The sounds of distant explosions could be heard, the roar of fires nearby and yelling of the injured. Cars were upside down in the middle of the street, people were scurrying as sirens sounded in the distance. This scene was but many across the city during this recent attack. The blue and red alien having unleashed attacks to destroy the nearby islands. People were in a panic while running about trying to get away from this super powered individuals.
Yet despite all of this, despite the chaos raging about the place, one small area was much calmer than others. The people there working together, remaining calm and the civilians pain were reduced. Taiyo who had been nearby when the attack began had begun to help the wounded or by escorting them to safety. After having helped the southern part of the town, Taiyo slowly rose to his feet after untying a rope that kept a boat on the shore.
Taiyo waving them good luck as the tiny body of about fifteen people began to sail away while other boats were being used as well. Few of them, but this people didn't have cars to escape in. Now that he had done some of his part in helping the people escape. The earthling put his hands in his pockets while he looked at the tiny dots in the sky. Sure he could cut cars up or smash bad guys... but those guys up there were monsters. He couldn't fight them even if he wanted to. Not that he could sense their strength or fly anyways. He would be jumping through the air swiping at his opponents like a flea while they fight.
He chuckled to himself as he thought of a possible solution... But that was for when she was properly distacted. Taiyo simply kept his hands in his pockets before slowly walking towards the fight, his eyes on the little black dots in the sky. Truthfully he didn't worry about dying, that wasn't the problem. The problem was making things worse... If he pissed her off and she decided to go full psycho... then Taiyo might be the cause of that.
Considering his options he kept walking forward. He suppose this was the dream after all... to help those in need. With a slow shake of his head, Taiyo was making his way to the fight.

Flying in, yet keeping a comfortable distance between the instigator of the fight, Zerori was keeping a watch over the city after feeling the sudden rush of power from a familiar foe. Liari had struck again, though Zerori was surprised that she’d kept herself in check for even this long. Had she taken a really long nap or had she merely decided to ‘vacation’ away from death and destruction. Either way, Zerori had no intention of trying to be some kind of hero. Not anymore. Not for South City, either. However, that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to use this opportunity to drum up a little support from the people that needed some kind of ‘hero’. So, away from the dangers of the battle, Zerori donned The Red Doll suit and modified her energy to be as indistinguishable as possible.
She even reduced her power down to half of what she was capable of - just in case she attracted a bit of… unwanted attention.
As she flew over the city, taking in the devastation and watching as the scattered remains of the population hurry toward the shores of the oceanside beach, the feeling of someone’s power (above the average of a Humans, anyway) caught her attention. She’d stopped, hovering a good two hundred feet in the air and well out of sight as she looked on with interest as someone helped survivors retreat upon boats. Behind the visor of her helmet, Zerori sneered as the oddly dressed man seemed to slowly make it way in the direction of the fight. “Oh, you are kidding me…” She muttered, half amused and half incredulous as she realized he was facing the direction of the fighters that were engaged with Liari.
With an incredulous scoff, Zerori would quickly descend to the ground before landing right in front of him - cracking the ground below her boots from the impact. With her face only half obscured by her newly repaired helmet, Zerori’s lower face could be seen as she spoke, “Hey there. Couldn't help but notice you were going in that direction. Not, uh… thinking about doing something stupid, are you?” She took a few slow steps toward him. “Because if you were I’d have to put a stop to that shit right now, friend. You don’t stand a chance in hell,” She crossed her arms, head cocked to the side with a grin. As she waited for his response, Zerori used the moment to size up the apparent... what were they called again? Samurai? She'd heard of them but, whether it was because they were uncommon or she just didn't have interest in their method of battle, never seen one before now. Well... not exactly true but she didn't consider Calot a samurai, either.

Taiyo kept walking, unaware he was even being watched. The human lighting a rolled up cigarette before resuming his slow march towards the fight. At least till the stranger in their weird gear landed in front of him, to which the human stopped with a clear look of surprise before he returned to his calm and collected expression. Smiling faintly as the woman asked if he was planning on doing something stupid, to which the man simply looked up at the little dots in the sky and then glancing at all the destroyed islands around them.
"Well... if I am frank..."
