The list of the events that made their way into Ayu's life, turning the mundane days upside down, somehow kept going. There was unexpected grief and funeral and meetings with various warriors and from each encounter, Ayu learned something new about others. She was aware that she knew very little about the universe and its inhabitants. The lack of knowledge and experience was showing, but she did her best to understand... During that, the young woman also learned about fights that have happened and the brawls that some planned to schedule... Relationships between people she knew were complicated and tangled. It wasn't always possible to get along with everyone, she was aware, but suspecting that some conflicts could happen in the future was already making her uneasy. She hated the idea of people getting hurt more and more... There was also a disappearance of a person she wished was close to her, and a new family member that appeared in his stead. Not to mention the most troubling, the underlying issue, which was her energy getting out of hand lately. The list of events was growing longer and longer...
Doesn't matter what Ayu saw, heard, or did, nothing could have prepared her for information that fell on her head out of blue - that she became an aunt.
To make it weirder, Liari's sudden motherhood caught them both completely off guard. Ayu was woken up one morning to see Bluebell holding close to her chest a miniature and bright pink version of herself... Strawberry bubblegum in color. That was the first thing that Ayu saw. Smooth, pink, taffy-like skin on a five, maybe six-year-old tiny humanoid creature. She wasn't exactly a Mini-Liari, it wasn't a copy of Bluebell - there were many differences, and the little girl was indeed Liari's offspring. Her daughter. A small child. Bluebell seemed both happy and confused and Ayu was utterly perplexed. She wasn't as clueless as one would think, so her thought process rushed towards wondering how would that happen... And with who? She would have noticed if her sister was pregnant, let alone in labor. But then again, looking at her physique and the properties of her rubbery body, Ayu had no clue what exactly Liari could do or what she couldn't. The creation of the little girl was still a mystery to them because it just happened spontaneously but Bluebell with strong conviction assured her, that she was indeed her child... Seeing the little girl blinking and looking around with careful curiosity Ayu could only shake her thoughts away and get out of bed to make them all breakfast. She embraced both and smiled without asking questions. It was easier to accept things as they were - she didn't need to understand it. Liari said that Terra was her daughter, and thus, that made Ayu her aunt.
It had its ups and downs, but Ayu enjoyed having one more soul in their house. The routine changed, but it wasn't bad at all...
That one particular morning, the day seemed to be cloudy. Liari left early again to train somewhere out there, leaving only two of them in the house. While wiping the dishes, Ayu was glancing outside the kitchen window at the sky... Blue, with grey clouds hanging low. Rain was coming their way, perhaps? It won't hurt Liari, but she should get back home before she'd get soaked. Ayu felt a moment of heaviness in her soul before she focused again on the chores. Bluebell didn't have to tell her everything and she wasn't going to push by asking for anything, but deep down she was afraid that Liari could end up in another mess... What if she wouldn't be able to do anything for her again? Or worse, Liari might be the one that created the said mess... Bluebell was Bluebell, and Ayu couldn't with all certainty say that she was a good person - or that she was bad either. People tended to act differently depending on who they interacted with, and that made her wonder... Sometimes Liari's words and actions were making her uneasy. Despite their closeness and bond, Ayu felt like there was a very thin wall between them. Not that she was blaming her. Some things were just difficult to talk about...
Shaking her head Ayu put away the dishes, sliding on two plates some hot pancakes that were frying in the pan. She placed them on the table, next to the bowl full of pretty blueberries and a bottle of maple syrup. It was time to wake up the youngest person in this household. Gently making her way to the room, she knocked on the door and peeked in, to see tiny pink Majin still soundly asleep. Ayu smiled softly.
"Wake up, Sweet Pea," she sat on the corner of the bed, saying that with an affectionate voice. "I made pancakes for breakfast," Ayu gently stroked Terra's cheek. The little one was sleeping in her old room under colorful blankets and pillows. After thinking for a while, Ayu decided to give Terra her place, moving into the other room where her grandfather used to be. It wouldn't be good for a little girl to stay in a room that belonged to a grumpy old man, so she moved there herself. Ayu didn't mind switching - she loved to see Terra having fun in her room and playing with the few plushies that she had on the shelves. She got her cute niece coloring books and pencils, some new toys, and ribbons, that the little one liked to tie in her green hair when she was sleeping. After all, she was an older sister, and now she became an auntie.
Not a turn she expected her life to take, but who was she to say anything? She had soft spot for children.

Terra snoozed softly amongst the covers of her bed, the little girl clinging to a stuffed rabbit almost as large as herself! Her expression, soft and satisfied, enveloped in the warmth of family and love, protecting her from everything. Ever since Terra had been "born," she had known nothing but the love and sweetness of her family. Ayu had cared for her almost like a second mother, eagerly tending to her needs while momma was out training! Momma Liari herself was almost as kind but also as attentive, teaching Terra to fight... in what minor ways she could, and how to control her magic! Already, Terra had been showing more versatility than her mother, making little flower-like things in her hands... and without transmutation like auntie Ayu!
Every day was an adventure for Terra, a game, a time to be alive! She found almost EVERYTHING interesting from the BIG BLASTS her momma could generate, to the smallest sprouts Ayu would farm. She would do everything she could to be involved with anything her family did and was almost NEVER bored! Her boundless energy brought sunshine upon dreary days and a soothing presence when tensions rose if for no other reason than she loved to see everyone smile...
...However, like all children, when they crashed, they crashed HARD. Terra had spent ALL DAY playing yesterday and had to be carried back to bed by her auntie! It was here that she lay, practically buried in her covers... and it was here that Ayu would sit beside her, the woman's soft palm resting against her cheek! Ayu's touch was as light as a feather but as warm as sunlight, enough to get the dead-asleep little girl to stirr slightly in her respite... that... and the sweet smell of freshly-cooked pancakes!
"Mmmmmmmmh..." She mumbled softly, her eyes clenching shut as if DENYING the outside world... before slowly peeking open! Small red irises in black sockets peered out innocently from between their pink lids, staring up at Ayu's welcoming face uncomprehendingly in her exhaustion... before slowly glowing with love...
