The sun was setting upon the horizon and the evening was cold; a cutting wind blew through the city, howling as windows screeched upon its passing. In spite of this, as the light of the sun gave way to the encompassing darkness of night, the City would suddenly come to life as buildings lit anew with colors of neon. From bars to casinos, night clubs and more, the night owls of East City had awoken for business and pleasure in equal parts. Rhapsody however, was interested in neither; she'd arrived in the city only a couple hours ago, and had been intent to procure a snack after several prior hours of meditation. Upon entering a twenty-four hour convenience store however, she would find herself distracted by a wall of literature; the books were far more interesting than those that could be found in her village, featuring far more pictures than words, in a black and white, six to eight panel design. Having finally finished another of the soft covered books, Rhapsody had finally taken notice of the sudden darkness; she'd quickly procured her snack of choice, and took to exiting the store to return to the forest nearby. Rather than take flight immediately tho, she couldn't help but to take a special interest in the many lights that flooded the city. The colors and sounds were mystifying, though surprisingly the majority of it all only took place in a small few blocks rather than the city as a whole. As mesmerized as Rhapsody was, she'd also began to become a bit dazed and confused as she walked; the experience beginning to overwhelm her senses due to how new it all was. She would wander into an alley, unaware of the eyes that had fallen upon her, or the figures that slowly stalked her from behind as she stumbled about. Within the alley, away from the flashing lights and loud noises, Rhapsody had intended to take a moment to collect herself. She'd continue walking down the alleyway, coming upon a dead end and stopping just a few feet away from the wall. Taking a deep breath to calm herself, Rhapsody would reach into her bag to remove her snack, only to stop short as her ears would twitch at the sound of approaching footsteps, causing her to turn around. "Well now!" A slender man, around six feet tall and blond would call out, "W'as a stray little kitty cat like you doin' all alone out 'ere, eh?" He'd ask as he revealed himself from the shadows; clad in ripped jeans, studded boots, and a black leather jacket. Before Rhapsody could respond, she would quickly take notice of the six other guys that would stroll up behind the man, each with varying appearances, but similar fashion sense. As naive as Rhapsody was, she hadn't immediately perceived the group before her as any form of threat; however that didn't make their low laughter and sharp grins any more appealing. As the cool night of the city, rife with the cutting winds of a possible incoming storm ravaged the city-goers, none were privy to the denizens of the night that could spawn from the literal depths of Hell. One such Demon woman would soon be among them. However, since Zerori was rather… new at such abilities, her accuracy at pin-pointing where exactly she wanted to be left something to be desired. On her end of the dimension, Zerori had tried her best to replicate how Maycair had taught her to open a portal to return to Earth - adding a bit of her own flair for effect. However, as she’d reached forward with both hands - still armored up in her Red Doll ensemble - the rip she had tried to create in the fabric of space and time proved to be VERY unstable. She had to struggle just to get a good grip on the tether before slowly ripping it open to reveal the reality she’d deigned to travel to!
On the other side of the portal, the vision would certainly prove to be quite a terrifying sight.
Within the darkness of the alleyway, the slight sound of something being warped or bent under pressure could be heard before two sets of fingers could be seen from against the wall just behind the winged woman. Slowly, and with obvious strain, the fingers would pull away reality to reveal a tall, armored woman on the other side - her form hunched over briefly as she stepped through before she stood at her full height of 5 feet and 10 inches, easily towering over Rhapsody as she leered in from behind her.
Zerori looked up, her visor covering the top half of her face and leaving only her mouth visible as she snarled up at the scene that played out before her. It didn’t take a genius to observe within the first few seconds that something unscrupulous (and irritatingly familiar) was happening within the first few seconds of her returning to her hometown of East City.
From behind her visor, shining malevolently, Zerori’s eyes glared a bright red as she stepped up and released the sides of the portal to slam shut behind her rather violently. Whether or not she’d surprised the woman in front of her, Zerori didn’t hesitate to speak loud but with as much threat as her voice could muster, “Well now,” She’d parrot the words of the apparent leader, her aura bleeding out a blood red as she spoke. “What’s a pile of no life punks doing in a dirty alley like this? You wouldn’t happen to be up to no good...” She cracked her neck, her lips turning upwards into a grin as she finished, “-would you?”
