It had been a little while since Callion started to train on his own. There were some little check ins with King Kai, but nothing really worth concerning about, even in the astral realm that is Otherworld. After the vigorous second stage on the path to learning the Kaio-Ken, Callion still felt apprehensive to the entire ordeal of the training course, which probably helped to let the silence grow longer.
While Callion was on King Kai’s Planet, the monkey quickly moved on to acting like normal, as if nothing exhausting had happened during the training course, except that the Saiyan Monk was perhaps a tiny bit energised in the next stage of learning. He had possibly let himself consider King Kai a great teacher, determined to learn all he could from the master, and had remained blissfully ignorant to the Guardian of the Northern Quadrant’s true intentions.
In the attempt to bring about the Legendary Super Saiyan within Callion.
It proved that compared to the student and master dynamic, Callion was still very much a child with much to learn about the universe, not to mention his Saiyan heritage and history--even if he had to endure the lessons with the painful gravity pressing down on him every second—it was all very knowledgeable on how the Saiyans came to be, what were the origins of their race, and how they managed to recover and overcome the trials and tribulations to the present day.
Still, for Callion, all probably seemed well again. He might have still felt like he had to prove to King Kai that he was grown, but that hadn’t changed from before the initial training course to learn the Kaio-Ken. North Kai made it seem like the pieces could be put back into place that simply with just how easily he gave the boy his same warm smile and patient explanations, even after the jokes the two of them shared. Callion might be wiser now, or maybe it was just his overly concerned nature to think King Kai hadn’t fully told him everything, or even if he had, that there was more the young man needed to do to fully unlocked the true potential within him. King Kai would never voice such things however, because Callion was still not ready yet, and his fear and burden of having to tell him what was going on at Earth was not easy to put to words. One bad phrase could set everything off in the wrong direction and the worse part, is possibly set the Saiyan down a very dark path that the Kai had zero interest in seeing him go down. If anything, telling him was the last resort in seeing him become the Golden Warrior of Legend.
But the silence began to irk the monkey. Compared to Gregory his wayward training partner was not nearly as attentive to him and apparently felt he was so grown up he didn’t have to practice with him anymore. Of course, Callion didn’t consciously think like this, lest he would have yelled at himself, but the feeling underneath that underlying cause remained. Eventually his will broke and he reached out to the Kai, wanting to know what was causing all the silence and pondering what was going on inside his master’s mind. He needed to know something or anything about the state of affairs for the next training or possibly the events at Earth.
Whether the ruler of the Northern Galaxy immediately answered him, or was only relatively prompt, Callion had set aside some time to sit with his work the way that many have come before him whenever they were involved with being trained by King Kai. That way an interruption would not be troublesome, though he might have taken a few ticks longer than he meant to if he was in the middle of a reply.
The room Callion entered was different than all the ones before, as usual. It held the same designer’s eye, the warm and modern feel, but the furniture and art and even the shape of the room was different. The realm of Otherworld was a place Callion could effortlessly move around the furniture, so in a way, he could possibly make himself a house and home inside of King Kai’s place, provided he took care of the place and not destroy the small house on the aforementioned sized planet. The Saiyan made his way outside to greet his master alongside the two companions that also dwelled within the planet as well.
There was a coffee table between them, and as always there was tea.
Callion looked up at the star-blanketed night sky of Otherworld, laying down on a particularly large branch of a tree. A single reed of honey-thistle between his teeth as he blinked up at the various lights that were more like pin-pricks across a sea of vast emptiness--his eyes were focused on one in particular, a pensive look on his face as he had felt something... foreboding. His mental sensitivities and abilities were not as powerful or keen as anyone stronger than his, yet he could still sense things far out into the greater galaxy, but it was hazy, like seeing movement at the edge of your vision, yet when you looked out that way, there was nothing to be seen. It was... difficult to say the least, yet he had sensed something similar happen a while ago--something had caused a disturbance to the planet, as well as a conflict that was involving him, at least as far as he could surmise, and now that same energy was on the very planet... He started to ask himself some mental questions – questions that he’ll need answers for in figuring out just what in all that is holy is going on Earth, and King Kai had the answers for him.
