The light of dawn visited the Ancient Lookout right after the rain has passed, so everything outside was soaked. The tilted floor was covered with a thin layer of water that reflected the clear sky above, creating one, enormous puddle that acted like a mirror. The chill of the night was slowly passing but the sun needed some time to warm up the air at this amplitude. Dew was shining on the plants in front of the main entrance to the temple, and a handful of birds soared in the sky above. At this hour everything felt peaceful.
When the morning finally arrived, Ayu was already up. Her biological clock was always waking her early and the regular chores were bringing stability and calmness that could sweep away the chaos - at least partially. It was quite early in the morning... Knowing that the kids needed some more time before they will woke up, she went to the kitchen to start the day with a cup of green tea. Her stomach refused to accept anything else, tied with worry and anxiety into an ice-cold knot. If Ayu had enough sleep last night, that was debatable... After they talked she had some more things to think about and she still wasn't able to figure out how to break the news to Terra. Considering the fact that Celric went to South City to help with evacuation, he most likely saw Liari as the main enemy of that event. Maybe her niece wasn't able to sense energy but kids were kids. They could talk, banter, and fight, she could guess that Celric would talk about the battle, painting Liari as the villain and Saiyans fighting her as heroes. Not like she could blame him... But how would Terra feel knowing that? Children knew and understood more than adults could assume.
Ayu sighed soundlessly, brushing hair away from her face, her eyes earnestly worried. Her fingers were wrapped around the hot cup, the steam floating gently in the air while her absent gaze seemed to stare at the wall on the other side of the kitchen. The Lookout was bigger than one could think, with many levels and mysterious rooms hiding in every corner - it wasn't surprising to see a place dedicated to cooking. Namekians didn't need to eat and Ayu could swear that she never saw Mr. Popo having anything else than tea, but the kitchen was still there. Guardians were changing through centuries and they weren't typically of only one race so it made sense. The place seemed to consist of layers of different cultures and knowledge hidden within, there were notes and books, artifacts that no one knew what they could do. Not once or twice was she running after kids snooping around the restricted rooms, afraid that something bad would happen.
Now there was something worse that she had to face.
Lying to Terra was out of the question. She could not deceive her - it wasn't about her finding out through other people what had truly happened, but about trust. It just didn't feel right and she had every right to know what fate Liari met - even if it was cruel. Ayu's stomach dropped again and she narrowed her eyes when a pained frown appeared on her face. Rubbing her forehead she shook her head, hoping that she won't look as awful as she felt, she'd hate to concern the kids. Making up stories or explanations was a grey area and Ayu wasn't sure how she felt about it.
Slowly taking another sip of tea, she leaned on the table, resting her forehead on her right hand. Green bangs covered her right eye. In the empty kitchen, at this hour, time was passing differently... Too slow or too fast? She couldn't exactly tell. After the chaos in South City, she thought that the night's calmness felt eerie but it was this serene morning that felt suspiciously peaceful. Like after all those blasts, and blood-curling screams that were ringing in her ears, this quiet and bright dawn wasn't real. Like it was surreal, an illusion that was going to fade away at any moment, leaving the path of burned-down buildings and broken glass... Or maybe it was her imagination, now twisted, mocking her with those visions? It just made her more tired. If she only could, she would curl into a bowl under blankets, hoping to not dream about anything anymore.
Ayu straightened her back when she heard footsteps approaching the kitchen. Softly blinking, she got up from the chair to pour another cup of green tea and place it on the opposite side of the table. Sitting down, she rested her heavy head on her hand, cheek hiding in her palm.
"They should wake up shortly," she said after a moment, closing her eyes.

Callion stood atop the Lookout, unaware of Ayu being awake. The Saiyan couldn’t sleep, not after the entire ordeal that had happened in South City, and because of that, he had been training like a mad Saiyan possessed. He trained so much so, that he remained in his Super Saiyan Grade 2 form, his hair spiked up and his muscles bulging with newfound strength. He had achieved the Super Saiyan Grade 2 form after his Zenkai Boost he received from getting a stabbed by surprised from Quash; his fellow Saiyan after when Callion had managed to free him from being mind control by the Majin Liari, and he was eager to test out his newfound power. As he moved through his training routine, Callion felt a sense of power and control that he had never experienced before. His movements were fluid and precise, each strike and block executed with perfect form and timing. Whilst he realised that his muscle increase has lead to a massive increase in his strength and defence, Callion recognised that his speed had been greatly reduce, and that was certainly going to be a future problem in the foreseeable future, but for now, it made for a nice intimidation transformation to show off his power.
“I need to get stronger no matter what. I know what is to happen if I do not surpass anyone stronger than me. I know what will happen in a months time from now, and I need to get even more powerful.” Callion thought in his mind, repeating those words as if it was a mantra to him, ever focusing on the task on trying to improve himself. He at least had the courteous behaviour in keeping his power level down as best as he could into not disturbing the kids, Ayu, Mr. Popo or Dende during their sleeping time, and he even kept his voice down whenever he shouted and roared in punching and kicking in the air and practicing his fighting technique at the same time. With each passing day ever since being on the Lookout, Callion felt himself getting stronger and faster, his senses becoming sharper and more acute. He knew that his training was paying off, and that he was becoming a more formidable opponent with each passing moment.
As he continued to practice his martial arts skills, Callion began to experiment with his Super Saiyan form, testing the limits of his newfound strength and power. He pushed himself harder and harder, each punch and kick delivering a devastating blow to the air around him. The sweat dribbling off from his muscular body, having to work half naked with his upper body completely exposed, having to remove his upper clothes due to the sheer muscle mass that developed from the transformation. Before training in the form Callion was in, he had a mental telepathic teaching session with King Kai. The Saiyan learnt that the form he was in now was a upgrade known as the Super Saiyan Grade 2 form, also known as Ascended Super Saiyan. According to King Kai, this transformation is the halfway point to fully mastering the first Transformation. It’s a transformation that greatly increases the physical abilities of a Saiyan. The transformation is achieved by a Saiyan who has already transformed into a Super Saiyan and then further pushes their limits.
From the words of King Kai, in this form, the Saiyan's muscles become much larger and more defined, giving them a much more powerful and imposing appearance. The Saiyan's hair stands straight up and becomes slightly more rigid than in the standard Super Saiyan form. The hair also grows slightly longer, with the ends curling slightly. The Saiyan's skin becomes slightly lighter in color, with a faint golden aura emanating from their body. This aura is much more pronounced than in the standard Super Saiyan form and is more concentrated around the Saiyan's body.
The most significant physical change in this form is the massive increase in the Saiyan's strength, power, and endurance. The Saiyan's muscles are able to handle the increase in power and durability, allowing them to fight and use physical and ki attack at incredible capacity while maintaining an enhanced power control over their techniques. Their strength also increases to the point where they can easily overpower opponents who would have previously given them trouble. The only issue was the speed, where it becomes so slow that it is essentially useless to fight in a physical combat.
Callion looked to his hands and nod at himself, fully realising what King Kai spoke to him in his mind before his master disconnected in allowing the Saiyan to train in peace on the lookout. “I see… So that what he meant… In raw power, this form can’t be beat…” Callion spoke to himself, looking at the sheer muscle gain all across his body. That’s when he recognised just how tiring the form really was and the taxation it brought to his energy. “But… The amount of concentrated energy an extreme expansion in mass… From what I can see and feel, the body can’t compensate for such a change. I can see… Oh, I don’t know, I’d say a fifty percent increase in power…” Callion proceeded to punch and kick in the air, once again noticing just how slow his physical attacks were.
“… But a Seventy-five percent decrease in speed and mobility. If I were to engage in combat in this form, I’d never be able to truly hit my opponent…” Callion made the deduction in his mind, his ridiculously long, blonde tail swayed freely, as he began to power down, returning to his base form. “That is going to be a problem… If I knew ki based techniques that can home in and lock onto to my opponents, that could compensate for the speed and mobility… Maybe use my Super Kaioken technique in this form, that could also eliminate the speed problem…”
Clearly, Callion was in a deep training thinking mode, spending the whole day and night training on his own, left him completely unaware of who may appear around him.

Terra still hadn't gotten used to the Lookout... not as her new home, anyway. It was a weird feeling, almost as if the place were a cabin in the woods she and Ayu were taking a vacation in. Everything was so DIFFERENT up here... Terra no longer awoke to the fresh smell of morning dew and clean oxygen from the plants outside nor was she able to step out onto the porch and feel the slightly over-grown grasses tickle her ankles... Heck, even the AIR tasted different all the way up here! It was so... bland... Bland and nippy... The first few nights, she had woken up terrified, not at all recognizing her NEW room... as her old one! In the wee hours of the morning, a child such as she expected the familiar... and had received an assumption of kidnapping! Of course, once she woke up and REALIZED where she was, those feelings went away but... still... Something was weird about this place... She just couldn't put her finger on it... Her Auntie was acting weird as well... distant, perhaps. For at least as long as they stayed here, Ayu had this weird look on her face, as if she were thinking about something, something... something she wasn't willing to share with Terra yet... and the Majin didn't know why... Was it something REALLY bad? like... REEEEEALLY bad? Was she afraid of how Terra might react...? Whatever the reason, the little pink Majin kept her mouth shut about what she'd noticed. Auntie wouldn't do something like this, moving them here and acting all weird, unless it was REALLY important. As her assistant, it was her job to make this EASIER for her and so she WILL!
