The chirping of the singing birds broke the silence of this lazy, bright, sun shining day. Rhapsody had taken a day off in the park this day, though technically, said day off was rather forced upon her by her current instructor, the Guardian of Earth, Dende. Too often did he force the promotion of rest over training, and to make matters of the situation worse, his training wasn’t even as intense as Rhapsody was used to having. She could see her marginal improvements, but so badly did she wish she could have gained more.
With her eagerness to train, the day passed by even more slowly than it normally would have. Rhapsody sat upon a bench, quietly reading a book as she attempted to distract herself for the day. The trees spoke happily of the previous day’s rain, and the satisfaction they felt from both the water and sunlight they were receiving. Small animals scurried about from tree to tree within the park, playing, scavenging, enjoying their day just as well as anything else around.
Rhapsody would give a blissful sigh, such relaxation and peace was what she hoped could be enjoyed anywhere and everywhere in the future, but while she felt that for the future, she couldn’t help but feel annoyed for the present. She knew her father still waited for her, and a constant tug on her mind was to finish her training so she could go off and finally cure him of his illness. Her one saving grace was the fact that Korin had helped her to realize the technique she’d always had at her disposal, the Far Seeing Arts.
Opening her eyes for a moment to look away from her book and up towards the skies, Rhapsody would focus her energy on the one she wanted to see. Like gazing through a flickery, round window, an image would appear before her gaze with a slight blur. Closing her eyes, the image would clear up greatly, and she’d be presented with the sight of her father still laying in his bed. His breathing was consistent, but his complexion pale; Rhapsody tried not to worry overly about the situation, factors such as his complexion made sense considering he was trapped in a room each and every day.
As Rhapsody gazed upon her father through her technique, Aiden would enter the room to begin tending to him. A smile would come to Rhapsody’s face at the sight of her friend's dedication; he’d made a promise to her before she left her village, and in spite of the months that had passed, he’d stuck to that promise. Rarely did she ever make use of this technique and not see Aiden by her father’s side, but as happy as she was about this fact, her distracted mind began to wonder if Aiden was actually taking care of himself as well.
Her gaze would remain as she watched Aiden tend tentatively to her father, checking his vitals, cleaning him up, administering a medicine to take the place of the food he couldn’t eat. Aiden had certainly earned the title of the village apothecary; even more than that, with the terms Rhapsody had learned on her journey, she would grant him a title much more fitting of the role and work he constantly put in.
“Sage?” She would whisper, “Doctor? Healer? Hmm…”
There were so many terms to choose from, it was impossible for her to pick any one by itself specifically. The tasks that Aiden oversaw, the abilities that he had at his disposal when it came to helping others; Rhapsody thought back to her own abilities, her prowess with magic and skill in combat, and felt a tinge of disappointment in herself. She thought of Korin’s attempt to train her, and the role he sought to bestow upon her, Guardian of the Village. It certainly sounded flashy, but the more she thought about it the more she believed herself to be unsuited for the role. Certainly, she could swing a weapon, but while such an ability wasn’t necessarily unhelpful, it also wasn’t something that was in constant need.
“If anything…” Rhapsody would begin as she interrupted her thoughts, “Aiden should be the village guardian.” She’d say somberly, giving a soft smile at the thought.
She tried her best not to make her own disappointment in herself the main focus of her thoughts, instead, turning her attention to Aiden’s successes. What was important now wasn’t what either of them couldn’t do, but rather, what they could do. What Aiden could do was tend to her father with his skills and medicines, while what she could do was fight to defend those she cared about, and train with Dende to master the healing technique needed to restore her fathers health. They each had their task before them, and it was up to them to see their respective tasks through; not for the sake of themselves, but for the sake of the people they cared far.
Rhapsody would give a soft huff in appreciation for her cleared thoughts, but then, her thoughts would stray back to the topic of Aiden’s health.
