It was day three of preparing to fight Liari. Quash did the same thing he always did. He got up, grabbed his Three-Section-Staff, and went to work in the Gravitron yet again. This time he was really going to push himself to the test. With close-range combat being his specialty when it came to using this weapon, he was going to see just how good he actually was. On top of that, he wanted to see if he could push the Training Dummy’s adaptation to the limit.
Quash entered the Gravitron, turning the dial on the console the maximum 50x Gravity. Once the Artificial Gravity kicked in, he flew over to the Training Dummy and turned it on. He walked back and got into a fighting stance of his own. It got into the same fighting stance that it usually did, and Quash prepared himself for a fight. He gave the robot the command it needed so that it was cleared to fight. And with that, the violence began. The robot immediately went on the offensive, and so did the Captain.
Quash was the one with the advantage in the beginning. As expected, the Training Dummy needed time to get a feel for Quash’s moves. The saiyan used this time to really flex on his opponent, even though it was just a robot. To be honest, he just wanted to feed his ego for a little bit and really style on it. Sounds of metal striking metal filled the room as the saiyan continued to demonstrate how skillful he had gotten with this weapon. He kneed it in the stomach as he raised both ends of the staff in the air before bringing them both on its shoulders.
The blow knocked the robot onto the ground and Quash backed up to gather himself. He let the robot recover, wanting to allow it to adapt so he could actually get more of a workout from it. The robot got up and appeared to be processing the information as if it was taking in what Quash had just done and was now performing countermeasures for it. It got into a stance that was slightly different than before. It had clearly made some kind of an adjustment, and Quash was eager to test out what it thought was necessary to take him down.
This time, it was Quash that went on the attack first. He made the first swing and… it was blocked! Before he could even make the next move, he was struck in the jaw by the Training Dummy once again. It moved forward to make another move, landing a sharp blow into his stomach. He bent over in pain before getting hit with yet another hit. This time, it was an uppercut right into his face. His body was stumbling back from the impact. The robot continued its assault, now forcing him on the defensive.
The computers sure work quickly. DId their processing speed also get faster as well? Compared to his other training session, this time it felt slightly faster. It was probably because Quash went extremely hard at the beginning instead of warming up, allowing the robot to have tons of data to go through and analyze. Oh well, it was too late now. Besides, this was the point. He needed the push, no matter how hard it was. His enemies weren’t going to go easy, so neither did he. Quash began to make his own adjustments to the robot’s movements, slowly beginning to get more and more parries in.
Eventually, he had completely gotten used to it. Quash fighting the dummy on even footing, though he was practically going all out at this point. His instincts had fully kicked in, allowing him to read the robot’s every movement. He was careful to not take a wrong step, as it certainly meant he was going to get caught in another combo. He could feel himself becoming more aware and honing in his skill. It was like his body learning from the experience. Typical of a saiyan, but oddly it was a feeling that he never got used to.
Suddenly, the robot made another leap in difficulty. This time, it was far beyond anything that Quash had experienced at this point. At a moment’s notice, it had gotten significantly faster, and sharper, and was aiming for way more vulnerable areas. As soon as he felt his muscle twitch, he was already struck with another blow by the Training Dummy. The next shot was aimed at his liver, causing him to keel over from the pain that had overwhelmed him! The robot kicked his body to the wall across the room and sprinted towards him at a much faster pace.
Quash couldn’t help but be in awe. It was like the robot was reading his mind! He couldn’t even piss without it knowing about it! How was he supposed to overcome something like that? Wait, no, that was his doubts talking. He needed to overcome those. As the robot made another attempt to strike, he performed the afterimage technique. He hadn’t used that move yet this session, so the robot wasn’t expecting it. That was good for him because now was his chance to make his comeback!
He was behind the Training Dummy and went for another staff strike. The robot went to parry the hit, but Quash was already prepared and had another strike with his other hand. There was another parry, but another strike. Rinse and repeat. At this point, it was a contest of speed. Who was faster than the other, and who would make the first mistake? Quash was throwing attack after attack at a faster and faster rate. In fact, to an outside viewer, it may even look like he had more than two arms with how fast he was. The robot was keeping up, parrying just as fast, but Quash refused to budge.
With a warrior’s cry, Quash had pushed his body beyond its limits, increasing his speed to where the robot couldn’t keep up. It was overpowered, being hit with a barrage of stick strikes!
“THUNDER THRASH!”
Quash won the clash, sending it to the ground and immediately giving the command to stop the program after that. He fell down to his knees, drenched in sweat. That was…really close. Still, it looked like hard work beat tech after all. At least for now.
