Peace was indeed a very odd thing, it was something that Athren never really go to enjoy throughout his life. Growing up, he was always on missions or training and so focused on becoming stronger that the moments of peace that came to him had simply passed him by. He doesn't regret passing up these opportunities but now that he had actually taken some time to himself, laid around and created what he wanted too, he couldn't say that he didn't like this type of lifestyle. There was benefits to him that he never could have realized, he had a much calmer attitude, his mindset was more clear and he was much more relaxed and no longer on the edge of his seat at all times. He stopped looking over his shoulder every few seconds and simply enjoyed what was in front of him. The fear of what was creeping up behind him, well that no longer existed. Though the time of peace had managed to consume him, for it was nearly three months since he did any real productive training and it was truly time to get back to it. With Callion off the Planet, there wasn't really anybody in line to step up and defend it aside from himself. Though he didn't want this role, he would have no other choice but to take it. The lives of the innocent and his children may very well be dependent on him. The weight of the Earth could once against fall onto his shoulders and he needed to make sure he could rise up when that challenge presented itself.
He found himself at the highest point of the mountain that he called home, his house and village at the base of it on the opposite side. He was close enough that any trouble would easily be sensed and no possible distraction could get in his way. He picked the top to keep the people safe, keep attention away from the village and being the highest point, he could simply send his energy attacks into the stars without any kind of worry.
He was in his base form wearing his normal black and red attire, his saiyan armor was back at home and he was focused on what kind of technique he was going to make. Since seeing Callion's famous Kamehameha technique, Athren really liked the concept of that type of energy wave. It wasn't a thin beam for piecing, it wasn't a thrown energy ball like his Nova Cannon but instead, a solid stream of energy that was easy to manipulate and amplify and he wanted something like that for himself, though he wasn't going to straight up steal the Kamehameha, it would be the base of his inspiration for his own technique. His technique, would focus on accuracy over power but that was besides the point, the more power he put into it the more damage he'd get and that was crucial.
Athren would start by planting his feet firmly on the top of the mountain on a large plateau, it was the safest area he could find for this type of training. He brought his right hand down to his right side, with his fingers curled lightly and pointed downwards, he then followed up by bringing his left hand over and wrapping his fingers around his wrist to provide support and assist with the accuracy of the technique. Just because it was a wave technique, didn't mean he couldn't hit his mark. He would then begin to form a red ball of energy in his palm and by the second it was starting to get bigger and bigger. His mastery of his own energy made this so simply to produce, yet the technique would be much more than effective.
When the energy ball was big enough, Athren would thrust his right hand forward and rotate it to bring his fingers skyward. "Dark Nova Wave!" He exclaimed as he fired the powerful red wave of energy up into the sky above. The red beam traveled fast and as a test Athren would manipulate more and more energy into it, making it wider, thicker and much more powerful than when he originally launched it. After a few short seconds, he would let the energy vanish out of his sight and bring his hands back down to his sides. The technique had been learned and it was easy at that, though he did want to run it a few more times and amplify it's power to a much higher extent. With the amount of power he was capable of putting out, he needed to make sure he harnessed every ounce of it. After all, his opponents would be on the receiving end of this technique and he needed to make sure it would kill them.
Though, before he could get into repeating the technique he couldn't help but sense a power level approaching from what seemed to be the sky. His ocean blue eyes immediately locked onto the area the source was coming from but there wasn't a visual yet. He assumed this individual wasn't a threat but he wanted to be cautious with his village nearby. He couldn't let anybody that was a potential threat get to the place. He had already lost too much and didn't want to be held responsible for another slaughter.
While he waited, the only thing he could really do was hope that this individual wasn't there to cause trouble. Even though he was a saiyan warrior, he wasn't always looking for a fight. The Earth was changing him for the better and he really only wanted to fight if the stakes were high and the innocent were involved. With his promise to Pybara, he had to be better than he used to be and he wasn't going to back down on that promise and just because he started being a better person, doesn't mean that this promise was over with. There had still been a very long way to go.

PL: 56,585 Zeni: 991 Bonuses: 2X Event! - Double PL and Zeni SWC - 75% PL Boost
She had been gone for WAY TOO LONG! This thought repeated itself again and again in the Lycan Saiyan's mind. She had been in space to take some much needed R&R, especially with the events from South City still FIRMLY planted in her mind. Even still, she didn't expect to be gone for a full couple of months! This was horrifying! What if Earth was in danger!? What if people died!? What if the Z Fighters were disbanded!? What if A TON of bad things happened while Opherla was away!? These questions and more raced in her mind as her Saiyan Space Pod RUSHED down to Earth at incredible speeds, as Opherla knew she was still weak. But if she was lucky, she could land somewhere in which someone could train her.