...On the plus side, though, there was Mr. Popo. Terra... really didn't know what to make of Mr. Popo. He was quiet, tranquil even, most of the time, but there was this aura of mystery about him the little Majin simply couldn't resist! Terra would follow him around on his daily tasks, sometimes trying to keep hidden, sometimes not, simply observing... watching... waiting for him to do something. It wasn't as if she suspected Mr. Popo of anything nefarious (after all, Auntie seemed happy with him), but she just had to KNOW MORE about this guy! Whenever she asked directly, he only answered with "Mr. Popo is Mr. Popo." ...And THAT was why she was following him. It was a mystery to unravel, a story to unfold! She had to know... and ironically, she never got bored with her investigations! In fact, it was becoming one of her favorite past-times! Granted, Mr. Popo never did anything... especially interesting, merely watering the flowers, attending to Ayu, or patrolling the grounds in most cases... but it was always the anticipation, the WONDER if today would be the DAY he would slip up that kept her going! Sometimes, she wondered if he was in on her game. Every so often, he would look over his shoulder or in her direction as if scanning for stalkers, each time giving Terra JUST enough time to duck behind a hiding spot. His eyes would linger on that spot LONG enough for the Majin to wonder if she was caught... before going back to whatever he was doing. Maybe he was in on it... but Terra didn't dare call him on it! This was FUN and, even if she couldn't read it on his face, she liked to imagine he was having fun too!
It was early in the morning and Terra had, once again, woke to an assumption she was STOLEN AWAY IN THE NIGHT... only to realize she was just here, on the Lookout, like all the days before. The sun was just barely starting to peek over the horizon WAY DOWN BELOW judging by the warm yellow poking out over the rim of the Lookout... way earlier than when Terra normally woke up! ...She really needed to get used to this place... She needed her nappy-time... Stepping outside, Terra YAWNED and stretched her arms over her head... ONLY FOR HER EYES TO SNAP OPEN as a power ERUPTED OVER THE LOOKOUT! Now, Terra couldn't (yet) detect energy, not like how one might sense a presence... but she could feel WHATEVER THAT WAS exploding over the top of the lookout! Her head SNAPPED up and she saw... A REALLY HAIRY GUY SWELLING UP LIKE A BALLOON! It looked like his arms were gonna explode from how much his muscles inflated! Terra's stomach TIGHTENED in surprise and FEAR as the stranger muttered something to himself the little pink girl RUSHING inside to find her Auntie! SHE would know what to do!
"AUNTIE! AUNTIE!" Terra cried, finding her in the kitchen, looking... terrible... Did she sleep at all...? Terra almost stopped when she noticed that... Almost. "WEIRD BLONDE GUY GONNA BLOW UP ON ROOF!"

There were many things that Ayu was preparing herself for. For a serious talk. For future events. For more training that wasn't so different from what Callion was doing outside right now - but the first thing she needed to sharpen was her mind. And control, above everything else. The enemy won't ask her how she would feel about fighting, they won't listen to cries or amends of someone who did not wish to engage in battle... Simply, Ayu won't have a choice. She might not be the only one fighting, yet it didn't change the fact that she should be ready. It's not like there was anything else for her to do - the house she, Liari, and Terra loved was half-damaged, abandoned under the pressure of the desperately necessary training in the Lookout. She wasn't proud about losing her control there and she never had a chance to come around and fix it... Ayu almost forgot about her dream of attending university in East City or about peaceful, calm days. It all was out of her reach right now.
Some things needed her attention more than that. Ayu had to be prepared, to learn how to be useful, and to utilize what she had learned so far.
... She just didn't expect that Terra would run to her crying first thing in the morning.
Her stomach suddenly and very painfully dropped when she heard her voice and saw tiny pink Majin bolting inside the kitchen with a terrified expression. Calling for her, she ran into the room in a state of panic. Ayu's first thought was that somehow Terra realized the truth on her own before she had a chance to tell her about it, trying to break it gently... She learned everything with all the cruel details - her heart stopped for a moment in an ice-cold dread when thinking about this possibility. Now all the fear, pain, and grudges would be spilled and they will cry out their hearts but n-no, wait, that wasn't the case... The troubled and pained look that Ayu had on her face for a brief second melted away in an instant when she heard Terra scream about a weird blonde guy on the roof. Right, she didn't know Callion. His high energy created pressure in the air that even people not able to sense Ki could feel. It wasn't a surprise that it startled her niece... Ayu gave her a small glad smile and looked at her fondly, trying her best to hide the sadness in her eyes.
"It's alright Sweet Pea, he doesn't mean any harm," she explained patiently, stroking her head to help Terra calm down. She got down on one knee and gently scooped the girl in her arms, pulling her close into an embrace. How this tiny, happy-pink child could be so warm? It was like hugging a tiny, bubbly heater. It made her heart both lighter and heavier at the same time and she didn't want to let go of her... What if once she does, she'd lose another person she loved..? Ayu was glad that for this moment Terra's face was hidden in her shoulder because she wasn't sure if she could control her expression. No, she had to. For their sake. Taking a split second to calm herself, with a deep sigh and now calm face, Ayu lifted Terra, putting her weight on her waist and embracing her. She couldn't bring herself to leave that precious presence without a hug and it didn't feel right to put her back on the ground just yet. "Should we go say hello?" she asked gently. "I promise you, he won't explode, you'll see," Ayu soothed her uneasiness with a soft smile, walking out of the kitchen and climbing the stairs to the outer layer of the Lookout.
She just noticed but it seemed that both of them had a rough night. Callion didn't even enter lower levels of the Lookout for some rest and Ayu wasn't sure that she liked that. It was worrying, to be honest. He was a warrior, that was understandable and she herself couldn't fall asleep for obvious reasons - but to stay up training all night right after battling to the death? It didn't matter how amazing and miraculous the Senzu Beans were, mind needed rest too.
As they reached the top, Ayu's steps rippled the thin layer of water that was creating paddles on the floor. The air was fresh, just a little bit cool but the warm color of the sky was a promise of a nice day. The warrior was standing nearby the entrance, his aura still flaring in the calmness. He seemed to be so lost in thoughts that Ayu was sure that even calling him now won't catch his attention... They saw how the power calmed down and Callion's mane was black again, his energy lowered to base level. Hm... Both that silverish hue and the charcoal-like color suited him. Ayu blinked a bit and slowly shook her head, before approaching his side with her niece in her arms.
"See? There's nothing to worry about," she spoke gently to Terra. Ayu was aware that the Saiyan's posture and height could be intimidating but he was a calm and friendly individual - the little Majin with her bubbly personality would most likely waste no time if she could make another friend. "I'd like you to meet Callion, Sweet Pea. He's a friend and he certainly won't blow up the roof of the Lookout, right?" Her voice, as usual, was soft but above Terra's head, Ayu gave him a telling look and she smiled a little. With a gaze half-fond and half-sad, her eyes turned to the little girl in her arms, knowing that the most important part of today's conversation won't run away from them both. And even with all the affection and care she felt towards her, she could not protect her from the harsh truth... But she will protect her from everything else, with her life on the line.

Callion was in his own little world for a moment, the moment he had powered back down to his base level. With the danger and threat of Liari being over for now, the Saiyan had to push himself beyond the limits of his training. No matter what happens today and onwards, he could not allow himself to be left behind in the power department. Not anymore. The Saiyan refused to even so much as let a single more person die whenever he arrives on scene to deal with the villains, and those who threaten the very planet itself. For who can defend those who cannot look after themselves? His Saiyan blood and teachings of his ancestor bellowed of how only the strong survive and might makes right, and yet the other hands knew that there was no honour of such slaughter, for how can only become stronger if there were no people to rise to the challenge and fight? All such emotions and feelings were convoluted at best, and Callion could feel himself trying to concentrate on the most important thing that he saw made the most sense: The Protection and safety of the planet, the Earthlings that dwelled within, and those that he truly cared for the most in this universe.
From the moment, he could sense something. His ears perked up, and the Saiyan raised his head slightly, sensing the arrival of two power levels coming ever closer. It took a moment to turn himself around slowly, seeing Ayu at his side. Truly, she was a woman that always brightened his day, even amidst all this unwanted chaos and madness that had been plaguing across the planet recently. From those amber yellow eyes, green hair, green skin, and the remarkable personality of a mother like figure that he simply knew that the Saiyan had to protect at all cost, no matter what was going on. It was his obligation and duty to carry on such a burden, for if he failed to uphold and march on with such a task, then who would? Who can bear the weight of such a burden? Sure, there were those that can no doubt be up for the task, but for Callion such people would have to come and meet him in order to be judged by their merits and strength alone, Callion in his heart knew that dark times were ahead, but so long as there were those that would no doubt rise to the occasion, then there will always be hope.
