Thread PL: 1,561 | Items: None | WC: 422 | TWC: 422 Of all of the cities that Derrick has attempted to spread the Dirty Snakes' influence in, East City has surprisingly enough been the one that was the most difficult to maintain even a miniscule foothold. Whether that would be due to groups of interest such as the Red Ribbon Army getting in the way of his dealings or if the local police force are actually able to bust their operations, the city has been mostly free of Snake influence. Hopefully with this business trip that Derry is on, he can attempt to start changing things around and create a far more proper foothold. Sure, it likely would never reach the same heights as their HQ back in North City, but it could at the very least last longer than just a few weeks before crumbling down. Hopefully it could even make back the money that was sunk into the place this time.
Speaking of groups of interest, it's been strangely quiet not hearing anything regarding the Red Ribbon Army in quite some time now. Either his informants are starting to slack off, or something's up. As much as he trusts in his own power, the mob boss is afraid that he might just be a bit outclassed in terms of raw strength. With all of the stories he's been hearing about the saiyans and changelings, things aren't exactly looking too bright for the organization unless they can figure out how to beef themselves up. Mercenaries and temporary hires would do well in the short term, and it seems like at the rate things are going, Derry's going to need to splurge on some extra muscle if he wants a bigger impact on the criminal underworld. As to who would even be up to such a thing, well, that's a good question.
As he was walking past a dark alleyway, however, he felt a hand near his pocket. He turns around to attempt to strike someone in the face, only to miss completely as the stranger immediately bolted further into said alleyway. The mob boss feels his pocket a bit and notices that his wallet was plucked right off of him. He's been carrying around quite a bit of zeni in that wallet, and he has no plans on losing it now. He too begins sprinting down the alleyway, chasing right after the robber. When he gets his hands on that little bastard, no god on this planet would save him, this Derrick swears...

East city was probably the only city May avoided as much as the north, the western and southern continents were generally more to her liking. Though, there were plenty of things that caused her to need to travel. A home in West City was in her line of sight but she came here for emotional reasons. It was just outside of East City, where she had last trained with her father, where she had killed him. She was growing stronger, wiser to the power that was inside of her. Maycair chose to killer father, she came to terms with that, but she did not remember it until well she had learned to wrestle the beast inside of her. The strange sentiment had brought here here, mostly just to process.
Thankfully unlike her last time wandering she made sure not to go in the dark alley. She wasn’t going to run into any shady strangers but, just her like, one happened to be running towards her. A man, rather weak it seemed was rushing with something. He didn’t see Maycair, it was easy to look over the short hybrid but, she was a powerful shortstop. With the full brunt of her weight Maycair would roll into him. The folding feeling of his bones was a terrible origami, an art of contortion she wasn’t happy to be apart of. “OOh only meant to stop you, maybe you shouldn’t go stealing?”
“Augh who the hell rolls into someone’s knees what are you a monster? Blue freak you broke one of my legs!” The criminal had screamed at her. May didn’t wanna be the bad guy, so it was a good thing he was. “Well, maybe you really should’ve watched where you were going, I was just trying to protect myself. I can make the other leg match though if you have an issue?” She would say, skipping over to him, raising her above his left leg. She wouldn’t flex her power, she wasn’t a bully, she was even being dampened right now. Still, sometimes people needed a lesson.
“So, do you want me to do this quickly or are we gonna behave? I’m sure the person you took that from would be happy to see you here maybe I could find them and bring them to you. I’d say don’t go anywhere, but I don’t think you have a choice, unless you got somewhere better to be?” May thought she was funny, though the groans she got in turn made her think he didn’t agree. Though, it sounded, or felt as if someone a little stronger was on their way. He wasn’t sure, hopefully it was the man’s poor victim. She didn’t feel like getting into fights. Looking down she would smile again, offering him some options. “So, you wanna give them their money back or should I let them take it. I’ve found its nice to give gifts when making new friends so I think I’ll do that.”
