The sun was slowly setting, dawn overtaking the sky with an orange hue with clear skies and just a handful of clouds decorated about. This meant darkness was about to settle. The demon was on a mission. A special one, according to her higher ups. Something was stolen right under the Red Ribbon Army's noses. Something... important. It was some sort of remote control that was needed for one of their private projects. It was discovered days ago that it was missing from their labs, and Myojin was recently informed of such an unfortunate event. And of course, Myojin was more than eager to get on the case. To track down the thief, bring back the device, and... for the demon's own entertainment, "teach" this thief a lesson. The last part wasn't apart of the objective, but what's a little harm in making sure the thief doesn't become a repeated offender? But the demon, unsurprisingly, got distracted. The remote control had a GPS device installed, but eventually it disconnected. Either the device worn out or someone, mostly the thief, managed to disable it. Its last ping was in the Theron Mountains, so it was only logical that Myojin tried her luck there. Admittedly, she's gotten distracted as she came across a rather unique location in a land that held nothing but what mother nature and father time crafted together. Faithful Eternal Church. Church. Faith. Myojin was unaware of how "faith" was handled or even interpreted on other planets. During her ventures to other planets as a USD operative, Myojin was always curious when it came to the culture that resided in other planets, but never had enough time to go in depth within their culture. From what she heard, a few species on some planets were agnostic. There was no god, but they believed in a supernatural element. A few others would claim that there is a god of some sort. Others claimed that the one that ruled the planet was their god. It was a funny thought. During her human days, Myojin never questioned whether or not she had a religion or even believed in some sort of supernatural. It piqued her interest, but never enough to explore her own faith. She even wondered if her sister was a believer at one point. The demon was founded kneeling in front of an alter at the center. Her eyes were closed as both hands were cradled on her knees. It appeared she was praying. Despite her new life, Myojin's old memories and the hardships she underwent still stuck to her as if she never changed. The demon's familiarity with religion in general, its concept, it never left her. "Please... give me the strength and guidance as I venture on through the day with a clear mind and soul. Please, aide me to continue on even when things seem bleak and dire. Give me the ability to push forward when I cannot get things to go my way. Please... let... sanity... remain in me..." Myojin ever so delicately whispered the prayer to herself. What was she praying for? And why? Honestly? She never knew what it was like to believe, to have faith. Especially as a demon, it was ridiculous of her to do something that was naturally against her nature. At the same time... inquisitiveness was what drove her into "praying" instead of searching the church for any sign of life that she could take in for tor- "questioning". Maybe... just maybe... her human side was never erased from the demon DNA that corrupted her. When Myojin opened her eyes and stared at the block before her. She casually licked her top teeth as a bored expression took over her face. She was already unamused. This felt weird. What the hell did people see in believing in a religion? It was perhaps because of her demonic nature and being able to witness what the afterlife held, was it because those that never saw the afterlife know exactly what is in it? That could be the only way. Myojin herself never knew what the afterlife held until she became a demon and recognized the powers that granted her the ability. But the bored expression was quickly turned into a smile. That was one thing she held over other species; being able to know what the afterlife held. The perks of being a supernatural creature. It didn't matter what they believed in. What mattered more was what Myojin knew about the afterlife. About Hell. About the Demon Realm. What Heaven was like, at least through word of mouth of demons who have managed to peak what was above the world. "...Heh." Myojin chuckled to herself. "Maybe if I start preaching and creating books... perhaps I may build my own following and eventually create my own religion... maybe then I could become a goddess in a world filled with mortals who would kiss every step I take on the ground." She purred in satisfaction at the thought. As a demon, she was always insensitive when it came to sacred topics such as religion. In fact, she found it... pointless. Delusional, almost. Though again... the concept of "faith" was always interesting. ...Alluring, as a matter of fact.

"...Shit... they're already here."
Not too long ago did Shorette venture out from the abandoned Faithful Eternal Church building for supplies alongside her new recent companion, Yoguri, an ex-soldier of an organization that took over her home and forced her to fight with and for them. If she could call her a companion or if the other woman considered herself to be an ally of the sort to Shorette. The decided the church was going to be their temporary camp for the night until they were refreshed and ready to head out. It was only a few hours ago were they on their way to see the organization that brought Yoguri's civilization to a mere base to their camp. Artifacts were stolen, buildings were in ruins, and they took the one thing that represented Yoguri's city that must be taken back for the ex-soldier's sake.