A moment later, Zerori would look down from her nose at the woman with… admittedly cute cat ears and a pair of wings before speaking, “Is everything alright here?” Her tone a bit softer than before but still firm, she tried to maintain an aspect of calm, collected and cool. As she typically tended to do around a beautiful woman, Rhapsody being no exception.

The group of men would begin to step forward, as if taking a circling formation as the cut off the chance of escape from the alleyway. no sooner did they begin to move however, did they freeze in place at the sight of what was happening just behind the winged little girl. The color of the wall would distort, as creaking and cracking began to echo down the alley; an ominous hue of a light would begin to illuminate the scene as the slight glint of armored fingers broke through the darkness that was steadily enveloping the wall. The eyes of the each within the group of men would widen, while the leader reversed course and began to slowly step back. "Wh-what the hell!?" The leader of the gang would exclaim as deep, dark words began to join in echoing down the alley. While soft, the tone of these words felt much sharper than that of the gang leader; a cold air began to fall upon the alley, though it seemed to be a chill only apparent to the group who were witnessing the sight. With the final words of this new arrival spoken as she ripped her armored form out from within the dark portal, lightning would flash above, partially illuminating her intimidating self and amplifying her visage as she stood towering over Rhapsody from behind. Rhapsody would turn around, curious as to what the group had suddenly locked eyes onto, only to bear witness to the sight of Zerori as she looked down upon her and as about the situation. Though confused, Rhapsody would quickly take a step away from the armored individual; realizing it must have been quite rude to be so up close inside this individuals personal space. She had no idea where the person came from, but believe that she must not have noticed her while in such a daze state from before. She would give the individual a kind smile as she readjusted her posture and attempted to answer the woman. "Oh yes! I was jus-" Rhapsody would begin, before being immediately interrupted by the group of men. "MONSTER!!!" One of the men would yell as he quickly turned tail and ran out from the alley. "DAAAAHHHH!!!! IT'S A GHOST!!!" A largest of the men would follow suit, before inevitably running as well; with the rest of the group following quickly after with terrified screams, all save for the leader. "Say- wha-!? You idiots! Don't just leave me here!!" The leader would shout as he attempted to chase after; slipping a falling, before quickly jumping back up and turning to look upon Rhapsody and her new armored demonic guard, "Uhhhh, heh hehe n-n-n-no trouble here!" He would respond, putting his hands up before himself defensively, "We's were just checkin' on the safety of this kitt- err!! Girl here! Yeah! That's us, always l-l-lookin' out fer others!" The man would respond in a panic as he continued to back away, "S-seein' as she's in good hands with yous though--" He continued, his eyes darting towards the right as he swallowed nervously, "-Bye!" Finally following suit, the man would finish his explanation and chase after his comrades; slipping and falling once more right at the exit of the alley before continuing on out of sight. Rhapsody would stand silently, momentarily wide eyed as she looked down the alley way in confusion; before immediately shifting her expression to a stern pout as she crossed her arms in minor annoyance. "How rude!" Rhapsody would exclaim, "I know I don't look much like others, but I wouldn't call myself a monster, let alone a ghost!" She would say with a huff before giving a heavy sigh and turning back towards the armored woman, "Sorry for running into you like that, I must not have noticed your were there before!" She would say to the woman; a clear indication that Rhapsody hadn't noticed the method of the woman's arrival, "My name's Rhapsody! It's a pleasure to meet you!" She'd introduce, giving a small curtsy as she made sure not to drop the bag of snacks she held, "Oh! Perhaps as an apology, you would like a pastry? They're very good!" She'd finish with a bright smile as she lifted the bag towards the woman enthusiastically. HP: 56,452/56,452 (--) SP: 56,452/56,452 (--) KP: 56,452/56,452 (--)

The sheer satisfaction of seeing the men that were surrounding the woman before her cower before her power and appearance left Zerori more than a little superior. It wasn’t a particularly common feeling for the Hybrid woman but it felt good all the same as she cocked her head to the side looking up briefly at the sudden crack of thunder and lightning that seemed to coincidentally preclude her arrival. Wow. And I didn’t even PLAN for that, She thought with amusement before she looked down at the woman she’d addressed. Zerori didn’t miss the manner in which she’d turned around and took a step back, the first assumption being that she was likely afraid of Zerori because of her intimidating appearance. However, confusingly enough, the words that had begun to fall from her mouth sounded polite - cordial, even though she wasn’t even allowed the proper moment to actually hear the answer in its entirety before the ground made their quick get-a-way a LOUD one!