She couldn’t see them just yet, but May would speak up. “Hey, sorry to get in your way, but I think I found something that is yours, lost thief, carrying a wallet. I felt like being a Good Samaritan, wanted to stick around and make sure you got your property.”

PL: 1,561 | WC: 333 | TWC: 755 As Derrick was getting his cardio in while attempting to track down and bring the sniveling thief to justice, he's a bit surprised that he isn't the first one to catch the criminal. He came second to what appeared to be a rather short, blue-skinned humanoid, likely a demon since he doubts there are many people that have that shade of blue. It's unfortunate that he can't tell how strong she is given that his scouter sunglasses aren't functioning at the moment, but given how easily she's handled the swiper, she should be at minimum stronger than average. She seems more than willing to give back his wallet, and she's acting like a good ol' Samaritan, which to Derry was certainly strange. Most demons would merely take the opportunity to steal from the thief or even torture him, but then again pretty much all of the demons Derrick deals with are themselves criminals.
Derrick reaches over and takes the wallet back from the demon, thanking her and stating, "Well well, and just when I thought I had to do just a bit more cardio. Thanks for the help, miss..?" It's natural for Derry to attempt to grab as much information out of new faces as much as he can, especially those that he hasn't been able to record in any of his files back at base. Again, it would prove to be difficult to put any impactful combat data in there considering his lack of scouter sunglasses, but it isn't impossible. As for the criminal, he would only give a cold glare, with his eyes ever so slightly peaking at him from underneath his sunglasses. Getting kicked down onto the ground wouldn't be the only thing Derrick would do to a thief bold or stupid enough to steal from a crime boss, but it isn't like he can do this in front of someone who was willing to stop a criminal for the sake of others.

“The names Maycair, nice to meet you, he looked like he was a in a rush and just what do you know the wallet he dropped looked nothing like him. I didn’t think he had plastic surgery so it was good you weren’t far behind.” May joked a little, she was in a good mood today now. This wasn’t exactly the peachiest of places to be in so she was surprised that a swell mood could be attained. Could’ve been a bit of mania but seemed a little selfish to think of her mental health. Getting out of her head for just a moment Maycair would speak up again. “I’d love to know your name, and this place.”
After a moment of thinking Maycair would continue to talk, Anxiety setting in. “Sorry if that was strange I just meant its only polite and that I’m just lost. I kinda know my way around the place but I haven’t been back here in a decade now. Things seem to change all around when you’re away from a place for too long, I’ve seen most of the world at this point but I’ve done what I could running away from my memories. Not as hard as this guy was running away from you amirite?” Why was she doing this, why was she even still talking it was straight embarrassing at this point. That was Mania, if she didn’t put a lid on it then soon the Hybrid would start talking to herself.
Backing off for a bit she centered herself, calming down, looking up at the much larger man. He didn’t seem very strong, stronger than most humans she ran into for sure. He was strong enough to hurt the man on the floor. Oh he probably wanted to get some revenge. She didn’t want to say more at this point, in the worry of looking even more like a weirdo. Now she would oh so smoothly slide over, ushering for him to have a moment with the fallen thief. Though, she was not nearly as smooth as she thought.

Thread PL: 1,561 | WC: 611 | TWC: 1,366 Well, she seemed to be in quite a bit of a good mood as she was starting to crack a few jokes. Derrick silently replies back to them with a faint smile adorned on his face as his attention snaps back to her. Perhaps he was still thinking about what to do with that thief for too long, so he'll just have to ignore the guy for now. Then there was the name: Maycair. He at least had a name to attach to a face when he gets back to HQ, so it's at least a start to a file. Still, a start is merely just that, and if he wants to make a file warranted, he's going to need to figure a few more things out about her. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't ask any questions quite yet as she's fired back her own questions, asking for his name and where they were.