“Well, a little peek wouldn’t be so bad, right?” She’d say as if to assure herself that what she was doing wasn’t wrong.
She continued to gaze upon the two with her far seeing arts until Aiden would finish with his task of tending to her father. As he took to leave the room, her focus would shift to him, and to her surprise, her gaze would seemingly follow Aiden with no effort in the least. Rhapsody would watch as Aiden went about his day, becoming more and more awestruck as she realized the different tasks he would tend to. From gathering herbs at the forest's edge, to visiting house after house to ensure the health and wellbeing of the villagers. As in awe as she was by the sight, her worries of Aiden’s own health only grew as he seemed to work tirelessly throughout the day. However, by the fifth house he would arrive at, Rhapsody would begin to take notice of the smaller details of his visits; from a snack, to a drink, a short back rub, and a soft spot to sit for a brief couple minutes, it seemed that just as much as Aiden was helping the villagers, the villagers sought to ensure Aiden’s health themselves.
A kindly smile hidden behind the book she held was stretched across Rhapsody’s face at the realization. It seemed her worries were unwarranted, Aiden wasn’t alone in his endeavors; with the help of the villagers, his own health would be ensured as he looked after them as well. With nothing more to see, Rhapsody would end her far seeing sight and open her eyes, glancing around her surroundings to take it all in once more.
A vast, empty green park with trees planted throughout sporadically; there were few benches spread throughout, such was what Rhapsody sat upon now, and a cobblestone walkway that stretched in a wavy circle along the entire length of the park. A large lake was at the opposite end of the park, and was much more frequented due to the geese and other fauna that were around. Rhapsody however, sat on a bench near a small pond beneath a slightly heavier thicket of trees. It wasn’t as though there weren’t any park visitors that weren’t interested in taking a stop here, but luckily for Rhapsody, most that took notice of her sitting upon the only bench near the pond would give a polite wave before turning away. Little did Rhapsody know, while the spot near the pond wasn’t a good spot to have a park picnic, it was actually a great spot to enjoy a date moment, which unfortunately meant that she was unintentionally ruining the moment for couple after couple. The fact that it was the middle of a workday at least made it easier to not be bothered, with couples only showing up a few times before ceasing entirely.
Once the area had calmed down once again, Rhapsody would return to reading her book, only to stop once again as curiosity began to take hold. She’d used her power to check up on her father and found out that she could even follow Aiden around with it, but could she also look for others with it? The curious question led to a curious action, and that was to focus her thoughts completely at random, and to her surprise… it worked!
She had no one on her mind in particular as she closed her eyes and simply focused on seeing… someone. It didn’t matter who, just someone in general; and her technique would acquiesce as her vision was turned towards the city. Much like she herself was there flying above the city, Rhapsody would move her gaze along the streets and through the buildings, seeing the cars and people as they walked and went about their day. Eventually, she would take notice of the very park she was located at and her gaze would pan to it without question; she could see all those who were currently frequenting the park, and as her gaze traveled the cobblestone path, her gaze would eventually be upon herself as well.
“Heh, hehe, I’m unsure if I’ve ever seen myself like this.” She’d say with a slight laugh as she looked at how strange she looked sitting on a bench with a book in her hands and her eyes closed.
Opening her eyes, she would be caught with a bit of double vision for a moment as she kept her technique active. Learning how to move normally while keeping the technique active was another ability she would need to train and master, but for now, she would cease the technique and remove herself from her seated position. Realizing how strange she looked, to be caught by a park visitor would have been just a bit of an embarrassing experience. With that in mind, Rhapsody would leave the bench and take to the air, flying along the treetops before coming upon the largest oak of the park. Its thick branches were more than enough to support the weight of a person, and so Rhapsody would take to the highest one she could lay upon, holding her book just beneath her chest before closing her eyes as if to sleep. In truth however, she would continue using her far seeing arts to gaze out at those in the world.
