He had watched the interaction between Cress and Ayu as his little one was about to depart from the area, it was rather cute and sweet. It wasn't something that Athren would care for much on it's own. What he did care about was the smile on his daughter's face, the excitement for a new adventure with another girl, one without her dad being present. That was the driving factor here, that was the one that made Athren want to make this workout. He didn't really need to be friends with Ayu in his own right, he just needed to build a stable and healthy relationship between them for his daughters sake, so his daughter could have a friendship without any type of risk and to Athren, that was absolutely worth it. His ocean blue eyes would watch as Cress embraced Ayu and ran off in a hurry, it was evident that she would be so excited for the next meeting with Ayu.
Now that his daughter had been dismissed and it was just the two of them, Athren knew the topics he was going to focus on and discuss. He'd try to breeze through everything with his daughter first, keep it lighthearted and investing for Ayu all while slowly shifting gears towards a more combat-focused discussion. He was still being almost too considerate, trying not to make her feel uneasy or uncomfortable as he actually wanted to talk this out. This girl had won him over with the simplest of actions, if somebody were to be good to Athren's little girl, he'd be good to them no matter what his nature was. His little girl had always come first in his life and that little girl had made so many decisions for Athren without even knowing it. Cress was his weak spot, his heart, and his everything. With Ayu's display of kindness for his little girl, he'd try to at least make sure she would be safe, even if she had no idea just how strong she was and how risky that was.
Listening to Ayu speak Athren had nodded his head, "You might not be so glad too after a long period of time with her, she's a real bundle of energy, she really doesn't slow down. Ever." Athren shrugged his shoulder letting a little chuckle escape his lips. "But I'm glad you enjoy it, it's pretty obvious that she does too, that why I'm hoping it'll work out." It was at this point that Athren gave a little pause, he wanted to give Ayu a way out if she actually didn't want to hang out with Cress. Plenty of people would tell a child something just to keep them from crying and he totally understood that. "But listen, she's going to nag me just as much as I say and more but you know. You don't actually have to do it, you don't have to spend the time with her. I'd totally get it." He'd leave it opened ended like that and if she didn't respond, she wouldn't have too. He'd take the answer from more than her words, he'd take it from her body language and her overall reaction to the question. Either way, he would be cool with the outcome.
When a moment of silence had come between the two, Athren was thinking about how he could shift this into the conversation he wanted to have without being too blunt. Though he was caught off guard when she asked about it herself. It had appeared that her stuttering was still present and she was still rather nervous. It was almost cute in an innocent kind of way. Though he figured it would make her a little bit more nervous, he decided to approach slowly. He took one step at a time, closing the gap between them slowly and carefully. "You can ask me anything you'd like, in fact.. I'd much rather you do." Once again, his train of thought came down to a point from her own well-being. She'd need to learn some of this, maybe she wasn't a fighter and that was fine but suppressing your energy when you had so much? That was a must.
The gap was finally closed and he had found himself but a few feet in front of her, he had a warm and light welcoming smile on his face as he tried to keep her comfortable even though he neared so close. "You can't sense my energy because I'm suppressing it, I'm hiding it.. look." His voice was rather passive and soft, and he kept his composure calm and cool. Without shifting his body or making the slightest move, he raised his power level just a little bit so he could demonstrate what he had meant by it all. "I'm guessing you should be able to feel it now, right?" Once again he said this with a smile, this conversation was more suitable for him as he was an expert with this kind of thing.
"I'd highly recommend that you learn how to do it. You're really strong compared to all the rest of the people on this planet and your Ki signature is just as bright as you are. I could feel it from miles away." Though Athren didn't intend to scare her with his next words, he wanted to be honest with her so she would know exactly what the risks were. "And If I can sense you from miles away, so could anybody else with the ability to sense Ki and the truth is, there's a lot of people who don't have good intentions."
With that being said he'd wait for her reaction, maybe she'd want to know how to suppress her Ki or maybe she'd simply dismiss his words. She had seemed like a very good and innocent individual, maybe she'd think that nobody would mean to do her any harm or maybe she just wouldn't believe him? Whatever the case, he hoped she'd see this his way.

