It wasn't long after her ability to sense Ki was set in stone when Ayu started to think about using it for something else. Maybe not exactly a thing but there was a certain skill of hers that was tied to energy sensing to some degree. To use it she had to pinpoint someone's location and after that, she was able to communicate with them telepathically... As long as she could sense them that is - or maybe not? If she played her cards right could she deliver the message further than that? It wouldn't hurt to try... If her range of Ki-sensing grew it should be possible for Ayu to talk with others at greater distances, maybe even when they were on different planets? That would be interesting - and useful in critical situations. After all, technology wasn't something that she could understand easily, and carrying a mobile around with her seemed troublesome. And it's not like others would be able to answer a phone call when they would be in a middle of a fight. Telepathy seemed to best every other option and Ayu was willing to practice this skill even more... But how? She would need help for someone.
... Or something? After all, it's not like she could only communicate with speech understood by Earthlings and other races. Ayu could talk to plants, more or less, and could converse with them. It sounded weird at first... Even if it was a mosaic of feelings, sensations, and impulses, it was a two-way talk that she could have with trees going nearby. So telepathy seemed like a good option to practice that line of communication, as Nasu said, she was connected to nature rather than being the one who manipulates the vegetation around. Ayu never thought about it and this description suited her just right. So following that thought she decided to make some use of it and practice telepathy - even if technically it would be just her sending her sensations to something growing far away and getting a response back.
It did sound a bit mundane and abstract, to the point when Ayu started to question if it really was a good idea... But by human logic, talking to plants should be impossible in general. Or magic shouldn't exist. Or anything of sorts that she was used to - because she was already talking to plants, making energy barriers, and living on the Lookout with a person called Kami. A God, Guardian of Earth... Not to mention meeting new races and taking care of kids like it was nothing. So if Ayu was a Bio-Android made of different races, with high power levels and green thumbs, she should be able to have a telepathic conversation with the old oak that was growing next to her window. The tree was of course growing near her house in East Continent, away from the Lookout as much as it was possible.
There was no other way than to stand firmly on the edge and close her eyes, her range of sensing widening towards the east side of the world. Her Far Seeing Arts weren't perfect so Ayu couldn't see her home but she focused on sensing the flora there. After some tidying up the area around her garden was nice and clean, and with a little help, she even fixed the walls. What happened to windows was another story... But she was glad to be able to visit her home a few days ago. That's how she knew that the oak was growing healthy, throwing some very needed shade over the roof during the hot summer months. The old tree with cracked bark and green leaves was slouching a little under the weight of years but Ayu liked this spot, she used to sit under it all the time... That's why when her mind floated in that direction, she focused on this serene, surprisingly wistful energy. Contrary to animals and Earthlings, the Ki - what was fueling every being alive - in plants wasn't centered around their heart or brain, or nerves. The energy was diffused through the whole organism. If energy sensing was a skill that used sight, Ayu would see only silhouettes of humans or animals with vital spots burning bright with energy - only the shapes of plants would be firm and illuminated from within. A beautiful sight that would be... But feeling Ki worked a bit differently.
Anyway, she reached the tree and with utmost care send a message. A sensation that asked about the warmth of the sun, the vibration in the ground, and the moisture of the soil were the oak's roots dug into the dirt. Ayu waited for a few heartbeats, trying to listen and to feel the response but she couldn't. Maybe it wasn't telepathy but her plant empathy was working on that distance and... And that quite failed her point of practicing long-range communication.
Before she could sigh and wonder why it didn't work, a soft sensation bounced off the direction she send this question. Ayu blinked and gasped a little, opening her eyes wider when she realized that it was a plant thousand miles away, speaking back to her. It worked. Rubbing her temples, she focused on the message.
The sensations she could read were clear. The sun was warm just enough after the cold seasons and she could tell which branches were soaking in most of the sun. The new leaves sprouted, she could feel how they did so - just because the message was so easy to understand. The ground was still a little cold for this old tree and the water moved in the soil slowly but that was enough to get by. After all the sun needed to warm the ground more before the spring would come with full force and the oak could be covered with tiny blossoms. Ayu smiled to herself and nodded a little, sending back another message, telling her that she was sure that the warmth soon will come. And that maybe, just maybe, she'd come there again to sit by this old oak with a favorite book, enjoying the good weather.
The oak seemed to like that... Which made her tear up a little as she focused on keeping this connection. She missed her old house dearly. She should visit it again soon.