"...Auntie Ayu...?" Terra mumbled, leaning her face into the soft green hand that held it! "...Mmm... Warm...." If Terra would have been left on her own to get up, she might've just slept the day away in her bed! The grip sleep had on her still seemed iron-clad, even if her second-favoritest person in the world was here to wake her! It even seemed as if the little girl might fall asleep again... until she mentioned the pancakes!
"...Pancakes...?" Terra would sit up, her eyes as wide and eager as her smile at the sound... and SMELL of breakfast! ...And that fruity-smell... Were those... "Blueberry...?"
Terra would reach up to her auntie and pull herself against her, wrapping her small arms around her neck, then her legs around her body so that she could be CARRIED to the table!
"Thank you..." She mumbled... then YAWNED softly before burying her face in Ayu's neck! "...You best auntie ever... Love you.... lots..."

To be honest, if Liari did not have nightmares and didn't have to wake up early for training, she too was a sleepyhead... Terra got it after her. Looking at this tiny creature, Ayu wondered a bit - if she hadn't appeared, their lives wouldn't change as much, but it still was hard to believe how much impact this small person had. Liari was of course shocked that she suddenly became a mother, but it felt like she made peace with that fairly quickly. Ayu was the worrywart in this situation, as usual... Because, what would they do when Terra gets older? They would need a bigger place to live. And more food, but that wouldn't be that hard with their abilities. Paying bills and taxes was going smoother than ever, that's true. What about school and identification? To be honest she doubted that Liari was marked in the system of Earth as a citizen and she knew she wouldn't like the idea. It's not like Ayu wanted her to do this, but if anyone would stumble into this secluded place and order them to tackle the threat of the IDs and other similar stuff... Surely Liari would be able to scare them away, but for how long? Ayu wasn't sure she could attend the university this year or maybe even the next one too. Should they try to look for another place to live? Somewhere away from the world, perhaps...
Maybe she really was worrying too much.
Ayu gently stroked the little girl's cheek. Unlike Liari, Terra's eyes were red. Red, soft and sweet, while her mother did sometimes have a flash of similar scarlet coloration in her irises, the emotions that carried this hue were completely different... So far, she never saw Terra angry or annoyed. Well, sometimes she was fussy not wanting to brush her teeth before sleep, but that was it. Feeling how her chest was warming up from within, Ayu placed her hand on Terra's head, patting her gently.
"Someone's a sleepyhead again..." Ayu couldn't help but chuckle softly, helping Terra out of her nest full of covers, plushies, and blankets. Small kids do sleep a lot to grow... But then again, would Terra grow like a regular kid? Well, Ayu had no clue what was normal for the Majin race, so perhaps she shouldn't worry too much. She rubbed her back trying to help her niece wake up, but it seemed that the food did the trick. Did all Majin love sweets? Ayu smiled. She watched as a little girl perked up and smelled the air, gaining the energy to eat as if her life depended on it. "Yes," she laughed, pulling Terra towards herself when she clung to her warmly. "We got blueberry pancakes, some nice butter, and maple syrup," Ayu stood up. "I love you too, Sweet Pea," she patted her head and pressed her lips against her pink forehead. She was glad that the little one loved blueberries that much because at any time she could create lots of them for her to eat. Her power surprisingly came in handy in creating things that could entertain children - like a jungle playground or swing in the backyard. Carrying this tiny girl wasn't a problem for her at all... But she was big enough to walk by herself to the kitchen, yet each time she would wrap herself around Ayu lovingly, she didn't have the heart to tell her to let go. Maybe she was spoiling Terra a little bit...
Since she appeared the place felt even more lively, filled with her chatter and laughter. Ayu quite well adjusted to the idea of being an aunt and altering the small house to make space for another tiny being wasn't actually that hard. If her grandfather would miraculously get back home from being gone for more than half a year now, he'd surely be surprised to see not one but two more tenants. Of course, she wouldn't let him chase them away... She missed Zhang sometimes, but Liari and Terra were her family more than he'd ever could be.
Ayu carried Terra to the bathroom first, helping her wash her face and hands before they went to the kitchen. She placed the little girl on her chair that was of course cushioned with two extra pillows, so she could reach the table. The table was prepared already for breakfast and Terra had her own colorful plate and cutlery, with a matching cup that Ayu just filled with tea.
"Let's eat," she said with a smile, taking her place next to Terra and taking a sip of the tea from her mug. A few weeks ago it was a simple white cup, but after her niece snatched it with her colorful markers, it was a cute and a bit chaotic piece of art with flowers doodled on the surface. Each day Ayu struggled with washing the mug, being careful to not wipe away the picture that Terra drew for her... Maybe she should get some varnish for that? Hmm... Ayu glanced at the window. "I think it will be raining today... What should we do now?" she asked Terra with a curious smile, wondering what the little one would have planned for this type of weather.

Terra blushed softly and cooed as Ayu held her close, softly kissing her forehead. Terra sometimes wished she could be woken up like this every day... Maybe if she slept in more, she could coax her Auntie or Momma to come wake her up like this... It was just so nice to be held so early in the morning, to be cradled and kissed and loved on so gently... If Terra had it her way, she would have pulled Ayu and her Momma into the same room, put them in bed and snuggled with them both ALLLL DAY... Sure, it'd be lazy, but this was the BEST way to be closest to the two people she loved most in the whole world...
...Maybe she WOULD do that someday...
...Maybe she'd convince them this evening...
For now, though, it was time to enjoy a home-cooked meal! ...BUT FIRST, THE BATHROOM!
"Awwwh... But Auntieeeee..." Terra whined softly as she was placed in front of the sink. "Hands cleeeeeeeean..." ...But Ayu insisted! No niece of HERS was gonna come to the table with unwashed hands! So it was, with a reluctant huff, Terra would scrub her little pink hands clean, making sure to use the soap and scrub THOROUGHLY to ensure she wouldn't have to do it again! It wasn't so much that Terra didn't LIKE washing her hands... it was more that she wanted to get to breakfast... like... YESTERDAY! She was HUNGRY, as could be heard by everyone from the GROWLING of her belly!
...But it was okay... She wasn't gonna be all huffy for long! She knew Ayu was just trying to do her best, tend to her as she thought she needed to so that everything turned out alright... and besides... SHE MADE BLUEBERRY PANCAKES! WHO COULD STAY MAD AT THAT!?
