The life of a Guardian was a lonely one. Ayu was made aware of that fact as she learned her ways with magic and her duties... Yet the full awareness of how heavy this mantle was only began to weigh on her shoulders.
As usual, she was by the edge of the temple, looking at the world in front of her in silence. Dende was busy fixing the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Mr. Popo was taking care of the storage area while Cress and Celric decided to train using presents they got from Callion. A day like any other... Quiet. Oh, so unnaturally quiet.
The Lookout was secluded for a reason. It wasn't about being above everyone else, it was about the distance that was required for this position. The Earth's Guardian was watching over the planet - but the planet as a whole. Not individuals, not groups. A planet, as the title stated. While gazing far and wide, Ayu witnessed so many things happening she wished she hadn't seen anything... Acts of violence. Senseless brutality, pettiness, day-to-day malice, and spite, many of which were being normalized in this society, called the law of the strong devouring the weak. It wasn't all that of course. There was kindness, love, and compassion, though the more she looked at the dark side of the world, the more sick she felt in her stomach. This hopelessness was something else than inaction. Ayu had the power to go out there and make a difference. She could have intervened, done something, spoken to people, stopped that cruelty - but she was nothing but one person. Even for a Guardian, it was impossible to fix every little misdeed that was happening on this planet. The burnout would take away her purpose if she threw herself out there, trying to help every single person on the surface of the Earth.
And, as Dende told her, it wasn't her role. If she'd try to fix everything for Earthlings, how would they learn? If she'd protect them from harm, how would they know how to defend themselves? It was a natural thing to make mistakes. Life wasn't so simple. Nature, even when mingled with technology and science, was still cruel. Every living, breathing, and thinking being had their free will and they chose their actions. Their consequences and values were something they had to live with - learning from them or not. Even if they harmed others, or did unspeakable acts of wickedness, that was their choice... Which was going to influence others and make them adjust their actions accordingly, in a wrong or proper way, she wasn't the one to judge. She wasn't the one to intervene.
It wasn't her duty to give them any rules. She was to make sure that the Earth, as a planet, was safe. That it will continue to stay where it is, allowing its inhabitants to live and grow and change... Acting only when a threat akin to annihilating life or enslaving it was drawing in - and even then, Ayu wasn't expected to fight. She was to aid, guide, and give advice, heal the warriors, and provide them with a place to rest and train. After the fight, they would leave. They would return to their lives down below, to their families, their businesses, their work... The Lookout would be quiet once more, she'd be alone again. The thought of the Guardian was only being pulled from oblivion when another danger would approach the Earth. And then the cycle would begin anew. With her life bound to this duty, Ayu would be staying here for the rest of her days, and with Namekian genes who knew how long would she live. She might very well outlive everyone she knows... Perhaps that's why Dende once sadly mentioned that Guardian forming relationships with others wasn't the wisest thing. How many of his friends and companions did he see being killed? How many goodbyes did he say to those he cared about..?
Ayu could feel her hands shaking, so she curled them into fists. If she cared for one person, going out of her way to help them, considering the title she might inherit in the future - would it be selfish? Maybe. Would that mean that she has to accept the natural order of things, watching people die? At the thought of losing Liari or Callion again, or seeing anyone else dying, her heart sunk. That wasn't something she'd like to witness again, no... Though, won't others see her as egoistic? She'd be choosing her loved ones above everyone else, was Guardian even allowed... To do so? At this point, Ayu didn't know what she should do or not.
With a heavy sigh, she sat down, letting her legs off the edge. Although she still couldn't fly, the height didn't scare her anymore. The clouds were softly passing by and the sun was shining, the breeze was soothing... She wondered how long this serenity could last before the battle will take place on Earth.
As much as a burden she was, Ayu found herself thinking back about the last people she saw. Opherla, Liek, and Zaks came here only in search of something they needed, no surprise there, really... Callion was the one who actually visited her and the kids, though his stay wasn't long either. Still, she was supposed to keep her distance. It wasn't weird that warriors would gather in the Lookout so she was going to perform her duties and be polite but nothing more. Ayu knew she was... Emotional, that the tears were often gathering in her tears that she felt more things than other people - and that her state was affecting them too. And not in a good way, never in a good way.
And yet... It was the worst time possible to be torn like that. Deep down she knew she was pitifully lonely and wished to see those she cared about - yet, knowing how badly she could impact them, she tried to bury that feeling. It would be better to stay away... Besides, with everyone training and preparing themselves to fight the greatest battle on Earth, it was outright selfish to bother people - just because she missed them. The feelings in her chest and heart were getting darker the longer Ayu was thinking about it. A hindrance. Burden... She was worthless like that.
She blinked, slowly shaking her head. Her mind was messing with her like that, giving her intrusive thoughts that sounded like this. She was aware that it wasn't true but the longer it was going on, the voice in her head was starting to be more convincing.
Taking a deep breath, Ayu looked up at the sky.
The tension among everyone was rising. So much was at stake. She needed to clench her teeth and prepare herself to be of aid when the time was right. There was no use dwelling on her conflicted emotions now, it was simply taking away the energy that she could use for something more productive.
She will have to do what she needs to.