Her pod took her to Mount Paozu, where the Z Fighters originally had gathered. Opherla remembered this spot well. Callion had gathered many people here to join the new Z Fighter crew. And Opherla knew from Tanya that Athren had his own spot here as well. Athren...! Athren, he could help! He was a good guy! At least, that's what Opherla gauged from their first meeting! Maybe he could help her! She made sure to steer her Space Pod a good distance from Athren's village. Best not to make a second bad impression, right?
Landing her space pod far off from anywhere near Athren's village, Opherla soon would rise up from it after landing, and dash over to Athren's location, as she smiled. How long had it been since she and Athren saw each other one on one? A few months or so? It felt like a year, after all, Opherla's birthday wasn't that long ago, since she was 18 now. She touched down onto the mountain after flying over to Athren, greeting him with a warm smile and wave.
"Heyyy, Athren! Long time no see." Opherla introduced with a smile and a laugh. "Uhm, so listen, this is uhh... a bit embarrassing to admit but... I kinda... slacked off, for a few months... and uh... I need to get caught back up on training. So I was wondering, mayyybe you could lend me a hand for a little bit? I'm a little bit desperate here." Opherla admitted with an embarrassed chuckle. It was hard to come outright and say she had been slacking off with some R&R, but it was the truth. It wasn't like Opherla was INTENTIONALLY taking this much time off, the time off just snuck up on her since, well, she didn't really check her phone or anything to know what day it was. It was only today she even realized she missed her birthday entirely. That wasn't the point. The point was she didn't know how bad of shape Earth was in right now, and so she needed to get back in shape. QUICKLY. Luckily, she had found Athren first to potentially help with that.

Athren would watch as a space pod would fly down from the stars and make impact with the Earth's surface not too far from the mountain, though luckily it wasn't anywhere close to his village. Though it was at this point that Athren focused and sensed out exactly who it was. Now that the initial concern was over, he could easily identify it as being Opherla. He could sense deep within that she had gotten stronger since the first time they met and that was always a good thing. She had seemed to be the type who wanted to do the right thing, though with the threat of Liari, she had found herself in a position Athren once had. She just didn't have the power to fight against her but that was going to change, Athren was going to be sure of it. With Callion off planet, the Earth needed fighters to take the reins. To guard the Earth with everything they had. Athren of course, wasn't part of the group Callion made for this purpose but he would lend a helping hand when it was required. He wasn't going to take to the battles unless he was needed, unless lives were at stake. It was time for a new group to rise up and defend their planet, to take point and lead the charge against anybody that could want to do them wrong. The Saiyan-Demon knew that Opherla was on the approach but he had a few short moment, between getting out of her pod and making her way up here, there was still time to fire off another one of his techniques. This time around, he was going to focus on charging up his Dark Nova Wave and evolving it further, he wanted it to reach perfection and the only way to do this was through practice and effort. He was going to increase the power outage and dub this variant, the Black Nova Wave. Though naming wasn't his strong suit, technique development and usage was. While he waited for Opherla to arrive, he once again brought his right hand down to his side with his fingers pointing downwards. His left hand wrapped around his wrist to provide more support to assist with the accuracy of the technique. Though he really didn't have a target, it was good to practice like you fought and he wasn't going to fumble on that simple step. He quickly began charging another energy wave technique and put more power into it this time around, he could already tell that it was much stronger and better than the one he shot before. Once it was ready, Athren would simply forced his hand forward and pivot it so his finger were upright. The dark red energy wave fired from his hand and once again went up and into the stars to avoid any damage to the surrounding environment. He held the wave for a few seconds, putting more energy into it to keep it going and it was at that point that he heard Opherla's voice. Quickly he ended the technique and turned his head to glance over at her, his right eyebrow arched as he gave a very faint smile. He listened to her little rant and he couldn't help but relate. She hadn't been the only one to be slacking off the last few months. Sure, Athren had kept himself busy and learned a couple of techniques that weren't combat related but he didn't focus on getting much stronger than he was formerly but then again, nobody could say that he didn't earn his time of peace.
