Post by Zaks on Dec 22, 2023 19:01:22 GMT -5 Onboard the Yangcong the flagship of the Saiyan Empire sat figure in the mighty vessels command chair. She was much larger than anyone else in the room and stuck an imposing figure that would leave even most warriors unnerved. Even the ones who were close to her were unnerved by the figure at the moment as she had been acting strange for days. Ever since her encounter back on earth she had become quick tempered and was spiraling downwards each day growing slightly worse. Even her most trust aids Gemini, and Shizo were having a difficult time despite that they knew what was going on.
It had started out with recalling all the Saiyan squads on earth or any representive they had any were on the planet. Some were still making their way to the Ship and had not heard the news of what had transpired back on earth. Even more so what was happening back on Vegeta currently with the… well war for all intents and purposes many of them had not been pleased and some had almost ruined what little chance they still had at correcting all mistakes of the Saiyan Empire made. And that was the core problem of the Mighty Queen of the Saiyans.
Vegeta was gone… or soon would be and she had trusted the earthlings and there so called alliance. But every step of the way they wanted to absolve themselves of their guilt and blamed everyone but themselves. The Human mercenaries that had killed the princess of the Saiyan.. its not our fault our government didn’t condone it. Yet they blamed orange city on every Saiyan. We didn’t blackmail the Saiyans or hold power over there world that was only Partially the USD and some corrupt Saiyans in leadership. But they had been the primary funders of this and had used the Saiyans in their own agendas. IF that had been true then why had they allowed who they were saying was corrupt to base themselves in there cities? Humans were all children who could not stand tall and be honest about there mistakes.
As her temper rose again so did her power level making everyone in the room nervous as most knew the Queen had not slept much since the attempt on her life. To many warriors she was a ticking time bomb and all were worried what was gonna happen when she finally exploded. Thankfully it would not be this time she lost as another Squad had arrived making the Saiyan leader sit up straight to greet the new arrivals. Closing her eyes she waited until they were in the room before she began to speak.
“” Welcome… I news to share with you… and a glimmer of hope… was it Salada? “” She welcomed the Squad and who she believed to be the team leader. She spoke calmly but one could see the bags underneath her eyes along with some fresh wounds even though they were very minor. Her voice didn’t waver but was off all the same at least to anyone that knew her. Lastly the queen no longer wore her comfy outfit she was Famous for but instead her full royal armor Crafted on Vegeta.
Regardless she spoke next almost if she had said the lines she spoke many times before and the truth was she had…to every Saiyan warrior on earth who had answered her Call.
“” Vegeta is gone and many forces on earth have betrayed us… We can no longer be… Idle.”” There was a brief pause as she spoke as if she considering something distasteful ”” Now we must make…some desperate plans … Artic the one who is reasonable for the destruction of Vegeta is on his way here. Together with another super Saiyan I will fight him.”” She did not tell them that hope of winning was slime. She did not tell them the full story of the dragon balls or the attempt on her life in full. She was far too tired for that. Besides more than likely one of the aids told them the full story before they had made it to the central chamber.
“” You And your Squad…. Will lead Any survivors along with the children that escaped from planet Vegeta in the Case I Fall in battle on earth.”” She closed her eyes for a moment and reviewed the reports on Salada in her head. The woman was Arrogant, prideful, and Driven. She was not the strongest and by Zaks standards even Cruel. And that was the reason Zaks had chosen her partially and she saw potential in the warrior as well. Zaks had possible lead the Saiyans to ruin by being to soft… Salada might have what they needed from the start. Lastly Salada while Cruel by her standards was honorable to a fault at least by what the reports shown.
“” IF you want anything from Me before the battle starts… ask away.. But this ship belongs to the Saiyan empire… if I fall it will be yours to Command.”” Zaks did not evey the warrior before her. If Zaks failed to stop artic here and now she would be living a life on the run with rowdy children. No Zaks would have the easier task to fight and die as a real Saiyan warrior.
"" Ahh yes... i had forggoten the hopful part. If the plan goes well and the humans dont betray us again... We will bring back Vegeta and... put to rest two of the largest threats to our people. when that time comes you will be needed once again. now... i said... do you want anything i can give.""

Salada had been called to the Queen's ship and she was nothing less than apprehensive. The nature of the call indicated nothing optimistic, that was certain, leaving the young warrior to believe that this... was an urgent call. Regardless of her feelings towards Zaks and her rule, Salada took Jarehd, the only other member of her squad, and shot off towards the assigned coordinates, finding the Queen's very own capital ship resting in the center of Earth's Break Wasteland! ...Odd... Why would she set down here, of all places? In fact, why wasn't the Queen on Planet Vegeta, ruling like she was supposed to? Wasn't it SALADA'S job to be here, setting a good example for their kind? Salada would share a pensive glance with Jarehd... before heading inside.
There, in the center control room of the ship, sat their Queen, a serious look upon her face. Immediately, out of respect of her station, Salada knelt low before their ruler, her head bowed in a sign of submission as an inferior. In both power and station, Zaks outclassed Salada by several leagues. She was the mightiest of their race that was still loyal to their kind... despite her mixed blood, and, as a result, Salada would have been more than a little foolish to make her true feelings known. Zaks greeted them formally, going as far as to recognize Salada among ALL the other commanders, generals, and soldiers under her command! The young Saiyan would look up in surprise that she herself would've been recognized by the Queen before looking down again, hiding the smallest smirk of pride upon her lips.