Her gaze would begin in the sky, and would shift about with merely a thought. Her training on improving her focus was pivotal to this ability, and simply using it was a training of its own as well. Looking down from the skies, she could see the clouds, and the landscape of the Earth as the greenery enveloped the sprawling city. Her thoughts would turn to specific individuals at that point however, like the old couple she’d help some time in the past. A couple that lived upon a mountainside all by their lonesome, with hardly any access to basic necessities. Rhapsody checked upon them, seeing first their house, before seeing the two within, sitting at a table in their kitchen, simply enjoying their day. Rhapsody would smile at the sight before pulling her gaze back and looking at the house from above.
“They seem to be doing just fine.” Rhapsody would say in a happy tone as she remembered the brief time she’d met them.
Kira had been a rather amicable young man, and his eagerness and willingness to help was infectious; on the other hand, the other man who’d been there was rather curt and abrasive, and didn’t seem to have much in the form of free thinking. To Rhapsody’s understanding, it was due to how he was raised, but since he was on a journey to make his own mark in life and become a guardian himself, Rhapsody couldn’t help but to pity his inability to think and move freely. Being unable to adjust to situations with your own ability meant you were hardly capable of being the guardian of anything. Still, it wasn’t her place to judge, so she would ignore such stray thoughts; focusing instead on simply what had happened between the three.
The house of the old couple was built just fine thanks to the blueprints the couple had provided, and Rhapsody’s own know-how on maintaining a mountainside home for longer periods of time. Both Kira and the other man had fulfilled their tasks as perfectly requested; once the house was completed however, the second man had seen fit to leave, likely feeling like his job was complete. Rhapsody however had remained behind, knowing that there was a second task at hand that demanded her attention, that being of the culprits who’d destroyed the old couple's home to begin with. Luckily, Kira had been more than willing to join her on the endeavor, and together, they’d located the bandits hideout and apprehended them to hand over to authorities. With Kira’s help, the two would work on a final task of digging a trail down the mountain and to the city limits; while the task was one that led into the next day, by the end of it, the old couple would have a proper, paved road that led up the mountain and to their house to make travel up and down the mountain much easier. Kira and Rhapsody would part ways after said event, but it was nice to know that there were people out there that were willing to help others even without gaining anything in return. While some like the second man sought honor and validation, others like Kira simply helped for the sake of helping.
Rhapsody’s gaze would then return to the sky, before a realization came to mind, what exactly the definition of “anywhere” entailed. With that in mind, Rhapsody’s gaze would wander through the skies before ending up at Korin’s tower. Her gaze would drop from the sky to witness the Karinga Tribe going about their days. It was strange to think about how different their tribe was to her own village. While those of her village took to stocking and cooling hunted and gathered foods, and preserving them with salts for extended periods; the Karinga Tribe took instead to a daily routine of hunting and gathering, only collecting what they needed for that day specifically. In her own village, while small, there were even farms for larger food storages for the winter; but the Karinga had no such farms, even in spite of their access to flatter, vast amounts of land. Not only was it a difference in beliefs, but a difference in conduct; the forest wasn’t theirs after all, as they themselves would say, the forest belonged to their Guardian, Korin. Such a thought made Rhapsody wonder if her own village was the one in the wrong, until she recalled exactly who the Grand Elder was, and simply gave a sigh at the thought.
“Yeah, I don’t think he really cares.” She would say with a light laugh, “He should really let them know what is and isn’t okay!” She’d continue with a pout, before focusing once more on her ability.
Her gaze would move throughout the tribe, and in a small thought, she’d say hello to each person she passed, though it was clear none of them could hear her. Her sight would soon be upon the tower, and in an instant, said gaze had climbed the tower and reached Korin’s perch. Rhapsody would laugh as she thought to call it that, recalling Twilight and his own perch.
“Oh! Twilight!” She’d say excitedly, causing her gaze to swiftly shift from the tower to Zerori’s apartment instead.
