She had expected the conversation to possibly lead in the direction of more questions, given she elected not to answer to any degree of detail, but not… exactly in the direction Taiyo chose. Mid-bite to her sandwich, Zerori stopped at the mention of her band and, as if noticing it for the first time, brought her sandwich back down to stare at it contemplatively. He didn’t mean anything by it, she was certain of that but she couldn’t help the slight grimace on her face as she unconsciously tried to reach for the memory of the ring. There, kneeling before her, was most certainly a man. He was strong, he’d been there for her when she needed him but still - as always - the face was obscured and her gentle reach for anything: A name, a face, a familiar feeling of acknowledgement… came back absent.
“I-...” Zerori started, blinking suddenly as she forced herself back to the reality of today. She looked back at Taiyo and gave a nod, “Married.” She didn’t elaborate further, either because she didn’t want to lie about it or because it was a boundary she was unwilling to open to him. She took the opportunity to enjoy his praise, smirking at him, “I know! I’m just an angel in disguise,” She delivered with a wink before she continued with her own sandwich. While she was enjoying his company and, among other things, making sure he was safe from the battle that had long since moved to a different part of the city… there was a sense of impending dread.
She’d decided what her next course of action would be as Taiyo had settled down peacefully and began to roll out another blunt - as always, he’d offered her some for her to roll herself. A moment of hesitation was all she gave before she took the baggie and began to roll up one… before she held it in her hand and made it disappear to a place only she could reach. It was stored safely for a rainy day; whenever she needed it, Zerori would fondly look back on Taiyo’s generosity and pacifist nature and find some solace in the pain of her stupidity.
Until that time, though, Zerori would magic away her little device and look down on Taiyo with a grateful half-grin, “Another time. I’ve got a lot of work to do, but do me a favor and try to stay out of trouble?” She had a feeling such a request would be lost on him but that was fine. Danger seemed to find people like them. With that said, Zerori would take her helmet in hand and stand from make shift bench. The moment it would come down to cover the top half of her face, Taiyo would notice her energy (if he could sense such things) to feel odd and unfamiliar. “I’ll see you around, alright?” She declared firmly, making sure her tone sounded more confident and commanding than she had sounded like for most of the conversation.
With a final smile, she’d turn with a wave over her shoulder and take off. The fight might have moved on but Zerori was sure there were more people that needed help.