He knew that such a fire had to remain lit, no matter what.
With the Saiyan’s eyes turned to Ayu, he spotted something in her arms, or perhaps someone… Was that a child? A young little one that rested comfortably? Callion blinked several times, before having his full attention…
…
Was that… A Majin Child…
This was unusual even by Ayu’s standards. Sure, he has heard by now that she had been looking after children of an UNSPECIFIED HYBRID SAIYANS NAME, but a Majin child? There was something peculiar, her face, it looks so… Familiar? That’s the moment he knew, that THIS was the child that Ayu was telling him about… Liari’s child; Terra.
For the first time in a while, he was speechless to finally meeting her face to face. How was he going to react? What even WAS the right reaction? Liari; the very Majin he helped train, fight, teach to being absorbed by her and watching her fall in South City somehow managed to make a child, and on top of that, he was finally meeting the little one for the first time since being told by Ayu that such a little bundle existed. Truly, mixed feelings were involved, some good, others … Well, truth be told, Callion had no idea what to even say or react. Callion stood frozen for a moment, unsure of what to do or say. He had never really been around children, let alone a Majin child, and he was not quite sure how to approach the situation. But then he noticed Ayu's gentle smile and reassuring look, and he knew that he had nothing to worry about.
So, with a fortified small smile on his face, the tall, muscular Saiyan lowered himself down, getting onto one knee to show he was not a threat to Terra in anyway shape or form. The Saiyan smiled at Terra, slowly and carefully waving at the little one. "Hey there, little one," he said softly, attempting to make his voice sound not like his usual self… But perhaps something of a genuine father-like figure. There was, one upon a time where he assumed himself to have somewhat of a limited time role of such a figure with Liari -albeit ruined by the Changelings… Maybe, perhaps just the slightest maybe, this could be an opening of a second chance? Get this little one trained right, help her growing up, teach her alongside Ayu with the other kids on the Lookout…
Maybe… Just maybe… He can do right with this little one along with the others.
He couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness as he looked at her. Terra was innocent and had nothing to do with Liari's actions. Yet, she would have to bear the weight of her mother's crimes and the stigma that came with being a Majin. Callion knew firsthand how it felt to be judged for something he had no control over. He did not want Terra to go through the same. No… Regardless to what had transpired at South City, the Sins of the Mother should never be passed onto the child, the Saiyan would be damned to hell if Terra had to suffer for that. For this moment, Callion decided to continue with his soft spoken voice, his calm demeanour and looked to Terra and Ayu whilst he knelt down onto one knee. “Nice to finally meet you, my name is Callion." he continued speaking in a gentle tone, remaining crouching down to be at eye level with the child.

...Terra stopped to wonder if she said something wrong because Ayu's response to the GIANT-INFLATABLE SAIYAN (who is golden for some reason) was to say he wasn't dangerous! While that was, in fact, good news, the poor little girl was FAR more concerned with the fact he was about to EXPLODE! The little pink girl SAW IT, his WHOLE BODY swelling up to like TWICE its size in a second (And he was already massive before), PULSATING with power as if he were about to BURST! It were as if Terra took a needle and poked him, he would go spinning around in the air in giant far-circles as he deflated!
"AUNTIEEEEEEE~!" Terra whined, marching rapidly in place to emphasize her urgency! "HE GONNA POP! WE GOTTA DO SOMETHIN'!" ...And again, Ayu would match Terra's energy with a much more subdued approach, scooping the little girl up in her arms and hugging her to her chest! Terra froze... then pressed herself into her Auntie, hugging her as tightly as she could... Terra had never seen someone blow-up before and she didn't WANNA see it! She wanted Mr. Hairy Saiyan to be okay but... HOW do they deflate him safely? Poke him with a really tiny, really sharp stick? Do they suck the air out of him? HOW do you stop a human balloon!? ...But Ayu assured her nothing could go wrong, that, actually, they should go meet him! Terra's heart hammered in her ears, clinging to her Auntie tighter than ever! But... But she didn't wanna meet the scary inflatable man! What if he blew up!? What if she shake his hand too hard and he POP!? The look of concern on Terra's face was utterly palpable, a cold sweat even starting to build over the Majin! ...But Ayu was determined... and Terra was carried with her!
...Almost like a magic trick, when they stepped outside again, the man was still there... except he wasn't gold anymore! His hair was BLACK and... he wasn't HUGE anymore! Well, granted, he stood head and shoulders over Terra SEVERAL times over and he was bulkier than ANYONE Terra had EVER seen... but he didn't look like he was gonna explode anymore! The Majin, blinked, SURE this had to be some kind of dream... but... NOPE! There the man stood, TOWERING over herself and even AUNTIE like a Saiyan giant!
He looked at Terra the same way she looked at him: a mix of uncertainty and confusion. For Terra, it was his look. HOW DID HE DO THAT SO FAST!? But more importantly: WHO WAS HE!? She'd never seen anyone like him before... or HAIR like his before! The man's mane was like that of a lion, only it hung around his shoulders rather than under his chin. His face was intense, like all Saiyans, though there was a certain tranquility about him that Terra couldn't quite place. He LOOKED like he could out-muscle just about anything in the universe and yet... he could also be as cuddly as a marshmallow. It was weird...
Kinda like Momma...
The man waved to Terra cautiously and, just as cautiously, Terra waved back, allowing her guard to settle for a moment. He... he didn't look like he was gonna explode anymore... Maybe... Maybe she should go up and greet him properly...? If Ayu would let her, Terra would hope down to the ground and approach the stranger, having to bend REALLY FAR BACK so that she could lock eyes with his! JEEPERS, he was tall... Almost as tall as Momma, it felt like! As if noticing the difference, the stranger would kneel down before her, having to drop REALLY LOW so that their eyes could comfortably lock on one another! He introduced himself as "Callion..." And instantly, a SPARK of memory flashed through Terra's head! A leftover from her Momma's memory, a vague scene flashed before the majin's mind. A monk of incredible strength was fighting... a MUCH smaller version of Momma, beating her up handily... trying to teach her... AND fight her! She could see his hunger for battle in his eyes, INTENSE... but controlled... and then...
"...OOOOOH! I KNOW YOU... I THINK!" Terra exclaimed! "HOW YOU DO THAT!? HOW YOU TURN INTO BIG BALLOON-MUSCLE-MAN? HOW YOU TURN GOLD!? HOW YOU KNOW AUNTIE!? HOW-" A million questions spilled out of Terra like sand-grains out of a smashed hourglass. She just had to know! Her defensiveness ALL but deflated after realizing he was a friend of her mother's and to her, that pretty much made him an uncle of sorts! The barrage of questions would fall on Callion harder than any barrage of punches... before Terra would realize... SHE HADN'T INTRODUCED HERSELF YET!
"I Terra! Nice to meetcha!" She greeted, reaching out and shaking the GIANT'S hand vigorously! "Momma always like you! You SCARY... but she like you!"

Child's imagination was one thing that had no bounds at all - for better or worse. It was running wild, blurring the line between dreams and reality. There were days when Ayu could read Terra bedtime stories and the little one would then ask where fairies or princesses lived. They had fun pretending to use magic spells or looking for pixies in the forest, making tiny houses out of clay pots... This world already had some magic in it but not of this kind, not the one that children believed in. Most of the time, that is. But it brightened any day and brought a warm smile to her face to see Terra so happy. She wanted to keep that magic alive for her - and here was the other side of the coin, when reasoning with a child's fear was difficult and scary. So worried was the little one, that despite her assurance she clung to her arms, trembling and sweating in face of the unknown. That worried her... In this family, she was the anxious one, not her niece. Ayu's eyes softened and she kissed the top of Terra's head, stroking her back to calm her down as she cradled her in her embrace.
"I swear, Sweetie, he won't," she said soothing her in a reassuring tone. "Nothing like that will happen, I promise," she added gently. The last thing that Ayu would do was belittle Majin's worries but she tried to show her that she believes in her concerns, no matter what they would be. Maybe then Terra would calm down a bit, but it didn't seem to work... Seems that she needed to meet Callion in person to understand that he wasn't a threat. Perhaps then it would work? In the little one's defense, with his energy flaring like that the Saiyan's muscles indeed were swelling like balloons and the pressure inflicted by the power was intimidating. Though it prickled her heart a bit that she couldn't reassure Terra like she always did before... Maybe at this point, Ayu should get used to her words and actions not making any difference in others' eyes.
... That sudden thought slipped inside her mind and waited to ring in her ears. What was she even thinking about now..?