With Cress away from the bamboo forest, and with the two of them standing here, well... Ayu couldn't think of this situation as favorable to her. Not like she expected any harm to be done, but at the same time, the lack of energy from the Saiyan was making her uneasy. As someone who used to sense other's signature and their characteristics by their Ki, the unreadable person in front of her was setting her senses on alert in this most basic, primal way that was the old fear of the unknown. But, it wasn't so bad... The connotations here weren't that severe. She was merely careful in front of a stranger, wondering how would she try to strike the conversation and keep their discussion alive without getting flushed every two minutes. She wasn't good at this, and if Cress wasn't throwing in the subject to talk about, she wasn't able to figure out what to chat about. Well, not until Athren mentioned that Ayu could simply pass on taking part in his daughter's play date. That made her blink with surprise.
"No. I gave my word," with a raise of her hand, Ayu's soft tone hinted at the seriousness she felt towards the deal. She wasn't going to dismiss Cress only because her energetic nature wasn't matching her calm disposition. Of course, it would be a challenge, but the one she would confront eagerly. Athren was kind enough to warn her and give her the possibility to drop the idea of meeting his daughter, perhaps knowing that her behavior wasn't something easy to control. But if that was the case, wouldn't that be unfair? She was so little... Cress wasn't at fault here at all, and if there be any troubles or Ayu'd get exhausted by the child's unlimited drive, she'd have to take care of it. Somehow. It wouldn't be that much of a problem anyway... "I'd like to see her again too," Ayu admitted with warmth in her voice. Having to deal with Cress and her curiosity was much more preferred than not having anyone to talk to for another week. There were always her plants around and the cat that visited her once in a while, but Ayu never actually had a guest. The idea was new and foreign to her, but not any less welcomed.
When it came to ideas, her question wasn't met with aversion. Yet Ayu didn't suspect that Athren would come closer, saying that he'd like her to ask questions about energy signatures..? Ayu felt the tips of her ears getting dark pink and the blush wasn't fading away with time. It sounded a little sarcastic. The abashment painted her cheeks in a rose hue. Did she say anything weird again? Or did she misunderstand him? Ayu wasn't good at reading others' statements by their emotions or implications. By the gods, this was why she wasn't good at talking to strangers...
"I-I mean..." her hands fidgeted, while Ayu tried to say anything in her defense. Meanwhile, Ahren stopped a few feet away from the place she was - and he was standing there. With an honest smile, that was it. As his explanation followed, oh, how stupid she felt to be so nervous... It didn't seem that she was at fault here. Her abashment wasn't something Ayu had complete control over, but now she felt especially bashful. Trying to compose herself, she poured all her focus on his words. The secret was solved so easily. He was right. His presence appeared, not suddenly, but was growing slowly to stop at a certain, low level, to present her the ability to conceal it. Ayu blinked, watching and sensing it in silence, her face's color was gradually returning to normal as a pensive gleam appeared in her pale yellow eyes. Although the Ki amount Athren was giving off was small, she could have only suspected how large it truly is if he's able to manipulate his energy as he pleased. That wasn't an easy feat.
Ayu nodded at his question. Athren's energy was unique and collected and now she was able to sense it... There was pressure. Not a bad one. The tension felt like leather stretched over the drum, but the steadiness and the sparks of Ki reminded her that she had a representative of the proud warrior race in front of her. Perhaps it was the readiness to fight in any given moment that set those flickers in his signature or the protective instincts that made him alarmed like that. There was something honest in Athren's energy, a sharp and clear sensation, but also something murky hiding under the piercing edge of this blue-grey hue. Ayu couldn't find the right sensation to describe at first, but she finally got it - a sky - same firmament, but different weather and appearance every day. It matched the sensation she felt. Although Saiyan suppressing his energy was still a big deal, having a chance to read his personality through his Ki, made her more sure about one thing. That there was no bad intention hiding in this signature.
