Rain poured down all across the battlefield that was once a densely populated city. The people that lived there were once filled with nothing but happiness and hope, but were now running on despair and desperation. The streets were filled with their dead, the rain washing away the blood off of the walls of the destroyed buildings that surrounded the chaos currently taking place. Sounds of battle echoed across the city on a planet that was distant from Earth. Battle hardened soldiers, with their armor branded with the saiyan insignia on it, were tearing apart the opposing forces that were giving it their all to protect their home. They had come in the hundreds, and were eager for more violence. They wanted to continue to feel the rush of war, to keep pushing their limits, to keep conquering the enemies in their path. Their fists satiated an appetite that no amount of food ever could.
The people of the world tried their best. They may have been losing, but make no mistake: they were far from weak. The saiyans would not be as passionate as they were if they hadn’t been fighting formidable opponents. They were a reptilian-like race, though not quite like the changelings from Planet Frost. Their skin was blue, with hard scales across their body. They had a singular large fin that protruded out of their back and one that came out of their head. In fact, maybe they had a little fish in their reptile nature after all.Their eyes were yellow with dark blue pupils. They had sharp white teeth that were so strong that they could cut through solid steel like it was paper. On top of that, their armor and close quarters weapons were made out of the strongest material available to them. They were able to withstand more than a few energy blasts from the average saiyan soldier.
Luckily, Quash wasn’t an average saiyan. He found himself among the invasion force, his heart racing as he was running on pure adrenaline. He fought with great ferocity, letting out a lion’s roar as he slew the soldiers that were in front of him. He was leading the pack with a couple other high ranking Saiyans. While one might’ve thought that voluntarily being in front of charge was a foolish decision, they wouldn’t see it that way. As a species that chases battle everywhere it may appear, it was an honor to get a front row seat. Glory, honor, the power he would show off, what more could he ask for?
As the crowd continued to push through the army, a massive explosion would suddenly appear in front of them. It had not only hit the soldiers, but the enemy they were fighting too. Quash crossed his arms in front of him to shield himself from the blast, but it was no use. He was quickly overpowered by the sheer raw power of… well, something? He didn’t get a chance to get a good look at what hit him. He was blown away like a ragdoll, like the other elites that stood adjacent to his position. It’d get flung through rubble and ruin, eventually landing a great distance away.
Dazed, Quash pushed the rubble from collapsed walls off of him before sitting up, now alone in the middle of a street. Except, it was immediately obvious that something had gone horribly wrong. The entire city was suddenly completely empty. There was not a single dead body in sight. In fact, Quash had noticed that he couldn’t sense anything. It was like he was suddenly in a ghost town. The sky had suddenly blackened, and darkness suddenly surrounded him. It had engulfed everything in front of him, and had only stopped right around his body. It would now look like he was sitting on one, singular platform. Now being completely confused, knowing that there was no way this was possible, Quash cautiously got onto his feet.
He looked around, a little concerned about what he had gotten himself into. It was like he was trapped in an abyss with no way out. Did his other saiyans have something similar done to them? Was he teleported somewhere? His mind was trying to come up with any rational explanation for what was happening, but none of them were holding up. The fact of the matter is is that the impossible had just happened. Quash heard a noise that sounded it came from a long distance in front of him. He couldn’t make out what it was, but it was getting closer. Whoever it was had to be the one that had put him here. He got into a fighting stance, ready face what was coming.
As the noise got closer and closer, Quash felt a very ominous energy that got larger as it got closer to him. Whatever it was was very evil, but also very familiar. Now being able to make out the noise, Quash’s eyes widened as he realized that it was none other than laughter. Not just any laughter either. From the voice, it sounded like it came from a particular blue Majin that he had fought not too long ago. The laughter got incredibly loud and surrounded him in an instant. The captain could barely hear himself think. The voice called out him loudly, the abyss actually shaking in response to the volume.
“OHHHHH QUAAAAASSSHHHH!!!”
It was her. Liari. A skyscraper sized version of her appeared in front of him, looking down on him from above. Her energy was radiating from her entire body, invading Quash’s body and senses, just like it had did before. The saiyan was about to fly up and face her, but he… couldn’t move! He looked at his feet only to find out that they were practically glued to the floor! How could that happen? Quash tried to free himself, but it was no use! He tried to form some kind of ki attack, anything that he could use to fight back, but it was like he had no control over his own energy! Like someone had turned his ki off! Liari raised her hand and clenched it into a fist. She was readying up for an attack, and Quash was hopeless to stop it!