Super heavy weights activated: BOOP
"AUNTIIIIIIIIEEEEE!" A high-pitched voice squealed! Tackling her as if a bolt from the blue, Terra would SPRING out of nowhere and TACKLE her existentially-pondering aunt, threatening to take her off her feet! Terra couldn't help herself! It had been SO LONG since she'd seen her second favoritest person in the whole-wide-world! ...In fact, it had been a long time since she'd seen her family in general! Terra had missed them terribly but, like usual, her Momma was soooooooo busyyyyyy and her new Momma, Moire, was really busy too! Not wanting to be alone for another second, Terra had made her way to the Lookout... and she had even taken the long-way too! Having sensed her approach, Mr. Popo had appeared before Terra upon his carpet, offering to give her a ride up! Terra only grinned and hugged the rotund black djinn before politely refusing his offer! She wanted to take a crack at climbing the tower herself! The little pink girl had heard stories about ALLLLLLL the great warriors from the past had made this journey by hand and by golly, she was great too! She was, much to the obvious obliviousness of everyone, the Great MAJIGIRL and she needed to prove to herself that she was TRULY great!
It took a long time and a self-chastizings when the feelings of doubt started to crop up, but Terra had MADE IT! She was sweaty, dirty, and kiiiiinda stinky, but she had managed to climb ALL THE WAY UP from the bottom of the tower! ...Of course, all of this didn't matter when she saw her Auntie. Terra didn't notice it at first when she was tackling the poor, emotionally-vulnerable woman, but when she was burying her face in her chest, her arms locked around her waist, a handful of gears in the little girl's head started turning... and she realized that Ayu might not be in the greatest of headspaces right about now. Terra would look up with her big, red, innocent eyes, staring up into the face of her Auntie in the way only children could. She drunk in Ayu's expression, her mannerisms, how she felt in the little girl's embrace...
And concluded she missed her! She must've missed her terribly!
"Auntiiiiiiiiiie...." Terra pined, returning her face to Ayu's chest, little tears leaving trails down the Majin's face! "I miss yooooooou... I miss yoooooooooooooooou..." ...And Terra wasn't hamming it up either. Although most of her time on Frost was spent sleeping, when Terra awoke, it wasn't long before she felt the hole in her heart where... people used to be. Loneliness set in once the restful feeling of just-waking-up had faded, leaving Terra's care-free smile much more... weighted than usual. She wasn't forcing it or anything... but it was hard to keep when all you saw around her was blackness... and the stars that floated in it. When she got home to Earth, it was... better. She went to her favorite ice-cream shop with her Mommas and she was even recognized by the staff on duty! They had given her an extra scoop totally without prompting and even invited her back ANYTIME!
...It was nice... but it wasn't family. Ayu was family, as much a part of it as her Momma that made her and her other Momma that loved her as if she had. Ayu had housed Terra, taught Terra, held her and hugged her and kissed her so much... She was like a THIRD Momma in a way... Terra liked to think of her that way.
"I here..." She whispered softly, pulling away just enough to look up at her auntie and smile. "Terra is right here..."

The longer she gazed at the sky, the passage of time seemed to lay heavier on her shoulders. Duties. Fate. Choices. Everything. The things that Ayu wanted were not the things she needed. What she was instructed to do was something she wasn't capable of, yet... Ah, why nothing in this world was simple anymore? Slowly shaking her head, she tried to gaze further - among the stars. Universe far and wide, with countless numbers of systems, planets, races, living beings... In a way, it was a natural thing. Even the universe could not escape the laws of nature, the cycle of life. There were predators and prey, like in any other place... Just the story behind it was a bit more complex. Ayu couldn't tell how long she stood there in the silence, quietly watching the world.
And in this stillness...
A voice rang out. Or rather, it squealed with the resonance of thousands of cute little animals asking for attention... Maybe that likeness in that comparison wasn't exactly ideal but the affection and enthusiasm that vibrated in a child's tone told her enough. She knew that voice, she knew it well - it was the same one that loved asking her for blueberry muffins or one more bedtime story. Ayu barely turned out to see a smudge of vibrant pink color rushing towards her, and...
"Ter-", she didn't have the time to even get surprised. It caught her so off guard that Ayu didn't put any resistance and before she knew it, they both landed on the ground. A pink little girl tackled her by jumping into her arms with eagerness and love and now they both ended up on the floor. Blinking in confusion Ayu raised her head to look at her niece. She met an innocent, loving, and anxious gaze, then she felt a pair of pink cheeks nuzzling against her chest. Her little niece was here, indeed. Small wet spots marked the places where the tears fell onto her clothing and before she realized it, she was already gently stroking her back. Ayu could do nothing but sigh soundlessly, the corners of her lips curling into a delicate smile.
There were many things that she wanted to ask right now... Why was Terra here? D-Did Liari know that her little girl decided to visit this place? Was she agreeing with that..? That would be confusing but Bluebell wasn't the type to just forbid Terra from doing something. Didn't she mind Ayu's presence here at all..? Maybe. Maybe not. Considering their trips through the universe, a part of her thought that the Lookout, even the Earth might now look too small for Majins. Though, honestly, there was no point in asking. Terra has already answered the most important question of them all. Why was she here - she missed Ayu. She wanted to see her auntie. Of all those people who came across the Lookout lately, she might have been the only one speaking from the heart and telling her honestly that she longed to see her. It wasn't a favor she was looking for. It wasn't an obligatory visit to put on a brave face and say that everything would be alright. She wasn't looking for information or aid or anything in particular...
