The Saiyan Empire at its' core was a union of prideful warriors. Tact and strategy were oft not a part of their modus operandi. That wasn't to say the high command necessarily thought that such tactics didn't have place or were ineffective, just that there was no need for underhanded behavior when a Saiyan's natural might was enough to subdue most enemies without muss or fuss. When the USD had conquered Planet Vegeta and stripped Saiyans of their rights on Earth, it had unleashed a boiling fury in the Saiyan populace. Their weak King, Braccus, had capitulated to the invaders on paper, but the army wasn't so quick to submit.
Yakone wore his full armor-plated jacket, mask snug against his face as he walked through the freezing, abandoned halls of a Saiyan Army outpost dug into the side of an icy mountain. This place was meant for reconnaissance and potential guerilla operations to disrupt the USD in their home territory, but such ambitions never came to pass. No. Instead, Zaks had cast out the USD by force - and it was only a matter of days before their visiting force moved on an Earthling city as revenge. Records dug up by his father and reviewed by field support confirmed that they had at least one scout still on-planet.
Judging by the condition of forward outpost Ise, they hadn't used it much. Surely dispatch of their arrival on Earth had reached this Casca by now. The planet's news and government were on high alert, well aware that tensions between the new radical Queen and the USD could boil over into armed conflict - and so close to the South City incident. Yakone grunted, a small flame flickering to life in his palm to ward off the cold. Even if Casca went rogue or simply didn't know of the station, he'd find potentially valuable documents and records stored safely here.

Quiet wasn't the usual way Casca liked doing things. But, in the service of tearing down a planet that did nothing but harm her comrades? It was to be done. She could pose as a normal human among the populace, working odd jobs with her goal to record each little thing she could witness. Which meant having to ditch the Scouter and standard Vegetan garb she had grown accustomed to. As per her cautious directions, she was told to keep a low profile, even when contacting others planetside.
One place was considered at least safe from spies and the slip of a tongue though. An older outpost that she'd frequent from time to time to keep records straight and add what she could to them. It was a mess and surely she didn't spend that much time here if a fellow Saiyan deemed it 'not in use'. There was but one room in the nestled Ise outpost that currently had power going to it, ran on the simple generators that once ran the whole place. All seemed to point directly to this computer room now.
Casca had a pretty good sense of when things snuck up on her. She'd produce her own little flame in hand and step away from the computer as she boldly readied herself. That presence was strong, maybe even too tough if she had to go all out, but she'd be willing to try if it was a possible threat to this place and her mission. The faux saiyan was expecting a torchlight or something to peer through the compact station in search of this room any moment... But when she saw flame herself, she'd get a little curious.
Rather than let this presence stumble about closer and closer, she'd meet them halfway. Away from the computer storage but within a close dashing distance between both exit and said storage.
"Hold it. State your business." Casca would shout suddenly, far enough to where neither could really make out the other's appearance but clearly saw the light of each other's flames.

The technology here was a generation outdated. A mix of modified foreign imports and retrofitted machines. Yakone shook his head in disbelief, anger welling that the Empire had been forced to operate on a shoestring budget. That their standards and capabilities had slipped enough to allow this. His data interrogator came with backward compatibility ports - thank the Queen - and it was just a matter of finding the correct plug and jack to stick the probing wires into. The soldier skimmed through the data on the tiny display as it downloaded, the bulk of it observations and calculations on USD planetary force size, supply depots, and possible strategies that an invading Empire could employ.
Ha. Invade. Waging war against Earth in a traditional sense had been deemed too costly. Why waste the lives of their common soldiery when a few well-placed Elites at the core of USD command and Earth government could achieve total victory? There was the 'small' snag of the Super Saiyans inhabiting this planet, but Yakone held no love for Saiyans who had clearly turned their back on Vegeta in favor of Earth. They were mighty, but Yakone witnessed Zak's intense training firsthand, confident that they couldn't afford to stop them so soon after Liari's devastating assault.
Yakone tugged his interrogator back, intent on moving further into the primary data storage. That was where any exceedingly important information would be kept under lock and hermetic seal. Or he would've had a strange battle power not met him defiantly. "I should be asking you that," The Saiyan replied smoothly, tone neutral. His own light brightened immensely, allowing the two to see each other properly. Yakone stepped forward, tail unfurled, and kingdom emblem emblazed upon his jacket's chest. To him, this stranger looked like a human. An issue if they reported this place to the authorities. "You control The Flame..." He noted, mildly surprised. "My name is Yakone. Who are you?"

