Cooler's Casino.
Much like the many bars and other drinking related establishments, Cooler's Casino provided entertainment and a social space for other PTO soldiers to relax and interact with one another, whether it was through alcohol, being on break, or a simple get together. And much like other establishments in connection to recreation, it wasn't safe from any form of toxicity as it was bombarded with obnoxious grunts trying to prove themselves by antagonizing others or useless competitions. The casino was one of, if not the only biggest well known entertainment business on Frost. While it may appear to be more glamorous and luxurious compared to Diskord, a bar where legends drink and business amongst PTO members is very common, it was a location Daru had no interest in.
Today was different. Daru traveled to the casino alongside her Changeling companion, Arctic, for a better cause: finding one of Hocu's henchmen; two if the duo was lucky. Their prime and first minion to track down was Wasab, a short energetic PTO soldier whose heart belonged to the nightlife of gambling and taking a dance with risk and danger of losing his earning. It was more than likely that he would be here, let alone Daru was more than positive that her and Arctic will find him if they knew where to look. The specifics weren't detailed, but the overall area was more than enough to do a quick look around.
Who Daru would also hope to find would be Flim, someone who was known to lounge around the casino, but wasn't a frequent customer like Wasab. That creature's atmosphere was nothing but a mystery. She never knew anything else about his whereabouts other than the casino being a hotspot for him. Granted, the probability of finding him is small, yet there could be a small chance that they may run into him. She didn't hold her breath for what could be slim hope, but it'd result to killing two birds with one stone, making things slightly more convenient in their crusade to take down Hocu's henchmen.
"Wasab should be around here somewhere. I know around this time, he's usually lurking around the slot machines." Gambling and betting were things Daru never understood, hence why she rarely ever went to the casino, but she was no stranger to trying these activities out here and there to grasp how it worked and the entertainment behind it. While she was able to comprehend the concept, in the long run it wasn't something that Daru would perform on a daily basis.
The stench of cigar smoke and the strong scent of alcohol filled the area as Daru guided Arctic to the slot machine area, as expected. The drunkards swayed about while the veterans of gambling flashed their winnings and status of The constant ringing whenever someone hit a jackpot was apparent, the young demon's ears twitching from the loud sounds and trying to cope with it. It annoyed her and gave her another convincing reminder of why didn't visit the casino often.
But with luck on her side, she spotted a short bug-like creature pouncing around with a few strings of tickets and two full buckets full of coins with a big, goofy grin stapled on his face. His erratic nonsensical singing could be heard just meters away. "I'm king of the castle~ I'm king of the castle~" His tone was bright, cheery, most likely from gaining a lot of winnings for who knew how long. He skipped around the lobby, his hands swaying the buckets around in a gloating manner as if to show off how much he won. It was obnoxious, boisterous, and definitely someone that fit the description of who she and Arctic were looking for.
"There he is." Daru said to Arctic, her eyes on the other hand trained on the small soldier in a narrow shape. "Remember, we need to bait him out of the casino if we want to deal with him properly. Don't know what he'll have up his sleeve, but just follow my lead. I think I have an idea on how to handle him." There was a method to deal with someone like Wasab, but they needed to get past the initial phase of introduction. With a final sigh, she approached the small soldier.
"Impressive." Daru's tone was casual, almost as if she couldn't care less about his little achievements as she stuck one hand in her suit jacket's pocket; almost as if she could do better than him.
Wasab whipped his head around and spotted Daru and Arctic, his own eyes narrowed in suspicion while he eyed them down. His grin broke back onto his face when he flaunted his buckets of winnings towards the two. "I know, right?!" He responded, obviously trying to brush off the lack of enthusiasm the young demon lacked compared to him. "These bozos don't know the first thing about winning or even trying to play right, you know? They always crack under pressure... their walls slowly crumbling..." He lowered his voice to an overexaggerated tone of drama before it sprung back to life.
"THEN BOOM! I come in for the kill! And I have the proof to show how predictable this kids are!" Wasab laughed.
"So you'd say you're a pro at this." Daru stated.
Wasab nodded his head with excitement. "Damn right I am! No one can beat me! I don't need luck! Luck needs me!" He declared with triumph.
"In that case, let's put your so called 'skills' to the test. We'll play three games and if you win most of them, you can have our earnings. If we win, you bet all of your earnings on top of the ones you've already earned." Daru stated.
She watched as Wasab's grin grew larger by the second. It was clear that this was a bet that Wasab was not only going to enjoy hearing, but also something that he was more than confident in winning. "You and your spiky little BDSM dildo got yourself a deal!" He boasted. Of course, Daru forced herself to hold her tongue when he referred to Arctic in such a distasteful manner. "As a matter of fact, why don't we let him choose?" He switched his attention from Daru to Arctic with a mischievous giggle. "What's your pick? Black Jack? Roulette? Poker? Rummikub? Or are you just one of those filthy casuals that think they have what it takes?"
