This time... It wasn't Janemba who sought out Liari. Just the opposite in fact. Learning how to... "teleport," was almost like a drug to the majin, giving her a sense of freedom she had never before felt! Flying was one thing, being able to ignore the land and it's wide range of structures almost entirely! This...? It was as if you were ignoring distance and space itself! One moment you were here... the next, you were elsewhere. Even the effort to JUMP such vast distances seemed entirely inconsequential! She felt... alive. ...And if Janemba knew this, treated it as simple a trick as walking... what else did he know? For whatever reason, the twisted demon had taken an interest in her, actively WANTING to teach her things. She would have been a fool to pass it up.
After her death, Liari had spent what little time she had to herself thinking... Sure, she could get stronger. YES, she could become EVEN STRONGER than that idiot Athren... But what would be the point? What would she even DO once she had the power if she couldn't even claw her way out of this dump? Hell, for all its expansiveness, didn't have any of the treasures the Mortal Realm did. People seemed to only be here to mess with you, to make your stay that much more unpleasant. Food? Only if you could transmute it? Beds? Better hope you find a soft patch of dirt to sleep on. Hell was as much a prison as those cages Janemba forced her into. ...And Janemba was the only one who could help her escape...
It didn't take long for Liari to detect the OVERWHELMING POWER of the demon, his energy surging through hell like a super-cell storm. If she could visualize it, Janemba's energy was like that of the vortex-cloud that lead into tornados, an ominous sense of power and dread right before coming face-to-face with the disaster it brought forth. Liari flew straight into that storm, ignoring how loudly every last cell in her body SCREAMED for her to run. It was like leashing a mad dog with how the majin fought herself, FORCING her body to bend to her command, FORCING it ever forward towards the darkness. In there, there was knowledge she needed to escape this place... techniques she needed to avoid EVER coming here again...
Liari would land just before the demon, his arms crossed over his chest, his smile wide and toothy. He had been waiting for her.
"I knew you would come." Janemba purred, confirming the majin's suspicion. "...Was learning to teleport not enough for you?"
"...Need more..." Liari muttered after a while, her eyes flicking up to meet Janemba's piercing gaze... only to flick back down to her boots a second after... Even looking into his eyes was terrifying... The darkness inside... the sheer EVIL condensed behind them... it was almost all-consuming... "...No can leave this place... it... hold me here..."
"Oh, that won't change for some time yet." Janemba snickered, Liari's gaze SNAPPING up to meet his! The demon could read outrage and betrayal in her eyes, as if everything she had done up until now had been for nothing! The look... annoyed the demon, not least since he put the time in to actually TEACH this ungrateful creature something!
"I... I thought..."
"What I taught you has no bearing on your ability to leave Hell... yet." Janemba explained, his smile falling to a bemused frown. "Something has changed in the afterlife. Prior to this change, all souls were treated the same with very few exceptions. When you die, you go to your assigned afterlife. And THERE is where you stay." Janemba would raise a finger. "However... more and more souls as of late have been able to escape the grasp of death in time. Their halos simply... fade away, causing them to either be spat out of the afterlife... or allowing them to leave as they wish."
"S-so... that mean..."
"What I trained you in wouldn't have changed whether or not you could leave... but if you could come back." Janemba would raise a second finger. "...Because I can feel in you that your time is coming soon. Your halo will fade and you will be ejected from this plane... But, with my technique, nothing can stop you from returning."
"...But why...?" Liari asked, a confused expression coming across her face. "...Why I wanna come back to this place...?"
"You won't be able to help yourself." Janemba smirked. "My powers are unique... Unrivaled in this universe. Not just any being can learn these technques... and nobody by I are familiar enough with them to teach them to someone else. I know you, Majin. You want power... You're afraid of losing control again. With my power, you never will again."
Liari's eyes shot WIDE... then narrowed with suspicion and, perhaps, DEFIANCE... then dropped back down to her feet again. He was right. Janemba had read her like a book... and he was right. Liari couldn't let what happened on earth happen again... First, controlled and manipulated by the beings she had taken into herself... then controlled, manipulated and KILLED by the saiyan freak that had punched her head off. If there was one thing in the universe Liari couldn't stand, it was her own existence being dictated and puppeteered by the will of another... and to escape that life for good, the majin would have to sacrifice her own morals and comfort... at least for now.
"...So lets stop beating around the bush and get back to work." Janemba grunted, reaching down and GRABBING Liari's head! In an instant, their bodies would disintegrate into cubes before appearing in another place... Janemba dropped the majin harshly on the ground as he faded once more into cubes, Liari looking up to see... panels surrounding her...? No, mirrors! Glassy red mirrors shimmering in Hell's light as if they were made of some kind of liquid!
"Prepare yourself and learn." Janemba grunted, his voice reverberating through her brain... before a fist SHOT OUT from the space in front of her! Liari gasped as the demon's red fist PLOWED into her belly, the majin letting out a gutteral GRUNT as steam BLASTED out of the holes lining her arms! Liari dropped to her knees, only for a boot to SHOOT OUT OF NOWHERE AND SMASH her across the jaw, sending the majin rolling end-over-end across the dirt, kicking up a massive cloud of lavender-shaded dust!
"He... He not hitting me outta nowhere..." Liari whispered, wiping her wrist across her lips as she struggled to her feet! She watched as Janemba's foot disappeared into the air again, Liari's eyes flicking around at her surroundings! "...He teleporting a piece of himself to attack me...!"