Casca was so far out of the loop as to remain an unknown figure hiding on Earth for a while. She only got to witness what she heard on the Earthling News, secondhand. So no doubt someone, Saiyan or not, would come looking through old files from the outpost in hopes of gleaning something about what happened now. Casca was there to just keep it safe. As it was made clear the man she talked to wasn't some walking monk stumbling upon an old site or human authorities, the faux saiyan would frown a little.
She had no tail or emblem to show, her vibrant hair and eye giving away she wasn't full blood at least. But even hybrids typically had a good sense to keep their tails, less they become filled with shame. She didn't hold herself timidly or nervously though. Casca would let her own flame grow a bit in response to show she had a similar gift to Yakone. Even if they came from very different places.
"Hmm..." He was here already. There was little point in refusing to speak when they were both in such a remote area with such a slim chance this was some ruse by a fake loyalist. "Casca." She didn't stop to wait and see if he was surprised by how she looked and the name lining up, opting to turn and lead him directly to the lit-up room with all the real good data inside. Opening the door and expecting him to follow.
"You're already up here, so get the hell inside. Wouldn't want to freeze your tail off." Whether she was to be trusted or not with no clear identification was up to the discretion of the Saiyan talking to her. Only those deep in the operation knew she was even there active still.

Yakone's stance remained confident, if defensive. He would not be responsible for a potential political misstep. The 'safest' option was to simply kill the weaker human before they had the chance to BECOME an issue, but Zaks' Empire made it clear times were different. The Saiyans were Empire builders, not barbarians. As the two exchanged initial tense pleasantries, Yakone was sure to slip his data interrogator into a hip side pouch, flipping the latch shut in case he needed to make some sort of quick movement. Fighting in an arctic base with sensitive electronics using mass amounts of fire was one of the LAST things he wanted. Even if he fried his enemy, the data would burn alongside it.
"Casca." He repeated, a slight edge of humor lacing the man's tone. "And here, the brass thought you'd abandoned your post or died along the way." Racist idiots. No use in throwing away loyal soldiers because they didn't have tails. The old files they had on Casca weren't extensive, but it did note her as a hybrid of a Human and some sort of dark being, likely a Demon. The closer he concentrated on her fire, the more Yakone could feel the difference. Hers was... natural. Magical. No doubt her darker heritage had something to do with it. The Flame was not talent - it was raw skill, converting Ki into pressure and heat. Most often, it was used for fire... but Yakone had developed it further to his own ends.
He stepped inside, removing his mask and lowering his hood to reveal stark black eyes and hair alongside a neutral heavyset frown. "Your dedication is admirable. If you haven't heard the news by now, an entourage of the Empire has arrived planetside. The former coward king has been deposed, and in his place is Queen Zaks. If you harbored or still harbor any personal allegiance to the old monarchy, say so now, and I won't speak of our interaction to anyone else." A very generous offer. The Empire considered such treason worthy of death, though whether Zaks would reform their law and punishment was up in the air. "My current mission is to fetch what data this outpost has accrued over the years and report to my superiors."
He'd look around, nodding at the well-kept nature of the powered bunker. Acceptable. "Many said my persistence in combing over dated mission files on Earth would be a waste. I can't imagine you've managed to make much headway with the USD on your own." He'd grunt, locking eyes with the woman. "Seeing as I'm no officer, you have the full right to refuse this suggestion and carry on with your mission until told otherwise by higher authority: but with the new Queen on the planet, I believe it best you accompany me back once we're finished here."