Taiyo stated as he returned his gaze to the stranger in question. This people could destroy their world they were standing on clearly if they can casually blow up islands like they were bubble wrap being popped.
"If I run... I'll probably survive if that blue thing doesn't just start killing everything alive..."
Taiyo stated as he grabbed his cig a moment and looked up at the dots all fighting up in the sky. He probably should stay out of it now... After all he might just get struck with a random attack at this point. He wasted to much time thinking about it. Oh well...
"But in truth I just don't see a reason to let someone get away with whatever they want. Even if I cannot fight them, I could at least buy someone a second maybe at most if I piss her off. Might help the other guys trying to beat em."
Taiyo shrugged before wondering if he would be blown up or defeated by a physical blow. He hoped it was an explosion, cuz at least he would die quickly... but then again he supposed if someone can blow up an island, a single punch would kill him. A chuckle as he thought about how absurd this whole ordeal was.
"But it seems they have gotten out of my range now... Oh well.... Anyways... Names Taiyo Kodomo. Nice to meetcha."
Taiyo stated before starting to walk towards the fight again, clearly now going to stop just cuz of death. It was clear this easy going man wasn't afraid of death and even when a stray blast lands a couple of yards away and blows up a building behind him, Taiyo doesn't flinch. He couldn't react to that blast even if he wanted to. It was like watching lasers fight, they were to fast to keep up with. He doubted now that they had started moving, he would ever get a chance to fight them.
"You should evacuate miss."
Taiyo simply stated as he walked past the lady and patted her on the shoulder. Taking a long drag from his cig while he kept walking forward. Both hands resting on the hilts of his Katana and Wakizashi blade.

Behind her helmet, one of Zerori’s eyebrows shot straight up at how casual this man seemed to be in response to her questions - and her very clearly intended intimidating entrance. Enough that she was actually intrigued by this man, even if he seemed to be way beyond his depth. She listened with the same patience she afforded a possible business partner and scrutinized him silently and without a change in her expression. Begrudgingly… Zerori had to admit to herself that he didn’t actually lack a point. Whether Liari was going to take her time and play with her opponents or decide that she’d had enough of this planet, there really wasn’t any place for anyone to run in the grand scheme.
It made Zerori wonder if there was more to why she never did kill everyone on this planet, given the wide berth of power between her and her opposition.
Fortunately, he seemed to leave well enough alone as he noted just how far away the fight had been taken. To that end, Zerori would give a sigh and finally speak, “You can call me Red. While I still think the decision was stupid, it comes from a place of experience.” She’d rather burn in actual Hell than admit that it ever came from a place of concern. As he continued on his way toward the battle, however, clearly not bothered by her presence or the very real threat of death that avoided him only by the grace of luck Zerori would turn her head to look at her shoulder as if it was an insect that laid there.
... Is he for real? Zerori thought, her shoulders tensing up gradually as she battled with the conflict of either letting him die or perhaps ending his life herself. The scent of a particular herb had caught her nose, making it wrinkle just a bit before she finally connected the dots. Wait, is he fuckin’ HIGH right now?! She whirled around, impressed and incredulous that someone would be so bold. Honestly, it was probably the ballsiest thing she’d ever seen in a man. Her grin returned, following him, “So should you but let’s assume we’re passed trying to convince the other to not make dumb decisions, yeah?” Coming up next to him, she attempted to gently bump shoulders with him in an affectionate manner.
Clearly, she’d decided to change tactics, “Since you're so fearless and wise; what other wisdom do you have to grace us mortals with?” If she couldn’t convince him to fuck off with trying to be a hero, she’d follow him around and pump him for information herself.