Terra hopped eagerly beside her seat as Ayu prepared it for her, carefully stacking too pillows upon it so that, when Terra sat down, she'd be able to reach her plate! What was more, Ayu had gone out of her WAY to prepare ALL THE FANCY STUFF this morning! The pretty flower-dishes/forks were out, Ayu had even prepared her favorite cup for the majin child, pretty little flowers inscribed across its rounded face! Terra had taken it upon herself to add some color to the once drab, white mug, drawing all sorts of pretty flowers! Ayu seemed to like it! Maybe she'd doodle on the other cups too!
The little pink girl couldn't help but OGGLE the setup, always surprised by how much EFFORT Ayu put into her mornings. ...THEIR mornings.
"Auntie Ayu.... It all so PERFECT!" Terra cheered, clapping her hands together excitedly! "Thank you! I LOVE! LOVE YOU!" She flashed Ayu a BIG smile before digging into her food, chowing down as rapidly, as hungrily, but not quite as carelessly as a saiyan might! After all, Momma and Ayu were VERY insistent on table-manners! Napkin in lap, fork and knife, and be sure not to splatter food when you dug into it!
As Terra ate, though, Ayu couldn't help but note the weather, the little girl looking up from her plate just long enough notice... how DARK the clouds were outside... yeah... It DID look like rain was imminent... so what WOULD they do...?
"Mahbeh..." Terra mused, mouth full of pancake... before she washed it down with a BIG sip of delicious Ayu-brewed tea! "...Maybe we play game! Game is good! Maybe we practice magics!"

Ayu enjoyed interacting with kids more often than staying in the presence of people her age or older. It felt awkward. She was shy and most of the time she felt like she was being judged by her bashful nature... But with the little ones? It was never a problem. They were sincere and Ayu found it easier to talk with them about any given subject. Maybe she was being childish herself sometimes... But she would often get nervous when she could sense that the hue of energy and the mood were not matching the voice or words of the people she talked with. Adults were contradictory, children were honest - Ayu disliked lying, and, well, her face was always like an open book, so it was easy to guess with what group she'd get along better.
"Eat up, sweetie," Ayu smiled warmly in response to a very heartwarming love declaration, sitting on her chair next to the little Majin girl. Terra didn't lose any time and started her breakfast, not straying from answering her question. She was going to stay home today nevertheless - with her headaches and some Ki uneven fluctuating, it would be safer this way. And while at it, why not have some quality time with her niece? "Magic..?" she mused, slowly nodding her head. "We might... But we need to be careful, alright?" Ayu's eyes glanced at the ceiling, where the burnt mark as big as the table was still visible under layers of white paint. They did try to cover it... The last attempt at using magic while cooking did not go as planned. Thank gods that the watering hose was right next to the kitchen window. Since this little accident, the young woman wasn't so keen on using any powers while preparing meals, because in the tiny kitchen it rarely worked. Something always got shot, sliced, blasted... It simply wasn't practical. It was better to do things the old-fashioned way rather than risk their household blowing up one way or another. Be it by magic or energy or... Well, Ayu couldn't exactly tell those apart, perhaps because in her case it seemed to be mixed. Ki and mana, it all was one, albeit hybrid, type of energy, coming from one source - her. Ah, it all was complicated. What one would call magic others could name an impact of Ki. So, with that in mind, how should they play with magic here, making sure to not endanger the house?
With her cheek resting on her hand, Ayu was looking at Terra eating heartily her breakfast, unaware of a soft smile on her face. Cute, pink, and soft cheeks were stuffed with pancakes as the girl was showing a great appetite. The little one was quite gifted with magic, making various things appear just like her mother. In that case, she couldn't beat them - Ayu could only pull plants out of thin air - not boxes full of pralines. It wasn't as healthy though, but as far as she knew, Majins were able to eat practically anything, the nutritional value wasn't a priority here. At least without being too fussy Terra was eating vegetables and fruits. If someone would tell her a month ago that she soon would be preparing a meal plan for a little child, Ayu wouldn't have believed them... But here they were.
"Game and magic, huh?" she stroked her cheek thoughtfully. Ayu made a slow motion with her finger, drawing a circle in the air - like painted by a soft brush, green stalks appeared. They grew, creating delicate buds on the tips of the tendrils, which all bloomed into vividly pink flowers of fragrant, sweet pea. She held them gently for a moment, placing the plant on the top of the table, and smiling a little. "What you say? We could try making something to surprise your mum when she gets back," Ayu purposely didn't point any idea here, not talking about the shape or matter of the surprise. After all, a child's imagination was a great thing, not to be limited by suggestions.

"Mhm! Careful!" Terra parroted before getting back to her food! Between her and Liari, Terra was most certainly the safer of the two! While momma was always off training and fighting and stuff, Terra could be MUCH MORE EASILY satisfied with much simpler, much more child-friendly games! Cutting shapes out of construction paper? Terra LOVED it! Coloring with magic markers? She could go through an entire book in a week! Sometimes, she even got to cook alongside her auntie! She got to poor the milk out of the measuring cup or... or "clean" the batter bowl when they were making cookies!
Terra... just loved being around her family and doing things and it rarely mattered what! Heck, even if "careful" meant they couldn't do a lot of things she might've wanted to at the time, the little pink girl was MORE than content to accommodate!
Why?
Because it made her auntie and momma smile, that's why!
As Terra finished up her meal (including lapping up the syrup all over her plate), Ayu would take this time to muse about what they could do today, eventually offering that they make something SPECIAL, A SURPRISE, for Liari when she got back!
...As if flipping a switch, this INSTANTLY nabbed the little girl's attention, still lapping her sticky, syrupy lips with her wide, red eyes staring at Ayu attentively!
"YAY! WE MAKE PRESENT!" Terra announced happily, her hands SHOOTING over her head in excitement! "PRESENT! PRESENT! MAGIC PRESENT!"
As if to demonstrate what she was thinking, Ayu would lightly draw a pattern in the air with her finger, wherever the tip of her finger traced causing a vine to bloom forth and crawl across the table! Beautiful pink flowers would BLOOM with a soft, but alluringly sweet scent, one the little girl took in with a dreamy smile as she leaned in and sniffed the delicate petals!
