For three days she’d committed to staying in the supposed ‘haunted’ forest that local legend had deemed a level of danger that was on par to natural disaster. People went in for whatever reason they saw fit - a shortcut, to ignorantly avoid danger or even people sent in to recover the lost bodies - but the percentage of chance that they ever returned was… in decline. The tip Zerori had received was akin to a bounty on a board that frayed away from the lack of interest. Either that or everyone but her possessed a sense of self-preservation. Still - how could she turn away the offer of zeni in exchange for a hunt? It felt like a no-brainer to her. So, in the deeper and darker recesses of the Mount Paozu region, Zerori found herself walking the semi-worn path of what she assumed was a trail most of the victims took. From the grimace of her face, it was easy to tell that she really… REALLY wasn’t vibing with the feeling she got here.
She did her best not to let it show and made quick work of most that ever found out… but Zerori was terrified of most all things supernatural. Her being anything different than a Saiyan aside, it was the idea that things that had been killed, erased from existence with the intent for them to NEVER come back, could potentially still not only exist to haunt you but also still hurt you. Things that died should stay dead and Zerori swore by that.
With the literal paper in hand, rolled up and held tightly within her fist, Zerori stomped through the forest like a woman on a mission - nevermind the sweat pouring down her face like a waterfall. She was a Saiyan woman and a powerful one at that; hell would freeze over before she allowed spooks and the threat of a haunting keep her from collecting a paycheck.
Leaves and sticks crunched underfoot, the loudest sound in the area that could be heard in the background ambiance of various native wildlife. The trees that blanketed the Paozu region were famous and long-standing - easily towering over and shadowing anything near them. But here, within this forest-? It was like she was in a completely different world. Their shapes varied to such a degree that one could scarcely call some of them trees as much as they were winding, reaching and gnarled effigies of their neighbors. “Ffffffuck, I hate this place,” Zerori hissed, a slight tremor in her shoulders as the sudden yipp of something in the distance had her jump. “FuckyouFuckyouFuckyou,” She muttered, hurrying her pace and stuffing the paper back into the safety of her armor.
While she wasn’t sure what she was looking for, her plan was to basically be considered a victim by whatever was in this forest and (with any luck) get first dibs on beating the ever loving shit out of it. It was likely an entire hour into her walk, which appeared more like a bris jog, when Zerori realized that she just wasn’t attracting enough trouble. Funny how that never used to be a problem before! She thought with an amused scoff, stopping in her tracks before looking around.
She needed to change her tactics. If her natural ‘Animal Magnetism’ wasn’t enough to get attacked then she’d have to go with the next best thing:
Wanton destruction.
Zerori cracked her neck a couple times, hyped that she actually had a viable (and enjoyable) plan in mind. With a final look around at the trees that she was going to absolutely obliterate, Zerori leapt into the air and gnashed her teeth in concentration. From her back, a place she didn’t usually summon them from, dark red and black energy would bubble to the surface before the shape of her Shadow Claws would sprout from her back and forward. She was, in a manner, experimenting, and knew it wouldn’t last very long. “Tch, C’MON!” With a yell, she’d use her own arms as a guide for what she the claws to do and watched in satisfaction as they followed the arc of her swing and cleaved clean through one of the monstrous trees.
In it’s wake, dark energy hissed and sizzled where she cleaved at it before it fell and took many other smaller trees with it - crashing into the ground below. From on high, Zerori could hear the scatter and cries of the animals below and, panting, felt a little bad for what she did. Only a little, however, because not far behind from the echo of destruction was the thunderous roar of something that most certainly didn’t like what she’d done.
She grinned with feral delight, even as the vectors from her back dissipated into nothing, “Let’s fucking go, motherfucker…” From the darkness of the forest thunderous vibrations could be heard and felt as the beast she’d been hoping to find would amble it’s way into view. What she expected to see was a beast of terrifying proportions from the sound of it’s approach and while she wasn’t wrong in it’s size… the colors were not what she expected. Instead of greens and browns that would work well to camouflage it, the sudden stark contrast of a nearly rainbow-esque spread upon it’s scales would have the Saiyan woman blink and tilt her head in confusion.
What the actual fuck are you? It looked like a dragon but without wings and in it’s myriad of colorful scales, she could see that it was actually very slender - weaving between the trees with hardly any effort at all. She didn’t have much longer to observe it, however, as it’s maw opened once more upon seeing her and released another terrifying roar that echoed through the forest. That was all the reminder Zerori needed before she shook her head and pulled back into a pose whilst still remaining in the air. She wasn’t going to give him… or her… the advantage of the high ground.
“Not what I expected but WHO CARES! You’re my money and I’m not leaving here without the pretty little head on your shoulders!” She declared.

It wasn't necessarily and usual day for Athren as he had spent most of it training along side his boy in preparations for what was to come, the training session had primarily focused on him instead of Celric this time around though Athren made sure to provide Celric with a few powerful lessons in combat. As a father of two and a provider for many, Athren really needed to do his best to put his efforts in every front that was before him and he simply couldn't afford to not water the grass anywhere. He was the strongest of his group and by the power of his planning and his mind, he had found himself to be the leadership role.