"Your majesty." Salada greeted formally. ...Then Zaks informed her as to why they were all here. Queen Zaks had news, news she must share with... her and her squad... alone...? Salada would look up at that, confusion across her face. News? But why her? Surely the nobles would have informed her through the generals if Zaks had a command for her to carry out. You know... chain of command? "Of course, your majesty but... what is so important that it would bring you to this... place?"
Vegeta is gone...
The rest of what the Queen had to say was lost on Salada as this news was relayed to her, the Saiyan's expression contorting in blank surprise as she stared sightlessly ahead! Her ears rung with utter shock, her breath caught in her throat, her skin grew clammy with sweat as her subconscious accepted what her mind yet couldn't. Vegeta was.... It was... But that would explain why she couldn't contact them earlier... Salada had gone through at least a dozen scouters trying to ring up their home planet to report on her status but... she just couldn't get through. Even biometric data, the SIMPLEST of information was being bounced back by something... she just didn't know what! At the time, she had just assumed it was something in Earth's atmosphere, some rogue element the Saiyan records had failed to account for. Now it was...
"That... that can't be..." Salada whispered, her voice trembling, barely audible! "...Who... How... What..." The air had been knocked out of Salada as surely as if Zaks had PUNCHED her herself, the strength draining out of her body so quickly, she nearly collapsed there on the deck! Her entire people... Her race... they were... all...
As Salada struggled to come to grips with this HORRIBLE news, Zaks continued, asserting that Earth had betrayed them somehow. She did not state whether or not they were working with Arctic, the DESTROYER of their world, only that she and another Super Saiyan would join forces to face him! Salada blinked, staring up at her Queen pleadingly. She... This couldn't be real, could it? Salada, as something of a scholar on Saiyan history, knew that once, their planet had been destroyed by a changeling... Now it was happening again... How... HOW could this be!? AND WHY WAS ZAKS HERE WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIGHTING TO SAVE THEIR PEOPLE!? Salada felt sick... her stomach tossed and turned as if it were trying to digest a mouthful of dirt. It felt as if the universe had suddenly CRUNCHED down to a VERY SMALL sphere around her, the young commander suddenly finding it extremely hard to breath. It was happening again, the erasure of their kind... And Salada... was one of the last.
As if this news wasn't overwhelming enough, Queen Zaks, in the event she is slain, decided to put Salada in charge of finding and leading any survivors of their genocide! In essence... She would be Queen! Salada looked up at Zaks, another level of shock shooting across her face! ...Yes, it was true that Salada had mused about becoming Queen. When she was strong enough, she had intended to challenge Zaks for the throne, when she felt READY! Now...? With their genocide hanging over her head and Zaks' potential death, Salada suddenly felt the pressure of a SUN fall upon her shoulders, nearly crushing her underneath it... nearly. Salada gritted her teeth before any emotions of weakness could fully set in, merely bowing her head and forcing them down into the pit of her stomach as deeply as she could muster. She wouldn't break down... Not in front of Zaks... She, for all intents and purpose, was to be the heir to the throne in these trying times... and that meant she had to show strength!
"As... as you command, your Majesty." Salada muttered, choking the stammer out of her voice. NOW, here came the doozy. Zaks informed her that, in the event she survives the coming confrontation, she would SOMEHOW bring back Vegeta! No elaboration, just that she would. So many feelings were going through Salada's head, it was almost IMPOSSIBLE to find comprehensive thoughts among them! Were they doomed? Were they saved? What was their situation!? GOOD!? BAD!?
"Your Majesty... Do you... know how many of us are left?" Salada asked, looking up at the Queen? "My squad... did they escape? Did any of the nobles escape? Are WE all that's left?"

Zaks could feel her shock and if she had not already had time to prepare for it herself she doubted she would be much better then Salada at the moment. Even knowing vegeta was going to be destroyed had hurt her as she had held a small hope earth would be first. Her face showed no emotion as she let Salada have a moment to comprehend the situation before her.
It did not take long for the woman to realize those she did care about would have been on vegeta or might have been on Vegeta. She instantly turned to Zaks the only one who might help her knowing there Fate. Zaks smiled softly with only a hint of pain reaching her tired eyes as she placed a hand on Salada's shoulder. it was warm gesture unfitting for a saiyan Queen but that was something Zaks was coming to Accept. She was never fit to be a true Queen of Vegeta And she had been looking for a replacement long before the artic conflict. But none of that matter Right now and the Saiyan woman before here did.
"" Your Team got orders to leave Vegeta 3 hours Before artics arrival. I do not know if they survived but they is a good chance they did and you might want to contact them as soon as you get a chance.""
The Queen let out a tired sigh as she took a little longer to think on how to full let Salada know the situation. She regarded the Young woman before her deeply her eyes searching for something before shaking her head softly and turning away. The Gesture was tired and easy to see even for someone that was not well Acquainted with the Queen. "" Roughly 7,000 Saiyans made it off Planet Vegeta,"" It was Actually a high number considering that Saiyans had rebounded back after much worse losses."" But.... 5,000 are infants or children under the age of 14. I have found them a home with a young half breed who will host us on his ship. This will keep us out of the humans or anyone else's debt.""
She did not look forward to the future of these children knowing full well that Artic would hunt them down no matter were they went in the universe. In a way she almost smiled at the though that the Saiyan would soon be the resistance to the now forming Artic empire. but that didn't matter if she succeed and beat him here on earth.
