“Hep, pep, pep, pep! One-! Two-! Three-! Four-! Keep your face up off the floor! One! Two! One! Two! Stay up straight that’s what you do!” The boisterous noises coming from the beach surrounding the volcano were a common theme these days, blending in now with the rest of the nature as they’ve become accustomed to him. Animals were never very wary of Ryuji, not since he was born if he could remember it anyways. Master of many pets and petter of many fluffy things, the young boy was fascinated with and in return treated with great curiosity by creatures of all kinds. His parents always attributed it to his being kind in spirit or just similar to his father, peacefully immersed in nature.
Ryuji was currently doing some of his midday training. Running around in the sand at the water’s edge was a decent exercise for most, but to get a little more worth out of it, he had decided upon a bolder strategy. Thus began his valiant trek around the island that he now called home, in a permanent handstand walk that only paused to do push-ups from the same position. His arms needed a lot of work to get results, after all! His words had no real rhyme or reason, but carried a decent cadence to keep his brain from getting too bored as he trudged onward. While he trained his body to exhaustion, however, there was more activity happening at camp. Lunch was already cooking, with a whole tuna roasting over a sizeable fire, staked on a good ol’ Capsule Corp Camping Spit. Slowly turning like a rotisserie, the tuna was near to perfection, and the pot in the flames under it had a thick brothy soup in it full of root vegetables and onions. Ryuji was a well trained cook thanks to his family, and the smell was intoxicating.
Approaching the camp now, the bubblegum boy felt the hunger deep in his soul as the smell wafted over him, but he didn’t falter. “Hup, hup, hup, hup…”, the chanting ceased as hunger consumed, and his hands carefully carried him towards the meal. Dropping into the sand a few feet from the fire, he would be catching his breath and staring into the sky…

It wasn't often that ABAS found himself outside of the Crane Dojo these days, but, as always, he couldn't deny the Blacksite. Nine had pulled him out of a training session with Shen and dispatched him on a mission to find this reclusive "Kaiju-killer". Apparently, a decently strong ki-wielder had been able to match, if not exceed, a giant organism devastating one of Payapa Island's cities. Judging by the retrieved footage of the disaster, this being had been able to stretch its limbs to unnatural proportions, marking it as some kind of alien or biological creation such as himself. While the former possibility was far more probable, there was always the risk that some whack-job had stolen data from ABAS' own creation and made an off-brand copy. And thus, he had been sent to either commend this being for its bravery, or neutralize it if it appeared like a threat. As ABAS shot over the ocean, trailing an aura of lime-green ki, he allowed himself a small moment of reflection. He wasn't sure how he felt about the possibility of meeting another like him. Liari's prodding had allowed him to move past his illogical denial of the human's strength, albeit reluctantly. And he KNEW that there were other bio-androids out in the universe. Finally, it would be idiotic to pretend there wasn't a chance that one of those bio-androids was stronger than himself. However, no matter how he tried to make those puzzle pieces fit together in his mind, they just....didn't. It was like an equation he couldn't solve, a bit of data that he could not parse. It....irritated him, but he decided to shelve it for the moment. As Shen was so apt to remind him, Crane School students did not allow their mind to get distracted by random thoughts. There was a time and a place for theorizing, and it wasn't during a mission. ABAS stretched out his perceptions, searching for strong ki signatures. "A query. Are you the one who took care of the Class 10 organism in the city near here?"
ABAS descended from the skies above, landing with a puff of sand mere feet away from Ryuji. The bio-android tried his best to appear friendly, holding his arms limply at his sides. However, there was something to his stance, to the way he carried himself, that unconsciously betrayed his ability for great violence. "I must commend you on your work. A lot of lives were saved due to your actions. However, I must ask. Were you born on Earth? Or did you arrive from elsewhere?" Spaced out as he was and somewhat worn from the constant training he’d been doing, the little bubblegum boy wasn’t using his energy very actively at the moment, not that he was concealing it either. Rather, he was being very lax in monitoring his surroundings. You could chalk it up to a lack of real fear of danger or perhaps the fact that even in his weakened state, no one of similar power had shown themselves to him. Not until now at least. He scratched at his chest absently and was caught mid yawn when someone spoke.
The voice would shock him back to his senses and out of his daydreaming, though not in any worrying way. He was really surprised to hear someone speaking, and the words didn’t really sink in at first as he stared over his outstretched body at the strange being. As his eyes readjusted from sun gazing, he recognized what he was looking at to some degree. Rolling backwards and onto his feet, giving a full body shake to disperse any sand particles that were most certainly sticking to him and his clothes, Ryuji’s brain finally caught up to the whole conversation. Shuffling a bit to fix his clothing, which as of current consisted of a tight yellow T-shirt with a big banana on the front and some baggy shorts. His tail was freely exposed and curling in the air almost curiously, bushy and brown like his hair. If you didn’t notice the pink tint to his skin, you’d think he might just be some wild Saiyan boy. His bright blue eyes studied the creature as he spoke with enthusiasm.
“Wooooooowwwwww, I didn’t know they had things like Ce-“ the cut off was sharp as Ryuji realized he was already spilling the beans. Scratching at his head a bit awkwardly and averting direct eye contact, the boy seemed absent any idea of aggression from the visiting party. “Ummmm, OH! You must be talking about what happened with Goji!” He would exclaim again. After defeating the large lizard Kaiju, the young boy had made friends with him easily, and learned more about the story… “Yeah, he was really big and angry, but it wasn’t his fault! He said some people did something science-y and they made him all super big and stuff. He didn’t really know what was goin’ on, y’know?” Feeling the rumble of his stomach, he would turn his attention slightly to the huge tuna once more. “I’m, uhm, I was sorta born on Earth yeah. But like, sorta not here? I’m not really supposed to tell strangers, mom and dad said so. Well I’m not supposed to be here at all but I wanted to so I came!” He would gesture over at the fish as he’d step closer to it. “Are you hungry? I’ve been working reaaaaaaalllllly hard and I wanna eat! You can eat some too if you want? Oh, and if you wanna meet Goji I can introduce you too!”
Ryuji wasn’t really deterred or concerned by the appearance of the mystery man or his finding him there. Really, he was more excited! That meant more might follow, and maybe he could get into the fun stuff that might be going on. But first, he should probably learn what he can from him too. Information is to be traded, after all! He would put his hand on his chest with a little pride as he was speaking. “What’s your name? Oh, I almost forgot, MY name is Ryuji! I’m a warrior from… far away! And my goal is to become a SUPERHERO!”

