If there was anything to put a warriors mind into perspective it was battle and Athren was getting plenty of that lately, between his reunion with Quash and his little spar with Callion, Athren had come to discover that he was falling behind, maybe not necessarily in terms of power but within his techniques. He was always trying to develop new techniques, come up with new and creative things that were practical and very versatile in a battle and though he always had plenty on his mind, he never really got around to learning or improving what he desired. The first two techniques that were on his mind were the Spirit Fission technique and the concept for his Nova Wave technique. Now both of these techniques would be super beneficial to him in a fight and both give him distinct advantages against opponents in situations but he needed to figure out which one he was going to learn or improve first.
For at this moment in time Athren had found himself within his gravity chamber with it cranked up to the one hundred and seventy five percent capabilities that it could go up to, he knew his time was running short with this gravity and it's benefits wouldn't last with him for long. His body was at the point where it was nearly completely adapted to the intense weight pushing down on his shoulders and though it used to be a challenge to even walk in the gravity chamber, it was now nothing more than a mild resistance.
Though one thing was for sure, so long as Callion wasn't training around him again, he would be provided with a very peaceful and open place to work out these techniques, though the solid debate was WHICH one would he do first? The benefits of the Spirit Fission far outweighed the Nova Wave technique that he had in mind, he could revive the dead so long as their bodies had remained. This was something that he wanted to expand upon, learning how to master it to hopefully get the most from the energy he beat out of somebody? Well, he HAD to do it.
The thing was, he needed to GET to the end of the battle for that to happen or at least provide an opening in between it all to give him a brief chance to use the ability and that's exactly where his thoughts came in for the Nova Wave Technique. It was a simple explosive wave technique but it could be used either defensively or offensively, it being essentially a shield technique for all those who made contact with it and it could be further expanded on in the future. He figured he would have to go with that one to start, after all, it just made the most sense. This technique could get him out of a tight spot and get him out of the battle and that was priority.
Though there was a risk of learning such a technique within his gravity chamber, he would have to hope that the ship could handle that kind of energy output. His training room was top of the line and the interior of it was protected by an energy absorption system which in turn would provide power to the accessories on the ship. This was a simple design, primarily made to contain and absorb basic Ki blasts and convert their energy into power. Now Athren had seen that at play and he could confirm that it did work but.. the amount of energy he'd be pushing out trying to learn this new technique? Well, it was going to be infinitely more than a simple and damaging than Ki blast but he'd have to try it.
It would surely test the resolve of the technology that would be designed to protect his ship from damage and all he'd be able to do was hope that it would manage to hold. This technique was important to him. Now it was just a matter of figuring it out. In all honesty, he didn't expect it to be that difficult. After all, he was already well harnessed in the control and manipulation of his Ki and along with that, he had Spirit Control. He assumed that this wouldn't be much of a challenge for him at all but.. he figured he'd start off with a basic warm up first!
He wanted to warm up to simply stretch out, get comfortable and get motivated. It was a simple fact of life, gaining momentum caused momentum and he could build off of that. If he were to start small here, he'd be able to expand it outwards onto much greater things. It was the same concept as a baby, once they learned how to walk it was much easier to run. It might've failed to be the same thing here, but the concept had still applied.
Now Athren's plan was set in stone, he was going to start with training and a warm up and then begin to develop this new technique of his. He wanted to hone it and have it perfected in the matter of the afternoon. He really wasn't one to waste time and given the degree of difficulty this would be, it shouldn't be any problem at all. Though he couldn't help but think about how this would really do in a real fight, against somebody such as Liari, or Quash, or Callion. It was beneficial yes, but would they really be effected by it at all? The benefits were there, but it was a close to medium ranged Ki technique which would mean they'd have to be somewhat close. It left it's options at a precise few of scenarios, but he couldn't help but think that it was going to be worth it in the end. All he really had to do now was get to it and get to his training and he wasn't going to waste anymore time thinking about this, he was just going to get to it!