It wasn't the time for that. Carrying Terra, they both were ready to meet Callion now and Ayu was watching the Majin's reaction. The girl was a little confused, that's true, but it lasted only a second. Feeling how she started to wriggle in her arms Ayu leaned down so Terra hopped on the floor and was now safely standing between them. She stroked her head softly before she watched the tiny Majin prance toward Callion with big, sparkling eyes. All the worry and shyness melted away in an instant as expected. There was something cute in this size difference... Terra craned her neck to look at the Saiyan's face, staring in awe and curiosity, her gestures showing excitement and it just looked precious. Meanwhile, to not tower over her, the warrior got onto one knee and even then, with his wild hair and broad shoulders, it looked like Terra was standing face to face with a muscular bear. Ayu could feel herself smiling a little, a fond expression in her eyes. She remained standing in the same spot, three feet away with her hands joined behind her, as she watched their interaction.
While her niece was throwing her questions one after another at Callion, he was calmly looking at her. How could he feel, knowing that Terra was Liari's daughter? There were probably even more questions and worries that this knowledge would spark. Ayu didn't want to bring Terra here without a warning but she couldn't ease her worry about Callion blowing up or popping like an overinflated balloon. It just... Happened. But it didn't phase him in the slightest. His voice sounded gentler than usual, reminding her of that one time when he comforted her after she was recovering from the first energy outbreak. He was a Saiyan, she knew very well how fierce he could get in battle, but he was still a calm and kind soul, one that valued life and peace.
They introduced themselves and Ayu tilted her head a little. Sweet Pea attacked him with all her questions and just as she said her name and added the part about Liari, she again felt her stomach drop.
The Majin race was a mystery, with their biology, absorptions, and taking traits of people they have eaten. And the memories... That was something else. And new. Right now, Liari hated her, she had her reasons. Her words were ringing in Ayu's ears and when she closed her eyes the flaming glare was piercing her head. She wouldn't mind if the whole hatred would be poured at her - back then in South City, the blue Majin called Callion a thing wearing his skin, so she wasn't sure how she saw him anymore. Getting back from death was an unusual concept on its own. Ayu wouldn't like to see this relationship break but then again, she didn't care what she wanted. But maybe Liari wouldn't mind talking to Callion? It would be good if someday she could still meet him again... Maybe. Maybe not. Out of every people Ayu couldn't save the one she wanted to save the most, she messed up, she hurt her, and... And here Ayu was, thinking again too much, adding salt to the wounds. Her gaze drifted to the side, watching the clouds above the edge of the Lookout.
Still, Terra was born before all this mess. Despite what occurred in the West, Liari always had respect for the Saiyan, regretting being deceived and absorbing him while thinking that she could save him by doing so. If the little had this feeling faintly imprinted on her, it seemed to be a good memory... That was a relief.
"I'll b-be right back," Ayu said after a moment, turning around so they wouldn't see her face, and started walking towards the stairs to the lower levels.
Maybe she should give them a moment to get to know each other. In the meantime, she was going to make some more tea. She felt like they would need it.

So sweet and innocent was the young Majin child Terra, it was positively adorable and at the same time, it was completely eating away at the Saiyan’s heart. How in the sweet name of Kami, Kai and any Gods above was Callion and Ayu going to tell her that her mother; who completely terrorised the entirety of South City had been put down? His tail slightly lowered away from Terra’s vision and quivered in the fear of having to inform the small child, let alone Ayu might having to be the one to tell her of her mother Liari. Then there was the very aspect of breaking little Terra’s heart. How does one even start telling her the news in the first place? She had only just MET the Saiyan, and for him to start immediately informing the child Majin right off the bat? How would she even trust him again, let alone Ayu for that matter, then the two would be dealing with a Second Liari situation all over again, and that was something he absolutely refused with every fibre of his being to allow once again. He had to at least stall for time, and try to get along with Terra for the moment.
Callion took the moment to quietly breath in with his nose and exhale, his ridiculously long Saiyan tail raising and swaying freely once more, as he took on a smiling face infront of Terra once more. Callion chuckled softly at Terra's enthusiastic greeting, his lion-like mane swaying with the movement. "It's a pleasure to meet you too, Terra," he replied warmly, his deep voice rumbling like distant thunder. "And don't worry, I won't blow up on you." His continued to smile, lifting his left hand, and if allowed, he’d gently pet her on her delicate little pink head. "Your mother… Well, I like to think that your mother is a dear friend of mine, and I'm glad to see she has a daughter as brave as you… I liked your mother a lot you see."
Callion said, still holding onto Terra's hand with his other hand with the other one being on her head. "As for your questions, little one, I'm afraid I can't answer all of them. Turning into a ‘big balloon-muscle-man’ is just one of the many abilities that Saiyans possess, and turning gold is a transformation unique to some of us. That is what we call a ‘Super Saiyan’, It makes us stronger and changes the colour of our hair, but it can be a bit... powerful if we're not practicing on how to use it properly. As for how I know your Auntie Ayu, well, let's just say we go way back." The Saiyan looked left and right, hoping that Ayu wasn’t around as he leaned forward to whisper to the little Majin.
“Between you and me, I think your auntie Ayu has a crush on me, I wanna have some fun with some small, harmless little teasing.”
The Saiyan snickered with a toothy grin, slowly pulling back as he moved his hand that was on the Majin’s head away from her head, placing those giant hands of his onto his hips, taking on a softer but serious tone on his face as he looked down at Terra, his lion-like features taking on a warm, paternal glow. "I am not lying when I say your mother wa- is a very special person to me, and I'm sure you are too. You have her courage and her spirit, and that's something to be proud of." He nearly made a slip of the tongue if he were to accidentally say it in a past-tense, though he managed to make a good save. Callion then started with ruffling Terra's Majin tentacle hair gently with one massive hand, a smile playing at the corners of his lips. "And who knows, maybe one day you'll be as strong as your mother and your auntie. With your spirit and determination, anything is possible."
That’s when an idea appeared onto Callion’s head, blinking at little Terra several times. If she truly had the memories of Liari – at least the good ones – then perhaps she may have the small desire to train. “Speaking of which Terra. Tell me, have you been taking lessons from Ayu? Education? Meditation? Or even some good old fashion physical training? I can sense it on you that you are stronger than your mother back when she was your size.”
Callion watched as waited to see Terra’s reaction to his question, wanting a desire to see if she really liked the idea of training – though in his heart he knew he was going to have to be incredibly careful in handling Terra if they were to have a little training session. He chuckled softly, patting her head once more before continuing. "Ah, don't worry, little one. I'm not trying to make you feel bad or anything. I just sense a lot of potential in you, and I thought maybe you might be interested in learning some new things."
He paused for a moment, thinking of how best to approach the subject. He didn't want to push the child too hard, but he also didn't want to let her potential go to waste. "You know, training can be really fun. It's not just about getting stronger, it's also about learning new things, pushing yourself to be better, and making new friends along the way." Callion remained crouched down so that he was at Terra's eye level, his tail swishing behind him. "What do you say, Terra? Would you be interested in learning some new things with me? I promise I'll make it fun and not too hard." He gave her a warm smile, hoping to convince her to give it a try.
As he waited for her response, Callion couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building inside him. He loved training and teaching, and the thought of passing on his knowledge to a young and eager student was thrilling. He hoped that Terra would say yes and that he could help her become even stronger than her mother.

Lo and Behold, Ayu... was RIGHT! Callion DIDN'T explode! If anything, he SHRANK, as if he just reabsorbed ALLL of that energy (air...?) that puffed him up the way it did! AMAZING! Terra knew her momma could do something similar! This one time, she plugged all her holes and held her breath and she puffed UP into a big spherical shape! She floated there, tail hanging down like a big ol' balloon-lady! Terra couldn't stop laughing for DAYS whenever she saw her Momma after that! ...But Callion had been different! Terra KNEW her momma could handle it! She saw her do things with her body that NOBODY ELSE could do! She could mold herself into anything, stretch FARTHER than Terra could see, FLY one way... then appear BEHIND her when she turned around... Her momma was INCREDIBLE!
Callion...? He was a Saiyan, right? How could he DO that like how her momma could do that? Weeeeeeeeirrrrrrd... Terra would let Ayu down so she and Callion could have their interaction, her Auntie slipping back inside... Terra couldn't help but feel a SHARP tonal shift as her auntie left the scene, almost as if she took with her a BIG storm-cloud that was about to drop a waterfall of rain all over her! Terra watched her go, concern flashing across her face... Something was wrong and she didn't know what. ...That was bad. Bad, bad, bad. Terra didn't like it when she knew she didn't know things. It felt like everyone else was keeping secrets, like SHE wasn't supposed to know something! Well... She could know! She could keep secrets! She was a BIG GIRL NOW! Terra was half-tempted to follow behind her auntie, PESTER HER for the source of her vexation... only Callion stepped in swiftly to stop that from happening!
Immediately, Callion re-captured Terra's attention as he noted how highly he considered her mother. Her head swiveled to attention upon the giant monk-monkey, her eyes wide with wonder.