He pauses for a brief moment, debating whether or not he really should let her know given his status. After a bit more internal debate, however, the crime boss comes to the conclusion that if she didn't recognize him by the hair, she won't recognize him by name. "Derrick Ottoy, Miss Maycair," he introduces himself, "And given where we are, I think that we might just be a few blocks away from the nearest supermarket. I don't take too many opportunities to visit East City myself. Always been a North City guy myself, but I know a few key spots here and there. That'll at least give you a start." Derry does have to admit that this demon seems to act a bit peculiar. Perhaps she doesn't get many opportunities to get some proper social time in, or is there's something else that he isn't quite aware of.
The mob boss is a bit surprised that she backed away from the criminal on the ground, motioning as if she was letting Derrick have his turn with the guy. Once more, he'd do so much worse to the man had Maycair not been present, but there's always another way he can get the point across. "I think getting taken down by you is probably decent enough for a pickpocket. The police station should actually be situated about two blocks east of here. Think what this guy needs is a bit of time behind bars if you ask me." Normally he'd be fine going to the station since he's bribed pretty much most of the cops in the city, but they weren't exactly in North City. Though he's lesser known in East City, the cops are a bit less susceptible to bribes... Still, he's got a few boys in prison that can most certainly pay the thief a visit every now and then when Derrick gives them the message.
He wouldn't even share a word with the criminal as Derrick moves over and yanks the man off of the ground suddenly, showing that he was indeed far stronger than the pickpocket. He starts heading down the alleyway with the thief in tow as he looks behind himself and asks Maycair, "Perhaps you would like to accompany me? I could use someone to watch my back while I take him back myself." Whether or not she would accompany him, Derry steps out of the alleyway and starts striding towards the station. Given how close it is, it would only be a mere few minutes, perhaps warranting that he wouldn't really need any protection. Then again it only took a single moment for him to get robbed, so who knows if it's necessary.

“Well very nice to meet, you Derrick, it was no problem at all I am very happy to help. North city isn’t all that bad but I’m more used to warmer places. Still I appreciate the directions, glad I’m not very busy today.” May was glad to be of help, more recently it had been easier to socialize. This was an upward trend, hopefully the ride wouldn’t crash down from poor decision making. Derrick had gotten the man that he wanted and May had a better sense of where to go. Still it didn’t feel right to just head out on her own. They could have certainly gone about their own lives. Something deep tugged at her, maybe it was fate, her own intuition or the fact that he was verbally inviting her along to join him.
This was all May was going to be doing for the day, going for a walk, searching for a fine meal, maybe talking to more random strangers if they were kind enough. This did sound like a more satisfying option, plus there was the chance she’d be able to make a companion. With a chipper smile she skipped over to the larger man. She wondered if he had any awareness of her strength. He was just glad to not be treated like a monster. With a fanged smile she replied. “I think that sounds like a lovely idea. I’m sure a walk to the station would be much more fun with a companion. I’m not so sure how happy they would be to see me though. I’m not exactly wanted but often I’m made out to be a random thug. They don’t even think I commit the cool crimes, just random assault. Though I guess his condition isn’t the argument for my case.”
With a slight glance at the injured man she looked up again. It was strange that he was being nice, she wasn’t full demon or saiyan but if anyone guess either or generally it wasn’t an easy experience. May didn’t like to advertise it, especially the saiyan side. Curiosity had over won fear at this point. May had to have answers. So looking up once more at the towering Derrick she would question. “I will say it’s curious to see someone, who I assume is human, to show kindness towards me. Even when being helpful people don’t show kindness for creatures they don’t understand. If you haven’t noticed I’m not exactly a normal creature. Everyone thinks I’m an alien, they’re not wrong to a degree but I’m not that easy to explain. Sorry I don’t mean to put this one you, its just nice to have someone to talk to.”