Terra was here for her and Ayu felt tears gathering in the corners of her eyes. She was here, she was back... It didn't make her worries melt away, it didn't improve the situation on Earth in the slightest, but... This familiar warmth that she missed spilled from her heart to the inside of her chest. A couple of big, shiny tears rolled down her face, wetting the green hair and her ears a bit. Yes. Terra was here.
"Good evening, Sweet Pea," gently stroking her squishy cheek with her thumb, Ayu smiled with unbound affection in her teary eyes. And as if it was the most natural thing - because it was - she pulled Terra closer. Right, it didn't escape her attention that the little one could use a quick shower, but did it matter now? Ayu embraced her, pressing her lips against the top of her head with a soft kiss. "Oh, how I missed you too..." she sighed, closing her eyes as she wrapped her arms around the little girl. It felt nice, not counting lying on the floor like it was nothing of course, but... Feeling a tiny, warm, and precious weight snuggled to her chest that she could hug and was hugged back in return... It felt so right. So peaceful. It tempted her to hold Terra so close longer, as long as was needed to shield her from whatever might dare to come after this joyful smile. It all was so loving and lovely - and yet beneath that warmth was hidden an ice-cold needle that prickled Ayu's subconsciousness without mercy.
... She kept forgetting. Ayu opened her tearful eyes, looking with melancholy at the sky when Terra was nuzzling her face against her chest. There was no right on her side to call the children she loved so much her own. They were never hers. She adored them. Ayu took care of them and tried to raise them as much as she could. She genuinely cherished them but they all were always waiting for somebody else. Right... She wiped tears from her face. They yearned for someone busy. They missed those who were gone, or even they didn't know who they were waiting for. It... Was to be expected, really. Ayu was only looking after them, that was always clear. A Guardian shouldn't be forming attachments as easily as that, even if they were mostly one-sided... Here she was again, with those selfish thoughts racking her brain from the inside. Pulling herself up with one elbow, she cradled Terra against her now aching heart, holding her close - even if it was just for a moment.
She'd be content as long as all of them were safe, healthy, and happy.
"I love you, Sweetheart," Ayu kissed the top of her head again. "Now, where have you been..?" She smiled softly, though it would be a lie to say there wasn't any melancholy in her voice or gaze. Very gently, she wiped tears from the corners of Terra's eyes, drying her cheeks. "Oh my, did you get taller too?"

Terra might've not had the brain-power yet to form her observations into words, but she detected and felt what Ayu was feeling... She was sad, so deeply, sickeningly sad and the poor pink Majin had no idea why! She should be happy! They were together again! ...So why was Auntie crying like that...? Terra looked up to see tears running down Ayu's Spring-green cheeks, her smile, while gentle and loving, hiding an inner darkness that seemed to go on for miles! Terra stared up at her, perplexed... perhaps even a little bit frightened at what might've been brewing in her Auntie's heart... but that wouldn't stop her from hugging her so dearly. Her little arms wrapped around Ayu's body and clung to her sides, pulling Terra in as close as she could. The little pink girl sighed happily as Ayu returned her feelings, expressing how much she'd missed her... even with how sad she was now.
"Love you too, Auntie Ayuuuuuuuu..." Terra mumbled, then giggled as Ayu kissed her head. Her touch was always so soft, so ticklish! She loved being held by her Auntie! ...Now that she thought of it, Ayu wasn't really her Auntie, was she...? In fact, she spent a lot more time with her Auntie Ayu than she did with her Mommas and, even then, Ayu showed just as much love for her as her Mommas did! She looked up at Ayu thoughtfully, her eyes narrowing in musing. Maybe her thought about Ayu being like a third Momma wasn't the exaggeration it was initially intended to be. Maybe... Maaaaaaybeeee....
"Oh! We go to really cold world!" Terra explained, hopping up and down slightly with excitement! "Everywhere cold! Snow everywhere! Make lotsa snowmen and angels and all sorts of thing! have lotsa fun while Momma went to go work and stuff!" She then reached into a pocket on her dress and withdrew a small picture: It was a crayon drawing of Ayu, Moire, Liari, and Terra all standing together and holding hands! Granted, it had all the artistic talent someone of Terra's age could muster and it might even take Ayu a second or two to understand, but she would definitely be able to understand!
"Drew for you! Hope you like!"
If Ayu took the drawing, Terra would smile widely and hug the GOD OF EARTH, for all intents and purposes, again, snuggling into her more and more! She missed her so much... She was so warm and nice.... she felt safer with her than with anyone else, even her Mommas! Terra would look up at Ayu after a second, her little red eyes locking with the Guardian's.
"I call you 'Momma' now." Terra declared. "You Momma #3! Not Auntie anymore! Love you, Momma!" The little pink girl would reach out and embrace her new Momma once more, even giving her a kiss on the forehead as confirmation of her new title! Ayu was no longer just a peripheral member of their family. No, she was now one of the central members! WC: 505

It felt like yesterday Terra and Ayu were inside their old house... Making pancakes for breakfast, folding laundry together, and preparing a surprise for Liari while waiting for her to get back from training. So much has happened and, luckily, it didn't seem that this little girl with a sunny disposition was burdened by what she shouldn't be. They changed homes. She was training, meeting new people, running around the place... Terra even went to space with Liari, visiting a snow and icy planet Frost. Ayu could tell that she had fun. Maybe it would be better to not ask for details about Liari's work... Still, nothing that happened has dulled that smile and that was enough for her.
