Appearance: Sayama stands at 6'4" (from the top of his scalp, not hair) with black spiky hair and black eyes. He takes after his human father's skin tone, which is darker than most Saiyans. He tries to stay on the lean side, but because of his constant training, he has bulked up significantly so he weighs about 265lbs of pure muscle. Sayama is consistently trying to stay in the best shape he possibly can be to stay ahead of the competition. Sayama typically wears unique Saiyan armor, which is mostly black and gold with red accents, but he can be seen in the usual colors from time to time as well. Being a hybrid, he was not born with a tail, so he does sometimes stand out among his Saiyan peers. Some minor details include his tattoo under his left eye, which is just two red lines, and his spiky black hair is usually styled in a way that makes it point towards his right or left.
Personality: Being seen as weaker and lesser his whole life, thanks to his tainted blood, Sayama had two choices: become a hardened outcast who sought power to overcome his hatred or take it on the chin and just outperform those who doubted him in every way. The choice was easy. Even from a young age, Sayama acted different than his Saiyan brethren, with more of a focus on his mind and relationships with others than his physical strength and prowess. Unlike a lot of the other warriors he grew up with, Sayama simply was not built to be a mindless brute. Like it or not, he had human blood in his system, so he had to either adapt or perish.
That said, Sayama still isn't necessarily fond of his human half. It does make him weaker than full-blooded Saiyans and makes training more difficult. Not to mention, the emotions he feels are unlike anything most Saiyans could ever hope to feel. Anger, sorrow, happiness. In reality, those emotions are his biggest weakness because they make him human. Saiyans are less inclined to like him because of his human-like tendencies, and humans are less inclined to like him because he refuses to consider himself their equal. Sayama's sense of self is all out of wack.
Still, he has a mission to accomplish. What was once the dream of ruling over Vegeta as its king has been (temporarily) replaced by a hatred for the USD. To him, nothing else matters more than putting an end to the organization, and he wants to be the one the do it. After that, then he can focus on becoming king and making Vegeta the most respected planet in the galaxy. Sayama knows he has a lot of work to do in order to get there, but once he has an objective in mind, his drive becomes insatiable.
History: Sayama's biggest faults and weaknesses were predetermined at birth. His Saiyan mother had sired a child with an Earthling father. Despite being born on Vegeta, the shame of bringing such an abomination into the world caused his mother to exile herself to the cosmos, never to be seen again. Meanwhile, baby Sayama just received a childhood like any other Saiyan. He was raised to be a warrior, but because he lacked a tail and was not a full-blood, he struggled physically. His peers were all stronger than him, and even though he received a lot more beating because of it, they were still able to gain power at a faster rate than him.
Fortunately, Sayama had his humanity going for him. When tasks came his way, he was able to use his mind to outsmart them rather than using his strength to overpower them. Wits and quips became staples for the hybrid, who used both to rise through the ranks and eventually become an official member of the Saiyan military.
Once he got out of training, Sayama found himself assigned to a group known as the Mame Squadron. The team may have had their differences, especially compared to Sayama, but with a compassionate leader, they eventually became a well-oiled machine. Together, they were able to complete any mission sent their way, though most of them were diplomatic and unimportant.
Eventually, the Mame Squadron got tired of doing busy work. They wanted something more. Then they met Sayama's mother on one of their missions. Apparently, she did not actually exile herself and was instead cast out for having a hybrid child and failing her original mission on Earth. Ever since her exile, she'd been thinking of ways to overthrow the corrupt leadership on the planet and make Vegeta a better place for all Saiyans. Years of isolation had made her frail and weak, both mentally and physically, so it was hard to tell what was the truth and what she'd made up in her mind.
At first, Sayama and the Mame Squadron were reluctant to trust her. It seemed like a ploy to test their loyalties, but the more they thought about it, the more they believed her. They'd all seen it first hand. Each member of the squad deserved better than what they had, yet their most difficult missions involved a lot of talking and handshaking. Vegeta was not what it needed to be. The planet could be a lot better.
As a result, they began working towards an uprising. In the beginning, they believed the USD could be the perfect cover-up for any of their nefarious misdoings, but soon they started to realize the USD had its own slew of problems to deal with, too. Sayama even hypothesized they were the biggest obstacle they'd have to face, aside from overtaking the throne itself. Using his thinking mind, Sayama worked with his team to come up with a plan of action. Then, they got to work.
Their grand plan had just gotten underway when things went sideways. Somehow, word of their revolt leaked to some of the USD's higher-ups, who did not immediately act on the information. Instead, they paid closer attention to the actions of the Mame Squadron, just to see if there were any glaring signs of revolution. Nothing. The team seemed squeaky clean, mostly in part to Sayama's strategy. They tried, and succeeded, in killing off one of the Mame Squadron's premiere members, who sacrificed herself to fend off some space pirates they'd hired, but it still wasn't enough. It seemed like nothing was going to stop them, and the worst part was, the USD had no proof of the Mame Squadron's disloyalty. Frustrated, the USD had to wait for something big to happen to use as a cover-up for their next phase in stopping the revolt.
