The sounds of planet Earth were at first alien, and odd, but eventually they had started to sound like a sweet enticing melody upon the ears of Khyrop. Each morning when he had awoken inside his abandoned building he was elated to see the sun rising over the mountains as birds tweeted like a chorus to the beat and rhythm of coursing rivers and rustling trees. For someone who was sensitive to the sounds of the world around him, it was prudent to find a way to enjoy them, after all with such big ears it was hard to stop them entirely.
This very morning in particular the sounds he had become accustomed to had served as a sort of alarm clock, his ears twitching before his eyes or any other part of his body. Then he would snap awake, his body jolting forward as he leaped down from the ceiling he had been hanging from. Within a few moments he was completely awake and his mind focused on the task even as he reminded himself of it. "Finally, some time off from work to focus on honing myself."
It wasn't that he didn't love his work, far be it, he enjoyed going to planets and helping their takeover so he could get access to their knowledge and their money which he could use to further his own intellectual pursuits. However, when he had time off from his work he felt it was the longest period of time that he had to train himself and focus on growing his body. He knew that he was supposed to assimilate the DNA of strong, intelligent, and skilled people but he also believed aggregating their abilities and wisdom wouldn't mean anything if he didn't have his own to build off of. It was for this very reason that instead of relaxing on his vacation that he had decided to train in the wilderness.
Leaving North city and traveling into the forest close to the city and the mountains he would clear some area in which he could go about his routine. It wasn't anything all that particular special, at least not at this moment of his plan. He was a bit meticulous, a trait from one of his genetic donors, and it lead him to make sure he had the fundamentals practiced and down before he would consider developing his own.
"I think this will do, though maybe I should bring someone else with me." He spoke to the woods themselves as he paced around the cleared patch where there had been nothing but a tree with the top of it cut off so he had something to punch against. As he saw that a smirk crossed his lips and he couldn't help but chuckle. "I guess they cared about me a little more to do more than the basics of their job."
Even with this comment fresh in his own mind still, he didn't walk over to the makeshift punching bag just yet as he would instead jump up into a tree. While most of the time he might just perch or hang from it by his feet he instead would sit, and then after a second, he flipped upside down so his legs were hooked over the branch. Without a moment of hesitation, Khy started doing his exercises as he did hanging sit-ups. His eyes were clear as he moved rapidly and rhythmically keeping up his pace and keeping track verbally. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight..."
The exercise went by smoothly as he kept going until he reach a hundred and then waited five minutes before starting the second set of another hundred. His core had been thoroughly worked out and his blood was pumping so he eagerly that he moved onto the next exercise which required him to get two stones together which he placed across from one another. Once it was in place he got into the middle before suddenly stepping to the side really quickly before just as swiftly moving to the rock on the other side. His side steps gradually getting quicker he would do the same as he had done before with the arboreal sit-ups trying to get his body worked to the point his muscles were hot and begging for more.
This and other exercises would make up the majority of his morning as he focused on stretching and building his body to make sure they were worked out and brought to their fullest potential. After he had finished his side-steps he moved on flying without the aid of ki with logs hanging and dragging as they were tied to him with ropes. He took his time to fashion them around his body and make sure they were nice and tight to provide the most resistance without fear of them coming too loose during the exercise.
"This should help me with speed and maneuverability." He spoke to himself as he crouched once he was done affixing the ropes, putting all of his strength into a jump before he began to beat his wings pulling the air underneath them in a matter of seconds. "Nng, well a bit more than expected but I'll handle it."
He was telling the truth to himself and the trees as he felt the need to beat his wings with more force while at the same time gliding onto any wind he could find. It was admittedly difficult with the trees breaking the breeze, but as he weaved through the woodland and ducked under branches while being careful to not get tangled he would wait until openings at rivers, glades, or valleys to ride upward. It was definitely starting to strain on him over time but he couldn't give up and would fly in a circular path from where he had started in the training area through the forest and around the city until he had gotten back there. It had been the plan to stop there but as he flew past the starting point the pain and heat in his muscles told him he couldn't stop as he suddenly pushed forward straining himself as he went around for a second lap.