He had been in the middle of his gravity chamber, the gravity pressing down against his shoulders. Though it didn't feel like much to him anymore, it was still right there with him, still present in it's attempt to try to pull him to the ground but it was just no use at this point, the Super Saiyan was just far too powerful to be affected by it negatively anymore but if he trained in it long enough, he would feel the resistance against his tired and fatigued muscles but at the start? Well, he'd be nothing less than fresh and ready to go and he fully intended to use that all to his advantage!
As per usual Athren would start by moving rapidly around the room, his body pushing against the gravity as he began to unleash a devastating barrage of attacks into the air. His punches were swift and precise, his kids deadly and well formed, the warriors honed technique would be fully on display in this room and each strike was thrown with nothing less than pure dedication and motivation. He had a lot of ground to gain in his mind and he wasn't going to approach this any other way than with his all. He knew that eventually he'd cross paths with that evil majin again or even Quash, and Quash had become quite a threat himself. Athren never would've thought he'd see the day, but that warrior had come a long way, even matched Athren in his own transformations now. It seemed as if the Earth was getting filled up with deadlier and stronger fighters every second and he couldn't help but wonder what else was out in the universe, what other threats lingered in the starts awaiting their moment to wrap their hands around the Earth. Athren knew he'd have to be prepared, every punch and kick thrown in the gravity had to have a meaning, it had to be a step towards working towards something, it had to be enough to protect the Earth.
Now Athren wasn't ever really big on defending planets, he had a few contracts to do so and completed them against rather lacklustre threats but the stakes weren't ever as high as the could be now. When he completed those contracts his children were always off planet and in his ship awaiting his return. If Athren were to lose, his kids wouldn't lose their lives or be threatened but here on Earth? This was the planet his children decided to live on, at least for now or due to a lack of options for transportation and that simply meant that any threat that would come to Earth had a chance to threaten them, whether it be their lives or just their quality of life, Athren wouldn't allow it.
Athren was going to stand in the threats way from this point on, every single time he could because he knew who and what stood behind him. The few that remained that he loved and this included Zerori and whether or not they still remembered him or not didn't really matter, he'd do this for them every single time, protect them even if they didn't know it. This was his task, this was his assignment and he wouldn't allow himself to fail, he couldn't for the stakes were simply far too high. Even if he couldn't be with them, he'd do his absolute best to protect them, to preserve their quality of life and that was the best he could do for them all now. It was a heavy task but it was his, one he'd live with for the rest of his life and he wouldn't ever stop trying.
As he continued his training his strikes became sharper and more focused, his train of thought leading him to execute them all much better. The more he focused on the reasons why he was doing this, the easier it was on him to get into it more. Though he never thought he could be a hero type, it was a pathway that he was walking. Maybe he'd never truly be a hero and that wasn't the intention, but maybe he could just preserve some life instead of take it away for a while, maybe he could have his break from endless slaughter and provide people with a chance at life. Along with sharper and more focused strikes, Athren's speed was increase rapidly too, the motivation and determination he was feeling him pushing to go all out, even if he wasn't sparring with a true partner, he wanted to display his best here, sharpen the blade that he'd use to cut those of evil down.
This had continued for a little while, he wouldn't slow down, he wouldn't give in and it wasn't before long that he had himself a little bit of a sweat going, the weight slowly starting to be felt by his muscles as the sweat would drip down below onto the floor. He had found himself completely in his zone, he was in the perfect state of mind for all of this. He wasn't going to stop until it was complete, until his goal for the day was accomplished but yet, he still had a long way to go and his warm up was nearly complete. The mental side of this was going to be the most difficult of it all, the preparations and planning but that worked quite alright for him! Though as time went on, he was starting to believe that his warm up was nearly concluded, his whole body was sweating, his heart race had increased and he was much more motivated to continue now than before he started.
Drawing his warm up to a rather quick conclusion, Athren had stopped himself in the exact middle of it and found himself floating in the room. The furthest point away from all of the walls, it was now the time to master his Nova Wave technique.

