Right, that was enough of sitting here on the floor. With the pressure painfully reminding her, that she's been in a place with high gravity for too many hours to count, Ayu only now began to move. During meditation she stayed in one place, adjusting her breathing to this new environment. Later, while training her energy barrier she didn't involve much movement in this practice in the first place, so perhaps that's why she felt so heavy - even heavier than one would be in this situation. Ayu let go of the invisible shield, which disappeared soundlessly and the leaf from the palm of her hand landed on the floor. She needed to push through. It felt like she got rusty and sweaty simply by resting on the floor... Surely it was the fault of the pressure that seemed to keep growing and growing... Did she set that thing right? It would be bad if Ayu would have destroyed it by accident, or altered the settings in any way that could have harmed her. She should have listened to Tabu better when she showed him the ship.
Gravity was a force to be reckoned with. Ayu felt it growing, a perfect excuse to get up and start doing something. Practice dodging perhaps? It was time to move... But the thought of running in the Gravity Chamber sounded like the worst possible idea. Ayu had trouble even walking, how was she supposed to practice the speed of her movement in this type of place? She stroked her head and sighed, trying to warm up by trotting in place. Her gestures were slowed down by the strain on her muscles, it didn't help that the soreness was giving her a hard time adjusting to the gravity. Each step was hitting the ground with tremendous impact, but Ayu wasn't even doing anything. She was simply there, trying to lightly run in one place. It was just how this Chamber worked... She started to get a feeling that perhaps she and this place won't get along in the future.
There was a dodging technique she already knew and in a way mastered... This skill too was accidental. Ayu discovered it by chance years ago, when she was out there in the wild forest, so now it was time to polish that ability. Better late than never. To move so fast that she creates an image of herself in the spot she was standing before... Well, that wasn't exactly true. While using this dodging technique Ayu was releasing a small amount of her Ki that created an afterimage of her, a moving picture suspended in the air that was only there for a mere moment... But sometimes a moment was enough. Ayu stretched her arms and jumped in place. She landed, actually, not as heavy on the floor as before. What should she do? Rubbing her arms she decided that it was a better chance than any to try controlling the amount of Ki released from her body as she moved. She might have not run around at her top speed but any method to practice should be okay, as long as she was improving.
Ayu began to move. The gravity was killing her, the force of pressure make it difficult to move... And because her reflex seemed to be weaker, she needed to be creative with her training. The young woman decided to run backward. As silly as it sounded, Ayu could see this way what kind of image she left after her every step, and, well, some of them were not ideal. The energy that she released from her body with every step was supposed to create some kind of illusion, imprint in the air the shape of her body. Just, after two or three steps, another image started to blur and partially turned transparent. First, second, and maybe even third, they all were perfect copies of her image. The fourth one started to blur with a significant drop in the quality with every other illusion made. She wasn't going to get away from any opponent with that. Wasn't Ayu paying attention to her Ki enough? The amount used for every afterimage wasn't as big or troubling as she used while controlling plants, but perhaps the repeatability was the issue.
If that was the case, it should be easy enough to practice and take care of that with more experience, right?
Ayu breathed deeply. She wasn't an athlete. The source of her force was purely applying to her uncontrollable energy and if she wasn't going to utilize it properly, what good would it come from even having it? Right. She jumped to the side, and a figure of her standing remained in the same spot, an illusion that faded to nothingness after a blink of an eye. Once more. To make things more complex, Ayu was twirling as she go, making sure that it was not the same position over and over again. She couldn't tell if she was moving that fast, but after trials and errors, she was able to create five decent afterimages after the sixth one looked like something that was made by a printer with a low level of ink. Yet, the practice was paying off, indeed.
"Just a little more," Ayu pondered while another replica faded in front of her eyes. The amount of energy used by her was always the same, just the repetitive action of releasing it for the creation of copy... It's not like it was getting mundane, just in the constant movement her Ki control started to get sloppy. She needed to work on that - it was only a matter of practice. The more she moved, the easier it was to take another step like her body started to adjust to the crushing gravity. With that weight - figuratively speaking - off her shoulders, Ayu could pour more of her focus into the dodging technique at hand.
And it paid off when with each try she could create one copy more, when she could jump, leaving behind an imprint of herself suspended in the air like it was nothing... Well, color her impressed. Ayu was able to fill the whole Chamber with afterimages of herself! Each of them was an exact copy of her presence down to every detail - but they were fading into nothing with the faintest touch, or would stay present a second longer on their own before disappearing. Would that be enough in a fight?
It had to be.

But what if it's not enough?