Taiyo simply walked on as the girl introduced herself as Red, his gaze on the fight in the sky but ultimately fell to the road a head. They would be beyond his reach by now. He could only imagine what sort of fantastic light displays they would show off. He was kind of envious if it wasn't a life or death situation. To see the spectacle of battle in all its passion but to know at the end of the day a friend awaited you, to help you up or.... to fall into the dirt exhausted with you. So that you might laugh together in joyous rapture of growing stronger together. But he knew it wasn't like that. It was a battle of cold cruelty, and the human could only hope justice won out... but even if it didn't, he would be ready to do his part. As Red approached from behind, he was brought from his thoughts as she replied in a rather cheeky manner. Cheeky enough to make Taiyo chuckled out loud before removing his now exposed joint from his mouth. When she asked what other wisdom did he have if he was so fearless and wise. To this Taiyo looked straight a head, walking slowly and patiently. "None..."Was all he stated as he kept walking, eyes occasionally glancing up to see if the other fighters could be seen... they could not be. "You see my dear... I cannot give you the advice for your life. I can tell you not do to something before it happens, but the advice is blunted... Its pointless to shout or even speak advice before its needed. Otherwise you get a hammer when a scalpel was needed. We are not machines built to be produced in mass..."Taiyo stated before taking another drag on his joint and looking away to tactfully blow the smoke away. He then returned his gaze to the girl and chuckled. "To be production chum to be chewed up. We are a beautiful exception to nature, and are capable of beauty only a true sentient can be capable of. We are mortals through and through. The best and most imperfect things to ever exist."Taiyo stated before going quiet while he looked out over the road, the long road that felt like it stretched on to infinity. Buildings littered the sides of the road like garbage, no one in them and abandoned. It almost felt dead save for the occasional "WHAMP" of some huge attacks shockwave that reverberated through the air. He had no wisdom to give, as any advice that wasn't meant for the moment... it was worthless. if one questioned all advice, then they would never achieve understanding... only paranoia. "We are all just trying to live our lives to the best we can... Do your best... Thats all I can say."With that Taiyo went silent, his hands resting on both hilts while he walked with a straight face. His smile was gone, but not his warm aura. His warm aura was still vibrating through the air like a giant beacon. He just wanted people to be happy, and for himself to achieve that happiness. No one needed to be left behind on that journey, we all just had to stop being so selfish.... Empathy: [ST1] Empathy: Taiyo is so well versed in the world and knowledge of it, he has a strong sense of empathy, or perhaps he was born with it. Regardless of its source, Taiyo projects his warmth to those about him. Like a suns kiss on the waves of a fresh morning. Warm and refreshing is his aura of empathy, effectively making him a living beacon but he doesn't mind it. The birds like him, and so do all the creatures of the wild due to his friendly disposition to life. However, this also has another effect of being the opposite when Taiyo has finally gotten pushed to far. A cold murderous intention is the persons replacement of sunshine should they push Taiyo to far. Like the cold grasp of a winter night, uncomfortable at first, and displeasing, but slowly becomes more distractingly painful as the cold settles in. Does no damage, but attacks the mental state for flavor with this aura.

Heh, I got a chuckle out of him this time, Zerori noted smugly before he closed his eyes and quite simply told her that he had absolutely NO wisdom to spare. WOW, stingy! She laughed to herself, taking what he said in stride as he extrapolated on what he meant. To his credit, she didn’t actually mind the rebuff because he had a point and she likely wouldn’t have taken his advice if he actually had any criticism for her. Instead she brought her arms behind her as they walked and, occasionally, would catch the incoming shine of a stray blast and with her forearm - block said blast with the ease that her armor provided. All the while, like a silent protector, she would continue to look at him as he spoke.
In between sage-like sentences, Zerori would chime in, “Huh. You know, that’s actually not bad advice. In an ‘absence of evidence’ kinda way,” While he continued, even going so far as to not blow the smoke in her face which was quite gentlemanly of him, Zerori had to hold in a snort at the almost poetic manner in which he described mortals and she held a hand to her mouth to stifle it. “Sorry, sorry - I’ve never heard of it explained so… so beautifully before,” The fragility of mortality was apparently something both philosophers AND warriors thought deeply on.
Zerori wasn’t sure she’d ever understand it. Yet, the longer she walked alongside him - even as his smile was long gone from his face, there was a sense of peace as he trudged on step-by-step with his swords at the ready. Ensorceled by this feeling, Zerori felt more relaxed than she had in… weeks? Months… Ever since that day in East City. She paused for a moment, bringing a hand to her chest as she just basked in this warmth that radiated from within her chest. What… is this? She looked back up at him, watching his retreating back as she walked on.
