Cold…
Empty…
Dark…
A void of nothingness was the only thing she felt for so long… for so many years. It was a feeling she had come to accept, ever since…
…Since…
Ever since what?
What had brought her to this void of existence in the first place? Was it an event of her past? An event that brought her to death? Banishment maybe? A world displacement? Whatever it was… this woman didn't know… she didn't remember. Anything.
Her past…
Her life…
It was all but a fuzzy memory…
All she could remember of her past life and what she might have been. All of what she remembered before being brought to this void, to this blackness… her name… all she remembered was her name. And her name was…
"Dezna."
Yes, that was… wait, she didn't say that. That wasn't her voice, she knew her own voice. What… who just said that?
"Dezna."
Her name rang a second time! Who knew her name to be calling it out like this? And why was it so demonic in presence? Worse yet… why did it feel so… familiar to her?
"Dezna."
The third time was the charm as Dezna finally was snapped out of the blackness and gasped for air, as she sat up from her supine position, holding her head a bit as she groaned, before looking around the area she was in… why was she in a cell? Was this… purgatory? Was she truly sent to hell? She took a look outside the bars. She is greeted with a hellish landscape, sprawling with creatures of various forms and sizes acting as guards, as well as many of them doing vile things to other people in other cells… this… this looked like Hell. As a matter of fact, it was Hell.
"What…? Why am I here…?" Dezna asked as she saw her situation, as she had no idea why she had been cursed to be in hell of all places… but more importantly… what was that voice just now?
"Dezna." The voice stated prominently in her head as Dezna snapped to see the source of the voice… which seemed to emanate from the blade.
'That blade… is it… talking to me?' Dezna asked herself with a tilt of her head.
"No. A mere memory speaks to you. For Dezna… that was the blade you wielded many years ago when you fought for your people." The voice spoke through the blade. "Your weapon that made you the Blackest Knight."
'The Blackest Knight…?' Dezna asked as it sounded… very familiar to her. The Blackest Knight… was that her title…? A title of her past…? She had so many questions…
"I know this must all seem very sudden to you… I know you have lost your memories. But now, in this realm, you must fight your way out of this Hell, and go to Earth. Find warriors. Fight with those warriors… increase your strength. This world needs you Dezna, no matter how vile they see you to be." The voice in Dezna's head spoke, again coming from the now glowing sword over in the pile of scrap heap.
'...What is the name of the sword?' Dezna asked.
"The name of your sword is Akuma Tenkaishi. Demonic Death." The voice in Dezna's head spoke firmly.
Dezna took a deep breath as she stood up, having a small inclination of what she needed to do as she took a deep breath and let herself connect with her sword, despite the restraints to her energy she had on as of that moment, as she soon raised her hand, as a demonic ki thread shot out, connecting with the sword as it hurtled out of the scrap heap, right into Dezna's hands as suddenly, a massive explosion rang out, causing sparking smoke to come from Dezna's cell as multiple guards rushed to the scene, with various weapons at the ready.
"What the hell happened!?" One of them yelled.
"I dunno, the cell just blew wide open though!" Another exclaimed.
"Keep your eyes open, we need this one contained for further experiments!" The leader of the squad yelled, before…
The blade that had shot into Dezna's cell shot back out, impaling a demon through the head before it shot back into Dezna's hands, as she had a cold look on her face, her power restraints gone as she looked at the force, as the squad leader's eyes widened.
"SHE GOT OUT OF THE RESTRAINTS, SEND IN THE-!" The Squad Leader tried to shout before Dezna slashed her through, and began to rip and tear through the other demons currently in the room, as many of them screamed in fear from the power on display by Dezna and her blade, as they either ran in fear or shakily tried to fight Dezna with all they had.
As more demons flourished in to try and contain Dezna, they could barely touch her with her ki based abilities with her sword, shooting sprays of ki blasts with her sword to blast away foes, while elongating her sword for other slashing blows that cut demons in half. She even utilized afar slashes to cut down her foes with the power of the sword, as she was untouched in the first waves of demons, as she scoffed.
"What a joke." Dezna scoffed at the fallen demon forces around her.
"Don't get too confident, Dezna. You must find and fight the elitest of elites, the ones with access to a planet called Earth." The voice in her head spoke to her.
"Right, you said that's where I need to escape to." Dezna nodded as she would rush off to continue her search for said elite demon.
As she patrolled the grounds she was in, stronger upon stronger demons charged at her to deal with her, but they, as with all other demons before, were struck down in an instant by the immensive power of Dezna and her blade. (Even if she was fighting in the weakest of weakest parts of Hell, but, that wouldn't make for a great escapee story now, would it?)
"Fire the cannons!" A demon would yell ahead as multiple cannons lined up to fire at Dezna as she halted in her tracks, wondering how she was going to avert this attack.
"Quick, slash vertically with your blade!" The voice in her head guided her.