From the outside of the apartment as she’d always entered from, her gaze would rush in through the window before panning around to look upon Twilight. Zerori seemed to be home for once, and rested upon her couch watching her television with another poisonous beverage in hand. Rhapsody would puff her cheeks in an annoyed pout, she’d have to give Zerori a talking to when they next met, but for now her focus was on twilight. Her gaze would pan the room, finding Twilight upon his perch atop the scratching post; strangely enough, he seemed to be sitting up for once, and though unlikely, it felt nearly like he was looking directly back at Rhapsody from where she gazed upon him from. Suddenly, she would hear Zerori speak up with profanities, questioning what the cat was staring at; Rhapsody would laugh at the sight, before removing her gaze from the room and returning it to the skies.
“Could he have really…?” Rhapsody questioned for a brief moment before shaking her head, “Nah, that’s impossible.” She’d say with a laugh before thinking of returning her attention back to the tower.
It seemed she was having a bit of fun with this new ability of hers; for so long, she’d focused on using each new technique she acquired as merely a means for improving her combat capabilities, but much like her ability of flight, she was finding small bits of joy in what she could do. Though, to continue looking upon others in places they would normally have felt secured may have been a bit of an invasion of privacy; Rhapsody decided nor to do well to avoid peering into the homes of others, lest she make a rather bad habit of it.
Her gaze had returned to Korin’s Tower, and to his perch upon the top; for a brief moment, she’d see the old cat, but recalling Twilight’s reaction, she would choose to avoid looking upon the Grand Elder for more than a moment. Going above his perch, Rhapsody could see the strange red pole that stretched to the Lookout above; in an instant she would climb its length before being upon the Lookout, and before her would be Dende, out for a small walk along the Lookout. She looked upon her master with a bit of annoyance, watching him from behind as he enjoyed his walk.
“Hmph, if you’re not busy today, then we should have been training…” She would grumble.
“It’s not polite to stare, young one.” Dende would respond, turning around and giving a smile directly to Rhapsody’s gaze.
“WAAAHH!!” Startled, Rhapsody would open her eyes, letting out a cry as she ended her far seeing arts and nearly fell from the tree she rested in, “H-h-how!? What??” She’d question, swallowing nervously before giving a small, forced laugh, “He… No way he saw me. Still… probably best not to peep on others without a good reason.” She’d say, deciding it best to cease her use of her ability for the moment.
Unbeknownst to Rhapsody, in her momentary fright she’d dropped her book she’d been clutching onto. Branch upon branch her book would fall and bounce as it made its way down below. Before finally, the book would fall from the tree entirely, striking the head of another who’d taken to enjoying their day at the park in a similar fashion.
“Yow!!” A familiar voice of a girl would cry out, “Who the heck!? A book? Who’s up there!” The voice would call out in an annoyed tone.
Rhapsody would flinch, finally taking notice of her lost book and realizing the situation. “Ah! I’m so sorry!” She’d call out as she leapt from the tree branches above and quickly flew down below to meet the individual, “I hadn’t intended to strike you, I swear! I had a bit of panic and my book must have slipped from my grasp, I-” Rhapsody would continue, giving a deep, apologetic bow as she spoke before suddenly being interrupted.
“Huh? Rhapsody?” The girl would question, prompting Rhapsody to lift her head and take notice of exactly who it was she was talking to.
“S-Sorallay?” Rhapsody would say with a bit of confusion as she recognized the girl's voice and face, “Is… is it really you!?” She’d continue excitedly, now taking in all the differences the girl seemed to have.
“You bet! I can’t believe it’s you either!” Sorallay would respond with a wide, somewhat smug grin.
“Sorallay!!” Rhapsody would cheer, before suddenly rushing the girl into a hug.