Turning to a glass window nearby she looked outside the ship her eyes stared hard at the earth as she prayed she and her allies could beat him here and now. If not...then she hopped Salada one day could win. "" I.... Will win on earth... There will be two other Super saiyans that will be joining me there. but... I am leaving you in charge for two reasons. In case i fail The Saiyans must go on and you are the only one i can see leading them to that future. Most Elite Saiyans are.... well lets just say I wouldn't trust them with anything. You on the other hand show what they don't have ... is the drive...""
The Answer was Vague and she knew it but could not explain it fully. She didn't thing Salada was a goody toe shoes and that was partially why she chose her. But while she could be ruthless she from the reports was not needlessly cruel at least to her own people. Her pride was pure and incorruptible unlike the others. The others would bow before artic or some one else. Salada would not or at least she did not this so.
"" The Second reason is.... I was never Raised a Saiyan... The Saiyan people need to change even if I win this war here on earth. But I don't think i should be leading them anymore.... They need a leader more like you.. If i survive ....I intend to step down fully and let some one else take over. You are one of the prime Candidates.""
Zaks took a second to let that sink in To Salada mind as she Kept staring out the window. Before she spoke Again her voice now for the first time showing true Fury. "" Earth... has broken there promise to us a third time. After the Crisis I intend to remind them once and for all that Actions have repercussions. Not only them but frost as well but... tell me.. What would you do?""
Taking just another deep breath Zaks looked straight at Salada a smile appearing on her lips. "" Me... I will make sure what happened with artic can never happen again.. I will take control of the Dragon balls... And I would take Planet frost by force. Now what about you""
Zaks waited there Judging the Young woman. After all her Answer would dictate what she did next.. It was a test that needed an Answer.. a Calm... Confidant and intelligent answer.

Zaks' revelation was the most bitter-sweet punch to the gut Salada had ever felt in her LIFE. On the one hand, the fact her squad survived the GENOCIDE OF THEIR PEOPLE was a relief... Yeah, they were a bunch of blockheaded idiots, but they were HER idiots. She was their commander and it was her job to make sure they at least LIVE through their assignments! She wouldn't call them "friends." Friendship among Saiyans was a rare thing indeed. After all, theirs was a life of battle and death and forming connections when such things were what you lived for was like putting a shackles on your arms and legs before going to war.
...However, that didn't mean she wanted to see them dead. ...But that was the easy part. Queen Zaks revealed next that only roughly 12,000 Saiyans survived the genocide. Salada took that in with a gasp of air as if she had Zaks had kneed her in the gut.
"Twelve..." Salada grunted, breaking into a cold sweat. Less than half of 1% of their population made it... and barely over half of those were of fighting age! The others were just infants! Salada blinked rapidly, her breathing growing quick, almost panicked! She couldn't believe it... How could this have happened!? Granted, this wasn't nearly as bad as the first time where there were somewhere between two and ten Saiyans left in the universe but... 12,000... Could their population even SURVIVE that massive of a loss!? And if so, where would they go!? What would they do!? WHY did this happen!? The world seemed to spin around the commander as her mind whirled with it, desperately trying to wrap itself around the severity of the situation! Her whole kingdom... her RACE... it was all gone... and they were reduced to hapless refugees... AGAIN! Salada's pride... no, the pride of the SAIYANS went from mighty, unbreakable, indomitable... to shattered in just one simple sentence... and the young commander felt it as if it were a most grievous wound. She reached up with a gloved hand and pressed it against her breast-plate, her heart beating so fast, it felt as if it would crash right through and spill out onto the floor! No... no, she had to calm down. YES, it sounded foolish in the face of the situation but.... she had... to get it... under... CONTROL. She couldn't afford to panic. Not anymore. Their people were reduced to ash with the remnants scattered to the wind. What they needed... were leaders...
So, you big baby... Salada chastized herself internally. Put on your big-girl panties and MAN UP! This is WAR, now! Get your ass in GEAR! ...Somehow, that helped. Salada's eyes cleared from fearful to focused, her expression hardening as she locked eyes with their Queen once more.
"What are your orders, my Queen?" Salada asked stoically, forcing all of her feelings deep down inside. "What is my role in our revenge?" Well... Zaks would certainly tell her the situation. At first, Salada would SNAP to attention as the monarch revealed that there wasn't just ONE Super Saiyan afoot on earth... but THREE, including herself! ...It was spreading... the legend... Salada had always assumed that there would ever only be ONE Super Saiyan ever at one time. And why not? For GENERATIONS, that's what it's always been! But now... Salada smirked despite herself. Maybe SHE would be one of the few who touch upon that legendary power. Already she was leagues stronger than just about every other Saiyan! Maybe... just maybe... she could realize the legend herself. The second thing that caught her attention was that Zaks was going to leave Salada herself in charge of their remaining kin while Zaks herself went off to war. In the event of her death, essentially, Salada would be Queen. And if she lived, Zaks was going to abdicate her throne to someone else... possibly Salada herself! The young Commander blinked... then furrowed her brow. So many feelings were whirling around inside of her, so many thoughts of all different types flashing through her mind this way and that... Good, bad, but mostly conflicting and painful... Ugh, it gave her such a headache... Salada only bowed her head in acknowledgement of Zaks' declaration... hiding the almost... sad frown upon her face. Salada had always been ambitious and she had always wanted power. She was not unlike her kin in that regard but unlike them, Salada had ALWAYS had her eye on the throne. She thought she could do it better. She WANTED the opportunity to prove it...
