The last few weeks on earth had been surprisingly entertaining and worthwhile with all things considered as he found himself enjoying the time he had spent there the more it went on. He had gotten stronger, made new discoveries, found allies, and along with more money, there were more ways to spend it. With so many shops available he had found a tailor who made him a new pair of pants for the time he would be on earth appreciating their culture. It had come to the point that he had come to the firm decision that he would be staying here so he could help with the takeover of the planet. With Zero gone from the planet and out of contact with him for the moment, Khyrop had decided that he would do what he could until he got back, gaining strength and increasing their foothold.
In the last few weeks, he had gotten some training done and had felt the results but it wasn't enough for him and he had felt the desire to do more. In the time that he had gotten his new pants made he also had another set made that was weighted along with a matching scarf so he had something to drape around his neck. With both weighted and unweighted versions he could look stylish while also training, but also have regular versions should he need to be at his full speed.
With these changes having happened recently in his life he had felt confident in his decision to allocate more of his personal time to further training. There was always time for the work he was doing on the planet especially since the real legwork would have to wait for the moment, so instead, he had found it more prudent to prepare for it. With no idea who and how many people he might be fighting in the future, along with their strength so it only made sense for him to do whatever he can in worry that these future threats were preparing for him in the same way. It might've been a tad inane to some but for Khyrop it seemed that it was the only rational thing to do.
It might've been this line of thought that brought him to convert part of the indoor space of the building he was occupying into a training center. It wasn't anything fancy, he had just found the underground garage and did some light fortification along with some sound-proofing. He thought it could work until he finds better accommodations on the planet, but for now, it was fine for his down-low agenda. Even now as he continued the routine of going down to it once a day he found some satisfaction in the work he had done on it.
"Maybe I should've been an engineer instead." He joked as he closed the door behind him, pressing the panel over the door to help complete the seal and ease any worries he might have. Even with the half-smile on his face, he felt fully satisfied flying to the center as he turned around. "Let's see if I can push it to the limits a bit today though."
In a way, it was very similar to the makeshift training camp he had put in the woods, made from limited materials without any fancy training equipment to give him a maximized workout. There were barrels, broken down cars, a few chunks of rebar, and a tower of stacked couches he had found in the alleyway. He already had enough stolen furniture to use upstairs so he figured they could work for good enough target practice. Even if it was all shoddy at its core the effort had worked out for him at the moment and it would serve as a stepping stone to go further and further. Even now he had his new training clothes, a result of efforts like these.
"Speed test first and then target practice I suppose, but the real question is what should I end on." His eyes shifted around his 'gym' while he thought about the options. It was starting to turn into procrastination and once he noticed that it was taking his focus he decided to walk over to the equipment knowing that he could decide when he got there. "This is an inspiration in itself after all."
The bat walked over to where he had arranged barrels in the form of a track, however, there was also a damp trail that was evenly coated around the entire thing. It was shimmering and thick, it wasn't water no it was oil he had put there purposely. This was all for his training he didn't care about the risk knowing that he could handle it if he got burned. No, he was all about the risk and as he lifted his wings into the air and dropped a match it all happened like a flash.
As the flame hit the noxious fumes and ignited Khyrop had burst into full speed or at least the full speed he could reach with the weighted pants and scarf holding him down. He could feel the heat gaining on him as he turned around the corners of his track, seeing the flames chase behind him from his peripherals and he didn't see the beating of his wings. His clothing was flammable and he knew that if it caught on fire it wouldn't be long until his fur did, and while he could fly to water quick enough it wouldn't be a pleasant experience. Even as his breaths started to get labored from the intensity at which he pushed himself, he felt the heat coming and it started to push under his wings. Although he could use it to help glide and save energy that wouldn't help him grow.
"I- got- this." His words of encouragement were broken up by gasps of breath-taking in large amounts of air to make sure he had the oxygen needed. It was breaking up in his mind as the runner's, or rather flyer's high began to take over adrenaline rushing through him. "Whooooo!"
He twisted and turned around the corners wind rushing over his ears as they held flatly to his head, he suddenly spun as he enjoyed his second wind. With this invigoration, he would finally turn the last corner where the fire had started and so had he begun this frantic race against nature. With the prize on his mind, he began to beat his wings as hard as his tired body could gather while his speed picked up. As he hit the finish line he used the momentum he had built up to clap his wings together and produce a gust of air in front of him and below. It was immense at aimed at the right time and right place so it spread throughout the track blowing out the flames with the intensity of his gale.
"I guess light beats fire, but I guess that's a given." He said smugly to himself as if there was a crowd of people had to impress. He was happy with his results but he knew that he could be faster. "Hmm, I guess its time to run it again."
He would fly over to where he kept his barrels of oil, picking up another one as he would retrace the entire path again. However, this time it was pouring over the track as he went over it multiple times creating the same scene as when he came in. It was when he finished this that he pulled out a match and did the same thing over again. It went about exactly the same as he rushed himself to the limits again except that this time he was a few seconds faster and he had accidentally knocked one of the embers into the air where it landed on his fur.
Although it caused his fur to smolder and burn for a second he did not fret as he put his head to the ground and suddenly spun around fast the mixture of speed and ground smothering the burgeoning fire. When it was put out he quickly flipped himself upside down and went back to flying despite the tiredness in his arms. His destination wasn't too far, his so-called firing range so he could get started on target practice. There were some barrels, bottles, bottles on barrels, and even a car or two for him to blast and it was definitely the most cathartic one of his exercises.
Khyrop landed happily ready to give their wings a second to rest from the previous exercise grabbing a few beer bottles from underneath the range divider. They were all placed on the counter to be used for skeet shots when it was that time. It was all so much fun that the Archduke couldn't help but feel joyful about and share his musings. "I guess if I wasn't meant to shoot I wouldn't be able to do it with my own body."