By the time his evening was going to take a massive change in it's pace, Athren had been around an early evening campfire where plenty of the members of his crew had been enjoying their time together, talking, singing, dancing and of course consuming some alcoholic beverages. It was their time to relax and reflect on everything going on in their lives, it was the time they could just be themselves and enjoy the moment and each other without the worry of work and duty. They had all played a role to provide for each other and no matter how big or small that role was, they were all necessary to the cause and every one of them was important.
Though over their laughter and louder than normal activities all their attention had been brought to one direction. They heard the loud roars of a beast out in the distance. Most grew quiet to listen, they wanted to know just how close whatever it was had been to them, they wanted to know if there was any danger that could make their way to them. Of course, even with fighters in place it was a little nerve racking to those who weren't combat roles in the faction and they were some of the more fearful members.
Even though he was just relaxing, Athren had found himself sitting on a large log bench with his heavy weighted training gear on, he really never took it off. His ocean blue eyes had scanned his peered and the worry on some of their faces and forced him to take action. He slowly rose to his feet and tossed his bottle behind him. "You guys keep up the party and don't worry about a single thing, Alright? I'll go take care of it and I'll be back in a flash." He couldn't help but give a reassuring smile to those who had heard him.
Whether or not whatever had been causing the loud roars had been a threat to them, Athren felt as it was his duty just to make them feel safe. So even if he had to silence a beast that had been harmless, he'd do it. He felt it was part of being a leader of a community. "If the kids come out of the ship just make sure they stay put, we don't need them running off." With that being said Athren slowly lifted up off the ground and flew in the direction of the sound.
With his power level suppressed he had neared the area as he followed the sounds of the creature, he didn't know what he'd be in for but he couldn't help but pick up a familiar power level now that he wasn't just focused on those around him. He didn't assume that Zerori had gotten herself in trouble but he did assume that her and the loud roars were connected.
As he drew even closer he finally managed to get a glimpse through the trees. He could see Zerori standing her ground against something that had been a slender and color beast weaving and bobbing it's way through the woodlands. Though he couldn't identify it, it was a safe bet that it was the creature responsible. What did catch Athren by surprise though, was that it had appeared to be the aggressor in the situation while Zerori had been the one on the back foot. He had been there to catch her last words. It turns out she was the one hunting this beast.
Even though he assumed she could handle this thing on her own, he was already here and figured maybe he could give her a helping hand, he knew there was a chance that she'd be against it given her saiyan blood and all but what the hell, when did he ever listen to somebody else when it came to this kind of thing? Though for a brief moment before he dropped from the sky, his eyes just gazed upon her. She was something else.
Finally Athren had positioned himself perfectly to drop beside her and that's exactly what he did, he hovered and he immediately took his own fighting stance in a back to back formation with the woman. He had felt his heart starting to race and his adrenaline starting to rush. Whether or not the beast would be a challenge for one of them really wasn't the question, if it had been a challenge for both, he'd be rather surprised.
"I've got to admit, I didn't expect you to be behind all this noise but at the same time. I'm not really surprised." He gave a little chuckle as he prepared himself for what was to come. If they were going to do this together, maybe with some luck they'd find a good pattern and be a good pair and fit together naturally. It would just make things so much easier for the two, one too many times he had found himself with a partner that would just get in his way. "Shall we try to make this quick or.. are you going to give me the whole, I've got this speech?" He asked as the beast drew even closer to them. It was just about go time.

Low hisses and growls echoed around her as she faced the beast while in the air without fear, ready for anything as she retained her position. With strength alone, Zerori cracked her knuckles by clenching her hand into a fist. Just as she was ready to go on the offensive, the sound of someone landing nearby caught her attention, prompting her to look away for a moment to see who had arrived. There, floating beside her in the fray of an impending battle (or slaughter, depending on how this was to go) was Athren - a snarky comment thrown her way that had Zerori snort. He wasn’t wrong. “I wouldn’t say I’m consistent in the least but of that - you can call me pretty fuckin' predictable,” She turned her attention back to the beast, noticing that it was lowering itself into a defensive position now that there were two of them. Oh? Got a sense of intelligence, do you? She noted with interest.
Without landing, Zerori spoke to Athren while still staring at the beast, “By all means, but I’m considering this an act of generosity!” She laughed, glancing back at Athren. “The bounty belongs to me since I found it first.” She would have said more, always up to tease a fellow Saiyan, if not for the sudden rise in temperature around them.
Her head snapped back, watching the beast begin to gather some form of energy within it’s mouth to such a degree that the area around them had begun to steam from it’s power. Her eyes widened, her tail frizzing up in response to something big that was about to go down, “Here we GO!” She yelled, rushing at the beast with an arm pulled back. Gathering energy around her fist, a collection of dark red lighting could be seen snapping and crackling around her arm before she swung it forward right into the beast’s mouth. While not exactly the smartest thing to do, Zerori’s working plan was to basically make the drake eat it’s own power before it could release it and caught more problems.