With a simple nod of his head he'd finally greet Opherla. "Opherla." He paused for a moment and crossed his arms before continuing. "You're not the only one who's been slacking, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd hate to admit it but this is probably my first serious training session in a few months, so you've actually come at a good time." It was at this point that he paused again, he wasn't quite sure what she had in mind but he wouldn't be surprised if she was after a sparring session. After all, she wanted that the first time they met and quite a bit of time has passed since then. Though the counter-arguement would be that she had also got to see his true power since in the battle for South City, so maybe she wouldn't want to spar? Maybe some simple technique training with a partner? Who knew? He guessed he'd have to ask her. "What're you after here? A quick spar? Some technique training?" He asked rather casually and would let her speak her piece. Of course if this was actually the case, he wasn't going to go all out on her, that just wouldn't be fair. He'd provide her with enough power to draw out her power and push her to the limits but that's where he'd cut himself off and she, could be used as a target for his new technique though the goal wouldn't be to hit her but to fire NEAR her. He wouldn't risk doing serious harm to the poor girl, after all the Earth was going to need her. The warriors of Earth were few, few enough that the numbers wouldn't even be counted on one full hand. So far, he could only think of the woman who tried to stop him making his home and then Opherla. That didn't leave the Earth with many options, so he was going to need to get Opherla ready. Who knew when the next threat would be, who knew when somebody even stronger than Liari was going to show up and with the PTO still active in the universe and Athren's attack on the USD, he figured it was only a matter of time until they made their move to extend their reach to the Earth and that was something that he couldn't allow.

"Really? I didn't think you were the kind of guy to just... take time off like that. Then again, I guess light training and some recreational stuff is R&R for you, huh?" Opherla laughed a bit. It was refreshing to know she wasn't the only one who had slacked a bit. She had to admit though, she watched that Black Nova Wave attack and only one thing could go through her mind at this moment. SHE WANTED TO DO THAT TOO! It looked so cool! So epic! It was a move that Opherla literally wanted in her repertoire so badly! There had to be a way to learn that move! And she would do anything at all to learn it!
Athren then brought up her being here, asking her why. Opherla would give him a dumbfounded look. This didn't sound like Saiyan talk, but then seeing the look in his eyes made her realize he probably knew the answer already. Might as well confirm it for him, right? "I'd really like a spar with you, yeah. It'll help me get back into fighting form after so much time off." Opherla remarked with a small smile. "So, yeah! A spar would be great. Away from your village of course. Don't wanna risk hurting anyone, after all."
After breaching that subject, Opherla needed to bring this back up after seeing Athren's move. "By the by... that move of yours? It's so AWESOME! Can I have a move like that!? It would be so cool if you could teach me a move like that! It looked AMAZING!" Opherla squealed like a little girl. "So can ya teach it to me? Can ya? Can ya!?" Opherla asked like a little kid begging for a toy she wanted so very much. But it was backed by a level of eagerness only a Saiyan, Hybrid or Full-blood, could display. Opherla REALLY wanted to learn Black Nova Wave. The question was: Would Athren even teach her? Or better yet, want to be her Master at all? Roshi was great, he gave Opherla the Kamehameha, but Athren... Athren could totally be a Master Opherla would want to look up to.

Athren couldn't help but nod his head to her first comment, he really wasn't the type to take these kinds of breaks from training. Formerly, he trained every single moment he could in order to complete his objective. He lived in his gravitron, his brain was always thinking up new techniques on how to counter crazy things he had seen out in the universe but with his victory, maybe the peace was indeed making him soft but then again, it very well have just been the peaceful environment. The people on this planet weren't like the Saiyan race, they were peaceful and passive and not looking for a fight, not looking for the next chance to get stronger and maybe it was rubbing off on Athren all the wrong ways. Regardless, he knew it would have to be something he had to confront and figure out. He still needed to retain his strength and he surely still needed to grow. The next threat was around the corner and if nobody else could take it down, he'd have to.
"You'd be right about that, normally I wouldn't be taking the time off but all of my previous training, all that hard work was driven by a single purpose and that was to defeat Liari. Once I put her in the ground, I felt like my training goals were accomplished and I guess maybe I earned the break. Took a moment to relax and did other things.. or maybe I just lost track of time."