What better cover-up than a real SOS from one of the Captains of the Saiyan Military. Things on Earth were heating up, and this Captain, in particular, had a lot to do with it, so the USD began their counter-play. Sayama, the unofficial leader of the Mame Squadron, was given the mission against his will.
Techniques:
- [ST1] Flight - Sayama is able to take to the skies on his own accord.
- [ST1] Ki Suppression - When out of combat, Sayama can disguise his ki as something much lower than it actually is to avoid unnecessary attention.
- [OT1] Power Flick - Imbuing ki into his fingertips, Sayama can unleash a powerful energy wave with the flick of his finger.
- [OT1] Temper Tantrum - With precise movement, Sayama can unleash a series of blows with his hands and feet, capped off by a powerful uppercut!
- [OT1] Human-Saiyan Consortium - Using his heritage as a basis, Sayama is able to unleash two powerful beams from his open palms. The attack only deals full damage if both beams make contact with their target.
- [DT1] Nimble - Thanks to his quick feet, Sayama can scramble in the face of adversity and move swiftly out of the path of an incoming attack!
Roleplay Sample: "With all due respect, these are my people, ma'am. You can't just send me down to Earth on a whim!" Sayama followed behind an upper-ranking USD officer, who had just assigned him to respond to a SOS signal. Apparently, something was going down on the mud pit that was Earth, something big enough to require assistance. Out of all the Saiyans available, she chose Sayama. And he had to go alone.
"Oh? And why can't I?" She inquired without looking back or stopping.
She walked through a doorway and Sayama stayed on her tail as he plead his case, "I've been with them since I started. We've built up comraderie and rapport, and with Kasho being Kasho, that was not easy,"
The woman off-handedly noted, "So you've grown attached,"
"N- well-," Sayama took a deep breath, then admitted, "Yes! I have. But I'm not afraid to admit it," He took a few longer strides to put himself between the woman and her destination. He put his hands up and halted, "Look, I'm just asking you to send someone else. We're all the same to you, right? What difference does it make?"
"Don't think so little of yourself," She disagreed, "You were chosen in particular for a reason. Most other options are simply not suited to respond to this distress call,"
Sayama watched as she brushed past him and continued on, stone-faced. He groaned and continued following her through the facility, "It's 'cause I'm human, isn't it?"
"That may be a crucial factor," She admitted.
"I've never stepped foot on that planet for even a microsecond!" Sayama whined, "I'm as human as-"
"As they come," She interrupted, "Your biological father, as far as anybody knows, is 100%, full-blooded Earthling. Like it or not, your genetics lend themselves to this mission. Not to mention, you've shown considerable success in previous diplomacy missions,"
The hybrid slowed to a stop when he heard the last bit of information, "'Diplomacy missions?' I thought I was being sent in as backup,"
"We're dealing with a Captain in the Saiyan Military," The woman explained as she stopped outside a door, "I can wholeheartedly assure you he does not need help in the power department, and certainly not from you,"
"Wow. That stings, but," Sayama shrugged, "fair point," Then he added, "What's also a fair point is the fact that all of those diplomacy missions were done with my squadron. All of us. Together. Let me bring them with me. Please?"
The woman paused for a moment, as if she were considering, but then she continued forward through the facilities. Sayama followed. Before long, the two were in a hangar, full of various space pods and crafts. She responded after a short bout of silence, "That 'please' details exactly why you are the perfect candidate for this. Most-"
"Cut it out!" Sayama burst out. He grabbed the woman by the shoulder and turned her to face him, "I've had it with your corporate run-around. There's something bigger going on here that you just don't want me to know about. Right? That may work on Lettuce and Spinach, or whoever else you influence with your wide vocabulary and 'big girl' words, but I'm not like them,"
Instead of looking worried or surprised, like most people would have been when faced with a physically imposing threat, she just gave a fake smile and agreed, "You truly are the perfect candidate,"
Suddenly, a fist connected with Sayama's face from seemingly nowhere. He tumbled onto the floor of the hangar bay, slid on the metallic ground, then rolled into a crouch. His entire face throbbed, especially the impact point on his cheek. A trickle of blood leaked out of his nose, which he wiped with the back of his hand as he assessed the situation. From some of the other doors in the hangar, three other Saiyans had appeared. They were each physically larger than Sayama, but without a scouter and the inability to detect ki, he had no way of telling just how powerful they were.
Trying to get himself under control, Sayama's eyes shot back to the USD shill, "What's going on? What is this?"
"Did you really think your little scheme would go unnoticed?" She mused, "You may have the intellect required to keep such a secret, but your cohorts aren't as genetically inclined," From the doors, more Saiyans spilled out. Limbs bound and mouths gagged, each of Sayama's squad members was revealed one by one, escorted by even more apish brutes.
Sayama realized they'd been found out. Something leaked. Now, the USD was going to get its revenge. The hybrid asked, "What about the Captain's SOS?"