And Ayu got... A gift. How thoughtful... Ayu took the drawing, smiling and thanking Terra for this amazing piece of art. She had a vague idea about the relationship between Moire and Liari, but if those two were happy together and Terra loved her as much it was all for the best. And, what she noticed - despite Ayu not being around for so long, the little girl still included her in the drawing of the closest family member. She could have left her out or drew her on the side - but she was there, holding hands with everybody.
It was enough to bring tears to her eyes but fate had one more gift for unsuspecting Ayu.
I call you 'Momma' now. That... That was what Terra decided with a genuine and innocent seriousness in her gaze. Ayu couldn't help but open her mouth a little, bewildered and in a way, stunned, as her mind turned blank for a second. Tears in her eyes swelled to the point that the image in front of her was getting blurry and her cheeks turned raspberry-pink.
"... H-Huh?" she mumbled in a weak voice, looking at Terra with confusion in her tearful eyes. The little one declared even further that Ayu from now on wasn't going to be known as her Auntie. She was her mum. One of three, to make things funnier, but Momma nonetheless. "Are... Are y-you sure, Sweet Pea..?" she couldn't help but murmur. There was no blood relation between them. She loved Terra as her own, niece or daughter, it didn't matter - she cared for this small, precious life. To say that Ayu was touched was an underestimated. Her heart was melting with all that love and when Terra kissed her forehead Ayu pulled her closer, embracing her tight and warm. She closed her in her arms, not wanting to let go. All those dark and menacing thoughts inside her head will be damned, she wasn't going to let them dull this moment. As much as she feared what her feelings could do to those children, she was equally aware that they needed her - and she needed them. Overthinking was bad on its own but overfeeling..? It was tiring both her mind and soul. But because she loved her, she loved all of them so dearly, she couldn't let them feel that her affection was fading - just because Ayu's heart was troubled.
Stroking Terra's head, Ayu let go. She was looking at her with a gentle smile, wiping corners of her eyes. Daughter. Maybe this title hasn't yet sunk in but it was warming her from inside out.
"Ah, sorry Sweetie..." she chuckled apologetically, getting rid of the marks left on her cheeks by tears. "I got very touched r-right now, you know... I'm happy to be your Momma." The amount of feelings swirling now in her chest was akin to a whirlpool, with one difference. The light was shining through the violent gale. Pressing the drawing against her heart, Ayu was soaking in this quiet determination, to do what she will have to do... Because the storm was coming and to protect everyone from it was a duty that was lying on her shoulders too. Not only warriors that were preparing to fight with all their might... She might have been Guardian's disciple and her role was to aid them... But perhaps it was time to push the centuries-old boundaries a little. Tilting her head, her gaze softened when she looked into red, sparkling eyes. "I just..." Ayu hesitated and then smiled warmly with just the right tint of melancholy. "I didn't think that there ever would be a person calling me mom. It took me by surprise... But I am truly happy, Terra."
She nuzzled her cheek against the small, pink temple. It was a weird, longing sensation... Was it awakened by taking care of all those children? Or maybe when Ayu's body changed, transforming into a different form, from a late teenager to a young woman? Maybe, she realized that when she was reading all the notes scattered by her grandfather, about the failed project that she was. Finding a record that she was completely sterile didn't seem like a big deal back then. It didn't matter that she couldn't have a child on her own, be it by magic or biology... There were enough kids here for her to love and take care of - and yet, she was simply their guardian. Ayu would never be their parent, she couldn't become a mother to anyone...
That was until Terra rebelled against those dark thoughts and bluntly, sweetly but with an impact of a thousand suns - called her Momma.
"Before we do anything else, I insist that you take a bath," Ayu couldn't allow herself to let her mind wander again. She gazed at Terra, looking at the dusty, sweaty, and, well, a pretty unkempt appearance that this little one was showing. She chuckled and glanced at herself, at the clothing that was now smeared with whatever was making little Majin dirty. "Maybe I should too..." she smiled, dusting her sleeve. And it seemed that doing laundry was in order too.
As they were about to get up, Ayu heard something. On their side, further behind the nearest wall of the temple, someone was standing. A short silhouette was leaning against the frame of the entrance, half-hiding, with head turned away from them.
"Hmpf," a voice mumbled with dissatisfaction.
"Why don't you come here and say hello?" she called out, but the boy was still ignoring her... At the same time, he showed his attitude that he didn't like what he was seeing. Ayu could have sworn that she felt him rolling his eyes. "Acco?"

"Yaaaaaaay! Ayu Momma!" Terra proclaimed happily! When the little pink Majin was born, she never thought her family would grow so large! At first, it was just her and Liari, then there was Ayu, but as an Auntie! Then there was Moire, her gentle, sweet, and cool Momma! And now Ayu was her third Momma, the nicest, sweetest momma of them all! Terra hugged her Auntie as closely as she could, snuggling her cuddly green parent for all it was worth! She looked up, though, when Ayu admitted that she'd never thought it possible someone would ever call her "Momma" like this! The little pink Majin tilted her head, smiling confusedly up at her newest parent.