It had been about a year since Rhapsody had seen the girl; Sorallay, who had been a full head shorter and only ten at the time, now stood at equal height to Rhapsody and was now eleven. Her voice hadn’t changed too much, but it was clear she was growing into her teen years. Her musculature also gave away the fact that she’d been training with her father, Vocalo. She looked incredibly different than how she was a year ago, but to Rhapsody, it was the same Sorallay she’d met and befriended before.
“Sorallay, what are you doing here in the city? Where’s your dad?” Rhapsody would ask as she released Sorallay, before suddenly letting out a gasp, “Is there trouble!? Has Onion returned!?” She’d ask defensively, summoning her keyblade as a sign she was ready to fight.
“Woahwoah! Reel it in Rhap, dad’s fine!” Sorallay would respond with a laugh, “Pfft, and it’s Onnius, not Onion, but that hardly matters, just funny!” She’d continue, reassuring Rhapsody before explaining herself, “Nah, Dad and I have been travelin’ ‘round the Earth, visitin’ cities and trainin’ and whatnot, ya know?” She’d say as she sat back down on the grass and leaned against the tree, prompting Rhapsody to join her, “But like, every now and then he says “Take a day off Sorally” and “It’s not good for your muscles to work out all the time Sorally” just over and over!” She’d explain in a mocking tone as she imitated her father, “It’s just, ughh, and today is one of those days!”
“Hm, I know the feeling quite well.” Rhapsody would respond with a sigh, “My current instructor has stated I do the same this day, which has made the day quite slow.” She’d continue with yet another sigh as she looked off towards the peaceful park.
The two seemed to sigh infectiously, both feeling annoyed at the forced break they were meant to take. Sorallay would pass the dropped book back to Rhapsody, receiving thanks in response before a minor silence would fall between the two. Neither had any real plans for the day besides training, something their respected teachers were against giving, which left them with little more to do than to catch up with one another.
In the year since she’d seen Rhapsody last, Sorally had experienced a rather uneventful life. She would tell Rhapsody of the past year, of her traveling and training, and brief encounters with the occasional low life that she’d bring to justice. Rhapsody as well would tell Sorally of her experiences, getting trapped in a snowstorm, acquiring a ship, and her seemingly endless days of training before finally reaching the Tower she’d been searching for.
“So you and the kid just punched each other, and he gave up when you punched him harder?” Sorallay would question in response to being told about Rhapsody’s encounter with Arlo.
“I didn’t punch him! I used my keyblade!” Rhapsody would protest, showing off her weapon in response.
“Pfftt, whaaaatever! It’s all the same, right? If someone’s gonna be hit, then they’ll be hit!” Sorallay would laugh, “Doesn’t matter what you’re hittin’ em with!”
Rhapsody would give a deep pout in response, before the two would break into a fit of laughter at their own silliness. The two would continue their conversation for a time, before eventually running out of things to talk about. Neither had experienced anything overly noteworthy in the past year, and so the conversation had quickly reached a stale point. With nothing more to converse about, the two saw fit to separate from one another, and so with a brief farewell, Rhapsody would be the first to leave, rising to her feet and beginning to walk off down the trail. As she did, a strange feeling came to her chest; it felt almost wrong to just suddenly leave as she was doing, and incredibly anticlimactic. She wished there was more that the two could have spoken about, and wanted to enjoy a bit more time with her friend; Rhapsody would hesitate, coming to a stop as she walked and thinking the situation over, before she could reach a conclusion however, it would be Sorallay who would call out to her first.
“Rhap, wait!” Sorallay would cry as she rushed over to Rhapsody, “Rhap! Why don’t- I mean, that is… we don’t gotta say goodbye yet, ya know?” She’d say, stumbling slightly over her words, “Look, like… we haven’t seen each other in a while- no, I mean… what I mean is, your teach said no training, my dad said no training, but neither said we couldn’t spar with a buddy… yeah?” She’d finish, blushing with a bit of embarrassment as she tried to make her intentions known.