Her red flicked back up to them, narrowing dangerously as all but one fled the scene of the alleyway in record time. If she weren’t trying to look as unaffected as possible, however, Zerori would have most certainly lost her composure to laughter when the leader had fallen on their ass and proceeded to crawl away backwards. For a brief moment, their pleading had nearly awakened something within Zerori and she was on the precipice of exploring that sudden sinking feeling in her stomach just before the coward was able to scramble to his feet and be off. With a scoff, Zerori just allowed her arms to drop before looking down at the woman.
She expected a lot of things but for her to assume the words thrown at them were for her at ALL? Yeah, that took the wind out of her sails. “You… what?” Zerori muttered in confusion and disbelief before the realization dawned on her. She has no idea I just came into town - literally, While it was a bit odd to know that her entrance was more or less a mystery to the woman before her, Zerori decided to keep it on the down low. The less a stranger knew, the better, right? Playing along, Zerori gave a nonchalant shrug, “No harm done. You didn’t bother me as much as it appeared they were bothering you,” She added, pushing the conversation from herself.
Zerori was prepared to leave it at that, her curiosity at this woman left unsatisfied in lieu of being the gentlewoman she was (or at least TRIED to be) but it was the disarming introduction that kept her rooted and ultimately the offer of a pastry that calmed Zerori’s red eyes from flaring so brightly in the dark back to a calm cerulean, “Ah…” Zerori pretended to try and resist the temptation of the sweets before she laughed with a grin, “When you put it like that, how can I resist?” She held her hand out for one, the thunderous hum of her power easing into a pleasant calm before she returned the greeting, “Zerori! Pleasures mine,” She returned with a wink, feeling more comfortable in the familiarity of her Casanova front. Besides, Rhapsody didn’t really make it hard with how endearing she was.
With her pastry possibly acquired, Zerori continued, “So, uh… What brought you to this dank place, anyway? Don’t see anything appealing for someone like you here,” She cocked an eyebrow, “-unless I’m poorly misjudging you and you came here for a reason?”

A shimmer of light would break through the alley as car's passed by in an infrequent manner; thunder rolled above as an indication of an oncoming rain, however Rhapsody's focus was taken entirely by the individual before her who'd cordially accepted her pastry. Rhapsody was most happy to offer the delicacy she'd recently found herself interested in; today's assortment being primarily of apple fritters and sour apple tarts. Not wanted to offend the woman or make her believe a joke had been played on her, Rhapsody saw fit to offer her one of the sweet apple fritters while she listened to the woman's remark. "Oh?" Rhapsody would remark curiously with a tilt of her head; her ears twitching as she picked up on the many distant sounds of music and partying, "Dank? Oh heavens no!" Rhapsody would correct with a bright smile, "The city is so bright and beautiful, I've not stayed out quite so late before, so this is my first time seeing so many lights and sounds!" She'd explain excitedly, "I admit, I may have found myself a bit overwhelmed, but I believe the city is quite far from being considered, 'dank' as you put it." She'd affirm before reaching into her bag to remove a sour apple tart for herself, taking a quick bite and immediately brightening up with enjoyment at the pastry. So distracted by the lights and sounds however, that only now as she began to calm did Rhapsody realize she'd lost her way. While it was true that she'd never stayed out long enough for night to fall, it was equally as true that she'd never traveled in said night. She'd been raised to be the 'early to bed, early to rise' type, so the sights around her had become unfamiliar to her. Her pastry eased her nerves however as she contemplated a solution beyond simply wandering around, before turning her attention back towards Zerori with a hopeful look in her eyes. "Do pardon me Miss Zerori, but do you happen to live in this rather large village?" Rhapsody would ask politely, "I would very much like to return to the place I'm currently calling home, but admittedly, hehe, I'm not sure where 'here' even is!" She'd admit, giving a playful, small knock onto the side of her head in a display indicating her own foolishness, "I suppose I should have spent less time reading those books, and more time remaining on task. Oh, but they were just so captivating!" She'd finish with a listless sigh, regretting her current shortcomings. HP: 56,452/56,452 (--) SP: 56,452/56,452 (--) KP: 56,452/56,452 (--)