All in all, Ayu was never in a real fight. She couldn't even muster the resolve to stand her ground, let alone hit someone when needed... And with this shameful lack of experience, she could only brainstorm if her abilities were fit for fighting, no, fit for protecting anyone. Barrier, dodging, controlling plants... She couldn't be left defenseless either, right? Even if she felt like that most of the time. Maybe... Maybe her resolve was childish. Ayu clenched her fists, feeling tears gathering in the corner of her eyes. She was too late in her decision to act, to stop being so scared, to at least try - perhaps it was time to do something. It's not like she was suddenly devoid of fear and of worry about hurting others. Ayu knew she would never be able to take anyone's life, she couldn't... But it didn't mean that the being she'd have to face in the future would have the same doubts. The simplest truth lay there. If she'd be caught dead, she wouldn't be able to support, let alone help anyone, that's why it did matter to keep herself alive. Even if that seemed selfish at times...
Ayu looked at the afterimage she created, not sure if that technique was enough. What even was an illusion? For sure it was a trick to deceive the eye - but not only the eye, every possible sense. By adding her Ki into the afterimages Ayu was leaving the imprint that felt just like her, it was seen, sensed, maybe even heard... But what about the importance of touch? The whole deal about illusion, well, at least Ayu was convinced it was, was that they couldn't be felt with a bare hand, as they would disappear like smoke on a windy day. Like a mirage of some sort? She scratched her cheek thoughtfully, pondering at the afterimage she just made. She poked her own arm with her finger and without a trace the copy melted into nothing.
Perhaps it would be worthwhile to adjust her energy enough, to make it last longer... And the sense of touch? Could Ayu create an illusion of this too? If she could decieve the eye, it shouldn't be so farfetched to manipulate her Ki enough to give that sensation - even if only for a brief moment. If the opponent would feel like they are holding to her or hitting her, that would work for her advantage. It would give her more time to act while the other person would be focused on the copy at hand. But was that even possible..?
Well, not so long ago Ayu was sure that controlling flora was something only characters in fairytales for children did.
Yet more hours were filled with trials and errors. Adjusting her energy wasn't so easy when her control was lacking, but Ayu was focused on creating an afterimage that would not only last longer but would give an illusion of touch. However weird that sounded... To not get over herself, Ayu jumped lightly to the side, creating the first and only copy at that moment. The young woman silently counted the seconds until the image in front of her faded away. Then, adding a slightly different amount of energy, Ayu created another afterimage - staring at it with a pensive frown and sweat on her brow, measuring time and checking if perhaps the larger quantity of Ki wasn't messing with how the copy looked. And after that disappeared, she tried again and again... Until she realized that it was useless to create a copy of herself that was standing still for a minute. That wasn't the purpose of this technique, and she would only waste her Ki this way. What's the point of having a motionless copy stand there in front of someone for long? It was going to get attacked in her place anyway, so that would suck away her energy without any reason. Ayu decided that the time of life of the afterimage should be long enough to distract someone, and short enough to not fade before an attack.
With some adjustment, she was able to set the outcome that she liked the most... But she couldn't mimic the sense of touch.
Wait, she had a similar issue before, didn't she? Ayu started to walk around in circles inside the Gravity Chamber. She didn't pay as much attention as before to the pressure pulling her down, getting more used to it than before. In fact, she adapted to it to the point when where her thoughts focused on something else, despite the heaviness of her body, her attention wasn't split between fighting with gravity and concentrating on other matters. Now she was thinking about the barrier she made earlier - it was all about the density of Ki, layers, and the amount of energy. Perhaps it would be the same? First, when Ayu created an afterimage, the amount of Ki used was scarce. It was only to make an image in the air, an illusion, nothing more. Yet, when she added more power, it lasted for longer, yet any hand that tried to touch it would meet nothing. What if she'd add more energy, making it denser, so the copy still would fade away quick enough, but be compacted enough to give an illusion of holding something?
Maybe because of the practice with the barrier earlier she got a hang of it already, but Ayu, to her surprise, guessed right. Making the Ki denser made it seem that something actually was there, even if she only created an illusion. Now it was only a matter of polishing that... It took some time, but she was able to, well, it felt weird to grab her own arm, but she did it for training. Ayu looked at her copy as she held the afterimage's shoulder, feeling the pressure under her fingers as if it was a real body. Even the fabric of her clothes wrinkled like it was real. One, two, three... It lasted three seconds before it was gone, alright. Now, Ayu felt a little bit more sure about her skills - and that was enough practice for today.
She was drenched with sweat, exhausted, and in a dire need of a shower and a long nap. Wiping her forehead, she walked to the counter, turning off the gravity. The sensation that followed was so puzzling when the pressure disappeared - Ayu felt so light it made her uneasy. She raised her hand, clenched her fist, and stretched her fingers again... Like every move and gesture were too strong and too sudden. She needs to get used to the normal gravity again... But it was time to go home.
The young woman turned around and tripped even before making her first step, landing on the floor.
Switching from different gravities was going to be difficult...