"... I-is that so..?" Ayu answered carefully at the last statement. It was something to worry about it, wasn't it? Athren was right, she couldn't be the only person being able to sense others - Saiyan possessed this ability too. She couldn't be so sure that being able to sense other's energy was so rare in the universe. And there was no guarantee that individuals that are capable of assessing the power level of others would be harmless. But was she really that different than others..? Ayu frowned a little, putting her arms around her in a concerned gesture. "I don't think I can learn that," she said quietly. Her fingers started to play with the tip of her green braid, curling small locks of hair. "As much I can feel e-every living being around me... I can't properly sense myself, or even tell how strong I am..." she confessed after a short pause, giving him embarrassed smile as if trying to politely apologize for making him go out of his way to advise her, only to hear that she can't do anything about it. "It's all blurred and uneven... I tried to understand why, but I still don't know. But if something would happen because of that, please don't feel pressured." Would it be farfetched to assume he cared? Well, Ayu was far from it, but he must have given her this advice for a reason - it's not his fault she couldn't use it, even if Athren's words would stick with her for longer. She just didn't want to make him responsible, even the tiniest bit - but on the other hand, it could be laughable to think that a passing warrior would even consider it a matter that could oblige him to have some kind of concerns. After all, she was only a mere stranger. "I'll do my best to deal with it on my own."

Ayu had lifted her hand and assured him that she actually wanted to spend the time with Cress, though he wouldn't fully understand why. Something about hanging out with somebody else's kids just didn't seem all that much fun to him, hell, he wouldn't even hangout with his own kids if they weren't his own, it just wasn't his thing. What could be gained from spending time with children that weren't your own? Passing on your knowledge to a next generation? Keeping their mind sharp? He didn't see the benefit behind it all and he probably never would. It would be safe to assume that it was a cultural difference between the Earth and Vegeta because there, parents didn't even spend that much time with their own kids, their children would be off getting trained by others for a vast majority of their life and that was just the way it was. "Well, If you'd like to see her again it'll happen. We'll make a plan of some kind, whatever works for you." Athren paused a moment as his shoulders gave a very light shrug. "I'd bet she'd be happy to see you almost any day and drop whatever plans she might have for you."
Of course Athren had spoken the truth here, besides hanging out with Zerori, nothing would be as much fun as hanging out with Ayu. Both ladies had very different attitudes and styles, along with very different interests and that was probably part of the reason Cress had been so intrigued by Ayu. The mind of a child was something Athren would never even begin to understand, he couldn't even use his memories to relate. As a child it was all about the fight, the drive to become better and stronger and there wasn't anything else to it. The world wasn't full of wonders or adventure, only the desire to become the best and rise up the ranks of the saiyan empire. It was pretty bland looking back, but he couldn't change it now and even if he could, he didn't think he'd go through with that kind of change. He was who he was today because of it all, and he was happy with that.
Her nervousness continued to be on display as she fidgeted her hands and her green skin had shifted to a shade of red. It was quite apparent that this girl didn't have very much social experience, yet he couldn't blame her for being that way in the presence of a saiyan. After all his appearance wasn't very clean cut, plus his attire was rather on the rough side of things. He didn't appear to be a high class or well maintained citizen but the brutal warrior that he was. Though even through that, he would try his best to maintain his calm and soft attitude towards her, he wanted her feeling safe, comfortable and secure. It had felt like every word she spoke was full of doubt and insecurity, it wasn't something he had dealt with normally. Most people he came across were quite the opposite, full of over confidence and proud of everything, she girl was different, unique.
He listened to every word carefully and softly replied to her. "It's very much so." He didn't need to sugar coat it, the point had gotten across to her as clear as day, but what he could do was present her with an option and maybe punch through some of her self doubts and conflicting feelings she had about her abilities. With her power level the way it was, he assumed she'd be able to get in touch with some of this stuff rather quickly, so he'd volunteer some of his time. After all, she was good to his daughter and that was a fair trade in his opinion.
Athren's right brow arched as he heard her claim that she couldn't do it and his answer was rather rapid. "Why couldn't you learn it? You've learned about a bunch of plants, haven't you? I'd be willing to bet learning about yourself would be a lot easier than that, the only real thing that'd be getting in your way is you. Just believe you can do it, and you will." Athren had paused a little bit as their exchange of words had gone back and forth. What caught him by surprise was how she told him not to feel pressured and how she'd do her best on her own. Dipping into the understanding of ki was tough when you were getting started and having a guide was often the best route, though it was something that he wouldn't have done normally, he did have an offer for her.