The duo split up to gather resources to cover ground and extract them quickly. It appeared as though Shorette was the first to finish but not without a dilemma that stuck itself in the young woman's way. There was someone else in the vicinity. She could feel the disturbance that erupt in the air as a new figure was marked close by. She couldn't figure out who it was since they were far, but all the young woman knew was that there was another person on the scene. There was something unearthly about the figure from the vibrations she felt. The way they carried themselves, it was all too unnatural for Shorette to ignore.
And there they were. As Shorette returned to the church with a bag filled with various items discovered during her venture, natural light already began to disappear from the sky. The building was almost drowned in darkness, but still light enough for the young woman to spot someone just across from her near the altar. The young woman pursed her lips in caution as she stealthily crouch walked her way behind one of the rows and seats. She could pick up something, almost a murmur, but it was too quiet for Shorette to fully understand what was said. But if she had to guess... it sounded like a prayer was being said.
Interesting. Not too long ago did the young woman have a talk with her stubborn companion about religion and faith. Shorette herself was never religious and neither was her father. In a world where danger is almost always imminent and constant threat by both its native habitants and foreign forces, she couldn't help but respect those that did. The way she saw it, it was the explanation to everything that happened in the world or even throughout the universe. It was all according to their creator's plan. It was their method of comfort.
Shorette gently approached closer as an attempt to get a better look of who the young woman might deal with. As she got closer, still in stealth mode, she noticed that the figure was a woman who dressed in all black. Throughout the dimness of the building, there was a very noticeable feature that she made out: the tattoos. Her body drowned in ink. Shorette was never one to judge, since for all she knew, this woman could be begging for forgiveness; mayhaps a hasty accusation based on the tattoos she saw. Intriguing as it was, there was no time for small talk.
The mysterious woman before her was a stranger. This meant she could be potentially dangerous, and Shorette had to make sure that she had the upper hand was in control of the situation. She could never be too safe than sorry. With her right hand, she quietly drew out her silenced pistol that was gifted by her ex-militant ally. Finger wrapped around the trigger and left hand wrapped around curled around the right, she delicately rose the firearm and aimed it right at the woman's head. The safety was on as she had no intention to do harm... if it never came to it. Her thumb was right on the edge, just in case things get messy.
"I hope I haven't interrupted your prayers, or at the very least interrupted while you were praying." Shorette called, once she was just a few feet away from the woman. Now all Shorette had to do was keep a close eye on the woman, see what she'd do next. If things go swimmingly, the gun would be put away. If not, well, it wasn't her first time using a pistol.

An unfamiliar scent was caught by Myojin's bloodhound nose that immediately caught her attention. Mm, a visitor. The scent picked up was sweet, very easy on the nose. She took a deep breath to indulge in the scent, just about satisfied and craved for more. Such a scent was rarely ever picked up by Myojin from another person out of all things to exist in the universe. "Mm... sugary." The demon couldn't contain herself, but she did and showed her best to stay as calm as she did when she sat in place. It had to be a woman, and a human one at that. Other races had general distinct scents that helped her depict who was what, and while it varied amongst individuals within those races, her guesses never steered her wrong, yet.
Myojin bowed her head down, as if unbothered or unaware of that there was another creature present. She closed her eyes and pretended to resume her prayers. The scent gotten stronger, which meant whoever else was in the church crept closer to her. A smirk broke out on her face as she picked out another scent, though faint... steel. This person also happened to have their gun out, shown and ready for potential use. Using a gun in a sacred, holy location? Tasteless and offensive. It nearly made Myojin giggle, but she was strong enough to hold it in instead of letting it all out.
Finally, she heard a voice. A woman, as Myojin expected. She was near. No, she was directly behind the demon. Even if she couldn't see it, she imagined that this human held the gun right at her. She even had the audacity to apologize for interrupting her prayers, which she should! Still, Myojin kept her cool. As she talked, she purred in satisfaction. Such a soothing, relaxing voice. The puur transitioned into a giggle she kept in. The giggle was delicate, but had a threatening vibration to it, as if she wanted to be challenged. Her first response was to shake her head before it was her turn to respond.