ABAS's eyes flicked over the strange boy's form, going from head to toe and back again. The tail was very Sayian-like, that was for sure. However, the Earthling clothes and the slight pinkish tint to his skin were not exactly common Sayian features. Out of curiosity, ABAS glanced at a data readout flickering on the inside of his helmet, putting in a query to the Blacksite database. Perhaps this was some kind of Sayian hybrid he hadn't heard about before?
"They must have been truly foolish if they allowed this "Goji" to get so far out of their control. I am surprised such people would dare to call themselves scientists at all if they couldn't even predict such an obvious outcome." ABAS stepped forward with a heavy clank of reinforced metal, and extended a hand towards the young boy.
"Regardless of your circumstances, you preserved a lot of human life by stepping forward young Ryuji. On behalf of the Ki-Wielder Task Force, I extend their personal thanks. Is there anything we can do for you in return? Money, perhaps?" ABAS questioned, eyeing the young kid's hunter-gatherer lifestyle. It made sense given his implication that he had snuck away from his parents against their wishes. However, that didn't mean he had everything he had to survive. And while paying for another warrior's favor was a bit crass in ABAS' opinion, Nine had instructed him to recruit allies at any cost. With Arctic on the horizon, they couldn't let anything hold them back from bolstering Earth's defenses.
ABAS nodded politely as Ryuji offered him some food. "If you do not mind young Ryuji, I could use some extra bio-mass. Here." He said, morphing his hand into a chitin blade and slicing a chunk off of the fish. Instead of putting it in his mouth, ABAS simply tossed the chunk up and impaled it with his bladed tail, sucking out all of the nutrients and life energy in an instant. It was a paltry sample compared to his standard fare, but it was certainly better than nothing.
While he ate, ABAS glanced at Ryuji, studying him from the corner of his eye. While his biological makeup was still a mystery, his intentions were not. Ryuji actually reminded him a lot of Liek: preaching that "superhero" nonsense with stars practically shining in his eyes. While it still irritated ABAS as much as before, he would not repeat the same mistake he had made with Liek. Coming down hard on the boy would only spoil him against him. Working with it would allow him to manipulate Ryuji easily gaining him a powerful ally....