"Here's the thing, I'll make you a deal." Athren gave Ayu another reassuring smile at this point before he threw his offer out on the table. He wasn't sure whether she'd bite on it or not but it'd be beneficial to both of them. "If you're more than willing to hangout with Cress and get her out of my hair from time to time, I'll gladly return the favor and teach you how to suppress your energy, hell maybe I'd even teach you a little more if you were willing.. but that's up to you." With that being said, it was all out on the table now. He figured she'd need a moment to get her composure together and think about it, but all she had to do was say yes. He figured she'd be crazy not too, after all this would benefit her the most. Sure, Athren would have a babysitter but Ayu would possibly be taking the first steps to understanding herself and reaching her full potential, whatever that could even be. Whether or not she would take the offer, really wouldn't bother Athren. It was her destiny to do what she wanted with, he just thought after her kind gesture to his little one, he could at least attempt to return the favor.

What surprised Ayu the most, was that Athren seemed to still be partially in disbelief about her honest decision to meet his daughter again. Because she very much wanted to hang out with Cress. Was it so strange? The young woman was already making a mental note of the things she'd like to show the little Saiyaness and what the two of them could play together... The nice spots in the forests, the flower plains, the stream near her house - oh, there was so much they wouldn't be able to see everything during a single day. Being a nanny wasn't scaring her. Ayu loved children with their straightforwardness and eager minds, but their parents were often the problem. Or rather the prejudice that was getting pretty infectious between Earthlings was the main cause of Ayu's discomfort. When a kid wanted to play with her, the parent was looking at her with suspicion, pulling their child away from that shady alien who didn't know her place. It happened way more often than she'd like... Saiyans got it easier, they needed only to hide their tails, but Ayu? No amount of body paint would be able to mask her complexion and no eye contacts were able to hide the opalesce effect of her irises. She couldn't hide anything, let alone her emotions or distress... Just like an open book.
She was aware that her state was clear to Athren, and she couldn't do much about it either. Fidgeting hands, the change in her voice, and occasional stuttering were only embarrassing her further... Ayu has heard from others that she's doing it on purpose to put pressure on them, so every time she thought about that accusation, she was growing more uneasy. Would he think like that too..? She sighed deeply, exhaling air slowly from her lungs in an attempt at calming down. Joining her hands on the level of her waist, Ayu was searching for the right words to use to explain her situation and not sound too nervous. Life was all about unexpected meetings and troubles, she should learn to tackle them head-on, and what's a better start than taking things one step at a time? Like talking with a rough-looking Saiyan, who talked to her in a surprisingly mellow voice.
"I tried..." The sole thing stopping Ayu from learning was herself... If only it would be that easy. Athren might have more experience and knowledge about energy, but she couldn't help but think that her case was just a tiny bit hopeless. She had more than ten years to discover various abilities that she possessed, in most cases using them unconsciously in danger. Who knew what else she could do, but she never had a chance to learn? After all, it's not like there was someone to guide her or give her advice while she was learning... And yet this case was different. Ayu was aware of what she should accomplish, but despite many attempts, it was still outside of her reach. It felt like sensing her energy was equal to trying to catch smoke with bare hands... And being able to control it as she pleases? Now that was something she couldn't even imagine. "I am not able to control m-my energy skillfully, I don't think that without this knowledge I would be able to learn anything more about Ki." She didn't have the proper basics, so how could she develop from this point, building a suitable foundation for this ability?
She would try again in the future and then again, pushing her boundaries to try to reach this feat. And like most of her abilities, she'd have to learn it on her own... Or maybe not? Ayu's eyes widened a little, looking carefully at Athren when she heard about his proposition. She would never dare to ask for any kind of payment for looking after Cress because her presence would be precious enough - but a lesson? And in a field, she was lacking? That was a tempting idea, but she would hate to burden him with a sense of paying her back, after all, she didn't want to play with Cress to make him feel this way. That might have been only his goodwill, but Ayu would hate it if that would be a forced offer... And with his energy suppressed like that, she couldn't tell if his demeanor changed or not.
"I want to hang out with her anyway, but about the deal..." Stroking her blushed cheek, Ayu's eyes averted Athren when she was trying to make up her mind. Still, she wasn't able to pick a simple answer. The nerves... She needed a quiet moment to think it through, without the pressure of this blue gaze at her. Joining her hands together and pressing them lightly against her lips, Ayu finally spoke. "C-Could I give my answer later?" she asked and an apologetic tone appeared in her voice. She was aware that it wasn't the response he was expecting, but at this moment she wasn't able to really decide. It's not like she deemed it a bad idea, only... It surprised her. And it was somewhat abashing to think that she would get a lesson in Ki-sensing and control just like that. Now she felt bad that she might have disappointed Athren or sounded too unreasonably with her decision, so the young woman raised her hands defensively. "I need to think about it a little more, t-that's it..." she explained shyly, lowering her voice.
