The cold quiet depths of space were shattered by Ryme's alarm. The incessant drone and the buzz of his mobile device vibrated until he turned it off. Getting up Ryme could see the planet below that they were approaching. This planet had a variety of climates, but the biome he was visiting today was the jungle. There was a particular set of coordinates he had discovered in that tomb upon further analysis. Ryme hoped this would lead him to another set of temples, if he could just hop temple to temple this might be such a terrible adventure.
As the ship touched down Ryme saw zero signs of intelligent life around him. He'd double-check to make sure no windows or doors were left open and then cover the ship with foliage before he'd start his hike in. Ryme had made sure to land a mile away from his destination, just in case, he did find intelligent life. The planet had lots of mammalian life, but they were mostly scattered through the forest scavenging for fruit. He'd see a couple of species he was unfamiliar with. One day he'd have a scholar with his army and moments like these could lead to great discoveries. He imagined himself chunking one of many medals into a pile after another successful exploration. Ryme would chuckle at the thought as he reached his destination.
Instead of a temple, or any building really, there was a large hole. Its blackness swallowed up any light that danced on its surface. Ryme would hover down into the hole, he'd descend rather slowly, letting his eyes get accustomed to the darkness. It'd be maybe 20-40 minutes before Ryme's feet finally hit the bottom. In front of him was a large black outline, even with his eyes adjusted Ryme couldn't make out that it was a building. Instead, he'd approach the outline to what he thought would be the front doors.
He'd hand would reach out and touch a large smooth metal material. There were no door handles that he felt at his current location. So Ryme would fly all around the building looking for anywhere it could be open. It was at the top that Ryme would find the hatch. The sound of the seal breaking told him that it was unlikely anyone was inside.
Floating down the hatch, Ryme was surprised to see the building's lights all start to turn on. As he reached the bottom there was a sign that said the top needed to be closed and sealed before this door opened. While it was bigger than the typical air locks he interacted with Ryme would comply all the same. He'd wait patiently as the hissing sound of the room reaching equilibrium squealed around him. Then he'd get to work on the second door.
The sudden movement of the creature spelled its doom, Ryme didn't hesitate as he unleashed a small Ki barrage at the robot. It was destroyed, parts scattered around the floor, and the sound of its voicebox quieted the room. Ryme would tsk over his jumpiness, this creature might have been his only help on the planet. He'd give the building a once over, there were only a couple of rooms. There was the maintenance bay for the robot, which if his guess was correct he'd see this robot repaired before he left. Looking down at what appeared to be mouse-sized robots around the parts, Ryme realized it might be even quicker than an hour at this rate.
There was a study, that had an electronic library in a derivative of some alien language he didn't understand. Luckily the ship computer was capable of translating. He'd store the texts he assumed important for his first glance through. Next was the storage room, which spelled Ryme's first piece of good luck. All of the stored food was still within its range of good, there didn't seem to be any meat just vegetables. That meant he could take his time reading the texts.
Finally, there was an unused bedroom with a master bathroom, it was made for figures much taller than Ryme. He felt like a child in the bed and decided he'd prefer to stay the night on the ship if it did take that long. Going back into his ship Ryme would start reading translated text. His brother's words about this being their destiny echoed in his head. The first text he picked had instructions on where to go next for the seed. How he had been so lucky it had to be the brother's destiny.