"Why? You the best, Momma!" Terra proclaimed happily! "You take care of me! You hug me when I sad! You kiss my head to make me happy! You play with me when I want it! You as much my Momma as my other mommas! I love you, Momma!" The little girl giggled as Ayu proclaimed her own happiness, Terra only nuzzling into her tighter. She would have done it all day, in fact, had Ayu not pointed out the big smelly elephant in the room: Terra herself! Terra stepped back a step as Ayu eyed her observantly, noting how the little girl... and herself, for that matter, could really use a bath! Terra looked down at herself, frowning thoughtfully! She would then raise a handful of dress up to where her nose would be and sniff... before narrowing her eyes in displeasure.
...Mommy Ayu was right... she did stink! Maybe that climb all the way up Korin's Tower was something she shoulda skipped after all! ...NAAAAH! It was fun! AAAAND she got to see Earth from a perspective she never did before, the little girl having stopped every so often up the tower just to take a look around! ...But if one thing was for sure, Terra... did NOT like soap. NOT AT ALL! Water was okay and she and her other Mommas bathed together all the time! ...But soap made her all slippery and it felt weird om her rubber/gummy-like skin! Terra could slip around for DAYS before she'd get herself under control!
...But..... BUUUUUT it needed to be done.... Sigh...
"Okaaaaaaaaaaay..." Terra grumbled, hanging her head a bit... before it shot back up, the Majin having caught the grunt of a distant individual! Looking just past Ayu, Terra spotted a boy not a little bit taller than she, leaning against a pillar facing away from them! A bald boy, green with pointed ears and those forehead noodle-things... ten-tackles or ant-ennee, she believed they were called! Terra waved at him, eager to make a friend... but the boy either didn't notice... or didn't respond. Ayu even called out to him, beckoning for the stranger to introduce himself! ...Nothing. Terra looked at her new Momma oddly... before jogging up to the boy, positioning herself right in front of him and holding out her hand for him to take!
"I Terra! I no see you here before! What your name?"

Baths were always a slippery matter. Literally. Ayu remembered well that Terra was always a playful kid and Liari trained a lot so they both needed to wash frequently... And that it often made a mess inside their small house. She could understand the little one's hesitation but this time she wanted to take a different approach and try to make it more pleasant. Luckily, the Lookout had a nice big bathtub, not a tiny shower. And Ayu really wanted to give Terra a bubbly bath, at least once - a harmless wish that was going to be fulfilled.
She wasn't aware that Acco was nearby at this time. The boy was keeping his distance in a very odd way, staying somewhere nearby but far enough to make sure he was left alone. Ayu saw this pattern when she was tending to the Lookout, he was following her in a way - but when she would confront him about it, he would glare, say something rude, and leave - only to appear in her sight an hour later. She couldn't tell if Acco was starting to take a liking to her... Or the cause of this routine was completely opposite.
And now Terra spotted him... Ayu didn't stop her. Instead when she gave her that funny look, she smiled softly and gestured with a nod toward the mysterious person. Maybe that contact would be for the best for the little Namekian... Because there was a child, short, with light green skin and dressed in black and dark red clothes, standing next to the entrance. Maybe a soul as radiant and full of joy as Terra would be able to brighten his thoughts, even if just a little... Maybe. She hoped.
Acco glanced to the side, at Terra and narrowed his eyes with a clear suspicion. The look he gave the little girl wasn't hostile yet it wasn't friendly either... One could sum up his entire attitude this way, he didn't have any - or rather many - negative intentions towards anyone here but he wasn't pleasant with his attitude. How or why, Ayu thought she knew the reason behind his behavior, yet knowing a reason wasn't equal to finding a solution. For a second he stared at the beaming, pink face - then turned away with a scowl. Acco bluntly ignored the girl's hand, turned away, and without looking - left.
Or, he was about to leave, but he barely took three steps and from the entrance to the lower levels, two figures ran out with the speed of light, laughing happily. Celric and Cress obviously finished their training because they jumped like there was no tomorrow, messy and dirty and content. Siblings almost bumped into Acco who jumped in place and practically hissed at them with an offended expression.
"Hey, watch it!" he grumbled with a scowl.
"What, you woke up again on the wrong side of the bed?" Celric stopped to stare him down, snorted and they started glaring at each other. Sparks were flying between their eyes.
"Terra!" Cress beamed and jumped towards her friend, hugging her, completely ignoring the two boys behind her. Perhaps she wasn't stopped by Terra's unkept appearance because she was equally disheveled and sweaty. "Aw, I missed you!" she squeezed the little pink Majin with a smile. "I heard you were on Frost! Is it made of ice only, is that true?" Saiyan girl asked curiously, rocking on her heels.
Ayu was looking over the kids with a smile curling on the side of her lips. Acco and Celric were close to another fight and Cress was enthusiastically welcoming Terra... It got lively again. The Lookout was a serene place but she missed the sounds of children's laughter.
"That's enough you two..." Ayu said gently though her tone was softer than usual. She walked to the boys, crouching down and placing her hands on the shoulders of Celric and Acco. After some time on the Lookout, little Saiyan wasn't as brash as before, he didn't mind - though Namekian shook her touch instantly. With a snort, he turned around and walked away while mumbling under his breath.