The moment the pastry caught Zerori’s eyes, it was like Christmas as she reached forward and (generously) took one of each in both hands. Without missing a beat or hesitating, Zerori took a bite of the Apple Fritter and immediately felt her nerves calm even further at the taste. She could smell that the other pastry was some kind of sour tart and, given it was (one) of her favorites, she decided to save that one for last as she spoke in between bites. She cocked an eyebrow up at the woman after she’d disagreed in such a chirper manner that Zerori just didn’t have it in her to be bothered by being told she was wrong, “You serious?” She mumbled, though her attention had deviated ever so slightly as her gaze was pulled toward the very obvious cat ears that seemed to twitch ever so often in response to… well, if Zerori was honest, she wasn’t sure what. She’d lived in the city so long that, unless it elicited the reaction to danger she was so privy to, everything else about the city just melted in the background like white noise.
Rhapsody certainly wasn’t from here, however - that much was very certain. With a shrug of indifference, Zerori finished the last of her Apple Fritter off, “If you think so! If this place isn’t dank to you, I can’t help but wonder-” She finished chewing, swallowing a moment later, “-where you came from.” It was a casual inquiry, but one Zerori was hoping would give the woman a clue as to what she wanted to ask next.
Except, the question was turned on her - with a request following suit quickly after! Sucking the bits of the pastry on her fingers that weren’t covered in her gloves, Zerori pretended to contemplate answering before the cute little gesture Rhapsody made had Zerori weak and she sighed, “Yeah, I could. Not quite ‘born and raised’ but I’ve been here most of my life. It shouldn’t be too hard to help you retrace your steps-” Zerori paused suddenly, a blank look overcoming her features as she thought for a moment.
“... If you don’t know where ‘here’ is - which is ‘East City’, by the way - how am I supposed to show you where your home is?” Not that Zerori was the smartest tool in the shed, but she had a distinct feeling that this woman lived either VERY far away or was merely from the more ‘up-scaled’ part of this city. Except she called this place a ‘big village’ which it certainly wasn’t. “Aight, let’s start simple,” Zerori laughed, amused and confused by the situation. “Where do you live and what brought you to the city in the first place? Don’t tell me it was just the flashy lights!” She teased, trying to get a beat on this woman who seemed SO out of place.

Rhapsody had found Zerori's reaction surprising and endearing in equal measure; while she'd only offered the woman a singular pastry, Zerori had sprung at the opportunity to nab one of each type. Rhapsody wasn't opposed to the woman's desire for sweets, but admittedly was initially startled by her brazenness to take what she wanted so easily. Still, she was more than happy to offer more if Zerori so desired further, and so thought nothing of the response.
"Mhm-!" Rhapsody would chime in as she took another bite of her apple fritter, "-there is no thick foliage, nor standing march water anywhere. This place is quite the opposite of dank!" She'd respond, covering her mouth politely as she spoke whilst she enjoyed her treat.
The lack of swamp lands within the city limits made things far from dank in Rhapsody's eyes; her lack of experience with the common technologies might have shown through her words, but what she spoke was her personal truth. While Zerori had mused over a curious response of her own, it was quickly pushed aside as she accepted the offer to aid Rhapsody in locating the place she'd been staying. It was for the better, as you regale Zerori with the story relating to her origins would have been a bit difficult in the moment, she wasn't even sure what direction her own village was.
