“Hurry! We’re closing in on him!!”
“Fuckin’ hell!”
Quash was flying through the Gizard Wasteland at breakneck speeds. The USD had managed to locate him, and were tracking him for what he could only guess was a while. They had set up an ambush for him not too far away. Luckily, they had underestimated him. After seeing how powerful he was in his ape form, they thought that they’d have a much better chance now that he was smaller and not as strong. That was a big mistake on their part, because he was already strong.
The full moon just made him stronger.
Quash managed to take down enough of the soldiers to be able to fly away without getting shot, but backup had arrived. These USD officers sure were persistent, because they had been chasing him for over a couple miles now, and they hadn’t even shown signs of any sort of fatigue. They were armed to the teeth, bringing all sorts of rifles, blasters, tanks, helicopters, you name it.Currently, there was enough for a small army, but it was quickly growing into more. He could sense multiple energies closing on their location. How many people were they planning on bringing?
That’s when he remembered what this was really about. Revenge. The saiyans had not only destroyed the USD base, but had also taken the lives of many civilians. He’s turned children into orphans, took away people’s friends, homes, jobs, and probably a whole lot more. Quash figured that they were just going to keep coming until he was brought in. Or dead. Probably dead. Normally, Quash would’ve stayed to fight. Earth’s forces were hardly a challenge, after all. But not only had they brought practically everyone, but Quash was still not feeling all that great. He was in much better condition than he was a few days prior, but still not quite at 100% percent.
It was annoying to say the least, always feeling like he had to watch out for anything that might set back his recovery. If only he had one of those healing chambers, then he wouldn’t have to wait so long! He was a saiyan warrior after all, he shouldn’t have to hold himself back! What kind of Saiyan Elite tempers their call to action?
Still, even wanting desperately to just go down and clean house, even he had to admit that this was the best course of action. It was a blow to his pride, but he needed to rest at some point. So, here he was, dodging countless tank shells, blaster bolts, and rockets. Yes, they even brought the heavy duty explosive. He had already been hit by more than a few attempts to take him out of the sky already. While he was already way stronger than each single individual attack, they were eventually going to start piling on.
The only thing Quash could think of at this point was that Athren was at fault for all of this. It was him that had set him up, him that had been responsible for the lives lost at the USD, and it was Athren that was basically bending over the Saiyans as a whole and shoving this entire incident up theirs. However, it was also him that was going to pay for this. Though, thing about this whole thing was that it just didn’t make any sense.
Shortly after the incident, after Quash had woken up and processed the anger and betrayal he felt, he tried to make sense of the whole situation. Something he kept in mind was how Athren had first met. One of the very first things he did was ask the Captain what he was doing on the planet, like he was being protective and cautious. Why would he do something like that, but also then turn around and completely annihilate an entire city along with a crucial part of the USD? It seemed so out of character.
Then again, maybe not. Maybe Athren was just curious if there was anyone powerful enough to stop his plan. Maybe he was always like this? He did leave the Saiyan Military, maybe he left because everyone found out what he was planning to do? Questions for later, perhaps. Right now, he still had to get out of this mess.
Quash saw additional USD forces up ahead. Oh great, they had cut him off! He was going to have to figure something else out. As he stayed his current course, he realized that they had…almost kind of a super tank? It was three times the size, and the cannon was particularly massive. It was almost like a small mobile building. They were planning on using something like that against him? That couldn’t be good. Especially since Quash didn’t have any defensive techniques at the moment.
Unless he made one?
Now wasn’t exactly the best time to learn a new technique, but it was either this way or the highway. He’d had to create something simple, he didn’t have a lot of time. He’d create an energy shield, but it’d have to go around his whole body. Should be easy enough. He put his hands out in front of him, focusing and picturing the energy he wanted. A small energy field formed in front of him, about the size of printer paper. The first shot fired from this massive weapon was fired.
Quash barely managed to avoid the first shot, breaking his concentration and narrowly missing the first blow. Not fast enough! He thought to himself, trying to push himself to hurry up the process. He concentrated again, this time an energy shield becoming an even bigger square, not like a body sized rectangle. It faded in and out, as Captain struggled to concentrate as blaster bolts sprayed over his body. The second power energy shot was fired, and collided with the energy shield he had put up.
It was like it was made of glass, the explosion ripped through the energy and tore into Quash. It knocked him out of the sky, causing him to fall into the ground with a loud crash. He felt closer to the already moving cannon, and was practically almost up close and personal. This was not good, especially since the other USD forces that were behind him were closing in soon. The cannon practically had him now, and it was charging up another blow.
If he was going to create that shield, now was the time.
Quash tried one more time, this time creating the same rectangle from before, but this time had shaped it around his body. He managed to hold just long enough for the blast to fire! It clashed with the energy shield he made, causing a giant explosion.
Noticing the smoke around him, he used this cover to escape his attackers. He flew straight up while everybody seemed distracted by the massive cloud and left. It looked like he had gotten away this time around. It was a good thing they couldn’t sense ki. Still, he had to Athren and clear his name quickly, he couldn’t run forever. On the bright side, at least he picked up a new technique!