"Reeeeeally?" She asked, clasping her hands together in wonder! "Wowie! She like you LOTS but... I not ever think she ever say that... 'friend...' She actually kinda afraid of you, actually...." Terra giggled, to herself, recalling that fragment of them training. "You really beat her up! But she like you!" Ah, the innocence and honesty of children... Terra couldn't help it! It was like catching up with an old uncle she never met... at least, Callion gave off those vibes! He engaged with her gently, answering ALL of her questions, already making himself out to seem smart... or at least, smarter than her! He told her of his balloon-man transformation, how it was called "Super Saiyan", how it made them stronger and turned them YELLOW for some reason! Terra's wide eyes blinked in both wonder... but there was also an obvious sign of blankness in them! Terra had NO IDEA WHAT was going on, but she knew for CERTAIN she was excited by it! ...But her real confusion came when Callion brought up her Auntie, how they went WAY BACK!
"...I not understand." Terra stated, her excitement giving over entirely to her confusion! "...You right here and she over there... Not that far away..." She wiggled her hand at Ayu's direction. ...Then Callion claimed... AYU WAS CRUSHING ON HIM! Terra blinked again, her eyes growing ever blanker! "...But auntie not even crush bug... She no crush you, Uncy Callion! You too big to step on!" The majin spread her arms WIDE over her head as if to encompass Callion's MASSIVE figure, then glancing over her shoulder at where her auntie went! He must've been like.... DOUBLE Ayu's size or something! NO WAY Auntie could crush ON him!
Callion must've decided to go back to where things made sense because he hopped back to the topic of Liari! He... seemed to hesitate as he picked out what he was trying to say, mixing up "was" with "is" as if her momma was gone or something! What a silly mistake! Even TERRA didn't make those mistakes... a lot. Terra smirked. Silly Uncy. Her momma was still here! SHE KNEW SHE WAS! ...But where...? Anyway, Callion stated how important the two of them were to her, how Terra possessed Liari's inner strength! The majin grinned proudly, resting her fists on her hips as she puffed out her chest!
"Momma is best teacher!" Terra proclaimed! "I learn lots from her! She make me who am now!" Callion would muse that Terra had the potential to grow as strong as her Momma and Auntie one day, Terra blushing a little at the compliment. "Naaaaw! They TOOOOOO strong! I get strong too though... but they always stronger than me. It okay! I no mind!" It would be then that Callion drifted to the topic that all saiyans do: TRAINING! Specifically, what kind she did and who trained her to do it! Terra narrowed her eyes as she touched her chin with her finger in thought... She could just say her Momma taught her again... but maybe he wanted the most recent guy....?
"Old turtle-man on Island teach me!" Liari proclaimed, hunching over and folding her hands behind her back as if mimicking the geezer! She then cupped rings around her eyes with her fingers "He wear big shell on back, wear weird glasses! Look like he live since forever! Teach me how to glow bright! Terra raised her hands up by the sides of her head, fingers fanning outward towards her face!
"SOL FLARE-" Terra began... ONLY FOR AN EXPLOSION TO GO OFF IN HER FACE! "AAAAACK!" She cried, falling on her butt, her face now stained black with soot! She blinked her eyes rapidly, hacking up dark clouds from her lungs... then bursting out into laughter! "HAHA! I not do it right yet! Still learning!" Callion promised he wasn't trying to make her feel bad, rather, trying to point out her potential! Training could be FUN, if she came at it from the right angle!
"I know! Momma always make it game! We have lottsa fun!" Terra exclaimed, nodding her head eagerly! "Strong is nice! Wanna be with Auntie, though... she so sad for some reason... Wanna make her happy!" It would be then that Callion would make his proposal: Would Terra like to learn some things from him? WOULD she like to train under him?
"So long as we not too far from Auntie!" Terra stated, countering Callion's proposal! "No worry! She not crush you!"

Post by Ayu on Mar 24, 2023 16:23:01 GMT -5
Silently walking down the stairs to the kitchen, Ayu found herself noticing the thoughts slowly slipping away from her mind. It was rather hard to break from the layer of dark memories that started to pile up one on another but she couldn't really dwell on that too much. The past mistakes and misjudgments ought to be fixed but not to torment herself with. Nothing good would come of wallowing in self-loathing or doubt, no - she had to act, not sit in the corner again. She couldn't let the most important thing out of her sight while distracted by her guilt. There were children she wished to protect. People she loved and cared about. The planet she wanted to continue living on - and to do that, she needed to be strong. It wasn't about physical power but a mental one, her heart, her mind, and her soul needed to be tempered in what has happened to come out harder and more resistant than ever before. Maybe she needed that push - maybe Ayu would need another one to fight. But for now, this feeling had to set, to solidify, and tearing up won't fix anything, period.
No, she couldn't worry them. Ayu had to manage on her own. It would be hard but... As much as she longed for some comfort and support herself, it was time to take this burden away from others. She had no right to give anyone more to shoulder, if anything, she should be strong enough to help others. And for that, she needed to prepare. It wouldn't be right to hide away from those she cared about but there were things she had to take care of on her own.
Taking a deep breath, she entered the kitchen, trying to clear her mind. Her hands moved on their own as she picked a large tray, putting there a wide bowl. Sensing the energies above being calm, Ayu could already tell that Callion and Terra were getting along beautifully. There was no way that with her cheerful personality, her little niece won't take a liking to the Saiyan... And there was no doubt that the affection would be returned. A small smile bloomed on her face without her being aware as she was filling a pot with spring water. Right, Ayu wanted to make some tea. She prepared three cups while the spring water was heating up on the stove, steam gently dancing in the air. In the meantime, she filled the bowl with various fruits as teatime snacks, cutting two apples into slices and shaping the peel to make them into Terra's favorite apple bunnies. She did so without noticing, only after a moment blinking to see an apple snack in her hand... Ayu sighed a little. Old habits die hard, even if long weeks have passed like it was nothing.
With clear water boiled, she waited for it to cool down enough so she could pour it over fresh tea leaves in the teapot. The plant itself sprouted in her hands and Ayu picked the green and fragrant foliage herself, preparing them for steeping. More often she was making herbal teas at home and even if she could make any plant with her Ki, it just didn't feel right to not have it freshly harvested from her garden - she missed her little safe space. No matter, any tea was good in her book. After a few minutes, she poured green tea into the cups, adding a hearty spoonful of honey into the smallest one - after making sure that the beverage cooled down enough. Terra was still little, she preferred sweet foods and drinks - even if there were no astringency in the tea, Ayu knew that it would be more palatable to her niece... Maybe she was spoiling her, just a little..?
A small break like this helped her collect her thoughts and calm down the thoughts swirling inside her head.
With everything ready, she picked up the tray and climbed back the stairs, walking toward the tall and muscular Saiyan and the small, pink Majin. The contrast between them made their interaction heartfelt and touching. Ayu knew that his size changed after almost dying in the South City, but there was no better description for Callion than gentle giant. That is, as long as he wasn't taking part in a serious fight.
"I'm back," she said as she approached with her hands full. Being unaware of what they were previously talking about, Ayu glanced first at the warrior and then at her niece. And she was... She couldn't help but chuckle warmly while looking at Terra's adorable, round face that was smothered with soot all over... How did it happen? No harm was done and it's not like Callion would allow anything, but it still was a charmingly funny scene. Ayu's expression brightened and she raised her eyebrows while looking at Terra with a fond but amused expression. "Sweetie, your cheeks are all dirty... Like that time when the vacuum cleaner broke and we both were covered in dust," she smiled gently, remembering a scene from where they were doing chores around their small home in East Continent near the forest. An old, nearly ancient piece of equipment died of natural causes and from the cracks the dust escaped, covering everything around them... That week was full of cleaning and doing laundry and they both often sneezed through those days.
A sweet memory she won't let turn bitter.
"Let me help, come here," a small vine appeared next to Ayu, curling the ends into a flat surface so she could place the full tray on it. Pulling out a clean handkerchief from her pocket and getting down on one knee, she raised her hand toward Terra. "I almost can't see any pink," she softly and playfully poked her right cheek, a smear of soot staining her green fingerprint. Oh, that was a thick layer... Ayu pulled her closer to carefully wipe down the other side of Terra's face, making sure that the strokes were gentle. The white cloth was getting stained quickly but the pink and rubbery cheeks were getting cleaner. From up close she noticed that the soot has stained the sides of her shoulders and her chin too. Almost like something blew up in her face? She did feel a little jump of energy while she was preparing tea but Ayu was so focused she didn't pay it too much attention... "What were you trying to show to Callion that got you covered in soot like that, Sweet Pea?" she asked openly, a small and warm yet pensive smile not leaving corners of her lips. Of course that she wouldn't scold her, she just wanted to know what happened that she had to take on this uneven fight with the stains on Terra's cheeks.
Hm... It seemed that this one would need some water and soap.