"...You so cool, Auntie..." Terra sighed softly. She would hop out of her chair before walking up to her favoritest aunt, raising her arms up to show that she WANTED "up!" She wanted to be carried! If Ayu obliged her, Terra would lean in and give her a very soft kiss to the forehead, a little gesture she had picked up after received so MANY herself!
"Love you Auntie~!" Terra exclaimed proudly before holding her hands out in front of her as if cradling something. Slowly, light would generate between her palms, coagulating into a small ball of energy! Terra's face scrunched up a bit in concentration, her tongue poking out between her lips as she seemed to struggle before....
*POOOOOOF*
A large cloud of smoke ERUPTED from between Terra's hands and, when it cleared, it was revealed that Terra held... a FLOWER in her hand! Granted, it wasn't a REAL flower, what with it still being made of candy, but it was beautiful nonetheless! A white and red-striped candy-cane flower with minty leaves was held in Terra's hands, a flower almost a third the size of its creator... and all for one very special person!
"For you, Auntie!" She declared, holding the BIG candy flower out to her! "Special present for you too~!"

Post by Ayu on Sept 17, 2022 17:12:41 GMT -5
Living with a small child wasn't as easy and stressless as one could assume. Even if that child was as capable and bright as Terra, things could get messy very quickly. This place was prone to accidents even before the little one was born, so it wasn't weird that the number of mishaps grew after another person appeared. So each day could get loud, dirty, colorful, or full of surprises, which sometimes needed long hours of cleaning and a bit of a lecture afterward...
But living without those two would be boring and she would never give up on them. Never.
So... Present it was. What could they possibly make for Liari? In second grade, at school, Ayu vaguely remembered making some paperwork and colorful crafts that the kids were supposed to give to their guardians. It's not like Zhang never appreciated the gifts, he always told Ayu to put them away and would forget completely about them. Now, that wouldn't happen here - but the magic part was the most important. Ayu started to fear for the safety of the ceiling again, yet she couldn't stop a small smile, blooming on her face. She could only nod while seeing this type of enthusiasm. When it comes to their emotions, both Terra and Liari could never hide how they were feeling. Each and every little thing was seen and heard very clearly when they both vocalized their moods. Ayu was a bit similar in that regard, but her emotions were quieter, rather seen than heard - but she still was like an open book. Perhaps that runs in the family?
"Oh, thank you," Ayu smiled, lowering her head to kiss Terra on the forehead. She took the present from the pair of small, cute, and pink hands. After some time and the presence of the Majin duo, she got used to certain magic tricks and plays around the house. She raised the candy flower higher to have a better look at it - it was really impressive! Not to mention the size of course, which in itself was quite amazing. Little Majin was small so using the energy in her body could be harder for her, judging by the mana and body ratio that it... But she had no problems with that. Like, ever. "You're getting better at it with every try..." she nodded to herself thoughtfully, smiling with a bit of a soft pride. Ayu wasn't the one to teach Terra all the magic tricks but she surely felt glad each time she spotted that her little niece's experience was growing. Down to every detail, the veins on the leaf, the shape of the stalk, and the soft, malleable texture of the petals, Terra did a great work mimicking nature. And with the substance like sweets! Of course, tulips do not come in white and red striped patterns, and they definitely don't taste like mint candy canes, but the shape and even the feel of the surface were exactly the same. Omitting a faint stickiness of sugar that is. "Let me put it here, so we can show your mum later what a pretty thing you made," Ayu pulled out of a cupboard a thin, long vase and put the flower inside it. It was candy, so no need for watering - honestly it looked like a modern, unusual decoration. She placed it in the middle of the windowsill.
"Alright, now... Would you help me do the dishes? And while we're at it, let's think about what present we could prepare," gently patting Terra on her back, Ayu was gathering the plates and cups from the kitchen table. Chores weren't as hard for a smart and capable child like Terra, but like every kid, she had different priorities. Yet again, what was better than doing something that grownups do? Even if it was as boring as cleaning? Ayu knew better than to shush her niece and give her some toys so she'd be occupied for long enough, no - Terra had her own little duties. Like wiping the washed dishes clean. Ayu pulled a small stool for the pink Majin to stand on, so she could reach the counter safely, and as usual, they would chat too. Time passes faster with a nice company, isn't that right?
"Let's see..." Ayu started to think about it herself, while she was washing the plates and passing the clean dishes to Terra, so she could wipe them. What present could they make that would involve magic and would surprise Liari? Glancing at the window, at the world drowning in rain, Ayu sighed a little. Well, anything that would be about sweets and sugar and strawberries would be a safe bet, but not as exciting. Besides, since the Bluebell learned to use her powers and pull candies out of thin air, it seemed a little boring. What was the point of making strawberry tarts if she could snap her fingers and create a ton of those with magic..? Well, Ayu still enjoyed them, knowing that her sister loved them so much. "Hmm..." Ayu exhaled softly. "What do you think will be the first thing that your mum is going to do when she'd be back?" she turned her head to Terra, trying this tricky question to see what idea she'd have about the foretold surprise. Ayu mentioned it as a loose idea to occupy them during the rainy day, but it seemed the whole day will be about that... Why not? Terra seemed to be pretty happy about that already.

Terra blushed softly and smiled as Ayu kissed her head, the little pink girl giggling nervously but happily! She had been trying SO HARD to copy Ayu's powers! Sometimes, when her auntie was out gardening, Terra would be observing the flowers and the roots, trying to make them GROW like she could! She would make the same motions, channel (what she thought was) the same magics... but the best she could do BEFORE was make tasty, sugary things!
...This was the first time she had been able to make something as complex as a flower... and Terra couldn't have been prouder of herself! Not least because she got the BIGGEST smile out of her auntie yet! She was getting better... and auntie said so, so it must've been true! Terra could see it now... Until made REAL flowers, she was gonna spend AAAAAAALL her free time playing with her magic! Transmuting things, making things from scratch... all until she could match Auntie Ayu! Then, they could garden together eeeeeven better than before!
In fact, she was gonna go make one for her momma-
...OR NOT!