Demonfire. She didn't know much herself other than it was natural. A gift of her late mother. It was what made her strong, and kept her in line with the rest of her siblings back then. That, and being raised as a Saiyan, she knew not the weakness of her human half. She wasn't even aware of who her father was. Only that she did not matter enough to the Earthling to keep. So sure, there was plenty of reasons for the prejudiced to dislike her presence.
She was sure some of them would LIKE deserting to be the case. She's not unused to the sentiments her brethren did not see her as equal or worthy of the title 'Saiyan'. She was a mere grunt, dedicated fodder that could be put to work where they'd feel better losing her than one of their own. Yet, she only knew Vegeta and lived by the thrill and ways of battles. To this end Casca carried on as one of them.
"No doubt some of our kin do not see me as their own. It would have been easier on them if I turned tail." She held a rather neutral stance as Yakone stepped in and admired the place for all of a second. The faux Saiyan's serious tone added a bit of a furrowed brow only deepened as the man casually brought up a disposition. The old king was gone, replaced by a woman by the name of Zaks who wished to spearhead operations against Earth and its unjust presence back home. "Is that... true?" At first the hesitation might have lead Yakone to suggest she was only loyal to the previous rulers of the land, disheartened by overthrowing done by their own people.
"I go where my people need me. If I must kneel before a new Queen I will make haste to do so." Things were different, however, and she held no love for a weak King. "Whatever we have in there is information on Earth during the previous reign and then some. I've done what I can to maintain and update it with my small scope." Yakone was right on the money. it wasn't much, but it did keep her busy.
"I can help run through all of this if you're just copying it, expedite the process. I'll need to speak with the Queen if I am to continue work while this operation escalates." It was a simple matter

Yakone fetched his interrogator, flashing the device to Casca before moving to one of the nearby terminals. He needn't ask for permission to accomplish his crown-given mission, and so... didn't. The device beeped as he plugged a few cables in, the process much smoother now that the computers and databanks actually had power running to them. Even at his utmost suppressed, the woman was no threat to him. Most of her kind could quadruple or quintuple their battle power, still leaving Casca short of his. If at any point there was a betrayal or Yakone felt it necessary, he was fully confident the hybrid could be dealt with swiftly.
"It would've been easier for you, too," He noted calmly. "No doubt your appearance would make acceptance by Earth easy. Yet you did not. You stayed the course, and that proves you are truly loyal to the cause. Whatever sentiments other Saiyans held of you before... know that I'm glad to have found you." Yakone stepped away from the interrogator as it worked to siphon and cherry-pick usable data from the systems, the Saiyan gesturing. "If you feel manual sorting would help, feel free." The device would warn him if any tampering was done, so Yakone had no reason to be suspicious of Casca's intentions. She had no objection to rendezvous with the main force, and while Yakone was glad to have the opportunity, there was a snag.
She'd need to grow if he intended to induct the scout into their elite force proper. Her mission undoubtedly left her starved of battle and adequate training techniques. With a little effort and the right guiding hand, Yakone was confident he could raise Casca into fighting form in the short span of time they had before Zaks' declaration to Earth. "While we have the opportunity, I'd like to fight you." They were secluded. Free from prying eyes and potential danger, the harsh environment could be abated by the fiery source of power both of them employed. Admittedly, Yakone was also curious to measure himself against someone with such a similar power who WASN'T a disciple of The Flame. "You need to grow stronger, and I need to make sure you're combat capable in terms of skill. Advocating for you to join the Queen's entourage directly means your performance falls on my head."

Casca made no such threatening moves. In fact, she seemed to relax as Yakone took matters into his own hands. Lifting her own obsolete but very functional pad up from a table to begin compartmentalizing data that would have been too risky to be left unencrypted. Her manual sort would no doubt make the interrogator chug through the files easier. And they'd need it with the equipment on hand. The human would give a smile at the young man as he did his own due diligence to the Empire.
"Thanks. The easy way isn't the fun or right way though. So I just did what I was told, sir." The honorific, given how Yakone seemed to talk so freely about the rising empire and their queen, gave her reason to suspect she was talking to an Elite of some sort. or at least some higher-ranking officer, given the badge he clearly flaunted. Her suspicions would be made true rather quickly when the man brought up the idea that she, a mere scout prior, would be taken into rank as an Elite fighter. She's never had the honor, nor did anyone expect that of her before.
"You're serious?" She questioned for a moment before looking up from her pad. Jabbing a thumb into her own chest. "Me? For the Queen personally? I'll do it sir, but can't really guarantee I'd get the same benefits of training as you do. Trueblood and all." Jackie usually was confident when she knew she had some chance. But he dwarfed her currently. She wondered just how desperate they'd be to reach out for her of all people or if they really did see the talent behind that Saiyan upbringing beyond the blood.
"Cold doesn't bother me if you're game to do it out here while we are alone. Secluded enough to let us really let loose." She repeated what he was probably thinking already. "And maybe seeing something another fire wielder used would help me practice if nothing else."