Being in the centre of the room was the smartest move Athren could make here to train this technique, though he knew that he could control the technique to his desire simply based on the level of Ki Control he had acquired throughout his twenty nine years of life. Though now, the main goal had shifted from simply learning in down to more specific steps to accomplish this. His first step was rather simple, create an outwards wave of energy around his body fully, something that would completely encircle him with his attack. Providing him with not only an offensive attack that would cause harm to anybody who come into contact with him, but provide him with a way out of grapples, a technique to counter other techniques if need be. Though he doubted how usable it really would be in battle, he remembered that it really wouldn't have to be used often, but used as a crutch in a battle to get him out of a tight spot. He knew he wouldn't use this often, but that was okay. He'd rather have something to save his skin in a pinch than nothing at all, and that was the mindset that was going to push him forward with this. Now, it was just about getting it down to this first step, create the energy wave around his body and call it the 'Nova Wave'. Once that was fully complete, he would move onto more damage and expanding it just a little bit further.
Of course though, he had to create the method upon which he would activate this technique and it's intention was to come from his skin outwards until it reached a spot to fully expand and he could use similar methods to his Nova Barrier to accomplish this. For a brief moment Athren would allow himself to focus, his eyes shutting briefly as he visualized the technique at the way he wanted it to be. His breathing steadied as he prepared himself to master this new technique of his. When it was the picture was mentally complete and it was specifically how he designed it, the saiyan warrior would tighten up his body and clench his fists, building up the energy and releasing it outwards rapidly, the energy forming a circular seal around him in it's dark orange color. Though it wasn't something he needed to hold long, he decided to hold it there for a period of time. So far, he had plenty of space in between the walls that surrounded him, the ceiling above and the floor below him and at this point there was no official risk to his ship. Of course he knew that once he started pushing this thing further, then it may become a risk if he wasn't careful.
The last thing he needed at this point in his life was his space-ship to be destroyed by his own hand, not only would it limit his space travel to new locations that he hadn't been too before but it would leave him without a roof over his head and leave him homeless. In turn, it would also leave him down a lot of money and if his personal stuff got destroyed? It would essentially leave him with nothing, and that wasn't exactly something he was going to allow himself to settle with. He was going to be as careful as he could here and try his best not to allow the attack to hit any of the surfaces of his ship and currently, he was working with quite a lot of space.
As it stood in this very moment, the Nova Wave technique was something he was very pleased with, something that really didn't need to be trained or perfected through more practice at this level. This was as basic as they came for techniques and it was nothing beyond simple Ki manipulation. Though it was unique for him in the sense of releasing it from his body to surround his body, it was as easy as they come. For now though, Athren held it there, imagining it crashing against an opponent or another attack, his eyes closing as he tried to visualize how it would look, how it would effect it all.
Through the imagery in his mind, Athren could not see any massive flaws in the technique he quickly and efficiently had just produced. It worked as designed and if he needed to hold it there he could and if he wanted to amplify it's reach or the power involved in it, he potentially could. That was the next step he wanted to accomplish, to expand it at will and make it even more powerful though the thought of his ship would remain. He was playing with fire here and really didn't want to get burned. After all, if he became homeless it wasn't like he could just go to Zerori's anymore to have a nice bed to snuggle up in, he'd have to rough it out in the wild and though he could, he much rather would choose not to go down that path.
For the sake of training his new technique though, Athren would cancel the move and stop holding it, allowing the energy to dissipate as he prepared to perform it at a slightly bigger radius with a more capable power output. "Alright, Let's not try to blow up our own ship." Athren would mumble to himself as he looked at the vast amount of space he had between the walls, his thought process still hoping that the technology in his ship could actually do as it was designed and maintain the energy that collided with it. Whether or not it could, he was potentially going to put it to the test and whether or not that be deliberate or not was in question. All he knew in this moment was that this needed to be done and he really didn't have a choice in the matter.