Once Ayu had the candy-cane flower where she wanted it to be, Ayu had asked for the little girl's help! DISHES! AH, HER MORTAL NEMISIS! Well, not really... Doubly not really when she'd be doing it with someone she LOVED like auntie, but... she was REALLY excited to practice her magic! Her mind kept flicking back to the flower Ayu had set up, imagining how it might look without the candy-coating! She could just picture making a crown, already made woven and pretty, of flowers to place on her family's heads, maybe even a whole regal CLOAK to drape them in!
...GASP!
THEN THEY COULD PLAY FLOWER-PRINCESS WITH REAL PROPS THAT TERRA MADE HERSELF!
So deep in her plotting was she that Terra almost didn't acknowledge her auntie's beckoning, her face blooming into an excited grin with her eyes SPARKLING with elation! She could do it... she KNOWS she could! Momma and auntie would be so proud of her! She just KNEW IT!
...But such dreams would have to remain in the clouds for now as Terra FINALLY made her way to the sink, climbing atop the stool provided for her and getting to work! ...At least her duties were only drying the freshly-scrubbed plates... With a chore this simple, she could keep her head in the clouds just a wee-bit longer! The rhythmic process of washing, drying and stacking dishes almost allowed the little pink majin a kind of pseudo-training montage in her mind, a series of failures that get closer and closer until-
"...Huh?" Terra blinked, not realizing Ayu had been speaking to her until she was half-way through it! Luckily, what she DID catch, she was able to guess the general message and quickly form some kind of meaningful response!
"OH! Uhhhhhhhm... She... She hug me, then hug you!" Terra answered with a sunny smile, as if she'd answered the question perfectly! She was RIGHT too! Liari ALWAYS came back with love for them both! Of course, TERRA got hers first, a hug, a kiss, maybe even a nuzzle from her momma, then Ayu got the same... only, she wasn't allowed to pick her up for it! ...But somehow, Terra didn't think this was exactly what auntie Ayu meant...
"Hmm..." Terra wondered, tapping the tip of her chin with her finger... Then her eyes lit up! "OH! She play with me! That what she do! We always go playfight outside! Maybe we make something for that!" Already, Terra was coming up with ideas! Cotton-candy boxing gloves, maybe padded gummy headgear.... Maybe a BIG CANDY PUNCHING BAG! THERE WERE OPTIONS!
"She also like spending time with you sometime!" Terra also offered, spreading her arms WIDE! as if trying to encompass the world! "...FOR LONG TIME! You two talk for-EVER!" ...The little girl smiled, if with a TEENY bit of frustration. Sometimes, Liari would come home and Terra could feel something was wrong. Liari never did anything... but her daughter could tell she was mad. The way she came inside, sometimes the forced-nature of the smile... sometimes in how her tentacles WRITHED, betraying her mood when all-else didn't! ...On those days, she and Ayu would disappear for hours at a time. Terra knew NOT where they went... but they always came back, so she never worried! ...At least... insofar as them disappearing... Terra wished her Momma would talk with her sometimes, let her know what was bothering her... She could help! She knew she could!
...But she didn't wanna make it worse by asking! Maybe she could help this way....?

The imagination of a child could make any day brighter... And simply observing Terra was enough to warm up to her anyone. Be it her child mannerism or gesticulation or even the cute faces she was making, pouring every emotion into her posture... She was a vivid, bright kid. What's there to dislike? Since Liari moved to Ayu's place, the house became warmer and more welcoming, but it was Terra's appearance that filled it with laughter. But the little pink niece wasn't all that of course. There were moments when Terra was making a brave face when she didn't like something or when she was trying to hold back on her reaction even when she was getting angry or sad. Maybe she didn't understand everything that was happening around them, but she still reacted to that. And in a way that wouldn't make them worry, which was surprising for Ayu. Kids could be selfish. They were kids. Yet, at times it felt like Terra was showing the maturity that they didn't think she could have... That's why, as her aunt, despite chores, lessons, and other things at play, Ayu wanted her to enjoy being a kid. So they could all have fun like that... It seemed that both Ayu and Liari were regaining bit a bit of their child-like selves just by playing with Terra. It made her enjoy looking after her little pink niece.
Too bad that they couldn't possibly play outside today.
"I don't think we could do much in this weather..." she pointed out, glancing at the window. The sky already started to send the first drops to the surface, and the soft pitter-patter murmured outside. Terra still talked and Ayu almost expected her to puff out her cheeks when she mentioned that her mum and aunt talk together too much.
Ayu couldn't help but give Terra an apologetic smile. It was the truth. Liari and Ayu sometimes had to leave the house - there were moments when the two of them needed to have a serious talk... While Ayu was the person lacking fighting experience, who was closer to the ground and the feelings of herself and others, Liari could be only described as chaos. Not in a vile way, no. Out of the two, Majin knew more about fighting and the dangers that the world carried within. She was full of contrasts and conflicting ideas. Perhaps it was her absorbing other people that was messing with her head... Not to mention her nightmares and headaches that were resurfacing every now and then - which was troubling indeed. But there was a certain part of Liari that was still caring, loving, enjoying fun - not like a child that she used to be, but... In a more mature figured-it-out kind of way. Seeing Liari helping out around the house, reading bedtime stories to Terra, enjoying herself with simple tasks and pleasures of the daily, peaceful life... It was proof to Ayu, that part of her wanted this. She could deduce it on her own, simply by observing her little sister who was matching so well to this everyday life. Bluebell could use a stable, welcoming home, a place to always return, to have a peaceful, quiet time just for herself and her family. But would it truly harmonize with her, Ayu didn't know.
At the same time, another part of Liari was eager to fight. To challenge herself and others, to exchange blows and blasts, and that wasn't something that Ayu was going to condemn. How could she? It was Liari's way of living. She met enough warriors to see how important to them fighting was and there was nothing wrong about it, no... It was the destruction that followed. It never was a given, because there were people level-headed about the whole sparring and challenging manner, focusing on improving themselves or those that couldn't care less about other lives. And that was something that Ayu feared deep down... That the chaos, the pleasure that was taken from the devastation, from stripping life from others, leaving nothing but ashes... What if it would at one point be more tempting and attractive than a peaceful yet uneventful life on the forest's outskirts? It very well might be. After all, if it was the thrill of fight Liari was looking for, Ayu couldn't help in any way and she was in a losing position right away.
