It was certainly a strange situation that Derrick has found himself in...
About two days ago, Derrick had made perhaps the biggest bank heist in South City that the Dirty Snakes have yet pulled off. Everything was going pretty well until a certain android decided to start messing things up for their robbery, but that whole ordeal was an entirely different story. Long story short, Derrick was forced to retreat as the police arrived at the scene, and he decided to take to the seas to evade them by stowing away on a boat being ran by a couple, looking to sail the seas after a wonderful day of drinking. Then the three of them just so happened to have ran right into none other than a slaver ship, resulting in damage to the hull of the massive slaver ship and knocking Derrick unconscious as he bumps his head against one of the walls of the compartment he was hiding in. They eventually found him when looting the couple's ship, and low and behold, the mighty boss of the Dirty Snakes was captured by a bunch of nobodies.
Now stowed away in a steel cage and clamped with power damping restraints, Derrick had little choice but to sit around and wait. He never contacted his men before the crash, so they wouldn't have a clue as to where the hell he was. The boss was truly on his own for this one... Or was he? One of the few perks with just being kept around in a cage and doing nothing much else is that it gives him plenty of time to think, time for planning, and he thinks that there might just be a way for him to get out. By himself, he won't be able to accomplish much of anything, but perhaps he could get a bit of assistance from some of the other slaves.
In the middle of the night, one of the slaves in another cage started to cry out in pain, groaning due to what he describes as some sort of sickness. He constantly complains that it came from the food he was given, but the slavers just weren't having it tonight. They wanted some peace and quiet, and this one single slave was ruining it. The gang sends one slaver up to check up on him and attempt to get him to shut up, the bulky man pulling out the key ring and unlocking his cell. The moment the door swung open, however, the slave retaliated and started beating the guard over the head with his restraints. The swift strikes and sudden surprise were just barely enough to knock the man unconscious, allowing the slave to grab the keys, unlock his own restraints and walk over to Derrick's cage, just according to plan. He knew the lone man wouldn't survive on the slaver's ship by himself, so he'll need some firepower... Literally.
He opens Derry's cage and unlocks his restraints, giving Derry full access to his powers. He turns to the scrawny man and orders, "Go ahead and unlock the others. I have a bit of unfinished business to attend to. Probably best for you lot to take the life boats." The man silently nods as he goes around to unlock the rest of the prisoners one by one, including the couple Derrick was with earlier. The crime lord heads below deck, and taking the slavers by surprise as they had expected the return of the one they sent above. Unfortunately for them, with his restraints taken off, Derry had no intentions on holding anything back against the men who would dare attempt to sell him off. He unleashes a hail of fireballs right at the men, setting them aflame and forcing them to either rush past Derrick to fall overboard and reach water or to roll around and hope to extinguish the flames.
Whatever it was they were doing, Derry didn't care too much. He just needed them distracted for a bit as he headed down to the engine room. He kicks down the door and looks for any gas and oil cans. Lucky for him, he found two full containers of gasoline just waiting for him. He pours the contents of the first can all over the engine to the ship before taking the second can and spill it over the floor, slowly leaving the room to create a trail all the way up to the deck. With the can empty, the boss tosses it aside and snaps his fingers, creating a tiny pink flame on the tip of his right pointer finger. He slowly moves it towards the puddle of gas in front of him, and it suddenly ignites, a trail of flames shooting down towards the very bottom of the ship and heading straight towards the engine. Derrick would love to see the fireworks, but he'll need to appreciate it from a distance.
He flies up into the air just as a massive explosion overtakes the bottom half of the ship, immediately rocking it around and forcing part of it to submerge. He looks around and spots two life boats in total, likely filled with the slaves as they slowly paddle away from the exploding ship. Derrick, however, takes the opportunity to float in the air and watch his work unfold. Strangely enough he didn't spot any of the slavers either swimming around or panicking on deck, but he was still enjoying the fireworks as the vessel slowly sank into the ocean. When the show is finally over, Derrick turns his back on the ship and takes off, now tasked with trying to figure out just where the hell he was considering how he was still surrounded by water. Surely he'll come across some land soon, right?