Now that the foundation of the technique was completed and his first step was behind him, it was time to take his second step towards learning the Super Nova Wave. The second step was turning the Nova Wave into the Advanced Nova Wave, a technique that would require more power and do more damage but also expand to a further radius. Now Athren was well aware that he was playing a dangerous game in terms of the technique against his ship battle, but he needed to risk it. Not only was it a gamble, but at the same time it was also a training session within the training session. So long as he could flawlessly control his energy, he should be able to expand it and decrease it's size at will depending on just how much energy he would put inside of it. It was well worth it, it was a risk versus reward and he was going to follow it all the way through. The was no reason why he couldn't amplify the power behind it without expanding it THAT far, and there wasn't any reason he couldn't expand it outwards with more power by choice. He was going to need to find the balance that best fit the situation, as with live combat he may have to be aware of his surroundings as well. If anything, this would only provide him with even more of a challenge and it was a challenge he was willing to accept. With the first step out of the way and the second one about to be taken, Athren was motivated.
Athren floated in the middle of the room, his breathing remained calm, his demeanour well focused on the task that was at hand. His confident aura continued to surround his sturdy and strong posture. He remained in his base form with his power suppressed strongly, barely even a tenth of it out on display for the word to sense. He was taking the most precautions to save his ship if things were to go south, if he were to expand it a little too far with just a bit too much power. He wasn't just a fighter, Athren was a very skilled fighter that put thoughts behind every action he did, he found the reason behind it and followed the path he had believed to be best. Nothing really come to him without a risk and reward thought process, a how could this be countered or what happens if I do this instead of this? He thought everything out and it didn't matter how simple a move it was. He followed this very same path during a fight because there was always a need for damage assessment, especially when it was himself or his possessions that were at risk of being damage. Though he reassessed, he was still confident with his choice to move forward with this, though proceeding with caution Athren would once again prepare to unleash his new technique out into the void of the gravity chamber.
Once more Athren released his breathe, it remained slow and calm even there was a risk here to his own possessions. In a very controlled manner Athren pushed more Ki outside of his body than last time, controlling where it started to expand and pressing it outward. Though this time around, he slowly increased the energy he was putting into it in order to control how much it would expand. It was pretty obvious that the more power he put into it, the more it would expand and consume the landscape of the battlefield and in theory, he would have full control over it all simply by how much power he put into it. Though there was another route he could try to take, he could condense the energy as well so the damage would increase while the distance remained, making it versatile in that sense and that's exactly what he was going to try to do here.
With the energy metres away from touching the floor and the ceiling, Athren decided to push more energy into this technique without allow and kind of growth in it's size. This was really going to be the make or break as he had one more step to complete and he wasn't going to allow himself to fail at the simple task of preserving his ship. If he failed there, it was initially setting himself up for more failures and that wasn't acceptable!
Athren remained focused, putting more energy into it by the second but containing it within it's current circumference. So far it was a complete success, and he didn't stop. Currently, he had managed to put double the amount of energy into the technique which in turn would cause double the damage it did within the first step. So far, this was going just as planned and Athren was already expanding and mastering his newest technique, though he knew there was still one more step to go but the difficulty shouldn't be there, he was almost confident with the fact that he'd be able to contain it and expand it as he pleased, regardless of the energy output.
Once he was confident and happy with the outcome, Athren would once again drop the attack completely and let the energy vanish. His second step to this technique was now complete and ready for combat use but now he'd need to move onto the third step, more power and a wider range, though he intended on keeping it controlled. In theory, it really shouldn't be too hard now that the first two steps had been accomplished. Though once again before taking the third step, Athren would close his eyes and visualize his victory, visualize exactly what he wanted in order to assist him with controlling his energy to those specific wants and needs. He wasn't going to let this slip away from him and the best way to do it was focus, calmness and complete control.