She didn’t want to be left behind while feeling this way - whatever… this was. Walking a little faster, Zerori managed to catch up and look at him again, “Hang on,” Her voice sounded audibly softer now, much less sharper as she didn’t feel the need to bring that barbed wall up against Taiyo. She was swimming in waters of uncertainty, the walls of her heart forcibly shut down by his passive pacifism, but with the knowledge of how most smokers enjoyed their time with the addiction Zerori pointed to the joint in his hand. “Would you… mind if I-?” God, she sounded weak and uncertain but hell if she just... didn't feel the nee to be such a bitch right now. Besides, a drag now and again might do her some good. God knows why she never tried the stuff after college, but as the saying went: Better late than never, right?

Taiyo walked on, listening to her replies in kind with silent nods of his own. The journey of a thousand steps, it all begins with the first one. And even then, the journey never ended there. The man silently walking ever onwards, and he wondered... How many had made this journey before. The time that spanned the universe, people of all different origins and pasts beginning out their journeys. He wondered... would his journey have a good end or a bad one? No, such thoughts were beneath him. What will be will be, and what he was meant to be, he will become. No need to think on all that negative energy. When the girl asked him to hang on, her voice different than before. The Human slowed down to look at her and let her catch up to even their stride out once more. He cast a concerned gaze her way and when she asked if she could take a hit. The man handed her the joint, most of it intact still. Roughly seventy five percent of it remained and Taiyo allowed her to take it from his hand. "My dear you may keep it. I have plenty. So why not share with a stranger and make a friend her?"With that Taiyo kept walking, letting the silence of the day fill the voice. Their footfalls echoing besides the sounds of battle up a head. Clearly people were struggling with some conflict unknown to him. Whether the girl knew or not was for her to know. He had no quarrel with those up in the sky besides the destruction they brought. While it did upset Taiyo to a degree, he could not enforce his will to bring them to justice anyways. So no point getting upset about it. "While I do not know the reason for this battle in the sky... I pray it is for a good reason so that the lost lives today have weight..."Taiyo then came to a stop before holding up one hand in a half praying stance. The weight of the lost and damned weighted heavily upon Taiyo, as such upon the world about him. Like water surrounding him, the rippling of sadness could be felt. Like a sea of despair the dead rang out to him and they in turn reached into this world through his feelings. A feeling deep lose permeated the air like heavy rain on a morning of sorrowful mourning. "and they find peace in the after life... May those who did this find justice, but above all else... may their suffering be at an end so that they might embrace the warmth of life."With that the tides of Taiyo's mood changing pulled the sorrow of the world away. It was replaced by the joys of life, the peace of just being here once more. Taiyo lowered his hand before continuing to walk, not saying anything else as they trudged along. How many lives had been lost this day, and for what reason? Wars of man are waged for things such as resources, and the destruction it use to bring was devastating. But thankfully they had gotten over that now... But to think so much death over such a small problem he was sure could be solved if they just talked it out and listened. The road they were on eventually curved towards the sun, light shining on them both and in its almost blinding brilliance the fight from before could be vaguely seen. Heavy was the weight of those with power, and Taiyo could only watch as they tore each other a part... He saw them as our beacons, and to watch heroes of power such as this just... tear each other apart... It was tragic. They could do such good with their powers but Taiyo knew deep down... We all make our choices and sometimes the darkness needs its victims. Slowly lowering his head, the human's eyes obscured by the shadows, he thought about the torment the murderer must have felt to become this ruthless. He wondered if they were always heartless or were they made heartless? Was the world so cruel as to create something as nasty as a murderer of millions? Yes, and Taiyo knew so long as man had evil in their heart, be it alien, or human... People like that blue creature would always arise. But those who oppose her also arise, forged in the fires of conflict to be the shields of the innocent. "It really is cool how they can fight in the air like that. Wish I had super powers like that. I could have saved more people."Taiyo stated as he finally went back to his casual stride. He wanted to help so bad it hurt inside, but he also knew deep down... He would just get in the way. He also knew it would all work out in the end... and maybe even if Taiyo died, the universe goes on. Hope will always persevere even should the final light go out... New lights will always keep coming back and stronger than ever.