"What's his problem..?" Celric's tail twitched with irritation.
"Not your DAMN business!" Acco angrily yelled at him from a distance, reminding them all that Namekians have acute hearing.
Ayu watched him disappear after the pillar, knowing that he was most likely going to sit by the one of empty rooms again. Closing her eyes for a moment, she felt a heavy weight on her shoulders but she got up without a sigh. She patted Celric's back and turned her attention towards the siblings and her daughter.
"Was he rude to you?" Worried Cress asked Terra, looking at her face for any traces of sadness or being upset.
"Tch, don't pay him any attentio-"
"That's enough," Ayu stopped the young Saiyan from continuing. Words could be hurtful and kids as innocent as they could be, sometimes were able to use them thoughtlessly. She didn't want Acco to overhear anything that might stick with him for longer, he... He already had enough to mourn. "I told you, please be nice to him." Before any of them could open their mouth or protest, she emphasized. "Please," tilting her head she gave them a careful look and her eyes warmed when Celric rolled his eyes but didn't pick up this subject again. Cress easily turned her attention to Terra and Ayu could rest easy - for a short while. She had now a different matter to think about.
They all were now stinky and sticky.
"Seems we all need to take a bath," Ayu glanced at them and chuckled. Each of them looked like they had to battle through their way to the Lookout, leaving without injuries but with ragged appearances. "Cress, are you going to join us?" The girl nodded enthusiastically, and Ayu turned her head toward her brother. "Ce-"
"I'm going to take a shower alone!" The boy turned around and as fast as he could, left them.
"... I only wanted to tell him that he needs to wash if he wants to get dessert after dinner." Ayu chuckled again, while Cress rolled her eyes, complaining about her brother. "Let's go to the bathroom."

Terra blinked as the strange boy made a point of turning away from her hand, the look on his face as if she had offered him a big, dead bug or something! The little girl didn't understand... Did she do something wrong? She looked down at her palm, in case there WAS a big, dead bug there somewhere, saw nothing, then wiggled her hand at him again! Maybe he just didn't get it...? A second passed, the boy still ignoring her, and slowly Terra's hand slowly fell to her side. She watched him start to go, Terra more... confused than anything else! She... was kinda SURE she did everything right in that interaction! Approach with a smile... CHECK. Offer hand of friendship... CHECK. ...But the boy looked at her as if she had inconvenienced him or something.
...Huh... Then again, when she looked at him, he didn't exactly look... pleased to be here. His face read of someone who had been sad a very long time, where the feelings hardened into anger on the outside, at least. Terra considered running after him, maybe wrapping the little boy in a hug, letting him know he had a friend... ONLY FOR TWO FAMILIAR FACES TO COME BARRELING OUT FROM WITHIN THE SANCTUARY INSTEAD! Why, it was Cress and Celric, her old friends! Ever since they had come to the lookout, Terra had gotten on with the two young Saiyans swimmingly! They played, trained, and talked as if they were one-and-the-same, as if they had been siblings this whole time! ...And speaking of which, Cress proved it by practically TACKLING the little pink girl, sweeping her up in a hug! Losing herself in the snugglies, Terra forgot about the gloomy Namekian child for a moment and focused entirely on Cress, laughing loudly as she wrapped her arms around her friend's neck, hugging her even closer!
"Miss you too, Creeeesss!" Terra cried, nuzzling her face into her friend's neck! Hugs were ALWAYS nice, no matter where they came from... but there was always something special about getting them from an old friend you treasure so. She sighed happily, letting this moment pass... before Cress pulled back, questioning if she'd really been to Frost! WOW! Rumors traveled FAAAAAAST! Terra didn't think she'd told anyone other than Auntie Ayu yet! Maybe she told them through tele-tha-pee or something!
"Yeah!" Terra proclaimed! "Ice ALL over the place! It like Christmas all the time there! ...Kinda dark too... Sky always black... It kinda scary after a couple days..." She shrugged her shoulders. "It nicer here! I happy to be back!" Ayu would then chide them lightly, reminding the pair that they REALLY needed that bath. Terra would grumble a little bit but she would comply, stepping back from her friend... but not before giving her one last quick hug! Cress was always so nice to hug... Warm...
...However, that moment of childish whimsy would be broken from a sudden verbal LASHING from the Namekian! Terra's head swiveled as if on a pivot, catching the last two words of the boy's snappy retort! Terra GASPED, intaking air like she was a VACUUM! Her chest swelled, her cheeks bulged, she almost swelled to TWICE her normal size... before she deflated through the little holes lining her arms. "He say a no-no word...." Terra whispered, covering her mouth with her hands! No-no words were REALLY bad, her Mommas had made it clear! If she said ANY of those words, Terra would be grounded, no questions asked! The little Majin looked on with horror as the boy stomped away, waiting for Ayu to take charge of the situation and bring down the axe... but nothing happened. Even Celric seemed annoyed. Terra watched the Namekian boy go, her eyes now full of worry. ...If he was saying no-no words, something was really, really wrong and stuff... Cress would take this moment to question if the boy had threatened her in any way, been rude or irritated her or something... Terra, still watching where the boy had went, slowly shook her head... before turning back to Cress with a sad smile.