With his third step visualized there was really only one more thing to do and that was follow it through. It would be a lie to say that he wasn't just a little bit nervous but with the evidence he had just provided to himself, he was confident that he could do this within a perfectly controlled manner, one that would limit all risk of damage to his property. He just knew he'd need to remain focused and have a very clear train of thought, he needed to be in full control of every ounce of his energy and of this technique. The last thing he needed was to get distracted and fumble and allow for the energy to expand outwards past where he'd want it to.
It would seem as if it would be simple enough and even Athren thought that, but even the best made their mistakes when they were distracted and not invested fully in what they were doing and that part wasn't a concern. Athren was fully invested in this training and the purpose and motivation were all behind him, but there was always a small chance of error. His breathing was once again calm, his picture in his head was crystal clear and there wasn't anything that could shake the resolve he had. He had to believe he could pull this off and damn well he would.
After of moments of being in his own head, reassuring himself why he was doing this and why he was pushing this hard he was ready to take the third step. The third step simple in theory, expand it outwards, control the distance and increase the power to be more punishing. Now he just needed to take the visual and make it a reality, take it from his head and put it into the universe. His breathing remained calm and on a deep exhale Athren would force the energy from his body once more, his mastery of his ki, the control of his spirit came into play here as he massively increased the amount of energy right off the hop, he wasn't going to waste time forcing energy into it slowly and controlling it that way, no. He was going to compress and contain it right away.
The technique quickly grew as Athren DUMPED energy into it, expanding larger and larger until it was all but an inch away from making contact with the floor and it was here where he stopped it's expansion and held it there, while still dumping more energy into it. The damage output going through the roof while the distance effected was fully controlled by him. It was at this moment in time he REALLY wanted to put his control to the test, he wanted to REALLY see how he could manage this. As he continued to put power into it, he began shrinking it and enlarging it rapidly, almost as if it was pulsing like the very own beat of his heart, he put everything he had into it until the technique itself was at one hundred percent power!
It beat like his very own heartbeat, which was almost symbolic to the cause behind this training session. Everything this technique was designed to do was protect those he cared for, to essentially protect his heart, keep all those he loved safe, out of danger and even free from the power of those who wish to rule. It was almost perfectly aligned to that. Athren would keep this up for a short little while until he had finally decided to expand it out once again with full power, the technique once again reaching the point of colliding with the walls of the interior. It became within a quarter of an inch of touching and Athren maintained it, it was at this point he was fully satisfied, fully confident with what he had just done and removed the technique from the room, once again letting it vanish into the air.
With that test, Athren knew that this technique was complete and ready to be used in a live action scenario against a real opponent. How soon that opponent would arise and that chance would come was in question, but with the way things were going he didn't expect that it would take long, no longer than a few weeks. He couldn't help but think that Quash would come back for him and if his friendship with Callion were to grow, he expected plenty of more spars with him. He'd use this against all of them if he needed too, after all he could control the size and the power output making it perfect for nearly all environments. He would just have to be careful not to let himself get carried away with it.
Now that it was fully completed though, it was time to do something else and given that Athren's momentum had continued to grow and his accomplishments continued to rise, he felt the need to continue his training, why stop here? He was still motivated, still fresh besides some expended energy and the day was still rather young, he had plenty of time to keep on training. If he had just developed a new technique for his enemies, it felt necessary to come at them with new found power and he wouldn't accomplish that unless he really kept working on it. His decision was simple, after a short break and a quick meal, he would return to his gravity chamber for even more training. It didn't matter how basic it would be so long as it would be beneficial for him, whether it be the a simple training circuit with his weights or something else entirely, he was going to push through, keep training and push for a new level of power! He needed too, for all he knew, danger was lurking around every corner and with the threat of Liari on the loose, he'd need to be at his best, he'd need to be prepared and ready for it at any second. Hell, she could even attack now. He had to be ready to fight, for his life, the life of Cress, Celric, Zerori, even the innocents of Earth, he may have been the only thing standing in her way and now that he had a glimpse of what she was truly capable of, he knew how he'd stack against her and he still had a long way to go.