A pressure against one part of his mind came into existence--by now, this was nothing new to the Saiyan, the monk having grown used to the stress and teaching others in helping them get stronger across the planet Earth with various people and warriors, but he knew this sensation particularly well; it meant Callion wanted to talk, and King Kai immediately answered the summons with his mind, his eyes closing and his facial expression going blank for a moment. He was never adverse to talking with his mentor and master--quite the opposite, in fact. After everything that they have done ever since arriving to Otherworld, not to mention the effort towards the training provided so far, he liked to think he had grown closer to Callion, at least over time. It had been awhile since he had spoken to 'him' (Goku), huh?
Callion also liked to think he was slowly picking up on King Kai's slightly intentionally hidden secret methods, and he could tell something was bothering his master from the serious look on his face, and while there was a deep motivation behind the message, it was clear Callion should probably be messaging the person he called 'Master' more regularly if they were going to have that kind of bond that came before him. He really did need to spend more time with his training; preferably more along the lines of defensive arts that will be able to protect himself and others more than focusing solely on sole supporting and offensive techniques.
That was when he had the idea when he remembered the lessons King Kai and Callion had together in regards to learning all about the Saiyan Race; The Warrior spirit. How it simply refused to back down from any kind of challenge whatsoever, and would sometimes form a ki like aura of it's own along the Saiyan’s body as a form of a personal shield. If he could find some way to tap into that kind of power, he’d be able to fully be capable of protecting himself all the better and perhaps get a better understanding of his Saiyan origins a little bit more. By all means, it was a long shot to say the least, but it was, at this point, the only way for Callion to get truly connected to his Saiyan heritage after essentially being disconnected from his own kind for so long and essentially having been trained by Monks to deny such desires and personal wants in being connected with his inner Oozaru.
King Kai made his way over towards Callion who was busy resting, his usual attire flowing freely and slightly against the very light and soft breeze that Otherworld provided, rather pleasant, in considering that the astral realm of all things was the hallowed place of the dead and such mimicry of atmospheric activity was abundantly surprisingly to feel once again. It was... Nice again for King Kai to hang around and talk to another Saiyan once again, considering the one that he knew and trained with the longest had not been seen for many long years, and the feeling of getting to know such a member of the warrior race that clearly had a striking resemblance to Earth’s most legendary hero was all the more reassuring.
His Kai antenna’s wiggled in sensation to what was going on Earth, but he could no longer be distracted from the fighting down below and decided to focus on talking to Callion. "Callion my boy, you up to doing some individual training to focus your techniques more? Why don’t we discuss it over something to drink huh?" he asked, taking a few steps towards the small tree on the planet that Callion just so happened to be resting on, hoping that the Saiyan wasn’t catching on to how quiet King Kai had managed to become somewhat so quickly over a short period of time. Callion looked over to the presented table with the drinks provided, and while he tended to dislike coffee—tea was an exception! Tea was always appreciated. His Saiyan tail swayed behind him happily as he exchanged pleasantries with King Kai. "Sure, I think we can take the moment to talk more and figure what I should learn next." he said with sincere interest in replying to his master, yet it was clear from the Saiyan's expression that something was weighing on his mind, his eyes momentarily distracted by something before snapping back to King Kai's gaze, almost like a distracted child, but it was clear King Kai at least had the maturity to try and offer some refurbishment as a sign of good will to Callion. The two made their way towards the table and sat down, with bubbles surprisingly pouring out the drinks for the two of them. "I am just rather perplexed these days, Master. I understand I should focus more on the Offensive and supportive sides of my technique, but I need to get some more Defensive capabilities under my belt. I took what you said to heart and pondered if there was a way to bring out the Warrior spirit within and use it to defend myself..."