It was partially a true statement, but also partially a fun inside joke to himself considering the details he knew about his creation and the other limited details on his true purpose. However, it was true that he was made so that means it was their intent for him to be able to do everything he knew inherently. His abilities for ranged and up close fighting were proficient just as much as his mind and its intellectual pursuits. With all the things he partially knew and was incredibly capable of it only made sense for him to hone it and use it for the means, he finds appropriate.
Without warning, he would suddenly whip a bottle into the air, before firing a ki blast towards it and watching it shatter to fine dust as it would trail on the wind. With a satisfied look on his face, he would hook two more into his claws and throw them as if he were firing a catapult. He repeated what he had done before with these last two enjoying the sight of glass mist shimmering in the air as light shined through the fine particles. It was a bit dangerous but it was beautiful nonetheless and he couldn't help but make it as gorgeous as he could. In mere moment he had thrown the remaining bottles in the air, quickly firing off a barrage of blasts until they were all gone, except for one.
It had almost missed his sight, falling down from the sky it was about to crash into the ground and he saw it and reacted as quickly as possible. Opening his mouth he fired a large ki blast that curved around the cover before crashing into the object and sending its debris upward into the fine cloud that had already been there. As the energy danced between the particles it created a rainbow as the light from his abilities lingered after the use.
"Here I thought I was the most beautiful thing here." He teased while flying upwards to it so he could take a good look at it. As he stood amongst it he found a joy settling over him. His eyes turned with his body as he stared at where he had been firing from. "Although I guess as the cause of the beauty it only seems natural."
Firing a sudden ki blast at a mechanism in front of the cover he would watch as suddenly around him spring-loaded targets would start flinging upwards. Without a moment's hesitation, Khy would start firing at them as they popped up, shimmer balls of ki with trails of light bursting through the building as they clashed into the cardboard targets searing them and turning them into ash in mere seconds. It seemed like a rave as around him swirls of majestic iridescence created a vortex of luminescence that involved him while enjoying the sight and sound of the targets getting destroyed.
"Time for more, I can handle it no issue." He said as he charged enough light blast before firing at another mechanism that was in front of the cover, and then he would quickly fire another blast to hit a third one that was there. "Heh, time for the real fun to begin."
As he did so not only did more targets begin to pop up, with some looking like his allies but also aerial targets. In mere seconds a bottle came flying straight toward his face. He suddenly let out a ki-empowered scream that vibrated at the same frequency of the glass causing it to shatter as the debris went around his face as though it were no issue. As if by pure instinct he quickly turned around and did the same thing to two more that were coming towards him. The third one had been a bit close as he felt a shard of glass cut his cheek. It almost caused him a bit of anger, but he took a deep breath and went back to his training.
This wasn't merely enough as he started to dip and dodge, allowing some bottles to get close so he could dodge and fire at it all so another one would be on better timing for targeting. It took all of his efforts and focus but it would allow him to get some training in dealing with multiple projectiles or entities swarming him all at once. A deep breath left his lungs as he started to enter his focus zone, a flow state as his body began to shimmer the red fur turning into starlight at its tip. The energy in his body flowing and growing as he started to shift his body between particle and ray state. A bottle came at him at that exact moment, until it suddenly went through him.
As the bottle phased through him he smirked and charged the light around him into his mouth before suddenly letting out a scream and firing his cannon. The beam would strike through not only the main target but hit two more bottles and a target that had popped up at the right moment. It felt just right as he watched them all obliterate, he would feel it coming to an end as he blasted one or two more before he heard the gears starting to slow down.
"That was fantastic, maybe I'll just do a few more rounds of this and then hit the showers." He spoke to himself full of joy, obviously satisfied with his results but also eager to see himself get better. "Alright, let's run it back then."
In the end, the rest of his day would go just as he had planned for it to, he would keep up with the target practice by doing both standing targets and ones that come at him. While after doing both he would do them at the same time while adding in his own movement so that way he could simulate combat to an extent. It was a bit tiring, but it was incredibly adrenaline and blood-pumping fun that made the rest of his time fly by just as quickly as he would. After ending it off by beating his record on hit targets he had felt as though he had met his quota for training that day. He would fly towards one end of the basement where there was a door from a room that he had personally added.
"Time to end a perfect day of training with a perfect way to relax." He said into a microphone, the door responded to his voice before unlocking and allowing him inside. "Ah my home away from home."
He walked inside what was clearly a built-in secret room added to the converted garage and where most of the money had clearly gone. It was a state-of-the-art room with a kitchen, bedroom, washing room, living room, dining room, and spa bathroom. The final being his own destination as he walked into the spa bathroom In a few seconds he would have a hot bath running into a rather large tub while he went to find the shower to enjoy. It would be the rest of his day, relaxing as he washed the grime and sweat all out of his fure before he would go into the bath to soak and relax all of his worries away. The warm water soothed him as he let the soreness wash away and let him think about how he would one up himself the next day.
However, this wasn't the end of his training day as he would go to the kitchen after soaking in the path for a few hours, he was hungry after all. Instead of a light snack though Khyrop prepared himself a veritable feast, roasted whole chicken, potatoes, vegetable medley, corn, bread, stuffing, mac and cheese, a whole roast, and a variety of small appetizers he had ordered from various places in the city. It was important that after a day full of working out that he restore his nutrients and get what he needed so that way he could do it all again. After all, tomorrow he would end up doing the same thing again as he would on any of the days he had.
"What a life, here's to hoping that my results will pay off by the time the Ika's return." He said to himself as he enjoyed a fine glass of wine, letting the evening pass him by as he would soon enough get some rest ready for the next day.
