A long morning of punching trees and climbing mountains had come to a hurdling stop as Kassava realized how hungry he was. Things had almost always come to this for him. He figured that, at some point, he oughta start gathering enough food to hold him over for more than one meal at a time. Food was scare enough as it was. He considered himself a great hunter, but you needed to be more than a great hunter to survive in Break Wasteland. Oftentimes he found himself the prey, rather than the predator. It didn't get to him, though. If anything, he loved it. It was how he was raised, and it kept his senses tight. It was a thrill, if anything. Kassava wondered if that was the same mindset that fighters approached fighting with. He had seldom ever been in a real fight with an actually strong fighter before. The thought of fighting a trained fighter didn't scare him at all, however. Nothing really did.
There he found himself, as he often did in the afternoon, fishing for food in a rather large lake. This time, however, he ditched the fishing rod all together, and went straight to tail-fishing. Many of the fish in Break Wasteland were carnivorous, and preferred a large helping of meat to any other bait. Kassava's tail wasn't much to boast about in that sense, but it worked better than a worm.
Kassava stood, crouched, with his back facing the water, and his tail submerged. His hat was tied around his neck. He was focused, his eyes closed, trying to sense for any energy that would approach his tail, or even him. At the same time, however, he was somewhat deep in thought. How was he going to get stronger? Where would he go first? How would he even begin to locate his father? These questions ran across his mind with mutual anxiousness and excitement.
Usually, he would be quick enough to spin around right on time, and wrestle any unsuspecting fish into its untimely demise. This time was different, however. He was distracted. By the time he felt the painful chomp onto his tail, it was far too late. "HEY! LET GO!" Kassava shrieked, as he tried to run. He immediately felt his entire body become weak, however, and he was dragged into the water, squeaking out a "Woah--" as it happened. It wasn't often that Kassava thought things through before doing them, but it also wasn't often that he suffered the consequences of doing just that. This was, clearly, one of those times.

Break Wasteland, it wasn't a common venturing point for Athren but he had been over it what seemed like a couple dozen times at least. As far as what the landscape had to offer it had been pretty bland, some large rock formations, some waterfront and greenery, it wasn't really much on the eyes and it didn't even speak to the soul. It really didn't compare to Athren's favorite spot on the Earth and that was Mount Paozu. Nothing compared to that for him, the heights, the rushing water and the sound of the falls themselves, for a brutal warrior, it was almost odd that he enjoyed those things but maybe it was exactly what he had needed for all those years.
Athren had been flying rather low as he flew rapidly across the surface of the Earth, his heavy weighted training gear was on and he was full of pre-workout mix as per usual. He had intended on going off somewhere new to train, somewhere exclusive. In all honesty he was thinking about heading further north but wanted to see his options first, maybe somewhere else would have caught his attention more so than the mountains.
Though as he was flying overhead he came to a sudden stop as he witnessed a young man, normally he would have continued on his path and not even given the boy a second look but the obvious tail was the exact thing that made him stop. The boy had obviously looked rather young and the way his tail was out and extended into the water had made it stick out like a sore thumb, one couldn't miss it. Athren of course couldn't help but wonder exactly what this kid was doing with his tail in the water like that. It was something he had never seen before, it was something he'd never expect to see ever again. With his curious mind getting the best of him, Athren had decided to simply observe for a few moments time to see what was actually happening.
It really didn't take that long before Athren figured it out and it didn't take all that long because all the evidence was provided for him in a matter of minutes. He could physically see the giant fish swimming towards the shoreline and towards the boys tail and Athren had a pretty solid guess to whether the boy managed to train the weak point from his tail. Athren watched as the fish took the bait and the boy froze up solid and like a horror movie dragged into the depths below.
Athren would stay hovering for a few seconds, his brain processing two very big thoughts. His usual would be that is wasn't his problem and the kid did it to himself but the second? Oh the second was perfect. If the boy didn't train his tail surely, he didn't learn to control the great ape either and that was something he could potentially use and exploit for the future. He couldn't help but think of the second option and decided to act very fast.
Quickly Athren had found himself submerged and blasting towards the large fish and the boy, with a quick jab from his right fist to the top of the large fishes head, he had killed it and with his left hand he gripped the boys tail, his right hand of course grabbed onto the large fishes mouth and he tossed it out of the water and let it crash onto the shoreline. Athren on the other hand slowly rose out of the water and hovered over the shore with the boys tail in his grip.
"You know for a saiyan, you're kind of disappointing."[/i] Athren had said rather sternly before tossing the boy down onto the ground and fully releasing his tail. "A member of the mighty warrior race almost killed by a large fish, on the saiyan homeworld, you'd have been a disgrace." Athren mentioned, informing the kid of what could have happened. He wasn't doing this just for the purpose of being mean but he did indeed have a game plan.
If he was hard on the kid and managed to show leadership, strength, and flaunt off his saiyan knowledge maybe the kid would seek answers and help. Though Athren really wasn't up for training somebody that wasn't his children long term, there was a potential benefit to training this boy short term. Teach him some of the basics, set himself up to be a trusted role model and then use the power of the boy to his own gain. Of course, he wouldn't let anybody know that.
Athren had made sure to make his dark grey tail visible to the boy to erase any doubts that Athren had been a member of the exact same race, he stood tall and proud and showed his strength in his posture and demeanor alone. "If I were you, I'd work out the kinks with my tail before trying to catch any more fish with it." Athren said, leaving the kid to speak whatever words would have come to his mind.
Athren expected questions, though he very well have been wrong and in this moment all he was hoping was that this boy wouldn't be annoying but rather calm. Though Athren would have patience in order to manipulate the kid, the easier the kid made it the better. He didn't need an older version of Cress or Celric in his life, he didn't need to take on that kind of responsibility but the potential downfalls that this kid could bring to the table, surely weren't going to be enough to cover over all the potential benefits this kid could bring. The simple truth was, maybe Athren had just found his way to complete his job without even showing his face to the public, maybe this kid would be the thing he needed to get this done cleanly while bringing no eyes to himself or his faction.