Alas even as her fist struck against the drake’s head, snapping it to the side, the energy it had gathered was not forced back into it’s belly and had instead been released and launched not far from them to the side.
The moment the colorful blast of energy made contact with the ground and the vegetation in it’s wake - it was like watching things get vaporized on the spot without even the debris of dust being left behind. Whatever the power that thing possessed, Zerori knew she had to be careful. She landed on a rather large branch that was easily able to take her weight before calling out to Athren, “HEY! Don’t get hit by whatever the fuck comes out of it’s mouth. We might be tough, but something tells me that shit’ll eat us up and won’t even bother to spit us out!” It was annoying and it left her with little options but she’d have to figure out the best way to kill this thing from afar.
Her vectors came to mind but given how that went mere moments before… it was unlikely she could pull it off for very long. Looking between Still - something was better than nothing!
Zerori took a breath in, reaching deep within her to try and gather the rage necessary to create the vectors. Instead of sprouting from her back this time, however, the dark red and black energy boiled from beneath the skin of her arms and covered them in a translucent energy that would then coalesce into the claws she was so fond of. Already, however, she was panting from the overexertion. It’s getting easier, at least! She noted with some optimism before she pulled her arms back and threw her head up to the sky with a battle cry of her own before she sprinted at the drake - stomping carelessly on anything she passed - and raked a powerful and ravenous slash across it’s side with the intent to try and bleed the beast.
She’d manage at least threw swings before the dark power faded from her arms and immediately forced Zerori to deal with the recoil of her offensive as her legs stuttered where she stood at the drake’s aft. She eyed the tail warily, arms feeling like jelly as she hoped the feeling would return to them rather soon!

He couldn't help but give a faint little chuckle over her words, it entertained him slightly. Of course he could understand, it wasn't like he hadn't gotten himself into similar situations countless times over jobs, wrong place wrong time or simply his own attitude. He wasn't going to be one to tease her much on the subject.
Though what she had said next had forced a quick shrug from his shoulders, he really didn't care for the bounty nor did he know about it before he even showed up. "Generosity it is." His ocean blues had stayed focused on the beast at this point. "I'll just be happy to shut it up, It's got some of my people a little shaken to the core." That's all he really cared about here, it wasn't about a material reward or money, he just wanted his people to be and feel safe. If both of them would meet their ends working together, it all just worked so much better. "Bounties yours." He replied before things were about to shift into gear.
With Zerori making the first move Athren had followed closely behind her, he was going to let her take point and try to work off of her moves. He knew damn well that if they both tried to take point it just wouldn't work out so well and they'd most likely just get in the way of each other. After her fist had forced the beast to cock its head to the side Athren had quickly dropped below to the ground and jumped up, forcing his fist into it's jaw and pushing it's head upwards. Just before his fist had collided with it, the create had unleashed it's blast from it's mouth and led the trail airborne with it's new head movements.
After he made contact he had rolled backwards into a flip before his feet gently touched the ground below and to be on the safe side he flipped back two more times, just to add a little more distance and reaction time into the mix. "Well that goes against my usual plan!" He exclaimed, "I usually just like to get hit by everything!" He exclaimed in a smart ass sense of tone, he was aware she was just trying to help but he did find it oddly amusing that she thought he'd let himself get hit by anything.
He wasn't a novice fighter, he wouldn't take hits unless it was to lead an opponent into a false sense of security. That was only when stakes were high and he could absolutely dominate his opponent. Before Zerori had made her next move Athren had dashed to his right and followed up his initial attack with three Ki blasts aimed for the beasts head. The first two had collided and the third one had missed. A cloud of smoke had came from the initial impact but once the beast was revealed again, it didn't really appear that it had taken any sort of damage at all. "What the hell is this thing anyway? Anything else on this damned planet would already be dead." He mumbled aloud as he kept moving.
While Athren had kept his movements up he observed Zerori pulling off one of her techniques, she had attacked the beast with energy claws and made a solid swipe against it, though it had made some contact the damage had still seemed pretty minimal from Athren's view, and he couldn't help but notice that once again she had put herself into a strained state. Given she was at the creatures rear, he felt it best to keep all the focus on him at this point to give her a moment or two to get herself together.
"C'mon asshole!" Athren exclaimed as his right fist glowed of orange aura as he placed himself in front of it and got it's entire attention for the time being. In a swift movement he had appeared right in front of it and forced his Nova Punch into it's midsection. The beast let out a roar though whether it was pain, or anger wouldn't be known to the saiyan. He put a few more swift fists into it before it lunged down to snap at him with it's large teeth. With a quick skip to the left, he avoided the first bite attempt, a quick skip to the right and he avoided the second. The best had then feinted another bite to force Athren to take another skip to the left but it rapidly spun itself around and crashed it's tail into the saiyan, flinging him through the woods and crashing through a handful of trees in an instant.

