As the saying went, all good things came to an end. A TV show you binge-watched because you had no self-control, the ice cream that was just too good or in Zerori’s case: avoiding work. Not that she hated her job, of course, but when the piss was taken out of her while out and about upon the icy mountains of the north with Liari… all Zerori wanted to do was stay somewhere warm and sign documents for the next six hours Thankfully, the avalanche was just barely missed her little camp and she was able to bring back from interesting rocks that had the WEIRDEST fucking metallurgy readings.
Her generous informant that was still anonymous to this day was practically a prophet with how many locations in the north these weird scrap metal readings there were. Something definitely lived there and the secrets to their elementally-resistant technology were her’s crack.
If she could stay awake long enough to get some progress done, that is. Sitting at her desk in her apartment, Zerori arched her back with a wide yawn before cracking her neck with a groan, “Damn, what time is it?” She sniffed, looking at the computer in front of her to see that it was hardly past three in the afternoon. “Fuck, and I still have to wait for the scan to finish,” She grumbled, looking to the side at the device that slowly fed information about the odd pieces of metal she found into her computer while she worked on budgets.
By the numbers on the screen that read a scan progress of 43%, Zerori knew it was time to bounce for a while, “Yep. Time to check out that Noodle Place down the street before I fuckin' die,” And with a goal in mind, Zerori was up and out the door. However, just before anyone could see her, she took the pains to very carefully loop her tail through the loops where her belt would be. It was uncomfortable and she loathed the idea of hiding her tail but she didn’t train it enough to keep it around her waist on its own and if the world really was spinning around on its head-? She didn’t want any attention she didn’t manufacture for herself. With a final call to her cat, "Don't shit anywhere, Twilight!" Zerori was gone from the small apartment.
Once outside sporting a nice pair of black jeans, the ‘Your Daughter Calls Me Mommy Too’ shirt, her favorite leather half jacket and a pair of shades to cope with the blazing heat, Zerori was sauntering down the street on a mission. It wasn’t until she was closing in on the restaurant that she noticed a ruckus was happening with hoards of people crowding around the sidewalk. She approached slowly, looking around before casually pushing people out of the way to get a good look - ignoring the offended scoffs along the way. She expected to see a robbery or some kind of horrible tragedy.
Instead, what took the streets’ attention was a good ol’ fashioned fist fight with what Zerori assumed was the owner of the Noodle place and some kind of sleek businessman, suit and all, with a few tears in his precious attire. They screamed obscenities at each other before the sound of a patrol bike finally reached the scene. Just as Zerori had turned her back to leave and find some other place to get lunch, the sound of people gasping all at once before the crash of something against her back had her pause.
Frozen in shock and confusion, it was until Zerori felt a warm and oil mess slide down the back of her leather jacket that she started to see red. She turned around slowly, her shade obscuring the absolutely disgusted look in her eyes as she noticed the offender immediately taking a few steps back after realizing his aim to throw a bowl of ramen at the businessman failed TERRIBLY.
She started to step up towards him, stepping and shattering the remains of the bowl under boot, “You got a death wish, little man?” She growled, ignoring the officer on scene as he approached. If it was fate for her to get involved in a dispute today then FAR BE IT for her to change the course of destiny! She was more than ready to cause some trouble!

Ace's progress toward becoming 'famous' was going swimmingly. The Android felt strange about the ordeal, equal parts excited and resentful of the opportunity - the two emotions clashing harshly in his mind. Ferrous encouraged this goal, stating that gaining fame would help ward off potential invaders and bring even more funding for upgrades that could then go back into serving the community. Still, a deep-seated part of the former soldier rejected the call, desiring to keep his relative anonymity. He had yet to express the discord to the good doctor, deciding to deal with it alone. A quick flight north turned into a day trip an hour later as he wandered into North City, white long-tailed scarf fluttering in a gentle breeze.
Sometimes, he almost missed the sensation of temperature, the feeling stripped away from his metallic shell as Ferrous had deemed it an antiquated organic defense mechanism. It was easy for the robot to wander into two drastically different climates and not even realize just how distinct they were - he was most often jostled by what the locals were wearing. "Now now, Ace. Not the time nor place to start questioning the big decision." As far back as he could remember, Palmer Granite had willingly become an Android. His mind may have been preserved and transferred to act as the surrogate A.I. for the shell, but his body was long gone. His paralyzed, wheelchair-bound body. Why would he miss it?
"Hm?" Lost in thoughts, he had wandered unto a peculiar scene. A crowd had gathered around a noodle shop, two men going at it in a poor display of hand-to-hand as the strangers around them cheered and jeered in equal measure. His attention was more focused on the backlines, a muscle-bound lass threateningly some meek bystander who had miscalculated the aerodynamics of a noodle bowl. "Now, I don't mean to intrude," He stepped in front of Zerori, very clearly intruding. "But surely you don't intend to pick a fight over some lame accident?" The thought was laughable, something that he'd associate with a Saiyan. Those brutes liked to throw hands over minor perceived slights, and while this girl did sport coal-black hair, the distinct lack of a tail and earthly attire led him to believe she was simply a rowdy human.