"Yes. When I joke, a telltale sign is all around me bursting into laughter," Yakone replied dryly, a slight smirk tugging at his lips. "Let me be candid. We lack a strong core of soldiers at the moment, between those who still ally themselves with Braccus and USD rule against Zaks and the new empire. "Your battle power is low. Not high enough to be considered for leadership or Elite status in the old army. That being said, you are clearly loyal - and I have every intention of expediting your growth immensely." His fixed scowl returned as Casca talked herself down, citing that she wasn't a pure Saiyan.
"Saiyans are born with incredible talent. Power that comes naturally. Such is the way for every warrior race." The Saiyan glanced over the rapidly compiling data, ensuring the process ran smoothly. "You can achieve the same power as me. As any Elite. You just need to work harder for the same results. Are you willing to do that?" Despite Casca's help, the data interrogation was painfully slow. Siphoning and sifting through the important bits of years' worth of data would take some time. Luckily, the scout was on board for an impromptu training session.
"Good," He sighed quietly in relief. "We can go outside while this process is ongoing." Yakone took the lead, stepping back out into the glacial winds without complaint. It was cold enough to strike a human dead in minutes, but his natural battle power and use of the Flame kept Yakone comfortable enough. "This may seem patronizing... but we've had no tabs on you for years. Running through the basics again is a necessity to ensure you haven't lost form." Yakone took a deep breath, allowing his Ki to rush forth, bound in place by the immense weight on his body.
"You have not neglected ranged or physical in favor of the other, have you? Keeping both as a solid option will ensure maximum versatility on the battlefield." Yakone formed a fireball in his palm, tossing it off into the distance and watching it explode on a mountain. "And beyond that, it'd be a waste of energy. Every soldier has their physical limit and Ki limit that operate independently." He punched the ground with a heated fist, rumbling the nearby area gently. "Of course, you should know how to charge your Ki or rest your muscles to restore lost vigor..." A dark-purple aura enveloped Yakone for a split second as he stood stock still. "Remember that no enemy worth their salt will just let you charge."
He looked to Casca expectantly: "With that in mind. Throw three weak ranged attacks at me, if you would."

Well, most of Casca's life she was told that. Even as she fought the stigma, there were parts of growing up that made her regret not being a 'true' saiyan. Yakone was one of the fortunate yound ones who could see past all that and see some potential as a warrior in her own right. She didn't mean for the deprecation to sound like self-pity in all honesty, so she laughed at the man as she continued the work on this data.
"AM I willing? Of course! Just never got the chance with most of the old-timers back home! Hell, my own family figured I'd live out my days as a farmer, but look where I'm at now." Getting invitations to stand among warriors far stronger than her, and a new queen. Even if it was because they were low on actual manpower. "Just need the right guys to beat up. Good fights are what make you stronger in the end, learning along the way is a bonus." With the pair eventually settling the tech down to let automation fix the rest of this coded mess, Casca would lay her own pad down and nod towards her superior here. Following along back outside to the blighted cold.
She didn't immediately pull out a flame to keep herself warm. Devil blood was more than sufficient to bat off the worst of the windy cold at her strength. The faux saiyan would stand straight with the outpost to her back as Yakone rattled off basics to her. Going so far as to belittle her status as a fighter by running down basics. He'd notice those crimsons squint at him a little, but she wouldn't talk out of line. Instead watching the fireworks and eventually nodding.
"That's fine, we go at your speed, sir." Casca understood she was a lot weaker, but this stuff was almost cartoonishly basic for her. She felt like she would be fine without the immediate warm up but the player sure appreciates the sentiment. "I keep all options available, of course. I'm a warrior, I'd be dumb not to hone my power and stay flexible. Throwing that away would make for a lousy Saiyan."
On prompt, the girl would stretch a palm out towards the Elite Saiyan and conjure forth fiery orange ki blasts. The first priming itself almost as a warning before being let loose straight at Yakone. Then a few more were sent streaking down range at him. They were slow for him, but she didn't seem to be slacking in the range department, nor did she seem to exert herself doing such a simple attack.
"Easy!"
