Well, he really wasn't having any luck searching for the Dragon Balls yet. Though he had found himself in the vicinity of one, it just seemed as if he couldn't actually lay his eyes on it. He was hoping that the one in the Frozen North would be rather easy to find, sitting right there and out in the open for him to swing in and grab but it didn't appear that was going to be the case. He had spent more time than he would've liked to here. Not only was it freezing, but it was incredible difficult terrain to location the small Orange Orb. He had already gone through most of the snow that was in the area, kicking it up, forcing it aside and even melting it in order to try and locate the orb but the simple fact of the matter, is that it wasn't just underneath the layer or snow, but he was now convinced that it was deep within the layer of ice or underneath in the water below. Athren had already spent a short period of time swimming below with his orb of energy illuminating the bottom of the frozen area, so it was hard to get motivated to dive back in.
He couldn't help but think that his best approach was to simply to keep removing layer upon layer of ice. After all, it was VERY thick from top to bottom and there was lots of room for the Dragon Ball to be resting. It would be much harder than the snow to melt and observe, but it was really the only way he could manage to do this. It wouldn't be easy, nor would it be quick but he was here for a reason and couldn't leave empty handed. He had to keep going, keep trying to find he Dragon Ball in order to bring all his friends back, restore Orange City and the people. There was too much at stake for him to give up.
It was at this point he landed on top of the spot that the Radar told him was directly on top of the Dragon Ball, though with the calibration being slightly off he was well aware the the search radius wasn't quite as exact as he'd like it to be. Never the less, he had to continue. He started by breaking the ice bit by bit, hitting it with large Ki blasts and removing chunk by chunk at a time. He'd keep his eyes on the Dragon Radar to make sure that the Dragon Ball didn't move because of all the impacts to the ice. The last thing he'd want is it to go flying and him not noticing. That would kind of just make this whole thing harder than it had to be. The easier this was, the better.
Every time he made a big enough impact to the ice to create a small new search area, he'd drop down within it's layers and take a look around. His ocean blue eyes looking below and through the clear ice area him to see if there had been any resemblance of a Dragon Ball glimmering back at him. He'd then work his way horizontally and clear more ice, creating a much larger area as he continued to work his way down through the thick layers of ice.
It had felt like this was going on forever, that he wouldn't find the Dragon Ball in this type of environment. It was just far too large with no real indicator of a Dragon ball being anywhere. It was likely that it wouldn't be visible until he was right on top of it, with the ball being within an arms reach away from him. The ice, the landscape was here just covering everything underneath, anything that got frozen between it. He was going to need patience, determination and will power to find it out in the Frozen North. Though a little part of him couldn't help but wish that this ball would've been sitting for him, right on top of all this snow and ice, providing him with the simply opportunity to drop down and grab it with ease. He would much prefer a situation where he could simply go to the location the Dragon Ball Radar was telling him and leave within a matter of a few moments. Of course, his life was never that easy and every task he was given lately was a challenge, was difficult, was testing in one way or another.
He'd spent the rest of his time here cutting through the layers of ice, going deeper down before expanding the radius of his searching area. He assumed he was going to be here a little while but with a little bit of luck, maybe this Dragon Ball would reveal itself sooner rather than later. He wanted to go seek the next Dragon Ball, he wanted to be somewhere warmer where the air wasn't giving his skin a cooling, frosty bite. Though, whether he liked the location or not. He couldn't leave until this was found, lives were dependant on it. His friends, the ones he could call his family. They had died because of the decisions he had made and that was on him. He was the only one that could make it right at this point, there wasn't anybody else to step in and correct his mistake. Ukare couldn't help him anymore than providing him with the radar, his crew couldn't break off in teams to find the Dragon Balls either. All of this, was on him. Though he couldn't help but think about what his former crew were going to do when they returned, and he thought of building a small community near where they perished to provide them with a place to live until they decided what their next step was going to be. Maybe they'd move along rather quickly and venture back out to the starts, or not.