Before her the culprit of the offensive bowl of shattered (and ruined) Ramen bowl that now painted her back, the shorter man seemed to melt into a puddle as he stumbled back. While she only boasted a whopping three inches on him, she was certain her muscles and pissed off demeanor were doing the rest. She would have definitely tried to intimidate him some more if not for an unexpected passerby to come to the rescue. Specifically the human’s rescue, but Zerori wasn’t a damsel in distress anyway. From behind her shades, her blue eyes would size up the hero with a curious look before snorting through her nose indignantly. While she wasn’t exactly impressed with the push-back from a stranger… he honestly didn’t look half-bad.
While she couldn’t get a bead on his eyes (they were evenly matched there), she couldn’t help but appreciate the cut of his attire and how confident he seemed. Never mind that he was apparently unbothered by a woman taking to the scene to threaten a random human.
Then again…
As she realized that her tail being hidden might have saved her from causing (more) of a scene, the police officer on duty began to approach. Still angry and more than willing to make this worse than it was, Zerori would make a show of dramatically bringing her head back with a sigh and responding to this guys’ attempt to de-escalate the situation, “That was EXACTLY my intention until decided ‘not to intrude’,” She groaned, bringing her head back down to glare at the officer as he approached before she looked back at the dark-haired male, “I’m assuming you’re going to stop me if that fine officer doesn’t manage it… right?” A well-placed grin meant to tease before she casually brought up her arms in mock surrender, “Fine. Fine. However,” She reached for her jacket, pulling at the collar, “I want compensation. I rather liked this jacket and unless he,” She gestured with her chin toward the owner of the noodle shop that was practically hiding behind the officer as he took statements, “-is going to give me the 2,000 zeni it took to get it-”
It was easy to tell, by the way the owner paled at hearing the number, that he WASN’T paying that out.
“-I’m going to need something in exchange. Unless you’re here to volunteer…” She reached up, taking her shades off to very obviously look him up and down purely for show. She grinned white, showing off a pair of gleaming fangs, “-’Hero?’”

"Honestly? Not too sure." Ace's smile and gleaming shades never faltered despite the strangely defeatist words. He made a show of looking around slowly, finger idly tapping away at his thigh. "From how you're reacting, it seems to me you wanted an excuse to start some shit in the first place, right?" Ace made a mental note to get Ferrous to actually install some sort of energy sensor... or to strangle the ornery doctor if he refused. Going into the field without knowing the odds of what he was up against was foolishness, and while he didn't fear this random human specifically, she had a chance (albeit a small one) to turn out as a skilled fighter.
"Money, is it?" Despite Ace's assumptions of her intentions, the girl oh so magnanimously proclaimed that this situation could be resolved with a reasonable payment of two-thousand Zeni. Reasonable if you were rich, that was. It wouldn't break the bank of your average joe, but if this lass had been pulling similar stunts on people, racketeering of that level added up quickly. Ace wasn't a cop. Stopping physical shakedowns was one thing, but he couldn't exactly go around smacking the crap out of ordinary conmen and drug dealers just for breaking the law. Legality revolving around superpowered vigilantes was precarious as it is, even WITH Ferrous' government connections.
"And to get a replacement, as if the whole thing is tarnished?" Utilizing his precious inches above Zerori to its maximum effect, Ace would lean over ever so slightly, thumb pushing down his aviators just enough to reveal his ruby red bionic eyes. "Seems a bit wasteful. Now since I'm sure what this good citizen did was just a little accident, I'll volunteer here. What say you accompany me to this cleaner I know? Always manages to get any and all stains or grease residue out of MY wardrobe," Thumbs hooking into the banana-colored jacket's inner pockets, the Android dramatically puffed it out for a moment. "And as I'm sure someone of your impeccable taste can tell, I don't skimp on material either."

If she didn’t know better, Zerori would think that this suavely dressed individual was either suicidal or getting cold feet. In one sentence, which was impressive on its own, he’s not only accused her of starting this entire mess AND wasn’t even sure if he was going to do anything about it in spite of his very voluntary intervention. It made her blood boil and had the hybrid woman cock her head in amused confusion at his mixed messages. She responded, the bite of her words making a couple of the people nearby a little nervous.
“Big assumptions from a random passerby… but sure,” The very vague crackle-pop of her clenching her fists could be heard, “-it’s not out of the realm of possibility.” And every second that passed them by made the temptation to see just how bold this newcomer was. She didn’t respond to his repeat of what she wanted, deeming it unnecessary since that was pretty much exactly what she wanted until he decided (once again, in his boldness) to offer cleaning services instead. While she didn’t exactly mind because it wasn’t… a bad offer, it wasn’t what she came out here to do!
Her lips parted, ready to give a retort of some kind in push back, when the sudden and off-putting sound of her stomach growling had her freeze. Inside her mind, the shameful sound of glass breaking could be heard before she swallowed and quickly came up with a response to save face. Using her moment where he’d hovered over her and revealed those rather striking red eyes, she hoped the flush on her face was enough of a distraction to make him think he’d caught her off guard with his swagger. “Fine, the cleaners it is, then,” And with a final huff through her nose, she’d reach up to gently tug on his jacket, “-it’s corinthian leather.”
As if that was enough to give him an idea how much it would cost, Zerori would turn away from the scene and proceed to walk away while taking off her jacket. Once divested, it would become clear to Ace that she wasn’t just a hot headed woman but a Saiyan woman at that - even if partially. In her hurry to try and misdirect the attention from her hunger, she’d forgotten the jacket was actually hiding her tail as it moved ever so slightly inside of her belt loops.
She turned back to him, her jacket in hand as she gestured for him to lead the way impatiently, “Let’s go?”