It was a bit embarrassing to start sharing with a stranger but, it was worse to hold it in all the time. The pain was leaking out. If her current training hadn’t started just recently she would have even more issues containing her cool. As smooth as she was trying to be, the memory, the ghost of Hunni Due Malone was beginning to eat at her. He was gone, it was her fault but it was for the better. It was sickening to have to feel proud about killing one’s father.

WC: 566 | TWC: 1,932 Maycair seems to be a lot nicer than pretty much every demon Derrick's come across. Even Hazel wasn't this nice when they initially met, and they're married together. She even seems to beam a bit as he requests that she accompany him while they take the crook to the police station, which although it wasn't exactly his plan prior to being stolen from, he doesn't much mind doing this so long as he earns the trust of a seemingly powerful individual, on top of potentially prying out more information. The demon seemed rather happy to accompany Derry to the station, mentioning that he's some sort of companion already despite how they've met only minutes ago. It's nice to know that it was this easy to earn her trust, but now it was time to try and see what he can discover.
"Appearances can be deceiving, Maycair. It's a common phrase thrown around so often than I'm still a bit surprised when people just refuse to take those words to heart," Derrick chimes in, internally not entirely surprised by what the police think of demons. It isn't too much of a secret that some of the real awful ones out there tend to partake in criminal activity, and Derry himself knows this more than anybody else considering how often he takes them under his wing in the Dirty Snakes as gangsters. Being presented with a demon so concerned with the wellbeing of others is rather interesting to him. "If you haven't done anything to warrant such scorn, then it's a damn shame what people may think of you based upon your looks."
Maycair then makes her very own observation, wondering about Derrick's own behavior towards her given the general reputation her kind have. Perhaps he let the tiniest bit of his mask slip given how many criminals that work under him are demons and that he's used to them, but he's more than certain to weasel his way out of these kinds of situations given how often he has to do so. "Of course, of course," Derry brushes off her last comment, "Everyone has their own frustrations that they just want to get out. Trust me, I'm more than familiar with that. Of course, I treat everybody I meet about the same since, well, I have a tendency to work with demons as an employer. Gives them a chance in the real world and all that. Doesn't matter if one's a demon, human, changeling, android, or saiyan so long as you can work. It's all about merit. Hell, how would one react if they met my-Oh, here we are."
Derrick stops right in front of the entrance to the station, with an officer looking over to where he, Maycair, and the pickpocket are at. He stares over at Maycair for a bit as he approaches, asking the mob boss, "And what's going on here?" "Dropping off a pickpocket," Derry begins explaining before eyeing over to Maycair, "Might've actually succeeded if not for her." The officer once again looks back at the demon and raises his brow at her, asking her, "You?" He writes something down on a notepad, muttering something under his breath before turning back towards the station, ordering, "Keep 'em right there. I'll be right back," before opening the station doors and entering, leaving the three of them waiting outside.

"Those are words I wish more people took to heart, I might have had kinder experiences in my youth. I may look young with my stature but I'm more than old enough to know the soft pang of pain well past but not forgotten." Sorrow lingered on her tongue for but a moment. It was not the time for such sad thoughts, with the creeping wave of worry the only cure was the embrace of the good. She was making a new friend, if there was any time for that talkative nervous nature to peak its' head, that time would be now. "I was born to a saiyan and demon pairing, they raised me to be a weapon, their weapon but I chose my own path. This was the last place I saw my father before fighting him off for my independence. There's a lingering, a phantom I can't seem to escape, but the more I see this place has changed the lighter makes my lungs."
May tried to explain a bit of her situation, so he could understand why she would appreciate his open-mindedness. A slight giggle would follow. "You know I think my most recent employer would agree with that sentiment of yours on work. He seems to value what helps bring in the buck and keeps everything safe, stable, and functioning in its' place. I've never found my work directed, I know I'm looking for places to belong still. Might pick up a second job if I need to, mostly a joke, But everything I've done has been a fight, so the only thing I understand is giving everything my all. I agree it is the effort that people put in that decides how the day should fall."