She knew she wasn’t the most amicable to him; most of the time she wasn’t even nice to people she cared about. There was a lot of baggage attached to why that way but it wasn’t something Zerori ever liked to unzip. Painful, draining and above all it was just… unnecessary. So when Taiyo had turned to her and actually offered the entire blunt in spite of there being so much, the armored woman couldn’t help but feel a little moved. Blankly, she stared at the offered medicinal and, with a soft chuckle, reached up to take it between her index and thumb. “That’s kind of you,” She returned softly before bringing it to her lips and taking a slow but deep inhale. The effect it had on her was nearly immediate, having already been a recreational smoker. Her heart rate slowed and the smoke as it escaped through her nose as if she were a dragon was like a little bit of hell before the heaven.
Memories of her time in college, working on the technology and practicing her manifestations, returned like the swell of a wave. She didn’t know what Taiyo was doing to her by being in his presence, but with the potent combination of him and the smoking was a one-two punch of relaxation. One she hoped to remember and utilize in the future. As she took a second hit, enjoying the feeling of warmth, she listened to Taiyo. Briefly, she felt that burden of pain return as she knew who it was who was up there. Knew most of them, anyway…
Ayu… Liari and… and was that-?
Zerori’s eyes followed the direction Taiyo’s gaze was in, her own expression (while half hidden) was a mask of surprise and shock as she realized that Callion had joined the fray after so long. She never knew where he went but, given that he said he was trained by space monks, she thought he’d left the planet all those months ago. The weight of those in the battle before her, the prayer Taiyo had made for the one who died in battle, and the effect of whatever the fuck was happening to her semed to build and build until-
The soft choke of a sob escaped her, barely caught and stifled as she quickly turned away with a fist to her mouth. It was quick - fleeting - but enough to break the dam of emotions not even Zerori knew she was holding in, “I’m… such… a fucking coward,” She hissed between trying to soften the gasps of a sob. In front of a stranger (a friend) she was losing her shit (the walls are down) and for no apparent reason (inhibitions reduced) she was going to cry right in front of him? She fought to swallow, the lump in through nearly asphyxiating her, before she spoke, “Forget I said anything, please, I-” She released a shuddering breath and tried to shake her head of the influence.
The silence that stretched was long enough to sharpen her resilience, a weight lifting from her once more that was almost as tiring as the burden of her guilt before she forced a laugh and sniffled to clear her nose and hopefully speak with less emotions, “It’s not that hard. You can do it,” She encouraged, stepping into him and rib into his side with an elbow. Her smile was strained, forced to push past this roller coaster of sensation and overstimulation. She handed the blunt back to him, through with it for the moment, “You can save anyone you want - but if you threw your life away and became the victim you tried to save, you’ll be no good to anyone.”
She reached up, taking the helmet in her hands to unclip its sides and raise it above her head. Blue eyes, sharp spiked black hair and a scar that ran from the side of her left eye down to the side of her chin was plain to see. Her smile, tired as her soul, reached her eyes to show a dull ache within them. “Surviving to live another day to get stronger is a way to save people. That’s what I’m trying to do… in some, probably ass backward way.” She sighed through her nose, looking back to where she could still feel everything.
"... Don't tell anyone, Taiyo." She hoped he would understand what she meant.

Taiyo's eyes trailed over to the girl as she spoke, her words of sorrow reaching his ears as he looked at her with deep concern. Such a terrible burden for this children, to carry so much strength and be so young. She was probably no older than twenty one he had to guess maybe a little older? Maybe she thought she had to protect this world and all those upon it? Maybe she was scared to fight but knew she had the power to stop what was going on? Taiyo couldn't be sure, he couldn't sense energy or fly. He was just a mortal man.
Slowly the sword monk put his hand on the girls back before patting her a few times in a reassuring manner before turning his gaze to the people up in the sky.
"I don't think you are a coward for being right where you should be."
Taiyo stated before pulling a joint from his pocket and lighting it up once more. His face turning orange as the lighter light up his features a moment. Then when he took a long breath, smoke blowing from his mouth, the human stopped walking a moment. Standing up straight but with a look of carefree abandon.
