It all started thousands of years ago on the distant world known as Gar-Antus, the ancient world of the Fury. There while meditating in one of the most holy places in all of Fury society, at the very place legends stated that the Twin Dragon Gods, Basirius of Light and Volda of Darkness descended upon the land and shared their aetherial wisdom with the ancient tribes. With the two Gods as guides the people of the Fury flourished and tamed their violent and dangerous world, holding them to a high standard of honour and nobility.
On that fateful day inspiration struck the monk, a whisper of wind brushed by her and she just… knew. She could feel it. An energy permeating all living things. The grass, the birds, the fish, and animals and herself. She already knew what this energy was, the Gods had told the Fury of it long ago, a sacred power that, once they where ready for it, would be the Fury’s to master.
That energy was Orgone.
Once news of the monk’s discovery spread other began to experiment with the senses attempting to tap into this energy, but no amount of meditation or training could ever tap into it beyond simple sensing. All that changed hundreds of years later when an enterprising researcher, who had dabbled in Orgone sensing, decided to try an experiment to tap into that elusive promised energy.
His invention was the first Orgone Extractor, a devise that drew out Orgone energy into a form that could be manipulated both through willpower and technology. At first it was a simple fuel, bringing the Fury’s age of fossil fuel use to a grinding halt long before they even discovered the concept of greenhouse emissions. With Orgone energy now a corner stone of their society the some minds turned to less peaceful applications, however progress was difficult. Orgone was pure energy with not solid form, even if you where to force it down a tube it would simply disperse quickly, and portable extractors where bulky. The first attempts at an Orgone weapon where in the form of a short range siege weapon used to burn through walls and barricades from less then 50 meters away.
But technology, inevitably marches on, as did the efforts of the various martial warriors of the Fury. Between the scientific minds and warriors determined to supplement their martial arts with Orgone a method of converting raw Orgone into a crystalline material they dubbed Organite was eventually developed. Initially this required a Fury to will it to take shape by the industrious scientists of the Fury found a way to automate the process.
Furiemshinken: Energy Materialisation.
The rank and file of the Fury armed forces, as they stood at the time of the attempted invasion of Earth, knew little about the technique to will Orgone to take shape. However the most elite of the meritocratic society’s elite warriors, those that had earned a place among the Fury Knighthood, where expected to learn it. Squires, the lowest ranked where expected to still only be learning, though Quasi-Knights, Knights and especially the Knight Lords where all expected, if not required to have mastered the technique to earn their ranks.
With this new power discovered it was the beginning of a new era for the primary martial art of the Fury people. A golden age of discovery as new techniques where invented and new ways to wield the power where invented, all while their technology advanced with new innovations that supplemented and aided in the rapid evolution of Furiemshinken into a martial form like no other.
Surprisingly, the Fury called this era the Era of Unification, as while it was a golden age for the development of technology and the art of Furiemshinken, it was also an age of global warfare. Conflict on a scale the Fury had never experienced before as every faction, kingdom and warlord on the planet with access to Energy Materialisation set out in conflict with the others to assert their dominance in technology and martial might.
But that is a story for another time…
The Energy Materialisation technique didn’t remain stagnant, however. It was no unchanging pillar, too sacred to be tended to, adjusted or modified. Over time successive generations refined the technique, finding simpler and more efficient methods of performing it and passing those tricks to the next generation to tinker with.
By the time of the invasion the technique had been taught to a small group of individuals who would come to call themselves the J Numbers. The first five where three teen girls, a teen boy and an adult woman. The girls had been abducted from Earth by the Fury and experimented on, then trained in the art as part of the experiments. The boy was the half-human son of a Fury Knight Lord who had been living on Earth as a spy. The human woman in the Earth defence forces who was taught it by another Knight Lord who had been impersonating a recruit as part of his spying mission. Those first five could manipulate ki, something the Fury had no knowledge of, and discovered that ki worked equally well for the Materialisation as Orgone did.
One of those three girls that had been experimented on would go on to adopt a grandson to whom she would pass on the technique.
Her name was Fa Galswith.
And the halfbreed Saiyan-Demon named Liek was that grandson.
That was why the youth was found standing in a clearing in clear concentration. All around him the clearing was marked with scaring and pockmarks from small explosions. Dirty and debris marred Liek’s face and clothes as beads of sweated glistened on his brow. He could feel it. It was so tantalisingly close. That thing he had been practising and trying and failing to achieve; the successful usage of Energy Materialisation. The efficient formation of a crystal of viable size and density quickly enough to actually be usable in a combat situation.
It had been ten years since he’d first been shown this technique… would today be the day he finally got it down?
“Here goes…” He muttered and thrust out his hand.
“FURIEMSHINKEN!”
He could see it clearly in his mind’s eye. The crystal he wanted, four inches, six sides, six faces on the main body. The intricate lattice of the bonds binding the energy together. It all flashed through his mind in an instant as his ki surged through him.
“ENERGY MATERIALISATION!!”
And with a flash there it was, in his hand. The crystal he’d envisioned.
The boy whooped and cheered, jumping back and forth in jubilation! Ten years of blood sweat and tears and finally, FINALLY, he’d done it! He’d performed Energy Materialisation properly! He could just imagine the grin his grandmother must have from the afterlife, the twinkle of pride shining in her eyes…
In his excitement the boy forgot about the sweat covering his palms and the crystal slipped from his grip. As the crystal bounced off the ground and began to shine he realised the error he’d made just in time for the crystal to blow up in his face. The blast sent him sprawling and tumbling on the ground.
After a moment of lying there the boy rolled onto his and back just laughed. He was just too damn happy to care about the embarrassment or pain!
He’d done! He’ had done it! HE HAD DONE IT!!