...But NOT at the cost of 99.9% of their people! NOT THIS WAY! Anger boiled in Salada's blood... Anger towards the man who killed so many of them, ANGER towards her assignment from Earth keeping the Saiyan from evacuating more of their people, anger towards the Queen for telling her all of this NOW... Her wrath reached out and throttled MANY like a mass of writhing tentacles, targeting just about anything and EVERYTHING even vaguely connected to the Second Saiyan Genocide! ...But that's not where it ended. Zaks was determined to continue the warpath further, bringing her might to bare not only against the man that killed their people... but also Earth... and the whole of Frost as well! Salada's eyes widened, anger... mixing with dread.
"Wh... what would I do?" Salada repeated as the Queen asked her so. "...Permission to speak frankly, your majesty." If Zaks gave it, Salada would continue. "There are none of us left. only 12,000 Saiyans and you want us to fight a war with Earth and then The Planet Trade Organization? We don't have the logistics for that, let alone the bodies OR the power!" Salada's mind went full tactics-mode making general estimates of their strength based on the average power of their soldiers and what can be expected from the developing Saiyan children. "You yourself have already asserted Earth has two other Super Saiyans! How are we going to defeat them and then conquer the rest of Earth? Its infested with powerful warriors that could easily defeat our common soldiers." She then stood fully, animated by her assessment. "...And the PTO... Frost... They had an army roughly equal to ours before we lost our home planet... How are we going to match them now? Even WITH you by our side, my Queen, we're simply out numbered, out gunned, out resourced... out EVERYTHING. We can't fight a war like this. Not YET." ...Salada's voice almost sounded pleading... And why not? Zaks was essentially suggesting throwing EVERYTHING they had left into a battle that was for... what? Revenge? Wasn't... you know... SURVIVAL a more immediate concern!?
"What would I do...? I'm going to train to get as STRONG as I can, find my crew and then train our remaining people. I have to make sure they're strong enough... We can't afford to have weak links anymore. Damn the elites and damn the royals. We're going to DIE if we aren't all powerful enough to carve out a new life for ourselves. We HAVE to survive!"
...Zaks would then mention something else... something Salada had only heard of vaguely in her time on Earth.
"Wait... Dragon Balls...? Those are... magical orbs sought after by the Earthlings, correct?" Salada questioned. "...And they can grant any wish... I see..." Her heart fluttered, realizing Zaks' plan... It almost brought a smile to her face, in fact, the hope that perhaps they could raise their empire from the grave, save their race from death BEFORE it had fully been buried... but wait... Their Queen mentioned Frost again... Salada shivered.
"...We must NOT go to war until our people are revived." Salada insisted, shaking her head. "We are already endangered, my Queen and we were conquerors before we were reduced to... this. The universe will no doubt already be looking for ways to exploit our low numbers and we have not a home world to retreat to and regroup. We have to play this carefully. We need the Dragon Balls first." Salada insisted, raising a clenched fist for emphasis. "I can't search for them myself... I'm not strong enough. I need power. I need strength... I need to become a Super Saiyan! THAT is what I'll do! ...And then... I'll find a way to train more of our people to become them. We need that golden strength in abundance... if we cannot revive our dead."

Zaks watched the Saiyan warrior before her closely as she processed all the information she was being given. She could see the horror at the possibility of losing her Squad. She also saw the relief when she learned that they had more then likely survived. The Queen knew how bad the shock she was feeling was as she herself had dealt with the exact same feelings when she had learned of it as well. But for now her showing empathy for her squad was a good sign as far as Zaks could tell. After all the role she was pushing her to take over needed a leader that cared about there people more then everyone. Several of the other candidates had been ruled out by this alone.
Zaks had pulled this exact same card or trick on several other possibly saiyan candidates to take over in the chance of her death. Several had failed this test and the following test. Several had been more hopeful that they would take over as the leader of the Saiyan people then sad or angry about there peoples fate. These ones had been discarded and told of there failure. Thankfully that was not the Case with Salada. It was even better that the young warrior pulled her self together and used her mind to figure out what to do next. "" Hmm good good she might be the one I was looking for to take over from the start."" She thought to herself and she would find herself not disappointed in the slightest.
Most warriors Quaked under the queens gaze and while there was a certain level of it within the Saiyan warrior it was true fear. It was further proven when she spoke out in warning about the Queens Intentions. "" OHH?"" Was the queens response as she listened to the warrior explain her self and plans to her.
she listened intently to the warrior and had a hard time keeping her aproval from showing to much on her face as she actually agreed with what she said. The plan was almost word by word of what she wanted to do herself and even then Salada was not privy to all the information at the Queens disposal. I wonder if she would have completely reached the same decisions as i had? "" She thought to herself even as she thought of the best way to conduct her final test of the young woman.
Before she finished her test it was time to be more honest with the Warrior and explain things a little further. "" How much do you know of the super Saiyans besides the legends? By now I would hope you know that most if not all Saiyans can Achieve it. The legends are a bit misleading."" With her lecture she began to walk closer to the woman before walking slightly tp her left as her eyes held Salada's. The silver orbs demanded her attention even as they reflected The woman's own reflection back down at her. This close it was easy to see the fatigue that plagued her features. it was also easy to see her eyes still remained focused despite her abnormal state. "" It is triggered when a certan mental state is achieved in a response in a need for power... At the moment of the transformation a Saiyan must need that power...to achieve revenge? To protect who that care for...ever Saiyan can have a differnt need. Mine was....
FEAR..