As a small response before they reached the station, May would chime with a bit of a smile "Oh you're a business owner? that's pretty neat I seem to be meeting all kinds of folks these days."
That smile would be a bit faded when they reached the station. Most of the time the officials weren't too helpful, officers often thought May was a lost child or a monster. For once, someone was on her side to talk to the police, so hopefully this time it would go a bit better. She wasn't here for credit, she was just trying to do what seemed like the right thing at that moment.
After being spoken to she became flustered for a moment, rushing to gain control as pink passion pressed at her cheeks. The feeling was easy to see in her blue face, but May still gave her best response. "Y-yes officer! I saw him fleeing the scene with the wallet, he tried to attack me after we bumped into each other, and I did my best to defend myself and keep him at bay till the owner arrived. I was glad to help this gentleman, but we thought it only proper to bring him to you. I wasn't looking to be a vigilante." It was the honest truth, mostly, especially the vigilante part.

WC: 611 | TWC: 2,543 Derrick didn't expect to receive as much information as he did, but he certainly isn't complaining. He honestly believes that she is far too trusting for her own good, but given how confident she might possibly be in her own strength, would it stand to reason that she should hide such information? She was raised to be a weapon according to her words, after all, so surely she must be quite strong in her own right. She seems so firmly on the side of the law, so she might pose as a threat to the Dirty Snakes at some point. As it stands right now, however, she has no clue on Derry's connections to the organization, so perhaps he could use that to his advantage, but how? "Ah, that's a damn shame," Derrick replies back after her remarks on her own origins, "Funnily enough, I never knew my parents. Dropped me right off at the nearest adoption center. Probably for the best given how quickly they decided to dump me. But hey, I suppose it turned out well for me in the end, so who's to say."
It was at that point that Derrick finally found his way to use Maycair the moment she mentions possibly needing a second job, especially since she's an expert in fighting. "Hmm..." he mutters under his breath, as if considering his options after her statement. He can't really get her to do any actual jobs with the other Snakes, but perhaps...
His trail of thought would be cut off as the two of them begin speaking to the police officer at the station. As Derry recounts his tale of what just happened, he allows Maycair the opportunity to speak up herself, and she certainly doesn't disappoint. The officer continues to squint at her as she finishes her tale before heading back in to get some backup and some proper handcuffs. With the two them alone again (ignoring the thief), Derrick finishes his thoughts and turns to Maycair, asking her, "If you are perhaps more serious about looking for a second job, then perhaps I might be of some use. The city's a dangerous place sometimes, and who knows who'll come out to try and take what I possess. I could always appreciate the extra muscle and another soul to speak my mind to."
Bodyguard duty would likely be the best option since he would be the only person she would interact with under the vast majority of circumstances, with very rare exceptions like Hazel popping up every now and then. He's more than confident that he can keep that façade up. After a bit of time has passed to give her a bit to consider such an offer, the policeman comes back outside, now in tow with a second officer and a shiny pair of handcuffs. Derrick moves the thief over to the officer with handcuffs, who promptly locks the guy in and moves him back to the station. The officer turns back to the duo and replies, "Appreciate that. That guy was Ravio Steu. He's been a bit of a rising star for pickpockets. Here." The man pulls out two slips of paper before continuing, "You can take this over to the bank to get your rewards. It's split since there's two of you, so however you want to divide is up to you." The officer gives Maycair one last look as Derry continues to stand in silence before heading back into the station.
"You can just take the reward yourself," Derrick speaks up once the man was gone, "You were the one to bring him down, after all."

May thought about it for a bit, he wasn't wrong exactly. Well in the way that sometimes these poor circumstances were for the best. She wasn't really a believer in fate, but life did seem to have a funny way of making plans. Plans that were unfortunate, downright dismal if she was, to be honest to herself. There was always the chance, that fate could be many different multitudes of cruel. Living, and playing with the hand you were given was important. Maycair was certainly dealt an extra shitty hand, just made it more impressive when her skill set would shine through. If roughhousing could be considered a skill that was, then it could be a career path.
