GAEA-12: A HABITABLE PLANET WITH ROUGHLY EIGHT TIMES LESS GRAVITY THAN VEGETA. THE NATIVE SPECIES, KNOWN AS THE HYDROXANS, ARE HUMANOID IN NATURE WITH A STRONG PREFERENCE TO BUILD NEAR BODIES OF WATER. COOPERATION BETWEEN THE HYDROXANS AND SAIYAN SETTLEMENT EFFORTS HAS BEEN GOING SMOOTHLY.
DISTURBING REPORTS COME RECENTLY OF AGGRESSIVE PROBING BY A FERAL INSECTOID SPECIES. SEVERAL OUTPOSTS AND LOCALS HAVE DIED AS A RESULT OF THESE RAIDS BY WHAT THE HYDROXANS DUB "SCOUTS. "
COMMANDANT SCALLIO OF THE SAIYAN MILITIA HAS REQUESTED OFFICIAL ACTION FROM THE ELITE ARMY, CITING HIS PLATOON'S CURRENT INEFFECTIVENESS AGAINST THE THREAT. THE CONCERN HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED. ELITE CAYENNE HAS BEEN DISPATCHED ON ORDERS TO REINFORCE THE MILITIA PLATOON AND HOLD BACK ANY RAIDS UNTIL A LARGER FORCE CAN BE ASSEMBLED AND DEPLOYED.
The distinct, whistling sound of an attack pod piercing the atmosphere washed over a decimated landscape. Cloaked in superheated flames, the ship harshly crashed amid the frontline, a swarm of varying insect-like plated aliens chattering. The survivors of the platoon guard, roughly three-quarters in number, paused only briefly before the commanding shout of a lieutenant kicked them back into gear: "COVER THEIR ENTRY! LAY DOWN SUPPRESSING FIRE NOW!!" A terrible swarm of energy bullets fired from hands, mouths, and arm-mounted blasters blotted out the distant blue sunshine and crashed into the invader's frontline. The muddied, crater-strewn shell ran green with blood as some of the Aliens were torn to shreds in the onslaught. Undeterred, a series of larger chitinous monsters took the front, a horrible cross between a lobster and a spider.
Blue-hued webbing spewed from their mouths, giant claws weaving the material into a makeshift wall that soundly absorbed and dispersed the continued barrage of Ki blasts. At that point, the attack pod's door BURST open, flying far off into the distance! Wreathed in a flaming aura, Cayenne slowly stepped out of her ship. Her head swiveled to examine the enemy, eyes hidden behind her visor. "Oh ho ho... you poor little roaches have no idea what I have in store for you." A smirk crossed the Elite's lips as she leaped to pass the silky wall, hands pulling back. "GALICK..." In a flash, an orb of brilliant magenta formed betwixt her palms. "GUN!" A surging wave of purple energy crashed into the weavers, beam sweeping across the ranks. While more grunts were dispatched in clouds of atomized dust, the tougher aliens were left with deep, scorching wounds. "Tch. Tougher than you look."
The walls fell without support, Cayenne hopping back to join ranks with the Militia troops as they took potshots at the insects milling about, re-organizing for another strike. "Ma'am!" The lieutenant ran up, quickly saluting. "Thank the king you're here! These creatures have been tearing through the countryside, and they're damn good at eating Ki blasts too. Getting into melee hasn't worked well. A few have some kind of acid even stronger than the Saibamen back home." She nodded, soaking in the information. Truth be told, this whole situation was little more than idle entertainment to her - THAT'S how strong she'd gotten under Braccus' tutelage. The Elite Army had requested a volunteer to provide fire support on Gaea-12, and Cayenne simply saw it as an excellent opportunity to test her newly acquired Galick Gun on tangos she could legally kill. "Won't be a problem, lieutenant. Hold your positions and continue providing ranged support. Do we have any idea if they have a central leader?"
The soldier barked an order at a nearby Saiyan, the lanky goggles-wearing man rushing over with a data pad in hand. "Sir! Ma'am! Intelligence from satellite surveillance suggests there was a mothership that has taken root on planet about twenty clicks north of our position. Hydroxan cooperation has corroborated this estimation." There was the primary target. Cayenne couldn't and wouldn't leave the Militia to fend for themselves against the attacking force while she went wandering off to snipe the command center, so the mess here would have to be cleaned up first. "Well, talk about a target-rich environment," The woman's nose wrinkled, picking up on an absolutely foul stench. "I'll move in to kill anything that looks vaguely important or strong. You fellas get the job of cleaning up the mooks, so I don't get distracted. Sound good?" The squelch of mud, the shouts of soldiers, and the distinct buzzing of Ki blasts... it's been too long since Cayenne last had a go at the frontlines. It was finally time to put all the training she's been doing to use!
Blasting off without waiting for a response, the Elite resumed her initial cursory tactics of low-commital hit and run tactics. Her attacks focused on the weavers still grouped at the front, but a secondary force of bulbous, bloated tentacled creatures made that problematic. It seemed they could bind to the outer armor of the weavers and were particularly good at shrugging off energy blasts. The Aliens seemed adept at adapting to the situation and moving in tandem; From their behavior, Cayenne presumed these insectoids to be some sort of hivemind to a degree. "Annoying..." She opted to gain more height, hands shaking themselves as a torrent of steam blew off them. Strafing runs with multiple Lucora Guns worked wonders to chew through some of their ranks, but the big boys were left standing, only slightly injured. By now, she was under return fire, globs of sizzling acid and pressure-shot spikes forcing evasive action.