After a brief break that was mostly used to indulged in training fuel, Athren was ready to go back at it. His stomach was now full of all the leftovers he made the night before, the fresh dinosaur meat hitting the spot just like it needed too. That was one thing about being a saiyan and training as hard as he did, one always needed plenty of food ready at all times. Otherwise, they'd simple wither away. Though the downside of preparing and eating all the food? The cleanup was MASSIVE, the amount of plates and things used to cook it in a timely fashion? It was a little excessive and left quite a mess but that was a mess for later, for right now Athren still had plenty of momentum, plenty of energy and he was rested up and ready to keep going with it. He couldn't stop now, he simply wasn't ready to do and he had new heights to reach, he wanted to see just how strong he could get! Once more he found himself in his gravity chamber with it cranked up to the maximum, one hundred and seventy times gravity pressing down on his now slightly fatigued body, his power level no longer suppressed as he blinked into his super saiyan transformation in an instant. His transformation being completely controlled, not a single pebble around would vibrate, the walls of his ship feeling no pressure or force, the transformation was clean, powerful and perfectly mastered by the saiyan warrior. It had seemed all of his hours training in it had officially paid off.
Though he had a good feeling that this level of power control came from Pybara, the Spirit Control technique really helped him master his own energy further than he had ever thought possible and he couldn't be more grateful that he decided to ask for assistance, and he now knew that without it he never would've stood a chance against his own father, if it wasn't for this technique that he learned it was very likely that he'd be a slave to his own father, unleashing the demon realm upon the universe and causing even more death and destruction but it was because of Pybara simply sensing the good in Athren, sensing that he wanted to go down the right path that saved him from going down the wrong one and even with that, if it wasn't for Pybara Athren's kids wouldn't have been resurrected from the cold grasp of death. He had everything to be grateful for and he had to show his thanks for it, even if Pybara no longer had any memory of Athren, Athren could say thank you by following his wishes and trying his best to be a glimmer of hope for the universe and he had to start with Earth, just like his technique training, it would all start with the smallest of steps.
It was always the small steps that led to the big ones, the small challenges building up the the giant ones. Everything always built up towards something else and as long as you had a solid foundation, you'd potentially have the chances at achieving greatness and in this very moment, in his most powerful state of super saiyan Athren couldn't help but wonder if this form was simply just the foundation for something much more powerful, or was there anything more powerful after this? He couldn't help but wonder but he always hoped he'd be able to find out. The amount of work he's put into this form, the amount of work he put into becoming a stronger, much more rounder warrior, it was all building to something. Maybe it was possible that all of it was simply building towards defeating somebody strong, protecting the planet, maybe a new transformation, or maybe it was just built up to provide somebody else a challenge before his demise, he couldn't tell, but he knew that time would eventually tell all and a single moment could make all the difference. He just couldn't stop now, he had grown so much in such a short time and he hadn't felt like he flattened out yet. He was a long way from a plateau, or at least he hoped.
For now, he just needed to keep pushing, keep climbing the mountain, never stopping until he finally reached the top. He never knew when that was going to be, but he knew he was a LONG way away from there but for now though, Athren needed to shift his focus back onto the situation at hand, he needed to focus, he needed to dive deep right into his training! He quickly came to a plan in mind, one that was really basic yet still beneficial given he hadn't quite exhausted the use of his gravity chamber yet. Though basic wasn't difficult, it still provided him with enough of a boost that it was worth it.
He was going to resort to basic physical exercises, some more shadow boxing and maybe even learning yet another new technique. That was all part of his plan, now he just needed to get to it and see it done. He would go for as long as he could, he was going to earn the nights sleep, earn the power he would be gaining for he knew that he'd need every ounce of it soon enough. Liari needed to be defeated, and if there were more threats out there like her, they'd need to be put into the ground too and even that was a scary though, there was always somebody trying to conquer the universe, conquer worlds and enslave the people or outright sell the planet, and Athren was one of few who could stop a threat like that, but to give him his best chances he needed to continue to prepare, prepare even when he was already ready. He couldn't stop, not yet. He'd take his break when he earned it, he'd take that break in a moment of peace, not before, only after that was accomplished.