It was only a bit of jesting, small posturing, still, the proposition of extra cash was promising. The wallet on her hip was a little light, she would be the most reliable traveling around so long though. It was a bit of an enigma, problem solving was never her strong suit as a kid, which was really coming back to bite. "Well I could use the extra cash, plus providing some protection is within my skill set. I have to travel for my other job now and then, but I can get between here and there within a few hours of flying." Why did she make promises?? There was always the chance that things could go awry. May was lonely though, any sort of companionship even hired was a godsend.
Pathetic thoughts aside, they would get their payment rather quickly. The officer took no delay in getting them vouchers, being a bounty hunter could be pretty cool if it paid this much as well. It was rather polite for him to split it since they both turned him in, but it seemed Derrick would have none of it. Could've been feelings of guilt or genuine gratitude, didn't make it any easier for May to take the money. "I'm not sure if I can take all of this, it doesn't feel right, all I did was get in the way at the right time. I can hold my own, I'd still love to work for you but I can't be so dishonest as to take this money all for myself." She really did have a bizarre set of morals. It wasn't stealing that was an issue, but honesty was important amongst friends.
"I'm already willing to take your offer up on work, so I don't need to take this money which is meant to be shared. I should be more than able to get on with the wages I earn. As long as I have a conversation, a way to vent out this energy, and a fine meal I should always be set to go!" May tried saying with a bit of optimism. It was hard to try and stay chipper, especially in this city but Derrick seemed like a good individual. Did she really have the best radar for making friends?
"Well" she would continue "with that, do you have more business to attend to today? Anything else I can properly help you with. I was thinking about acquiring myself lunch. Do you care to join? Sorry if that's too forward, I just don't know anyone in the city, I've been told that meals are often better enjoyed with company!" Was she really one to say on that either? No one had shared a meal with Maycair in over a decade. It was disheartening, there would be no good in dwelling on such negative thoughts. It was just so embarrassing, so mind-racking to try and get out of her comfort zone. Having a single friend, or just two, even if they were her bosses, was good enough. One could only spend so much of their life in isolation, it was poison. A poison that was breaking her down further with each passing day, she wanted to take the anti-venom, tthe cure to this social anxiety.

WC: 452 | TWC: 2,995 It seems like Maycair was at the very least somewhat onboard with the idea of acting as a bodyguard for Derrick while he wandered around in public. Of course, given how her first job could probably get in the way of that a bit, she won't be always available to perform her duties, but thankfully it isn't like Derry needs her all the time, especially since plenty of that time is going to be spent with the Dirty Snakes, planning out and executing their big gigs. She absolutely shouldn't see any of that, or else that would run the risk of her turning against Derry, and without any reliable way to measure her current power, it's a huge risk and he'd be labeled a moron if he tried to take it. He's slowly built his own littly tiny criminal empire, and he is not going to have it ruined so soon. "Well, if you are available, then it would be great to have you around," Derrick replies and gives her a soft smile.
Surprisingly enough to Derry, Maycair appears to be rather hesitant at taking the money for the reward from him, mentioning that she was only just in the area and that she's already going to be working for him. Of course, given the line of work the man is in himself and his own personal greed, he's a bit baffled by how generous one can be. He was only really doing it just to look good in front of her and to earn more of her trust, but now it seems like it isn't even necessary for him to do. "Alright, then you'll take at least some of the reward. You did manage to stop the man in the first place, and that alone should be a reward in of itself. Are you willing to take half?" He asks, though in reality she should be taking more than just a measly half.