"Not everyone... I know this to be true. I do not delude myself on fantasies despite my... inhibited state. I know that this world is a cold and cruel place. But it is our light that makes it warm. I just try to keep people from blowing out others candles."
Taiyo then took a long drag of his joint while he stared at the ground. He wondered how many of them up there was past their thirties, who could be considered full adults. Taiyo looked up at the fighting and sighed a long weary sigh.
"I wonder how many of those people up there are your age miss? You guys shouldn't be fighting death battles at your age... You should be out dating or being silly like wasting money on sports cars not..."
Taiyo then looked to the girl before gesturing to her armor and death gear.
"Walking around like a soldier... I... I wish..."
Taiyo tried to speak his thoughts but ultimately failed, his hands mid air as he froze mid sentence only to drop them in defeat. He supposed he didn't really know how things were suppose to be. He wasn't a god, he didn't know the first thing about who those people were. Maybe there was a valid reason for all of this but... Taiyo struggled to believe that. He didn't like the idea of twenty year olds who should be finding love and finding themselves are using deadly techniques to kill each other. He felt sickened that no one had stepped up to stop them but he simply couldn't imagine anyone could if they could blow up islands.
As his high was renewed, the old man leaned his head back and let out a long drawn out breath of smoke into the sky. This breath of smoke like a dragons breath of smoke as it bellowed in the wind. Great black waves of it emitting from Taiyo's mouth for a moment before his eyes returned to their half lidded calm. The man turning to the woman before shrugging. His words were gone, but he didn't blame the girl. He just wished he could help those who hurt inside.

The longer Zerori stood out in the open with her helmet off, the longer the feeling of being vulnerable to attack wore down on her psyche. She wasn’t sure what she expected from Taiyo after she’d put herself out there. Maybe it was the effect of the drugs or just how Taiyo was able to affect her but what she didn’t expect was for him to give her a pat on the back as if she were some youthful child. True, he might have been older than her but Zerori had been on the front line of battle and the criminal business for years at this point. Long enough to feel like it really hadn’t only been four or five years. The manner in which he had even described her with her armor was almost… painfully on the nose.
She remained silent, not wanting to say anything more on her slip-up that’d tried to alleviate with the balm of calm assurance. A brief but awkward silence had spread between them as Zerori had taken a moment to look toward the battle with her cerulean eyes hard with contemplation. How many up there were her age? Liari was… well, she didn’t know. Ayu was around her age but she didn’t experience the same things Zerori did against Liari. Or did she? Honestly, she hadn’t seen Ayu in so long and she’d even purposefully stayed in hiding so what if she had even left Ayu to face Liari alone in her cowardice?!
Heart rate picking up in the rush of her overthinking, Zerori was only calmed once more by the smell of the smoke wafting between them and was reminded that she still had her own blunt in her hand. Taiyo had made good on his intention to have her keep it as he had lit one of his own. Looking back up at him, having noticed his frustrations, Zerori would give a heavy hearted sigh before she brought the unlit end to her lips and took a long drag. The heat soothed her, the high consumed her once more and though her heart was still heavy she’d turn and take a seat on an overturned piece of rubble that broke off from a building nearby.
She placed her helmet on the ground and, with her opposite hand, materialized a container with her magic. “C’mon,” She urged, feeling the hunger that was egged on by the drug - a rather expensive side effect for her Saiyan genes. Setting it on the ground, Zerori flipped a clasp one side and then the other before it opened to reveal a container of food. By this point, the fight had long since left the city in shambles but far enough away that it could convalesce for the time.
Zerori reached in and pulled out a sandwich, still as fresh as the day she made it, “I’m eating and I’d prefer not to eat alone,” It wasn’t an answer to either of their questions and hardly an answer, but it was the best she could offer.

Taiyo must have seemed like he was scolding her, as she soon backed down like a struck puppy. The sword monk's eyes softening as he realized his mistake. It wasn't their fault, he didn't mean to make it sound like it. He felt bad for his words as the girl slowly sat down, having taken her time to stare into the sky. He wondered if she knew any of them, if she had comrades up there. Would make sense, she was down here and feeling conflicted. Taiyo was glad she was here, he would be dead without her assistance.