Talking to plants around the planet was nice but it lacked the responsive and fluid element that conversing with people gave Ayu. Well, not sure that someone suffering from anxiety could say it... There was something about engaging in this soft exchange of sensation with flora that was really calming and yet, there were moments when words were need to be used a lot more. After all, she was still learning how to talk with others, how to respond, and how to not mean any harm... That was something to practice, badly. Still, if she was rehearsing her telepathy it would be bad to just pop inside someone's head and impolitely engage in conversation. Imagine the horror the unsuspected person could feel... That made her shiver. She'd hate to be a victim of something like that too. Lots of people on Earth weren't aware that telepathy was a thing and could get startled easily by her so it might have been easier to just drop that idea. But with her range growing so far, Ayu was now sure that she could be able to reach anyone on the planet with her thoughts - but what about those who were up in space?
She didn't know anyone who could be off the planet right now. Maybe she could be able to reach them but if she couldn't sense a person she knew... Bothering a stranger was both impolite and troubling. And looking for an alien plant to talk to seemed a bit too farfetched. Though when she started to think about cosmic flora, Ayu's curiosity grew. How would they look and behave? Were their organelles the same as those on Earth? What functions would they develop in their environments... She was able to manipulate the flora enough to make something that nature would never achieve - but that was on the blue planet. The thing that seemed to be unnatural here could be something trivial out there. And that was fascinating... Maybe she wasn't so keen on traveling through the galaxies but it would certainly be enjoyable to go on a trip to learn about the types of flora growing all over other planets... Ah, no, no it wasn't the time. As enjoyable as daydreaming was, Ayu had the training to finish and she still wasn't sure how to do this.
She decided that the best course of action would be to try to search again for a familiar life signature out there in space. If not, then she'd have a tough nut to crack, thinking about how to practice this ability...
And as Ayu was about to start pondering and diving into overthinking again, a spark of energy high above her in the galaxy was spotted by her mind. She blinked, trying to focus on it - the Ki was similar to someone she met once, in the forest, while fighting this giant snake that wanted to make dinner out of both of them. Right! Was it Tabu? A friendly albeit a bit rough Namekian that she was able to aid in that unexpected battle. He had to reach the Earth somehow, so most likely he had a spaceship in his possession... It shouldn't be so strange in this age - Ayu had a ship too. Though it's not like she had any clue how to operate it or even how to turn it on aside from using the Gravitron for her training... Maybe she should ask Dende or Mr. Popo to teach her that - just in case she would need that skill later.
Anyway, she focused on the energy, trying to gently slip her words inside his mind, not in an alarming or threatening way - she wanted to make her message sound as amicable as possible.
Tabu..? H-Hello? she greeted him softly but the reaction she got was something Ayu did not expect. Because right away she felt growing panic in the person's mind.
What the... W-Why are you talking in my head?! a low, male voice answered back and Ayu felt a cold sweat on her back. That was not Tabu... Energies might be similar and she might have been talking to a Namekian but it wasn't her friend but a complete stranger. Oh no... She did the very same thing she didn't want to, bothering someone she didn't know and startling them in the process.
Oh n-no, I'm s-sorry, Ayu started to apologize right away, feeling how her cheeks were growing pink with a nervous heat. I mistook you for someone I k-know... I apologize f-for bothering you, I d-didn't mean to scare anyone... she mumbled. The worry and shame started to overpower her attention and she didn't notice that the presence and the voice from somewhere in the galaxy started to grow curious instead of angry. The connection was still there.
How did you do that? the voice asked in awe. They were still reserved and cautious but at the same time quite interested in what was happening. How am I able to talk to you like that... And who the hell are you, anyway?
O-Oh, the telepathy? I've been p-practicing hard and I was trying to reach a friend that I thought was traveling through the galaxy... I mistook you for him and I am sorry, Ayu apologized again, comforted a little by the fact that the stranger she was talking to wasn't bearing any ill will toward her action. I'm a student of a Namekian master on a blue planet, she explained honestly but at the same time, she avoided giving away any crucial details. As much as she wanted to trust this person, whose energy was clear and calm, she was aware that it wasn't a good idea. Not every person had others' best interest at heart and even if Ayu wasn't going to do anything with the information she could gain it didn't mean the others would do the same.
Anyway, through this small talk, she learned that the Lyr was a Namekian warrior traveling through space in search of his brother that left their home planet long ago. He didn't know Tabu and didn't mind that she mistook him for her friend, and they ended up having a bit of a conversation. Ayu learned something that started to worry her - that the situation on Namek was tense. There was PTO and USD involved and the people were suffering under the pressure. She wished to see once this place, or at least make it possible for Dende to visit his home - he has been staying on Earth for so long... But knowing that this planet wasn't completely safe, that wouldn't be a good idea.
After an hour they said their goodbyes and Ayu closed the telepathic connection. She achieved what she wanted, learning to communicate with people far, far away from where she was... And at the same time she was starting to worry more about what was happening on the Namek.