Afterwards, the demon even asks if there was anything else going on in Derrick's day, and asked if there was a chance that he would get some lunch with her. Beforehand, he was only really strolling around until the incident with the thief, but now with the reward in hand he had a new plan on heading over to the bank to get his zeni. "Lunch sounds pretty nice right now, if I say so. The only other plan in my head would be to head on over to the bank to get the reward, so sure. We can go to a spot, get some food, and head over there to cash in. Do you happen to know any spots that are particularly appetizing?"

"Thank you, I'll definitely take your offer when I'm in town, or around, I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship!" May couldn't believe she just said that. Actually referred to someone or something as a friendship, no it was more appropriate to say it was a partnership. "Well, as friendly as a boss and bodyguard can be, though the more I do know the more I can protect you." Nice backpedal, now she wouldn't seem like so much of a creep. That was the perspective Maycair held, the petite devilish woman probably seemed like a gremlin to most.
"I can take half, as long as its' a fair split." she would say, knowing it was always better to compromise. "I tend to end up having to do this as my main source of income, so if anyone comes after you and I take them down in service of you I'm more than happy for some of those funds to be allocated towards your operations as extra income. Not sure if that would be useful to your line of work but I've often found extra money is pretty useful either way." May was using it as a chance to provide some more reasons why she could be a valuable asset. It was gathered skill after being alone for so long, when people want you around it's good to provide pros for why they want you.
The true enigma of the day, would not be how to get through the tide of the day, nay it was to find some scrumptious snacks. May rattled her brain, ideas rolling around, falling like dice. The chance of choice was always random when you don't remember a place very well. It had been years since she last wandered the streets of East City, but diner diving was always her favorite hobby. There had to be at least one old spot sitting in the back of her mind, it was a true mental workout. A burger joint? No, she knew WonderBurger had closed down, that was the only place worth going to in terms of burgers. Then, like a strike of lightning, an idea would hit her.
"You know, I think I have the perfect spot in mind, just near the city center there is this wonderful small ramen stall. It's very personal, lowkey and the food is too die for. They have some great appetizers like gyoza, or yakiniku surprisingly to grill, the ramen is generally done pretty quick though. If you're up for I think you'll have your taste buds blown out of the water!" She couldn't believe she forgot about Yukimori Ramen, that was her one comfort as a child. Maybe this town wasn't all bad memories even if her home life was atrocious.

WC: 418 | TWC: 3,413 Derry does admit that he's still getting a bit surprised at just how kind Maycair was, and especially how trusting she is of him already. It seems like even she was a bit aware at how that all sounded, and she attempted to start backpedaling a bit. The fact that she even said it in the first place, however, was certainly more than intriguing to Derrick. Perhaps she really can be easily molded, which might prove to be useful in the far future. "I'm certainly glad that you're rather eager to take up such a proposition," he points out, "I always enjoy seeing enthusiastic employees." The boss raises his sunglasses to rest upon his forehead as the two of them continue their little debate as to how to split up the reward and who is taking the money.
She seems more willing to at least take half of the reward rather than forfeiting the entire thing, though she does bring up how the extra funds can help with businesses and keeping operations running smoothly there, something that Derrick most definitely agrees with. It can get a bit expensive at times hosting the Snakes. The demon brings up more reasons as to how effective she could be as a guard while she's around Derrick, which was something that he honestly didn't need too much of at this point. She's already demonstrated enough that she's capable. "You've certainly proven yourself already, Maycair," he reassures her, "But of course, extra funding most definitely helps businesses. I just think that you deserve your own compensation."
The matter of lunch was brought to the forefront, and it took Maycair a bit of time to think of a spot, but she eventually thinks up of a place the two of them can kick back, relax, and enjoy a good meal. Apparently there was a ramen stall nearby that she claims has some of the best ramen around, which was certainly a bold statement given some of the places that Derrick himself has been to in North City. Of course, what kind of person would he be to deny trying out some food here in East City. "Well then, it certainly sounds quite appetizing. I haven't had ramen in quite some time, so I'm certainly curious as to what East City has to offer in terms of its own ramen," Derrick comments. "Of course, I do not know the way to the stall, so you'll have to take the lead here."