"East City?" Rhapsody mused, slightly confused by the term "city", but also curious by the decision to name ones village after a cardinal direction, "Ah! Most certainly not!" She would interject with a laugh, choosing to ignore her curiosity and focus on Zerori's prompted question, "While true, I may have found myself enamored by the unfamiliar lights, I would not make such a trip just to view them like some child." She'd explain firmly with a rather proud expression, "The purpose of my visit was to procure these wonderful treats from a seemingly sleepless shop-keep!" She'd say enthusiastically, lifting her bag of pastries proudly before her seemingly proud stands would give way to mild awkwardness, "Though... while I intended to return to the forest before daylight waned, I found myself enraptured by the literature the shop-keeps impressive stall held, hehe~!"
She was embarrassed to admit the issue aloud, but she couldn't help but to be drawn to the books she'd stumbled across. While her terms may have come off as strange to Zerori, with a bit of guess work it may have been easy to determine the actual events that led Rhapsody to where she was now. From the convenience store bag she held, to the description of the books she read; it was clear she'd merely taken a trip to a local store and lost track of time reading manga from the shelf. While she may have boasted about not being a child, her actions possibly said otherwise... at least when it came to her personality.

... Oookay, that answers a question I didn’t have, Zerori thought after Rhapsody had disagreed on the matter of East City being dank. Honestly, it had Zerori wondering if she’d be using the term wrong all along! Thankfully, she didn’t stay too preoccupied with the over-optimistic disagreement as Rhapsody had started to answer her questions about the city and they were… Well, they fit the naive woman to a ‘T’. Staring at Rhapsody with a look of bemusement, she was educated on the fact that it wasn’t some great desire or desperate need and most certainly wasn’t a pleasure cruise that had led the winged woman to a city… Nope. It was pastries. I could make a killing off of you, Zerori noted as her own Bakery came to mind and just how easily she could tempt this woman out of all of her money.
Wait, if she wasn’t from the city… did she even HAVE money?!
Now more than curious as to how Rhapsody had procured the sweets she’d just eaten, Rhapsody had also somehow been distracted by reading books? Little by little the pieces fit together like clues to a mystery until Zerori recalled that Rhapsody had to have gotten all of this done in the dead of night and that’s when it dawned on her-
With a groan, Zerori brought a hand up to her face to pinch the bridge of her nose. “You really really aren’t from around here,” She muttered, the image of a convenience store clerk struggling to comprehend a woman with wings trying to traverse the automatic doors and actually giving a snort of laughter when she found the scene so funny. Zerori removed her hand from her face to finally speak directly to Rhapsody, “I’ve got… so many questions for you, but for now do you wanna chill at my place for a while until the morning? If you managed to get here during the day and got lost at night, odds are we’re not gonna get very far tonight,” It was an innocent enough offer- well, as far as Zerori went - but just in case she’d scared off the woman from potentially following her home:
“If you haven’t eaten anything but those treats then you’re probably hungry for an actual meal, yeah?” She grinned, “-Ever had spaghetti?” No one she ever knew ever had the heart to refuse her spaghetti. Well, except Korn but he had a fear of noodles that weren't 'curly' - whatever the fuck that meant - but she beat the shit out of him anyway so his opinion didn't count.

"Nuh uh!" Rhapsody would reply joyfully, leaning in a bit closer towards Zerori with a smile as she peered up at the woman, "Hey! Whats so funny?" She'd ask, "Did you think of a joke? I love humor, please share!" She'd insist slightly; her expression giving away her curiosity while her tail twitched about beneath her dress with mild interest.
Zerori was quick to push away from her personal imaginings and focus on the task at hand. Rather than attempt a search in the dead of night, she'd offered Rhapsody the chance to visit her own home in the city. Her reasoning was more than fair, as even when Rhapsody herself had been flying away from the convenience store, she hadn't been entirely sure as to the direction she had been heading. Her senses had been constantly distract by the sights and sounds from the city skyline, so revisiting the effort once day had arrived would have been a much more reasonable decision.
"Chill?" Rhapsody would question; her ear twitching curiously at the idiom, "Hm, I suppose it is rather humid out here. A chance to relax in a cool atmosphere would be wonderful!" She'd say happily, "Thank you very much for the invitation! Ah, but if we're to sleep this night, it'd be best to stay warm, lest you suffer a head cold in the morning." She'd continue, offering a polite word of warning when it came to "chilling" through the night.