He gave her an honest answer, excluding his children. That was still a secret that would die with him. Nobody had to know about that aside from Ukare. When Ukare was finally back, Athren was fully going to explain everything to his former best friend but until that day came, it would be a secret he carried with him to the grave. He wouldn't risk his children being targeted because of him again and there wasn't a single chance he'd risk their lives again. He couldn't bare to witness them dead again, for that was just far too much for a father to handle, even a Saiyan warrior as himself. That would break anybody.
Athren would nod his head and actually agree to a spar, whether he had to hold back or not wasn't a concern of his. Whether he liked it or not, this planet needed fighters, those willing to risk everything to defend it and Opherla had already proven she had it in her to be that individual. So long as she could train and push herself, she'd have no issues reaching the levels he did. After all, she was at least half saiyan and the Super Saiyan transformation was just ahead of her. She'd just have to keep practicing and not give up. If Athren could help to get her there, he would.
"I'd be game for a short spar, I've got to admit that it'd probably good for me too. Grind the rust off and bring back some of that natural instinct."
Though what she had said next had slightly caught him off guard, he wasn't quite sure why she thought his technique looked so amazing as it was pretty bland and basic. Nothing more than a mere wave technique that was focused on being more accurate. It seemed she even wanted to learn it but he would have to give credit where credit was due.
"I'm not sure why you'd want to learn that, it's nothing more than a simple wave technique. Plus, Callion's Kamehameha was the inspiration so if you'd rather go right to the source, I'd ask him for that instead. I don't have too many techniques I'd pass on but the ones I do, Well.. those are for me..."
He couldn't help but shrug his shoulders slightly. She probably wouldn't like the answer he gave her but he wasn't going to completely leave her hanging. After all, she was needed on Earth. She could protect it, she just needed some guidance.
"..But I'd be more than willing to help you develop some of your own techniques and help you get stronger. The Earth could use some more fighters like you."
Though with that being said Athren would take a short leap back even if his arms would remained crossed. The plateau had been set up for the perfect little spar high up on the mountain top. There was nothing here that could cause harm to his village or his people. So long as they monitored their own techniques and aim, there was no risks at all up here.
"Shall we get started?"
He commented, allowing her to make the first move. He wanted to let her come at him with everything she had. He was going to play defensively and see exactly what she was capable of at this moment in time. He was also going to assess her fighting styles and try to draw out some of her techniques to see where she had been lacking. Without seeing any of it though, Athren's biggest piece of advice was to focus on her own fighting style and create techniques that suit her and create techniques with a wide range of uses. If she could do that, she'd have a defensive and offensive option to every single situation she would find herself in. She was young though, and that kind of thing came with time and experience.
Awaiting for her to make the first attack, he couldn't help but get just a little bit excited. It had been quite some time since he had fought anybody, Liari was the last to be exact and it seemed like it was time to grind some of the rust off and get back to it. Hopefully he'd still have all his raw talent but he'd be about to find out. Hopefully, Opherla could draw some of it out of him with some solid thinking and strategy.

"Okay, yeah I can see where you might take time to yourself after all that." Opherla remarked in regards to Athren talking about Liari and killing her off. Though, she was back, Opherla knew that from meeting her not long ago. She had a girlfriend and everything, not to mention seemed like she wouldn't become evil again... at least, Opherla hoped so. She knew Moire, Moire was a good Majin in her eyes... unless of course it was all a facade, which could very well be possible.
Regardless her train of thought was getting off track of where it needed to be: Training, sparring, back in fighting form. That's why she was here. Not to reveal the bombshell that Liari was back to send Athren into an unneeded panic again. Athren agreed to spar with her, as her eyes lit up enthusiastically, ready to get going with it.
Athren seemed very reserved on teaching her Black Nova Wave, however. Which, ultimately, Opherla understood. You don't just give away those technique secrets after all. What surprised her is when he just rubbed it off as being extremely subpar to the grandeur technique Opherla had believed it to be. He even told her to probably learn off Callion instead and learn the Kamehameha. Opherla was slightly insulted, she had already learned the Kamehameha! Roshi taught her that and she was proud to use it! Why couldn't Athren teach her some of his cool stuff?
"Keeping all the cool techniques to yourself, huh? That's kinda selfish." Opherla jokingly pouted before she then laughed it off. After all, this was Athren and he had his motives for everything. Who was Opherla to judge? "I get it, though, you wanna keep your stuff to yourself and let everyone else be creative with their techniques. I getcha fully, Ath." Opherla said with a genuine smile.