The fear of death and failing to avenge my daughter's death drove me into my own transformation..."" As she spoke her body started to shift in subtle ways placing a hand on Salada's shoulder the Queen body changed in response to her memory of that need. The shifting of muscles and her very skeleton were subtle and more then likely would not even be noticed if it was not for the fact of there physical contact. Her silver orbs turning golden even as her hair changed to a metallic silver that seemed to glow. The light was gentle as her transformation and only those who could sense Ki would realize just how much the Queens transformation changed her."" As you saw... and felt my body changed to adapt to that power. Your will have to as well just Like his...""
behind Salada Shiso the Saiyan general had quietly snuck up behind the woman and placed a hand on the opposing shoulder of the Queen. He did not have her control so his transformation was not subtle as there was a flash of golden light and his body changed to adapt to the new power it had. His power would be noticeable to all the Saiyans near by as he had to shout his own transformation even if he kept most of the pressure from pushing into Salada. The transformations were very different from each other As the queens was not a Saiyans true power.
"" As you can see Mine is different then Shiso behind you. And probably the reason that I cant Ascend even higher into super Saiyan as I have witnessed others do."" Zaks let that set in and watched to see her reaction at the revelation that Super saiyans were not the height of what a Saiyan could achieve. "" I have seen a Saiyan transform even further along a super Saiyans power. it was... amazing and...unreachable for me. "" Both warriors let go of Salada before walking back to the throne and retaking there positions. "" I am not sure if you have learned how to sense KI but you felt the difference in our transformations. Shiso can climb higher as a super Saiyan... I cant. And I believe there is even higher forms to achieve. That you... could achieve.""
Zaks was placing a lot of faith in Salada... for many reasons. She was possibly the future of her people and some one stronger then herself who could achieve what she could not. To truly protect her people. "" So now you know what i want a Saiyan to lead a full blooded Saiyan to lead. your potential is higher then mine...and were I hesitated you wont...at least I hope you wont.""
"" May the princess is alive...and will return to you soon... if you do not reach a level to beat her she will take command of the survivors. You need to be stronger then her if you wish to succeed. Her death and revival has made her...a bit cruel. But she will be a great help to you if you manage to befriend her. She admires power and honesty. And is far more talented then i am if she were to ever train. But... well she is not suited to lead for many reasons and nether is her sibling.""
Zaks had not intention of explaining the way of Mays return to life as she assumed Salada would assume she used the dragon balls. after all Zaks was so sure they worked it might stand to reason why she put so much faith in why they would work now."" What do you think i should have done at north city... Keep my peaceful promise as I did... or since the humans betrayed us burnt the city down?""

As if it weren't enough to learn of the effective second end to their race and her Queen's desperate attempt at some measure of revenge, but NOW she was telling her that the Saiyan legend wasn't a legend at all... but something any Saiyan could achieve? EVEN MORE, there were multiple levels to the transformation that could be achieved with... emotion? Salada's eyes shot as wide as dinner plates as the other Saiyans around her transformed into their golden state... all except Queen Zaks who turned silver. The commander's world EXPANDED to the point cracks started to expand at the edges. It was all so much so quickly... On the one hand, the boast that Salada had made to Athren all that time ago seemed to become more real! On the other hand, Zaks' display had all but destroyed one of the most central legends in Saiyan culture: that there was but ONE legendary Super Saiyan! ...In fact, there were several. IN FACT, it seemed, anyone with enough power and enough... what... fear? Anger? ...Could become one. Salada wasn't sure what to do with this information... but Zaks seemed to. He informed Salada that May, her child, would be returning to Vegeta in time. If Salada wanted the throne, she would have to grow to surpass her, the previous royalty, if she was to obtain the throne. Salada narrowed her eyes at the challenge... uncertain what it was for.
...Was Zaks looking for someone to bring her daughter low...? She need not make such an elaborate challenge if she wished to test the mettle of her offspring. After all, she was Queen. She could just force the issue and order Salada to duel Princess May. Or, perhaps, if she wished not to risk the death of even more of their people, she could merely choose a successor. What was she supposed to even say to this? May was an unknown element as far as Saiyan royalty is concerned. Salada hadn't heard any more of her besides her name before now... and she was being... beckoned to fight for a position she had wanted for... what?
If anger was one of the primary feelings that brought out the golden haired transformation, Salada was already halfway to achieving it. Even Zaks could see the fury building up behind the eyes of the Commander. This was not the time for petty, uncertain actions. Their populations were small and they couldn't afford to have their future hinge on a duel which may or may not completely alter the infrastructure of what remained of their race!
"With all due respect..." Salada huffed through gritted teeth. "...We require unity as a people, your majesty. If you have faith in your daughter to lead, despite her less-than-pure blood, then appoint her your successor. With our numbers as few as they are, we can't afford to squabble amongst ourselves over leadership. That can only lead to disaster." ...Salada had seen it enough on the battlefield. She had exploited it on the battlefield. Civil wars or even civil distress were prime opportunities for conquests. With their inability to form a united front, many races have fallen under the Saiyan banner with extreme ease. "I would ask you do not make the throne a prize in a duel, my Queen. I would once again stress that we proceed with caution. Our race is at the edge of extermination. Would you so easily risk it now over a question of leadership?"
...Well, Zaks was ready to answer Salada's question with one of her own: What should she have one at North City after the human betrayal at North City?
