The intoxicatingly fresh scent of the mountain wind as it blew through the forest carried a chill that was common there and slowly growing upon a reoccurring visitor who had grown attached to the city. The Bio-Android that fashioned himself Archduke Khyrop rode along the wind with his wings spread wide as the very light of the world around him shimmered off his fur and trailed behind him. There wasn't anything special about North City, in particular, sure some allies he had made recently called the place their base but it wasn't as if they were all that close. It might've been the weather, the surrounding nature, massive airspace, or all factors combined that caused him to stay in the area even if it did come with other benefits.
In the last few days, Khy had taken to listening in to conversations where he could here and there and it was from this habit that he had learned the information that brought him to today's task. When he was outside the police station trying to see if they were targeting any of his allies, or even investigating them at all when he overheard something he didn't expect. A secret meeting of some cops who had gotten their hand on powerful ki-weaponry and were using it to enforce justice their own way.
At first glance, it would be easy to expect that there was no reason for this officer in the PTO to care about this, however, in this he saw a way to take out any possible future threats and possibly a chance to gain more intel or loot about the city he had been frequenting. With this in mind, he stayed there all night until he was sure that there was nothing else to learn, and oh did he learn a lot more than he was expecting. He soon found himself glad that he chose not to eat them all that night as the conversation died down and he learned when and where their next meeting with their leader would be.
"These people almost make it too easy." He whispered to himself as he circled above the meeting spot where the gang was supposed to be meeting later that night. With his eyes focused on the area around him, it was obvious to him why they chose the location they did. "Mm, though at least their leader had enough brains to pick a defendable location, just not from me, unfortunately, mmhaha."
As he laughed into the sky the shimmering bat would make sure to take note of all their blind spots from above before he would decide to leave the location once he was satisfied with what he had found. Although he could've gone in now and killed some while getting a closer look but he didn't want to scare away the leader and figured that this would be his best chance and getting him and the most amount of people who were working alongside him. It might've been a bit slower than normally planned for but it would all be worth it in the end if it came together as hoped.
"I suppose a light snack to work up an appetite would be a good idea.." He spoke his thoughts to himself again, a habit he picked up in the last few years of his growth when he had learned to talk but had no one but himself to share it with. His stomach growled as he turned his attention toward the forest below him. "I smell a bounty of choices to spoil myself with down below..."
Tucking his wings to his side and falling into the wind he would start to plummet into the canopy of trees below, deftly dodging branches and their pine needles as he would suddenly flatten himself out and he would look down on the forest floor. His senses would be focused on the world around him once again as he let his instinct guide him towards his dinner. In mere moments he would be rewarded for relying on the tools he was given as the faint images of a puffy white-tail of a deer could be seen disappearing behind a tree close to the river.
"I hear you." The threat whispered as he would try to keep his flight as silent as possible, switching to ki to guide himself through the air until he had gotten to the treeline that stopped just before the river separated it from the next. "Just as I thought."
Once perched upon the pine's branch Khy would stare upon his prey with desperate eyes, his stomach begging for him to break the anticipation. However, his mind would win the battle as he held himself for the perfect moment his eyes never leaving the cervid's frame. It was spooked by a fish that jumped towards its face and would skitter a few yards in the other direction before it would attempt to drink water again. It was only when the buck had been drinking water for a few seconds that he made his move like a bat out of hell.
There was no sound as he felt himself shifting partially into light, moving faster than normal as he flew with the aid of his ki before suddenly dropping down onto the creature with full speed and weight behind it. His claws tearing into its hide with the force breaking its back he would lunge for its neck without hesitation. Death had already been assured for the creature and yet as his maw opened wide there was only thought upon his mind, kill and consume. As though he were a butcher at work his massive fangs would cleave through meat and rend the flesh as it fell into the eager gullet below. It was a grotesque affair followed by the gurgled squelching sounds of him swallowing the rest of the corpse whole once it had been trimmed down to a manageable size.
In the time that this had all happened the sun had already began to set beyond the mountains as they were graced with a sky filled with dancing hues of orange, purple, and blue teased by the ever-expanding blackness of night. With his meal gone and hunger sated for now he knew that it was time to complete the task he had come here for reminding himself again. "Mm by the time I'm done killing all these officers I'll be ready for seconds."