Social anxiety was one tough obstacle to fight with.

Now that the conversation had swapped over to something more combat-focused like how to control Ki, Athren was a lot more invested in it. It was a topic that he was well experienced with, one he knew like the back of his hand and something he had trained and harnessed every single day to be as great as he could with it. It was truly a topic that he could find himself speaking about for days, given the opportunity. Though he'd listen to Ayu go on about how she had tried to learn it and how she isn't able to control her energy skillfully, he'd actually completely understand. She didn't have any former experience with it, learning it, she didn't have a guide. Most individuals would get to learn young when they were rather on the weaker side and their ability to control their Ki would grow naturally as their power did, which made it a lot easier. Ayu on the other hand had been starting when she was already quite powerful, so there was a chance that her currently higher power level would play a part in her struggle today.
As he listened to Ayu's concerns, he could still sense the uneasiness in the way she had spoken, he continued to play the card of caution when speaking to her as he wanted to make her feel comfortable and welcome in the situation. The last thing he wanted to do was make her situation worse. He tried to speak softly and kindly, and he had a method to directly engage what she had said, almost as if he was going to try and fight the doubts that she had built up in her mind. He'd provide positive reinforcement along with support, anybody could harness their ki, though doing so was different for everybody.
"Listen, just because you've tried before doesn't mean you won't get it if you try again.." Athren trailed off with a pause before lightly continuing his words, "You've got to start with baby steps and work your way up, with time and practice and perhaps a mentor of some kind, I know you'll get it." Athren was actually rooting for her to get this down pat because Ayu had been so good to Cress she was automatically in his good graces, he was hoping she'd win and he was very aware of the risks if she didn't. Given how powerful she was, she was setting off a beacon for the world to see, anybody who could sense Ki could very well track her down and try to exploit her for their own gain, they could try to use her power for their own and given she wasn't very experienced, that put her in a very dangerous situation. It was either that or somebody would try to threaten the planet and execute her as her strength could be an immediate threat to their plans, either way, she wasn't safe.
As she had gone on to state that she really did want to hang out with Cress, she had gone on to stutter a little bit more and even made a request that she answers at a later time, and to Athren, he really didn't care if she answered now or at all because the offer was going to be on the table no matter what. If she refused the offer, he'd simply have more time for himself, more time to get prepared for what he was going to bring to the Earth. Either option really didn't bother him. Though once again he'd be sure to watch his words and his tone with the girl, he really was trying his best to keep her comfortable. "You're good, you can hang out with her as much as you'd like and you don't even have to give me an answer if you don't want to, alright? There's absolutely no pressure." With that, Athren would've once again given her a reassuring smile and a little shrug of his shoulders. This decision was hers to make on her own, she could do whatever it was that she had been comfortable with.
Though given the fact that the subject he was experienced on was running out and Ayu's display of awkwardness had come into play, Athren had thought that now would be a great time to call this little interaction off. He didn't want to keep her in the awkward situation and he surely didn't want to make small talk for a long period of time, it was better for him to go back to his day. But listen, I should probably leave you to your day and get back to my own. He said this with a smile, it wasn't that he was rushing out of there but a decent goodbye was in order. It would be safe to say that she also had better things to do besides hanging out with him for a longer period of time.
If her nerves were staying anything, it was that she wasn't fully comfortable here alone with him, and given his race and the reputation of his race, he didn't exactly blame her. For now, this was probably the most appropriate thing he could do and maybe, she'd feel a little more relaxed and comfortable next time. Though only their next interaction would tell whether or not that'd be the case. Instead of immediately darting off back to his business, he'd give her the fair chance to say goodbye and speak her mind on whatever she wanted to, hell maybe she'd even have a day in mind for her and Cress. Whatever it was, he didn't want to be rude now, especially since this girl had also offered him her medical services if he ever needed them. Athren wasn't one to burn bridges that could be mutually beneficial. For now though, Athren would await a response from the girl before he made his way to whatever he had wanted to do next, though he'd probably go find and talk to Cress first. After all, she'd probably be so excited about this little interaction.