Heeding its words quickly, Dezna slashed downwards, as suddenly, a construct of demonic aura appeared in front of her just as the cannons fired, and all the demonic energy was swallowed up whole by the construct.
"Wow… I could get used to this." Dezna smirked widely.
"But you already- oh… nevermind." The guiding voice in her head sighed as Dezna quickly rushed up and personally slaughtered each of the demons manning the cannons one by one, as her sheer one woman killing machine streak was sending all of the demons around her panicking at the fact of not what this demon wolf would do to them, but what their overlord might do to them if they let this escapee get out!
And so, what was their response! A massive, MASSIVE horde of demons that rushed Dezna all at once, as she smiled coldly.
"Good. I was hoping for a bit of a CHALLENGE!" Dezna smiled as she charged headfirst into battle with a wicked grin on her face and her bloodlust for battle was coming back to her, as she revelled in all the demon blood she was shedding in this very moment, as it suddenly took her back in flashing memories of her in the same armor she was wearing now, fighting hordes upon hordes of enemies with all she had with just as wide of a grin on her face. This felt familiar for sure, but damn did she enjoy it still yet!
The demons were landing blows on her, for sure, but being the weaklings they were in this particular part of hell, I don't know as if it was their fault they were getting this sort of treatment or just the fault of management, or hell, maybe management did it on purpose because these demons were so weak on the grandeur scale of things. Irregardless, these demons were heavily underprepared for Dezna's malicious style of fighting and her power level…
Malicious style of fighting? They were demons! They should be used to something like this! But… they were. It was just, this woman… no… this beast! No… demon! No… BEAST DEMON! This demon beast was wreaking havoc on the place, and nothing was standing in her way!
Dezna finally reached the elites area, where she was already going on a tear on those that rushed at her the moment she ran in, as she soon came face to face with the leader of the Elites, which appeared to be a demon woman with a staff in hand as she glared at Dezna.
"You think you can just go around and break out of our prison like some hotshot? I'll show you your place, scum." The woman spoke with malice.
"You're really coming at me like this when I took out all of your force? You really are asking for a Death wish, aren't you?" Dezna asked as she was ready to get her way out of this hellscape.
"Don't kill this one. She's your ticket to Earth." The voice in Dezna's head said.
'Yeah, pretty much got that.' Dezna replied in her head before getting ready to fight the Elite Leader, the two staring each other down, trying to feel out the other's first move.
Dezna would strike first, unleashing ki slashes from her blade at an extremely fast rate, as the Elite Leader dodged them, only to be met with a physical slash by Dezna, as she swung a few more times only for the Elite Leader to block and clash with her staff, as she warped back to get some distance, only for Dezna to immediately close it and land a harsh punch. The Elite Leader was taken aback by this as Dezna closed in and continued to unleash an assault on the one who was keeping her here in hell, as the Elite Leader could only block and dodge as best as she could from the oncoming attacks.
Dezna would then click her blade, as ranged slashes cut deeply into the Elite Leader, before she raised her hands up together. "Demonic Judgment Flash." Was all she said as a red ki beam shot at and connected with the Elite Leader, sending her into the wall as she growled in pain, at Dezna's mercy as all pomp and circumstance she had earlier had faded away to nothing.
"W-wait! I'll do anything you want! Anything at all! Just ask!" The Elite Leader exclaimed.
"Anything?" Dezna asked.
"Yes, ANYTHING!" The Elite Leader exclaimed with utmost fear in her voice.
"Okay, you made this a lot easier than I previously anticipated. I'm grateful for that." Dezna remarked. "Make me a portal to Earth. Close it behind me when I walk through."
"That's… that's all you really wanted after all this time??? You naïve little- We were going to- …Nevermind. Your request is granted." The woman said as she dropped from the wall, and opened the portal to Earth.
"Thank you. I apologize for the losses in your regiment." Dezna said, as this caught the Elite Leader completely off guard as Dezna walked through, as said Leader composed herself and closed the portal behind Dezna as she left. …Well, this was going to be a lot of paperwork and a lot of explaining to do to her higher ups, the Elite Leader of the lowest class demons hoped they were in a good mood today.
As Dezna stepped foot on the surface of Earth for the first time, she headed to a cliff like area, looking over a good portion of Earth below as she looked at it for a good long while. The voice that had been in her head wasn't there anymore, as she looked down across the Earth, seeing the destruction that was being caused all over the planet, as it caused her to look at it with utter disdain.
Was this… was this what Earth was? This… this place was… awful. It was… it was…
It needed a savior. It needed someone to be its savior when no one else could. But Dezna felt her blade… all power it had was attached to Hell, and now… it was reduced. Heavily. Only a scant number of techniques left…
That wouldn't stop Dezna. She needed to bring this Earth a Hero. A hero it desperately needed. And even if she may not look the part, she wanted to be that hero. Some way, somehow.
Even if she had to take the roll as a villain first in order to do it.
