no harm depending on the circumstances.
History: Born and raised in the wealthy side of North City, Shorette was a child who was intrigued in how things work. From something as complex as how a building was made to something as simple as building her own toy house. Her mother passed when she was an infant due to an illness that was never confirmed. Her father, Duane, was a well known archaeologist. Not only did he study artifacts, but eventually he came to also sold them to high bidders by scavenging for them. Whether they were in caves or abandoned cities, he had no fear in collecting them to generate impressive income. Shorette was in awe of her father’s profession and idolized him for it. Her goal was to one day be just like her father, to study these artifacts and make a fortune out of them. As Duane became more demanded in the market, he became less involved in Shorette’s life.
Shorette, for the majority of her young years, was on her own. Despite Duane’s absence, that didn’t stop her from achieving her dreams of emulating her father’s profession. She began to practice her petty thief steals by starting small: pickpocketing. Initially, she struggled and often got caught along with being lectured or insulted. As the years went on, her craft improved immensely. She began to experiment her thieving skills with picking locks, stealth, and even silent takedowns. By the time she was 16, Shorette practically became a pro. Or, more realistically speaking, decent for someone who had absolutely no training.
Duane eventually found out about Shorette’s criminal activities that went on for nearly a decade, but instead of meeting him in disappointment and shock, he instead praised his daughter for her thieving skills. Although it was all but legal and something he wouldn’t encourage, it showed him that she was a very capable young woman despite the circumstances and her age. He wanted to test her and see how well she could do in his shoes, somewhat. That was when he decided he wanted to take Shorette with him on his adventures.
The duo bonded closer the more Shorette tagged along with Duane. Her skills began to immensely improve almost everyday. She became desensitized to the dangers thrown at her. It was as if she was enjoying the dangers coming at her, but she knew better than to create danger for the fun of it. Even when Shorette felt like she was living her best life, Duane managed to keep her grounded and not get carried away for the sake of keeping her alive. Shorette began to adopt a “survivor” attitude where her own well being alongside her father. For her, it was them against the world.
Duane knew that Shorette needed something to defend herself against any sort of danger, so he decided to give her a few lessons on how to use a firearm. He would often lend his semiautomatic rifle for Shorette to get the feel of using a gun. At first, guns were something that Shorette felt were beyond what she was used to. The more she practiced with it with the help of her father the more comfortable she’d gotten with it. Even though she may not have her own gun yet, what mattered more was she managed to learn how to use one.
Just months after she started training with her father’s gun, Shorette discovered her semblance. She was exploring with Duane until the two were attacked by surprise by two lowly thieves with intentions to steal whatever they had on them. Duane was forced into a handicapped situation as a means to protect Shorette. In a losing battle, Shorette began to panic. Her aura glowed around her with widened eyes as she took cover. All it took for her to snap was two bullets piercing straight through his upper chest. The next thing she knew, a semiautomatic rifle, the same exact copy her father used, appeared in her hand. Without warning or any sense to process what just happened, Shorette aimed the gun and started firing with a sloppy wide pattern, somehow striking the two thieves and forcing them to retreat as she managed to get a few shots landed.
Shorette ran for Duane after the brawl reached its end, but her father was already bleeding out. She tried her best to stop the bleeding, but there was nothing she could do but watch the life in his eyes slowly go out. Before she knew it, Duane laid dead in the pool of his own blood with his eyes emotionlessly staring into space. She was officially on her own.
For the next few years, Shorette worked solo. Since then, she has trained on her semblance and learned how and when to activate it. While she continued in Duane’s footsteps by collecting and selling artifacts, she branched her “services” from various gigs for more than just selling artifacts. Whether it was retrieving information, sabotaging, or stealing information, Shorette was ready to do it all for a nice pay.
Techniques:
[P1OT1] Knife Hand Strike: Shorette can apply a lot of force to her punch to where she is able to pierce through skin with her fist, usually targeted around the shoulder area.

[ST1] Flight: Shorette has the ability to fly, it isn’t at a competent level to where she can use it naturally. At the best, she can only levitate just a few feet off the ground. As of now, it’s a technique that is rarely if not never used unless trained any further.
[OT1] Cracked Finale: Shorette delivers an uppercut to the chin, followed by slamming her fist into the opponent's stomach, then finishes off the move with a cracking axe punch on top of the opponent's head
[ST1] Somatic Sense: This technique allows Shorette to sense the most subtle disturbance in the air to detect any person or moving object.
Roleplay Sample:
Shorette wasn't sure if this was something she was willing to do. Across the damp cave was a shining golden artifact that glowed across the damp cave. Even when it was practically pitch black within the hollow pothole, the artifact's faint golden glow was able to pierce through the darkness. The woman had nothing on her as a light source; no lighter, torch, not even her own phone that ended up being lost during her entire journey. She didn't know if there was any potential traps lying around or if anyone was hiding in the darkness. Despite all the possible danger right in front and around her, it didn't stop Shorette from getting the artificat. It was now or never, and she had to act now.