The problem with energy was that Ayu was able to sense it since she remembered. When she opened her eyes for the first time after the accident, with her memory wiped out clean after the brain trauma - it was there. She could already feel every living being within a one hundred feet radius. With each passing month this ability grew and matured to what it was today - that was her foundation. The thing that she didn't learn but rather, woke up equipped with that grew with her as she learned more about it. Kinda like walking, it came naturally. How in this condition should she understand it more, how to study this ability? Where to even begin, how to divide it into steps or focus on one aspect of it? It was like breathing, innate to her... Ayu remembered clearly how shocked she was to learn that others didn't possess this skill - at least other kids at her school didn't. And a little girl telling them about energy, the sensation that came with it, about the delicate balance and a world full of connections, tones, colors, and feelings... No wonder she was considered weird by her fellow classmates.
There were times when she wished, she didn't possess this ability. Reading signatures wasn't always ideal. Ayu learned quickly that people could lie so easily, saying completely different things than their energy was telling her. There was unfounded hostility or contempt, dislike, hidden agendas... And it's not like she was reading their minds, she could easily pick their emotions - yet it wasn't only about sensing Ki. Being an empath and feeling for others too much was always Ayu's weakness and strong point at once. She worried too much, was overwhelmed by others' mental states, and was eager to listen and talk when it was needed... Being able to back up her intuition with what she sensed via reading others' presence was only enhancing her sensitivity at this point. So would polishing that skill would be worth it?
And yet... He was reassuring her. Athren didn't shrug off her already failed attempts or her worry that she might lose at another try. He acknowledged them as something normal, encouraging her to not give up on this training. Even if she's doing it all by herself, with outside help bigger or smaller, all it takes is time, practice, and patience. And he did offer to be her teacher in a small exchange of looking over Cress from time to time... That would make things easier to learn Ki control from someone who already knows how to do this, right? Ayu had lots to polish and figure out by herself, so a hint or two would be very much welcomed. For a moment the young woman was looking at him in silence, thinking about the warrior's intentions and offer. Then her face softly lit up with gratitude shining through the warm smile.
"I'm going to keep trying," she nodded, a small, excited blush pained on her face. Ayu joined her hands together. Maybe all she needed was a little push and words of encouragement... She appreciated it, even more, when Athren wasn't persistent about his offer, letting her decide if she wanted to take his helpful hand. Ayu would hate to burden him or take more of his time than needed, but now he gave her enough occasions to think it through - so she could be sure. "T-Thank you," she said with a gentle smile. Some of her uneasiness melted away already, despite her constant abashed state. And maybe they would talk even more if the Saiyan hasn't pointed out the fact that they should get back to their work. Only then did Ayu realize that she had to finish her herb-gathering session and get back home, because this chit-chat took way longer than expected.
"Ah, r-right, there were things I wanted to do too..." the young woman looked around hurriedly, checking her surroundings, and walked up to her belongings laying on the grass. There was so much to do, gather fresh clematis, and the yarrow was blooming by the stream near the bamboo forest... Putting back her herbarium into the woven basket, alongside all the jars and bundles of picked plants, Ayu glanced back at Athren. "Could you please pass Cress the message, that I will be waiting for her, whenever she wants to visit?" she picked up the heavy baggage, stood up, and walked toward the man to say her goodbyes. And a thought sprouted in her head when she was looking down at the basket half-filled with plants. Ayu picked the calendula flower - a happy, bright orange flower, with beautiful petals and center red like the morning sun. No, she hand-selected three individual flowers of this kinda and gave them to the Saiyan. "I know it's n-not much, but that's for you," wait, what if he'd think that she's giving him flowers just like that..? That wasn't her intention, it was a sign of appreciating his goodwill... "I m-mean, one is for you, o-one for Cress, and one for her brother," she mumbled feeling her cheeks getting rose.
Great, she couldn't even show her gratitude without making things more awkward... Ayu frowned abashed, stroking the green lock away from her face. She shook her head slowly, before taking a deep breath to calm herself a bit. After all, this meeting wasn't so bad, was it?