”Ooh,” King Kai let out on Callion’s answer, pressing his fingertips together. ”Well, in that case I feel it comes down to using that Warrior Spirit as a bastion like a suit of armor for yourself to use.” It was an obvious answer, but he was quite pleased at Callion’s determination to push forward with his own training, even if it was only biding little time until the dreaded day would arrive to learn what was going on with those that lived on Earth. Even if it was for an extra day or two, so long as King Kai could have a thorough plan to talk about exactly how he was going to bring out Callion’s true Saiyan warrior from within, he’d use whatever opportunity he could muster as an advantage. The Saiyan was simply using the means get the last grasps of personal training before taking part in the last stage of Kaio-Ken training, but he kept in mind the fateful day in wanting to ask King Kai that question. When it will come, and how the two were going to approach the Rubicon that was the question of all things; standing at the proverbial crossroad.
Callion’s closed eyed smile was what King Kai received as approval, followed by the Saiyan moving to pour him a cup of tea like a proper host. As usual, Callion ignored King Kai’s small press at asking the question just yet, knowing if he remained quiet and finished pouring the tea the Saiyan would move on to talk about how to unlock this, Warrior Bastion. When he did, Callion offered him his cup and listened with much more interest, as it was actually the very kind of topic Callion absolutely cared about. He hardly ate let alone thought about eating, which very much surprised King Kai with all things considered.
”So, how does one unlock that Saiyan Warrior’s Bastion?” he asked, trying to remember himself as he did. ”I suppose it come down you looking within yourself, to see your warrior’s bastion… Only then will your warrior self will be revealed to you in the form of a Ki armor” he answered for himself though not one hundred percent sure still. ”That is the only way I can currently describe to you such a power.” he added happily, though his real reaction was in watching Callion carry out such a technique.
Callion’s head tilted slightly at King Kai’s ending, curious but sceptical. There were a lot of things worth sensing what exactly he meant by it. Though regardless, the Saiyan went about in moving to a more open space and began to enter a stance that he was proceeding to try and power up… So far, nothing happened at the moment.
”What do you sense?”
"I can see that there is something there, an energy that I can reach if I can just dig a little further, I might be able to reach out on my own and be able to use it… Just a little further." he said in response to King Kai's statement about the Warrior’s Bastion technique. There was just a hint of a spark that was dormant within Callion; the very technique that was within reaching distance, and having to push for a little more until his body began to glow with an orange ki before King Kai’s eyes. A smile of approval was met once he saw the Saiyan managing to harness the power in the short span of time, evident to how he was progressing so quickly throughout his whole time in the Otherworld, that paved the mark of his training.
King Kai accepted the cup of tea, taking a sip of the beverage before sighing happily at the results that he was watching. He knew it was only a matter of time for Callion to truly get into the swing of his training, but the attention to detail Callion's mind took either the smallest things somehow made it more real than real life in a way--like there was an ever processing mind that was working overtime in a calculating way for the Saiyan monk to fully harness the raw potential of each technique and applying them in half the time it took to not only study the move but also make it work in a real combat situation.
“Even now you surprise me even more Callion. Honestly, I only have to blink these days and you’re awakening moves that I’d be surprise was even possible to learn. Sounds like the planet is doing better for you now than I expected.” King Kai replied with a chuckle, pouring himself another cup of tea after watching the very orange ki disappearing with the Saiyan monk sighing to himself with a stretch of his body. “So? You want to join me in this tea Callion? Would be rather nice to relax for a change.”
Callion took the moment to think for himself… Wanting to ask the question with what was going down on Earth, if Liari was upholding her goal to helping the others, Quash, Zerori, Tabu, Plasma and Ayu were safe and getting stronger… Too many variables and questions to ask…
Until the Saiyan Monk simply smiled… Allowing such questions to be placed at the back of his mind.
At least for the moment.
“Sure King Kai. Tea sounds great right now.”