Zerori looked on, claws flexing periodically as she noticed Athren create his own attack that would settle above his palm before grabbing the beast’s attention. Was that how they were going to play it, then? She’d play hardball and he’d be the tank? Well, she wasn’t going to complain, especially since this technique drained the SHIT out of her. Quickly catching her breath, Zerori used the moment that Athren was dodging the beasts chomping maw to get a little distance before she pulled one of her arms back. As the beast knocked Athren away on the third attempt, however, Zerori’s eyes would widen - her guard dropping suddenly as she watched him get thrown through the forest trees at a breakneck speed. “Shit-!”
The tail that had swung into him had come around, almost too fast for Zerori to keep sight of it. Still, even if she couldn’t see it, that wouldn’t stop her from preparing for the inevitable. Tensing every muscle in her body, Zerori changed stance and held both of her arms to her right side. With barely a fraction of a second to spare, the tail slammed into her side with her arms taking the brunt of the force. With a pained groan, Zerori forced herself to remain in stance, even as the momentum of the tail being caught and held onto had her sliding along the ground. Thankfully, she’d come to a stop with the beast turning around to see just what had the audacity to grapple it’s body.
With spite as her motivation, Zerori’s crystalline blues would flare brightly as they changed into a deceptively bright red, “You like causing a fuckin’ MESS?! Well, SO-!” Like a rocket, her power would suddenly spike, “-DO-!” With twice the strength she had before and quintuple the amount of shits didn’t think she had left to give, Zerori would swing the beast with all she had as she roared, “-I!”
With the force of a small tornado, the beast would find its tail nearly ripped off as the demonic woman swung and swung and SWUNG until finally - she’d released it with a groan and let momentum and gravity do the rest for her. She panted under the pressure as it crashed into various trees, rocks and dirt, unable and unwilling to care where it went after that as she tried to hold onto the anger that had brought out her power. If she could just hold onto it and remember... remember what it felt like later on, she could use it again without the need for manufactured emotion. Well, her emotions weren't necessarily 'fake' as much as they were a crutch for her to fall back on since being angry wasn't the hard part.
She looked around, scanning the area for Athren, "Heeyyyy! Sound off if you're not dead!"

His body had crashed through multiple trees before it skipped off the ground a couple of times and slid to a stop, he surely would've liked to stick the landing better but it was far too late for that. A light grunt escaped his lips as he got up to his feet. Once fully standing he tilted his head and let his neck crack. He had to admit that the beast was rather powerful, the amount of power it could put out was rather impressive and actually cause some damage to him.
He really didn't have time to react before he felt a massive shift in Zerori's power, she too was displaying a massive display in power and he couldn't help but just watch her as she began an assault on the beast and it wasn't before long that it sent out a painful cry and went crashing into the environment around them. The more he saw the woman before him, the more and more he saw they were alike. Though it appeared that she didn't quite have a handle on it yet.
A slight chuckle left his lips when he heard her call out to him but it was in that moment that the beast rose and crept up behind her slowly, it was now wounded and hunting slowly, like a tiger sneaking up behind it's prey. It stretched out and crept behind her as it was ready to strike in an attempt to feast on her. "No." He muttered.
He didn't doubt that she'd be fine on her own but something had come over him, his power level had doubled just as hers did as his purple aura flared up around him. It was at this point he launched himself towards her, his attention was all on her. Sure, he could've hit the creature off its course, hell, he could have even let everything run its course and let her handle herself but he chose a very different path.
He flew into her and pick her up in a cradle carry to move her out of the way of the beast's bite. "It'll take more than that to put me down." He gave her a reassuring smirk as he glared into her eyes as he went to put her back down on her feet.
The beast had then redirected itself towards them again, preparing for another attack. Athren only had one question in mind. "You got some sort of a special move in your arsenal? I think the best way to put this thing down is together." He had then turned his head to glare at the approaching beast, it was time to prepare to put this thing down for good. Athren had firmly believed with a little communication and teamwork they'd pull it off rather quickly but if they wanted to do it cleanly they'd have to be on the same page and put their powers together. All they'd have to do is stay alive a little longer while they figured out their best move.

While she might have been strong and more than able to hold her own on raw strength alone, the more she was pushing herself and her ability the more winded she was getting. And sloppy. Point in case was the seconds that ticked by, her sense of time completely warped as the world around her threatened to shift on it’s axis after having called out to Athren. Just as she was certain the ground was going to get a very intimate look at the side of her face, Zerori felt the world lurch in a very different direction and gave a loud grunt as she was quite literally swept off her feet.
Rapidly blinking to get her bearings back, Zerori stared up at the face of Athren as he gave her a smirk - his aura taking on a completely different color and feel than what she’d ever seen before. Was this a cameo of his demonic power? Without realizing it, her face had bloomed a dark color that nearly matched the ruby shine of her eyes that changed with her power. One snappy comeback later and Zerori was back to her own sassy self - even as she was placed back on her feet, “Good to know,” She muttered with a dismissive wave of her hand, looking back at the beast as it became clear to her that Athren had saved her hide at a rather opportune moment. Even if it was VERY embarrassing, Zerori wasn’t going to let it show as he suggested a plan of attack against the beast.