"Allow me to lead the way, It shouldn't be a far walk from her from my estimation. It goes by the name of Yukimori Ramen, it should be closer to the city's heart. They might have remodeled a bit so the place probably has a differing aesthetic to my memory. If it still holds up the place should have blue and white banners depicting trees covered in snow. The family lived in the snow mountains, having taken their names from it. A lot of the things they used to have a hearty lifestyle are transferred as ingredients that will provide a meal that is rewarding in flavor and nutrients. They would say it gave you the smile and strength to conquer any day. The only reason I know all this is because they would often mention it to me. While I was a young kid they were one of the few people that tolerated me. I wouldn't go far as to say they were nice most of the time, but they let me spend my money and linger around longer than I should of. It shows care in their own way of appreciation, they often yelled I scared away customers."
May thought about it, sometimes the things she heard from them were harsh. Despite that, she was never banned or forcibly removed from the property. People were confusing their words and feelings often didn't match, that wasn't right in her eyes. Most of those occasions lead to emotional damage for May. She needed to learn to navigate this world, to understand people better. That was the motivation behind it all. May wanted companionship, everything came with a cost, for her it was the pain of failure, of failed connections tearing her apart. The best way to grow was to face fears one on one, staring down the beast until it cowered.
"See the road up there, the one that leads behind the wall. From what I remember we cut around there and continue for five minutes. After enough time has passed we should be at an intersection leading to the commercial and residential districts. At that cross that's where we'll find the stand. It's a great location at night between traveling folks. Around this time in the evening, they should just be opening up. The meat will be finished roasted, the toppings still nice and fresh, should give us the perfect bowl in my opinion." May was hoping to start a conversation, or rather maybe have something for them to connect on. Maycair was also just excited about the food. There was a good chance the day's earnings would be spent on a miniature feast at the stand. There was a chance they might be annoyed, but at the end of the day they'd appreciate the generous spending she'd make.

WC: 450 | TWC: 3,863 The two of them begin moving towards the ramen stall, appropriately named Yukimori Ramen. Thankfully it wouldn't be too much of a walk for them, likely taking around a measly five minutes to arrive at their destination. The demon attempts to strike up a conversation between the two of them, going on about the general history of the stall and how she used to go there when she was far younger. Derrick notes that this was one of the few places where the people there would tolerate someone like her. To Derry it seems like they really kept her around possibly because they felt some sort of sympathy for her, but the money definitely helps. "I see," he mutters, "Most of my own childhood was mostly spent either with the others at the orphanage or with the poor kids nearby."
He glances back far into his life, back when he was still just a kid, back when they began to turn on him when they saw his flames and blamed him for when it all came crashing down, back when they first entered his mind... "Didn't last forever in my case, though. I had to strike out on my own eventually, and eventually I got myself an education and began building up my own business. Back then, there was occasional scorn or bullying, but that's all pretty much in the past at this point. I've made a decent living for myself, and I can now just kick back and relax with my wife at my side, as it should be." Hazel was most certainly another reason as to why he is so content with his current position in life, but deep down he knows that he can do better. It's why he still works, after all. Rich folks aren't going to rob themselves, after all.
The two of them get closer and closer to the stall, and the demon couldn't help but begin to talk about the actual food itself. Derrick himself wasn't someone who tends to relish in the quality of the food that he eats, but he couldn't help but get a little bit excited at the anticipation of seeing what all the fuss is about with this place. "You sure do give quite a bit of praise to this stall," he comments, "Must be real special if that's the case. I wouldn't really call myself a 'food guy' or someone who goes out of their way to enjoy the finest that food has to offer, but you most definitely have my attention set squarely on this place. Perhaps I need to visit East City just a bit more often if that's the case."