Ryuji would be nodding along with what the buggy guy was saying. It’s true, you’d think that being a mad scientist or big ol’ agency of some kind would allow you to make a super weapon you could actually control. It’s weird that someone would release such a dangerous creature, unless it was some kind of test maybe. But mulling over all those details right now wouldn’t be helpful to him right now, after all he had some real company to keep! Buggy would take a solid step forward, and the noise of his movements made the little guy think a bit more on his previous thoughts. Ki wielder task force? Sounds like SWAT for special special stuff, like what he does, but maybe this being, familiar in design to the boy in a few facets, was exactly what they were just discussing. Either way, weapon or not, he was pretty interested in him. He would give him a good, firm handshake when approached with no hesitation. “Thanks a lot!” He beamed at the praise. If any of the others felt strong like this guy did then it would be good that they already had a positive idea of him, after all.
At the question of things he could need, the bubblegum boy shrugged a bit. “Truth be told, it was kinda the plan to rough it out here for a while. I only got so much because I can make stuff out of nothin’ and the town gave me some cows!” He’d point over to the big ladies that duel his newfound business. “I’ve been going island to island getting customers to sell milk to!”Pulling out a big knife from seemingly nowhere, he would also slice off a size-able piece of tuna, slapping it on his plate and getting a big bowl of soup as well. “If you like wild stew you can have some of this too!” He’d procure another bowl and leave it out in case the strange guy would oblige. Eating a good few bites and taking a big drink of stew, taking in the veggies with little to no chewing it would seem, although hex wouldn’t be doing it all in a sloppy way. It would be somewhat impressive rather that he would keep so clean. Thinking between bites about anything else, he’d come to a good option. After a big fat swallow and some fresh milk to wash it down, he’d speak again. “You’re the first person to come out here and see little ol’ me, so I’m not sure! But I’m excited to meet someone else who feels strong! Coming all the way here made me like, wayyyyyy way weaker than I was at home, so I’ve been trying to get back on that grind, y’know? Gotta get myself back to a hundred. Maybe you know some training buddies or other good guys, since you mentioned that ‘task force’ thingy?” He would stop again for a mere second to down more milk, also setting a fresh bottle out for his new friend. “My dad joined a super special task force, and that’s how he met my mom. They worked together a long time and did a lot of really great stuff, like saved everything! So I wanna get super strong like them, and that’s why I left home and came here. Ummm…” he would pull out his tablet and pull up a photo of what appears to be a Saiyan or human, perhaps both given the blue eyes and tail, and a cute bright pink Majin girl, both wearing what appear to be super hero uniforms of some kind given the story he told. Ryuji would show it to him. “This is them. I wanna be just like them!”
After setting the pad back down he would pose another question before resuming eating to allow Buggy some room to talk. “So I guess my question was, uh, if you think you know some people that can help me get stronger again?” It was a very innocently asked question. Ryuji wondered what was going on inside his visitor’s head, but he knew better than to try and pry too much or anything. The gummy boy wasn’t really sure if he could trust just anyone who showed up on the shore to have lunch with him, but seeing him slice, stick the food and suck it dry was pretty ace, so he decided to look the other way on his judgment for a bit. Whether he’s from some government group or super army thing, he didn’t seem like he was out to do anything but learn, and Ryuji loved making new friends anyways!

"Making something from nothing? Interesting" ABAS said softly. If it was a few months earlier, he would have discounted the boy's claims as the product of an overactive imagination. However, he was no longer some sheltered lab-rat. Liari in particular had displayed the ability to transmute and create objects in a way that went wholly against the natural order. Maybe this 'Ryuji' could do the same?
ABAS mulled over the possibilities in his mind, absently drinking up the soup with his tail. "Thank you young Ryuji. Tell me, where DO you come from? Are you from some far off sector of space perhaps? I assume the forced inactivity was responsible for your weakness." He said, probing the strange boy's intentions. While Ryuji was growing more useful by the second, ABAS was still slightly wary of him.
It all depends on how much weaker this 'journey' has made him. If he is this strong out of practice, what will he become once he regains his former power? I doubt he would exceed my maximum output, but that also doesn't mean I shouldn't be cautious
ABAS cocked his head, looking at the photo Ryuji showed him and filing away his parents' faces for later reference. "Fine people I am sure." He said politely, giving Ryuji a slow nod. "Nevertheless, my superiors...enjoy their privacy. So I cannot take you to them. However, I would be happy to spar with you for a time if that is what you desire. Fighting with new acquaintances is always quite beneficial."

Ryuji would be finishing up a good portion of his meal and considering a second helping as he watched the weird man eat his soup and speak. He wasn’t distracted in the slightest, though it probably had seemed that way since he took great joy in eating even the simplest meal. He made sure to take a long swallow as he considered his options to reply with. Ryuji knew that he couldn’t lie, it really wasn’t his style, but he at least couldn’t tell him the whole truth. Questions about his origin were hardest to dodge. Hoping what he came up with would suffice, he cleared his throat with another drink before speaking. “Well, uhhh, I’m not really supposed to tell people about where I’m from, but I can tell you that I was born and raised on Earth, and I’ve been all over the place! Secret stuff and all that, kinda like what you said too.” He would look pretty non-plussed about it, as if the inability to talk about it more dissuaded him from enjoying it. As his guest finished his soup, Ryuji sliced another big piece of fish off and slapped it on his plate, along with more soup.
At the mention of a spar, Ryuji would perk up a bit. He could tell that Buggy here was strong, he could feel that from him though he might be suppressing his power. He was learned enough to know when someone looked like they were strong, and being a bio android type being as he seemed to be was a sign he had crazy power inside, and even though he seemed friendly enough, this could all be to choose him for a snack, he’d consider, looking at the tail for a moment. But it was taking risks and hanging with strong peeps that made you stronger, after all, so he wasn’t planning to turn him down. There was another thought on his mind though… “A nice training sesh sounds like it could really help me knock the dust off, I haven’t had to really fight anybody since I got here. You seem like you could be a good bit stronger than me too right now, so you might not find it to be super fun the first couple times around. But if you keep coming back then I’m sure I’ll show you some real progress!” He would give a cheeky thumbs up. He would withdraw it after a sec and look at the blue dude in front of him with monkey like curiosity. “I have a question though, if you don’t mind me asking. Do you eat all your food like that?” He would point at the tail. “Is it enjoyable? Like, do you get to taste it and feel all the good feels it gives you or does it just like, ‘give you sustenance’?” He would say the last bit in a deadpan droning scientist impression. “If you never sit back and really dig in and enjoy it, you can’t get all the good stuff from the food to your soul!” Ryuji would begin to tear into the fish again with fervor, savoring in the juices and flaky texture of the meat. Questions like that were ones that really showed how people think and stuff, so bubblegum boy wanted to know if his new pal was living or simply existing. You can’t get super strong if you just exist, after all, he would think to himself as he listened for his response.