Then came the shellshock of his next statement: Offering to help Opherla develop her OWN techniques! Sure, Opherla had done well on her own with new technique designs, her most recent being the strong move titled Wolffire Raze, which she couldn't be more proud of developing. But to have help to think up more techniques in the future to really dazzle and blast her opponents away? That was an offer Opherla just could not pass up. She smiled at Athren and nodded enthusiastically.
"That would be AWESOME! I'd love to have some help creating new techniques!" Opherla said, almost in a squeal but she kept herself contained to keep a professional attitude and tone in this moment.
She watched Athren hop back a bit, revealing to her the perfect spot to battle already having been there the entire time. A plateau of perfect size to spar on. Just be careful with aiming points and everything would be fine! That's what it looked like to Opherla anyways!
"Yeah, I'm ready! Here we go!" Opherla said with a smile. She needed to really show the fruits of her labor since the last time she and Athren had met. The Kamehameha might have been the weaker of her newest techniques but, she'd save it for later since Athren assumed she didn't have it yet. To start, she would try to utilize her newest move to full effectiveness.
"HRAAAAH!" Opherla yelled as her ki rocketed, and she began firing multiple ki blasts in a shotgun-like spread, as Athren was pelted by some of them, while others missed him intentionally, as Opherla's ki blasts clouded Athren's vision. When the onslaught stopped, Athren looked around and found himself in a Hellzone Grenade-esque trap, when suddenly Opherla slashed him multiple times, before dashing through him with another slash, red ki following her slash trail as she landed on the other side of Athren, which gave the cue for the other ki blasts to close in and explode on him violently, as Opherla immediately turned to where Athren was, knowing he was a lot stronger than her, and that he was far from done with an attack like that. Opherla knew beating Athren was one hell of a long shot, even in a spar, but she was gonna give it her best Lycan Saiyan try!

"I'd have to say, it was probably well deserved at least." He commented back replying to her response. It really wasn't like him to take such a break but hell, why not? The Earth was having it's moment of peace and free from Liari, or so he thought. He couldn't see any big threats coming anytime soon and even the last battle on Earth, others had gathered to stop the saiyan attack. He didn't fully believe he'd be needed in the Earth's next battle, there had been other people to step in now and that was perfectly fine by him. After getting Opherla up to Super Saiyan, she'd be one hell of a contender as well but that wouldn't stop him from being ready. After all, who knew what was going to attack next. Though he couldn't help but raise his right brow to her next comment about him being selfish, though she claimed to understand it in full. Given she had been rather young Athren highly doubted she did and he couldn't help but shake his head slightly. He felt that an explanation was warranted here to help her understand his mindset fully. It wasn't about keeping his techniques a secret or hiding them from the world, but it was as simple as what worked for him might have not worked for her. It all depended on fighting styles. "It isn't about keeping stuff to myself. Listen, I've developed my techniques over a lifetime of battles. I've taken something from each battle I've been in and every situation I couldn't get out of. I think about what weakness I've displayed, what techniques I've faced and design my techniques to get around them. I'd rather design my own techniques in order to get out of any situation a fighter could throw at me than focus on similar techniques to what I've already got." Though his words may have been a bit upfront, he truly believed it. She was much better off experiencing battles first hand and coming up with the appropriate techniques to remedy the negative situations she found herself in and he was going to explain this to her. "If I taught you my techniques, you might know the technique but you won't know the situations they're made to get you out of. You're better off creating your own and applying them to your own fighting style." Those were his great words of wisdom for her and he knew without a doubt in his mind, that if she applied this she would become one of the greatest warriors on Earth. Though with his offer of helping her design her own it would appear her entire mood had shifted. She was full of enthusiasm and eager for this. Hell, even her tone of voice gave away the very excitement in her soul. It was kind of a nice thing to see if he was being honest. He never had such a light heart mindset when it came to this kind of thing. For him training was about survival, it was about putting in the work to assure that by the end of the fight that he would be the one standing. Though after Athren had hopped back into his position Opherla had finally said she was ready. She had a big and bright smile on her face while Athren was calm and collected. He was very familiar with this, fighting was his profession. He was raised at birth to be nothing more than a warrior and though he was shifting his destiny, he'd never forget all those painful lessons growing up. It brought him to where he was today and he wouldn't change a single thing. Not many could claim to be a Super Saiyan two and be honest about it after all.