"The Captain partially responsible for the destruction of one of our bases?" Sayama had no clue what she was talking about. Were the Saiyans on Earth planning a revolution of their own? "We were not sending in back-up to the SOS signal, dear Sayama. We're sending an assassin,"
It all started to make sense to Sayama. The USD selected him to go to Earth because of his 'diplomatic success.' In reality, they just needed someone who had the brain power required to pull off a comprehensive enough lie to take out one of their enemies. Sayama shook his head and quipped, "Well, that's too bad, 'cause I'm no assassin,"
"Aren't you?" She countered. The escorts pushed their prisoners towards some of the space pods, which all seemed like they'd been preset with destinations, "You didn't know it, but this is the last time your little squad will all be together," Sayama tried to run to help them, but he was peppered with a barrage of ki blasts that knocked him into a different spacecraft. He bounced off the side of it, leaving a man-sized dent in the hull, but managed to keep standing on his wobbly feet.
One by one, each member of the Mame Squadron was sent off to various destinations. Sayama spouted, "Where are you sending them?!"
"Brench, Yardrat..." The USD woman shrugged, "Some unsavory places in the universe. Nowhere important, that's for sure. Not as important as the place you're heading," She nodded towards him, and two of the brutes began to close in.
Finally, Sayama was ready for an attack. He entered his fighting stance as the two neared, unsure of how he could possibly win. Looking at the situation, even if he somehow managed to topple the two in front of him, there was still at least half a dozen other Saiyans in the room who were surely itching to get their hands dirty. Victory was going to be a hopeless endeavor. Still, he couldn't just curl up and surrender.
One of the brutes swiped at Sayama's head, so the hybrid ducked under the attack. Then, he sprung into the air to avoid a low kick from the other brute. Caught off his feet, the first brute tried to clap his hands together onto Sayama's sides, but he quickly pointed his hand directly at the center of his opponent and flicked. His Power Flick technique sent the enemy tumbling backward and through one of the doors of the hangar.
Sayama landed on the ground just to receive a knee to the gut. He lurched forward, where he fell victim to an uppercut that knocked him flat on his back. Sayama kipped up onto his feet, but a big clothesline from his foe sent him right back onto the hard floor. Aches and pains were evident across his body, but he still managed to struggle onto his feet. The big Saiyan tried a big overhead haymaker, but Sayama dove between his legs. Behind his current attacker, Sayama noticed the other enemy recovering from the Power Flick. Suddenly, an idea entered his brain.
He turned towards the man who he'd just slid under, who also turned to face him, then sprung into the air. Sayama hoped and prayed his plan would work as he reached backward with his foot. For a split second, he felt his foot connect with the scalp of the flicked enemy, and that was all the time he needed.
With a new foothold, Sayama flipped into the air to get more height. Beneath him, one of the brutes accidentally slugged the other across the face with a powerful hit that had been intended for the hybrid. With a loud thud, one of the two enemies was knocked unconscious - absolutely out cold. Coming down from his flip, Sayama landed his heel directly at the top of the second enemy's skull. Then, as soon as he landed on the ground, Sayama placed both of his palms on the brute's chest and fired Human-Saiyan Consortium. Two beams, one golden yellow and one blue unleashed upon the brute from point blank range. He flew across the hangar until he burst through a wall or two, completely out of sight of the rest of the spectators.
Sayama allowed his beams to dissipate, then his shoulders slunk down as he started to feel the effects of fatigue and pain. His breathing became more labored, his vision blurred, and he started to feel dizzy, but he still had the other enemies to defeat. Weakly, Sayama held both of his fists up to continue the fight, showing his dedication to winning.
Unfortunately, there was nothing more he could do. Out of the remaining Saiyans, one dashed across the hangar to close the distance. Usually, Sayama could have tracked the movement, but this happened in the blink of an eye. Before Sayama could even think about reacting, a fist crossed his face and sent him to the metal floor. He coughed up a bit of blood, which splattered across his face and onto the floor next to him. The USD woman and her Saiyan underlings all appeared towering over him, where she explained his mission, "Corporal Sayama, your mission is simple. Find the sender of the SOS signal, gain his trust, assassinate him, then return home. If you succeed in this task, you will prove your loyalty to both Vegeta and the USD. Only then will the remaining members of the Mame Squadron be returned to this planet safely. Failure in assassinating the target will result in the inevitable and unsavory deaths of your allies. So, essentially, you'll be assassinating somebody one way or another."
The Saiyans lifted Sayama's weakened body into one of the pods as the hybrid barely managed to maintain consciousness. Meanwhile, she concluded the meeting, "It's entirely possible our sources were misinformed with your squadron's true intentions. This is your chance to prove it. Don't be a hero. Don't assume you can outsmart the USD. Your fate depends on it. Farewell, Sayama,"
Even in his state, the blabbermouth that was Sayama still had one more quip. Through a bloodied smile, Sayama assured, "See you soon," A glare shot back at the hybrid as his pod closed, then blasted off towards its destination. Sayama started to allow himself to fade into unconsciousness, but not before he made one thing perfectly clear in his mind. He was going to return to Vegeta. With both the captain and his squadron in tow. The USD will fall.