She sighed, a little bit too deeply when doubt crept inside her head. The young woman always assured Liari, that no matter what would happen and what she would do, Ayu would always love her. And she wouldn't ever falter with that conviction... Yet it didn't mean that she would agree with everything that Bluebell does or will do. She dreaded the possibility of the little sister she loved spiraling into a more destructive path - they often talked. Ayu always listened. Assured. Embraced and comforted. But... What if it won't be enough? She believed in Liari, but in the end, her choices were her own. But if believing in someone doesn't give them comfort or strength, it wasn't better than doing nothing, was it..?
Terra was someone she wished to protect and hoped that she won't ever be placed in this situation. She was sure Liari felt the same about the pink, little girl, that eagerly was putting away wiped-down dishes on a small pile next to the sink. Without noticing it, Ayu's face softened, when she gently patted Terra's head.
"I think that your mum could get back pretty tired after training," Ayu gently shook her head to keep at bay all those uneasy thoughts that started to worry her. She smiled at Terra, helping her jump out of the stool by grabbing her by her hands and rocking her in the air. "And it's still raining... What you say, we make her a nice fort?" she put her niece down and raised her finger while suggesting her idea for the present. The gift doesn't have to be a material thing, right? "We can make it with pillows and blankets, so the three of us can lay there and sleep together. You could decorate it in any way you like..." a tilt of the head pointed to the ribbons and drawings put on the strings with colorful clips. "And we can make some snacks too. Do you like it? What do you think?"

Terra leaned into Ayu's hand as she patted her head, letting out a very soft sigh of contentment. The little girl craved attention and contact and treasured every bit of it. She never had to act out to get it, even with Auntie Ayu and Momma working all the time, usually finding ways to help them or other people to play with! ...But that didn't mean that she didn't care for the love Ayu showed her in moments like these any less. If anything, the fact her Auntie, so busy doing a buncha different things from thinking, to dish-washing, to who-knows-what, made the little pink girl love her family even more!
They put time ASIDE for her! They WANTED to do things with her and made them happen! Terra didn't know what it was like for other kids her age but for her? That sort of thing was just MAGICAL! So yes, she leaned into Ayu's hand and sighed softy as she rubbed the top of her head! She loved it and would treasure it forever...
...But what to do about Momma? Auntie was right, the weather wasn't gonna be as kind to them today! Terra glanced out a nearby window, her go-lucky grin falling to a dissatisfied frown. Usually the sun was out, shining up the day like the little pink girl herself but this time... boy it was so GREY! ...Maybe she could even hear thunder off in the distance! Her sanguine eyes narrowed, then, in thought as she directed her gaze upwards, maybe seeking to find in the ceiling (or the heavens, even) where she couldn't find right in front of her!
"What we can make..." She mumbled, setting her plate aside and taking a new one! That was when Ayu came to the rescue, suggesting that Momma might be really tired after work... tired and wet! Maybe... Maybe they could make a big, snuggly pillow fort! Terra's eyes widened! Already, she could see it: a small castle of fluffy pillows all stacked up together, Terra between her Auntie and Momma as they snuggle together in the warmth of the pillows!
It was enough to make that smile FLIP right back around! A DREAM COME TRUE!
"Yeeeeeeah!" Terra cheered, THROWING HER HANDS UP INTO THE AIR... and nearly losing her dish! Luckily, she caught it quickly, letting out a little nervous giggle before setting it aside in the drying rack!
"Heh... oops..." She snickered, her eyes flicking up at Ayu to catch her reaction... before flicking back down at the sink... Oh, boy... she was one slip-up away from making this moment go from great to... not great... "But YEEEEAH! We make fort! Big, nice fluffy fort! For Momma and us! Yeeeeah! Pillow and snack! Pillow and snack!"
...And like that, the happy mood was reborn! Terra would step down from her stool and reach out for her auntie, wrapping her arms around her waist and hugging her close!
"Thank you..." She mumbled softly, nuzzling her face into her legs! "...You always so nice... I so happy..."

Ah, children. Seeing Terra all happy and smiling at her, Ayu wondered why the sky hasn't cleared already. It should have! There was still a possibility that they could ask Liari to blast away the clouds but she didn't like the idea of interfering with nature. Even if it was only rain and there shouldn't be any harm in that... No, they found something else to do. Her niece loved the idea of creating a pillow fort and she was glad she could help - mostly because doing magic tricks indoors could lead to some... Unexpected effects and damages. Despite the number of cracks in the walls and burnt furniture, Ayu could never get angry at those two. Not like she could get angry at anyone but the point was she had soft spot for the two Majins here. They were her family. How could she not love this little pink bubblegum who hugged her waist and murmured so sweetly that she was happy with her aunt? Her heart melted already. Ayu couldn't help but stroke her soft and smooth head. Terra's hugs were always tight and warm.
"I'm happy with you too, Sweet Pea," she smiled, her hand moving from the top of her head towards her soft rubbery cheek. Looking back, at the thought that she would tell someone that she loves them, or express any feelings like that, Ayu's face would turn as red as a ripe tomato - but it didn't work this way with Liari and Terra. Family love was something else, something precious that she gained when she gave up on having it. With her grandfather's stern personality, she stopped looking for his approval and affection, and then Bluebell appeared out of, well, blue. A while later, Terra magically popped out and here they were, living together in her house. Ayu softly patted Terra's arm to gently let her know that they need to wrap up their work. She put away the last of the dishes and wiped her hands dry with a clean kitchen towel. They cleaned after breakfast! So now...
"Shall we?" she smiled at the little Majin. "Let's bring here every pillow, blanket, and quilt we have," taking Terra's hand, she guided her to her new bedroom - and her grandfather's old room. If they want to make a decent fort, the one that would have enough space for the three of them, they would need a lot of stuff. Liari was a towering figure so they better bring every sheet and cushion in the house! The bed frame was hiding neatly folded blankets and some extra pillows that Ayu kept inside. With Terra's help, they looted the whole house! The girl started moving out of their way the furniture in the main room of their small house, putting chairs on top of the table and pushing away the sofa up to the wall. Soon enough they had quite a lot of space on their hands. And an enormous pile of blankets, pillows, and even plushies as tall as Ayu next to them.