"He hurting a lot..." Terra judged. "...I hope I can help him..."
With the tension defused, Ayu would gather up her munchkins and, once again, remind them that they AAAAAAALL needed a shower. Celric was eager to point out that he could do this all on his own before bolting off. Terra giggled while Cress rolled her eyes. Little did Celric know, he had fallen right into Ayu's trap BEFORE she could set it, earning his dessert BEFORE he knew that was an option! He was such an eager-beaver! With Ayu leading the way, Terra would take Cress' hand, fingers interlocked, and walk to the bathroom! She might not like baths and SOAP very much, Terra, but having her bestest friend with her was gonna make it a lot better!

Managing all the kids wasn't an easy task but given everything, Ayu wouldn't change it for anything else. It might have been troublesome, worrying, and difficult at times but there was nothing more rewarding than listening to their calm breaths, sleeping peacefully by her side. Maybe she won't ever have a child of her own, maybe in her life only Terra would call her Momma, but that was alright with her. In her heart, those kids were hers. She loved them all, even the one that was refusing the affection, hidden tight in the shell of pain in burden.
To help him, they needed patience, indulgence, and care.
Acco wouldn't want to join them anyway, be it bath or dessert, and Ayu wasn't going to push it. He needed time and space and constant reassurance that they were here for him - even if it seemed that he did not appreciate that last thing. She glanced at the little Majin, looking back at where Namekian left and turning to Cress. Terra had a kind and sensitive heart... Maybe Ayu could tell that because she wasn't any different in that regard - she only hoped that unlike her, the girl would be able to manage her empathy better than her. Because in her case, Ayu's sensitivity was too strong for her own good and she felt often so overwhelmed she ended up being... Well, useless. There was no other name for when a person couldn't do anything and that happened to her a lot.
However, it wasn't about her, so she shut down those thoughts. With Celric now taken care of, it was time to clean all three of them. Bath time it was.
"I know you are worried, Sweetheart, but with time, Acco should be fine. We all know that he isn't well right now," she gently patted Cress's and Terra's heads. As they were walking to the bathroom, Ayu raised her finger, shooting a bit of her energy through the air to disturb the soundwaves for a moment. Namekian's hearing was especially good and she knew that the little boy was able to listen to everything they talked about on the Lookout... That's why she wanted to mute the sounds with a bit of buzzing right now. "Sometimes... Sometimes when people are sad and in pain, they get angry to make that anger bigger than their hurting," without fancy words, to make it easy to understand, Ayu tried to gently explain to the girls the cause of Acco's behavior. "They want to block their feelings with rage and after a while, they don't know how to stop it. Acco has been through a lot and he's putting on a brave face..." A sad smile curled in the corner of her lips. She could tell that he was a sweet child, the one who was tormented by things a child should never experience. "He doesn't want to feel sad or hurt, but there's no shame in that. It's alright to cry when we're in pain."
"Yeah, Celric keeps saying he never cries but I know he does, he just wants to be tough!" Cress rolled her eyes with disapproval and winked at Terra. Her older brother wanted to be a mighty warrior, a hero, so, of course - he didn't want to be babied, he did not feel fear or sadness and overall was just the toughest nut to never be cracked!
But there were so many people right now putting on a similar act to not show how scared they were. Some couldn't keep up the facade while others started to use it daily. Callion did so too but mostly for the sake of others, to not worry them with his suspicions. Heh, they had something in common... It didn't feel right, to sweep emotions under the rug. And mocking anyone for expressing their feelings wasn't fair either... Funny how Ayu could be worried for their sake and simultaneously berate herself for feeling too much. Though it wasn't the same thing, no. At least not in her eyes.
"That's why I keep telling everyone to be nice to him. So we could help make his anger smaller," she smiled with tenderness in her gaze, opening the door to the bathroom, and letting them in first. "Now, dirty clothes go to the basket in the corner, and Cress, please don't add anything into the bath just yet."
"Aww..." the girl mumbled, already holding a bottle of bubbly soap, ready to pour the whole content into the tub. "But why? It's so nice with all the bubbles!"
"You'll see," Ayu smiled. The bathroom wasn't that big but the bathtub would be enough for the three of them. Now, she wanted to prepare the bath while the kids were undressing and preparing - Ayu started pouring the water inside, checking its temperature. From the cupboard on the side, she pulled a small bottle, one from the set she was given by Callion. It contained herbal oil from a different planet, sweet and refreshing... The look on Ayu's face betrayed melancholy and worry when she watched light reflected on the smooth glass surface of the bottle. Slowly shaking her head, she turned around to the tub, adding a few drops to the water. A pleasant smell soon filled the room.
But that wasn't all.
Lightly clapping her hands, Ayu made a plant grow between her fingers. Thick stalks with scale-like patterns sprouted white flowers looking like lilies that quickly turned into something... Something that was reminding everyone of elongated red pinecones. But they were upside down and sticky with resin. Their scent was enjoyable and spicey a bit, warming up the air.
"Do you know what is this?" Ayu asked, sitting down on the bathroom's carpet so both Terra and Cress could take a good look at the flora species she just created. "I'll give you a hint, we're going to use it in our bath," she chuckled.