"I guess my body is the boss, but let's hope it's not trying to...hah..kill me.." He started to take deep breaths between his words as he started to hear his speech slowing, knowing that he was starting to get tired from flying that distance without taking something to drink along the way. "Fuck, maybe I should just try getting some of those weighted clothes I've heard about instead."
He knew that despite his knowledge he could always learn more, and this had been an example of when one test required another to find the best method. However, with the extra pain caused by the ropes getting tangled, he was sure that even if the weight was more intense it would be better than when he had been suddenly yanked into a tree by the force of his speed and getting caught on three different trees and a shrub. When he had returned back to the starting point from the second lap he would suddenly fall down to the ground rolling onto his back.
"Hah....hah....ah" He breathed heavily and loudly as he saw his furred chest rise and fall with the sound of his heartbeat pounding against his insides. It was all he could hear for a moment as was caught in himself rather than focusing on the world around him in that instance. He could only gasp even when he tried to speak, sucking in the air hard until he felt himself starting to cool. "nn...water."
Instead of bringing any with him Khyrop had decided that he was going to live off the land, he thought it would be a good opportunity to learn more about the planet and how he could take care of himself should the need ever arise. Luckily the flying was useful for one bit as he had found a river that wasn't too far from his campsite. Once the weights were properly removed he started walking in that direction groaning in both relief and pain as the sore bits were pushed more but also without the added weight tugging and digging into his skin anymore.
"There it is." He spoke as his voice started to come back after getting some more time to breathe, although he was sure he needed some water more than anything at the moment with the exertion He would walk and wobble over before falling to his knees as he let the flowing water wash over his face while trying to gulp down as much as he could. Once he felt that his body had been cooled down he pulled away panting, but with a smile spread across his chiropteran face. "Mm I think this will be a perfect warm-up for the next few days."
With training for the day done and his thirst quenched it was time to focus on filling his stomach before laying down as the sun had started to set. Although as he saw it he couldn't help but chuckle, thinking to himself how he never really stuck to sleeping during the day or night, and he had often switched depending on the situation. It was a bit funny to him considering the nocturnal side he got part of his makeup from. With this humorous, thought fresh in his mind he waited by the river, with his body crouched back as he watched fish swimming on by in their own daily lives. As if he were springloaded Khy leaped forward while opening his jaw widely before clamping down his jaw, spearing them upon his sharp fangs.
This went on for an hour and a half, but not due to lack of success but out of gluttony as he kept scarfing down as many fish as he could find and eat. He also ate the crawdads, snails, and other creatures he found in the river crunching them down happily. Even though it was his dinner this also served to help train him as he had to keep his eyes and sense trained on quickly catching them before they could get scared and move away from him. In the end he was more successful and walked away with a full belly.
When he had finished decimating the water levels and fish population he went back to his campsite, even though there was nothing but his makeshift training equipment there was enough for him to rest. Even though his wings were sore he had taken enough time to rest that he had enough energy to get up into the air and onto a branch which he would quickly flip to the underside of as his claws wrapped and locked around the branch. With slumber taking him soon after he entered his sleeping spot he had no time to ruminate on the day before his dreams were doing it for him.
In his sleep, the entire day had been turned into a vague painting that was obscure and felt as more of an impression of it upon him rather than a recollection of events. It was a pleasant dream although he could feel the tiredness even in his rest, luckily the soreness would be gone in the morning in time for him to bring it back from his own excessive exercising. For no one to hear, even himself he mumbled in his sleep in response to it all. "Heh, soon enough I'll go further beyond."
The sweet delusions and reality of his dreams would soon fade away as quickly as sleep had taken him, as if the time had never happened and he simply skipped from one point to the next. This wasn't real of course, but he had always found sleep an outstanding experience and something to add to his research topics.
