Notes here. @tagged WC: #### TWC: ### | South City High was a fairly quiet school, with very ordinary day-to-day occurrences. While some schools had incredibly advanced science programs, or martial arts teams, South City High just had normal classes and teachers… There was one oddity however, one student who was far different from the rest.
Maki, a junior in high school, was the subject of a few different rumors. Most other students knew he was a martial artist, and with that kind of attention came popularity. The young man would find himself walking down the halls, followed by a small group of other students asking about his training. “What sort of martial arts are you doing, Maki?” “Where do you train Maki?” “How long can you do push-ups for Maki?” Sometimes the questions seemed endless. The earthling could only shake his head and chuckle a bit at the commotion.
In an attempt to calm down the students following him, the grappler would explain “Look. I don’t fight for attention. I do martial arts because I enjoy it… I go to the local MMA gym on 37th Street, Bruno’s. If you want to learn how to fight, they can teach you all the basics.” Somehow, his classmates didn’t seem all too pleased at that response. Either way, the crowd of followers soon dispersed.
There were many downsides to attention. While most enjoyed Maki’s company, and supported his status, others certainly didn’t. As the young man began his daily walk to the gym after school, an angry voice would be heard from around a street corner. “Ay, Maki. You’re the tough guy everyone’s on about!?” A man slightly older than the earthling would round the corner, dressed in a black leather jacket and accompanied by two others. He would pull a cigarette away from his mouth as he spoke, “Well, well, well, ole Mrago finally gets his eyes on you… Don’t seem so tough… Boys!” The young man would snap his fingers, causing the two behind him to lunge forward at Maki. To their surprise, the boy would just stand there as the crew of bullies let out a barrage of punches. In actuality, the strikes were less than bug bites to someone like himself. After a few minutes of constant attacks, Maki would smirk at the new exhausted assailants. “Giving up so soon fellas? That’s really disappointing. I guess I’ll see you three at the same time next week.”
With that, the teen would begin whistling as he continued walking right past the attackers. Mrago, in visible shock could only mutter to himself, “y-y-ya, got lucky this time kid!”