"Then let us spar Ryuji. Regardless of the condition of your fighting skills, I am sure there will be something to gain from the experience." ABAS said, getting to his feet and beginning the process of stretching out his body. Ryuji would hear crackles and pops from across the bio-android's body as various joints and ligaments released their built-up tension. "This level of restraint, combined with my weights will ensure you are not taken out in a single punch. It will not be a good learning experience for either of us if you fall so easily." He advised.
However, Ryuji did not seem at all prepared for such a confrontation. The boy even asked him some questions about how method of caloric intake! ABAS shook his head, "I consume all of my biomass like that yes. It is more efficient and allows me to strip the necessary energy in as short a time as possible. My body can break down most earth-borne compounds far more efficiently than a standard's metabolism. As such, I do not possess the need to taste things to determine their fitness for consumption." He explained. He eyed the boy's half-finished fish. "Would you prefer to spar now, or later? If you require energy in order to fight me, I can wait for a time."

As his new compadre had been speaking, readying himself as he explained the state of his power and restraints, Ryuji could tell that he was probably being a bit too friendly too soon. Not that he felt threatened in any real way, but more so that he could read this guy pretty well so far. Big ol’ Buggy here seemed like the kinda guy that’s made to act more than think about stuff all simple like, he’d be quietly thinking and, perhaps his friend would notice, despite tearing the fish apart in record time his eyes wouldn’t fail to hold his gaze. In fact, Ryuji likely hadn’t blinked during the majority of their conversation, only seeming to take his eyes off him in sparse moments. It was true, he was worn out a bit from all the workouts he’d been doing recently, but this was all he needed to be able to bring himself to bear. It was barely a moment after his speaking had stopped that Ryuji finished decimating his food.
Feeling stuffed to the brim and likely looking a little swollen, he’d toss his dishes onto the ground not far from the fire. Stretching with a near audible and strange snapping sound, like taffy tearing, the pinkish little monkey boy would roll backwards and onto his feet, his belly bouncing ever so slightly as he did so. Holding his finger up in a ‘not so fast’ kinda way, he spoke with a slight yawn. “Nah, I’m good to go. Gimme around a count of ten or so and I’ll have all the energy I need.” He’d stretch one more time, his limbs cartoonishly going beyond what his small frame would suggest. His head would lull slightly as he tilted forward, and his eyes would shut finally, as what would appear to be sleep would overtake the young boy. He would snore softly to a near ten count, as his body would rock softly in the breeze. His stomach would growl loudly and shrink as his body took in what it needed, and his power would steadily rise to its peak before he would snap awake with another big yawn. His eyes would be wide awake and there would be no trace of fatigue on his features, nothing but an excited grin. “We can’t do it right here though, we’d tooooootally spook the cows. Follow me over here, Buggy!” Assuming that this spar was what his company was likely after, a test of how he measured up would be better done away from important stuff. And volcanoes. That sounded like a bad idea too. Ryuji would fly quickly towards a more desolate island, a larger sandbar with thick and grainy sand that would make an excellent combat field by comparison. Without a lot of animals and foliage in the way, he’d feel a lot better about it.
Never the one to act first, he would strike a pose, bringing his left arm up in front of his chest in a mild salute, his right out to the side in a sharp gesture of gratitude, before snapping into his fighting pose. His face would be relaxed and earnest, his stance mostly orthodox, with the left hand leading and slightly open in a clawed fashion, his right tucked against his side comfortably and in a loose fist. His aura would finally erupt from his body as he would actually power to his current height, still noting the discernible difference in strength between the two of them. “I’m ready when you are, big guy! I hope I can keep up!”
