Time and time again, Derrick was just disappointed with amateurs coming in and out of the Dirty Snakes. All these people talking big, promising massive returns if they were to join only to have the gang's resources wasted on these absolute failures they attempt to call 'heists of the century.' Big bank jobs resulted in failures and the entire crew getting captured by the cops, and small bank jobs never returned on their investment. At this rate the Dirty Snakes are going to have to temporarily forfeit new recruits in order to save money and strengthen the gang members that they already have, though it isn't like it's a major loss due to the sheer incompetence of everyone that walked right into their doors.
It wasn't at all surprising when Derry received a call and almost hung up immediately when the man on the other end began talking big on some big heist. Sensing this, the man on the other end quickly gave Derrick a name, a name that immediately stopped the crime boss in his tracks and got him to listen. Apparently, he was on the line with a man by the name of Quin Noir, perhaps one of the more infamous burglars and thieves in North City. At long last, Derrick has found a man with quite the reputation in the criminal underworld, and now he's seeking the Dirty Snakes' assistance, or more specifically, the boss'. It seems like they need a member to cut through a vault and be the muscle if things go south, which Derrick was more than qualified to perform.
Their target was the Rivers of Gold Bank located on the outer edge of North City. Despite the name, the bank hasn't been doing so well lately, failing quite a bit on their investments. Profits were going down for them, which made the boss wonder why that place was the target. According to Quin, the bank was about to receive a healthy sum of cash from an unknown source in just a few days, which made the burglar all the more curious as to the origins of said care package, but he wasn't going to complain when money is ripe for the taking. Normally the Dirty Snakes wouldn't bother with banks as small as Rivers of Gold, but with the idea of a large sum of cash recently placed inside a vault, Derrick just couldn't resist, especially since he's going to be the one busting the vault down.
The plan was relatively simple: The crew was going to be made up of four members, including both Derrick and Quin themselves. The other two are regular partners for Quin, who go by the codenames Pot and Greed. Each member was assigned a specific role to perform, with Greed disabling the security systems, Pot infiltrating the interior and taking out whatever security might be present, Quin bringing in supplies and getting the escape van ready, and Derrick the job of busting the vault open and bagging the zeni. In the event that things get hairy, everyone that isn't Derrick is equipped with handguns. The boss himself has little need for firearms when he has access to literal fire arms.
Days pass, and it was finally time to perform the big job. It was one in the morning as the van slowly pulled up, parking at the lot across the street from the bank to avoid too much suspicion from any guards curious enough to look outside. Quin waits inside of the van while the other three members climb out and swiftly move towards the bank, looking to get behind the building via the alleyways. "This is Quin. Check in everyone," a voice rings out from their radios. Derrick pulls his own out and replies, "Derrick checking in." "Greed checking in," the woman responds as the two of them look at the final member, Pot, absorbed in thought as he presses several buttons on the pad that he brought with him. He pulls his radio out and responds, "Pot here. Almost got the alarms down. Get in position, Greed."
With those instructions, Greed began to spring into action, pulling out what appears to be a grappling hook attached to a rope. She move away from everybody else as she begins twirling the device around, releasing it at just the right time for it to sail above the roof and grab hold of an edge. She gives the rope a few tugs before confirming that it's secure, and she begins to scale the building. Derrick follows closely behind, with Pot staying in the back as he's supposed to keep a close eye on the security systems. Greed finally reaches the roof as Derrick floats down slowly, giving the woman a slight smirk as he has no such need for the hook. Greed shrugs it off before moving towards the rooftop door, radioing in, "This is Greed, beginning infiltration."
Several minutes pass as Derrick waits patiently up on the roof, Quin checks the scene from the van, and Pot keeps a close eye on the security devices. Suddenly, the hacker's screen begins to glow green as he notices that all systems have been turned off, which could only mean one thing: Greed must've found the rest of security and has taken care of it. Her voice rings out on all of their radios, confirming, "Greed here. Guards are out of the way and cameras are down. Move in, everyone." With those orders, Derrick moves through the rooftop door, Pot makes his way in through the backdoor, and Quin begins to pull the van right up to the entrance of the bank.
Greed made her way over towards the entrance to get the front doors open while Quin climbs out and opens up the trunk, with enough space for the rest of the crew to hop in once they get bags upon bags of zeni. Pot meets up with Derrick as the two of them move towards the bank vault. Normally one would need power tools, torches, drills, and all sorts of stuff to bust through, but who needs all of that when Derry can break this thing open so easily. With a concentrated pink flame on the tip of his right pointer finger, Derrick begins to cut open the metal door guarding the zeni, making sure to cut a big enough hole for them to move the bags in and out efficiently. What Derrick couldn't help but notice, however, was how smoothly everything was going. It's never this smooth for him.
Just as he finishes piercing the vault door, Quin's voice rings out on the radio, stating, "Hold it. We got two vans approaching. They're slowing down, but approaching." Though they technically don't know who these people are, Derry can only imagine that this might just be that mysterious group of interest who brought the money to the bank for safe keeping. The boss glances over at Pot, the two of them giving each other slight nods as the hacker draws his handgun and moves towards the entrance while Derrick begins to prepare to punch the door down. The moment his fist makes contact with the door and knocks the thing down, the boss begins hearing gun shots and yelling on the radio.
"Shit! They've got rifles! Get down!" Pot shouts on the radio, with Quin yelling, "Greed! Get to the roof and give us some support up there! Derrick, get the money ready to move!" With those orders out of the way, Derrick begins to pull out the duffle bag that was provided to him, opening them up to reveal a bunch of capsules, each one containing their own duffle bag for convenient storage. One by one he cracks them open as the gunshots continue ringing out, the boss stuffing each bag with as much zeni as he can get his hands on. With a sixth and final bag filled, Derrick begins tossing the bags out of the vault when he hears a pained cry on the radio. "I'm hit, but not too badly! We need to get outta here, Quin!"
"Greed! Help Derrick get those bags moving! We need to leave!" he barks out before the boss pulls his own radio out after tossing out the last bag. "Greed, keep covering them on the roof! I got the bags all packed up! I'm moving them to the van right now!" "Alright, but you ain't leaving without me!" She yells before going back to returning fire. The boss carries four of the six bags with him towards the entrance, leaving them behind at the doors before going back for the remaining two. Since Pot wasn't in any shape to put them away, Quin begins to take opportunities to put the bags into the van one by one, though with the constant gunfire it was getting more an more difficult to do so. The burglar wasn't even sure how long their own van can last if it keeps getting shot.
With the last of the bags packed away, it was finally time for Derrick to begin fighting back and cleaning things up for the crew. He aims the palm of his hand towards one of the vans and fires off a single fireball. The result was immediate as that van immediately blew up, forcing the enemies to find cover elsewhere. Quin turns back towards Derrick and asks him, "Is that everything?" "All we got," he replies as he slowly floats up towards the roof of the building, meeting Greed up there. He grabs hold of her and swiftly dives back down to the ground, keeping her exposed to enemy fire for as little time as he possibly could. Quin grabs hold of the injured Pot before ordering, "Everyone in the van, now!" Though Derrick would merely just wipe the enemy out under normal circumstances, the police are surely going to arrive at the scene very soon, and he's not looking forward to having to deal with them as well.
With everybody inside of the van, Quin slams on the gas, the burglar a bit surprised that the van can still function decently after getting riddle with so many bullets. At long last, the heist began to come to a close as the four members drove off, bags of zeni in tow. They'll figure out how to divide it all up later, but right now they'll just need to make sure they get back to the Dirty Snakes HQ. Perhaps the boss will treat them to drinks as a little celebration for a job well done.