"Come on then!" Athren said calmly as he prepared himself to see what Opherla would do. Her energy blasted up and she immediately began firing upon him and he couldn't help but give off a smirk. It was far too long since he got to experience this, far too long since he had managed to get himself into a little spar. Of course the stakes were low but at least he'd grind some of the rust off and get back into it. For her first wave of Ki blasts, Athren would've simply crossed his arms in front of himself to shield himself from a majority of the impact. Though his shoulders and arms would take a good portion of the blast, they weren't enough to cause any real damage. The worst they did was damage his clothing all but a bit. When his guard was clear and able to be lowered, Athren's ocean blue eyes would scan the area to see that she had put him in a sort of trap. He couldn't help but be amused by this. It was a rather unique idea and he had to give her props for that, but it simply wouldn't work.
When she closed the gap Athren would make use of his superior speed and move his body out of the way. He had already found himself in the mood for this, his senses heightening at the simple contact of her initial Ki blasts. His blood was pumping, the lust for battle already starting to consume him after months of being passive. His drive for battle reignited on the spot, with a single volley. His body shifted and turned as he ducked and weaved out of the way from her strikes. He had every advantage here and he was really going to see what this girl was capable of. He wanted to test how she could react and how she'd handle things, instead of testing her strength.
When she followed through with her last slash Athren once again avoided contact with a swift motion of his body, though this triggered the surrounding Ki blasts to start rushing in towards him. His response to this was simple and rather instant. He knew this was coming, he was prepared for it. It was all just about when.
He'd immediately lower his power level so she couldn't sense him and use instant transmission to appear behind her with his body close as all the Ki blasts would collide into the ground. The dust cloud consuming the area where he used to be and covering up the fact that he was no longer here. With a soft whisper, Athren would let her know that it didn't work. "I'm behind you." He was eager to see how she'd react to this. Would she panic or stay calm?

Opherla was waiting patiently for when Athren revealed himself. She hoped her senses were wrong and that Athren had taken the attack in full so he could gauge her power, but soon heard his whisper in her ear... and it caused her to gain a small tick mark before reeling her elbow back and SMASHING it into his guts. Regardless if it had effect or not, Opherla would step a bit away from Athren and pout at him while folding her arms.
"Ya know, for a big ol' tough guy you sure didn't take that attack. Afraid I've powered up enough to actually damage you, Ath?" Opherla dryly joked as she shook her head. "I was honestly hoping you'd at least be able to gauge me a bit, and not just avoid my attacks to showboat."
Opherla regained herself and began to try and at least get Athren to see the fruits of her training as she dashed at him, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks at him. Was this pretty futile? Yeah, Opherla knew it was, but, when you're trying to at least show your growth, you gotta land a hit of some kind, right? Opherla would keep doing this for a bit before she took to the air and began to charge up. If he was gonna evade, at least make it to where he could see her full arsenal now, not to mention, at the angle she was, he'd have to take her attack or it would likely blow through the plateau. Welp, here she goes!
"Ka... me...." Opherla yelled as the familiar blue beam of the Kamehameha formed in her hands. Athren had told her to learn it from Callion, no need, she already learned it from that old hermit turtle.
"Ha... me..." Opherla continued, the beam glowing brightly in her hands as she intended to put as much power as she possibly could into the attack to blast at Athren. Opherla strangely found the attack to be glowing much brighter than it had before in her hands... she never knew she could put this much into her attack at one time! Not to mention, how long had it been since she last used her move? This must have stemmed from her determination to show Athren how far she's come. That could be the only explanation as she looked directly at Athren for the final shout.
"HA!!!!!" Opherla yelled. Her once smaller Kamehameha erupted as a much larger and fiercer beam that shot through the sky and lit it up. The power behind it wasn't as great as her Wolffire Raze, but Athren could feel the strength of it from down low. Compared to their first meeting, Opherla definitely had gotten stronger, this was the evidence of that. Which only served as more proof for Athren of just what this little wolf Saiyan was capable of. The potential she had, the heights she could attain.
The blue beam coursed at Athren as the trajectory saw the situation at a crossroads. If he evaded like before, the beam would destroy their plateau they sparred on. If he took it head on, chances are it wouldn't hurt that bad. But, he could also use his newest technique to counter it, provided Ophy got out of the way of the beam to avoid severe damage.