"I should g-go now... Thank you, for your words," Ayu raised her hand to wave at Athren, taking first steps in the opposite direction, to where the path to her home was placed. She bowed her head at last and before turning her back to leave for good, she raised her gentle tone a little. "Goodbye, and please have a good day!"
It was time to go home.

After talking to her a little bit longer about the subjects that seemed to have clouded her mind, he saw a slight change on her face. Her expression had seemed to go from worried and concerned to a slight smile. It had seemed that maybe his words of encouragement had hit their mark, had done what he intended them to do. She had stated that she was going to keep trying, and even though they hardly knew each other, he was rather grateful for her decision. Though he had recently just thought about it, he couldn't help but think about it again. This girl had earned a spot in his good graces and her Ki signature was registered, he knew her ki and he'd monitor it from afar so long as he was on Earth and if she needed somebody to bail her out of trouble, he'd be there. All it took was for her to be good to his daughter, it was a strange concept for a saiyan but for Athren, that's really all it took to earn his respect. Even if the individual didn't treat him with respect, he'd look past that for his children. They came before he did and they always would.
"I'm glad you're going to keep trying, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Just start small and work your way up, don't just try to master it all in one go." He wasn't going to carry on anymore, it was just the last tip he could throw her way that would help her with her task. This could almost be compared to climbing a mountain, when sitting at the bottom the task of climbing it would almost seem damn near impossible, but breaking it down into one step at a time made the challenge seem a lot easier. One step forward was a lot easier than making it to the top. "And really, you don't have to thank me. Really." Athren couldn't help but give another light shrug of his shoulders. She didn't have any need to thank him, in fact, he thought it should rather be quite the opposite. If anything, he figured she was the one owed thanks. She gave Cress something else to look forward to, something else to learn and invest herself in, if she didn't want to be a full-time fighter, she'd need to find other interests fast, ones that would stick with her and be useful, help her with her future. No matter what her choice was, Athren would be supportive of his daughter so long as she was happy and making appropriate decisions. Progressive decisions, that was.
When Athren had brought up taking off, she had also seemed like it was an appropriate course of action. She didn't quite take too long before going over to her belongings and getting ready to leave. Athren idled a moment and watched as she prepared to leave, though part of what happened next had caught him by surprise. The first part of what she wanted to say was rather sweet, that she'd be willing and awaiting Cress whenever she wanted to hang out. "I'll pass that on no problem, just hope you can handle her on your doorstep all the time." He cracked a light little chuckle. Though it may have seemed like he was joking, he really wasn't. Cress was a very determined individual and if she wanted to hang out, she'd find a way to make it happen! Though Athren couldn't help but arch his right brow curiously as she approached him with three individual flowers and extended them out to him. For a brief moment, he had paused. He didn't know what to say or how to react. He hadn't ever been given such a gentle gift before. He knew Celric wouldn't care for his, Cress would love hers but him? He didn't even know what to do with a flower, he didn't know the purpose of this gift, the blank look on his face would have given it all away. He was confused and completely lost with this. His right hand slowly raised as he gripped the flowers ever so gently, trying his best not to damage them. "Uhh..." Another light pause would take effect of the saiyan as he tried to figure out his next words to say. "Thanks.. I'm sure they'll be appreciated." He said with a slight smile on his face.
For a fighter such as him with such composure, he was still kind of shocked. He didn't even know how to get himself out of this situation. I mean he could just dip, right? Blast off into the sky and go do his thing. Though before he made a choice, she had made one for him. She stated some kind words before heading in the opposite direction and Athren simply glared down at the flowers in his right hand and back to her. "I'll see you around, Ayu."
After standing around all but a brief moment longer, Athren would finally lift himself up into the air and slowly head back to his base camp. He made sure to take it nice and slow, he didn't want to ruin the flowers in the air. In all honesty, he was going to give them all to Cress, she'd take care of them and he'd know that they'd be safe. If they were in his or Celric's care, they'd absolutely get destroyed in a matter of minutes. It wasn't that he cared about the flowers themselves, after all, he was a warrior but he couldn't help but appreciate the girl's gesture. Though it may have been something so small, he'd probably remember it for a long, long time. Though, he couldn't wait to see Cress' face when it came to the gift and message from Ayu, surely that little girl would light up with excitement and joy, and he'd be willing to throw his warrior side away for moments like that, she made it worth it.