Terra felt like she was missing out on something... For anyone with any kind of eyes, it was obvious that the Namekian kid was hurting. She didn't know why or what caused it, but people weren't just MEAN becauuuuse! Something else was going on... but for whatever reason, Ayu wouldn't say explicitly what. Did Cress know to? She looked over at her friend... No obvious answers there. Terra merely frowned and nodded her head, accepting what little explanation she was given. Momma Ayu would tell her whenever she thought she needed to! After all, if she was keeping it a secret and stuff, it must've been really important! ...Wouldn't stop her from being as nice as she could to the boy, though... If one thing was blatantly clear, he needed a friend, even if he himself didn't know it yet. With determination in her mind and love in her heart, Terra would make sure to let him know what she was always here for him, either as a listener or just a presence! Maybe someone roughly around his own age would be able to make it through all that meanness...
WELL, ANYWAY, the trio had made their way to the bathroom and Ayu already gave the two kids their orders to strip! Although Terra was eyeing the bath tub warily, she would comply and quickly remove her dress and slippers, tossing them, as per instruction, into the bucket in the corner of the room! She even got all three articles in on the first try! Lucky! She would then turn around and wince as Cress raised a bottle in her hand, the dreaded BUBBLE BATH soap Ayu, for whatever reason, had got them thinking it would add FUN to the experience! NO! It was horrible! Terra had been slippery for WEEKS after getting covered in the stuff and bubbles had been coming out of her holes (including her EARS) for DAYS! Trying to speak sometimes had her burp up a bubble mid-sentence instead! The way Terra looked at the bottle, one might've thought she was staring at a vial of deadly poison or something, her little pink form shivering slightly at the idea of being lathered in it again! Where Cress whined disappointment, Terra SIGHED in relief as Ayu revealed they would NOT be using that HORRIBLE soap today! Instead, as the petite green woman filled the bath with hot water, she would clap her hands together and generate a unique white-flowered plant with pine cone-like things sticky with resin sprouting off of it! She would then ask what the plant she had just summoned was... and honestly, Terra had no clue! She had never seen something like that before! Sure, she knew some of the more basic, pedestrian plants. Sunflowers, Roses, even herbs like rosemary and basil... but this was something new, almost like a cross between Flower and Herb by the smell of it! The hint didn't do much to get Terra's gears turning either. She cocked her head in confusion, looked at Cress... and shrugged.
"Maybe a kinda of pepper-flower...?" Terra guessed, eyeing up the resin-y red pine cones. "...It some kinda soap...?"

That was an interesting question, right? The curious and puzzled look on Terra's and Cress's faces made her chuckle lightly. It was time for a bit of plant Trivia with Momma Ayu.
"That's right, though not quite," Ayu smiled and nodded when little Majin suggested it might be soap. "This plant is called Shampoo Ginger Lily and I am not the one that came up with this name." The term told them everything they needed to know. She smelled the vibrant red flower head with the warm, gingery aroma and sighed with relief. Lowering her hands she let Cress and Terra look at the specific plant to their hearts' content. "That's how it naturally looks and people have used it for a long time to clean themselves - it makes a nice bubble bath but the gel dissolves easily," Ayu winked at Terra. She knew very well how her pink girl disliked all kinds of soaps and shower gels but with this things should be less slippery than usual. And more fun too! Now, to extract the gel... In total Ayu created four stalks with red pinecone-like flower heads and gave them to girls, two for each. "Now, hold them above the tub and squeeze really good to get the gel out," she instructed, letting them play with ginger lilies.
The translucent, fragrant gel was hiding in the red shell-like petals that were creating this pinecone-flower head. Flora surely was something else... Ayu could manipulate the flora to make blades of glass as sharp as knives or as hard as diamond - and yet mother nature always was more crafty than her boldest dreams.
While Terra and Cress were having fun, Ayu needed to prepare for a bath too. Her hair... Her long hair was always a bit of concern, never letting her enjoy a shorter haircut - it always grew back right away. Maybe it had something to do with her regeneration ability... And when she thought about it, she touched her side. The bruises from the latest training should be all healed by now. Well, no matter. She sat on the small chair to tighten the braid, making it easier for her to tie it into a bun. Smaller and bigger strands of hair slipped away from the weaves but using a ribbon she was able to keep it in place. To make sure it won't untangle Ayu put on a pink bath headband, tucking the rest of the loose hair under it. The soft bath headwear was something she never thought she would use - but somehow she still got it.
Now, to put a handful of towels nearby... Some sponges and other things they might need. Placing all of her clothes in the basket, Ayu rubbed her bare shoulders, walking up to the bathtub. It seemed that the water inside was indeed, bubbly and pleasantly fragrant.
"Great job," she praised them with a smile. "Now, hop in~!" she encouraged them, going in herself and placing one foot inside the tub. The water was hot but not too hot on the first contact so there was no need to wait for it to cool down. The mountains of snow-white bubbles were surely a sight to behold - maybe the girls did their job a tiny bit too well... Ayu got inside, sitting on one side of the white, old-fashioned tub. The bubbles were soft and the pleasantly hot water was something her body needed after morning training. With a shower at her old place, she never had an occasion to just soak and relax in a bath... Even if the times were dire and one could berate oneself for not staying vigilant and on edge, Ayu couldn't worry her children.
Gently she scooped some of the bubbles and gently blew on them, making them float in the air.