Did… Did Terra just call Callion, ‘Uncy Callion?’ Did the Saiyans heart just skip a beat from something so precious? It had to take a lot of internal strength just from not having a heart attack by those words along and so, he took a deep breath and slowly exhaled before continuing on with the conversation, especially how she got the somewhat concept of Ayu having a Crush on Callion wrong. “No, no, little one. Not that kind of Crush. You see, when I said that ‘Ayu has a crush on me’, it means that she likes me… Or She loves me.” Callion had to attempt in explaining it in simple words, as he reached out to attempt in picking Terra up for a moment and placing her down sitting on his knee that he knelt on, placing his right hand on her back to keep her stable and safe. “Though then again, you’re not wrong. I know for a fact that Auntie Ayu is INCREDIBLY strong, and she has enough power to really do something awesome and amazing… Don’t tell her I said that.”
That was something that what he heard next completely surprised him and also concenred. She was also training under Master Roshi; very much like how Tanya was being taught by the old man. Now, Callion knew that the pervert trainer was also a fan of the opposite sex, but hearing that she was being taught by him of all people… Really made the Saiyan felt unease… Though he was sure Roshi at least had sense to not be doing anything Questionable to her right? Otherwise, even the former student himself was going to be having words.
That fear was basically put at ease when he witnessed Terra perform a Solar Flare technique, and watched it as it blowed up in her face. Callion chuckled at Terra's innocence and enthusiasm, finding it refreshing and endearing. He gently petted her on the head gently, smiling at the little Majin. “Don’t you worry, you’ll master the technique no problem. In fact, you managed to surpass me with that technique, because I never had the chance to learn it myself! Hahahahah.” The Saiyan admitted to her, as the two shared a little laughing moment between one another, and it only made it more enjoyable when Terra agreed to the training, her only condition her self being not too far. "Don't worry, little one, we won't go too far from your Auntie," he assured her with a smile. “We’ll be right here, safe within the Lookout.”
He then leaned in, conspiratorially, "You know, I could teach you something really cool. Something that even your Momma and Auntie might not know how to do..." He paused for dramatic effect, then continued,
"The Kamehameha!"
Though just before Callion could Terra the Kamehameha technique, the very mentioned Ayu arrived. Callion watched with amusement as Ayu interacted with Terra, her gentle touch and playful words was truly motherly in every sense of the word. He couldn't help but feel a warmth in his chest as he watched them, grateful for the bond they shared. When Ayu asked what happened, Callion chuckled softly. "Terra was trying to show me the Solar Flare technique, but clearly it blew up in her face. I didn’t know she was taking lessons from my old Master Roshi.”
he explained, a small grin on his face. "But don't worry, Ayu. No one was hurt, and I made sure to check on Terra just for safety, encase she wasn’t harmed in anyway.” He looked down at Terra, his eyes softening. "You did a good job though, Terra. Maybe next time you’ll have that technique fully in the bag, I have full confidence in you and your training.”
Perhaps for the first time in such a long time, Callion couldn't help but feel grateful for the two girls in his life, Terra and Ayu. They brought him a sense of peace and comfort that he didn't know he needed until he met them. He took a sip of his tea, savoring the warmth that spread through his body. "Thank you for the tea, Ayu. It's delicious…," he said, smiling at her gratefully with a wink, before silently whispered just enough for Ayu to hear, “… Just like you are delicious…” he said, his deep voice carrying a sense of gratitude but also a flirty, seductive tone in his voice.
Callion may have been a warrior, but he also knew the importance of rest and relaxation, along with having a sense of spice and romance in his life. And there was no better way to do that than with good company and a warm cup of tea, and being in the ever loving presence of ayu.
“If anything, I was just about to teach Terra the Kamehameha technique. I thought for someone of her age if she is already learning the Solar Flare, she should be ready and capable of learning the technique in her own right, and I believe it’s high time that the girl should know such a move encase she needs to protect herself and you.” Callion spoke in a fatherly tone, he put down his tea and leaned forward, placing a hand on Terra’s head with a gentle smile.
“I want to make sure she’s prepared for anything, you know how unpredictable our lives can be as warriors,” he added, looking back up at Ayu. “But I promise, I had it under control. We were just about to start practicing the stance when she accidentally activated the technique, and well...you can see the rest,” he said with a chuckle.
Callion’s expression then turned serious as he addressed Ayu directly. “But I also wanted to talk to you about something. I know we’ve been through a lot together, and I’ve always tried my best to be there for you and Terra. But lately, I’ve been feeling like I haven’t been doing enough. I want to do more, I want to protect you both better,” he said, his voice sincere and determined. “I know I can’t always be around, especially with my duties as a warrior, in fact I have plans to go to the Planet Yardrat to do even more extensive training. But I want to make sure that you both are safe, no matter what. So I’ve been thinking of ways to increase our security and strengthen our defenses. I’ve been looking at revitalising the Z-Fighters, and I am wondering if the two of you would like to join it?” he explained, looking at Ayu with a hopeful expression.
“I just wanted to talk to you about it and get your input. What do you think?” he asked, remaining standing and taking a sip of his tea.

"Ooooooh..." Terra drawled, her eyes widening with surprise... THEN understanding... Then narrowed in confusion... "...But wait... Why you not say that then...? 'Crushing' not sound like love... sound like not like so you crush!" Terra demonstrated what she meant by CLAPPING her hands together, grinding her palms against one another as if crushing a bug! "...It so weird... No crush people you like... Hug them instead!" Callion would then scoop Terra up like the giant he was and rest her upon his knee, allowing her to sit upon his leg as if it were a log in the woods! He would note how STRONG her auntie was, how she could do great things in the world... and not to tell her he said that! Again, Terra's head tilted in confusion.
"...But she know that already..." Terra mumbled, scratching her head, perplexed! "...She afraid of power because she has TOO MUCH power! Know she wanna not make it look that way... Wanna be like people in cities: not TOO strong... just kinda normal. She and Momma talked lots about it before... Heard sometimes when going to sleep." Terra then looked up at the giant Saiyan curiously. "...She hide from you, Uncy Cal? Why she do that...?"
Callion would then take the time to compliment the majin on her use of the Solar Flare, assuring her that she'd get it in time and, in fact, he never even LEARNED the move when he was training under Roshi! Terra blushed softly and giggled, squirming as the compliment touched her ears!
"Grampy Roshi say same thing! Say I just need to do it more! I get it after a bit!" Terra confirmed nodding her head! "He also have this really COOL blue-blast-beam too he tell about! He only teach move to student he like and said he might teach me one day! ...No remember name, though... It long... start with letter 'K...'" And like that, Callion would take this moment to offer to teach HER the technique personally! Roshi's signature: The KAMEHAMEHA! Terra widened, her eyes SPARKLING with excitement at the idea! ...Maybe Grampy would be disappointed knowing that his favorite technique was being passed down by someone other than himself... Maybe Terra would have to explain how she knew it when she went back to learn how to throw Energy-Pizzas but... She kinda NEEDED to know that move now, didn't she!?
"Yaaaaay!" Terra proclaimed! "Learn how to shoot turtle beam! Wanna! I can do it! I do it real good!" Before Terra could get SUUUUUPER attached to the idea, though, Ayu would return, asking WHY Terra was so dirty all of a sudden! She looked just like that time their vacuum blew up! Terra laughed, remembering how the old thing gave out on them, BURSTING open and spraying the WHOLE PLACE full of dust! The house had went from looking lived-in to abandoned for YEARS with one mechanical failure! ...Boy, the hours Terra spent with Ayu just making the place comfortable to live in again were almost uncountable! The little majin would giggle as Ayu lightly touched her finger to her face, drawing off a black stain of soot! She wanted to know what could dirty her up so bad!
"Sol flare!" Terra exclaimed, raising her hands up to her face to show her! ...Before she could provide a demonstration, though, Callion would step in, quickly explaining how she was trying to show him a technique she learned from Roshi, that nobody was hurt! Terra nodded eagerly at her Auntie, showing that what her Uncy was saying was true!
"Yuh-huh! Grampy Roshi teach me lots! Learn how to flash BRIGHT light! Hurt eyes of bad people!" Terra explained eagerly! "He REALLY smart! Wanna learn lots from 'im! Maybe you come too! He help you learn to be good people-watcher!" "Guardian" was the word... but Terra hadn't learned it yet. Sometimes she would see her Auntie and that Dende-guy looking over the edge of the lookout as if they could see the WHOLE WORLD below them... as if they could pick out the individual people! Sometimes, even, Terra would sit beside her Auntie, her feet hanging off the edge as she tried to see what THEY could see... except, she could never make it past the clouds that hugged the lookout's tower below! POINT BEING, maybe Roshi could help Ayu get her power under control! Maybe she wouldn't have to be afraid anymore!
As Terra mused over this possibility, Callion would express his confidence in the little girl and her training, causing a fresh blush and squirm to flash through Terra! She would then hop off Callion's lap to go up to her Auntie, hugging her close and... accidentally, smearing her face-soot ALL across her belly! She couldn't help it! She felt her Auntie needed a hug so... She gave one! Terra... DID almost catch something though... Callion, after enjoying a sip of Ayu's Lookout-famous tea, he would lean in to whisper something, Terra only catching the microfragments of words... as if seeing the outline but not the detail of what he was saying! Terra looked up at the saiyan, staring at him as if the answer was somewhere on his face... before looking back up at Ayu, trying to see if there was any trace of it on hers! Terra didn't like secrets... She felt she could know ANYTHING the adults could know and it'd be okay! Whatever Callion said to her... Terra was just too curious not to know!