"...From a military standpoint..." Salada proceeded, choosing her words carefully. "...We simply didn't have the strength to challenge Earth at that time. Earth is a planet of capable warriors with an oddly diverse population for a singular planet. If we were to conquer it, we should have retreated temporarily and returned in force." ...The words tasted sour on Salada's tongue, her pride ACHING as she spoke them. ...But she knew that this was the correct answer. No one Saiyan, royalty, monarch, or otherwise was going to be able to challenge Earth's unnatural might. No, a small army of elites and royals would be called for... and perhaps that would only be for the first wave as a method of cutting through their initial defenses. ...But what would the casualties look like? What would they get from conquering that backwater, undeveloped hovel?
...Salada didn't know. She didn't understand why Zaks clung to Earth like it was valuable or something. Earth was powerful, yes. Perhaps, even, a decent place to train with all of it's powerful warriors and... Super Saiyans, but the way Zaks spoke rung of obsession. She wanted revenge against HUMANS of all races... perhaps one of the post pathetic peoples in the universe.
"What is it you want from me, my Queen?" Salada questioned bluntly, starting to lose her patience. "Is this meeting to inform me that I am your chosen successor in the event of your death? Is it that I am to defeat and potentially kill your daughter in order to secure my potential rule? Is it to inform me that one of our most sacred legends was a farce all along? Please, be frank with me, my Queen. What is it that you have called me here for?"

Zaks could see all the emotions that crossed Saladas face changing from one feeling another. Zaks could not blame her at all as she was being fed a lot of information all at once and they were not small issues. Zaks had been overwhelmed as well when she had learned them and she had not learned of them all at once. Much less right after her home world had been destroyed. She could not but feel a little Empathy for the woman but refrained from trying to comfort her. She was not close to her and she could already see the woman dripped with Pride and she almost smiled. After all it reminded her of her master Vegeta Jr. She had learned to Respect that pride while she trained under him or got beat down by him daily. Even with everything going on Salada surprised her with her next words and she could not help but grin down at her. Even though she was angry she kept a level head and told her that her people needed to stand united. She went straight for the jugular even though it concerned her daughter and she knew most people knew not to touch the subject with her. Fearless or at least prideful enough to say it anyway. Her Assessment of what happened at north city was even more surprising for many reasons. One was the Fact that most Saiyans didn't realize just how much stronger earth was compared to Vegeta. While it was true that the General populace of Vegeta was much stronger then Earth by leaps and bounds. The same could not be said about there true contenders in battle. It had been there best three vs two warriors and they had lost. At the time all there had been several even stronger warriors on earth that Zaks had known about that had not contributed to the fight at all. If they had all had worked together then Vegeta would not have lasted even 5 mins in a fight. IF she had any doubt of Choosing Salada as her successor then they were gone now. Oh she would stick around about longer if she lived through the upcoming battle but actually leading was gonna be left up to her. With her coming to a decision finally on the matter She could not help but feel the tension bleed from her shoulders. She felt the headache lessen that she had been having as well. it was not a complete relief but it made her feel several times better. She had almost missed Saladas next declaration that was laced with a bit of venom, Frustration, And most of all confusion. She could not blame her as she had not been direct or Fully explained everything to her. She had been treating her as subordinate instead of a successor that she now considered her was. To her own defense she had literally just decided it but that did not matter when it came to what she asked. Turning away from Warrior Zaks walked to a nearby window and looked down at the earth her gaze hard. "" You ask what is it that I am asking you simply?"" Tilting her head to the left slightly and small smile appearing on her lips. her shoulders were less tense then they had been a few hours before now. "" Simply I was looking for a successor So i could stop being the Queen of Vegeta. I have been looking long before artic had even become an issue."" Turning to look back At Salada the Queen took two Steps forward and kneelt done so they could look each other in the eye. She did not want the warrior to have to look up to speak to her as she did not want the warrior to feel like she was being talked down to.
"" What i want to do is leave Vegeta in good hands. I have been looking before Artic became an issue. I wanted to break away to keep training to become even stronger without distractions. I wanted away from the pressure of all the back stabbing being royalty entailed."" Zaks silver orbs looked directly into Salada's challenging the woman before her without saying a single word. "" The only reason I ever took the position IS I hated what the Saiyans had become... SCUM...CORRUPT.. Weak..." Her last word was soft and held sadness that did not reflect the unblinking orbs that bored into Salada's. "" I couldn't take how we would destroy worlds...and took pride in it. Killing none warriors Children and being proud of it. How weak must you be as a warrior to take pride in such a thing? Did we seek out strong warriors to fight? no.. we didn't. It showed to... our King could not even beat my Daughter now who cant even fly! Who never trained a day in her life my ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER."" standing tall once more as he eyes challenged Salada to refute her. "" Tell me what we were? Common Mercenaries for the USD.. hell anyone that paid us."" Finally Zaks closed her eyes and sighed deeply. "" Not that I didnt make mistakes... far to many mistake at that. But at least i didn't take false pride of my people. .. Did you know that Saiyans Saved the universe from destruction several times? that we were Great Warriors? Hero's? Hero's that could fight even the gods... now.. now we are pathetic."" She was rambling again and she could not but shake her head to try to gain control of her feelings for a moment. Suddenly her eyes locked once more onto Salada's as they changed from silver to Golden that reflected Salada in them. All of her Regal athorty return all at once as she spoke her command. "" What i Expect from you Salada is to take control if you Agree to this. To lead us away from this False pride and save us all if I fail or fall in battle. For you a full blooded Saiyan to Rightfully lead us to a better future... And if my Daughter returns be strong enough so she will submit to you and aid you. "" Zaks leaned close to Salada her nose almost touching the other womans. Before she smiled revealing a Row of sharp teeth that were designed to tear apart her Prey. "" A Real Saiyan should be the one to rule our people. Not a half breed.. Not a half breed that will never grow old and die."" WC 1089 TWC 4087

Well... if Salada's head wasn't spinning already, it was now. 'Stop being Queen?' 'Get stronger without distraction?' How could one who had fought and taken the mantle of QUEEN for herself speak of the role thusly? Salada had spent her early career getting stronger and rising through the ranks for her ambition. She had defeated many of her kin to get where she was, shed the blood of many enemies both significant and not. Her eyes had been set even higher, somewhere beyond a purely militaristic career: She wanted that throne. She had seen how the Saiyans had been slowly drifting away from their natural roots, becoming less and less as conquerors and warriors and more of... apparitions of such a thing! An arena...? Somewhere Saiyans fought EACH OTHER to the BLOOD!? A... a PLAYPEN for aspiring warriors where their hunger for battle was satisfied at home, serving NO PURPOSE rather than among the stars serving the EMPIRE!? What was more, their QUEEN seemed, until recently, to be a soft, unconventional sort. She was powerful, yes, but her temperament hardly resembled that of a Saiyan noble. No, she was more human-like, plebeian, something more resembling and Earthling official with a strong attitude than a Saiyan warrior whose nature should inspire the lower classes.