Rhapsody’s face would brighten at Sorallay’s remark. “You’re quite right!” She’d exclaim excitedly, “Sorallay!” She’d shout, causing the Saiyan girl to flinch in confusion, “Would you like to come to my ship?” She’d ask, “We can spar under the weight of additional gravity! It’ll be fun!” She’d cheer with an incredibly bright smile.
“Heck yeah, that sounds awesome!” Sorallay would cheer, prompting the two girls to break into another fit of laughter at their perceived genius alternative to resting for the day.
With a new plan for the day in mind, the two would take to the skies and begin their flight out towards the forest where Rhapsody’s ship was. During their flight, the two would converse further about matters that hadn’t been brought up in their previous conversation, mostly involving their respective combat abilities. Sorallay hadn’t been too great with flight a year ago, but Rhapsody had taken notice of her incredibly improved abilities. Remembering their encounter with Onnius, the two were both excited to see how much they’d improved compared to when they fought the slave trades.
Once the two arrived in the forest, even further questions would be prompted as to why the ship was out in such a location, to which Sorallay would then learn of Rhapsody’s inexperience at flying a ship. While it was certainly a new topic that required attention if Rhapsody ever sought to make use of her ship for more than a home, it wasn’t the most pressing issue at the moment. Rather, arriving in the clearing, there was clearly no ship at all; the only thing around was a massive mound of vines, but with a quick display of Rhapsody’s magic, the opposite would quickly be made true. Sorallay would be awestruck by Rhapsody’s magic, and Rhapsody would enjoy the praise, but the two would quickly take to entering the ship, and Rhapsody would begin showing Sorallay around.
“Hehehe, you’re my first guest, besides Zerori!” Rhapsody would say as the two walked through the command deck and towards the kitchen.
“Zerori?” Sorallay would question, “Sounds Saiyan, you know a soldier or somethin’?”
“Hmm, I’m unaware if she was ever a soldier, but for now, she calls herself a mercenary.” Rhapsody would respond, “She says she’s lived on Earth since she was a child, so if she was a soldier at some point, it wouldn’t have been a Saiyan Soldier.”
“Vegetan.” Sorallay would correct.
“Excuse me?” Rhapsody would say curiously with a tilt of her head.
“She’s a Saiyan, so whether she’s a soldier of Terra or Vegeta, she’s a Saiyan soldier. Our homeworld is called Vegeta, so to be specific, she’s a Vegetan, just like you’re a Terran from Terra.” Sorallay would explain with a rather proud expression to the knowledge she held.
“But… our planet is called Earth.” Rhapsody would respond, blinking a few times with confusion.
“Geh, is.. Is that would you guys call your world? But all the logs say it’s called Terra! Even my dad…”
“Mhm, and I’m a human, but everyone that lives on Earth is called an Earthling.”
“Earthling!?” Sorallay would question, before suddenly breaking into a fit of laughter, “Pfft, Earth… LING?? What’s the “Ling” about??” She’d continue, bursting out into further laughter and causing Rhapsody to blush at the realization of the strange term.
“I-I don’t know!” Rhapsody would respond, crossing her arms and looking away with a pout, “It’s not like I made the terms!” She’d say, feigning annoyance, before joining Sorallay in laughter.
The two would converse a bit longer, before Rhapsody would take to offering Sorallay a brief meal. Keeping to her usual routine, if the two were interested in conversing further, then it was only fitting that they eat while they do so. Rhapsody always enjoyed a filling meal prior to her training, and with sticking to the rule of an hour of waiting before a workout, now was the perfect chance to eat so the two wouldn’t be sparring on an empty stomach.
With a typical Saiyan appetite, Sorallay was quick to accept the offer, something that would soon come to haunt Rhapsody as the difference between a filling meal for her and a filling meal for a Saiyan was incredibly different. The two would converse more as they ate, and talk about the differences in their techniques for even longer as Sorallay continued to eat. Surprisingly, despite how much Sorallay ate, she also did so rather quickly, so their conversation wouldn’t go on for as long as it seemed at first that it would. Still, with her reverses of food heavily impacted, Rhapsody knew she’d need to make use of that special black card Zerori had given her yet again.