In the same way, he had gone for the beast Khyrop would take off into the sky towards the meeting place of these wannabe officers, his fur fluttered and tickled his nose as his ears tucked back over his head as he flew at full speed. In mere moments he was back at their hideout again just as they were arriving, the crunching gravel filling his ears as he held back waiting for them all to enter.
Once the last one had closed the door behind him and left only the guards it worked like a starting pistol as he started to glide down around the perimeter taking in the number of guards as he counted to himself. "One, two, three, four, looks like fou- no wait, I see five of them, five shouldn't too hard at all."
As he descended from the dusk sky he used the darkness to his advantage as he would land on the first of the guards, quickly wrapping his legs around his waist and muffling his screams with his wings as they both rolled back. In a flash of seconds, they had both moved away from his position as Khyrop pulled him into the bushes and sunk his teeth into his neck. It only took mere moments and his first victim would be drained without fail. With adrenaline rushing through his body he would spread his wings and start flying low to the ground towards the next one.
"What's that—" A nearby cop had started to say as Khyrop flew from the bush but he had been too fast and soon enough he was grabbed in the same way as the first. However, he would stare up at him and gasp as the other three heard his last words, or rather his death rattle. "Ggrahh!"
He realized he had been a tad overzealous he realized, but he knew that none of them here were worth his full effort, or worthy of assimilation. They were only a snack and a payday combined into one evening and he was going to eat them all. Once the fleeting rasps were silenced he would sit in wait as the other three would start to get closer to him so they could investigate the noise. However, as their leader made the mistake of getting too close without the others they would all watch as he was lifted into the air.
"What a foolish man you are." His legs held him up as a sinister smile spread across his face before opening his mouth to sink his fangs into the guard captain, the others staring as he dropped the drained man from the ground with a satisfying crack.
The two remaining would suddenly scream out in surprise and just as quickly silenced as he knew his bright hue would work against him. Without worry that someone would steal his snack, he didn't wait to consume the first, severing his head with his fangs before rushing the last. With a clear aim and now knowing what he was facing the survivor would charge the ki blaster before blasting the bio-droid. He would wince as he had phased his state to mitigate some of the damage before he would open his mouth as wide as possible before clamping it down upon its head. The last sound of their little confrontation felt in his mouth as the pop shook him his skull vibrating as the blood and bone tricked down his throat.
"Mm, delicious, but I should get moving I'm sure that they've heard some of that." He rolled back and jumped up before dusting himself off as he turned his attention toward their cabin. As he spread his wings he decided that it was time to use shock factor to end this in a proper way. He began to charge his ki as his body started to burn brightly with light, shining like a red dwarf in the night sky.
He crouched before putting all his strength into a running jump before he began to flap his wings as quickly and as fast as possible while using his ki to put all his speed and force into his movement. All at the same time the wind filled his lungs before he used all his lung power to screech as he rammed into the door with all the momentum he had built. The wood shattered into fragments like a shotgun blast as debris pierced their flesh and elicited screams of surprise and terror. It had worked, but he wasn't done as he barely gave any time for them to react to his next move.
"TIME FOR A MASS EJECTION!" Khyrop screamed at them all as he suddenly discharged the built up ki in a mix of pure light, heat, and energy that would tear through the surrounding area. At first, there was only the sound of destructing foundation until the screams of those who were far enough away to not be instantly killed soon followed after. It all happened as quickly as possible like a solar flare as it tore and burned through everything around him.
It had been so sufficient that at first he thought that everyone had been killed in that instant flash of pure power, but as he began to laugh in excitement he would suddenly feel a hot sharp pain, and one that wasn't his own heat as he felt it spreading over his back. Then came another, and he would let out a loud hiss as he turned around to see who it was.
"I don't know who the fuck you think you are, but you're fuckin' dead." An officer wearing a trench coat and a slighty different badge with a few scars on his face. However, he held a custom ki gun that was larger than the others and had two barrels clearly the leader of the entire front. "I'm gonna make you into a new coat and wear it to the policeman's ball."