An immediate glint would sparkle in Rhapsody's eye at Zerori's next remark. "Ps-getti?" She'd remark, instantly catching her error and glancing off towards the side with a confused, annoyed expression, "I mean, pssgetti!" She'd attempt again, before once more glancing away with an even more annoyed expression as she then held a hand to her mouth in utter confusion, "Sah- pah- geh- teh!" She'd enunciate, "Ps-gett!" She'd say firmly, flinching at her failure to say spaghetti properly, "I'VE BEEN CURSED!!" She'd exclaim as she looked back up towards Zerori with wide, clearly confused and startled eyes.

This girl really was something if she didn’t really understand what was so funny, but Zerori opted to keep that part to herself. One day, she’d share it with Rhapsody - assuming of course that they were still friends down the line and she’d learned more about the intricacies of the city. Like a joke that never seemed to get old and stale with every retelling, the manner in which Rhapsody had interpreted Zerori’s turn of phrase had the mercenary bringing a hand to her face. “Not like- We’re not going to literally stay in a cold-” She stopped, deciding to fold her cards there because no matter how she thought to explain the idiom, the literal meaning behind it wasn’t incorrect! “Noted, Rhapsody,” Zerori relented with a tired little chuckle. The victory of an agreement was more than enough to remain patient in the face of this woman’s clear lack of street savviness
Add that on to the extra entertainment of watching her try and fail MULTIPLE times to say the word ‘spaghetti’ and she was in the front row seat of comedy gold. Every time Rhapsody would try and pronounce the word, Zerori would try and fail to hide a snort of laughter before she just couldn’t find the restraint any longer and burst out laughing at Rhapsody claim of being cursed - forced to hold the wall unless she wanted to literally roll on the ground in hysterics.
It would take a few loud, wheezing moments before Zerori would look back up at Rhapsody with tears in her eyes and speak, “OH damn, that was funny! I promise you’re not cursed; a LOT of people can’t say that word!” She hoped she at least sounded a little supportive in spite of her clear lack of self control. Once she’d managed to fully calm down, Zerori would take a calming breath before clearing her throat and taking the lead down the alley way into the street proper, “C’mon, let’s go,” She directed with a beckoning wave.
The location to her apartment in the city wasn’t hard to get to or very far; she’d intended to actually ‘teleport’ as close as possible to it but clear wasn’t very good at imagining where she wanted to go and then actually getting there. Thankfully, once she was street-side Zerori got a look at the signs and turned back to Rhapsody, “We’re about five blocks away. Want to fly or just use the old walkers?” And before she even finished her sentence Zerori knew Rhapsody wasn’t going to understand what the hell she just said. Still, she could at least appreciate the reaction!

As Zerori burst out into laughter, Rhapsody's face would go; with an aggressive pout, she'd turn away from the woman while she subtly tried to form the letters necessary for the word she'd failed to say. While Zerori tried to encourage her on the matter, experiencing a lisp was something Rhapsody had never dealt with before. It made her wonder what other words she'd find difficulty in pronouncing, but as Zerori finally began to get a hold of herself, she would redirect the conversation, preventing Rhapsody from lingering on the thoughts further.
As the two reached the street, Rhapsody would take in the city lights once more; her eyes widening in awe of the display. It had been an incredible sight from the sky, but was just as incredible from ground level. "Blocks" Rhapsody would question as Zerori made her remark on whether to walk or fly. Looking around, Rhapsody didn't see any such indicators as blocks laying around, and so had a difficult time imagining how far Zerori's home may have been. Still, she wanted to enjoy the sights and sounds around them a bit more, and so would disregard the mention, "I'm unsure of what blocks you speak of, but I would very much prefer to walk regardless!" She say happily, "I've never seen such a brightly shining place like this city before! And there's so many different, musical sounds around!" She'd exclaim, her ears twitching as she did, picking up the music playing in bars unreasonably far and scattered.
With a quick flutter of her wings, Rhapsody would make herself a bit more comfortable before pulling them close to her back as a bird might do. While they were still blatantly visible and obvious, to one not paying too much attention, they might think she was wearing something like a bright, white, feathery cape. "Please lead the way Miss Zerori! I'm quite excited to see the abode you call home." She'd request cheerily with a pleasant smile, intent to follow wherever Zerori might lead.