"I... I think that's enough," she scratched her cheek and chuckled a bit. She glanced at Terra and slowly grabbed the nearest blanket... Only to throw it at the little Majin without a warning. The little one disappeared under the woolen fabric and she hugged her, still covered with a blanket, pulling her closer and leaning on the pile of pillows. "Oh my, what have I caught~?" Ayu asked out loud, tickling Terra through the fabric and giggling. Because why not? There were not many times in her life when she could be a child. Having Sweet Pea around felt like she was slowly but surely getting back some of the child-like playfulness and wonder that faded away long ago.

Terra giggled softly as Ayu stroked her cheek, leaning into her hand as it came around to her face. It was so warm and soft, the hand of her auntie... Terra was so happy that she got to meet her, to live with her, to see her every day! Terra was the adventurous sort, eager to do more, see more, have fun with more people... but it was difficult for the little pink majin to imagine coming home to a house without her Auntie in it... She hoped a day like that would NEVER come.
Terra eagerly took her auntie's hand as she guided her into an extra BIG bedroom, HER bedroom! It was so much larger than the others, with all the space in the WORLD to do things in! Play in toys, float around, or maybe just nap on the floor! ...It would be the perfect place to build a fort! Momma would NEVER expect it! Auntie Ayu seemed to think so too, asking that they bring every pillow and blanket in here to build!
"Yes, Auntie Ayu!" Terra declared, saluting to her new forman! "We make best pillow fort ever!" And they did! In a relatively short span of time, Terra and Ayu worked together to pillage the WHOLE HOUSE of its pillow-supply, taking them from furnature, beds, closets, and more! Things were moved, doors were opened, the whole house looked like it had been visited by a crew of vikings... vikings that built a towering fortress of fabric and foam!
"TADAAAAAH!" Terra exclaimed reaching up to the top of their massive pillow fortress! It was MASSIVE, reaching up almost to the ceiling and arching all along the sides of the room! Pillows upon pillows neatly stacked upon one another, Terra also having experimented with her magic a bit more to have threaded the seams together JUST ENOUGH so that the pillows stuck! In her mind, it was the BEST THING IN THE WORLD, a product of what two people who loved each other could do when they were building something for a third! Terra looked up at Ayu and beamed like a lightbulb, her eyes flashing a warm, cuddly pink as she reached out to hug her Auntie's leg!
"Love you, Auntie..." Terra mumbled, burying her face in Ayu's thigh. "You make best day ever..." With that, the little pink majin would turn her back to Ayu, returning her eyes to the fort in order to admire her handiwork! Little did Terra know of the nefarious plot that was being hatched just behind her... at least, until the quilt had been thrown over her like a sack!
"AAAAH!" Terra cried, flailing at the surprise blanket attack, that cry breaking into laughter as Ayu wrapped her up like a burrito in her arms, tickling her with tactical pokes of her fingers! "AAAHAHAHHHHAAAAAHAHAHA! STOOP! STOOAAAAHAHAH!" Tears ran from her eyes as Ayu had her way with the poor pink majin, cooing to her and asking what she had caught!
"MEEE! AHAHAH! MEEE, AUNTIE! YOU CAUGHT MEEEEEE! HAHAHAHAH!" Poor Terra was helpless against her Auntie's onslaught, completely held captive in her devilishly ticklish embrace! Oh, what would she do? Who could come to save her from the fearsome ticklemonster?

It's not like Ayu had any other plans today. Being an aunt would have to do! She graduated from school some time ago and the university was still out of her reach, yet the soft, peaceful days were all she could ask for. Maybe the girl truly was satisfied with something like that but it didn't feel bad. Quite opposite. No parents and an always absent grandfather were equal to a pretty lonely childhood when she couldn't give or receive any kind of affection. Having a little sister and a lovely niece now was slowly healing that memory and Ayu could pour all of her care into people she considered her family. Her true family, not by blood but by choice. Didn't it make it even stronger? She preferred to stay with two Majin rather than walk among the crowds. Besides, with her condition, it would be wise to avoid places far away from home. It would be troubling to go out knowing that a nasty nosebleed or a headache could be creeping near... So while it was raining and she had some quality time with her niece, why not enjoy it to the fullest? It was a perfect time to build a cozy and welcoming fort out of everything soft and pillowy in their house.
So the blanket fort they built! A considerable amount of big cushions and wooly covers were left on the ground to make their rest as comfortable as possible. Terra threw in all of her plushies and Ayu pulled out thick blankets suitable for colder weather, laying them evenly in their nest. Soon enough, with every step, they would stand ankle-deep in the fluffy mattress that they made, perfect for napping, cuddling, and reading fairy tails out loud. Ayu got some thinner, lighter covers that were used for the walls and the ceiling of their fort. Well, not exactly, they were more like decorations around their enormous pile of blankets in the middle of the room. With the help of a trusty twine and some of Terra's magic, they were able to create quite an amazing fort indoors! An elaborated construction looked even prettier when Ayu dug up forgotten string lights and hung them by the ceiling. Charming lights were softly twinkling at them from above. They made an open entrance, secured the edges with pillows and here it was. Their pillow fortress was finished!
"Oh my, it looks amazing~" Ayu clapped admiring their masterpiece and carefully walking on the pillowed floor. She glanced at Terra and giggled, the little pink Majin standing proudly on the top of the pile - but a second later she swooped her in her arms, tickling and hugging her close. A pleasant cascade of children's laughter filled the room. "Yes, I've caught you~" she laughed, sneaking her hands under the covers to free Sweet Pea. Ayu grabbed Terra, drawing her closer and pulling away the blankets from her head - to see a little disheveled, giggly, and happy pink girl. She lifted her, putting her small weight on her hip, and embraced her warmly. It just felt right. Her aunt kissed her rubbery cheek and looked at her with a smile. "Now, we have secured our fortress," she glanced at the clock. It was that hour already? Weren't they eating breakfast a moment ago? Hmm... Ayu winked at Terra. "I think it's time to gather some treasures for us to enjoy. A book maybe? Or crayons?" She placed Terra on the pile, stroking her chin pensively. "Or some music?" There was an old CD player in her new room. Somewhere. Ayu joined her hands and looked at the little Majin. "I should go make some snacks for our hideout. What you'd say about muffins? And then I should think about dinner while we wait for your mum." Seriously, Ayu was turning into a full-time housemaid. Or hostess? "What would you like to eat Sweet Pea?"