"Not at all. You came in right on time, I was just about finished. It would've been bad if you dared interrupt me during it, I'll be honest." A dry laugh escaped the demon. She spoke politely, all but candid to present herself as nonthreatening... at first. Still on her knees, she turned around to still show she meant no harm. "Tell me, are a believer of the sort? Is there a god you believe in? A reason you think the world functioned the way it did?" Myojin was curious. There were millions of nonbelievers, Myojin included as she knew what came in the afterlife, but she never met anyone, human or not, that had some sort of faith. Not that she'd mind if the other woman wasn't, since it was irrelevant to what she was going to do, but it'd be an interesting experience if she was.
Myojin held out a hand close to her as fire sparked at the center. Before the other woman knew it, a small flame ignited and flickered from her palm. Both parties were able to get a clearer view of who they spoke to. To Myojin, she couldn't help but deliver a warm (pun not intended) smile at the other woman. What a beaut. Her blue eyes, her jet black hair with blue highlights that was similar to the color of her eyes. She smelled sweet and looked sweet as well. What was not so sweet was a pistol with a suppressor aimed right at her with her finger locked onto the trigger, ready to pull it back.
Still, the demon, for now, played it nice. Myojin noticed the other woman carried a bag with her and it only made her curiosity grew. She might or might not have what Myojin looked for, and she doubted the woman was willing to confess the contents in her bag. There were other, funner ways for Myojin to get her hands on the bag. But sometimes, slow and easy was always better to build up the climax before letting things go to shit the old fashion way.
"Stay a while. I've been all on my own since I've gotten here. I'd feel a lot safer knowing a beautiful woman like yourself can defend a helpless woman like myself?"

The other woman was strangely compliant. A little too compliant, Shorette felt. She even played along with Shorette's quip. How rude would the young woman be if she interrupted the tattooed woman at gunpoint? The other woman displayed well-bred in her voice, especially under the circumstances brought on her, but Shorette still kept her guard up as she let the gun remained leveled at the other woman. There was something off about her, even when she's just looking at her backside. That only made Shorette grow more weary about the individual. She appeared oppositely of a threat, but anything can happen in this world. "I suppose it would be terrible to intrude. Hopefully you can forgive me and understand that I can be a little... 'on guard'." She spoke.
Then the woman turned around to reveal herself amidst the dark that closed in on them as the sun began to set. Her hand held out, she then summoned a small flame that emitted light around them in short range, clear for them to see each other's faces. Shorette was taken aback momentarily from the sudden summon of the fire, but she remained calm. The young woman got a better view of the kneeled woman. From what she saw, her entire torso was covered in tattoos. The shoulders, the arms, the collarbone, the arms; Shorette could only assume that her entire body was covered in tattoos from the neck down. She appeared to be human, but with how well she was able to ignite a flame out of thin air, she thought otherwise.
Regardless of the gun that was pointed directly at her, the tattooed woman remained calm. Not a hint of panic or alarm anywhere. Instead, she offered a smile, truly meaning no harm. Shorette felt like putting her gun down, but her gut told her to keep it in place. No. Not yet, at least. If she was able to summon fire, then I have to be on high alert at all costs, until Yoguri gets back. Survival mode was always on, so trust was at an all low.
A question arose surrounded around faith and religion, specifically if Shorette herself had faith of some sort or was into a religion. "No." Her answer was short and quick to the point, but before the young woman decided to elaborate. "I was never introduced to things like that when I was child, or exposed to any of it throughout most of my life. Things like 'faith' or being religious never crossed my mind until recently." A reference to her encounter with her ally, Yoguri, which all stemmed from Shorette wanting to complete what her father started in researching an abandoned city with a belief of a goddess that represented justice and order. She was a nonbeliever, but she'd be lying if she said the lifestyle and practice never interested her.
The tattooed woman offered Shorette to stay with her; why? She didn't know and she didn't trust her not one bit. She may appear to be harmless, but that means nothing when she proved she can be the opposite, just from her being able to use fire. But would the woman attack her if Shorette decided to decline and stay put? The young woman had no extraordinary abilities to defend herself. Not even ki.
Damn it. She had to comply.
"Alright." Shorette was cautious. She slowly placed her gun back in her holster before she then sat next to the tattooed woman, but kept a reasonable distance from her.
"So... do you always pray? Are YOU a believer?" The young woman asked.