"I've got no idea what that is, but I know that the only one going anywhere is you." He would stand as he flapped his wings with enough force to produce a gust before letting out another his and opening his jaw widely. "RIGHT INTO MY STOMACH!"
The two of them charged at each other as soon as their taunting was done, while the bio-android was made for this the cop had worked for his rank becoming the leader of his specific cartel and managing with all the others that were in the area and around the planet. It was a fight of instinct versus yearning as they began to clash, the detective pulling his arm back and swinging his gun right into Khyrop's jaw. He caught it but felt the force as he strained to hold it back from being forced down into his jaw. Swinging on his arm he threw his entire body weight into his movements as he used both feet to kick him away.
There was a moment of pause where they both examined each other's injuries and then their own, without hesitation, the corrupt detective pulled his gone back up and began to fire a barrage of blasts. Although his thigh would get hit the Archduke quickly took flight once again circle around him. In response his enemy spun around shooting in circles, hitting just behind him creating a ring of craters that mimicked a target with him in the middle.
"I tire of this!" Khyrop spoke with a loud hiss as he sped up to the fastest he could go, light trailing behind him to the point where it seemed as if he was creating a halo around the man.
"As do I, I'm gonna blast you to pieces even if I have to go to hell and back!" He cried in anger as he started to pour all his energy into his gun, both barrels charging going from white to a bright blue that pulsed as it began to grow.
In that moment he suddenly fired a massive blast aimed right for where he was supposed to be, however, this bat of demonic light had been predictable for this very reason. As he flattened himself and flew parallel to the beam riding its trajectory like a rail until he was staring the detective straight in the eye. There was barely any time for a scream as he charged his body with ki until his face was right next to his own. A scream-empowered beam would ring through his ears and skull as it was obliterated leaving his body behind.
"Now, I have a promise to keep." He would hold up his body only taking the time to remove his badge and gun before he would started to butcher the man.
The rest of that night would be spent with him cutting up and eating the bodies he had caused with his carnage, enjoying it all like a buffet until the sun rose. With light catching his eye and waking him from his gluttonous trance he would finish the last of them with a satisfied smile on his face. It was then that he would grab the evidence of his activities within his feet and take off into the sky towards the city. He had taken plenty of pictures with the PTO camera drone he had taken with him, but he was going to leave the evidence with the cops along with an address of an abandoned building to leave his reward at.
It was indeed the place he was staying at, but he wouldn't be back there until later that night as he would take copies of the photos and whatever evidence he had left to the locations of other gangs, leaving them there and letting them all get a quick flash of him. This was so that they knew who he was and what he had done, for the sake of gaining new allies and intimidating other enemies. After all, a bloody gun with ashes inside often spoke louder than threats and he intended to be as loud as possible.
With all of his errands done he would return to the same abandoned building he expected to have his rewards dropped off to, and flew up into the ceiling wearing even this crimson bat could be out of sight. In this moment he felt satisfied, however, it was not only his stomach that had been sated as he felt a rush through his body causing his blood to pump and his mind to race even as he waited there. It had been thrilling to take them on, to learn more about the organizations of earth and what drove them towards their ends. In the end, as he tried to relax and wait for whatever money they would give him all he could think about was when he would go out next and what he could find on that expedition.
"Mm I guess this dirt ball has more surprises to offer than one might expect." He chuckled to himself as he stared at the ground below him, taking in the scenery and time even as his mind would only focus on the fantasies rather than the realities before him. Although there was time and space for the two to converge soon enough. "I'll have to take more notes when I go out next time, maybe I'll even find another vigorous specimen."
His voice would echo through the room as he spoke to himself, it keeping him company as he began to plot and think about all the things he could learn or attempt while on this planet. He had already seen plenty of interesting locations, and some interesting people but he couldn't wait to meet more of them and to begin more of his experiments. There was so many things to learn and try that he couldn't help but find the situation humorous. As Khyrop lost himself in his thoughts and whims he began to laugh, building from a chuckle into a loud cackle. It would spread from the room pervading the abandoned building as the mania embraced him and poured out into the world beyond.
As his sinister laugh rode through the night many a wild animal and passerby would avert their path in caution, but all of them, including the archduke himself would not be able to guess what his trip on this planet would entail.