However, this morning was not the morning to dwell on such things as he was awoken by the sound of his stomach rumbling, and grumbling until he hissed at the morning sun and bared his fangs as if though it were the main course. Once he had calmed down Khyrop would take a moment to groom his fur, taking the time to make sure it was neat and brushed free of things that had stuck to him over the night.
"Ugh, I should see if I can get something to remove the static off of me when I sleep, I love the woods but I don't love these random things in the air sticking to my fur and fancy pants." He spoke to himself as was his habit while he finished cleaning himself off. "That or just seal up my pants and take a full bath every morning before unsealing my pants...haha."
It was a joke, but a bit serious at the same time as he did care about his appearance, one of the few things he did in this world at this moment. He knew it had to do with the things he could control, but he was also still learning about himself and the wide universe that he had inhabited. This was the reason why work was important, the reason why this training vacation was going on for the purpose of getting stronger and stronger, starting the path to perfection in earnest.
"Well time for some brunch, and then day two of training." He stretched himself out, feeling some of the soreness as he went over his daily routine in his head. He also thought about what he was going to do for his meal before he saw a deer prancing through the clearing he had made. "Well lot's of protein is good for packing on mass, and I do need to get bigger."
As soon as he was done talking to himself it was time to go as wings beat quickly and powerfully until the bio-android was hurtling through the air after the cervid, the entire herd becoming visible once they had entered the next clearing together. Without evening realizing it the buck had lead the predator to his family, rivals, and mates to what would soon be a massacre. In what would soon be a repeat of the events with his dinner the night before ravenous hunger began to take over. His fangs cleaving through their flesh and bone as he quickly severed important limbs, or even their heads to make sure they were all killed as quickly as possible.
Once they had all been butchered he began to pick them up and carry them all to a pile, dropping them at the center of his camp. When they were all collected he didn't even bother to wash them, let alone cook the morsels. No, instead he crouched over the pile as he unhinged his jaws using his hands and teeth to shovel the food down his gullet. Instead of chewing he used his fangs to cleave the meat into swallowable chunks, as he did with his claws and just opened his maw to push in as much as possible down into his stomach.
This type of behavior was a regular occurrence for him, gouging on tons of food whenever he had the chance and while some of it was out of joy it had also become a part of necessity for him. He had no idea but it had been a part of his design that he would feel hungry until he had reached his perfect form, it being a way to motivate him to try and find proper specimens to aggregate with himself. It was risky, but it could end up driving him to incorporate the most unique organisms to give him the skills he desired to help himself grow. Even if he wasn't aware of it though it was what had brought him here this day as he had felt the drive and need to push himself so that he may grow.
"Well let's see if I can kick it up a notch today." He walked over to the cut tree at the center of his camp, running his hand along it as he circled, taking a look as he seemed to be pondering something, his nose crinkling and folding a bit as he took a deep breath. "Let's start off with something easy."
With his mind settled Khy grabbed the ropes from yesterday before tying one to the stump and the other to his own person, making sure both knots were tied tightly it was time to test the distance. As hoped it allowed them to walk around the perimeter of their camp, however, this was not the purpose of it, and soon enough as they began to run it would be clear why they did what they did. As they had done plenty of times over the week Khyrop put all their power into their lower body to push into flight at intense speeds.
The rope was loose for a moment before it started to unravel before suddenly going tight as the distance had been reached, then quickly turned to circle around. With the wind rusting against their fur, tickling at their skin the Archduke could feel the world around him embracing him but it wasn't enough. Held firmly in place he used the center point to focus his path, flying around the campsite, pulling slightly away to keep the rope taught. This was his sole focus, pushing his speed faster and faster while going around and around. It was monotonous, but that was the point he was just trying to push himself and need the consistency to keep going without worry of slowing down.