Yep. Didn’t know what blocks were, either - with every question and curious turn of phrase Zerori was learning where and what she could help the little angel learn once they got back to Zerori’s apartment. It would have been easier to fly there, but Zerori had offered the option and so - by popular demand - they would walk. “Walkin’, it is!” Once they’d begun, Zerori eying Rhapsody curiously when she declared that she was pretty taken in by the sounds of music the mercenary would look away and concentrate as much as she could… only to (at best) be able to hear the faintest sound of some sort of rhythm. “Uh… Sure,” Zerori relented, deciding instead to change the topic to one she could relate to. Just before she had done so, Rhapsody had elected to try and readjust her wings so they were more comfortable and in doing so had Zerori’s appraising her new look with absolutely NO tact whatsoever. She stepped back a bit, giving a soft ‘oh wow’ before giving a grin and stepping right back into the lead.
“I gotta say, Rhap, that’s pretty nifty. Looks very,” She made a gesture with her hands, “-Sugar Plum Cat.” And elected to not elaborate, instead going right into a quick explanation as they walked. “SO, anyway - a block is like a measurement of distance BUT you use the average size of the houses that are near each other!” Zerori continued on like for the majority of their walk, keeping an eye out in case anyone wanted to try their luck against her. Thankfully, they arrived in only a matter of minutes to a rather plain but above-average building that looked to have locked entry to the apartments. The building was easily 10 stories high and it just so happened that Zerori’s was on the top floor where the suites were located.
She turned to Rhapsody as they approached the doors, “Just gonna go up some floors, alright? We’re taking the elevator but since I’m fairly certain you’ve never rode in one I want to make this next part, alright?” Her expression suddenly hardened into a severe frown. “Remain calm at ALL times. Am I clear?”
The last thing Zerori needed was for this woman’s wings to suddenly explode outwards and break one of two working elevators in the building and then the owner would come looking to HER for money. With her warning issues, Zerori went inside and lead Rhapsody to one of said elevator and push a button to wait for it.

Zerori's response was more than a little bit confusing; but while Rhapsody may have had no idea as to what a "sugar plum cat" might have been, it was at least clear that she was complimenting her. She would blush slightly at the attempted compliment, with her confusion holding her back from reacting much further. Her action had been such a simple thing as well that it was a bit strange to be complimented on it, but with a minor twirl of her hair she'd quickly move past the feeling as Zerori took to leading the way to her home.
As they walked, the lights would begin to die down and the sounds of music would begin to steadily fade away. The two made their way further from the entertainment district and deeper into the residential; Rhapsody listened intently to Zerori's explanation as they two walked, looking around the neighborhoods with awe as she learned of the different units of measurement the people of the area use. It wouldn't take long for the two to reach Zerori's abode, but upon Zerori mentioning as much on their arrival, Rhapsody would take on an incredibly surprised expression.
"THIS!?" She'd exclaim excitedly, "You live in this HUGE castle!? Miss Zerori, are you a princess!?" Rhapsody would question with bright wide eyes, full of interest and youthful wonder.
Community homes weren't a mystery to the girl, in fact, there was one in her one village. When comparing her village to a city however, a community home in her village was no larger than the average house in the city. Considering her own home was a single floored, two roomed building, she had no way of grasping the concept of the place that Zerori had just brought her to. While plain and square, its sheer size and accommodation made it no different than a castle from a fairy tale to her.
Zerori remained focused on the task at head, leading Rhapsody to the doors of the establishment before issuing a word of warning. The girl was still a bit flabbergasted by the complex, but would return her focus to Zerori properly as the woman took on a more serious tone. "Hmhm, please Miss Zerori, what do you take me for?" She'd respond smugly, "The Grand Elder of my village has taught me for years how to control my emotions, I'm quite capable of remaining calm in all situations!" She'd say proudly, giving a wink before following Zerori inside the building.
The outside had looked rather drab compared to what was illustrated of castles in books, and the inside... didn't seem much better. There were no pearly white walls or shining red carpets with golden trims; needless to say, Rhapsody easily displayed a minor look of disappointment as she gawked at everything around her with a keen interest. Though while nothing was to her expectation, it didn't make anything less grand. What became most confusing was when Zerori led her to a metal wall and simply... stood there. Upon a closer examination, Rhapsody determine the wall to actually be a door of some kind, and yet there was no handle.