She’d slowed it down to a degree, watching it limp and roar at them in what looked more like an intimidating display as opposed to one that was a prelude to an attack. Time was an unknown factor so they had little room to predict what it would do; thankfully, Zerori had an idea in mind to help take this thing down. She rubbed at her face, willing any residual heat to simmer back down she wouldn't look like a teenager before accepting his idea, “Attack it together? Sure, I can do that.” She laughed, teasing Athren a little as she brought her right arm up and into a fist before holding her wrist in her left hand. “If this thing doesn’t have any resistance to a little shock then boom, what I got will hurt like a bitch. And you? Whatchu got under your sleeves?”
As if to give a taste of what she had in mind, a rhythmic pulse of dark energy would proceed to thrum like a heartbeat from her fist -a black and dark red aura blending into a nefarious amalgamation of energy before the crackle and pop of lighting began to flicker into existence. She didn’t need to gather it as slowly as she was doing, but the amount of times she’d used it could be counted on one hand. Not many survived a hit by her Phoenix Eraser and she was hoping that her streak was going to be broken today.
Waiting on Athren’s response and side of his plan, Zerori would glance back in the beast’s direction to see it stomping ever closer, even if it was a LOT more cautious than before. She felt a note of pride and satisfaction in bringing a sliver of fear to this creature, even if it was a result of her using a power she hadn’t intended on bringing out on this day. If anything, it proved that this beast was more of a danger to the area around them than she gave it credit for; given how much dangerous it was, however, that left room for Zerori to do some negotiating of terms once she brought back it’s stupid big skull.
That was for later, though - she had to actually get to the part where it was dead enough to take apart first. She had a feeling that once this mother fucker was dead, she could probably just give the rest of the body to him so he could feed his clan. He’d already made it clear he didn’t care for the bounty and given that he’d already… save her ass once today, that felt like an appropriate reward.
With a final roar, the draconian beast would decide to throw caution to the wind and charge at both of them, motivating Zerori to move back into a stance and at the ready, “Ready when you are, then!” She yelled, prepared to use the last of her power and agility to enact whatever plan Athren would have explained. Her red eyes twinkled in mirth and excitement, even as the constant threat of being ripping into pieces loomed around them like a miasma of impending doom and gloom.

Athren was rather relieved to have her safe in his arms, he was grateful that he was quick enough to prevent her from injury. It had felt like a brief moment of peace even with the monster still on their tail, the moment that his ocean blues glanced down into her eyes and her cheeks became a shade of red. He gave her a slight smile before her feet had touched the ground. As for the blush? He absolutely took notice and it might be something he'd tease her about later but for now he needed to keep his head in the game, he couldn't let himself idle down or relax, they still had some work to do.
Though he admired her in what he'd call a more vulnerable state, she snapped out of it really quickly and went back to her snappy, witty self. There really wasn't anything else left of value to add to their brief talk about him being hard to put down so he'd simply just let it fade away and move forward with his plan. That she had seemed attentive too. At this point his eyes remain locked on the creature, his focused narrowed in on it, finishing it was the goal.
Though his plan wasn't a complicated one, she willingly agreed to it. His eyes glanced over at her as she started to prepare an attack. "Well.." He trailed off for a moment, his arsenal rather limited at the moment. It was something he'd need to work on for any situation but for now his choice was really simple, a really strong ki blast or a really strong punch. This wasn't something he'd say aloud but it was simply the truth. Athren's right fist had clenched tightly as his aura began to surround it, he was about to put everything he got into this move and along with his demonic abilities and the combined powers of Zerori, he could only hope it would be enough to put this thing down permanently.
Athren couldn't help but snicker, if they had known each other for longer devising a plan would have been easier but he didn't know the extent of her abilities or how they worked, even the technique that she was preparing, he couldn't be for certain whether or not it was a close range or distanced attack, though he leaned towards a physical blow. "I'm thinking we keep it simple, hit it at the same time in the same area with everything we've got, surely it won't be able to tank all of that." He arched his brow as he glanced at her quickly, his eyes rapidly shifting back to the creature.
It wasn't hit brightest or best plan but hell, in a pinch it might be just enough to get them through this. It'd have too, Athren intended on putting everything he had into this and maintaining a fight after that would prove to be difficult. This would have to be a one and done type situation for it to go his way, otherwise he'd put himself in harms way but he supposed that was just the risk of these situations.
Athren took a stance at the same time Zerori did, his heart racing with excitement as the beast decided to charge at both of them yet again. Upon her yelling that she was ready Athren replied, "Let's finish it!" sprung off the ground with his right foot and began to fly at the beast with everything he had, his right fist glowing and cocked back. Whether or not Zerori was next to him was going to be irrelevant, at this point he was dedicated and made his decision. Hopefully she'd be right there next to him to finish it off though.