What was worse was that NOBODY dared to challenge Zaks, even for the principle of the thing! She couldn't tell if they were terrified of her power or simply didn't care, but Salada REFUSED to believe they were actually SATISFIED with their most recent monarch! NO Saiyan worth their scouter would DARE feel anything but SHAME at the direction their race was going... and yet... Even before Salada had been shipped off to Earth, she had heard nothing, not even the faintest of rumblings of an uprising against Zaks, this barely Saiyan creature. ...Perhaps it was her position of authority holding her captive, keeping her from putting her ear close enough to the ground. Perhaps it was because she had politic-ed the Nobles and Elites to her side, corralling the lower classes under her shadow as well so that any sign of rebellion was swiftly and quietly quashed. ...There had to be a reason other than satisfaction that Zaks had held the throne this long...
Salada had to actually RESTRAIN herself when Zaks spoke poorly of the previous administration, the CLOSEST THING to the Saiyans' golden age since their destruction 200 years ago. Corruption...? SCUM!? Weakness, Salada could understand. Even with the massive power gap between herself and Zaks, Salada stood a whole head, shoulders, knees, and TOES over the common warrior. But the former two attributes...? Those were their NOBLES! Their ELITES! THE PINNACLES of their society and Zaks spoke of them as if they were trash! Salada's eyes darkened ever so slightly as Zaks rolled on past that point, her lips curling downward into the faintest of scowls.
"...We were conquerors." Salada asserted, enunciating her point. In just two sentences, Zaks had displayed WHY Salada resented her position on the Saiyan throne: She was a BLEEDING HEART! Did she CRY in her royal bed chambers reflecting of the dead? Did she think of the children when Saiyan drop-pods crushed them upon contact with their planet's crust? Did she visit their pathetic little graveyards after each conquest, leaving.... FLOWERS at their tombstones? Salada's expression turned visibly sour. They HAD been conquerors once. It was a never-ending battlefield in space... and it was theirs for the taking... But Zaks... and to a lesser extent Brachus, refused to let their race do what they did best: Fighting and KILLING!
Oh, good. At least Zaks could admit when she was wrong, that she had made mistakes or... something. Salada cocked her head to the side, uncertain what she meant by "fighting gods." Yeah...? Salada could probably kill the god of Earth now if she wished. "God" was such an arbitrary title, now. All it took was a position and acknowledgement, not unlike the title of "King" on Earth. ...As Zaks rambled, Salada's mind wandered. She thought of an empire surging with a legendary golden power, a universe bathed in blood, and a throne of everlasting conquerors forever expanding the iron fist of the warrior who sat upon it. She dreamed of a real empire, a SAIYAN empire, one with a pure-blooded warrior on the throne.
Her.
...And Zaks was willing to give it all to her RIGHT NOW... if she agreed to her terms. Salada stared up at Zaks, calculating dark-tinted eyes scanning the Queen.
"I will lead the empire." Salada stated vaguely. "I will do what I think is best for our race." There was no point in blatantly lying. If Zaks survived and came back to Vegeta, she would see for herself what Salada had done with it. If she died, it wouldn't matter anyway. One way or another, there was no point in blatant falsehoods... just enough finagling with wordplay to get the result she wanted. Zaks would then lean in real close-like, her lips curling open to reveal a fanged smile not unlike an Earthling shark. She remarked how a pure blooded Saiyan was required for this, how an undying abomination wasn't what was best for the title of Queen. Salada said nothing, only staring back at Zaks.
...Was this a trick? What was Salada supposed to say to this, even? She chose to keep her mouth shut and wait for what came next. Somehow, she suspected, Zaks would smack her with some other revelation that would send her world spinning on it's head once more.

Zaks hadn't fully liked Salada's response and could see the pride in her eyes. Her voice had held deep surprised anger when Zaks had spoken badly of the past of the Saiyans. To Zaks the warrior was a baby when she considered her age but not her life Experiences. But Her pride of her people was partly what Zaks had wanted to find even if she did not like it. "" I can see you still Take pride as the Saiyan people as warriors and Conquerors. There Strength and power were something to take pride in. But... It was not there heartless and brutality that saved the Saiyans... it was the kindness that did. And that Kindness was held by the strongest of our people.. ever in our history. although if i hadn't been so kind... I would never had been betrayed so many times now would I?""