Meals finished and motivation as high as it could be, the two would finally take to the training room on board the ship, where Rhapsody would act as the instructor for Sorallay. The two would begin with exercise basics as a warm up, with Rhapsody showing off her usual workout routine, something that came as a complete surprise to Sorallay. From the stretches and bends, Sorallay could hardly keep up; it seemed that Vocalo had trained her specifically in forms of physical combat and had only taken to training her to get stronger, completely forgoing any flexibility or dexterity training.
The shapes and stances Rhapsody could make were enough to turn Sorallay’s face red, both with embarrassment from the postures and positions, but also at the immense difficulty they were to even attempt. Once the brief exercise was over, it was time to spar; or at least it would have been, but for Sorallay, it was time for a break instead.
“IMPOSSIBLE!!” Sorallay would exclaim as she lay on the floor.
“Oh come now, it wasn’t THAT bad.” Rhapsody would say with a huff, holding her hands against her hips.
“Nonononono, you’re a MONSTER! Those positions!? And holding them for so long!?! That’s IMPOSSIBLE for a normal person! And heck, you even have wings!! How could you possibly get into such postures with those big ol’ things weighing you down!” She’d exclaim before looking at Rhapsody’s chest and blushing, “THOSE BIG THINGS!!!” She’d screech with a defeated expression, “I just need a break, that was too much!” She’d say, her tail slamming restlessly against the floor.
“Hm, I can hardly tell what you’re talking about, but I guess a break is fine.” Rhapsody would remark, “I usually get to training immediately though while the blood is flowing hot, so only a short break, okay?” She’d say with a smile, before lifting her fists to her chest enthusiastically, “We’re here to spar, remember?”
“Yeah, yeah, I haven’t forgotten, heh, just gimme five minutes.”
As the two enjoyed a brief respite from their stretches, Rhapsody would begin to explain the method of her training. She would teach Sorallay about the Gravitron, something the girl surprisingly had no experience with. While she’d heard about such a machine from her father, and her father had certainly used one back when he was a soldier, she herself had never had the chance to use one. The ideal of being able to artificially increase the gravity within a single room enticed her, but Rhapsody would warn about overdoing it. The two would need to figure out exactly what level of gravity Sorallay’s body would be able to resist without causing her harm, but it was then that Rhapsody would learn about the fact that the planet of Vegeta had nearly ten times the gravity of Earth.
Once their break had concluded, the two were ready to start their spar; starting off small, Rhapsody would set the gravity to Sorallay’s home world, making it ten times that of Earth.
“Hehe, so brisk!” Rhapsody would remark.
“Yeah, I remember this feeling!” Sorallay would state, “When I came to Earth, I felt so weightless, ya know? This is nostalgic! Not many planets out there reach this level of gravity!” She’d say with a sharp grin.
“Hm, is that why the settings are based on Earth’s gravity?” Rhapsody would question, “I knew this was a Saiyan ship, but couldn't figure out why the gravitron used Earth's gravity as a measurement instead of the Saiyan planet.” She’d say, crossing her arms as her ears twitched about curiously.
“Nonono, it’s not using “Earth’s” gravity, it looks like whoever used this ship last knew the name of your planet and simply labeled it as Earth in your gravitron.” Sorallay would answer, clearing the situation up, “Remember when I called your world Terra? Terra is a generic term for class three inhabitable planets, there are a ton of planets out there like yours, so Terra is used to reference them all.” She’d explain in another proud manner, “So the gravitron is actually set to Terran gravity, but I guess the previous owner thought they’d be here for a while, and reset it in the computer as Earth.”