"Yes, no problem."
Taiyo would also find a piece of debris to sit on, only for it to crumble beneath him and the sword monk soon found himself seated in stones. He blinked once or twice before chuckling in embarrassment. Slowly brushing all the loose debris away, Taiyo made a back prop from the broken stone. Now able to lean back while he relaxed and ate, the sword monk looked to the sky one last time to double check if they were safe. Yea, so it would seem. The blue one had done something to draw their attention he was sure.
"I did not mean to sound as if I was scolding you miss...?"
Taiyo realized he hadn't caught her name nor her his. Adjusting his jacket as he leaned back and got comfortable, his smile genuinely happy despite the situation. He was just glad to be here.
"My name is Taiyo Kodomo. Its nice to meetcha."
Taiyo stated as he wondered what sort of food the girl was going to eat. He wasn't going to ask her for any, as he didn't believe in asking for things nor did he expect anything from anyone. He was just glad to have company.

With a smile softer than she was used to giving these days, Zerori was grateful that Taiyo didn’t feel guilty enough to refuse and watched as he approached an outcrop of debris that looked sturdy enough to her. Well, apparently like all things the appeared to be deceiving the rocks seemed to fool even her as Taiyo found himself soon sitting in a PILE of rubble that couldn’t handle his weight. Holding the sandwich in her hand for a few awkward seconds, Zerori would then find herself throwing her head back in a peel of laughter that had her actually breaking out into snorting a little - an embarrassing effect that she struggled to stifle. “O-Oh fuck-!” She tried to suppress her laughter but every bit of silence seemed to suddenly push her mirth back to the forefront and she leaned over in wheezing laughter.
When she finally was able to get control over herself, Zerori would bring a hand up to face and wipe away a stray tear, “Holy shit, that was hilarious…” She couldn’t remember a time she’d laughed so hard. Or she could but she didn’t know why or remember what brought it on. The moment was slightly regulated as Taiyo seemed to apologize for something that Zerori wasn’t at all concerned about. To make that clear, she waved off his words before a moment of silence passed and she realized that the pause in his sentence was an invitation for an introduction.
Again? It was at this point that Zerori realized that she'd opened with her title, the lapse of judgement a momentary burden before she threw that caution to the wind.
Fearing another bout of laughter, Zerori snickered before throwing a sandwich at him and giving him a teasing leer, “You’re fuckin’ high, you breadbasket. I’ll play along, though!” She laughed, thinking that he was just making light of the situation or he was too goddamn high to remember the last five minutes, “Zerori,” She reintroduced, this time with a much more easy-going smile before she pulled out another sandwich, “Nice to meet you, too, Taiyo.” She didn’t know how one man could be so disarming and unnervingly charming, but she couldn’t deny that she was glad to have come out here to protect his ass.

Taiyo simply laughed alongside Zerori when she found his fall humous. He did too frankly but he was also glad she was willing to introduce herself once more to him as he had forgotten her name and introduction completely. He smiled in a goofy ball fashion, not displeased to having made the mistake. Clearly Zerori found it funny, so he didn't mind it at all then. Taiyo would catch the sandwiches only to immediately begin eating, his eating like a ravenous beast. Taiyo hadn't eaten all day, and had been high all day. One could only guess the hunger he must have been holding back.
Taiyo finished the sandwich in under a few minutes, enjoy its taste before sighing happily and leaning against the rock. His eyes looking to the sky while he let his food settle.
"Heh, that was good. Thank you Miss Zerori."
Taiyo stated, letting his head fall to the right so he was looking at her while he was leaning back lazily. He didn't know if she had made them or perhaps if they were store bought. Regardless, he was thankful for the meal.
"So then Zerori. What do you? Mercenary?"
Taiyo asked, Gesturing towards her clothing in general only to chuckle. He supposed it was obvious and maybe she had told him already. Whichever had happened, he kept his smile and folded his hands into his lap along with his legs crossing each other as he lay out on the side walk. His rough homeless look almost fitting in with the destroyed city. He probably looked like a post apocalypses survivor.