As the beast and Athren had rushed towards each other, the beast had been preparing his own attack too but Athren wanted to ensure that the pair had an opening. In a quick decisive movement of his left hand he sprung it up and fired a ki blast at the rushing opponents head, the blast collided but it didn't do any damage at all but what it did was provide them an opening. The beast's heads jolted back and it's eyes were forced to look at the skies, it was at this point that Athren exclaimed. "Now's our chance!"

With the battle for this beast’s head seeming to come to a close, Zerori followed quickly after Athren as he launched forward to meet the draconic beast head-on. Whereas he seemed to nearly glide across the battlefield, Zerori’s own rush would consist of her heavily slamming her legs into the ground - crushing everything in her way as she sprinted with abandon. Briefly, she caught Athren throwing a blast at the creature and cocked an eyebrow at how weak it was, only to realize his tactic less than a second later and grin with feral delight, Cocky AND smart! I like him more and more every time! The crackle around her fist seemed to intensify as she grew closer and closer, held to her side as if she was getting ready to wind it up for even more impact.
Dead ahead, eyeing the bony chest where she was sure the beast’s heart resided, Zerori would leap into the air in nearly perfect synchrony with Athren. For a moment in time, everything seemed to stop for her. The trees didn’t sway in the wake of their power, nor did the earth-shaking stomp of the foe that Athren and her were seconds from finishing off. Her body felt as if it were suspended in the brink of space and time… until it finally came crashing back - almost as if in fast forward.
“DIE!” She roared, arm swinging forward toward the beast’s chest where it would not only impact against it and tear into its flesh but sink within as if she were a hot knife being stabbed through a tub of warm butter.
The wild crackle and pop of electricity that followed was like music as it burned, sizzled and cooked the beast from the inside out. The screech and warble of their foe - now victim - echoed like a horror movie. The sound carried for nearly an entire minute even as the beast was most assuredly dead by both of their collective might and power, its body crumbling to the dirt and rocks below before it fell silent and still for (hopefully) the last time. It took only a handful more seconds before whatever breath the beast had left was soon followed by a rumbling death rattle.
Back on the ground, arm held at her side as it gave only few and far between residual sparks of energy, Zerori could be seen breathing rather heavily before bringing her other hand up to hold her arm protectively. She could count the amount of times she’d used that technique and, though she fared better than before, it still gave her a nasty case of recoil with every use. Ignoring the intermittent feeling of cramps surging up and down her arm, Zerori turned to look at Athren with a strained but victorious smile on her face.
Like a river that calmed after the night of a terrible storm, Zerori's power would gradually fall back to it's normal state. The demonic force of her rage culled back to a fatigued but satisfied thrum. Like a day of intense stretching that left her sore but limber enough to feel like she could take on anything. Her wild red eyes had reverted back to their cool blues; the only visual sign of her power having changed at all during their fight.
“Well, that was easy,” She teased, hoping the irony of the joke didn’t elude him before she looked back at the beast and cocked her head at its corpse, “Honestly, I’m a little surprised that it took people of our strength to take it down at all…” Her voice trailed off, smile falling as she tried to think critically the last time she’d heard of such a powerful animal on Earth. Was it some primordial creature that was provoked from a long slumber, effectively being unheard of by humans for generations? Or perhaps… There was something else at play here that was more intentional.
Sighing through her nose, Zerori could only shrug at the theoretical before removing her hand from her arm and approaching, “Well, I’m taking my prize. You can have the rest if you want,” She offered to Athren before bringing a hand up and using her magic to attempt materializing a blade to cut away at the neck. When nothing came out, Zerori would look at her hand as if it grew multiple more fingers before giving a sound of disgust. Why did this have to happen EVERY time she had to use some amount of magic? First it was back when she'd first met Athren and now again. Thankfully, the battle was over this time so the recoil wouldn't hinder her beyond being a nuisance. “Of course… drained again.”
Guess she’d just rip the damn thing’s head off with the bare fucking hands.
She put her hands together, turning back to Athren as she rubbed them together with what looked like nefarious intent, "You can either look away or help me take this thing's head off; I don't mind, either way," When she separated them again, Zerori would take one of the horns in one hand and then the other horn in the remaining hand before she began to pull. Harder and harder, enjoying the slow ease of the skin, tendons and bone echoing through the forest around them as she ripped the head from it's shoulders like she was pulling apart a collection of garlic knots. With one last tug, blood pouring from the new holes in his neck that ripped open, the head snapped from the neck - sending Zerori stumbling a few steps back before she let the head fall to the ground with a loud THUNK!
"Phew!" She laughed, bringing her hand up to wipe at her forehead with her typical dramatics, "Y'know..." She snorted, "-I think pulling it's limbs off might have been easier than blasting or punching at this thing. Came off cleaner than I thought it would!"

The blunt impact of Athren's fist against the flesh of the beast was satisfying to say the least, that in combination with Zerori's attacks had cut right through the beasts chest with little to no effort. Though Athren hadn't stopped with just the collision of his fist, he simply ran through the beast and torn a large chunk out of it and opened up it's side with a large wound. Athren of course came to a sliding stop at the backside of the beast. Though they hadn't known each other long and their only instance of seeing each others fighting style was a simple yet playful spar, they had actually managed to get into sync and make a solid team. The attack succeeded just as it was planned and the two had made quite the pair to put the creature down for good.