“YOU HAVE FAILED ME AND CALLION! PREPARE TO FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!”
She threw her attack down at him, and Quash could watch in horror as he was about to be crushed. He had failed yet again. He couldn’t bring himself to conquer his foes and now he was going to pay for it with his life! Oh noooo-
The saiyan gasped as he woke up, scrambling as he sat up in his bed. He was hyperventilating and his heart was racing and he needed to calm down. He looked around the room with a panicked look on his face, only to realize no one was there. Once he realized that he was alone and that this was all a nightmare, he slowly began to calm down. Once his breathing returned to normal and heart was able to relax, he let out a loud sigh.
Well, that was all kinds of embarrassing. Quash couldn’t believe he was actually having nightmares about her now. He had come a long way, creating and mastering new techniques and increasing his power at a faster pace than most of the saiyans he encountered back home. He even had to upgrade his Gravitron again, having long outgrown the 75x Gravity limit that he was training at. Surely he’d stand a better chance against her now, right…?
Oh, who he was kidding. He made impressive progress, but he still hadn’t even managed to crack half the power he felt when he fought her. Not only that, but if she probably had gotten even stronger since then! He needed to progress even faster, but how? He had already been making all the right plays, or at least he thought. Thinking back to his fight with Athren, he remembered that he had some kind of power up. What was it? He was a saiyan, so there’s no reason that another saiyan couldn’t achieve the same level of power. Then again, Athren had been on Earth for a while. Maybe there was some master somewhere who knew some way to increase your battle power?
As Quash put his weights on and made his way toward the Gravitron, he’d ultimately decide to toss out the idea of trying to find a transformation. He didn’t have that kind of time, plus where would he even begin? He’d spend more time looking than actually training. He figured he’d just keep doing what he was doing. He’d get there eventually, right?
Once he entered the Gravitron, Quash decided that it was finally time to master his ultimate technique. The Bok Choy Blast of course. The last time he trained with it he had mastered the actual technique itself, but needed to work on how much energy he’d be able to conserve once he redirected the blade should it miss. He turned up the dial to 75x and fired up the training dummy. Once he gave the command to start the sparring match everything quickly got rolling.
He spent all day firing the attack, it was a very draining and grueling process. It strained his ki reserves and he even felt physically exhausted. After every attempt, he was able to save more and more power. The dummy had become incredibly agile, which was an additional benefit to the training as a whole. As the hours went by, Quash could feel his limits being pushed even further. Despite how horrible he felt, he actually really liked the feeling. It was a sign that he was working hard and would, hopefully, reach new heights. After a total of six hours of training, he’d finally be able to redirect a majority of the firepower that the blast initially started with. Unfortunately, it seemed like it was practically impossible that he’d be able to redirect 100% of its power, but it’d be enough for him to be satisfied. Once it was completed, Quash knew that it was time for a much needed rest.
Wiping the sweat off of his face with his forearm, he’d walk over to the dial and turn off the Gravitron. He was thinking about just going to sleep, but to be honest he didn’t want to have to wake up feeling ashamed again if he had another nightmare about someone who kicked his ass. It was like he was being teased with the memories at this point. Maybe it was his subconscious trying to motivate him in some way? If it was, his mind had some pretty ideas about motivation. In any case, Quash went to his room and sat down on the bed thinking over his problems again. Recently, he had met another saiyan. Sayama. He was… an interesting character, to say the least. He was from the saiyan military as well. He wondered how much he knew about saiyan pride. Then again, it’s not like a Captain could go and ask a Corporal about what it meant to be a true saiyan. That’d be pretty awkward.
Quash groaned in frustration as he adjusted himself to a lying position on his bed and stared into space. Despite his leg having fully healed from being absolutely broken by Liaris might, he could still feel the pain like it happened yesterday. To distract himself, he began to think about ways to improve his fighting ability. He had been focusing a lot on ki attacks lately and mastering his Three Sectioned Staff, but he found that he wasn’t doing much in the department of straight HANDS. Maybe tomorrow he’d be able to focus on that. He had be able to excel in as many areas as he could. After all, if he got good enough maybe he’d be able to not get anything else broken. Goddammit, he was thinking about it again.
