"HAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" Liari roared, her aura EXPLODING across the inside of the ship, her energy ARCHING over the walls, across the floor, through the air, consuming and infesting all space it touched! Her signature BLARED through surrounding space and, perhaps, further beyond, arching through the void like an invisible radiowave, perking up the ears of all that might listen...
...And yet... Zamasu frowned bemusedly, crossing his arms and shaking his head.
"No. Simply gathering your current power does little other than give you access to what you already have. It takes precise control of your energy to accomplish true divine beauty. Though you are a mortal, I have seen your... sort trespass upon godly territory before. This should not be impossible for a mortal such as yourself."
"BAH! What does that even MEAN!?" Liari HUFFED, throwing up her arms in exasperation! "'Oh, I've seen all this before. You can do it!' But I don't even know WHAT I'm even DOING!" ...Liari's mouth then snapped shut and she recoiled reflexively. Zamasu had been quick to punish her impulsiveness whenever Liari lost her temper, slicing her to bits with that energy-hand-sword-thing of his. He was cold... unapologetic... but not unnecessarily cruel. He didn't exactly revel in making the majin suffer, just as a handler of an animal doesn't take pleasure in punishing bad behavior. It was a necessary action... and one that would be carried out.
...And yet, the inevitable cold-edge of Zamasu's blade wouldn't rend her flesh... immediately. Liari peeked a pensive eye over at the god who stared back, a cool knowing smile upon his lips.
"Very well. I can see that you require some... education with your instruction, mortal. Indeed, I find it somewhat... refreshing. You are not like that saiyan from all that time ago." Liari's ears perked up.
"S-Saiyan...?"
"Yes. He shared a handful of your mortal qualities: Impulsive, arrogant, believing everything was just one big fight to win..." Liari shivered. She could feel Zamasu's eyes peering through her like the glare of a panopticon. "...But unlike you, this saiyan had this sheer dumb innocence about him. It was his most... despicable quality. What he called 'training' was, in truth, an unauthorized excursion into powers FAR above anything mortal kind has any right to possess... Yet he 'befriended' and manipulated one of the lesser gods to teach him a technique much more versatile and effective than all others he possessed: The Kaioken."
"...Fist of the Lord of Worlds...?" Liari repeated, cocking her head. "...Why? I-I mean... what did it do...?"
"By precisely channeling one's ki, an individual can learn to double... triple... or even quadruple that which you are capable." Zamasu raised a finger. "In essence, in one explosive burst, you are able to multiply your power dozens of times. For an instant, your power enters another league." The god smiled wider with satisfaction, catching sight of Liari's shock. "...But there is a catch: Most mortal bodies can't handle the strain of such a sudden increase of power without transforming. If they are not careful, they might suddenly pop..." Zamasu opened his hands and wiggled his fingers, simulating an explosion and scattering debris. "...like a balloon. As you can see, only a god is responsible enough to use this power. The mortal that... Lord of Worlds taught almost killed himself every time he used it. ...But I have learned this power... and I will teach it to you, Liari. An instrument is but an extension of the god himself, after all, and a god's instruments must be able to complete the tasks assigned to it... Wouldn't you agree...?"
"I... um... Yes...?" Liari stammered, swept away by the sudden influx of information... and promises... Power... EVEN FOR A MOMENT... Power enough to lay waste to a saiyan of her own... Power... POWER...
"Yes, yes. 'Power.'" Zamasu sighed, having read the gleam of excitement in the majin's eye. "...Mortals and their fascination with their ability to do things... And what do they do...? Kill each other... Of what madness was Master Gowasu possessed by that he believed these creatures deserved to share the universe with us gods...?"
Liari's ears perked up again. First a mysterious saiyan that, seemingly, robbed the gods of one of their most sacred techniques... then someone Zamasu referred to as "master." Gowasu, was it...? Did gods even ANSWER to other beings? Weren't they supposed to be, like, the epitome of all things or something? Between the knowledge and backstory of this 'Kaioken' technique and the little tidbits of his past Zamasu was letting slip... Liari was quite interested. Bit-by-Bit she was learning that the universe was both a much larger... and much smaller place than she had expected... In scale, it was DRAMATICALLY larger than she could have ever hoped but, when it came to mysteries and magics of the people called "gods" and such... Liari was less than impressed with what she was presented with. Zamasu was POWERFUL, yes. Hell, his divine, quiet aura put Janemba's power to such shame, it was almost FUNNY. ...But he wasn't the abstract THING everyone on Earth would tell you a god is. He was just... like everyone else: A guy with a job... at least from what his mention of a "Master Gowasu" implied. He had superiors, people he answered to... or did at some point... If that was the case, Liari wondered, what made him so important, so above the rest of them that he was resolved to call her "mortal" rather than by name? What made GODS... gods...?
Luckily for the majin, Zamasu was ALL TOO wrapped up in his own thoughts to pay attention to hers. When he DID return to Earth, so to speak, he locked eyes with Liari again, sigh, and shake his head.
"Unfortunately, my version of the 'Kaioken' is not usable by those whom you mortals might consider 'heroic.' Those who would protect the status quo of mortals living, killing each other, and dying themselves, muddying this universe with their own, useless blood... would not be able to use my technique as such. It requires a heart of more... resolve, one willing to effect change on such a level that mortal morality is but a dying leaf to be brushed aside. You, Liari, must be willing to do what is necessary to save this universe from this mortal filth, willing enough, even, to erase those who might have once deemed you 'friend' in their limited perspective. Can you do this? Sacrifice your connections here... to birth a greater order?"
"Yes." Liari said quickly. Almost too quickly. Zamasu blinked. "Power is one thing... But I DO see your point. The universe is dying, tearing itself apart. Saiyans, Changelings, whatever Earth is and me? At least I can do something... give what I do meaning. Yes, I can do this."
"...Indeed? We will see..." Zamasu murmured, turning his back to the majin... "But all things considered, I believe we shall rename our technique to 'Makaioken.' Dark fist of the lord of worlds. It seems more... appropriate to strike fear into the hearts of mortals, hm?"