It didn't take long for Athren to pivot around slowly to glance at the beast's body as it toppled to the hard ground with a thud. Athren's ocean blues glared at the beast for a short period of time before looking to Zerori, he had one hell of a smirk on his face. Maybe it was the win they just got or something else, but he couldn't help it. Though his smirk faded rather quickly when he saw her holding her arm protectively. He couldn't help but arch a brow and ask her in a mild tone of concern. "You okay?" He assumed that she was fine but he couldn't help but ask.
His purple aura had fallen and his own power level had faded away too, though he didn't find himself exhausted or strained. It was a form that he was quite used too. Though it was at this point that she made her comment in regards to the difficulty of taking the beast down and he couldn't help but chuckle a little bit, his feet making their approach to put him next to her. "Easy enough." He said with a shrug before poking fun at her. "You're just lucky I showed up when I did, otherwise you'd be the one laying on the ground lifeless." He said with a little playful wink. Though he believed she would have managed to kill the beast eventually on her own, he couldn't help but play around with his words a bit. After all, it was half the fun.
Though he didn't say it, he did agree with her. It was definitely a unique creature, one he hadn't come across before on the planet. Whether it was rare or not wasn't really a factor or concern anymore, the main thing was that it had been defeated and both of them got out of there okay. Though it's power did linger in Athren's thoughts regardless of the outcome of the battle. As she offered him the rest of the beast, Athren would simply walk up to it and rip off a chunk of it's hard and thick hide. Whether he'd use it not wouldn't be relevant, he just wanted a reminder of the day. "Eh, I don't really need anything from it. I will take a little reminder with me though." Though his eyes glared over at her as she had mentioned behind drained again. "You know my offer still stands, right?" It was at this point that he stopped and looked over at her genuinely. "I can take whatever you want to dish out and if it gets you using your..." Athren paused a moment to try and find the right fit for words to best suit her. "Abilities.. I think it might help you get a better grasp on them."
Whether or not she'd take him up on the offer was up to her, he wasn't going to try and pressure it or force it. He just genuinely wanted to see her get a handle on them. Last thing he'd want to find out is she got caught up in a fight and got hurt simply because she didn't have a handle on it yet. Though they were brought up in two very different worlds, Athren was brought up to prepare for everything and master every part of his body and mental state to overcome anything that was thrown at him and her? Well, he didn't know but maybe she had less of an interest and that was fine too.
He couldn't help but continue watching as she began making the effort to remove it's head, Athren couldn't help but give a light chuckle. "I think you'll manage without my help." He said with his ocean blue eyes simply observing her actions. She was rather ruthless and brutal at times. Sure the creature had been dead and she was simply harvesting parts from it, but it was something that stood out to him. He could only help but wonder if she was like that in a real fight, against a real opponent. It was definitely something that intrigued him further.
He continued to observe, watching as it's head collided with the ground. Chuckling at her theatrics. "Maybe we should've started with trying to rip it's head off? Next time, yeah?" He chuckled with a shrug of his shoulders. Though it was at this point that he felt the events would conclude shortly. He wouldn't say it out loud but he didn't exactly want it to end but at the same time he had a responsibility back at his camp. Surely, everybody was waiting on him to return. Especially now that the beasts roaring echoes weren't reaching the camp.
Though it wasn't something he'd normally do. Athren decided to shoot a shot. "Listen, if you're hungry we've got some food back at camp. Everybody's kind of drinking and sitting around some fires if you want to join." He couldn't help but shrug his shoulders once more. "Cress has been telling the entire camp about you, surely they'd like to meet you. If you're interested of course." This wasn't something he'd do normally. In fact, he would more often than not keep people away from his camp, he'd hide his secrets but in this case? He just couldn't help it.

Yeah, Athren really was starting to grow on her - especially when he had just as snappy comebacks as she did. With a little mocking expression on her face, “‘-otherwise you’d be laying lifeless on the ground’ - Fuck off,” She laughed dryly, shaking her head. While she normally didn’t tolerate people making fun of her, Zerori was more than capable of accepting it after a battle such as this one and Athren was… well, she couldn’t put her finger on it but she enjoyed the retaliation. For a moment, as she nursed the recoil pain with what she hoped was minimal expression, Athren seemed to note that she wasn’t doing so well and reminded her of his offer the last time they’d met. For a moment, Zerori just stared at him as she passively wracked her brain for recall before she gave a ‘OH’ and scoffed with a shrug.
He really was something else, “I got no doubt in your abilities, Athren, so… sure, fuck it. We’ll make it a date or something,” She smirked right back at him, unwilling to let the severity of her weakness ruin the moment of their victory.