With the gravity still pressing down against his shoulders, Athren took the whole momentum concept and gave it a go. He pushed himself to start by simply moving around the room rapidly and swinging his fists around as if he were sparring with a live opponent. His body would shift, dip and simulate dodging attacks as he immediately found himself lost in his actions, completely invested in every sharp, elegant, precise jab that he through. His kicks were just as powerful and swift, launched with pinpoint accuracy. The time would come where all of this would be put to the test and every single attack would matter, it would be life or death and one wrong move could very well be the death of him. He needed to train as if this were real, train as if his life depended on it because it very well did, it very well mattered. One flaw against a strong enemy, one simple mistake could cost him everything and the planet could suffer, his kids could suffer and he wasn't about to allow that to happen. He needed to be ready, to deliver the most deadly blows that he could, the most sharp, quick, rapid and accurate punches and kicks he could come up with, he needed to be ready, in the perfect shape, the best shape of his life even.
He wasn't going to stop training as if it were real, and he needed to keep up on it every single day. He couldn't allow himself to get over confident with his abilities, he couldn't allow himself to fall into the mindset of being good enough because the simple fact was, there was always going to be somebody stronger than him out in the universe, somebody better, faster and he'd need to find his way to compete with them, to put them down before any threat they impose could be taken out on the Earth. Every step Athren was taking was for his children, Zerori, even Callion and Opherla now. All lives of the Earth mattered, all were valuable and couldn't be thrown away.
Athren had made the mistake before, he had killed thousands of people on Earth and he didn't realize just what kind of effected it had on everybody. He was born to fight, raised to kill and exterminate, it was the saiyan empire's way of life back then and he never once second guessed himself, never once thought about the emotional effect his actions had on the survivors, or the families of those who weren't present at the slaughter. He didn't realize the pain or damage he caused until he himself was one of the people to face such disaster. The way he felt when his kids died? If it weren't for Zerori, he wouldn't have had anybody and the loss of his crew didn't help either and he still hoped that someday soon, he'd get to wish them all back. They were all good people, a good portion of them weren't even fighters. They were just lost souls looking for work, looking for a sense of family and the Crimson Nova just so happened to be able to provide that. Though Athren was a mercenary for a time, he treated his crew as if they were family, he respected each and every one of them down to the simple stock boys that maintained the inventory of food and supplies, he respected the technicians onboard who kept it running, the cooks, the cleaners, everybody under the banner of the Crimson Nova was his family, and he was still feeling the loss of them too. Of course whenever he made the wish, they wouldn't remember him either but at least they'd be free and have a fresh start, they'd be alive again to enjoy the sunrise, or the sunset or whatever it is they wanted to do.
Now that Athren had got to experience first hand what loss was like, he wanted to prevent it at all cost, never to have anybody innocent go through that again. Now did this mean Athren would completely stop killing..? No, not at all. He was still willing to end those who deserved it, those who were going to kill and do damage to the innocents. He wasn't going to allow those types of bastards to live, to thrive, no chance in hell! He had to make sure he was ready, ready to put them down in a moments notice and that's why he'd keep training and keep pushing!
It was no longer about being the best or the strongest warrior, it was simply about making sure that his children lived and thrived, that they prevailed and had a really chance to grow old, to live peacefully, to accomplish similar things that Athren did! They deserved that, along with every other innocent creature on the Earth, and it took his own loss to realize that but that's what this was all about. It wasn't about him anymore and maybe that was pushing him to make him even stronger, maybe letting go of his own wants and needs was helping him to thrive, to become better than he ever was before and he wasn't going to stop here.