Whether it was from her wild struggling or her benevolent captor, Terra would eventually see the light of day once again! The blankets would unfold to reveal the soft, welcoming features of her auntie who held her close, tenderly placing a smooch upon her cheek! Terra leaned her face up into Ayu's lips as she kissed her, giggling softly at the act of affection! In this little blanket cocoon, the little blue girl felt as if nothing could hurt her. She snuggled up against Ayu's chest, doing her best to poke her little arms out from inside the tight confines of her bindings so that she may wrap them around the waist of her auntie... One day, she was gonna grow up all big and strong... and SHE was gonna be the one giving hugs and taking care of Ayu! It was the only right thing, after her doing SO MUCH, giving SO MUCH... But for now, Terra would do her best to be the BESTEST niece Ayu ever had!
After a while longer of snuggling, cuddling, and just over-all enjoying each other's company, Ayu would glance at the clock, a dozen suggestions coming right out! Treasures... and Snacks... and even DINNER later! Oh boy, this was turning from something nice for momma into something so much more FUN and involved! ...And Terra was determined to help with every last bit!
"OOO! Crayons and papers! Yes! Yes!" Terra exclaimed happily, bouncing up and down with excitement! "OH! And some of my dollies too! We have fort! We need helpers to keep clean!" At the mention of snacks, Terra's grin would only widen, reaching up for her auntie in excitement! "Muffins! Yay! Muffins! OH! Straaaaaaaawberry muffins! Momma love those! OH! And can I help cook too? I wanna learn! I wanna learn! I wanna help!" By now, Terra's face was just aglow with excitement, the little pink girl hopping off her Auntie's lap so that she could stand ready for the tasks ahead! "Wanna help make dinner too!" Terra exclaimed, spreading her arms wide as if to express HOW MUCH! "Wanna help! You do lots for me and momma! We love you! I wanna help!" Terra really only called Ayu "auntie" because that's what momma told her to call her but, to Terra, Ayu was more like a second mother! She and momma lived in her house, Ayu always cooked, cleaned and took care of them mostly, and she really tried hard to set aside time for them all to be together as family! Sure, Terra and momma helped out sometimes, either washing some dishes or picking up after themselves, but Ayu REALLY took care of the place... and them... and darn it, it INSPIRED Terra to take after her! Sure, she loved her momma and looked up to her more than ANYONE... but Terra didn't have the same... zeal for combat. She wanted to make people happy, ENJOY the comforts and mysteries of life... and maybe go on an adventure every now and then! She wanted to be like her auntie Ayu and help keep the the house safe, warm, and clean!
...And that meant that she had to learn all the things that her Auntie knew how to do and to start, she wanted to learn how to cook!
"Can I? Can I pleeeeeeease?" Terra begged, clasping her hands together in asking! "Even if just little bit! I wanna be like you, Auntie Ayu!"

The children's charm was that anything could make them happy - as long as it was genuine and full of feelings. Ladybug on the grass spotted while they watered plants together, a chocolate cookie that was sneakily eaten before dinner, an unplanned nap time on the sofa... It didn't have to be much. Simply give them effort and time - and that was paying back her thousandfold because Terra was now beaming and shining, laughing with excitement. Since child laughter filled this little house, every morning was brighter... Yeah, it was always so obvious but Ayu indeed had a huge soft spot for children.
"Of course Sweet Pea," she agreed without hesitation, smiling at Terra and giving her her hand. Tiny, pink fingers hold onto hers sweetly. When it came to that, Terra and Liari were both eager to help. Bluebell was amazing when teaching her Ki Control and Terra wanted to aid her in any chore around the household that she could think of. Sometimes she was a tiny bit too creative about it, trying to sweep dust from the ceiling - but Ayu couldn't deny her this pure, curious heart beating in the small chest. "You're going to be auntie's little helper today, right?" she asked and winked at her, already knowing an answer. Ayu took Terra's hand and they walked towards the kitchen, debating out loud what they should prepare for dinner today. Her niece was adorable. The thought that Liari was just like Terra when she was younger was so heartwarming... And heartbreaking at the same time. Because Ayu wasn't there to witness that and Bluebell has changed already. Still, she couldn't feel bad about differences. The change was a part of nature and Majin was indeed a very complex, curious creature that perhaps she might never fully understand. But even if she didn't understand everything that Liari went through, it didn't mean she won't try to be there for her. If... If only her little sister will allow that.
Shaking away this bittersweet feeling, Ayu turned on the radio in the kitchen. It was a good way of spending time with her nice. While humming together, she started preparing the workplace for her little helper. Ultimately she decided that they should make some dumplings with vegetable stew - that is, with any vegetables, Terra would like. She placed a stepping stool in front of the sink and put an apron with a flower print on the little pink girl.
"I have to say, this apron looks good on you," she smiled tying the ribbon on Terra's back. "A-ha, I'm right. You look great~," she lightly poked the girl's side in a loving tease and handed her a vegetable brush. Ayu filled the sink with warm water and prepared a basket with a variety of fresh bounties straight from her garden. "We're going to make a nice stew for dinner. For that, we will use the ingredients you'll choose," she showed her the pile of red tomatoes, ripe pumpkin, carrots, potatoes, zucchinis, and more and more... "There's a lot of vegetables to pick so take those you want to eat and wash them nicely," Ayu instructed. "I trust that you'll pick the tastiest ones~" she winked and placed a tray next to the sink, so Terra had somewhere to put squeaky clean vegetables.
"And... I will prepare ingredients for dumplings in the meantime." Ayu nodded to herself, put on the blue apron, and pulled up her sleeves. From the cabinets, she fished out a big bowl, a bag of flour, eggs, butter, and some spices. Of course that mixing the dough was the best part - she was going to leave it for Terra once she'd done with washing the vegetables. For now, Ayu was measuring ingredients, thinking about what else needed to be done. Chop and boil veggies, roll the dumplings, wash strawberries for muffins, and find the muffin tray that has disappeared from the cabinets again. Since the three of them started to live here, lots of things were being misplaced. Ayu was anxious about it for a short while but she didn't mind it any longer. Still, she needs to find the muffin tray or they will have to bake one giant muffin in a cake pan!