Zaks turned away and walked down the hall of the ship as if she was leaving before stopping at the far end. Turning her head so she could see Salada the Saiyan warrior looked Salada dead in the eye. "" I prefer to fight warriors instead of children Salada... What about you? What Queen will you be? What will your Saiyan pride push you to do? What will you push the Saiyan people to become? Also... we were not Conquerors... we were destroyers. Run the empire as you see fit once it is restored.. I guess I just want to hear myself talk and provide food for thought "" Zaks was honestly wishing she could see the empire that Salada desired and wondered to herself if she would be ok with it. She knew almost right away that Salada would not force the Saiyan people into a forced peace. No she would lead them to battles and her greatest concern truthfully was what battles would that be? "" Also do me a favor... Even if i die it will be possible to visit me just ask May for help with that if i Die. But... once you become more then just a Super Saiyan.. Come fight me. If i am alive or dead. Show me what your Saiyan pride and Arrogance amounts to.IT should be fun... I was designed to fight the gods and win. Yet my people rejected me... my other people. I am to weak to fulfill That purpose. ""
She could not help but to feel a little Excited that she would possibly have a strong Opponent to fight if Salada Agreed to her Request. Not that she was gonna stop training and wait for her. No Zaks herself needed to change even if she didn't know how to yet. Zaks only had the ability to transform into a super Saiyan. Sure it was different and far more powerful then a regular Saiyans transformation once she learned to control it but it was also a dead end for her. Salada was pure blooded and did not have that issue. Zaks wanted her to Agree to her request badly. After all a possible Opponent stronger then her? Without any stakes but her own life? It was a dream for the Queen. WC 527 TWC 4614

"With all due respect, your Majesty, you didn't get your throne through 'kindness.'" Salada remarked, growing impatient with this line of thought. "The empire wasn't built off of the soft, squishy feelings weaker races. We grow powerful through battle. We fight. We KILL. We conquer. In fact, as you have noted, we wouldn't BE in this situation if we hadn't trusted a race like humanity to have our backs. It was a weak decision, your Majesty. It was weak then and it is weak now. Power through strength is what matters. We get stronger when we fight and are at our strongest when we fight to the finish. You should know that."
...ANY Saiyan should know that. Any warrior worth their salt has tasted the flavor of death on their tongue at least once in their lifetime, has felt the rush of surging power as their body evolved at the brink of death. It was in their nature to grow strong this way, their blood driving them to the edge again and again, their minds urging them to keep the battles coming. the way Zaks talked, it was as if she wanted to do away with that part of Saiyan nature, as if she believed that there was more to be gained by being a sap than a true warrior. She would even go to admit as much, commenting how she felt BAD for the children of the conquered races that were ground to dust.
"...I wouldn't expect you to understand. You aren't a full-blooded Saiyan." Salada grumbled, her face contorted with a slight twist of disgust. "This is what we DO. We're soldiers. War is not a clean business. Blood is always going to be spilled and we revel in it. While fighting powerful warriors is what we all hunger for, pity for the dead is not only useless, but it's a sign of weakness. THAT is not what we are: Weak. To feel sorrow over a victory is to be defeated by the dead, My Queen."
...Well, Salada decided, regardless of what she would've said, it seemed as if Zaks had fully and totally forsaken her throne because she was giving up no resistance to what Salada proposed. In fact, it seemed as if the Saiyan Captain had just been unofficially given the throne of what remained of their empire... with one condition: She was to find Zaks once she became a Super Saiyan and fight her... even if the half-blood queen was still dead! Salada cocked an eyebrow.
"What...?"
Indeed! It seemed that there WAS, in fact, an afterlife and that Zaks' child was capable of ferrying people to and from the land of the dead! Salada's eyes narrowed at her (former) monarch, wondering if she had delved too deep into her "food for thought" and lost her mind entirely. What was she even TALKING about? Did this imply SOULS existed beyond the metaphorical? Did this imply there was some kind of judge shuffling souls around? She couldn't imagine that, if that was the case, the dead could so easily slip away from their rest! Salada stared at Zaks for some time, not giving an answer one way or another, UNCERTAIN what answer to even give!
"...If that is all, your Majesty..." Salada muttered, doing her best to keep from shaking her head. "...I'll return to my post and wait to hear word of your battle. I hope... you succeed in what you plan to do." ...If Zaks didn't stop her, Salada would rise to her feet, bow her head and move to exit Zaks' chambers.
"...I need a drink... or twenty..." Salada muttered once she was out of sight.

Zaks watched the woman leave to get herself a drink and could only think of what the woman had said. Pity for those that died? No Zaks only felt sorrow for failing in her duties or when her child had died. It was not pity that made Zaks want to leave weaker races alone but shame. but what did it really matter? She let the warrior go as it was plain to see the two would never see eye to eye. A small grin flashed across her face as she realized her own mental pun before she turned to leave the ship. After all she had a job to do and she already knew what the result was gonna be. As much as she hated Salada's ideals she knew the Saiyans would be in good hands or at least the best hands available. Turning to the warrior at the door she spoke with authroity as she brushed past him on her way off the ship."" When she is done drinking herself into a stupor take her to the Queen Quarters... She is effectively your Queen now.. "" Now all that was left was her to leave and to embrace her fate. WC 200 TWC 4814 EXIT
