Quash’s ship was one of the Tropical Islands on the Southern Continent. He managed to get out of Diablo Desert because it was honestly getting too hot. Hotter than usual, even. Normally he’d be able to take it, but this time around it almost felt like he was standing in a sun. He had no idea what the weather patterns were like here, but he guessed that he probably should’ve learned. For once, he decided to give himself a break and simply head to somewhere cooler. The ship was starting to do him a lot of favors. It was like a mobile home at this point!
In any case, after he landed, Quash could be found in his Gravitron aboard the ship, once again training under 40x Gravity again. It was a real pain the first time around, his body didn’t know what to expect. Combined with his weights especially, it was a real experience. However, this time it was different. In typical Saiyan fashion, it was almost as if his body learned from the experience and had pushed him to new heights. He could feel his muscles getting stronger while using greater effort to keep his body upright. The only thing he wish he didn’t have to use was that new training mix he bought a few days ago. It was gross!
Today, he was working on furthering his physique and athleticism. There were so many different aspects to focus on, how would he know which one to pick? Well, figured he was mostly taken care of in most aspects except for his speed. That one, in particular, was something that he felt he was severely lacking. When he went up against opponents like Athren and Liari, he had to rely on a lot of blocking and parries. He had to deal with a lot of lightning-fast attacks and was backed into a corner a lot. Not a great place to be, especially when dealing with opponents stronger than him.
He wanted to be able to create his own openings, not wait for one to show up like a gift from the gods. Not only that, but he had to be able to be resistant in turning the tides. If he had the upper hand on someone and they went to make a move, he wanted to be able to shut down that attempt and continue the assault. He thought the key to that was getting a lot faster. Luckily, with his weights combined with the increased gravity, he had the perfect environment to train in that area! Anyway, it was time to get started.
Quash started off by doing one thousand squats to train his leg muscles. He wanted to be able to generate more power in his legs to increase his running speed. However, he wasn’t about to stop there either. The thing about fighting at the level he did, was that your entire body had to be able to work quickly as well. Sweat beat down his forehead as he hit the five hundreds, still telling himself to push forward and complete this portion of his exercise. The good thing was that Quash liked the burn and the feeling of soreness, it told him what he was doing was right and that his limits were being pushed.
He gritted his teeth as he hit the nine hundreds, knowing he was at the home stretch. His legs felt like they were on fire. He may have underestimated the artificial gravity, maybe he wasn’t completely used to it after all. No matter. He would learn eventually. Besides, what was he going to do, go back to fighting dinosaurs at Mount Paozu? No thanks. He completed his squats and then decided to give his legs a break, switching to a handstand. He was going to do push-ups in his position so that he could strengthen his upper body as well. He was going to do one thousand of these too, that’d surely be enough.
Quash continued to train, his mind beginning to drift to other things. He wondered if it’d be better to train with another person. He usually trained alone, but it wasn’t exactly by choice. It simply ended up this way. He didn’t know a lot of friendly people on this planet and he was also in hiding. However, maybe it’d be better if we went to try and find some kind of a sparring partner. After all, it was a lot easier to be able to gauge his progress against another person. It also beat doing push-ups and squats all day.
He’d have to think about this another time, he was starting to get distracted. He wrapped up his push ups, getting himself onto his feet. He began going through the motions of combat, picturing a foe in front of him that he had to defeat. This time it was Athren, because at this point why not. He went over the fight he had with him in his head and began to reenact it in real-time. His memory of the end of the fight was pretty hazy since he was blacking out for that part. He pictured himself fighting in close quarters, trying to recreate his quick movements in his mind as he began responding to them in real life.
Quash kind of wished that he was able to do this the first time so that he wouldn’t have had to get his butt kicked, but oh well. Next time, he’d do better. And there was DEFINITELY going to be a next time. Recalling the first half of the fight blow for blow, he’d make corrections in his movements as he went through them. He went to dodge Athren’s Nova Punch this time instead of blocking it, which would’ve really saved his ass the first time around. It took a couple of tries, but he managed to find a piece that worked for him.
Eventually, during one of these tries, Quash had managed to dodge so fast that he actually ended up leaving an image of himself behind. He actually stumbled over due to how fast he was going and took a moment to gather himself. He didn’t know how he did that, but he wanted to learn how to do it again. More consistently even.