While Zerori was satisfied that the vibe between the two of them had become light and unobtrusive, nothing could have prepared her for the almost dualistic manner in which Taiyo absolutely DESTROYED his sandwich. For a moment, she just stared with eyes wide as the simple lunch was devoured in a matter of minutes. Holy SHIT, She noted, her shocked expression soon turning into a look of approval as she grinned at him lopsidedly. A man after my own heart. She noted with a shake of her head before she looked down at her own sandwich to take another bite.
Only for the ring on her finger to catch her attention, the golden band glinting ever so often in the shine of the sun or the artificial light of what lamps were working along the city streets. It wrought the familiar feeling of having had something strong and close… but the face of the person it belonged to still evaded her memory.
Taiyo’s voice was what tore her from the momentary reverie of her mind - prompting her to look over at him before the smile returned to her face, “I’ve got plenty more where that came from! If you can believe it, this small device can actually feed a single person for weeks… given they packed it properly.” And she spent HOURS making these sandwiches before keeping them perfectly preserved in the cooler. The device wasn’t too different to the encapsulation technology that Capsule Corp was so famous for but there were perks to having snuck in to gather the secrets from behind the scenes.
She looked down at her armor briefly as he gestured to it while inquiring about her job, to which Zerori would give a thoughtful, 'Hmmm’ before she sneered down at him wittingly, “You could say that. I’m a bit of a few things, actually. Some classified and some not,” She chuckled before moving to lean down and placed her arms over her knees. “I’m… an inventor, sorta. Take bits of this and bits of that and make something new with it,” She scratched the side of her face, “Tryin’ to get a business off the ground for the uh… entrepreneurs of the world. Anyone that needs an opportunity but is afraid of what it can cost them.” Being vague about what she’d dreamt of creating for years and still STILL being so far from it’s realization was difficult. It wasn’t like telling a story that had already happened with details still vividly in her mind.
It was like telling a stranger what she wanted to be when she grew up.

Taiyo hadn't noticed the golden band on her finger till just a moment ago, where he let his eyes settle upon it. A simple ring or an engagement band? The man's eyes softened as he looked at it, thinking of his own wife in that very moment. Her smile as he held her in his arms for the final time, the sound of her heart monitor flat lining and the rushing of doctors. The sword monk's smile became faint, his own memories surfacing for the moment only to be returned by Zerori continuing to speak.
Taiyo listened with full attention as the girl spoke of something vague, but seemed passionate about it. The man placed a hand to his chin in thought as he looked the girl over. Was she just that driven at a young age or did she have to grow up because of life?
"That gold band on your finger. You engaged or something young miss?"
Taiyo asked, clearly interested but also willing to step back by his tone. It was him being nosey sure, he had no business asking, yet the concerned part of him wished to know. What had this young lady been through? He would take another sandwich as he began to eat much more slowly this time, enjoying his meal now that the promise of more was present.
"Much appreciated Zerori. You are a blessing today. Saved my life and offering me a meal? My dear, you truly spoil this old man."
Taiyo stated with a chuckle to try to lighten the mood. They were enjoying a relaxing meal after a very scary moment. Alone in this destroyed part of the city, they were at least able to take comfort that their solitude meant no further deaths would happen. Leaning his head back against the rock while he sighed his tired and weariness. He hadn't realized how much walking he had done today. Running here when he heard all the bad stuff happening must have taken more out of him than he thought.
Amongst tragedy did he find rest, his heart finally settling down as he let the process of healing take place. Taiyo knew the five stages of grief, but he was keenly aware of his own strengths and weakness'. He couldn't have saved more even if he wanted to, he accepted this. But the heart weighed heavy for the lose of life today. Islands of people, hundreds of souls lost... Rubbing the bridge of his nose, the sword monk closed his eyes while trying to relax. His high was coming down, he was feeling really sobered up and able to think clearly. He could feel regret welling up in his heart, and sorrow as well.
Quickly, the sword monk would take out another joint paper to begin rolling him and the girl some more. He had a clear baggy full of the stuff and was clearly content to share. They wouldn't be running out tonight if Taiyo had anything to say about it. As he rolled he would wait patiently for Zerori to respond.