With the head ready for transport, the only thing left was to give a call or just drop off the damn thing at the village where she’d picked up the bounty from. It likely wasn’t worth that much since the village wasn’t exactly up to modern standards but she’d make due. Still, it was probably a good idea to wash up or find some way to get her armor cleaned up. She looked over at him after he’d pitched his joke and made a dismissive gesture, “If there IS a next time, I’m aiming for it’s balls. Who knows - maybe drake or dragon balls are lucky or somethin’, yeah?” She was fairly certain they weren’t going to meet (or fight) a creature like this again but if in the very rare instance it had managed to lay some eggs somewhere… well, they’d be ready.
When she felt her arm had sufficiently recovered, Zerori had rolled the related shoulder a few times before reaching for the head and heaving it over her shoulder. That was when Athren had offered a brief respite with his camp. Caught off guard, Zerori’s expression would be one of surprise before her lips curled upward in smug satisfaction.
“Talkin’ about me, huh? I’m flattered, really, but I-”
GRRRRROOOWWWWLL!
A long pause of silence stretched between them, the result of Zerori’s own stomach being incredibly rude and interrupting her very polite attempt to decline. A moment later, her shoulders slumped in defeat as the apparent strain had not just drained her magic… but her stomach as well. With her free hand that didn’t hold the gored head over her shoulder, Zerori gestured for Athren to lead the way.
“I think my cat can live for a few hours longer,” She excused herself, walking toward Athren to follow him. ”So, what’s she been saying, eh? All good things, I hope. Oh, yeah, I’m gonna bring this thing with us!” Zerori suddenly decided, respecting that Athren didn’t really need the corpse for anything but if they could turn it into food then why the fuck not! Grasping the tail along the way, Zerori would absent-mindedly drag it behind her as she followed Athren.
As she did so, her mind would gradually try to process what she should expect with Athren’s clan. Sure, she’d been around her people when she was younger and it wasn’t like Saiyans didn’t exist on Earth; but she couldn’t help but think that the camp she was about to visit was going to feel like an entirely different sect. Were they just like the Saiyans back home or did they have differing beliefs? Something had to be different if they were here and not back home, right? Suspicion and caution was, unfortunately, a default state for Zerori’s mind to take as she fell into a slight lull of silence.
She had to relax, even if just for a little bit. Business could wait. Twilight could wait… like, maybe a day. At most. Honestly, her cat was probably her best excuse to not spend too much time at the campsite. Some food would do her some good and, if she REALLY had to rationalize it? This was the best chance she’d have to covertly and discreetly get a vibe on what his people were like. While she didn’t really give a shit if they were dangerous or just here to enjoy a nice vacation, Zerori had a penchant for getting territorial.
Cress wanted to see her again, too, and that was warming in a way. She never really felt like she connected well with kids; sure, she liked them so long as they weren’t bratty or distracting. Back in the city, she even made use of them by giving them tasks in exchange for a quick buck. It kept them fed and out of trouble and allowed her to use them for a good distraction while she partook in crimes. Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that this was just a little bit different.
There was only one way to find out if this was a good idea or not. It was worth the risk, anyway. Throughout the rest of their walk as Athren led her to camp, she’d enjoy the idle conversation and occasional japery - all the while pulling an oversized headless drake behind her!

Their dynamic was nothing he had ever experienced before, from the flawless coordination all the way to the jokes and banter, they had seemed to match almost every single beat. It was truly extraordinary and just something else, something that Athren could appreciate on a much deeper level than anything from his past. Whatever this woman had going on, she was just in a league of her own. At first her simple comment telling him to fuck off gave him a chuckle, though her next response did catch him a little off guard in regards to taking him up on his offer, he would always be willing but when the word 'date' had rolled off her tongue, his right eyebrow arched as curiously as ever, and his face kind of went blank for a moment. He couldn't help but think that she was playing with him but at the same time, he couldn't help but give a serious retort, a retort that had such a tone to display a small jump in his excitement levels. "I'll take you out on that date anytime, after all, we make quite the pair." Usually he could remain cool and calm and mysterious but at this point? He was out of his element.
Athren had listened to what sounded like a rejection of his offer but in the moment her stomach had growled louder than the beast they had just taken out, it was like it was on point at the perfect moment to change her mind and redirect her to an evening with him in a more friendly environment, not one where they'd be going up against some kind of creature or having a spar that was more like an intimate dance. When she had agreed, a genuine honest smile had crossed his face. It honestly had felt kind of weird, he didn't really smile about much, a smirk was more his thing but this? Well, it did it. He didn't know what he was getting himself into but the didn't care, he wanted to live in the moment and opportunities provided by the day. "You really think she's capable of saying anything bad about you? Your her hero. She wants to be so much like you that she even started training a little bit on her own. I mean it's cute and all, but it seems like you're everything she talks about."
At this point Athren started walking towards the camp, it wasn't too far. There had been many individuals there and a mix of races from throughout the universe. They'd be more than welcome to her. "Hell, even the other day SHE wanted to spar with her brother. She said she'd be you and he could be me." He shook his head lightly and gave a faint chuckle as he had to throw in one more playful comment. "Of course I won but.. I'll say it was pretty close if it makes you feel better." The banter continued all the way to the camp, where as Athren expected. Zerori was met with open arms and a welcoming vibe.