Athren continued moving around the room, his strikes growing even sharper as he thought of everything driving him to push this hard and not once did his own benefit cross his mind, this was truly a turning point for him. His movement around the room was rapid, fast and didn't slow for even a second as he continued throwing fists and kicks out into the air, his dodging of the moves he imagined much cleaner as he was fully invested in this moment, he didn't plan on slowing down, he didn't plan on stopping and the night would still provide hours for him. Until he burned off enough energy, until he was satisfied he wasn't going to stop. Hell, he might've even stayed up all night if he had too.

Even though he was motivated, Athren knew that this couldn't last forever but he would train for as long as possible tonight. If he had the drive and motivation to carry on, why stop? Why cut success short? It just wasn't practical, he needed to take advantage of every moment like this, where a threat may linger but wasn't present at the moment, these brief pauses before a big fight were the most valuable for a fighter, for anything could happen. He didn't know what Liari was up too, maybe she too had grown much stronger in their time apart. It had been months since he saw her last and it was completely reasonable to expect such a thing. So Athren knew he had to try to be equally prepared, equally devoted for the next time.
The clock was ticking and time wasn't a thing to be wasted. The night would carry on and Athren's shadow-sparring session had continued, though as the night carried on he began to get slower, the weight of the gravity pressing against his skin and pulling him down would eventually fatigue him but he couldn't help but try to push on just a little bit further, a little bit harder. This brought him to a point where he flat out halted and came to a stop, his feet finally coming to a stop on the hard tiled floor of the gravity chamber, his breathing was heavy and his body absolutely drenched in sweat. "Alright.. alright.. Maybe that'll be all for tonight."
Though in this brief pause he couldn't help but see Pybara and understand the words of guidance that the Yardrat elder had given to him, about self control, about following the right path. There was too much at stake here for Athren to just pause and come to a stop, he needed to push on just a little longer but this vision in his head would redirect him to something else, to master a technique that Pybara had taught him, one that could be done right here without continuing any physical motions, but before he continued onto that, he figured it best to take a break and hydrate. It was at this moment that Athren would fade from his super saiyan transformation and revert to his black hair base form and wanted off to go get a snack.
All in all, today had been one of the most successful days in weeks or maybe even months, he couldn't remember the last time he learned a new technique or had such motivation to carry on training this long. Even though he did stop and take a little break, he really didn't want too. He wanted to carry on and keep pushing but he needed to refresh, to hydrate, have a snack and fuel himself for more but with the next choice of training, it was all around better off if he was mentally prepared, for his next training exercise was going to be image training. Though before he got to that, refreshments were needed!
Though Athren was in a rush and eager to get back to the gravity chamber he took his time preparing his next meal and drinking his water. After all of the calories he burnt, he would need so much food in order to replace them and with the time it would take to prepare the meal, eat it and clean up it would provide him with plenty of time to enjoy and relax in preparation before he began to train himself mentally. It was also a good thing that he decided to train himself mentally, his muscles surely couldn't used the break, even though he was well adapted to the gravity at this point it was the long duration of time within it that really made his muscles sore, where he could REALLY feel like he accomplished something. So the hope was simple, take a long enough break to bring himself back to a more relaxed state, so he could focus was key right now.
When it was all done, clean and put away Athren would immediately prepare for what was next. It turned out that tonight was going to be a very long night and he wouldn't sleep until he finished what he set out to do. One more technique improvement, just one more short burst in the gravity and his bed would be calling his name. He just needed to push through it, finish it off and then all the techniques he wanted to perfect would be done and he would be up to par until the next technique he wanted to learn came into play but for now, he just needed to focus on one at a time, needed to accept the small victories before pushing for the big ones. The end of the night was soon to come and Athren would leave his chamber the second time as a better warrior, a more trained and advanced one. He wasn't going to stop pushing tonight, he wouldn't give in or call it quits until he was done. It was one more small push and maybe a few more hours and he'd be happy with the results. He wouldn't quit until the task was completely finished, he wouldn't quit until he mastered Pybara's techniques, he had to make that man proud.