Smooth as a stone, however, Callion would transition back to their previous topic, remarking how Terra might very well be ready for the Kamehameha given her current progress! Terra would nod eagerly, the widest, go-getting-grin on her face!
"Yeah! I shoot big turtle-beam!" Terra proclaimed, THRUSTING her hands out in some poor imitation of the signature pose! Her head was then nearly enveloped by the hand Callion had rested upon it, Terra nuzzling upwards into his palm like a pleased cat asking for more pets!
...And then... suddenly... the mood turned serious. Terra could feel it in how the air suddenly grew heavy, the light-hearted moment stopping dead for at least this moment. Callion remarked how the life of warriors could be unpredictable at times, and that he didn't feel like he was "doing enough." Terra blinked, glancing between the two adults. There was some tension here... but she wasn't sure if it was meant for either of them exactly... Callion explained that he would be going away for a while to "Yardrat" (sounded like the sound you make when you throw up badly...) but, to keep everyone safe while he was gone, he wanted to make a ground... "The Z-Fighters" to do it! He offered his hand out to both of them and invitation... and... really, what what other answer could Terra offer than-
"I join! I help GOOD!" Terra proclaimed, shooting her fists over her head in excitement! "Protect Earth! Protect Auntie! Protect Uncy! That what heroes do! I be BIG HERO! Join Z-Fighters!"

The handkerchief that Ayu used to clean Terra's face was becoming less white but it didn't seem that the cheeks were going to return to their previous, pink and clean state. The soot was simply too dense... It didn't feel right to give up but she made a mental note that soon enough she was going to give her niece a bubbly bath with a healthy dose of scrubbing. So far it seemed that those two started to bond and dragging the little one to the bathroom wouldn't be fair when they both had so much fun. Ayu really had a hard time remembering that for people with high power levels fun was something, too often to her liking, extreme. They couldn't get hurt as easily so sparring and juggling rocks was something normal. She kept forgetting about that - or she was simply too worried about their well-being where she shouldn't be, still having the mindset from before her abilities awaken. It was hard to change that.
"It blew in your face..?" Ayu looked at Terra cautiously, worried, but aside from getting dirty, she was perfectly fine. How could a technique backfire like that... Well, she knew how but luckily it wasn't anything as heavy as her lack of control, just a bit of soot and a small cough. Stroking her rubbery cheek, Ayu smiled reassured, "I'm sure that after some training you'd be able to show me how it works. Master Roshi sounds like a great teacher - you can later demonstrate to me everything you learned so far, what do you say?" She would gladly see what the pink Majin has mastered so far. After offering that, Ayu glanced at Callion and nodded her head. Even if the not-yet-fully learned technique would have worse effects, he was there for a reason. "Thank you. I know she'd be in good hands," she admitted fondly, trying one last time to get out that smeared soot and finally leaving Terra's cheeks in peace. Maybe she was too busy cleaning her face that she didn't realize that her tone sounded a bit too affectionate... But her attention was once again grabbed by her niece. She suggested that Ayu, a people-watcher, could learn something from Master Roshi. First, she would have to finish mastering Far Seeing Arts... But she couldn't help but press her lips against the tip of Terra's head in a small kiss. "Thank you, Sweetheart, I'll think about it if it's your advice," she smiled at her. The little one was really looking for ways to help her, even if she wasn't fully aware of what was going on with Ayu's power. That was enough to warm her heart and start to soothe the fears from yesterday.
Getting up and folding the handkerchief in four before hiding it in her pocket for washing later, Ayu looked at Callion who was enjoying some tea. Now it felt like a peaceful and homely moment when they were enjoying their time on the Lookout. It was nice...
"You're welcome," she replied after his thanks, getting a little shy about the praise. "Make yourself at hom-" and here Ayu had to pause suddenly when a certain whisper tickled her ear.
... There was a split second of silence and feeling how her cheeks are starting to burn, Ayu's hand stroked her braid shyly. The dark pink flush was growing more vivid while she was looking away from Callion's black, piercing eyes. W-Was he grinning again? Whatever he meant by using this low and warm tone, her heart stopped for a moment and then started beating way too fast. She couldn't say anything back nor even ask about the equally bashful and confusing choice of words... Turning her head away she entangled her fingers in the green braid and pulled it closer, to hide half of her face behind the locks. Why was she even getting so flustered in the first place..? That was just a-a joke or- Ah, she didn't know as her head felt like it was going blank from all that heat. The blush was already painted all over Ayu's cheeks but hopefully, by turning away, she could avoid Terra's curious eyes and Callion's wink or grin... Though in reality that was a faint hope.
And, well... This time she noticed it - a sense of déjà vu that was enhanced by the sensation of flowers appearing. Around the tip of her head blossoms began to sprout, creating a natural flower crown adorning Ayu with delicate blooming buds. At first, she didn't realize it but something told her to let go of her braid and raise her hand to carefully feel around her hair. Her fingers stroked gentle petals of white peonies, the light red carnations felt warm in contact with her skin, and the round and flatter flowers could only be a handful of tiny and bright sunflowers. Her own power was putting her in a tight spot once more. Oh no. Ayu blinked, and her blush turned more nervous and bashful than before... Nonetheless, a small, shy smile bloomed there too.
"A-Again..." she whispered, embarrassed she rubbed her cheek, hoping that the dark rose hue will fade soon. "P-Pardon me, t-that happens s-sometimes..." she tried to chuckle. After that short explanation, she stroked her hair, the flowers disappearing and breaking down into a handful of colorful petals that fell onto the ground. Shaking the reminiscent of this abashment, Ayu still found it hard to make eye contact with Callion, so she gladly focused on the new subject they put their attention to.
And it was about teaching Terra an offensive technique. That was something she was considering herself but Ayu didn't know anything about combat as she lacked the warrior's instinct and eagerness to fight. Terra was able to use flora-themed attacks but teaching her Chlorokinesis could be troublesome. If anything, she was relieved that Callion was the one teaching her niece - he was a dependable person. She'd hate to ask him for anything but he suggested giving a lesson himself and Terra was so preciously excited, she couldn't take away from them this bonding time. Though a prickling sensation of worry hurt her side. Maybe it was just phrasing but... Ayu did not want to put the pressure of protecting anyone on her niece. If anything, she was going to be the one doing everything to shield her from harm... But learning how to defend herself was a very needed ability. She could only nod gently, agreeing with Callion's conclusion and her pale yellow eyes gazed warmly at the little pink girl.
"I'm sure learning that won't be anything too hard for you, right, Sweet Pea?" Ayu turned to Terra, smiling at her affectionately. She looked so adorably tiny next to Callion and was so eager to learn the turtle beam. That sight was warming her aching heart. Maybe she should visit Master Roshi herself? On the other hand, she would rather ask Terra all about it. Something told Ayu that there was a different matter she needed to focus on. "Do you mind if I stay here and watch you train?" she asked, leaning a bit toward Terra and winking a little. The Majin took a liking to the warrior and Ayu couldn't be more glad that they both were getting along. Even the soot and Solar Flare thing was turned into a funny accident, though someone was still in a dire need of a bath and thorough scrubbing with herbal soap.
And then...
When the mood changed even her niece glanced at them both cautiously, listening to the Saiyan's words carefully. How much was she going to understand from it, Ayu wasn't sure, but one thing was clear - Callion was determined. The protection of Earth, of its people, of them... The last part gave her a very conflicting feeling growing in her chest akin to something heavy holding onto her heart. It made her happy and sad at the same time. Callion had a tendency of saying goodbye and leaving soon, Ayu knew that. Many, many times she wished that he could stay around a little longer but she never had the heart to confess that. After all, as a warrior, he was busy bettering his skills for a noble cause so she couldn't just selfishly ask him to stop and stay. They shared very little time but it wasn't his fault that he was away for so long... There was training. Gathering strength. Growing as a person... He did almost die yesterday. It was a miracle on its own that he was back in the living world after dying in West City. In fact, Ayu was blaming herself for feeling this ridiculous sadness growing as soon as he mentioned leaving Earth and traveling to another planet.
"Please, listen..." starting speaking with a low voice, Ayu took two steps in his direction and made a gesture as if she wanted to place her hand on his arm but out of bashfulness hesitated. Instead, she joined both hands on her chest, the pink tint barely appeared on her face and right away paled. "I know it's not easy," she said with a soft voice, trying to be as reassuring as she could be in those circumstances. "You're already putting the responsibility of protecting the Earth on your shoulders and you're trying harder than anyone I know." Callion wasn't fighting for fame or recognition. Maybe that's why she as admiring his resolve so much. He was doing everything out of his selflessness and she wanted him to know that she saw it and she acknowledged that - even if there might be not much worth in her words alone. "That's already enough..." Ayu added. She didn't know what else to say because she could understand his worry. Liari was gone, but for how long? If she'd get back, would she try to look for a fight again? What if a new and stronger threat will appear one day? To prevent any disasters Callion wanted to be ready but knowing nothing about possible danger made it a never-ending pursuit of power to be strong enough to protect others.