Once satisfied with the rushing of the wind around them Khyrop would quickly flip upside down and start flying in the opposite direction while staying upside down. It was tiring and intense trying to keep it up, but it felt like it was just the right exercise and so it would keep going. However, without notice, the speed and force of the rope pulling and rubbing onto the wood would suddenly cause enough friction to light the stump on fire. Although it wasn't forcefully, at first there was some heat, and then it began to smoke before soon enough both the rope and its tied point would catch a flame.
Even then it wasn't noticed until suddenly the rope was snapped and they were slingshot into the air as they had been going up to practice trajectory. Immediately turning to face the source of the accident it was revealed that the fire had been started and Khyrop's eyes went wide at the site out of intrigue and excitement, "Well I can't say this was the intent."
While in most cases he might leave the wildfire to burn and damage the world around it this was his campground, was close to his allies city, and would cause more trouble to his ambitions in the end. It was a bit begrudgingly but it was decided that he would do something about it to protect his and his new allies' interests. With his speed having been thoroughly tested wings beat one time on the right wind downward to jet towards the scene. First came the crackling sound, and then the heat before they were looking t it up close. At first there was a moment of silence as he began to ponder the solution while sitting in the problem.
It was then that memories from a recent job had suddenly given the bio-android an idea, as they would fly back up into the sky quickly, before turning around once they had reached the clouds. Aiming at the fire Khyrop flew down turning briefly to light while using gravity to reach terminal velocity. However, the intent was not to drive themselves into the wreckage and burn in the inferno no it was the exact opposite.
"Let's hope this works." He said to himself as he suddenly stopped just a few inches short, but as he did transfer it from his wings into one last stopping flap and sent all the gathered air straight at the fire. The force had been enough and the gust that came from his wings would blow out the fire in a matter of seconds. "Woohoo, well this might have potential."
He was excited at the possibility of what his training could bring him, but then saw that some of the embers were still going and that it was necessary to take care of them. He jumped forward and started stomping on them, claws digging up dirt and covering the hot embers before letting out a sigh of relief. With this over, he knew that he could focus on the rest of his vacation confident in his plan from here on.
The rest of his training vacation would have the same results, he did similar training methods and mixing them up while also trying some of them together at the same time. It was a bit weird at first but soon enough had gotten into the rhythm of his new program and was started to follow it to the best he could while on the trip. He made sure to train all the important parts he had gathered after the first few days of assessment. With a focus on strength and speed training Khyrop would do more tree sit-ups, flights with weights, and tied flights with wet rope to make sure he didn't start enough fire with his eagerness. It was all to make sure his body was up to par so he could actually do what he wanted.
In the end, he had felt his results become fruitful, he was able to reliably do all of his exercises at the end and was able to push himself a bit farther. He knew that he would have to keep this up, but he felt that he had gotten his wings strong enough and along with the rest of his body that he could truly start the experimental stuff, develop more techniques and work towards becoming what he has felt he truly was meant to be.
"Mm I'll be back here soon enough, and maybe I'll end up blowing it all away." He stood atop a tree at the end of his vacation, ruminating on what he had learned and what he was thinking of doing when he got the next chance. He had learned some more about what he could do and had some ideas about some techniques, it causing him to become excited as he thought and spoke to himself about it. "Mm-hah, I'll have to look at some of the others back at base and see if there's anything valuable I can learn."
With his mind focused on his near-future goals the past would once again repeat itself as he pushed off with immense force from his position so that he may rocket into the sky. His light would brighten his fur as his body started to turn into the luminescence trailing off behind him in a beautiful aurora that could be seen in the dawn sky. The red hue mixing in with the early sun, as if he were painting the sky along with the sun, letting his small brush add a fine detail across the larger canvas claimed by the massive star that was rising above the mountains. The familiar sight would put a warm feeling in his heart as he approached North City once again, a different sort of satisfied feeling in him for once as he did so.