“Ohhh, that makes sense!” Rhapsody would say excitedly, “Hey hey, after we fight, could you teach me more? I’m still learning the Saiyan language, and there are a bunch of things on the ship that I’m still unsure about!” She’d ask excitedly, her eyes nearly sparkling at the idea of learning more.
“Pfft, okay okay!” Sorallay would laugh, “I don’t mind, but let's pump this gravitron up! I wanna work up a sweat!” She’d finish enthusiastically.
With a hearty cheer from the two, Rhapsody and Sorallay would begin their spar in earnest, raising the difficulty of the gravitron as they did so. From ten, to twenty, twenty to forty, and even higher still. What had started as a simple spar between the two had grown into a full on training session. Sorallay was already used to higher gravity thanks to her visits to other worlds, likely an intentional feeling her father had wished to instill in her during their travels; as such, the steadily climbing gravity was of little issue for a time until just before a hundred times Earths gravity. It looked like that would be the end of their fun, before Sorallay revealed an ability of her own to Rhapsody; with a burst of energy, Sorallay’s power level would improve exponentially, and it seemed she’d be more than capable of enduring even higher levels of gravity. From that point, Rhapsody would raise the gravity to what she herself could endure and the two would continue their spar for the next few hours.
Between their own battle, and Rhapsody showing off the combat drones she used to train with, the two would completely lose track of time. Morning had given way to noon, which in turn quickly turned to evening. While the sun wasn’t soon to set, it became clear that most of the day was now lost, though that in itself wasn’t really a problem. The two would finally call it an end to their training and exit the gravity chamber; they’d enjoyed their time together thoroughly, and that was all that mattered to them.
Sorallay was ready for another meal, but before she could even think about the kitchen, Rhapsody was quick to take hold of her shoulder with a stern expression. A quick sniff, and it was clear that the two had worked up a sweat just like Sorallay had wanted; as such, no other act could come until a bath was had, something that Sorallay could only sigh heavily of. With no other recourse, she’d accept her fate and the two would strip down to take to the bath; to Rhapsody’s surprise, within what seemed like nothing more than a simple wall, was actually a built in washing unit for clothing. Sorallay’s understanding of the ship had revealed this new amenity, and the two would have fresh clothes ready rather quickly with this new feature. The two would share the bath together, however with the size of the bath and more importantly the size of Rhapsody’s wings, the two wouldn't share the tub for long. It wasn’t often that Rhapsody would cut a bath so short, but having a guest for once, she was fine with mixing things up this once.
Once their bath was finished, the two would take to their meal; once more, the reserves Rhapsody had would diminish quickly, but at the very least the two would enjoy their meal and remaining conversation. Night would fall before they knew it, however as Soralay would explain, she and her Dad still had no home of their own to get to, and so they typically just camped out in the woods. She and her father were expected to meet back up with each other the following day, so Sorallay really had nowhere else to go after the two parted ways.
“Hm, then, would you like to sleep with me?” Rhapsody would ask innocently.
“W-what!? I don’t, I mean, like-!” Sorallay would respond in a flustered manner, stumbling over her words once more in confusion.
“Ah! It’ll be so much fun! I’ve not had a sleepover with a friend since I was a child!” Rhapsody would cheer excitedly, quickly rising from her seat, “I’ll go grab the other pillows and blankets from the crew quarters!” She’d continue, rushing out of the kitchen.
“Ah… yeah… that’s what you meant, duh.” Sorallay would say to herself beneath her breath, laughing a bit as she chastised her own silly thoughts.
Finally, the night would come to an end; the two would exchange more stories as well as the plans they had for what came after their day together. Sorallay would return to her father and the two would continue their journey, while Rhapsody would return to the Lookout and continue her training with Dende. It had truly been a fun day for the two, and with all the excitement coming to a rest, sleep would overtake them in the middle of their conversation when they least expected it, thus, bringing an end to their day together, with a promise to meet up again in the future.