He was putting this deadly pressure on himself without a second thought. Maybe he was smiling and being cheerful now, but... If anything would happen that they won't be able to handle, he would probably be the first one to blame himself for not being able to prevent it. There were no words Ayu could think of that would convey her hopes that he won't reach that point - but she wanted to try.
"I'm glad to know that you're here. And I know that you're often away, busy with training and there's always the fear of facing the unknown in the future..." her expression softened even if Ayu was serious. "But even if anything goes wrong, I know that you're going to give it your all, no matter what will happen. I will be here too," maybe that confession was a little embarrassing because she had to stroke her cheek, feeling her face getting warm again. "It might not be much, but I'll do my best to help," so she said. Ayu had to do more, learning more than ever before - and she couldn't burden Callion with her worries and feelings. Her eyes felt as if they started to water again. She was going to miss him terribly again... "If you have to go, it's alright. Just please come back safely," afraid that she was going to tear up by this point, she blinked a lot and rubbed her eyes with a sleeve in case any drops were already appearing on her lashes. Immidetly, Ayu glanced at Terra with a more serene expression - her niece was always the best medicine for sadness - and smiled, holding her hand out to her. "We're going to wait for Callion together, right?"
But the Z-Fighters... Terra already proclaimed that she is going to be a part of the fighting group that Callion was creating. But her? When it was needed, she couldn't do anything. Her energy was unstable and when Ayu tried to heal the Saiyan's wounds it backfired - thank goodness that she had Senzu Bean on her. Otherwise, he'd be gone again and that might be too much for her. If she wanted to be of any use, she had to focus on getting better, fast. So much depended on it.
"Promise me, Sweetie, that you're going to be careful," she looked at Terra's excitement with pride and a faint bitterness growing in her chest. "You're really strong but if anything happens, promise me that you're going to tell me right away," the reason for that was simple. There was so much Ayu didn't know about Liari and look what happened... She wasn't going to let Terra get lost like that. And when it came to her - "As much as I'd like to, I'm afraid I can't join just yet." Ayu gently shook her head, tones of regret slipping into her voice - she smiled sadly. "You saw what happened in South City. That w-was..." To not let the worry in her eyes be seen, she lowered them, looking at the few petals under her feet. "That was the third time. I forgot to thank you for stopping me... Thank you," she gave him a warm albeit melancholic smile. "I need to be more careful, so until I learn how to handle my power myself, I have to remain here. But when I can, I'll join you." She assured him.
Ayu was bound to Lookout for the time being... The evergrowing Ki was always putting great pressure on her body. Before she was trying to get by with the help of meditation and sleep but the symptoms weren't going away. The nosebleed, headaches, dizziness, and weakened state were only worsening the control she gained with time - and then it all broke. She snapped and she did something she will regret for the rest of her life, but learning from that was an important lesson. Now Dende was healing her regularly, getting rid of the damage that without mercy was still building up inside of Ayu's body. If she were to be away for too long it could have been fatal for her - and everyone around.
But that was enough of grim thoughts. Knowing that Callion was going to leave soon again and that Terra wanted to learn something from him before it would happen, she didn't want to take more of their time. If anything, they should enjoy it. Ayu smiled.
"I think I interrupted the beginning of your training, didn't I?" she took a step back, standing near the tray with tea and snacks. "I would really like to see how skillful my amazing niece is. Terra is also a great help in the kitchen, you know?" she winked at the little girl and glanced at Callion with a cordial expression. "There's no one better to give me a hand when I'm cooking," she genuinely praised the pink Majin, in hopes of lighting the mood again. That was no lie. Thanks to her help the dinner was always cooked quickly and she was always eager to mix the batter for blueberry muffins. Just like she did back home, in the East...
Thanks to Terra's presence the Lookout was starting to feel more like home and staying here was more comfortable.

Callion listened attentively as Ayu and Terra expressed their thoughts and feelings. He appreciated the warmth and affection in Ayu's words, feeling a sense of comfort in her presence. Terra's excitement about joining the Z-Fighters and learning new techniques brought a genuine smile to his face. He could see the potential in the young Majin, and the prospect of teaching her the Kamehameha was met with enthusiastic approval.
He also listened intently to Ayu's words, his eyes reflecting a mixture of gratitude and determination. He appreciated the understanding in her eyes, recognizing the weight he carried on his shoulders. Her encouragement fuelled his resolve, and her offer of support touched him deeply. Despite his usual carefree demeanour, there was a sense of responsibility that tugged at him, and Ayu's words resonated with that unspoken burden. Callion even listened to Ayu expressing her concerns about his departure and the dangers that might arise, Callion could not help but feel a mix of gratitude and a tinge of guilt. He understood the weight of the responsibility he was placing on himself, but it was a burden he willingly shouldered for the sake of protecting those he cared about. Ayu's kind words reassured him to some extent, and he nodded in acknowledgment.
"I appreciate that, Ayu. Your support means a lot to me," Callion responded, his voice carrying a sincere tone. He could sense the genuine concern in her words, and it gave him a sense of connection. The Saiyan was not one to easily express his feelings, but he knew that Ayu understood him in a way few others did. He nodded in acknowledgment of Ayu's decision to remain on the Lookout for the time being. Her focus on mastering her own abilities was a sensible choice, and he respected her dedication to self-improvement. The events in South City were still fresh in his mind, and he did not want Ayu to put herself in harm's way without proper control.
As Terra enthusiastically pledged to join the Z-Fighters, Callion could not help but smile at her infectious energy. Her eagerness to be a hero and protect those she cared about warmed his heart. He saw a spark of potential in her, and he was determined to help her harness it. "Thank you, Terra. I'm honoured to have you as part of the team," Callion said, reaching out to gently ruffle her hair. "And don't worry, we'll make sure to keep each other safe."
Turning his attention back to Ayu, he could not help but appreciate the atmosphere they shared, even with the seriousness of the conversation. The flower crown that appeared in Ayu's hair added a touch of magic to the moment, and Callion found himself captivated by its beauty. "Your powers are something else, Ayu. It is like nature itself is responding to you," he commented, a genuine smile playing on his lips. "And I'm sure you'll master them in no time. Just take it one step at a time, and don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it."
As Ayu expressed her concerns about Terra's safety and asked for her niece to be careful, Callion could not agree more. He understood the weight of responsibility that came with being a guardian or protector, and he wanted to ensure Terra's well-being as much as Ayu did. "I promise, Ayu," he said, addressing both of them. "I'll keep a close eye on Terra, and we'll make sure she learns to harness her abilities safely."
Callion appreciated the brief pause for light-heartedness as Ayu mentioned Terra's contributions in the kitchen. It was a reminder that amidst the challenges and responsibilities, there were moments of joy and camaraderie. "I look forward to seeing Terra's skills in action," Callion said with a smile. "And if you ever need assistance in the kitchen, just let me know. I may not be a culinary expert, but I can handle a few kitchen basics." With a final glance at both Ayu and Terra, Callion's demeanor shifted back to a more serious tone. "I'll start training with Terra now," he declared, addressing Ayu. "We'll make the most of our time before I leave for Yardrat. And Ayu, thank you for your understanding and support. It means a lot."
With that, Callion turned his attention to Terra, ready to guide her through the training session and share his knowledge of the Kamehameha technique. He smiled at Terra with a grin, he folded his arms and deciding to take on a more serious look. “As for you little lady, how about you and I go for a more open space. I want to see you power up to your current maximum.” Callion said, wanting to use the full extent of flying in the air within the Lookout to allow Terra to train freely. “I want to see what you are capable of, that is if you can fly. If you cannot fly, then that is OK we can train here within the open space of the lookout…” Callion spoke, as he started to levitate in the air, not fully flying, he waited on Terra to see if she could truly fly or not. In all actuality, to be training a Majin individual again, was a trip down memory lane, honestly feeling the same with how he used to do so with Liari, but now having a second chance at being a master figure. It was… Strange, but genuinely pleasant to say the least. Then again… the thought of food and Ayu’s cooking did creep into the Saiyan’s mind, and everybody knows what the Warrior Race was like with food. No, no, no, his mind cannot dwell on food at a time like this! There was training to be done, and he certainly need to see what Terra’s current power.
Her current use of the Solar Flare was good, or at least the technique style and how she used her right form was there, but there was always time for improvement, to see such a little thing grow to become a capable warrior, and perhaps, someone that will be able to surpass her mother in every shape and form. In his own way, Callion could not help but feel a surge of excitement. Teaching the young Majin the Kamehameha was an opportunity to pass on the legacy of Master Roshi, and he looked forward to seeing her progress. But no matter what was going to happen, Callion was going to make sure he was good to Terra, training her the right way for her and what she needed in this moment of peace in the world before Liari could return.