"Ah! I've seen this!" Rhapsody would exclaim as her ears twitched at the sound of the elevators approach, "It's an automata door, like the one the shop keep owns, but not made of glass!!" She'd say incredibly proudly, failing to push down the smile that came to her face as she internally applauded her intelligence. Within moments of Zerori pushing the button, the automatic doors of the elevator would open, revealing... a tiny room? Rhapsody would quickly turn her gaze up towards Zerori with the most disappointed expression she'd ever had, "I-Is this your room.... Miss Zerori?" She'd question; her expression clearly saying "I'm so sorry you have to live here" without actually saying it herself.

Now, that was just cute. A castle? Did this girl ever see a castle or was she just impressed by it’s size? Honestly, between the two of them and how out of time Rhapsody seemed to be - Zerori could admit she’d never even seen a castle before. Still, she couldn’t stifle the snort that escaped her as she looked away from the accusation of being a princess. She took a moment to gather herself so as to not be rude again (and laugh at a perfectly good joke) before she answered, “Not at all. This is an ‘apartment’ - multiple people live in these kinds of housing. It’s what makes large, protective buildings such as these a cost-effective way to live and-” Zerori scoffed with amusement, “-you don't have to feel as lonely.”
While her tone didn’t give anything away, there was a sense of unspoken information there yet wouldn’t be unpacked anytime soon as they approached the elevator. Rhapsody seemed to take her warning seriously as the elevator crawled from the upper floors down, but Zerori wasn’t convinced in the least. She’d only met Rhapsody for a day but it was as if she knew this person for FAR longer than that. And Rhapsody, for a reason Zerori couldn't quite put her finger on, seemed to trust her as well. Zerori simply offered her a half-smile with a doubtful look on her face before she held up both of her hands in surrender. When the focus was on the doors, just moments before they opened, Rhapsody had excitedly recounted what they were and Zerori had to bring a hand to her face to keep from showing how hilarious her naming conventions were.
They weren’t wrong, Zerori had to remind herself, just so on the nose that she might as well have called the stairs ‘Manual Escalation Routes’. Upon the door opening, Zerori was just about to step inside when she noticed that Rhapsody had turned to her to give her a look so fraught with pity that Zerori actually stopped and blinked for a moment before her unasked questions received unbidden answers.
She looked between the inside of the elevator and Rhapsody at least twice before she cried out with a mirthful smile, “NO! No! No, this isn’t my room!” She said between bouts of incredulous sounds, “It’s an elevator. Transports you up and down to what floor you need to go to, now c’mon, let’s go in before it closes!” Zerori would usher before the door, sure as sunshine, tried to close on them.

From the explanation of apartments, to the correction of the small room behind the elevator doors. The emotions Rhapsody felt seemed to rush back and forth between excitable curiosity, to mundane disappointment. While she was disappointed to learn that the building was no castle, she couldn't help but to also feel relieved as it gave her faith as to what a real castle would be like. In the opposite vein, her disappointment upon seeing the room she'd mistaken as Zerori home would be alleviated by Zerori's correction, and she would quickly follow the woman within, with a growing hopefulness as to where Zerori would actually be leading her.
"Apologies for my mistake, Miss Zerori!" Rhapsody would say as she stepped inside the elevator, "I'm ashamed to say I've never heard of this "alleviator" before, but I'm curious, what magic does it use to transport us to higher floors? And why not simply use a passageway of stairs?" She'd ask as the doors of the elevator closed, "Or for that matter, we cooouuuu-"
Suddenly, a heavy onset dizziness would over take Rhapsody mid-sentence. Her stomach would churn, her vision would blur as she felt as though she was suddenly being spun around at high speeds. She'd quickly widen her stand to maintain her suddenly lost balance, but it wouldn't be enough. As her wings puffed out from her back, reacting as if she was suddenly under attack, Rhapsody would collapse as she found herself overtaken by a familiar condition she'd felt only once before, motion sickness.