Regardless of what option he chose, after the attack Opherla would be ready for a counter from Athren, whether it be a beam shot right at her, or an attack that came after he dodged or took the blow. Opherla knew that one blow from Athren, even as strong as she was, was gonna HURT.

Getting behind her was far too easy, and if he really wanted too this thing would've been over in one simple blow. Just like how he racked out Tanya when he was laying claim to the land he'd call home, he could do the same here to Opherla. Though that's wasn't what this was about, there had been nobody getting in his way and this was essentially all for fun to see what she could do. Besides, Athren wasn't going to argue with the chance to grind the rust off his fighting abilities either! Though now that he was behind her, it was time to see how she'd handle this situation. Would she go straight for the attack or try another clever little trick to get a more strategical advantage? He was looking forward to see how this was going to go down.
Quickly her elbow came swinging back and SMASHING into hit guts, though he could actually feel it, it didn't have enough force to make him hunch over. Though it did prepare him for another attack. Though much to his surprise, she had decided to step back a little and have a little dialog with him. "Heh, I figured you would've pressed your attack a little bit more than time around. We were close, it would've been the perfect time to keep at it." He smirked lightly. Athren was truly a close quarters fighter, there wasn't anything else like going toe to toe with another fighter to see who was the best. Few techniques and all hands, that's kind of the way Athren liked to go about it.
Though her words were playful, he couldn't help but arch a brow out of curiosity. She wanted him to purposely take hits? He couldn't help but chuckle a little bit. "Isn't the whole point of a spar to avoid damage while giving damage? You know, a train how you fight type situation?" He replied casually before addressing the rest of her words. "Who said I wasn't gauging you? There's a lot more to being a fighter than just power output. Power can change, rapidly. Strategy and skill, now that's much more important and a lot harder to come by." Athren retorted as his ocean blue eyes watched her closely. He was preparing for a little bit of a sneak attack or a rush attack, something to catch him off guard when he was talking but it appeared that wasn't going to happen, until it did.
For a very brief moment, Athren got exactly what he wanted. Up close and personal, close quarters exchange of blows. He immediately went on the defensive and matched her speed. His body shifted, his head weaved, his arms blocking blows just as fast as they came. He was doing this perfectly until he decided to also put himself on the offensive. His speed remained the same, keeping his level near Opherla's as the blows would start landing against his body while he was now too sending quick and rapid punches and kicks towards Opherla. He couldn't help but admit, he was rather having some fun and this was kind of exciting to him. Though her last blow would've slipped through and caught him on the jaw, jerking his head to the side. Just as he was about to counter attack with another blow but she decided to change it up once more. She jumped up into the air and out of range for his punches. He didn't chase her though, he'd simply watch to see what she was going to do.
He couldn't help but smirk again the second he recognized the technique. It would appear that she did know the Kamehameha. That might've explained the certain level of spunk that he received earlier. "So, you already know the Kamehameha? It turns out. You don't need my technique at all." Athren couldn't help but watch for a moment, his feet remained planted firmly on the ground while he rapidly selected the best method to handle this. He figured he could've deflected it or used his shield but why now make it fun for her? He was going to to counter it with his newest technique, force her into a beam struggle, make her put some effort into this little clash. Though he was going to hold it back, he didn't want to seriously hurt her after all.
Athren would bring his right hand down to his side, his fingers pointing downwards as his left hand wrapped around his right wrist for support. It was in this moment that he began to form the red energy ball in his hands. He kept careful track of Opherla's progress, seeing just how big and powerful her technique was. He made sure to put a similar amount of energy into it. With her eyes locking onto his she was ready for this engagement. He voice roared as she pushed her hand forward and unleashed the energy wave right at him!
Though Athren was prepared and though it wasn't required, he would vocalize his own attack to add some theatrics into their little spar. "DEMONIC NOVA WAVE!" As he thrust his hand forward as he twisted it up into an upright position. His left arm supporting the power in his right arm fully as the red wave of energy blasted up into the sky and CLASHED with Opherla's technique! Athren couldn't help but crack another smile as he maintained just enough energy to keep himself from losing any ground in this beam struggle.
"What are you going to do now?!" Athren exclaimed, continuing to maintain the beam struggle. Would she put more of her power into this technique and leave her lacking afterwards or would she try to break off and avoid the contact from his own blast? Athren was very curious about this and was looking forward to getting a sneak peak into her fight or flight response. IF she was going to continue to clash, she was going to need to hold on tight because Athren wasn't going to make it easy on her.
